Professor Virgen (pronounced Veer-hen)is a wonderful teacher and is very interactive with the class. He makes reading and writing a story fun. Highly Recommended!!! A+A+A+A+
you must be kidding me. he was not helpful at all. I asked for his help, and he said I'm doing fine. I needed help and got nothing. the only thing he taught me was how to use the library to my advantage.
This teacher is really nice, and the class is really easy. During the semester you need to write only two essays: midterm and exit. Short readings, and easy homework. The class is really easy- belive me! If you wanna get streight A, take this class!!!!
I took this class because its premise was "Controversial Issues." Unfortunately, we didn't go over anything controversial and there was no discussion of any sort in the class. Although a very easy A, it's only worth taking if you want to practice MLA format or visit the library each class period. Nice guy, but not a great class.
Hes very easy but he doesnt talk to clear and sometimes his class gets kind of boring
Pro. Virgen is really nice and laid back. But the class was way too easy. I received an A and it wasnt a challenge at all. We never had class discussions on controversial issues-which the class was about and I was looking forward to. We also were dragged into doing MLA exercises every class!!
Easy goin, but not really helpful.

Very helpful teacher.Easy going and friendly.I am glad that I took English 102 with him.
very cool guy, extremely laid back and work is very easy, just get a bunch of your friends to take this class wih you cause he just lectures for the first 5 min of class and you're on your own. but everything is extremly easy, and if you finish early, you get to leave early, i have never been in his class the whole time! not even the 1st day! highl
I loved his class! Maybe sometimes he is not that clear to understand, but whenever you need his help, he is right there.
I heard from other students that English 102 was very difficult, too many papers to write. But not with this guys. Believe me, like they said, you want an A , he's the teacher to take. But if you want to learn and get your money's worth I wouldn't. Great guy and will teach you MLA style, that's for sure
you have to attend his class and work on your homework (which has to be returned on time),beside, he is a very nice and easy going guy. if u need help, he will be more than happy to help u!
I seriously went to this class 4 times the whole semester, didn't do any homework, and passed with a B !! Don't ask me how.. But he was awesome !!!
WOW. U LEAVE EARLY ALMOST EVERY DAY. HIS CLASS LASTS ABOUT 15 MIN. IN THE WHOLE SEMESTER WE ONLY STAYED MAYBE 5 TIMES FOR THE WHOLE 90 MIN. EASYYYYYYYYYY
This is the best professor
Easy A. I cannot emphasize that enough. You WANT to take this class. Believe me. You can just expand the midterm paper and make it your final paper. You leave early a lot during the semester and have "research days" where you go to the library. Take this class to boost your GPA.
A very helpful professor. Who made the class interesting and fun.
easy!!
The best professor ever! Easy class! No stress! Class is over after 15 minuts... There were maybe 3 classes we had to stay longer, bur not even for whole time! HE IS JUST AWSOME!!!
Great proffesor very easy and a delight to be in his class
Great Prof. Really take this class, if you need something easy that you don't need to spend much with. One paper for mid term and extend the same for final. During the semester only a few readings and quizes on them. he will teach you MLA format.
"you guys are to busy working for the man." lol i had him for english 102 on the 60's soo easy! we wrote 1 paper that whole semster which was the midterm paper that we fixed to become our final paper. He is very nice and its an easy A. While u see other eng 102 students stressed and freaking out, you will be chillin and relaxin if u take Virgen
Prof. Virgen is one of the sweetest most down to earth professors at Wright. Its easy to take advantage of his laidback demeanor and not show up for class or half ass the work. Truth is, you'll get lost if you don't show up and you'll have trouble coughing up the 10 pg paper.Otherwise I had tons of fun taking his 60's 102 class.I got an A!
Prof. Virgen (Veer-hen) is such a sweet guy. He's really nice and good natured and would rather keep the class interesting than tedious so he doesn't give too much work. If you show up, read the assignments and turn in your responses, you're good for an A. He's awesome.
It was easy for my attention to go elsewhere when I was in his class. If ur going to write a 10 page paper, you need to write on something that interests you. I guess I wasn't all into the 60's.
This guy is laid back and very chill.I had him and got an A! Very easy!Just show up, do the readings (short and easy 2 understand)take the quiz and you're good.I never spent the whole period in class because he ALWAYS let us leave once we finished our work.1 paper for mid-term and then an extended version for your final.Easy A, if you're in to A's!
Just the ten page paper to work on first draft and then a final draft. The quizzes are ok I guess sometimes open book or not. Got a D but maybe my paper sucked :).
Great man, bad teacher. I'm not sure if he had some sort of speech disability but I could NOT hear him (combination soft voice & tendency to mumble), and I sat in the front. The work is easy, but incredibly boring. Shakespeare had so much potential, & he killed it for me. All you do is read. I got nothing from him I couldn't get from the book.
TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN EASY A AND YOU DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT ENGLISH. OUR SUBJECT WAS ABOUT THE 60'S. I CAN PROBABLY COUNT THE TIMES WE STAYED THE WHOLE CLASS PERIOD AND IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS SHOWING A MOVIE. HE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT KNOWING HOW TO CITE PROPERLY. WE ONLY DID ONE 10-12 PAGE RESEARCH PAPER THE WHOLE SEMESTER. NO DEP FINAL!
He has the tendency to mumble and speak softly, but none the less he will give you a VERY EASY A. YOU WANT HIM AS YOUR TEACHER TRUST ME
Very calm, but a good teacher overall, you wont have any problems in his class
the grade you will receive will depend only on your final essay, which he is a little picky about. other than that you wont even have to show up that much. not recommended if your an english major. very easy, very boring, easy A. (final essay is 10 to 12 pages)
Nice teacher. Dont learn much besides MLA format not an interesting class that much so if you really want to learn dont take him. But if you want an easy A take him and just do your paper and the easy asignments he gives. Dont have to come to class always.
Mr.Virgen is one of the most down to earth teachers I've ever had. I had no idea how to cite properly before, but now I don't even need the book to cite properly. There's only 1 paper we had to do and the rest is doing a few worksheets and watching movies mostly about the 60's. Highly recommended.
This was the best class of the semester. I really learned how to cite properly. I'm so glad Prof. you were always there for me when I needed advice, and thank you again for taking us to the sixties.
I don't know what the poor man has against communicating with his students, but he was impossible to reach by email and if I asked him in person, he gave me a blank look and vague answer.
If you want to get an A take his class but if you want to learn more look for someone else. He's nice but really laid back guy.
he is very nice professor. you will get A maybe A+. I didn't showed up to class whatsoever: however, I got an A
Professor Virgen is the laziest teacher I have ever had. Yes, his class is very easy. But, as a student who actually wants to progress in life, I was expecting more from this class. He gives you one difficult assignment that is due by the end of the semester and that's about it. A few quizzes here and there, that's it. You don't learn much. Sorry.
Great proffesor. Just show up for class, and do the work that have been given, you will be okay, easy A maybe A+.
Just show up for class, and do the work that have been given, you will be okay, easy A maybe A+.
He is a poor teacher. He isn't very engaging with the students. He will give out homework but then make you redo it in class. For example make you reread the play you read at home out loud in class. He also seems to have no set curriculum its whatever he feels like doing. He isn't helpful won't except late work. Also he is very dry/boring.
Like others have said he's a nice guy. This is an easy-A class. The main focus is how to correctly write a paper. The main focus is on citing, quoting, and paraphrasing. Not very challenging. Show up, do the work, and you'll be fine.
Professor Virgen is terrible about grading, so you shouldn't expect anything handed back to you or anything graded online. For the most part you wont know what your grade is. Furthermore, he isn't a very engaging teacher and seems to usually not have much material. It is also hard to know what he expects of you and when there's even an assignment.
This is an easy A or B class. The plays are all online so there is no need for a textbook. Once you watched a play you spent 2 classes or more watching the movie for the play. We had to do a midterm paper but he cancelled it because he didn't like it! There were days when classes were just 15 minutes.
Good professor likes to discuss of the 1960's, overall good class, easy A!!
Wow! What a great class. I just loved every single minute. This guy is so nice and cool. He is always available to help but he also doesn't put up with any students misbehaving which is great.
Overall he's a good teacher, was focusing mainly on the 1960's
This professor is honestly THE WORST one I have taken a course with. To make things short with everyone let me explain. You take quizzes on readings you NEVER go over and it's basically being read for no purpose, papers are NEVER given back for feed back, and film questions that are pathetic whereas you have to keep doing work? The list goes on..
He's great. A very laid back teacher. He's straightforward when it comes to essays. I would definitely take him again.
this guy is amazing. easy class yet he makes you work for it. get on his good side and dont be late for class. books are needed but buy the used ones. easy guy to talk too every students dream teacher. finished class with an A
Prof. V, is so laid back, i'm currently taking his Baseball class. He is a easy grader he wants to make sure you are paraphrasing right and using quotations with your work cited. If you know how to do that then you will for sure get an A. He answers any questions you have, and also is willing to help. He talks very low by the way hard to hear.
This professor is very clear on what he expects of you and breaks everything down so you never feel swamped especially having to write your research paper. He doesnt post grades on blackboard though but if you do the work, youre more than fine.
Prof. Virgen is a good teacher. Honestly, if you show up and do the work youll pass. Its an easy class.
Mr. Virgen is a great proffesor and I would definitely recommend him. He is a very manageable man, if you speak with him, he will understand. Take him!
Chillest professor I've taken! Highly recommend his class. He gives you time in class to work on your assignments, and makes the class fun. 2 papers during the semester.
The worst professor i have taken a class with thus far in my time at Wright. He does not provide feedback on essays in the form of a percentage grade, let alone anything more insightful. I feel as though i could have learned / improved as a writer the same amount if i had wrote 3 essays and burnt them. Easy A but mind numbing and a waste of time.
He made the class very accessible for me despite the language barrier! He was a great professor to have and I will miss him as I continue my academic career. I hope to get the chance to take another one of his classes!
I took this Prof in Summer '19, he doesn't grade everything right away. We had a awesome field day identifying trees around campus for extra credit. Traded rough draft papers in class with classmates for feedback so there was some group activity. Final paper was 8 pages or less, extra credit presentation of paper or another topic of the 1960's.
I really enjoyed Professor Virgen's class. He is very compassionate and he worked hard to help every student succeed in his class. My only complaint would be that the grading criteria for some of the assignments was unclear, and many grades weren't returned until the end of the semester. That wasn't a big issue, though.
There aren't many good English prof. at wright. He is not one of them. It was interesting to learn about the '60s. You won't know your grade until the end. He doesn't respond to emails. Feels like an Eng 101 class didn't learn anything to be honest. He grades when he wants so there are still papers from the beginning ungraded and we're at the end.
Prof. Virgen is such a sweet nice guy! He tries his best to joke with us and get to know us but I feel bad cuz students are jerks to him. His class is about the 60s and there's tons of interesting topics. Homework seems random. You will also learn about MLA format. Only reason I didn't put easy A is because the 3 essays we had stressed me out.
One of the best Professor at Wright College. His lectures are not that difficult but you will read a variety of interesting subjects that relate too many issues we face in society. He is also hilarious and his classes filled with fun. Put in the work and you will get the A.
The book we need for this class can be accessed on Internet Archives so dont waste your money. Many of the assignments he gives us are easy so you wont stress. We only did 2 papers based on a topic from the 1960s. The final was that second paper which could be an extended version of the first paper or a new topic. Easy A if you do ALL the work.
Half of the class was in person and the other half was online but the professor did his very best to make the class feel like a family. It was a very easy A with extra credit offered as well. There won't be a dull moment with all the jokes he has ready to keep things exciting and relevant.
Professor Virgen is a real sweetheart and really loves to engage with his students. You will be reading many different novels and excerpts and submit responses to them. He's not a harsh grader; he even cancelled the final for my class which was a 10 paged paper!
Professor Virgen's 1960s themed English 102 was great! Professor Virgen gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and will help you if needed on your paper. Would take another one of his classes.
If you're taking his class online make sure you have a good pair of headphones or speakers, he is super hard to hear sometimes and it can get frustrating. He doesn't accept late work. Also makes a lot of sarcastic jokes. Overall an easy A but I wouldn't say I learned anything.
I hadn't written a research paper in a long time and am very grateful for Professor Virgen's class. He goes over all the details of writing a research paper, including citations. There was a lot of homework assigned but only some of it was graded. He's not the best with computers so expect some issues with Zoom and Brightspace. Very nice guy.
This class was overall great. There was quite a lot of homework, but it was not difficult, usually just reading and answering questions, and quizzes probably every other week or so. The class was interesting, a little slow passed in "lectures", but was very nice. My only complaint is that he always took quite a bit to grade assignments
Professor V is a great teacher! I took 2 of his classes, and would defiantly choose him again! He is really nice and caring, and his work is straightforward, practical and not overwhelming. Overall, He is a easygoing professor, and I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Prof. Virgen is an average professor. Sometimes he would not tell people head of time of what materials we need and etc. Is important to check on his Brightspace to see any new upcoming work in the Content page. He does extra credit in the end. He gave me feedback since I was done with my 2nd research paper early. He doesnt respond to emails often.
Absolutely no organization when I had him and he never grades the things he assigns.
Class topic: The 60s. He was a very nice professor, accommodating and likable. He is very good at talking to you about your issues and has an interesting background. My only critique is the organization of the online portal and no email response.
The '60s topic was fun to write about in class. We watched videos and movies, but it's important to stay on top of Bright Space assignments. The teacher is straightforward, but grading is tricky. I couldn't see any grades until the middle of the semester, so just keep an eye on that. There are 2 or 3 big essay quizzes from a book. take it!
Great guy, fun class. Highly Recommended! Read the material and you'll do fine. If you're nervous about taking English ii, take it with Prof. Virgen and you wont regret it! We wrote 2 essays, neither were hard. Quizzes on reading material. Lots of visual material as well (Movies, Art, Short Video Clips). Attend class and Participate in discussions!
He has been my favorite professor at Wilbur Wright. If you do your work and listen to what he has for the class you will do just fine. He is more than understanding and works with you if you are facing hardships aside from your student life. He's funny and charismatic. I highly recommend you choose him. Great person and great professor.
lot of reading but he was a super nice and fun guy
Don't get me wrong, Virgen is a great guy who tries to be funny at times. However, the curriculum is pointless. We watched videos for the majority of the semester with only one essay. If you want to learn something, don't take his class. If you want an easy A, however, go ahead. Virgen is also super disorganized, don't expect anything to be graded.
Professor Phillip is a super friendly professor, but teaching and work-wise, he isn't! he assigned reading and quizzes that had nothing to do with our essay, and speaking of essays, he assigned an essay out of nowhere during the semester, and one of my classmates didn't even know there was an essay! If you want Easy A, take Greg Nault at Malcolm X!
One of the best professors I've ever had, very funny and caring.
DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!
Prof Virgen is a nice guy, but his class was very disorganized. He didn't really follow the syllabus and focused more on the theme of the class (1960s) than on actually teaching English. The second-to-last week brought a lot of homework, while every other week had 1-2 small assignments. He only graded 1/3 of the assignments and gave no feedback...
