Good teacher but he grades hard. Alot of work but it helps keep your grade up if you actually do it, he grades really easy in ENG 101 but he is much harder for 102. Take this course if you dont get bothered by lots of papers

I thought Professor Greenfield was Awsome!!! He really made you challenge yourself and get somthing from his class!! I took him for 101 and 102 because I enjoyed his class so much!!!

Smart guy! Not only is he a great English teacher, he is a psychologist - can easily read students' minds.

Tries to challenge you, if he sees good potential in a student he will try to bring it out. Wish i had taken him for 102 instead of Paul Gelinas.

helpful, yea a little too helpful. He seems to enjoy the theatre too if you know what i mean. Too much of a " lets chat it up in groups" attitude

very nice and helpful. A lot of fun. laid back easy going. has blond moments at times. treats you like and adult. never talks down to you. work not that hard. lectures are fun and interesting. if you dont like english he will help you get threw the class.

I have three words to describe him "Fab-U-Lous" Lot of work but always there to help you every step of the way. Very humorous at times and very knowledgable about his stuff.

I loved this class, would recommend this instructor to anyone willing to build on their writing skills. Thank you Professor! My final work from this class was published, what an HONOR!

Heis very interested in not letting you fail his course. I had hard time at first then I realized he was trying to help. I would recommend this English teacher to anyone willing to learn. He takes his time and you have many chances to revise your papers for a good grade. A++++

This is a class that you can definately get a 4.0 in, but only if you do the revisions. There is a lot of work because of all the revisions that you NEED to do. He is really big on peer response and group discussion. The class is very laid back but not an easy A. Philip really likes to say YAY!

LOVE LOVE LOVE him. Had Shaffer for 101 and had the worst time ever. I passed 102T with flying colors. Yeh he can be a little ditsy at times, and he does require alot of work. But would take him for anything that I needed if he were teaching the class. Hes a Must Have!!

Lots of work, but I learned a lot about writing. Was great at pointing out weak spots and advising how to correct them.

I Hate english with all my might, and I was not excited to have to take another one, but I alsolutly loved this teacher. He does give alot of work, but who said college was easy. If you have a complaint about having alot of homework you should not be in college. I loved Greenfield's Engl class. However I'm not afraid of hard work either.

This guy LOVES to put you in groups, so if you don't like getting close to the crack-heads at mott for a little one-on-one time then don't take this class. Also he is definitely a little on the ****side.

Phillip is AWESOME! For those of you who says he gives too much work... welcome to college idiots! (and this is Mott-I dare you to transfer to a university if you think this class is hard). You will not find a lot of teachers in college who will let you make revisions and turn things in again for a better grade. Highly recommended!!!

Helps you learn how to become a better writer. Does let you revise papers, but only once. Great ideas about how to help the writing process. I was never very interested in writing before, but he helps build confidence.

Mr. Greenfield is an excellent teacher. I always hated English until I took his class. It was a lot of work, but if you keep up with it, you will do well. He helped me to like writing again!

Philip is an awesome teacher! If you do not do well in his class, then you are not trying. He let's you revise EVERY paper. Philip is very helpful and although he can talk fast he will slow down if you say something. I have another professor for 102 and am absolutely kicking myself for not taking him again! Seriously my favorite teacher.

He is a very good instructor!!!! All you have to do is come to class, pay attention, and do your all your papers. And the best part you have a extension on your papers if you can not make the due dates. And you can revise your papers to which is very nice. I leared a lot. He is a great teacher if you can take his class!!!

Very nice Instructor! Always humorus which is a stress reliever. He expecets alot from u & wants all of his students 2 pull their own weight N their assignments. I'm a non-traditional student and he made my return to college a very positive one. He is very passionate about his field and for me that makes a good teacher.

Greenfield is a great professor. He really loves what he does. He is very helpful in class, also he helpful in the writing center. One thing he does is let's students revise their papers to earn a higher grade. He is a A- professor in my opinion. I would recommend him to take for English.

Professor Greenfield is a good professor. He explains every thing well and clear. He does let you redo your papers which he does not have to do. It was a blessing that I receieved a 3.5 in his class. The only negative thing I have to say is you will be writing a lot. But overall he is good, I would recommend him to take if you like to write a lot.

Very easy to stay focused with him if you're interested in the subject, which you should be since this is an alternative to English 101 and is technical writing, not philosophical garbage. You use what you learn after this class. He is very easy to get ahold of and has no problem helping students catch up.

I thought he was a great teacher. If you attend his class regularly and pay attention you will be fine. He lets you rewrite papers to get the highest grade possible. The only thing I don't like is how he grades them, it's a little confusing.

Very interesting lectures. Persuasive writing is the bulk of this class, and he kicks off the first assignment with a really fun subject matter. He gives meaningful feedback that pushes his students to be better writers. Fantastic class!

Phillip Greenfield is the best profersor I've had yet! He is willing to work on the little things if need be with every and any student. He makes sure everyone understands what needs to be done and it the most helpful teacher I've ever had. He knows how to make the English subject fun and not such a burden for those who don't like it.

Mr. Greenfield is definitely one of the best English teachers you can get here at Mott Community College, definitely recommend him 100% great guy who is nice and good at communicating with his students.

I enjoyed this class very much, Phillip keeps class interesting and fun. There were several papers but many of them are only a page, pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class.

Professor Greenfield is a great English professor. He genuinely wants his students to succeed, and will help any way he can. Spend quality time on papers, and attend class (15% of grade) if you want to pass. He allows revisions for a better grade, and grades by conference, so students know exactly what hes looking for in the revisions.

He is a great choice for ENGL101! I very much enjoyed his class. Class is not mandatory but be sure to let him know (via e-mail) ASAP when you won't be there so you can know what to catch up on before the next class. He starts out a very fair grader but progressively gets tougher on his students throughout the semester. Be prepared for many essays!

Very fun and entertaining, so much so that I feel kinda bad when my papers are late because he's so nice about it. Lets you revise your papers to improve your grade, and provides written feedback for you to reflect on as you edit. I'm not a very fast writer and get easily overwhelmed, and his understanding and leniency helped me through ENGL-101.

He's awesome. Gives good feedback and all papers can be revised at the end of the semester for a better grade. Coming to class is a small % of the grade but I skipped probably 6 times and still ended up with a good grade. Interesting topics for papers and decently fun lectures if the class is involved.

Phillip is an amazing professor, he is fun and interesting (even at 8 am on Mondays!) He is one of my favorite professors and if you do the essays on time you get to revise them and can even receive 100% after revisions. You get 1 point per class for participation and can receive 1.5 points (an extra credit of .5) for allowing him to use your paper

Very inclusive teacher for those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Helped me with getting my name changed at the school. Gave good personal feedback on essays. Online course was very discussion-based though, which didn't really help me much as most students were only giving one or two lines of "Good job!" type feedback.

Great guy, loved the class. I learned alot. It did get a bit confusing, but he is very caring and helpful! He will go above and beyond to help you, just ask and be patient. Loved the reading we did, it did move fast I suggest you print everything and highlight so you can refer to notes easily and quickly.

Professor Greenfield made a difficult class very interesting! He teaches things in different ways to help others understand them. Although he is a tough grader, he gives amazing feedback and lets you revise essays, which is very helpful! I found him very kind, and if you ever had any questions, he was there to help!

Surprisingly good experince for an English 102 class. He isn't the most approachable person on Earth but he's generalll kind, nice, and objective in grading, and isn't afraid to compliment your writing. Overall good experience and I'm glad to have finished my MOTT experience through him.
