Even if there is no other professor you can take this class with, wait until next quarter. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He doesn't know the meaning of "teach."

WORST TEACHER EVER. Midterm was 50 mulpite choice, w/20 questions about keyword&stuff,& 2program questions. The multiple choice are word by word from this online site. Final was just multiple choice. Didn't make clear on labs and hw. I did it anyways,lots ppl didn't cuz teacher never said. Was not aware no school next week & final week after that.

i've had him before. and if i didn't need to class, i wouldn't be in it...he seems nice, but he doesn't know how to teach...his "hands-on" activities are just him going thru different browsers...he doesn't know how to explain very well...

he didn't give clear instruction on how to do the assignment. when emailed him, he didn't reply, not helpful at all. don't take him if u have a choice.

I don't know what kind of pofessor he thinks he is by being so sarcastic all the time. I can never get a clear answer from him.

It was a crazy class...boring at times. He talks about other stuff regarding making money half the time. He hardly helps when you have questions. Grading isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. If you take him, make sure you only take one other class. Do not take 2 or 3 other classes with him.

still haveent receive my grade for the summer quarter. my classes for fall begins next week and i dont even have my grade 2 weeks after i took my final. there is no way to contact this teacher, he doesnt answer his emails. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

This Prof is full of $%&t and can't teach worth a lick, if you can deal with all his BS you will pass very easily. Always talks about non-related class subjects. ...class and just say your name and will get half credit. If you do decide to do it it's only 3 min long, half effort gets your full credit. Basically, if you can deal with the crap you will pass with a good grade.

He thinks he’s clever, he actually thinks he's making a statement. In fact he thinks he's teaching. Ironically this is a communications class and he is ambiguous at best. He's unclear and imprecise. He's an arrogant little man with many short comings. Don’t take him! This school is getting so pathetic they let anything teach.

This is Business Communication class, but comunication doesn't exist. He is unclear, always mix up everything, never respond to e-mails. You would never understand what he wants you to do and how it has to be done. He never returns assignments. You will pass this class, but it's a headache.

He is perhaps the worst professor I have ever had. I was completely confused in this class. He would not explain the assignments. None of the assignments were ever given back so I had no idea if I was doing well in the class or not. He is extremely sarcastic and you never when he is being serious or just playing around. I do not recommend him.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. All he talks about is himself! He teaches a communication class and communicates nothing but crap! i do not recommand him at all. you're making your life miserable if you take his class. 1 midterm, 1 final and 1 data monitor report. he never clarifies the assignments and no one knows what's going on in the class. attandance is not mandatory. tricky midterm & final. DO NOT TAKE HIM...

worst teacher i've ever had, literally. first day of class he said we did not need the textbook, then he tests us on the book. throw away your syllabus cuz he doesn't go by it. gives you a new assignment at the last minute and even asks you to do stuff after the quarter is already over. never clear, never helpful, USELESS

Seems to enjoy making things hard. Likes to brag about his accomplishments. His lecture consists of him flipping through a generic power point and going off on tangents about things that shouldn't even be mentioned in an INTRODUCTORY course in Java. Teaches the class as if you have prior experience. More people dropped than are left in the class!

Well, if you're thinking to take this class with him, expect to be stressed for the whole quarter. There are 2 midterms and 1 final. Those midterms include mc and hands-on part, which no one in the class could finish by the end of class time. Although he is helpful sometimes, he will confuse you most of the time. Very unorganized and lazy teacher.

WORST PROFESSOR he gives pointless hw that takes 20 hours a week to do. He does not want to grade any of the work he gives. He thinks very highly of himself even though he sucks. Everything on syllabus is wrong half the due dates on moodle are wrong. Horrible teacher should be fired. He purposely wants to make his students life hard and is lazy.

Most disorganized class ever. No clear schedule and all lectures are based off tutorials and 3rd-party powerpoints. Doesn't explain what ur suppose to do clearly/effectively. Moodle has all these downloadable docs and hw, but no instructions. Expects as students to be literate on terms, though no prereq 4 class. Knowledgeable prof / good prof.

AVOID HIM AT ALL COST. It is funny how this prof got his job. He is freaking bad. He always talks about how good he is in the industry, but he doesn't teach anything. Class is boring and uninterested. 99% of lectures are irrelevant, and he expects you to turn in class work in last 5 minutes of class. You are expected to do the same works his other classes are doing, but he expects you to know the instructions from his other classes. He ranks himself as one of the best professors on the campus. HE WILL RUI YOUR CAREERS.

One of the worst professors I have taken. I usually don't write anything against professor but he earned it. He is very disorganized and for the whole semester you will be confused on what to do in class. Test you on things that you do not know. Besides this, when you reach to him for help he is not always helpful, or amiable at all. My experience.

Phillip Thomas is by FAR! the WORST teacher I have ever come across. The first day of class he makes it seem like everything is going to be good, youre going to learn. EVERYTHING he says is practically jibberish. He doesnt teach whatsoever, you teach yourself. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

With no doubt, worst professor at CSULA. Doesn't teach anything. 80% of the tests is nothing you saw on class. When you have a question he answers you in a very arrogant way. You will be confused on what to do for the whole semester to pass. Very disorganized professor. If you are going to take him, please avoid him if you really want to learn.

Doesn't teach anything relevant to computers. Doesn't have a set syllabus. His grading guidelines are very unclear. His way of teaching is disorganized. By far the worst professor I have taken. I would rather take a difficult professor that I know what I have to do to get an A instead of taking this professor where I will be clueless all the time.

skip one assignment you will get a incomplete grade. i took him last year and he took two months to have my incomplete grade changed. there are in class assignments so do not bother showing you receive a incomplete grade.

Whatever you do, please don't take him for any course. He is very knowledgeable about the subjects but nowhere near as knowledgeable when it comes to teaching. There are some classes where he is the only professor; try to avoid those as another professor might teach it the next semester. Not too hard to get a good grade, but worthless as a class.

You have to constantly check when homework is due, with him its a guessing game. Seriously we are adults why don't you just have homework due before the start of the next class like the other 99% of professors. People have busy lives. The class was supposed to be about LANs but he brought it on himself to teach networking with java. I've had it .

He has a lot of applied knowledge and is incredibly smart BUT class structure is IMPROMPTU, very unorganized, gives assignments without criteria. Overall, if you do everything early, you might just pass! Also, if you want to learn about software and architecture, give it a shot for the following semester.

This professor seriously needs to stop teaching. I have never been so confused and stressed out before, he did not take the time AT ALL to plan and organize this class. ALL of his "lectures" are made up on the spot and you can just tell he took no time in preparing coursework. He sounds like a harsh grader and loves to give incompletes.

I couldn't find any tags that described the professor. Only "lots of homework". Go 2this guys class knowing you won't learn anything. Absolutely terrible class, I am a senior and he is the worst professor I ever had. He is very snarky when you try to talk to him after class, nothing is clear, everyone in the class never knew what was going on. I learned nothing.

He has knowledge and experience of working in the field but does not have any teaching skills to teach! Most of the negative reviews are accurate like making up lectures on the spot. Uses Perusall for reading & auto-grade. One-man project must be related to course material. Ask any questions in class only! He will be rude if asked outside of class!
