Great teacher! Don't take this course unless you're very social and prepared to devote alot of time. She requires alot of out-of-the-class time, group projects, and 3 writing papers.

Philly is a great teacher, she's fun but she won't let you run her over. Be ready to engage in a lot of activity and do some work in her class. She's concerned about her students and down to help you out if she can. She's the best teacher I've had.

The class is pretty easy if you do the work. I missed my share of work and managed to just squeak by with an A-, and I love her for that. Don't expect a teacher you can take advantage of or talk your way into a higher grade, she's no pushover!

Philly's the best teacher I've had. Her class is easy and fun. She's very laid back but she gets on your case if you don't do your work. It's a great class. You meet a lot of people and gets to know them, and you even get to know yourself.

She's a very upbeat energetic nice lady. She is relistic and balanced/fair. Good class good teacher.

Philly's assignments may actually require students to use their brains but she is in no way biased toward one particular major or ****s against blacks. Hahahaha!!! Future students need to know the facts and not lie. Philly is great, enthusiastic, and one of the best professors here.

Philly is an awesome teacher. She is always ready to help out. This class is based mostly on your 2 events, the midterms and final are very minimal. Make sure you choose a good group, but even if you don't, Philly will be there to help you. She is very good at explaining requirements and makes herself constantly available.

Philly is great. She makes sure she only lectures on the things you will need to know. Class is always fun and she goes out of her way to help if you just ask her. You get notes for the tests and you write your own evaluations for group projects. Philly is the best.

Awesome professor. You play a lot of fun games to get to know everyone in the class. As long as you are willing to talk to other people the class will be easy. Have to do 10 hours of volunteer work outside of class, but it is easy once you find a place to do it.

If you do all your work I think you will be fine. You play games everyday and this class MAKES you know everyone in the class personally. No REDOs on work if you forget homework.

In a college setting, Philly is the type of teacher you WANT. She isn't biased nor is she ****. Be prepared to work hard for a grade you want..no easy way out there. SHE'S AWESOME!!! People that complain about her obviously are used to their high school teachers that made everything easy and doable for them...Philly doesn't do that.

Good teacher, she's really funny, extremely chatty and smart. she tells you exactly what you need to know for tests and what she expects on papers. There are games and you really get to know the people in class. The only downside of this class: homework was due at almost every class period, but that's ok because I almost always came to class :). i

I enjoyed the class. It seemed like a lot of work at times, but it was pretty easy. The games at the beginning of the semester were really fun and I met a lot of people.

I loved this class! Fun and straight-forward. Lets you use a 4x6 card on exams. Short lectures, you play games during class, and most of the homework assignments are fun projects. One of the few classes I looked forward to going to!

Really easy and fun class. You get to meet lots of people and play lots of game. All tests are based off the information given on her PowerPoint presentation so just remember to take notes in class (bring a laptop, she goes through them fast). I never read the textbook we had to buy and the major assignments are easy. Take this class if you can!

the class is an easy A. You dont realy have to study because she'll let you use a notecard for the test. The homework assignments are also easy, all you have to do is do them. Also you'll learn alot about leisure. The class ended up being the easiest one i've taken in college.

I took her class in Spring 2009. She is one of the most caring professors you will ever encounter at SJSU. Not an easy A but work hard and you will be fine. I took this teacher for creating a meaningful life. this class is a complete waste of time and she is a hard grader.

Amazing teacher. She's really caring and passionate about what the course is about. Just try and do your work and you'll do well. There aren't any surprises really when it comes to exams or homework. She's really funny and laid back. Try not to be late; she hates that.

this class would be good if we were in kindergarden. i hated this class with a passion and dreaded going everyday. it was a waste of time. she is not very understanding and wont ever let you make up work. shes also a very hard grader. dont think you can just slide through the class. i would not recommend taking her.

This is the best teacher you can take at this school. I took her for a muse course and passed with ease. Every class is fun because she likes to make games out of the activities we learn. If you hesitate to take her class its the worst mistake of your "LIFE"!!!!!

This really was a great class. Philly was a fantastic teacher. Prior to taking this class, I expected something completely different. She strayed away from the traditional lecture/note-taking teaching style and went with a more fun approach. I learned a lot and had fun in the process. we played alot of games. Amazing professor. You won't regret taking this course at all! I thought this class was a joke when i first heard about it, but this class really helps define who you are and helps you decide where your life should go. Philly is awesome; one of the best professors you'll ever meet!

i would say her class is fairly easy if you are willing to put the work out. There are 3 exam and 3 projects, 2 of them are group projects. pick your group wisely. Attendance is mandatory so you must come in order to get credit. She is really strike when it comes to hw bc she doesn't allow you to turn it late or redo it if there was a mistake.

Great professor and helpful. You get a 4x6 index card of notes for your midterms. You don't need the textbook, she provides power points, do print out before study session before tests, 2 group projects (leisure buddy and final showcase)."Tuesdays with Morrie" was a great book to read.

Learned a lot of event planning. Midterm was hard. Planned a whole event with a group. Would take this professor again.

Class is probably the easiest on campus. Still can't believe I got out of it with a B+. Philly is really nice, easy to talk to and clear on everything. Just make sure you have a good partner (that actually cooperates) on projects and you'll be in good shape. This class will make your semester fun.

The class is hands on and you learn a lot from actually doing an event rather than listening to a lecture about it. Exams are on reading from the text and lectures so you need to be prepared for that. Midterms are difficult and require studying. Philly is a cool person and honest. She seeks the best in all of the students and is always available to help via email or during class in person. The class is one of my favorites so far and i definitely see her as a resource I can count on

Philly is an excellent teacher. She comes off as being strict and rude at the beginning, but really she just doesn't put up with any BS (as we are university students, not middle school). If you pay attention to what she is asking for, you will do well. All directions, assignments and criteria given to students. Highly recommend this professor.

Philly Cheesesteak!!! Her class was really fun and I really enjoyed it. Just make sure you make your cheat sheet for the midterms and the final. Her extra credit on the tests are fun/frustrating to do because they're all riddles! Really good class where you can really talk to your classmates, unlike other classes where you just sit and listen

I enjoyed this class, there was never a dull moment. Philly is clear about what she expects. However,nothing was ever good enough for her. It feels as if doesn't want her students to get a good grade. I spent the entire semester stressing out. I dedicated hours in planning one of the bigger events and still didn't get an A. Wouldn't recommend her.

Her class was always alive and most people participated. She had us do recreational activities with people in our class. We read Tuesdays with Morrie which was a great book. This class showed me the fun of doing things that are kind of out of my element.

I enjoyed this class. There was a lot of homework, though and she doesn't accept anything late. I liked how we had speakers come in to class to talk about their jobs. It gave me an idea of what I could do and what was expected.

This class is by the far the funnest class I have ever taken. All we ever do is play games and her lectures aren't boring or long. She is really good at keeping the class engaged and I would definitely retake this class again. The tests are super easy, but attendance is mandatory because you get graded on participation. Just show up to class.

Philly Cheesesteak! She is an amazing teacher. Toney is hilarious which makes her lectures interesting. Just make sure that you attend class because there is participation points for the games that we play. Test are so easy, there is no way that you cant pass. She is very precise on what she wants. I would definitely retake this class if I could!

Very great professor! She's super lenient. Come to class, participation matters. You do a whole lot of outside activities, BEST CLASS HANDS DOWN. I would say the class is pretty easy, 2 exams buts it open booknotes THATS PERFECT! the exams have difficult questions so you should READ even though its open book. SHE'S VERY CHILL goodluck

Philly is a great professor! Her class is super fun and interactive. If you have her for Recl10 then you're going to be playing games and just basically having fun. She makes sure that there is enough games in between lectures so everyone is attentive. Tests are open notes and she lets you use any kind of technology during the test. Fun class!

This professor has taught me so many important things in life and her lectures are very helpful. We don't do much work, we play games to relieve stress. Come to class everyday and participate and you will get good grades.

One of the funniest classes ive taken my four years on this campus. I still talk to the majority of people in my class. She makes learning very easy and she is very upbeat. Her tests are easy as long as you study the study guide! Read the book she assigns. She has weekly activities which are super fun!

Overall, a good prof. She is caring and kind and willing to help. But she's firm, so don't get on her bad side. HATES lateness so avoid it if you can. Class is super easy and all you have to do is put some effort in and you'll pass no doubt. Be sure to show up to every class though because she grades you on activities you are part of. This class is a lot of work. It is by no means an easy A, but it's possible. I picked my group well and we worked for hours on our event. It was stressful but we got an A. Toney also has guest speakers who work in events, which is great because it shows the different jobs possible and some take interns.

Philly is my favorite professor! She does not like the sound of her own voice like so many other professors do. She is fun, enthusiastic, and likes to teach through activities. If you like sitting in class, taking notes, and listening to boring teachers... then she is NOT for you! She is a MUST!

Things have changed pretty drastically bc of the pandemic, but she made sure to communicate with her students and explain assignments thoroughly. She's a very caring, wonderful professor. If you participate and put effort in your assignments, you will get a good grade.

Pretty fun, easy, and straightforward class that involves a lot of interactive activities so don't take it if you hate talking to new people. Answer questions specifically and put effort into weekly assignments and you'll get a good grade. Toney is super understanding and cares about her students but she doesn't tolerate late work.

I would recommend this class to anyone. It's an extremely easy A as well. Classes online have literally just been playing 1 or 2 group games each class. Homework is given but is easy. Philly is the first professor at SJSU that has made me feel like she cares for me and loves her students. Trust me, take her class, you won't regret it!

I LOVE HER. This class had more writing than I expected but it's still an easy A. She's very nice, chill, & easy to talk to. Online zoom meetings consist of leisure activities like games and such. Meetings are optional though because she provides alternate activities if you don't attend class. Doesn't allow late work. She passed the vibe check :-)!

Likes the fact how she leaves feedback via typed comment, video or audio will tell students if something comes up when she's grading, so students can know when to expect their assignments to be graded responds to email in a timely fashion class is combination of work and play, as long as you read the textbook and do the assignments, you'll be fine

Professor Toney has been one of my favorite professors so far. She is really caring and understanding. The class consists 10 leisure exploration assignments (you have options), 3 major assignments (group scavenger, reflective essay, final exam), timed quizzes and a couple discussion boards and other assignments.

Take her!!! She is amazing! Her discussions are quite easy, but be prepared to read some articles for quizzes! She gives great feedback and genuinely cares about her students. If you need any assistance on an assignment, she is so welcoming and loves to chat! She's more relatable than most professors and has a good sense of humor.

One of my favorite professors at SJSU! Taking RECL10 was super refreshing and eye opening as well. All of the assigned work actually has a purpose. She's very easy to talk to and genuinely teaches some important life lessons. Please take this class, I can't praise her enough!

Professor Toney is one of the most down to earth people. She is completely understanding of any problems you are facing outside of class and very accommodative. The class is a 2 in difficulty but the fun makes up for it. Do be prepared to talk to people and get out of your comfort zone. Especially at first ;) Your attendance must be at 100

Professor Toney is nice, but annoying. She treated our class like a middle school class and participation every class. She had a lot of assignments and projects. She would talk to you and then not remember your name, and who you were. She was ok, and this was an easy A if you go to class. I felt like she tried to trick people a lot.

Loved Toney's lectures. There are a handful of projects that are creative and not hard. Her class is fun and involves getting to know your classmates. It is a social class that does a lot of activities. Exams are easy if you follow the study guide. You will leave the class knowing more about how to spend your time/what you want to accomplish.
