Excellent Professor! Obviously loves what he teaches, and loves to teach! Easy class if you show up and take notes. He was very helpful and responded to emails quickly! Would definetly take his classes again! ( Made an A!)

Great teacher so far! He is genuinely interested in his field and loves to talk about it! The tests are great, and as long as you demonstrate a general sense of knowledge about what you learned, you will get a good grade...and he's kinda cute :p

THe material is tough but he is a good teacher. He lectures a lot and taking notes isnt really necessary. He gives you what will be on the test and his powerpoints are online so you can get the answers from there or the book. For papers he is a pushover. He will give you an extra day if you ask.

Dr.Guerty is a very good teacher. He explains the material very well and is extremely helpful. You will have 3 tests & 2 essays (if you ask he'll give you an extra day). He gives you all the terms you'll need that will be on the test. This class was great. If you show up to class and do all the work, it's an easy A!

i had him for world history and he is a very good teacher! he has a bunch of notes but they are not overwhelming at all. very very nice man and will help you as much as you need! very understanding. GREAT teacher overall. i would def recommend him! kind of a nerd haha

This guy is awesome! it's pretty much all lecture and notes, but he makes it interesting. Plus he looks like clark kent(superman). i had an A in the class all semester until i didnt do the final essay. even then he let me know i hadnt turned it in and gave me a second chance, though i still never did it, he did his best.

Attend class and take notes....if u can do tht u'll make an A. He also gives the terms that u need to know before the test. He will help u no matter how many times u go to him. His tests are super easy. All u gotta do is identify the terms and write a paragraph about it...:) I would totally recommmend his class !!!!!

He is the best! My favorite prof. so far! You do not need to buy the text book for his class, he has everything important to read accessible online. He tells you exactly what to study for the test, which makes it easy.

Fantastic teacher who tries to pass his enthusiasm for history onto his students. He makes his points clear, and despite the occasional tangents makes his class enjoyable and fun. I am a history major, and i really liked his class, minus the 8AM aspect of it. Gives notes like twice a week and usually watches movies one a week. hes really nice& understanding. there's a lot of reading primary sources but you talk about them as a class. he practically gives you the answers to the midterm and final. take him if you like history.

Dr. Guerty is fantastic! Lectures are interesting, lots of class discussions. Shows lots of movies. No homework to speak of, just 2 assignments due by end of semester. He's very chill, and willing to help. He lets the class vote on what terms to throw out for exams IF YOU ASK HIM. Lots of group work for primary sources.Does NOT use txtbk.Fun class!

He seems like a really nice guy and an okay teacher. He somehow has the patience to repeat EVERYTHING, don't know how he does it. He answers the same thing over and over. He gives work that he doesn't grade but then only gives you like 3 grades.

He doesn't use the textbook, so don't buy it! His class is fairly boring but overall pretty easy. The essay is 4 long pages and I had no idea what i was talking about and still managed an A. he's way nice and very understanding! you lucked out with the professor.

Great teacher! The class was pretty boring, but he is an easy grader and helps you if you need it. As long as you come to class most of the time missing a few classes won't hurt you. He only gives you 4 grades in all. Two four page papers (double spaced), a midterm, and a final exam. Overall a good class to take!

Dr. Guerty was one of my favorite professors! He was so informative and made the subject interesting, even though I'm a history major. All you need to do is show up and take good notes, because there are only three tests (including the final.) All in all he was awesome!

I had him for World Civ. Great professor. He lets the class choose what type of test they want. He lectures a lot, so pay attention. I wouldn't recommend skipping class because he covers a lot of material in one class. Easy A, I would take him again if I could.

Amazing teacher. He is super dedicated to his work and passionate. All of that shows through his lectures. Follow his outlined notes and add to them from the lecture and you'll do great! Text book is not needed either. He gives you three tests, random classroom assignments, and a portfolio. I recommend him to everyone.

Guerty is such a nice guy. He is amazing at lecturing and teaches about real interesting things. He's not hard at all either. It's a pretty easy class but you learn so much! He's probably the nicest and most patient teacher I've had.

Professor Guerty is fun, down to earth, reasonable, and overall just a good human. He understands that it's not the most fun, lightens it up when he can, and has a generally laid back demeanor. I think he might have had one bad day the whole semester and that was hardly bad. Just take notes and read the primary sources! Really! That's it!

Professor Guerty is a true Historian. He is very intelligent and manages to explain himself in an understandable manner. He shows some videos and movies, but most classes involve writing notes except he gives online notes guide so it's not as bad. He has a monotone voice, but is very nice and will repeat himself if students ask. Tests are fair

I've had Dr. Guerty about 5 times and he is hands down the best history professor ever! He is very helpful, and his lectures are clear. Everything he gives you will be on the test, its not useless info. I learned so much in his class, he's managed to make wall paper interesting! He's also very nice and knowledgeable. So glad I'm a history major.

This class was great. The lectures were straight forward and very interesting. He is very nice and funny. You can tell he loves what he is teaching.

Only had two tests and the final, all of which are very easy as long as you have been coming to class and listening. His lectures are very clear, but can get kind of dry and boring at times.

For a History major, I find his lectures to be really interesting. He has clear knowledge on many things, but also admits when he does not. I was nervous about taking this class at 8 am, but honestly with my love of history I am very happy I signed up for his course. He does not require the book, and he gives terms before test.

There was not homework, but there are reading that needs to be done for the next class day. He gives you a week or less to read them. His tests are given a study guide, which if you study you'll do more than fine! Overall, fun class!

In History Department, Ric Kabat is #1, Phillip Guerty is a close #2. Overall, he is a great professor. He likes to assign a lot of readings for weekly group work. Tests can be a little tricky. You have to study to pass. He is flexible with attendance, but don't blow class off without reason, as some lecture material is on test. Pretty cool guy!

Absolutely the best professor or instructor I have ever had, He is a very enjoyable and nice. Dr. Guerty was very understanding and seemed like he truly wanted you to learn and get the best grade you could. Note-taking was very easy with the way he lectured and repeated himself so you could have time to write down . TAKE HIS CLASS !

This is my second class with him. I highly recommend taking his classes. This is one of the only classes he teaches that requires a book. Regardless of a textbook, he has many articles he provides for you to read and discuss. They will be topics on the test. His tests are pretty straight forward and have a study guide. He's one of my favorites.

A great History Professor. The lectures were very interesting. Tests are extremely easy just make sure you take good notes and attend class everyday. There is some writing that is involved but it is very simple stuff.

Great professor! Lectures were super interesting and this guy knows his stuff. Only issue was tests which were very difficult. Questions can be very tricky and you have to read them closely. But other then that one of my favorite professors at UNG. If you get the chance take him. Just make sure to pay attention to lectures and take notes!

I did this class as part of the Dual Enrollment program. Guerty was a very good professor, even for a history class at 8 am. He told us exactly what was going to be on the test, and if you had any problems or questions, we was always willing to answer them. Plus he made history interesting.

Guerty is the best history professor at UNG Gainesville, especially for upper level classes. He gives you the study guide and is super clear about what will be on the tests. Highly recommend

One of the chillest professors I've taken at UNG. His lectures are amazing, especially for someone who isn't really keen on history. He makes things simple and gives study guides at the beginning of the semester. Doesn't use d2L. Be sure to finish your history portfolio ASAP! I finished mine weeks early and was not stressed by end of semester. Easy

Very straight forward, but there were some issues. HE MAKES YOU MEMORIZE THE SLIDES. He reviews before the test and gives you extra credit on tests and curves grades. I cannot express this enough to start your portfolio early because they take forever. Only 4 papers, so not too bad. I recommend but beware of studying for tests, especially summer.

I am the type of student that DOES NOT rate instructors! So when I do either something REALLY GOOD happened or something REALLY BAD happened! Well guess what?! Mr. Guerty is an awesome, caring, understandable instructor who truly does care and I wish every instructor is caring and understanding like him! Mr. Guerty will assist you if you ask!

We only went to class to take tests. He was a very caring professor and his lectures could be boring but the information is interesting. I loved the discussions in class because it gives feedback as you write. There was a lecture and questions every week, discussion, and history portfolio. This class is pretty hard to fail.

This class is hard to fail. Mr. Guerty really cares for his students. He is flexible with test dates if you have something going on or just can't make it. Not too much of a work load. On the first day he explains everything you need to know and everything is very simple on what you will be doing every week. I would definitely recomend his class.

Prof. Guerty was one of my favorite professors this semester. He gave weekly assignments on tophat and packback and 3 tests but it was nothing to be overwhelmed over so long as you were on top of your work. Professor Guerty has assignments that certainly make you think, but he also is very understanding of things that can cause problems. I, for example, work a full-time job while in school. He always worked with me. Also, his class discussions are fantastic.

Professor Guerty is my favorite professor of all time. The class is actually super interesting and Guerty is just a such a cool guy that is makes for an amazing class. Exams are not difficult at all. If you have the opportunity to take Professor Guerty, you need to be in his class.

Prof is amazing, before each test he gives out a study guide video and explain what to know on the test. You do the assignments in tophat and ask a question in packback. You have a history portfolio and it is about the readings, podcasts, and movies he assigns you. You don't have to watch all the movies or podcasts but know the context.

Guerty was decent online. Class was based on recorded lectures and weekly assignments with a midterm and final, in addition to a project. Lots of reading on a weekly basis but simple assignments. The final project was unnecessary as it was justified as "extra credit", but required for your grade. Easy class that can check a box if you need it.

Strong effort in making the class easy to access and uses external programs for everything. Made a strong effort to convey the feeling of an in-person class to an online format. Lots of reading, watching lecture vids, and listening to podcasts. The final project is a pain to do if you procrastinate. Recommend if you like writing objective essays.

Professor Guerty has great lectures and makes them entertaining. Exams are based straight off the notes/ lectures and from weekly homework (films and readings). If you miss class, the assignments are online and the lectures too. Don't procrastinate on the history portfolio.

Professor Guerty is the best history professor that I have every had. He truly cares about students and their understanding of the material. This class is an easy A if you put in the effort. Most of the class grade is just based on participation and the other is very easy to make an A on.

Professor Guerty's HIST1112 class is very manageable. The assignments and tests are straightforward, and he provides helpful study guides. I found unstuck study a useful tool for exam prep alongside the class materials.

At the beginning of the semester he will explain he does not make attendance necessary, but it is very important that you go. All his lectures are in person and all his tests are open note. To have the notes you obviously need to go to class, but if you miss it never counts against you. Has major project at the end not too hard just time consuming.
