This Man know his stuff when it comes to Shakespeare. While his teaching style does take a little getting used to, he really makes sure that you walk away from his class with a vast amount of knowledge.

Middleton is evil in a good way... Do not take him if you do not like answering thought-provoking questions or do not like reading.

Thought-provoking and interesting class/prof. Good sense of humor...have to pay attention and read alot, but it is worth it.

Middleton is one of the best profs I ever had. He taught me to think critically about what I read rather than allow me to fill my head with someone else's opinion. I don't believe I could ever thank him enough for what he did for my mind.

You have to do the reading if you want to succeed in his class, and you have to be intelligent enough to know that 2 pages minimum does NOT mean that you can write a 2 page paper and still get an A, but if you work hard his class is very rewarding.

He is hard, and does expect you to read the assignments. Make sure you can write well too because that reallt counts on exams. He is funny as ever though and will help you if you have problems. overall i rate him exceptionally good.

great, great teacher. very funny, very laidback. i had to write 4 papers the whole semester and if you do well enough, he lets you finish the class two weeks early which means no final. take him just for his humor, it'll be your favorite class all day

Middleton is a very intersting teacher and he keeps you interested in class. Don't get caught not paying attention or he'll make an *** out of you. His assignments are kind of hard but it is a good class to take

Best Professor in the 5 years I have been at school

I have taken PB for a few classes. He's on sabbatical and I can't wait for him to get back to take another one. Great sense of humor. Interesting and knowledgeable. LOTS of reading assigned, I never finished the books and I got an A in all his classes.

Middleton is awesome. His class is hilarious, and he is an really cool guy. Grades kind of hard but the class is fun.

Good guy, good class. The key to getting a solid grade is showing up for class.

Good professor, hard essays to do on the handouts and he also gives you extra time if needed. He also calls on people that make the slightest move but does not criticize which is good.

PB is a good guy and a great professor. The essays you have to read are somewhat difficult but he helps you make sense out of them. He will call on people randomly to make sure the class is paying attention. Overall I would reccommend him.

Professor Middleton is the best English teacher Ferris has. He keeps the class entertained all while teaching very valuable literature material that is important to history and culture. I would highly reccomend him.

Don't listen to the naysayers, PB Middleton is quite a professor and quite a teacher. Engaging and helpful, actually seems to care how even freshmen are getting along in his classes. Sorry you didn't re-read the same papers from high-school lit class. Not a good chance of reading that kind of stuff in most other classes. It's great stuff.

Peanut Butter (PB Middleton) is an awesome teacher!! I hated English in HS, but he made this class fun. Essays are easy if you just read the handouts. He's very easy to talk to and has the most random class discussions. I learned a ton and had a great time. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!!!

This is not a professor to allow controversy. Very self absorbed, likes to hear that he is right. Tends to be unethical in grading those who challenge his views. When writing a paper, imagine yourself as a "mini-Middleton", as he likes to hear only what he himself has to say. 75% of the material presented to me I had previously read.

His African Lit class was very interesting. Sometimes it's hard to understand what he is talking about but he makes discussions enjoyable. A lot of reading, but if you don't understand the text and are honest with him, he doesn't mind. If you do all the work, it's an easy A.

Extremely intelligent teacher. Gives you a whole new literary adventure on some usually bland topics. Highly intellectual class conversation. Fun paper/homework topics. Great sense of humor and loves his students. I would highly recommend this teacher and any of his classes.

I left his class learning more than I had expected. Very good professor but also very hard.

He is a very fun proffesor that makes you think. He likes to call on everyone in class so expect to answer some questions. Good thing is, there is no pressure to get things right. He grades papaer kind of hard but lets you redo one at the end of the semester...take him unless you are a bad paper writer...

P.B.'s 250 class starts with 2 short books, one which you use to write a paper. The rest of the semester is nothing but reading essays, interpreting them by definitions, and writing 4 more papers. Class is pretty easy, grades a little tough if you're not a great writer. Also this class is very skipable because most days are just reading.

P.B. is the man!!!! Easy class if you do reading. Also he is very very smart. I recommend him

PB M. = intelligent and informative prof. He likes the class to be interactive and asks a lot of question so that it almost feels like those who know the material better teach it to the less informed.It's a great method.The papers are not that difficult and usually dont have a required length,which makes it a good class if you are't that talkative.

This is one of the most memorible teachers that I have had at FSU. He started by telling everybody that his name was Peanut Butter!! LoL.. Great Man! P.B. is willing to help anyone. Middleton is great at relating famous authors to real life situations.

he is sooo awesome, he makes the class interesting, the books that you read are kind of weird, but the class is pretty sweet, a lot better than i thought it would be.

PB is a very good teacher, and extremely intelligent. The topics for the papers are fun, but the grading is a little on the hard side. Great sense of humor, loves students, attendance is very relaxed. I strongly recommend this class!

alright teacher, but a waste of time, he talks about the most random stuff that doesn't seem to apply to anything. Grading is sorta tough, but he's pretty willing to help you. I felt I got stupider everytime I left class. I would recommend a different teacher if at all possible. Waste of time

Very scattered, unorganized class. He is a nice enough guy though. He grades his honors classes pretty easily and cares more about everyone learning something rather then big assignments.

Pb is a great prof. You want to attend class to understand the material. He is a great guy and he will make you a better writer and a thinker. I would recommend him to anyone. You must work hard to get an A, but he will help you during office hours.

"Good students" use proper grammar and spelling, especially in a writing class. PB Middleton is a great teacher, and will help whenever asked. Great guy, made class a lot of fun.

This man is awesome. He's very helpful, and he keeps the class interesting with his comments and sense of humor.

The class was more of a book club. He goes off on funny stories a lot, and asks lots of good questions, but the class becomes unstructured. He's a cool guy, but makes tests hard to take because you just write what you think and can get marked down if he "didn't think you thought about it enough," which isn't really fair. It's still a good class.

He is very funny and keeps class interesting. He does make everybody participate in class discussions and he makes you think. He's vague on the assignments, but if you ask him for help he will help you find a direction to write.

Great Teacher. Assignments are a little hard to understand but his grading is fair. Class isn't mandatory but he is funny and makes class fun. Take him if possible.

What people fail to realize is that Dr. Middleton does not stick to mundane, textbook subjects, but he is sooooo full of information that you leave his class learning more than you expected. He is a WONDERFUL professor. I feel smarter after taking his classes

One of the best teachers I have ever had! I learned so much about myself while I learned literary from famous writers. If you cannot follow directions and open your mind this is not an instructor for you!

Maybe my favorite teacher ever. He actively engages every student, teaches in a very stream-of-consciousness manner. P.B. is very knowledgeable about a lot of things, including literature. He is enthusiastic about teaching, learning, and life in general. If you have any interest in literature or learning, take Middleton.

I had this instructor last summer. I found his class to be very interestin and thought that it was fun. He does have a different teaching style than most. I find it pleasant for someone to teach outside of the box. I would take another class given the chance.

He is a good professor, all though his lit286 class is beyond pointless. We barely ever do anything in class. If you are looking for an easy A, take his class. He is super funny and always answers your questions if you need help. He does go off on tangents a lot, but i'm not complaining. It makes for an easier class and more fun.

LOVED his class! His lectures don't always make sense but they are interesting. Tests are take home and you just write a paper on one of the books you read. Easiest class I've had so far.

This was by far the most interesting class. Middleton has a different teaching style, but keeps you paying attention by having regular discussions. He'll know your name by the end of the second week. He's a great professor and I'm taking a class with him again for another required English class I have to take.

This class was an absolute breeze. No textbooks, but instead required to rentbuy a $5 book from the bookstore. If you show up to some lectures, its fine. You will have 3-4 short papers due in the class; the longest paper was was 3.5 pages. An average paper was 350 words. He is funny, interesting, & overall brilliant although he doesn't flaunt it.

Really great profclass. I took African Lit and it was more of a study of Africa and its history and culture through literature, more so than a book analysis class. Casual class discussions with an interesting teaching style. Definitely take if you're interested in culture studies but don't really like reading and analyzing books.

Very intriguing man. Tbh, I didn't learn a single thing through his class, but the four papers we wrote took me no more than an hour apiece. I enjoyed his lectures - very different. "Love?" - Love! If you're passionate about learning English I wouldn't recommend, but it makes for a good blowoff. I respect PB a lot!
