Professor Wolf has a quirky personality. His lectures aren't that clear, but they do provide an idea of the concept being discussed. His tests are really hard though, and they take forever to complete. He's disorganized about due dates. He also has a weird grading system that no professor follows.
His lectures are clear and concise, if you cannot understand it is a personal issue and maybe you need to take a remedial class. I find that his due dates allow for high flexibility and are very reasonable. He makes multiple analogies for the sake of pure understanding. I'd recommend his class.
He is a teacher who expect much from your previous physics class you had in high school or PHY 2AG. He expect students to know all the basics. 4 hours lecture a week, most time spent on example problems. Students must read study HARD by his or her own. Collect HW weekly and will NOT curve at all!
he will seem to be extremely hard in the beginning prob bcuz the prev phy prof did not prepare u well for his style.but as you get use to prof. wolf's teaching method it will get easier. he is an extremely hard grader and expects his students to learneverything he teaches.takeit if ur going into sci
Confusing due dates. He's VERY picky on test answers. He's okay with turning in late HW. Kinda funny. References tend to go on and on at times, but not always. He's okay, but I don't really recommend him unless you REALLY understand atoms, molecules, etc.
Do not, I repeat DO NOT take this teacher! He is extremely difficult and very unfair grader. I would spend at least 2 hours every day for a week studying for his tests and I got D's on every single one and didn't pass the class-and I'm a straight A student. He just plain sucks. Even smart people fail his class!
Horrible, and shave that damn beard.

Lecture is basically useless. Basically you have to study on your own. Somehow I did alright..
Unless your gonna become a physicist or some type of scientist dont take this class! Very difficult and makes the subject as hard as it can possibly get.
dont take this class!!!!you can find another teacher if you really need it.
He tests you on actual concepts, not how well you can memorize a bunch of formulas. If you love math but hate wisdom, you will fail his course. He seems to take a little more time than needed to get to the point in many of his lectures, but when he gets there, it's pretty easy to understand the concept he's trying to explain. If you pay attention.
He is a bad teacher with no respect to students. He skiped many useful concepts and pretended to be knowledgable.
He is a difficult teacher. I believe you could get another teacher and do real well in this course. I think that he makes this class far more difficult than it is worth. He is not very clear in his explanations and he is kind of rude when asked for help.
This course is very EZ if and only if the teacher is not Wolf. DON'T ask him questions cuase he'll say,"you might think to drop this class because this course is too difficult to you." I think the questions that I asked are too difficult to him. If you guys want to take this coruse, go Citrus and take Scott. He is very professional.
he is sooooo bad,
He is very disorganized, doesn't return homework and other course material promptly and doesn't keep them well so tends to lose your works. Tests on concepts which in itself is not a problem. However, not clear on his grading systems, i.e. not clear on how points are awarded other than him taking off points when doesn't meet his expectations.
Doesn't Help tudents at all...
Professor Wolf was not a very helpful teacher!! He grades very hard and if you don't write the way he wants you to then your going to get bad grades on your labs!! I would NOT recommend him!
Ugh! Dont love the class but it is okay. Sometimes he has funny remarks to keep your attention but its really boring. I almost fall asleep everytime. If you want to do good in his class read before the class and do the homework and remeber what you put because he is bad at returning hw back. Good Luck and change teacher while you can!
I find that professor wolf is very thorough and efficient. If you have questions he tries his best to help you understand the problem. This is a very challeging class but he tries to break it down in a way that you can understand. If you are a lazy student then this class is not for you....
IT IS TRUE THAT MR. WOLF DEMANDS MUCH FROM HIS STUDENTS, IT'S BECAUSE WE'RE IN COLLEGE. THIS ISN'T HIGHSCHOOL ANYMORE. ANYHOW, MR. WOLF IS A GREAT TEACHER, I ENJOYED HIS PHY SCI. 7 LAB CLASS VERY MUCH. I SUGGEST ONE OR ALL TO TAKE HIS CLASS. JUST EXPECT TO WORK HARD AND TO BECOME A BETTER WRITER.
Professor Wolf is an awesome teacher. He is very helpful in this course. Whenever you need extra help he is always available to give it. The course is not easy, you have to work for your grade but if you do there is no reason to do poorly. I highly recomend him as a professor, take his class you WILL enjoy him!
not a good teacher............class is point less since the test comes from the book. will not help you unless he likes you and your a girl. homework is easy but doesnt help on the test. if you want to spend money take his class because you will have to take it again.
If you enjoy spending money take him as your teacher. You will waste all your money on the teacher and end up dropping or failing the class. He doesn't help, he only cares about being funny and he complains to his students after failing everyone.
Professor Wolf is a wonderful person, and a great teacher. I took his Physical science 7 and lab classes, and he was helpful. Those of you who are complaining, what do you think your taking, arts and crafts? This is science people, you need to study hard. Mr. Wolf is just as big as the famous scientist David Willy, who appears on the Tonight Show.
It is hard to say if his teaching is good or not because he doesn't actually teach. He even assigns homework to students before teaching them. The most unbelievable thing is he is so confident about his teaching method.By the way, his teaching method is "Practise, practise, and practise, that's how you learn physics"
Here is how he solve problems:" here is the picture, we got this, we got that. that's it, question?" he can finish talking about one problem in 30sec, and makes you feel stupid to keep asking. He skips a lot of important concept you basicly have to study by reading the textbook. Tests are hard, a lot of homework, one report every week. Good luck.
Before taking this class, be absolutely prepared. You need to have a firm grip on everything you did in your high school physics class or in 2A. If you don't this professor will make you pay for it. From the very first day, you'll be hopelessly lost, and probably won't be able to catch up. Basically, it's like what everyone says: he doesn't teach.
I didn't like him the first several classes, he was really hard and the class was a pure frustration. But once you really start to work hard as you're expected to, you'll get what you deserve. He's very fare. I suffered through the semaster and walked out with an A, and my advice is: shut up and do your work, you'll be fine.
Let me first say that Prof. Wolf is very helpful. Whenever you have a question, he is willing to help you! Now for the class itself, it's pretty hard. The lectures are sometimes boring. The quizzes and tests are really hard so I advice you to study and take notes. There is a lab everyday which is sometimes hard to understand.
You don't need to use the textbook in class but for your grades sake, you should read the book. I think you learn more from the book than the prof. He doesn't really explain topics clearly and you end up confused and feeling stupid.
He loves partial credit for sure. This is only thing that can make me or students pass. Also, he thinks the lab is more important than lecture so u should be more ready to be self-study-person. Homeworks kinda hard because he uses the online things so make friend to help u
A good lecturer. Places a great deal of emphasis on lab work. Very responsive to students' needs. Somewhat disorganized. No extra credit. Exams are normalized to the highest scorer. Quizzes are unannounced and can never be made up. Homework problems are relevant and very good practice for exams. Can be derailed off-topic with a cunning question.
he also teaches Physics 2BG
super funny professor!!I enjoy his class a lot!
Super motivated professor but super hard. Tests are impossible. Grading is extremely hard (never full credit).
impatient, rushes through lessons, grades hard...should teach an intro to physics class
Entertaining teacher. You're supposed to learn by doing experiments in class, but sometimes the experiments don't work out, so you end up not knowing the answers. He's extremely helpful when you ask him after class though. His test questions come from the homework mostly, so make sure to study that. Physics is a hard class. So get ready to study.
This Professor will motivate you throughout the semester but it is hard to keep up with the course. The tests come straight from the homework so if you understand the homework you will do well on the exams. This class is all lab and no lecture. If you e-mail him about questions he will respond thoroughly. So if you make an effort, he will help.
Extremely easy class. Easy A!
great professor! most physics teachers here are either really tough, or don't know how to teach. not the case wit this prof. highly recommended!
Physics is a tough class. Professor Wolf does a great job explaining. Answers any questions you have, but not directly. He makes you think for the answer, which is good. Overall a nice guy and great professor.
worst professor. EVER!
I dont know how he is a professor. He is a smart man but he can't teach. Avoid him if you can.
I am currently enrolled in the class and even though I am passing, he is does not know how to teach. He is not a good professor. He is one of the worst professors i have had at Mt. Sac.
Take physics with another professor. A good professor is one that can make the ungifted, gifted. He is clueless and he really believes that his style of teaching is effective. The class started with 35 students and now there are 10. Not all 10 are passing. You do the math. RUN FROM THIS PROFESSOR!
Physics was hard for me, he is very helpful. He gives study guides and study sessions on his day off. Nice guy but hard class. He would get a little frustrated at times but I honestly dontt blame him. Even though i am going to fail, i failed bc i couldn't understand the material. Good luck.
He's a very smart guy but does not know how to teach at all. The class is very disorganized: there are no set dates for anything, even midterm dates were moved around constantly. He does try to help and have office hours but gets very frustrated if you cannot understand which doesn't help at all.
Very helpful.
He should consider retiring. Has NO patience and should update his teaching credentials. This man belongs behind a desk working alone. AVOID!
Believe and trust me when i tell you to avoid this HORRIBLE professor! you have been warned!
What a horrible professor. Does not have an ounce of teaching skill in his entire body. Not helpful when you ask questions, and he does not go over all class concepts, yet he expects you to know them. I have never had such a horrible professor in my life. He should stick to singing.
This is the worst physics professor at Mt.Sac ever! Teaching methods are boring and confusing. Tests are hard and no passion at all. Do not do not take this guy unless you want to fail.
Run as fast as you can. AVOID
Don't be discouraged by all the bad ratings on here because they're mostly due to one big factor: PHYSICS IS HARD! If you expect an easy physics class and it turns out to be hard maybe it's not the professor but the subject. The professor is helpful and clear but only if you take the initiative to ask questions if you don't get the material atfirst
not helpful, rude and careless. physics is hard but a good professor can help students understand the material. I took this class and failed. I took the class at a different school with a better professor and got an A. It all comes down to the professor.
Amazing professor. You can immediately tell he loves physics by listening to any of his lectures. I got a chance to talk to him quite a bit outside of class and he is always happy to help or just talk about nonsense with you. Study notes, homework, and labs you will be perfectly fine. He is the most fair professor I've taken, specially with exams.
By far the worst teacher at Mt. Sac his grading is so tough you cant even get a B on the homework! don't take this class unless you want a stressful semester.
Professor Wolf is extremely knowledgeable and helpful if you're willing to put in the work. The class is pretty demanding during winter term because it is extremely fast-paced, but it was enjoyable with a professor who's willing to help his students at any cost. Overall, he is full of personality and loves to see his students succeed.
He's very funny, quite quirky if you will. He will make sure that you understand the concept. Physics is not an easy subject. He uses funny stories to make sense of what hes trying to teach which is very helpful. Lots of questions on the test. Tough grader on homework. But over all a great teacher.
TBH, I don't understand why his rating is so low. He isn't the best, but he definitely isn't as bad as the reviews suggest. A bit quirky, but is willing to help and is always around and open to questions. He started a new way of teaching which was a little messy at start but actually ok once settled. Not as bad as the reviews make him out to be.
His new physics 4A class is flipped meaning a lot of the learning is done outside of class and the in class time is dedicated to labs and working problems. He's very helpful. My only complaint is that we don't get out exams back and that some of the wording on the exams is confusing. He knows his stuff and teaches a systematic approach to problems.
There's tough graders and then there's this dude I passed Physics 2A with a strong A, but this guy was on another level. If you're ready for an insane transition in difficulty, a lab report due every class day, homework, and lecture videos you have to watch at home, knock yourself out.
Very hard class. Lots of papers, he wants you to really think deeply about each subject, no test or quizzes, make sure you follow what he wants for the presentations. Very nice and caring teacher, you can email him or ask him questions. I would recommend taking notes when students present, it will help you on the final paper.
Worst professor you can ever have! DO NOT TAKE HIM unless you want to waste your time and fail. He does not teach and he is very unclear.
He doesn't deserve all the hate that everyone suggests. Hes actually very approachable funny. His "flipped" style of teaching isn't bad, but sometimes lectures aren't clear and homework questions required in our notebooks will take a lot of time. Lab reports are a chore to do and quizzes/tests are difficult. got my first "W" from this class :(
This is Prof. Wolf's first time teaching Chem 40. He's awesome! He explains things in unique ways that stick so you can remember. His tests require a lot of explanation- not much multiple choice/equations. You get easy points from class assignments, and not a lot of hw! I def recommend!
His flipped course betrays what a professor is supposed to offer: nuance to what we're doing. We watchto 2 lecture vids on a weekday (w/ 5 questions total) due next class ON TOP of lab reports, online HW, 2 the point where all we can do is rush through the work just to turn it in, because we have other classes. In class, its just mostly lab work.
CONS This professor is very tough when it comes to grading. The tests he gives are exceptionally harder than the material covered in the homework, reading, and labs. He assigns a great amount of lab reports and grades them harder than the average STEM professor. PROS He is a very nice person. He is easy to talk to. Office hours are accessible
Flipped class homework in class, lecture at home. This doesn't happen and you will have lecture, homework, and lab right-ups, at home. Tests are MUCH harder than material covered in class or in homework. If you are good at teaching yourself, this class is for you. Nothing better than seeing a problem for the first time on exam day. 22 labs. "Yay"
After taking his course of Physics 4A, I have come towards a conclusion that this teacher can not teach! He gives tremendous amounts of work, his quizzes are 2x harder than the online homework. His exams are 3x harder, and he grades very strictly. Do not take this professor unless you have a lot of time on your hands and can self teach. Just run.
Good man overall. Tough Grader, Tests are harder than they need to be. Very low chance of finding a problem you've done before on the test, so he really tests your conceptual thinking on how you would approach the problem. You need to work hard to pass with a B.
if you register for wolf's class he will tell you what you need. Videos ? watch them, ALL OF THEM!!! Mastering physics? DO IT ALL. Not just once , TWICE, or even 3 times if you need to. Lab blogs? hell yeah. Around 1/5 of you grade. Do it on time, your good. Do it early, congrats you get more credit. ( just for turning in early). Email him 4Q !!!!!
every day there is a quiz, but Don't fear, as long as you watch the videos he assigned you are okidoki. Text book isn't required but effort is rewarded ( get a text book for mastering physics, helps a lot ). Every test he gives away points on tests. if you need to contact him email is the way to go. he will respond to you email in less than 2 hours
If you are a physics or engineering student and understanding physics is important to your future, then you should take Wolf. The foundation you will get out of this class is integral to your success in higher physics courses. Not an easy professor, but absolutely worth it. DO THE LABS!! There are harder courses than this one in your future.
No work plan.
Professor Wolf is great. His enthusiasm towards the topic makes class time time fly. This was his first time teaching physics 2A in probably a decade so he is still working on his pace in the class but the expectations are fair. TESTS are very doable. As long as you do the ExpertTA homework, Labs, and practice problems when assigned, youre good
Hes very enthusiastic and trys to make leaning easy but its not an easy subject to teach. Hell go over homework in class at the beginning and will give extensions on assignments (not excessively maybe once or twice). Tests are hard but they are mostly made up of modified homework questions. Overall its a hard class but this professor trys his best
Dont take this professor if its your first time taking the class. He moves very fast paced in his class/rushes material. He grades really tough on hw, he looks at every answer & gives you half points if its not what hes looking for. He NEVER gives study guides. He took off 10% of our grade that was free points last min & it was in the syllabus.
Everything you do in his class feels like a test including and he pushes to make you critically think about everything. His tests are very hard, somewhat similar to the labs and hw but never the same. I only managed to pass this class with a B because of my friends helping me....
Do not take this professor if its your first time with physics. Does not know how to teach and changes up his syllabus last minute. Wouldnt recommend at all!!
4A is a difficult class overall, but this class especially since students are expected to learn material through videos and come to class for labs and classwork. He makes learning fun and interesting. Review all material to do well on his exams. He cares more about understanding concepts than solving problems.
Physics with anyone is difficult and having to go through it during this virus crisis makes it so much worse. But I can honestly say that this professor does care about his students and he does his best to help when we need it the most. It's a hard class because it's unfamiliar and an into class, but at least he's one of the profs who tries! Thanks
He is a great guy, he loves physics and teaching it. He takes time to introduce new concepts conceptually to help you visualize what is going on, then he will show you how they get to the math. He wants to leave his class having learned and prepared for the next physics class. If you ever had a little interest in physics he will make you love it.
Greetings! Physics is no walk in the park, or at least for me, especially during a pandemic. Professor Wolf is passionate about physics, he puts in time and effort for his students because he wants to see them succeed. I recommend taking him, the excitement he exhibits when you get something right will put him in a state of Happy Dance Cheers
One of the best Professors & is super funny! He knows his stuff and LOVES teaching the subject to his students. Don't be afraid to ask questions, go to his office hours, & do the homework bc it preps you for the exams. I took this class during Covid, he does record his (enjoyable) lectures and exams are monitored. highly recommend!
Professor Wolf's Physics 4A class prepared me well for statics and Dynamics. Every assignment that we do in this class forces you to critically think. I did not understand the importance of this class why he made it so hard until I transferred out and took dynamics. If you are struggling, office hours are a must!
Overall, he is a really good guy and teacher. But there must be a reason that 3/4 students drop out from introductory physics class right? At least for me, I cant see the possibility of getting an A in his 4B.
I do not recommend this professor because his process is not reliable. He gives assignments to student and grades them with his emotions. He does not show the result and 3/4 classes still does not know what they do right or wrong and cannot be better on exam. I have to say heavy exam with a lot of stuffs to do in 1.5 hours. Not recommend him at all
This dude is trolling for sure. He was saying his class should be as tough as UCLA/UCB physic series. LMAO. With this only B, I still transfer to UCB. I have to say Wolfs class just gives you so many useless stuff and hw. UCB class is not even that hard for the engineering physic series. that is why I come back even I left mtsac a year ago.
Online classes made things harder to learn, especially physics. Things will be very disorganized, If you want to do well in this class you need to pay a lot of attention during the class and review the subject and assignments. Professor Wolf is dedicated to making things alright, and he has a great personality as well.
I can tell that he is a nice person, but his class is so damn hard. I feel like his lecture doesn't quite match the difficulty of his tests. I transferred to UCSD last year, and OMG the physics class at UCSD was a lot easier than this. What's the point of giving us such a hard time here at a community college?!!
He gives students too much homework and too many lab assignments. He never considered if students have enough time to spend on his take-home videos and his assignment. He forces the student to learn in his way. Exams are much more difficult than homework. Don't take him.
avoid at all costs
Prof. Wolf is very enthused about teaching and it shows during his classes. The majority of the high difficulty ratings seem to come from the subject matter itself. Tough grading is just a sign of caring about the students learning over handing out points like candy at Halloween. He did get behind schedule due to spending extra time on subjects.
Wolf is a very underrated prof. Although his class has a lot of work, it prepares you very well for 4B/transfer. His approaches to solving physics problems are very clear and effective. In addition, he is lenient with grading/deadlines. Note that he runs a flipped-class, meaning that you will have to do some self-studying.
He a conceptual prof, so expect exams to be much harder and oriented around concepts instead of computation. His video assignments are always harder than the examples he gives with frequent curveballs. If you want to be an engineer then its a great class, but if you're majoring in something else take a different prof or prepare for suffering.
Terrible control freak! I'm now an engineer & graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with honors. I'm also going to grad school at USC. Do not let this man discourage you. He made my journey longer & I ended up withdrawing. Just wait until you transfer to take physics. He is unreasonably hard. When half your class drops out it means you're a bad professor.
