I had her for two classes
She's hot, a real looker for a math geek

So Sexy its hard to keep #'s straight
Good Math, Bad Class
very good at explaining everything. I would recommend her to anyone.

I've had better... And for the record, not hot!
I understand a lot b/c of previous high school classes, but she doesn't provide information in a clear way. She knows her math, but she takes so long on certain subjects - she overexplains to make the info unclear.
A great teacher who is really helpful when you don't understand a concept.
very confusing
Certifying is a requirement, and it sucks. Never did the homework, but still could follow along. Good teacher, went through things if you needed help.
Horrible at explaining every concept. Do not take her unless you have a strong math background.
Horrible class!!! Hard, hard, hard. Tons of homework because you have to take these quiz like thing's on the computer almost every night. If you don't know the correct answer you start all over again in the programs and a NEW set of questions appears. Very time consuming!!! Don't take her!!!!!!!!
She's an alright teacher, but she explains everything in a round about way without getting to the point. I had Calculus in high school so I found the class easy, but don't take her unless you have had some previous experience.
She cannot explain concepts well at all. Do not take her unless you've had this class previously. She takes forever on one thing and never seems to get to the point. Not a very good math teacher.
MRS. Lutz is the mang!!!!!

To put it nicely she isnt a good teacher, at least as far as I am concerned. She yelled at me for asking a question. She isnt clear and I dont pick up anything in that class. I sit there for 2 hours boggled and when i get out of class i have my buddy explain what she was teaching in 5 min. The only reason i have a good grade is because of my friend
Just do't talk to her when she is in a bad mood, which is always.
she either talks down to you or over your head. not very profeessional as she brings her problems to class. when she is in a good mood she is fine.
Probably one of the easier math teachers at Delta. She doesn't care if you understand the material, but that really isn't a big deal, the material lends itself to being understood. Her explinations suck, but I don't really think that matters too much, as the book does a fine job of explaining the material. I didn't have any problems with her.
She was not very clear in making the material very understanding. Shel also looks down on you if you ask a question. She did not try to motivate us at all!
she did a pretty good job of explaining things, her moods didn't get to me...
I had her for precalculus, and we never ran into the "talking down" problem in the class. As long as you were actually putting forth the effort on your part. Though her explanations DID leave much to be desired. I also liked the way she did homework, with worksheets instead of masses of bookwork.
Don't take this class if you aren't ready for it. That's half of the posters problems on here. They take it thinking it's going to be easy, when in fact, they barely passed 097. Professor is clear if you have the least comprehension of Math and always had time for my questions in and out of class. Online class is difficult, not for the lazy person.
Had online math course with Lutz and had to teach myself all the material, she didn't do anything except make and grade the tests. I would never take her again.
Very good teacher. She is always willing to help and she gives good homework sheets that prepare you for tests. She is a very fun person to talk to and she has some pretty funny stories to tell. She even brings candy into the class on occasion. Her tests aren't bad, but you need to study for them. She is here to benefit you. A great class!

Very good explainations. Has a great way of teaching. You have to work for you grade. This is not a goof off class. You have to do the homework and if there are any problems, she is always willing to help. She likes to do in class activities that help because she will go around the class and see if everything is alright with your paper.
Study for this class. Teacher is clear about homework. Do the problems, they will help you. Also make sure that you attend class.
She was an average teacher. The math class is pretty basic, and I felt like it was easy. There really isn't anything great about her, but I would recommend her if you don't understand math all that well.
I took her online 097 class. I liked the program she used. Very straight-forward and to the point.
Really helpful explanations, and helped everyone to learn. She had very few drops in a fast-paced class.

She was fair on extensions but her clarity on the topics was very unclear. Her communication skills were lacking. since all the homework was done online there was really no time in class to ask questions about the topic itself as the online program was very flawed. I found this class impossible to pass. Never used the book!
She taught me nothing. I had to teach myself and use the TLC every other night to actually learn anything. I struggled in her class and I love math. I have never had a problem in any previous math course. Pick a different teacher, or be prepared to waste a semester in the TLC.
Really easy compared to MSU. Decent Teacher
First time I have ever dropped a class. I couldn't take her longer than 2 weeks. LOTS of online homework, which is very time consuming.
She gives a list of practice questions from book(not to be turned in),her home work is manageable (usually 4-7 questions). Four tests including final, grades fairly, great personality and very accommodating. She is a stunner for a Math prof too!I'm definitely taking her for my final lap.
Great teacher to me, let me join a class late, always quickly responded to emails and was willing to stay after and help me with questions or concepts I didnt understand. Would recommend her to anyone
This was an online spring calc course. Ms. Lutz provided ample resources for us in order aid us in understanding. There were power points along with homework from the text. The text also provided a lot of step-by-step instructions to solving problems. Though a very difficult course, I found the way it was presented the best online way ever.
We didn't use the textbook much, she mostly handed out problems and we would work through them in class. Which is great if that helps you learn. MyMathLab homework can be time consuming, so make sure you work on it all throughout the week. She only did Tests and Homework though, so Tests are worth alot of points, overall good teacher.
Phoebe was a very helpful teacher, she gives good notes. Just pay attention to lectures and take good notes and you'll pass. Reviews are exactly like the tests, so it's easy to study. Great teacher overall!
Pheobe was an awesome teacher, she's very nice and helpful. Tests were easy, they were just like the review she hands out that you work on. Very easy class if you put the work in. Homework is online, don't need the textbook!
Phoebe was a good professor. She fully explains every thing and actually shows you shortcuts. She is understanding when it comes to absences. I would take her class again.
Exactly the type of math teacher I love to have. I struggled a little in her class because I didn't realize until it started that I hadn't taken a math class in 7 years. Straight forward and walks you through how to do everything. Pretty easy class.
I had Lutz for Trig class. I had taken trig before, suppose to be a refresher. She seemed lost when teaching, stared at the ceiling a lot, and she didn't know how to solve the problems in her homework in MyMathLab. I personally can't learn with that program. Lectures were hard to follow since she didnt know the material. Never again.
Very unclear with her lectures. She gives practice tests that have problems that wont be on the test
Not much to say. Phoebe was solid. She knew the stuff and explained it well. If you pay attention you should pass. She was very nice.
Phoebe really cared about her student passing. She doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions and she welcomes questions and for students to come to her office for help. She teaches the subject matter well and gives examples in the notes. Definitely one of the better math professors at Delta.
Cares that you learn the material. Teaches what is on the tests. In class homework isn't graded but collected so she can show you how to properly do the problem. Mymathlab homework reflected what was taught in class.
Phoebe did a great job at explaining the material. Provides a lot of worksheets in order to give her students extra practice. Says the textbook is required, but I don't think it's necessary. Her study guides are 100% easier than the actual test so I felt I was never fully prepared for her exams and didn't do well on them as a result.
Great Professor! She wanted you to succeed in her class! Very passionate about teaching!!!
She get off topic easily. Does not follow the schedule. Gives homework that has nothing to do with what we learned in class. Gives lots of worksheets that have very little to do with the tests. Nothing is straight forward. If you struggle with math DO NOT take her! She expects you to do a lot of the work independently.
Be prepared to learn up to four lessons in a day, while having hours of online homework that does not correlate to the classroom lessons. Was mandatory to buy a textbook, when we yet to use it. In my opinion, you might as well take the class online if possible, because all of your graded homework is online.
To much online work
Lets start simple: a mandatory $245 textbook we never use, classwork that doesnt correlate to homework, and an inefficient and complicated online learning program. Lutz will spend an entire class session teaching you one type of problem, and then assign an entire chapter of homework (due a week from the day given). Intermediate math.
Never used the textbook once! If math is not your strong subject than I do not recommend taking it with Mrs. Lutz. Learn maybe one section per class which is no help with any of the test or quizzes. All quizzes are online and test are given in testing center. it basically feels like a online class. Shes very nice but wouldnt take her class again.
She is super sweet and an awesome person. Just gives way to much online hw. Would never take her again
The mass of homework to be done online counts for nothing other than being able to unlock the quiz at the end. Quizzes/tests are the only things graded. The class average for every quiz is always between 50%-70% (I went & looked on elearning to see if I was the only one strugglingclearly Im not) save your money/time & find a better professor.
ALL OF THE CLASS IS ONLINE. It takes me on average about 7 hours to take a 5 point quiz. The exams are not even in the class they are in the testing center. The only thing that is graded is the tests and quizzes when we do about 30 worksheets in the class that should be counted for credit. However; she is understanding SOMETIMES. Goodluck.
Her instruction is poor and disorganized. She uses my math lab to grade homework which is a huge pet peeve of mine. She uses it with the excuse "I have almost 100 students so I need it to grade homework for me" but there are other instructors who have just as many students and refrain from using my math lab. Her lectures are weak.
Ms. Lutz was very professional and was a great teacher. Taking this class 16 years after High School and having a career that takes up more time than what I have, Ms. Lutz was very understanding and accommodating. If you do the homework and understand the work, you will do fine. I had to work extra hard with my High School time gap!
You don't need to talk or participate. Do not spend $250 on a textbook that you're gonna open once and only for the online code. Every graded assignment is online besides the tests. The online is graded in a specific format so godforbid you forget a comma. Class time is pointless, just do worksheets that "help" you on homework.
Phoebe was amazing! She is sweet and really does a great job of walking you through the steps. I hadn't taken a math class in years and taking hers to get back into it was a good decision. I despised the site used for homework as it is very picky and it takes forever but the homework really does help you. I would definitely take her again.
Dont listen to any bad reviews , she is a great professor and if you are ever struggling she is quick to respond and help. I would recommend her to other students . 10/10 :)
Most of the negative comments here are just because people failed... Prof Lutz was one of the most flexible and caring profs I've ever had. I had 6 kids in my class with her, and most got 95+ on tests. We all got an A or B except one student who failed... but he put no work into the class. She is one of the easiest profs in the math dept at Delta.
Literally taught by youtube videos, she never posted a single lecture that she actually did herself. One thing I did like was that you could earn a 100% on an assignment even with wrong answers. Prepare for LOTS OF HOMEWORK. You'll learn up to 9 different algebra subjects in one week, it's a lot. Hint: Chegg is invaluable to you for this class.
Professor doesn't teach at all in the online course. You are 100% on your own to learn all the material with just the textbook and homework online. When you take her tests or ask her questions she is very clearly working out of a previous textbook. So understanding her explanations is more work than just accepting the missed points.
Professor doesn't teach at all in the online course. You are 100% on your own to learn all the material with just the textbook and homework online. When you take her tests, homework, or ask her questions she is very clearly working out of a previous textbook. You have about 50/50 of getting a response to any emailed questions.
Ms. Lutz did not instruct this class at all. It was self taught through Newton Alta with videos and text. She did not post one lecture or anything that was her teaching the class. This was extremely disappointing to me. When I did request to meet with her for help she was very accommodating and took all the time I needed to understand the topic.
The entire class was taught by Knewton Alta with no real lectures given by Professor Lutz. Take her only of you have a strong math background. It's an independent course where you can work ahead. Tests and quizzes make up most of the grade. Homework is graded based on completion and may take hours to do one section if too many answers are wrong.
This class was taught by using Knewton Alta videos and assignments. I would only recommend taking this class if math comes fairly easy for you because she didn't provide her own lecture videos. The class is very passable as long as you complete the homework because you can get many wrong, but get full credit as long as you reach 100% mastery.
I took the accelerated online course and it was my worst choice yet. She does not record any lectures, it is all taught by a seperate online platform. Do not get behind, it is nearly impossible to catch up. overall a nice professor but very absent in this class, especially online. You have to be very good with math to succeed in this course.
I took this as an accelerated class during the spring, huge mistake. The class is on Alta and you need to be prepared to teach yourself everything. The professor provides no lectures or examples. I spent 20-30 hours every week completing the homework, it was insane for an Algebra 1 class. Homework is not mandatory but needed to learn the material.
The professor answers emails quickly and clearly sets out the expectations of the class multiple times. Granted she gives out a lot of homework, but she also gives clear feedback on homework problems. She used a system for extra homework called Knewton Alta which was a lot, but it was optional.
This class was fun :D
Beware of class! It not easy
If you care about your grade maybe look elsewhere. She doesn't respond to emails. Do not expect help on anything from her she will tell you to get a tutor. Tough grader. Everything is on Alta. There aren't any lectures just homework assignments 0/10 would not recommend
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER! Absolutely awful, have never had such a bad experience with a professor. Didn't actually teach anything, changed exam sections less than 48 hours before test, sent out a formula sheet then provided a different one on test day with less formulas, was condescending when asked questions, never answered emails, etc. Awful!
