He was a wonderful teacher! I had Mattson one semester and it sucked. I decided to try out this instructor and was super pleased! He is everything that a good instructor should be! An all around great guy!
He was pretty laid back. I left feeling as though I had missed something...
Great instructor! Fun class! Great addition to ARCC.
great teacher and interesting learned alot from him
Very good instructor. He has a way of showing the applications of the economy on daily life. If you are planning on majoring in business this is the instructor to take. He really knows his stuff and plus he gives a fun class
He is a very good teacher and has fun with the class when they participate. He will tell you what is on the test when he has review. All test are essay, so if you are good at those then take it.
Its only the end of the second week, and i am loving econ with this professor! He makes everything clear and interesting, and i love how he talkes about whats going on in the world. Highly recomended if your going to take econ!

Philip makes me laugh every class hes a great guy and even greater professor he knows his stuff and as long as you study for your tests you will do fine!! Hes my favorite teacher at AR!!!
this guy is the best ever
He is the really funny and still knowledgable.
i think he should try getting another job for his sake :-)
Got an A in the class without being able to tell you a thing about economics. Pretty much had to teach myself from the text but I don't think it was his fault-just a difficult course.
Good, fun Economics class. Points for class mostly on exams. 3 exams, and he will go over the whole exam the class before the test. If taking him, make sure to make it to that class!
He is the****!!!! His classes are so fun and he's intresting and he makes you laugh.... by far the best prof at ARCC
Very Very good teacher... I would take any class with him. He has a real world approach to teaching while still using the text.
he's a great teacher. i only read one chapter in the book for the entire course. he tells you all the answers to the test questions and there's only 3 tests in his class. there's no hw either. i took his night class and we got out early alot.
Very funny professor who obviously understands his field. I had him for macroeconomics and it was a very enjoyable class.
He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He brings his first-hand experience into the classroom.
He is the reason I understand, and even like, microeconomics.
Hanson is the man! Dude knows his stuff real well and teachers it at a simplified level for everyone to understand! Able to use notes and he will tell you everything on the test! Great man.
I had him for Micro and it was awesome. He incorporates current events into the class which was really great. Take this teacher.
Class was very easy to understand even if it was microeconomics, was a lecture class, but he keeps you interested, homework was worked on during class and turned in before you left so there was no outside class work other than a study guide you get to use during the tests.
Great Proffesor!
AWESOME I LOVED THIS CLASS!!!! AMAZING!!!!
Excellent teacher! He's worked in the industry before and definitely knows his stuff. I found the class topic (microeconomics) to be very confusing, but I think he made coming to class enjoyable. Would highly recommend!
Great teacher, very knowledgable in the subject, interesting to listen to. He was also able to make the topic interesting which is great for those of us are not economists! :)
Hampton is the man! I took him for both Macroecon and Microecon in the same semester (which I also recommend doing cuz the classes overlap subjects). I don't really care about econ but he made it interesting. He was funny, and plays jeopardy for extra credit. Test review days were important to attend, but otherwise he doesn't care about attendance.
I took Micro with him and it was a wonderful experience. He is lots of fun and very informational. Funny to watch him. If you can read and follow along, easy class with a great instructor!!! Would take him again!
Professor Hampton is the man if you know what I mean ;)
He's an awesome teacher. His classes are fun and informative. He really cares about his students learning the material. I really like how he assigns the homework. He's easy on the eyes too!
Go to class. He is a super fun professor. Doesn't want to be there just as much as you but makes the class super enjoyable. His tests are hard, and his quizzes are harder.
Professor Hampton is extremely laid back. His class is fun and time always flies by. He often lets out students early. He obviously is a successful guy in the economic realm, but he doesn't seem to understand the book material well. If you ever ask questions, he will get worked up, and treat you like you're stupid. Test started easy but got harder.
So disappointed....Countless times I tried to contact him and he would never respond, even before tests when I NEEDED clarity on concepts, I even left a voice mail! Definitely did not get the help I needed--Micro is confusing when all you have to rely on is a book. Don't take online.
I had Hampton for online micro economics. He makes the class way harder than it needs to be. The way he organizes it is a mess and his grammar is horrible. He is also extremely useless when it comes to help. I tried emailing him multiple times about test answers and he would reply with one sentence.
Hampton is the most unhelpful person I've ever met and possibly the most annoying. His assignments don't make sense because it's impossible to sort through his awful grammar and the questions are often unrelated. If you ask a question you're wrong no matter what. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR
He is not helpful at all. Worst professor I've ever had in my life. I can't even type the rest of my thoughts because they are not nice.
This guy is incredibly conceited which is extra annoying because he's not that intelligent .
Professor Hampton is a great guy who is very knowledgeable, willing to help, and makes the best of every class. Show up, have fun, participate and you'll learn and enjoy his classes.
Awesome, you learn a lot in this course!
From an online students perspective. So essentially if you read the book did the homework and such it was an easy A. The problem I have with him is there seems to be no reasoning behind what grades he gives you on the homework.
Do the work get the grade. He offers every weeks assignments answers. Problem is if you don't understand something enough you won't get a response, that would be my only complaint. Overall he is a super fair teacher, just lacks the communication. My age is 30.
He's an effective, laid back teacher. He's funny and smart. So yeah.
This was a great course. Professor Hampton really cares about how his students do. He is always offering words of encouragement and praise when you get something right or do a good job. Do the work and you will get the grade. You really learn the material and understand it. I would definitely take another class from him.
Hampton is the best! I took him for both Micro and Macro and did well in both classes. He takes time to explain the subject matter and makes you work for your grade. He's very knowledgeable about Finance and how the system works. He's fun in class and easy on the eyes! I would totally take another class with him in a heartbeat.
Great teacher!!! I would definitely take another class with him again!!!
Good professor! After each lecture you get in groups and do questions out of the book for points. If you miss class you do it at home and send it to him. All the answers to the questions are in D2L before class even starts. Grades tests the day of. Lets you use notes on each test. He basically reads the test to you to let you know what to study for
Professor Hampton was by far the BEST professor I've ever had. I took Macroeconomics with him "on campus". I am so HAPPY I decided to take his class. He will stay until you understand completely. He's a banker and has Wall-Street experience. He's funny and everything is done in class. No homework unless you miss.
Very amazing guy. Gives you the choice to be in class, attendance doesn't matter. Lets you have a notecard for each test. Definitely need to attend class to understand what is going on. Can tell he loves his job and loves teaching it. All in all would take the class again.
Great professor! Took his class online and loved it. Would highly recommend!
Seems like a nice enough person, but the fact that he ONLY lectures, and doesn't even seem to want to be there makes it a tough class. My whole class averaged a failed test and he blamed it on spring break. Helps if you need it, but doesn't openly make it available.
sucks at teaching , he talks a lot without being clear and doesn't make sense , hes span.
Terrible at teaching. Doesn't care for the students success in the class. He is not clear whatsoever and puts you down when you ask questions. Very arrogant. Thinks hes the best. Unless you know economics, don't take his class. He's span.
Makes everything harder than it really is, his study guides have no relation to the actual test. Makes fun of you for asking for help. Bad overall teacher
we all thought it was cool at first but later realized how doomed we were because this professor doesnt care for you and doesnt care what you do at all. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. TRUST ME.
Show up, take notes, and do the extra credit. Have questions? ASK. Still don't get it? ASK! Homework is done in class with groups. Showing up means you avoid additional homework online. When he reads through the test on "review" day voice record it so the 1pg note sheet he allows you to bring is useful and not full of unnecessary information.
His class average test grades were LOW Cs. He lectures for hours as if you're as informed as he is in Economics. He doesn't explain things well and tells you at the beginning of the semester that he's in his office 30 minutes a week and won't reply to emails promptly. I asked him for help on every homework assignment and my responses? "Good Work"
Simply great professor
I have taken most of my finance classes with him. GREAT!
Professor Hampton does not care about if you come to class or not. JUST be respectful and let him know that you will missing classes.
Amazing person. Makes lectures funny!
Great professor and great person to know.
Was the easiest class i ever took.
worst teacher possible
Very knowledgeable teacher in the field. Interactive lecturing with students, and relates teachings to classmates' diverse & different industries they work in. Up to date with society's current events in business world. Entertaining and articulate in his lectures. I would look him up again for any finance class I need to take.
Literally my favorite teacher I have ever had. Tests can be hard, but you get one front sheet of paper to write notes on and you can use it on the test. Two chances of extra credit. Always working in groups.
His lectures are very fast paced and you need to take good notes. Very little homework unless you miss class. He lets you use a full sheet of notes for tests which is helpful.
Great professor. Heavily involved with his students, and classes.
hampton is absolutely amazing. his sense of humor makes the learning environment laid back and fun. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DONT. he goes through the whole test the class before and you get one page of notes to use on the exam. USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!! Tests are pretty hard so pay attention and put the info on your notes.
He's really engaging, and doesn't teach off a powerpoint like a lot of teachers. He really cares that his students understand the materials and encourages everyone to ask questions if they don't understand something. Homework done in class, exams are difficult unless you pay attention in class and study.
Not very clear on how he wants assignments done. Also is very passive aggressive even for an online class. I suggest picking a different instructor.
I LOVED HAMPTON. Took him for Principles of Macroeconomics a while ago so hopefully the code is right. He lets you have a page of notes for the exams. No final. Lots of extra credit. I got all the points in that class because of the extra credit. I would recommend using the powerpoints to take notes but also reading the book. Super fun guy.
Very mediocre at best. Assignments are really easy and helpful, but exams are worded really strange, which makes them hard. Not a bad prof, just not the best!
I took him, and he is a good professor on the quizzes you can look up most of the answers, I took him online, so no lecture, meaning you actually do have to read the textbook, have to do a discussion post every week with two replies, a quiz every week, and a book problems/questions assignment. Three tests total, these are very very hard.
The course load in this three-credit course made my higher leveled 4 credit courses seem remedial. With very minimal feedback and poor follow-through on disability accommodations, he provides lecture notes with power points that are literal reiterations from the book, with no sign of a desire to see his students succeed. Also limited office hours
If you take this course online, make sure to take a good note. Quiz, homework, and discussion every week. There is minimal feedback from assignments. Do not expect that the exams will be as easy as quizzes. Overall, the class provided most of what you need, and again, you better carefully read and take good notes.
I took Hampton's course online. Lots of textbook reading, but if you do the work, the course is really easy to pass.
In a typical week you have an assignment, a quiz, and a discussion post. The discussion posts you usually read an article and create a 250 word post (and respond). The quizzes and assignments are realtively easy but the tests and everything the work sucks and is hard.
Truly a horrible professor. Rarely any communication throughout the course and extremely hard exams. The workload isn't bad but if you're doing PSEO and looking for an easy class for credits, this isn't the professor to take.
Professor Hampton might be one of the worst professors I've ever had. This class is all busy work and I have learned nothing. I could not get a hold of him after about 5:30 PM and his responses were always basic. Our exams were on stuff we didn't talk about so getting a good grade is almost impossible. You have been warned. Avoid at all costs.
I took principles of macroeconomics with him and it was one of the easiest classes ever this class is so easy in a week you have a homework which consist about a few questions that you have to answer from the textbook and also solutions is given out to you for the questions and also discussion posts and quizzes are given which is easy he is helpful
Good teacher and pretty easy course I would recommend. Make sure your work is turned in on time because he doesn't accept any late work no matter what.
Very hard to get a hold of when taking an online class, very strict grading and does not accept any late work no matter what.
