Professor Roderick is awesome! Seriously, he's the best teacher I have ever, ever had. He genuinely cares about his students. He is passionate about writing and literature, he listens to his students, he will do anything he can to help them succeed, and most of all, he is just plain good at what he does. He is by far the best teacher here.
awesome awesome awesome instructor! roderick is the only teacher i've ever had who had that unique ability to inspire his students to enjoy literature as much as he does. he obviously reads a ton, and knows his stuff. he's s tough grader on papers, but only because he expects his students to do well, and that is what his job is. highly recommend
OMG he's awesome!!! Rod rules! I'd stack Roderick up against anyone when it comes to english teachers. He is passionate, cares about his students, and he has this incredible ability to make you want to write good for him. Highly recommend
Hands down the best English professor I have ever had. He has this incredible passion for literature, but more than that, he really cares about his students. I had several personal issues, and he could have easily just dropped me, but he worked with me and was very fair. Highly recommend
This by far is an awesome teacher. He has helped me become a better writer in many ways. When I first started Roderick I had been out of school for years. He worked with me when I couldn't put together thesis essay maps, and I enjoy having him for my English teacher. He loves literature and writing is his passion. I took 102,101,and 091 with him.
Best teacher I ever had
The only English teacher I've ever had who taught in a way that students actually look forward to going to class. Best professor I ever had
Phillip Roderick has been an influential part of my learning. His assignments are broad, mostly enjoyable, and sometimes hard. Furthermore, I believe Mr. Roderick is by far the best English Teacher GCC has.
Mr.Roderick is a outstanding teacher. He helps when you need it and he makes learning to write essay interesting by different styles you write in his class.I took him for english 102,101,and 091.Not to mention he is one of the hottest teacher @ GCC.If I could take him again I would.Very Awesome! Very Smart! Very Interesting! Very Good @ English!
Awesome teacher, really nice guy.
Mr. Roderick is a blessing to Gcc. Take his class, he will change your life. He sure changed mine.
Mr. Roderick is great. he can be a little intimidating on the first class but stick with it. I contimplated dropping the course as I thought I wasn't good enough to meet his standards. He has since let me know I am his best student in his class. If you listen to what he teaches and actually put it to practice, you will do fine.
By far the best English teacher I have EVER had. I am beyond grateful that he is teaching at GCC. Mr. Roderick is the most inspiring and helpful teacher I have ever had. He gets students to appreciate English, and he makes the class enjoyable. He explains EVERYTHING and ALWAYS gives out helpful notes and examples. TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM! RECOMMENDED
Good teacher, he loved Poe which is kind of lame, but he helped anyone who asked. Make sure to re-read all of the stories he assigns. The quizzes are all about super-specific not important details, so just be read it in-depth
To comment on the last review, I wonder if it ocurred to you that mr. roderick does'nt give d's to motivate his students? He's also not the only teacher at gcc with this policy. If you think you deserve to pass college with d's then you should'nt be in college. Roderick was an inspiration to me and most of the students in our class
He is very strict and stern and very hard....gives ALOT of homework in fact might be the most out of all ur classes and does ALOT of reading......NEVER take this class over the summer for it is the most stressful thing to do. although he does care very much about his student and grades fais!!! if u dont like alot of homework...DONT take him
Prof. Roderick is a MUST TAKE! You can't take his class and not be better for it. This professor is very helpful and makes his expectations abundantly clear from the very beginning. He will not give a grade that is not EARNED. Is there homework ? Sure...you cannot learn without application. You cheat yourself if you do not take his class...
Great teacher! Although there is much to do in the class, if you attend and participate in class, you will have a good, rewarding time.
Professor Roderick is amazing! If you are taking English 102 you must take his class. He is there for his students 100% of the way. He comes off hard at first, but his "bark is worse than his bite." His class is the best class I have ever taken, and the best teacher I have ever had.
Mr. Roderick is an enthusiast teacher with an incredible passion for his subject. He is easy to understand and very willing to help you to succeed. Excellent teacher.
Like many, I have not had the best english teachers, but Phillip has helped me in so many ways. There is not enough room in this box to express the help and effort that he has given me. The only thing that I can tell anyone looking for a teacher is that he cares about his students and will help you love english and achieve your goal letter grade.
Very good teacher! Always helpful, willing to explain without making you feel stupid. Very friendly. Be prepared to have sufficient amount of work. It's a fair load, but not easy. It will take effort but he's so worth it. He knows what he's talking about and he helps you know how to talk about it too in discussions. Awesome teacher
THIS teacher. he seems really intimidating at first, but he's a sweet guy. very young, and has high expectations in good students, and can be super anal :) very honest and blunt but will take the time to help you succeed if you care. he's fun too, he'll bring in funny videos just b/c and actually picks good movies to watch in class!
He knows exactly what he is talking about, and that made it very easy for me to understand his directions. Although the class itself was a little tough, but he was very friendly and always willing to help. I have to say sometimes what he expects sometimes seems like OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS, but trust me his class is worth it! Extremely good teacher!
Professor Roderick has to be the biggest inspiration I have ever had. I had him as my first-ever college class in ENG101, and his encouraging comments on my papers brought about my desire to become an English Major. He IS tough on grading, but he is also very willing to help each student that needs it. Absolutely THE BEST TEACHER EVER.
This professor is extremely hard in his grading. This is not a problem for me, but my pet peeve involves having to spend additional money on a short story packet. I have to spend $60+ on textbooks and more $ on a packet. I don't understand why he cant't just teach from the textbook. There's plenty of literature in it.
Phillip Roderick is by far the best teacher I have ever had. I took his course several years ago and he was amazing. I loved his lessons and how he incorporated his love for Poe into the lessons. It was very unique and thoroughly interesting. I wish he taught more classes :)
he's ok
Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. Prof Roderick is everything a teacher should be and more. He treats you like a person, not a number. He can seem tough at first, and he is demanding, but only because he wants your best. He gives you the tools and information you need to get an A. What you do with that is up to you. Excellent professor
Professor Roderick is an example of the ideal professor. He is extremely helpful and never turns you away. He is great!
Extremely good professor. Great help and concern for students education. Highly recommend. Would take another class from him. Great resource for questions and improving writing skills.
This teacher is the best. He will help you for sure, and you will not just pass the class without any hard work. You have to read a lot, but that's for your own good.
Mr. Roderick is without a doubt my FAVORITE English teacher ever. He expects a lot of his students though and you have to be up for the work load. However, he is more than willing to help and go beyond for any student as long as you are really there to learn and do the work. I've had every one of my English classes with him and loved them ALL.
We read short stories and took quizzes on them. They were not hard. He comes off as strict but really cares and helps often. I remember during our research paper, he would send off many emails in case we needed any help. He ended up shortening paper length requirements and gave us VERY detailed feedback on all our work. Recommended.
Roderick has been one of my absolute favorite teachers here thus far. Having also had him for ENG101, I knew exactly what to expect when coming into the 102 class--a tough, yet fair teacher, who is willing to bend over backwards to help you succeed. I disliked English before coming into his classes, and I'd now be considered a great student in ENG.
Awesome professor. Very helpful.
Awesome! Helpful, smart, keeps the class interested.
Good guy, he cares about opening his students mind to great literature as well as delivering great papers.
He is very hard, so if you're expecting this class to be put on the backburner...you shouldn't take him. He's a good teacher, but if your other classes are more of a priority then I would suggest taking a teacher who is easier.
One one word describes Professor Roderick, and it really isn't big enough: GREAT!
Easily one of the best professors at GCC. Taught me how to be a better writer. I got an A in his honors 102 class, but it was not easy at all. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. Want a challenge? Want to actually learn? Take Roderick.
The most wonderful and great instructor at GCC. i loved his class. Very hard working and willing to help. He never gets tired, he is a well prepared in the classroom. he loves literature. Highly suggested. take his class, you will change your opinion about writing. extremly supportative teacher, he is always there to help you.take his class. Great
GREAT teacher.. makes literature interesting.. The class is difficult that's only because one is learning =]
He is the best teacher ever! He is beyond helpful, always answering questions on his email, arranging appointments with you. Let me just say, he is very demanding on what he is looking for, but its only for your own good. It's not an easy A, BUT, focus and do good on essays and READ THE STORIES HE ASSIGNS! (: .& he's so cute to look at in class (:
Unbelieveable professor. Roderick inspired me to reach my full potential as a writer. I took 101 and 102 with him and cannot believe how much better my writing got in that time. My advice to anyone is to give him a chance and see for yourself why 99% of his reviews are positive
Professor Roderick is truly a blessing to the academic world. He is honestly the most inspirational instructor I have ever come across. He deeply cares about his students and is extremely invested in their learning. He is very open-minded and treats each student and their ideas with respect. His class will change your life!
I can't give this professor enough praise. Absolutely the best teacher I've ever encountered. Really cares about his students' education - you WILL be a better writer after you take his course, and you WILL be prepared for future college papers that you will need to write. Not an easy A, but if you're serious about your education, take his class!!
If you're reading this congratulations on your appraisal from others Professor Roderick you deserve it. This man is the best teacher one could possibly ask for. He's a true inspiration, passionate about his work, and very personal in his grading. I had him for English 101 and Honors English 102 and cannot express how honored I was to be his student
He is the one professor you'll remember twenty years from now for expecting your best and caring enough about you to help you be your best. He makes other professors look like clowns. Yes, he's that amazing
Professor Roderick deserves all the possible awards there is for an educator. He is utterly proficient in the field he teaches. Writing this makes me feel quite conscious, for there is a minuscule chance he might come across this, and I do not want to disappoint him.
Amazing professor. Only been in his class for five weeks but it's already apparent why students love him. He is so organized. Keeps class interested. Funnier than he appears. Genuinely cares about us and isn't afraid to tell is. I feel like a person in his class instead of a number like all my other classes. I love going to class and hate when it ends!
Though I've already passed English 102, I took this professors class just to see what all the hype is about (and to improve my grade) and now I know. Prof Roderick is everything people say he is and more, and I am a better writer and even person for taking his class.
Amazing professor! This guy is everything people say he is and more. Don't expect am easy A, and don't expect him to hold your hand. After all this IS college. I was so intimidated at first but I can tell anyone who is worried to just do what he asks and give it time because he is simply great at what he does. That's all I can say about him
An Awesome Professor!!! extremely professional, well organized, caring and intelligent. He is a prime example of a good role model. He is simply the BEST!!!! He brings the best out of me.
Mr Roderick is a good teacher. I would recommend him to any student. Do not think, you would take his class ,and not learn, because Mr Roderick is fare with grading, you will get the grade you earned. Mr Roderick will give you contructive criticism, and that only made me better.I appreciate him for that. If I had to take his class again I would.
I just completed the best class I ever took with the best professor I ever had. To anyone who is thinking about tells king a class from mr Roderick I have this advice; if you want an easy A and want to sit in class and space out, he is not for you, but if you actually want to learn how to love literature and write about it you will never find a greater teacher than Roderick
I took Roderick's class because of all the "hype" surrounding him. I also heard that he could be a bit condescending and brutally honest. Yet, Roderick is a nice guy. He offers a lot of examples of papers before they are due. He also offers a lot of extra credit. DO NOT take his class if you have a full schedule or plan to slack! Nice guy...
Efficient and organized Prof. Literature based class. Reading stories with quizzes every week. 3 papers due through semester. Lots of extra credit avail. Midterm and final exam on authors lives and must write a free form essay. Prof will give you lots of handouts and all the info you need to succeed.
I don't want to sound corny but I can confirm what other have said here. Mr Roderick is the greatest professor you will ever have. My first impression was to run to enrollment to drop his class, but I am so glad I trusted him. He is tough but caring. He hates absences but if you are honest with him there's nothing he won't do to help you. The best!
Roderick has changed my life. I came so close to dropping his class because he seemed so intimidating but my advise? Give him a chance. He is fair and inspiring. Because of him I've changed my major, but most of all he has made me a better student and writer. I'll never forget him
Excellent teacher. He sets clear expectations and helps students meet them. He will work harder than you will to help you learn.
If you want to learn how to write and if you care about literature and are willing to work hard, than Roderick is the professor to take. If you expect to sit in class and veg all semester and still pass, then he is not the professor for you. I have never had a teacher that inspires and motivates students like him. You will not regret taking him.
Roderick is a teacher who will change your life! He will show you the correct way to write an essay and help you whenever you need it because he cares. I have taken his classes for the past two semesters & I have never had a better experience in school than in his class. Don't expect an easy A though. You have to work hard to get a good grade.
There's something to be said for a professor when nobody drops his class and everyone works hard for him. Mr Roderick is simply the most amazing man and teacher I have ever known. You will work hard, but you will love every minute and eventually you will realize that he cares about you, not only as a student, but a person too. He is the best there is. I can't praise him enough
Professor Roderick is literally the most committed teach to his students. He is fun & open minded. He will make you a better writer. Plenty of Xtra credit ops. If you don't like to read you will still love his class. Best Teacher and very Smart. Thanks P-Rod Conley G.
On one hand, even though I dropped the class some of the things he taught have stuck with me and have made me a better writer..but he takes himself too seriously.Treats us like we're grad students, not in a 100-level class. He's very smart, thourough, but overall a bit too pretentious for my taste. If you want to be challenged it's a perfect class.
Roderick is the the real definition of teacher, very helpful and caring person. the first day of class, he might scared the crap out of you.just work hard at the its might pay off. thank to Roderick.
If you want to be a better writer, take his class.
Wow, words cannot describe how amazing and TALENTED this professor is. He completely changed my writing potential and view on literature. I am beyond grateful. I have never seen a professor so passionate with their job.So, if you are up for a life changing challenge, take this course. He is strict, challenging, yet very reasonable. He is the best!
Amazing, amazing, amazing teacher. I honestly miss the heck out of Roderick after taking Sanders. Class was very organized, fun, and helpful. Take his classes and you will be beyond satisfied. :-) He has helped me learn about English more than anyone I know!
You will never have a better professor or a better experience. Prof Rod doesn't just teach, he changes lives. He can appear pretty tough at first but he lightens up quickly and if you work hard and give your best, he will mentor you and inspire you for life. Im not only a better writer but also a better person because of him. I can't think of anyone in our class who didn't feel the same way. Thank you prof Roderick for changing my life !
I can't say enough good about mr Roderick. Honestly, GCC should clone this guy and replace all the other slackers in the english department with him. He's the only professor at this school who has truly taught me anything. He challenged me and taught me how to think and for that, I will be forever grateful . If you want to veg and skate by, take someone else. If you want to learn how to write and think and appreciate literature then take roderick.
He has a passion for teaching. He inspired me.
All I can say is WOW! Seriously, professor Roderick is not just a teacher, but someone who will change your life. He is smart, organized, fair and thoughtful. He treats us with respect and like people, not numbers. I've never had a teacher like him ever.
Amazing Professor, definitely would take him again in a heartbeat. Thorough and makes sure that everyone is on the same page by emailing and interacting with his students. GCC needs more professors like him. Hell, he needs to teach a class for professors, so they can properly teach us.
Very passionate and helpful instructor. Full of knowledge to deliver. Relevant to knowing and understanding english and how to write well. Extremely glad I took this class and had him as a teacher.
Very passionate and helpful instructor. Full of knowledge to deliver and relevant to knowing and understanding english and how to write well. Extremely glad I took this class and had him as a teacher.
I've never had a professor who cared so much and gave so much of himself for his students . Students don't give a second thought to missing other classes, but nobody misses Roderick's class. Every class is interesting, informative, and interactive. If you don't take him you are really missing out
Loved LOVED him! He broke me of some awful writing habits i had and pushed me to become a better writer, which not many English teachers do lately. It's not the easiest class in the world but it was definitely a blast to be in and he made it incredibly interesting!
Wow! What a professor. What a class! Be prepared to work your butt off, but also be prepared to enjoy every second of Roderick's classes. I've taken four classes with him and loved each one. Honestly, he's such a good teacher that GCC should have him teach other English instructors how to teach, because they all stink next to him. Trust me, you won't regret taking him
Best teacher on campus! He is a must have during your college experience. Roderick will be the professor you remember years from now. He is helpful, sets clear expectations, and cares about your grade. If you need help he'll help you outside of class. Work hard and you'll walk out of his class a better writer and person. Wonderful teacher.
great teacher! great class! this was a night class and Roderick made it not only fun but interesting. He assigns enjoyable books and the course load isn't to hard. All you have to do to pass the class is read the stories and complete the evals. A great HU 200 level class with an awesome teacher. Highly recommended!
I think I failed his class, but since this an evaluation of Professor Roderick and not of the grade he gave me, I will be fair: He is among the most dedicated teachers I have ever encountered. He takes pains to clarify what he expects and takes equal pains to help students meet those expectations. My grade was a reflection of me and not of him.
Professor Roderick is by far, one of the most dedicated, caring and passionate teachers out there. He truly cares about his students' success, but is firm in his belief that it is up to us to put in the effort to pass his class. There is a decent amount of reading and only 3 essays to write. As long as you take this class seriously, you will pass.
Let me be clear: you will NEVER have a better experience in a class and you will never have a better professor. No doubt he makes us work, but he is fair when appropriate and the most inspiring teacher I've ever had.
Class requires a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it. He is a great teacher and is very willing to help when you need it.
In your life you may get lucky enough to have a teacher who changes your life. Prof Roderick is that teacher. I learned more from him in one week about how to write than I did in my previous 19 years of school. Don't be fooled by his intimidating demeaner. He is sweet and funny and smart and kind. If you take his class you will see why he has such a great reputation. He deserves it.
I never used to like literature or even reading, but I enjoy and understand it now. I took a summer course with him, it was fast paced but he taught me so much in these short 5 weeks. I admit it is a lot of work, but its worth it and he offers a lot of extra credit! It is very possible to get an A! He is so funny and genuinely cares about students!
Be prepared to spend a lot of time on homework. Not a very enjoyable experience. I would not recommend his classes. However, he is fair. If you show up and do the work you will be fine.
Great professor. Took the summer class, it was fast-paced but still doable. 3 essays, one 3 pages, one 5 pages, and one 6 pages long. Whole class is about discussing short-stories and learning about different authors, which you will write two research papers on. There is a quiz on almost every short-story read. Gives TONS of extra credit! Greatprof
Best class I ever took. Read great novels, watched the films and discussed both. Roderick bought us pizza several times. Homework is film eval and the reading. Yes reading takes time but I took the class to learn and read novels id never read before. Great experience and teacher
He can seem intimidating, but Roderick designs his class to reward those who work hard. If you put in the time and effort, he will help you to hell and back. 3 essays, heavy on the reading, lots of extra credit. Show him that you're dedicated and he will give you all of that dedication back.
Mr. Roderick is very passionate about teaching and with helping his students gain a greater understanding of the material. He does hold students accountable for the assignments, but if you do the work, you will have no problem.
Very smart teacher this was my second time taking his class and it was good. The only problem is be prepared for tons of work. I had to read 8 books for the semester and didnt get to read them all. He will give you 2 weeks to read a book, 1 week on the shorter books. You will get an A if you read fast and take alot of notes.
Very smart teacher, gives out papers to help you do well in his class. There is a ton of reading but if you show up and do the work you will get an A. He cares about his students and is their to help when its needed.
This is a writer's class. Read assignments take the quizzes. Write 3 papers. 1000 points total for class. Papers are rated at 100, 200 and 300 points each. Grading and ruberick is explained on first day and is listed on syllabus. Papers have separate ruberick that he returns with paper. Prof Roderick is the best English professor I have ever had.
Mr. Roderick has done more for me as a person and as a student than any teacher I have ever had. He has an almost mysterious way of making us want to work hard and do well for him, and he rewards us when we do so. He tells us exactly what he expects, teaches us how to apply ourselves, and holds us responsible for what we do. Amazing teacher
Professor Roderick is hands down my favorite teacher in any subject. He believes in his students enough to constantly push us to do better. His instructions and expectations are always very clear and included in the syllabus and the many many many handouts. He is funny, organized, consistent, personable, and will actually read your essays.
After taking ENG 102 and 107, Prof Roderick was the first English teacher to really point out specific problems with my essays and teach me how to correct them: verb tenses, integrating quotes, any grammar problems, MLA guideline issues, you name it. He is a task master, but very fair. He is for those who truly want to improve their writing.
Best teacher I ever had. Expects a lot from students, but makes expectations perfectly clear. Very likable, good-hearted person.
Professor Roderick is a great teacher. He has high standards, but is willing to work with his students to help them achieve their full potential.
Really loves writing and discussing classic writers. You read a couple different short stories and take quizzes on the stories. Their were 3 essays but they are not too difficult. Always responds to emails and cares about his students. Kind of hard grader but he tells you what he wants so the rest is up to you. Show up everyday and you'll be fine
Be prepared to read, read, read. If you do that there is no reason why you shouldn't pass any of his classes. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. I can honestly say I learned more in his class than in any other class I've taken. If you want to learn (and will do the assignments) take his class. I recommend Roderick to everyone.
Professor Roderick is one of those people that truly love what they do. His love for teaching and literature is what made me love the class even more. I was intrigued by every short story we read in his class, and by the stimulating discussions we had. He is by far by favorite teacher at GCC. His class is not easy, but completely worth it.
Professor Roderick is the best teacher ever. He's passionate about his job, cares about his students, and is a funny person. His class is a lot of hard work and quizzes but totally worth it. I seriously can not get over how amazing he is. I've taken 4 of his classes because I refuse to take an English class with anyone else. He's so awesome!
Roderick takes literature that is very difficult to read and understand, and makes it clear to us. He works so hard for his students success that I told him to take a semester off. He laughed it off bug it's true. I have never had a better, more positive experience in any class my entire life. That's Roderick. That's what you get from him.
I have had him for 3 classes and he is one of the best professors I have had. His class is difficult, he grades tough, and gives lots of quizzes. BUT he teaches and thoroughly explains exactly what he wants you to learn. He is so passionate about writing and will help you in any way he can so that you understand better. I got A's in all 3 classes.
IF YOU TOOK RODERICK FOR 101, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING HIM FOR 102. The work load is about the same and you already know what to expect from him. Lots of easy quizzes, discussions, and essay planning. He grades diligently so turn in something you would want him to critique harshly (because he will). Great guy, loved the class!
I loved every second of this class. Roderick turned me from an average writer into a great writer with confidence in my ability to write any essay. Unlike every other teacher I've had at Gcc, he actually grades our essays, and he's the only teacher I've ever had who really cared about me as a student. I never felt I was a number. He works us hard but is always clear on what he wants us to do. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to write and write well.
If you want to learn, Roderick is your man. He actually TEACHES, and he really cares about his students. I was terrified of writing when I began his class, but now I'm a confident writer, and most other papers seem easy now. he IS a HARD teacher, if you're not willing to come to class, or seek help. If you want and easy class, look elsewhere.
Professor Roderick is a great teacher! Always willing to help! It is not an easy class but if you ask for help and work hard you will do well in his classes. I learned a lot about writing and literature in professor Roderick's class. I recommend him to anyone that likes a professor who is willing to help every step of the way! :)
Professor Roderick is an absolutely amazing teacher! I love him so much! He cares a lot about his students and he's extremely helpful. His classes are not easy, but if you work hard, you'll do well. I seriously can't get over how amazing he is! And he's super HOT too. :) I would definitely recommend Roderick to anyone who wants a GREAT professor.
Great class. Be prepared to read 300 page books in one week. Evals are always due hard copies. Quizzes are easy but even if you read the book expect to miss questions on the quiz. He says he'll know if you read or did not read the book based on your scores but ... eh. Also you can do without the $80 text book. You only read 3 chapters.
He DEMANDS excellence and does not expect anything less. He grades harshly but for your benefit. His constructive criticism is not meant to bring you down but instead better you as a writer! He is a wonderful teacher, and I learned SO much in his class. He may seem intimidating at first, but he is so friendly and cares about ALL his students.
He is the best teacher I've ever had, and my absolute favorite. He will do everything he can to help a student learn and achieve their academic goals. He is intimidating at first, but extremely helpful, funny, and an overall amazing teacher! I encourage everyone to take his class! It has been the most rewarding choice of my college experience.
I took Roderick during a summer section, and his class was awesome you learn, and enjoy his class. He focuses in literature so if you like literature this is the class for you. He is a great teacher, for those students that actually want to learn and are willing to give it all. I really enjoyed his class and I will totally recommend him.
It was a summer class so it went fast and was intense, but it was an entirely enjoyable experience. I don't know that most of my peers appreciate what they have in professor Roderick he is the most caring and hard working teacher I have ever had. Consider yourself lucky if you end up in his class
Professor Roderick is an amazing professor. In one summer class he has completely changed my writing skills for the better. He pushes his students because he knows what they're capable of. His class isn't a joke. You have to work hard, but it will be worth it because you learn so much. It was a phenomenal class and I am glad I took it!
Roderick will make you work harder than any other professor, but you will be better for it. He cares about the success of his students and the quality of his teaching. He is clear and concise and does not falter. Every student should be required to take his ENG102 course before leaving GCC.
I took him over the summer and escaped with an A in the class, but it was very difficult. Roderick will make you work hard, but he will also help you learn better than most professors. There was one paper that received a grade and comments that I did not think were valid. However, as long as you do the work and come to class, you'll be fine.
Professor Roderick is passionate about literature & wants to share that whis students. You will do a decent amount of reading but it's not hard. He requires you to be fully active in your learning & will do what he can to help you. If you truly want to learn & have fun, take his class! He is by far the greatest professor @ GCC. Truly enjoyed him.
He's an excellent teacher that at times can be a tough grader. His criticism is necessary and will only make you a better reader. It is obvious that he wants his students to learn. He has high expectations but they are achievable. Don't use Google docs. Use word. He's strict on format and font. Always read the material he says, quizzes for all.
The hardest class I've ever taken. He will make you work harder than anyone on that campus. It is really hard to write up to his standards when you've never had an instructor like him. You will also read a lot of short stories and be quizzed on them during the week and then you analyze them. All you do is read and analyze stories.
Professor Roderick is a great teacher. He is well organized and very clear on instructions. Excellent communication skills! He is always on top of answering questions in or out of class. Professor Roderick cares about his students. I would recommend taking his classes.
Having taken five classes with Prof. Roderick, I feel particularly qualified to confirm what other students have said here. You will never have a teacher better than him, ever. I can't explain what makes him great. He must be experienced, so take a class from him and give him a chance and you will see what makes a great teacher.
I have never, EVER, had a teacher that cared about the students and their success as much as Roderick did. I wish I had more room to write all of the amazing things about him, but I'll sum it up; makes you work for your grade, but helps as much as you ask, responds to emails FAST, keeps convos light, LOVE edgar allan poe, looks like Derek Jeter 3
The best English teacher I've ever had. Roderick is very passionate about literature and really cares for his students. Highly recommend!!
The essays can be a little intimidating but he always helps and is very specific with what he wants. As long as you follow instructions, go to class every day, and read the assigned stories, you can get an A. Professor Roderick is AWESOME, he can seem scary at first but he really cares about his students and is a pretty funny guy.
350 characters isn't enough to express my feelings about Professor Roderick. I've taken six classes with him, and if I could take six more, I would. He is not easy. He makes you work hard. Very hard. He is also the most caring and dedicated teacher I have ever had. Sets high expectations, and kills himself to help you reach them. Amazing teacher.
I withdrew because issues i had, but he is a great teacher. He walks into the classroom everyday with helpful papers all bundled together with rubber bands and his tablet. He speaks with passion about english and practically begs for discussion from his students. He is a tough grader, probably tougher than any english teacher you'll ever have.
Roderick is the BEST professor at GCC. He sincerely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He is passionate about literature and introduces you to so many awesome authors poets. He is strict about his rules grading, but as long as you follow his directions, you should not have any issues. Hands down best professor I have ever had.
Professor Roderick is exceptional. He provides thorough, useful feedback on assignments. He has clear grading criteria, and makes his expectations known. He makes himself available to help students outside of class. He's insightful and his class structure is smart--something rare. The grade you receive will be the one you earn. Take him!
Inspirational. I'm graduating in a few months, and I have never had a professor who has inspired me more. This guy makes you work hard and believe in yourself. I went back to take more classes just to brush up on my writing skills before finishing my BA.
Professor Roderick. I don't have enough words for this man. I have never been so inspired by one individual. I came out of this class with a greater love for literature and learning. He will kill himself to help you and truly wants you to succeed. He is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. Anyone who takes him is incredibly lucky.
Professor Roderick is a professor who I will personally never forget. His class is definitely not an easy A but if you're willing to put in the time and effort this class will be both fun and inspirational. His passion is amazing towards teaching and helps you if you email him. Perfect attendance is EC. This guy is a must take.
Gives amazing feedback! One of those life changing professors. Creates encouraging circumstances. Only wants to make students better and prepared for university. Also took ENG 200 with him. Work is time consuming. Set time for it. The 3 hour study rule applies to ENH 221.
Started the semester dreading this class. There's a reason I made it to the end. It's this guy. Roderick is very much a class act, and is so great he successfully motivated the worst procrastinator of this generation. He's a genius and an inspiration. Yes, you'll work for your grade... But you'll be glad you did.
I took Roderick's ENG102 course. It was the hardest class I have taken. You need to work for your grades. The challenges are very rewarding. Always get a head start on your papers if possible. His due dates will creep upon you. And do all the reading he assigns since he will give you quizzes on everything.
Professor Rodericks class is tough, but if you work ahead of the due dates it makes it a bit easier. What struck me the most about him is that he genuinely loves literature and truly wants his students to become better writers. I loved the class and Roderick is an even better guy. Highly recommend
Professor Roderick is one of the most inspirational and extraordinary individuals I've ever met. Though he may seem intimidating at first, there really is nothing to fear. He is always willing to give help if you seek it. However, bear in mind that you must work very hard in his classes. Attend office hours and ask questions frequently. Loved it!
Great professor, but if you are not prepared to take this class seriously, DO NOT take it. He truly is an inspirational professor, and I'm considering changing my major to English because of him. Oh, and all your previous English professors have lied to you; take his class to learn the proper way to write thesis statements, you won't regret it.
If you want to work harder than ever, not have your questions answered properly, and receive ALL the information about assignments last minute, take his class!
Professor Roderick is an incredible instructor. If you really want to improve your writing skills and challenge yourself, then take his class. Otherwise, take an easier instructor. Professor Roderick is the real deal. He is there for you and wants you to improve, but hard work is necessary. I recommend him 100%!
Great professor! He communicates his expectations cleary, and provides a lot of handouts during the semester to aid you in your essays. Keep in mind though, Professor Roderick is not an easy A. You MUST be completely sure you are prepared for his class to take him, and work hard during the semester to succeed. I can't recommend him enough.
This man is such an amazing teacher. His first impression is intimidating, but he genuinely cares for his students. His class is not whether it's easy or not, it's whether you know the material, or you don't. Work hard and apply his criticism to your work, and if you write how you speak, you'll pass this class. Excellent teacher and inspiring
Professor Roderick is an amazing professor, he is indeed intimidating at the beginning ,but once you get to know him it is totally different. He's very approachable and he made me realize how beautiful literature can be. He is a hard grader that's how you learn how to improve your writing skills. I have never had a professor as awesome as he is.
Roderick is a great professor! He loves, but most of all he believes he has the mission to educate and form students for the world. The only way to pass this class is to read everything and actually go to class. The test had tough essays, but they're tough because you must think about it and write it down during class time (I am a slow writer).
Roderick is a great professor, but he is very strict, and expects the best out of his students. He wants people to leave his class better students. In this class, there are novel/film evaluations that you do, but they are easy. This class is reading intensive, so DO NOT take if you are not ready to read novels in 1-2 weeks! Loved this class!
Professor Roderick's passion for literature is remarkable. It really shows in this class. In this class, there are three unit exams, which are HARD, but if you study well and read EVERYTHING - you will do fine. There's many quizzes too, but if you've read, you'll do fine. Roderick makes you work for your grade, but you feel accomplished leaving.
You read a lot in the course but you don't have to buy a textbook which is nice. He gives you a handout of the readings and he gives you plenty of helpful handouts. He is the toughest grader you will come across in your english career. I promise you that. Listen to him and take into account everything he does. He cares a lot about his students too.
After reading all of the reviews of Professor Roderick I am not sure what I can add that could be anymore helpful. He is, hands down, the best professor you will ever have. In just five short weeks of summer school, he completely changed the way I write, and how I approach writing. I can't explain Roderick. He must be experienced.
Professor Roderick is, without a doubt, the best instructor I ever had at GCC. He truly cares about the interest and the future of his students. He is a tough grader and assigns a lot of reading, but his feedback is phenomenal, and his lectures are amazing, you actually want to read the homework. He is one of the reasons I am going to be a teacher.
Roderick is a tough professor but an overall nice guy. My only complaint is that he isn't usually helpful outside of class and doesn't set up meetings to discuss papers. I took 2 different literature classes with him and found the class to be difficult and not that enjoyable of an experience. Be expected to work hard for your grades.
Roderick seems knowledgeable about American lit and especially about Poe. However he seemed to put too much of an emphasis on reading literature and not teaching writing skills. I got a C and left without any new knowledge about writing that I didn't know already.
Unclear about content for assignments and what needed to be done to achieve the highest grade. High pressure environment in class where pop quizzes came out of nowhere. Did learn much about literature but felt that his standards were too high for first year English.
Not going to lie, Professor Roderick TOUGH. His class was one of the biggest sources of stress for me during the semester, but you know what? If I had the option of doing it all over again, I would still choose Roderick. I would choose Roderick every single time, because he is worth it. No professor out there is worth it as much as Roderick is.
This dude isnt that tough you just have to follow his rules like every other professor. Its fine unless your a stem guy/gal and english/writing isnt your thing.
Hes a tough professor and someone to take if you are after a challenge. One of GCC's finest and someone who can help you become better at writing. His class wasn't "fun" but it was the type of course that could improve your skills if majoring in English/
THE TOUGHEST teacher I have ever had in my life. He GENUINELY cares about his students as individuals, and pushes you to do your best FOR YOURSELF. Buy the book- 85% of his lectures and stories are from the book. He says you're better for taking his class and it's honestly true; you'll learn a lot if you work for it. This class is not easy.
Professor Roderick is the kind of person that sees potential in every one of his students, kills himself to serve them, and genuinely rejoices when they grow as writers. He motivated me to be a more sophisticated writer, a more dedicated student, and simply a better person. He is really unique. I will never forget Roderick.
Taking from Roderick is a once in a lifetime opportunity. He makes you work for your grade in a way I have never experienced, but if you work hard and communicate with him, he will cross an ocean for you. I took his class and left as a better writer, and even a better person. He is one of those professors that will truly encourage and inspire you.
Even though the class I took with Roderick (ENH221) is seriously the hardest class I've ever taken in my life, I really admire Roderick for his dedication to literature and his students. The man is amazing. Seriously... take a class with Roderick. Don't get me wrong though. You'll suffer. A lot. However, you'll be grateful you gave him a shot.
I am thankful that I was able to take four of Roderick's courses at GCC. I am a stronger reader, writer, and person because of his example, instruction, guidance, and devotion. I don't have enough characters to describe how grateful I am for him and his brilliantly planned/executed English courses. In sum, I'm tired but stronger.
I wanted Roderick as a prof. due to the reviews on RMP & they are accurate!! He is AMAZING! Turn your brain on for this class as laziness will only lead to failure. Every essay is hand-graded for grammar, continuity, analysis & creativity. His classes are a challenge because he cares about the success of his students! Maximum effort is required!
College is mainly classes and professors that make no difference in your life... except for Roderick's classes - he is the professor you'll remember ten years from now. He pushes you to succeed, guides you every step of the way and is constantly fighting in your corner. His classes are difficult, but you'll finish a better writer. Take his class.
I began this class with a love of writing. Not anymore. Mr. Roderick has a difficult time conveying what he expects of students. If at all possible, find another teacher.
He is the toughest professor Ive had and I really was dissapointed in the class. I feel he just doesnt teach you anything new and his grading standards are too high especially for an introductroy level class.
I'm very grateful for the educational experience I received in Roderick's class. I entered the class knowing he was a tough grader, but also that he cared about his students, and I found that to be the case. Good students love him. Lazy students don't. I learned more in his class about writing than in 12 previous years in school.
I think it says much of the character of a student when they bully their professor for getting what they deserve and not what they want. Do these young men and women still think they're in middle school and not college? I would pay big money to see if these "students" would actually repeat what they say here to Roderick's face. Grow up.
Take his class seriously or you'll regret it, trust me. Lots of writing and reading, but he is extremely clear about what he wants and expects from you. Always willing to help you if you ask. Attending every day is crucial. Extremely strict but you can tell he genuinely cares about what he does and wants to help you succeed. I'll never forget him.
Awesome class! Read lots of great books. Only complaint is that he did NOT make accommodations for anyone during a holiday. (made me miss a flight)
I contacted him several times through email but he never responded through the semester. Didn't have much time to meet outside of class. I just didn't learn that much about writing as I had from my 101 professor and it's disappointing because I am an English major. This is just nothing more than my honest personal opinion of him as a professor.
Hands down best professor I've ever had. I had him for Lit and Film as well as Eng 102 - he made class exctiting and was always available for outside help. You can tell he cares about his students. He will make you work for your grade but it is worth it. Wish he taught my other classes!
A fantastic professor who really cares about his students' success- always responds to emails with in-depth explanations and is incredibly helpful and patient if you're willing to reach out to him. If you want a challenging and rewarding experience, definitely take his class.
Roderick possesses that one quality that eludes the vast majority of teachers I've had at GCC--he genuinely cares about his students, he loves reading and writing, and he will do anything for his students to help them succeed. Nearly 100% of the criticisms of Roderick are outright lies. He always responds to emails and is always available. Always.
I have a profound respect for Prof. Roderick and his approach to teaching. He respects his students and acknowledges when your ideas have given him new insight into literature. If you are ever concerned about an assignment, talk to him. You receive FAR more from his course(s) than the money invested. My best decision was signing up for his class.
This class is very reading intensive. He gave long lectures but wasn't very clear on what he expects from assignments.
If you are going to whine about reading a lot or writing essays, then DON'T take Roderick's class. If you are going whine about the grade you receive, which is a representation of YOU, not him, DON'T take his class! A piece of advice: Roderick's classes take dedication and HARD, HARD work. But you finish the class a better student and person!
This class was challenging, but enjoyable.
Roderick is great! He really reminds me of an English professor version of Urban Meyer coach of Ohio State football. Even looks just like him! Nice guy who yes does make you bust your hump but he makes you better at writing. This is not the class for lazy and ignorant people its a class for those who want a challenge!
I have never had a teacher care so much for each of their students. Roderick is very willing to go the extra mile with you to help you succeed. It does take a lot of hard work, but as long as you do the reading and are willing to ask for help then you will learn great things from him. If I could give a 10/10 I would. This teacher is amazing!
It was a difficult class to say the least. Lots of reading but not very clear instruction. Confusing and difficult. Doesn't answer your questions clearly. I had to work very hard for a B.
There is nothing wrong with my work ethic. I can work with a hard professor, but Roderick is a special case. Avoid his class at all costs! If it is the only English class available, wait a semester for another teacher to be available. I hope that you have a successful GCC career.
Roderick is, hands down, the best professor I ever had at GCC, and I know for a fact that I'll never encounter anyone better. He is caring, but he also knows how to push you so your writing improves. He chooses literature that is interesting and lets everyone share their opinion during class discussions. Taking his class was a great choice.
I am incredibly grateful for Roderick's class. He was the only professor at GCC that pointed out my writing mistakes and motivated me to think deeply about literature. He likes saying that good things are worth working for, and that was certainly the case for me with Roderick.
Great professor. Helped me so much with my writing. I failed his class on my first try, but that was my fault. Rodrick is tough, but he teaches so much in his class. You won't regret taking his class.
Professor Roderick is the best professor I have had so far!! His class is hard, yes, but it is totally do-able. He is clear in what he wants from his assignments and has great lectures. As long as you do your work and pay attention to the lectures, you will pass this class. He cares about his students very much, and is very hardworking. Solid dude!
Professor Roderick is hands down the BEST teacher I have ever had. He transformed my academic writing from a high school level to a true scholarly level. He is serious about his job as a teacher. To succeed in his class you must attend class, read everything he tell you to read, and PAY ATTENTION in his class cuz no high school teaches what he does
This professor did not do a very clear job explaining to us about what he expected us to do for the essays. He seemed more focus on talking about the personal lives of authors and theories about them as opposed to teaching writing skills. All in all he is ok but I think he could have done a much better job.
He is the most amazing professor Ive ever had. Very down to earth and breaks topics down when necessary. He actually cares that each student is retaining information and learning how to become better readers and writers. This class is tough but worth it. Be ready to read and devote some of your time to the library.
Highly enjoyed this course. I appreciate the variety of the novels Roderick picked. You write evaluations comparing the films and the novels, so pretty straightforward. Roderick is simply awesome and he gives great feedback. Can't imagine why any student would complain unless they didn't do the work they were supposed to do.
This class was challenging. I wish Prof Roderick would have changed his approach in regards to grading criteria. One thing I wish he would change is not writing notes to students when they make mistakes on papers so we know where to correct mistakes.
The best professor I have ever had, hands down! Roderick is so supportive and willing to help as long as you talk to him and ask questions. Definitely not a professor for lazy students. All the material we read proved valuable and he definitely inspired me to work harder in his class. Roderick does not fail at giving specific and great feedback.
He's kind of hard to understand. Real quiet. You have to wait until after class is finished and ask him specific questions for things to make sense. Email communications were real confusing.
Prof. Roderick is a man with a heart of gold. Other profs don't care about their students like him. He gives tons of handouts to help in your essays. The knowledge you need to succeed in his class is in those handouts so read them religiously and apply what he teaches. If I could take another class with him I would. Best professor at GCC, IMO.
Roderick might be intimidating at first, but man, I've never had a better prof at gcc. His classes are very challenging but you learn a lot. You can tell he cares deeply for his students. A class with him should be mandatory
He refused to allow computers in the classroom for note taking which I thought was strange because why waste paper? He also came off as interjecting too many political opinions during his lectures. I felt as if Rush Limbaugh was teaching me.
He is okay but his classes are boring he is a quiet guy but he does not initiate inspiration and make you want to come to class. He also has a strict attendance policy if you get into school late so you need to be careful because it will torpedo your final grade if you arent meticulous about your time management. .
A LOT of homework, reading, and quizzes. Hardest exams I've ever taken. However, if you are an English major and are looking to expand your expertise and become a better writer, I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgable and passionate about what he does. He pushes you to become better.
You must read novels and textbook to pass weekly quizzes. Offers extra credit when you dress up as a character from the book or movie. The papers are easy for he gives feedback on every paper and has clear instructions. He's really funny and he loves talking to students about their opinions and has pizza parties during class every few weeks. :)
I struggled with writing at a college level, but Roderick changed that. He is a tough grader, but in the way a teacher that cares should be. He offers plenty of office hours and tutoring time to help if you need it. Only take this class if you can handle constructive criticism, being held accountable, and want to improve as a writer.
I took this class based on the high reviews here of this professor and was not impressed. The class felt too pretentious to me. In my opinion I felt like Roderick came off like a snob and someone who takes himself too seriously. I felt swamped with homework and I am relieved this class is over.
Roderick is the best English professor a student who wants to learn can ask for. That is, if you want an easy A go somewhere else. He will grade your paper with a good old fashioned red pen, mark it up, and give you honest feedback. Lots of reading, about 7+ novels, but he genuinely wants you to become a better writer and person. Good prof overall.
Great person & excellent instructor but this class is difficult. You will earn your grade here. Interesting class but lots of quizzes, thesis statements & you have to be thoughtful & read a lot.
Professor Roderick is very passionate about what he teaches. There are no surprises in his class. He tells you exactly what he expects from you and he is accessible outside of class if needed. Participation is key. I didn't expect to enjoy his class as much as I did, pleasant surprise. He truly cares about helping you become a better writer.
He doesn't care if you have other obligations, classes, or life outside of his. Better have hours to read books and remember petty details for the quizzes! He tends to interject his personal beliefs and life problems, unconsciously taking it out on the class. He means well, but it would be nice to be treated like an adult and not like we're idiots.
He grades hard, but he gives assignments in advance so you have lots of time to work on it. There were three main papers for class, one book, and a handful of short stories, plus chapter readings in the textbook. Quizzes are over the short stories and book. Don't take this class if you aren't willing to put in effort. He wants to help so ask!
Pretty difficult class but a very good professor. He knows his stuff and will do his best to teach it to you, its your job to show up and complete the work. Don't take his classes if you are not ready to work.
Professor Roderick is a very interesting teacher. Coming from a bad ENG101 class, you will not know anything and it and if he skips over the basics, you will fail. Right now. The textbook is 2,300 pages and you will have 3 papers, which all require research and evidence from the stories. The papers take a while to complete and he grades VERY TOUGH.
Don't take this class if you aren't willing to put in effort for your grade. Roderick is specific about what you can do to improve your writing, and he expects you to use his advice in your papers. He is more than willing to help, but only if you tell him what you struggle with. He grades hard and seeks participation.
Do not pay attention to the low ratings! Professor Roderick is the sweetest, most caring professor you will ever have. You will leave his class an amazing writer and a better person. He will bend over backwards to help you succeed and he will inspire you beyond belief. You WILL work hard, but it is worth it. Take his class, you won't regret it!
Tough grading, even with an A or a B if you dont average a C on the three essays, he will fail you
While Professor Roderick was a great guy, he was a very hard professor to deal with. His feedback was very vague and most of the time repetitive. He takes his time to grade your essays and sends out multiple threatening emails, while never giving justification for the grade. He was very condescending and has unreasonably high expectations.
Professor Roderick is phenomenal. Yes, he is a stern-grading professor. He is not malicious, though. He truly pushes students to be the best they can be. Any harsh feedback you receive is because you either didn't listen or because he has seen better content from you. His class is worthwhile.
He doesnt give out too much work, but when he does give out assignments, he makes sure that your paper is perfect or else you won't receive anything higher than a B+. He gives good feedback, but he won't sugarcoat it either (which isn't a bad thing in my opinion).
I thought I was a decent writer before taking this class. Roderick really pushes you to do the work and improve. There are no free passes. If you love English or value your potential as a writer I highly recommend taking this class. The insight and criticism he offers will take you far! Dont let the workload discourage you!
Was one of the most difficult professors to work with. He is not very clear on what to do to make your writing better and I feel with a little more guidance I could have gotten a much better grade. GCC for some reason only lets him teach their 200 courses so I gotta retake it later at another college. Im never taking a class again with Roderick.
While I did feel myself grow during his class, it was incredibly difficult to turn around one bad grade in his class. There were only quizzes, essays, the midterm and final, plus 1 extra assignment. I felt extremely discouraged through 90% of the class
Great experience taking his class. 10/10 would take anything he would like to teach.
This guy is amazing! He grades hard, but takes his time to provide really meaningful feedback. I became a far better writer after his class. We read a few books and stories, analyzed them in class, then wrote papers. That's it. He guided the conversations in class really well too.
Professor Roderick is the best English professor at GCC. He is a harsh grader who pushes his students out of their comfort zone. Be prepared to spend a lot of time reading and studying for unit exams. While his course material can be complex, he will help you understand it as long as you communicate with him. I absolutely love this professor!
The first day he demanded that we do not wear masks, and that if we were so concerned with covid we could sit separate. He said he did not want us wearing masks, and in the same breath said that the gov. cannot make you wear one. He would not stop rambling about how covid and masks are stupid and others at GCC should not suggest us to wear them.
Tough grader but gives clear grading criteria
Tough grader, but not as malicious as some have made him out to be. He gives good feedback and has a very clear grading criteria. Overall, he's a great professor and I highly encourage you take at least one English class from him.
Very tough but fair. This class required a lot of work (8 books to read, another 8 film adaptations to watch, and a paper to write about each book and adaptation). But Prof Roderick was always willing to help and answered questions in a timely manner. Would recommend this class to any honors students who want to learn more about film and literature
Professor Roderick is a tough teacher that will surely make you a better writer at the end of the course. However, since his essays make up a majority of his course grade, you will have to really focus on getting them as perfect as possible. If you aren't majoring in language, I wouldn't take this course, as it will take up a majority of your time.
Professor Roderick is tough but the course is entirely rewarding. He cares about his students and he cares about improving our writing abilities. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.
Insane amount of reading assignments. Bombarded with so much homework. This is a class where you cram, cram, cram and leave without any new knowledge.
This is a reading and film class, so get ready to read and watch movies! Most of the books were enjoyable and the papers you have to write have a specific format that is easy to follow. As long as you use the writing techniques he teaches you should get a high grade in the class. Overall he was a great teacher and this was a fun class.
He probably going to come off a little strong at first. I personally think he does that to slim down his class sizes if I'm being honest. Tough grader but not unreasonable. Don't take him if you don't have a lot of free time outside of class. There's a lot of to write and read even for an English class.
I have a lot of respect for professor Roderick. He really cares about his students becoming better writers. For the quizzes, study the short stories you are assigned and take notes of specific details in the stories. As for the essays, if you follow professor Roderick's feedback carefully, you won't have any trouble. Definitely start essays early.
Professor Roderick is the most genuine and passionate professor I've had. He cares about teaching, not just getting you through the class. However, the grading is tough. If you want to improve your literacy, this is the perfect class. If you want to skip through 102 for the credit, steer clear. This class was one of my favorite classes I've taken.
his class is so difficult.
Passionate and dedicated to helping you become better.
Do the extra credit and read every page in that book he will ask random questions like, what color was the car in this book. Made me feel like I was going insane.
He will make you into a college level writer if you want to be one. He is one of the coolest guys on campus and really wants you to succeed. DO NOT USE AI WITH HIM.
Hes a good teacher but if you want an easy class dont take him. This class had a lot of reading and 4 major essays. Tough but fair, i wouldnt take him again ony because i want a lighter workload.
Great professor! Definitely have to put in the work but the content is super interesting and he's a great guy.
