This class is soooooo borning. She's a great professor but the material is boring and hard to follow! If you are taking this class make sure you READ the material, it will screw you over on her tests if you don't. Also her tests are tricky read the questions carefully...she tries to trick you!!!!!!!
all around great professor, she loves what she teaches and knows her stuff, she is the most easy going and helpful professors i have ever had!
she's a great instructer who knows what she's talking about. she also makes great study guides
SHE ROCKS!!! SHE IS SOOO SWEET AND SOOO HELPFUL!!! IF YOU EVER TAKE A SOCIOLOGY CLASS TAKE IT WITH HER!!!
Dr. Myers is a great professor of Sociology and always tries to make the material fun, even if it is boring. She really knows what she's teaching and truly loves it. She talks about her kids a lot which is cute. She is extremely helpful when it comes to studying for tests. Make sure to READ or drop the course.
Makes a three hour class go by fast, its easy to get an A if you read the material. She is really nice and loves to hear comments, is very polite and funny
The easiest class ever. Any paper we wrote i whipped it up in a half hour. Didnt read three 300 page books, just listened in class and used her notes which are very helpfull plus all u really got to do is come on review day and listen write down everything she says and study just that. SUPER EASY CLASS !!!got an a with out trying
Dont buy the book. Study guide questions is all you need and just listen during class and you'll do fine on the test. Nice lady but if you bring something up she's not about change at all. For some reason I sucked at taking her tests, everyone else did fine. *shrugs*
Nice teacher, very understanding of stressful college life. Some material can be boring, but she is always up for a group discussion. Be careful what classes you skip, some are very, very important!
Myers LOVES sociology. I am so excited to take her other coarses she teaches. She wants students to come ask for help if they need it. She has papers in her Intro. class but they are really simple, just put exactly what she says to put in it and you will get 100% and her tests are pretty simple too, no final either.
Great teacher!
She is a great teacher - funny & likeable. Class is easy if you read the books assigned & answer the questions. She tells you what to study for on tests & papers are simple. Class was very interesting too. Highly recommended.
Great teacher. Nice/helpful and entertaining. She's very understanding of circumstances. Her papers are very short, and an easy A. Makes classes interesting and always available for emails &questions.
easiest and interesting class. shes really nice and easy to understand. lots of examples. gives you outline of the test. half lecture/half book. text is easy its a bunch of articles. she makes it fun and it was a nice early morning class.
Easy class, Myers is great. Better show up or you will be lost. She gives you study guides for the tests, papers are easy.
I took her Modern U.S. Society course and loved it, she is a wonderful teacher and her tests are all multiple choice or true false. Read really interesting novels in class and learn alot. Class is alot of fun and pretty easy :)
Professor Myers is a very receptive professor. She is helpful and understanding of individual needs and will do her best to make sure you understand and learn the material needed for test. She also lays out her expectations and the material that will be on the tests and doesn't put "trick" questions on her tests.
I love Myers one OF the best teacher I ever had. VERY DIVERSITY AND UNDERSTANDING. Loves and knows what she is teaching. Very helpful and clear of her subject
Great teacher! Tests you need to study for but if you put time into them you'll get an easy A. Half Book/Half Lecture. You only have 4 papers to write and you get a few chances for extra credit. If you try you'll easily get an A. She is a very understanding teacher and if you make it everyday the lectures are easy. Overall A+ Teacher
My favorite teacher at Normandale thus far! She's very straightforward and easy to understand, tells exactly what is going to be on exams, and is overall a very nice person. You must go to class though, especially on review days, or you will be lost and will not know what to expect on the tests. Overall, I definitely recommend her!
Shes a great teacher! Go to class, right the papers, listen to what she says, and study for the tests and you will get an A+. She gives plenty of extra credit out too! overall shes really helpful and a nice person!
She is the best intructor I ever had.
If you are taking any Sociology course, she needs to be your teacher. She is the best teacher ever!
I always thought she was really dry in her lectures at first, but after a few weeks really began to appreciate how simple it was to sucseed in the class. Just show up and you know all the answers for the test. Her review sheets are amazing. She even tells you what you don't need to know form it. Tests are easy if you study, even just for a little.
I had her my first semester at Normandale. And she was by far the best teacher I had that semester, probably one of the best I have had this whole year. She really helps you and shes a very nice lady :)
GREAT teacher! Easiest and most interesting class.
I had her for the 2 week course and it was amazing. Best decision i ever made. Great teacher. Really cares about you and your grade.
She's a great teacher and her exam notes are awesome!
She gets right to the point with notes actually tells you what you need to study. Her homework and tests are pretty easy.
i took this class to fulfill a transfer goal and it's one of the best classes i've took. she tells you exactly what you need to study, and gives real life examples for us to understand. she's really nice and a great teacher. take this class (or another one she teaches )for sure
If you gotta take a socialogy class, take hers, quite easy on the school work assignments and does check over what you do. The test on the other hand do make you think but thats the purpose of school....to make you think. If you need any help she is quick to assist. Not wise to miss a lecture you'll miss a ton. Lots of reading! But no textbooks.
The class was very fun. She brought activities to class to work on concepts. No text book, but a couple non-fiction novels. Notes are clear, lots of study guides, homework is clearly described and graded kindly. Encouraged dialog, and very helpful on a personal level. Lots of effort to keep class current and interesting.
She is very helpful and her lectures are engaging. The class I took with her was pretty easy. You can definitely get an A from her, provided you put forth a minimal amount of effort.
Good teacher, uses a lot of paper, which seems like a waste by the end of the semester. Gives you handouts on what to study for the test, and then go's over handout to tell you what you actually need to know. Overall good teacher!
Great teacher. I took her 2 week course and would highly recommend it. Lots of reading and lectures. She reviews what you need to study for the tests. Very helpful and will answer any questions, even if you have a question on the test. Fun class.
Take her class! She is one of the best teachers ive had thus far. She is lil and cute also :)
So helpful, always told you exactly what to study for the test so that you were not wasting time.
Such a cute little old lady! She really knows what she's talking about. I kinda coasted through and got a B; if I'd read more often I could have an A. Not super intriguing material but pretty interesting.
She was a really great teacher! She made it interesting with videos, quirky stories and class activities. I should have read the book more but she tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests. Don't miss review days, they are extremely helpful!
Her class was easier than most of my high school classes. She told us what was going to be on quizzes, she would perfectly explain notes and made sure everyone had time to write notes down before she would talk about them. You will have to read a few books but you can also probably get away with skimming for answers. My only A in college so far lol
She was one the best I have had! She explains very clearly and she makes sure everyone gets her notices in the board! She tells what is going to be in her test. I diffidently recommend her class to take.she would understand and issues you may have. In my opinion, she is easy and makes easy the material.
This rating maybe a bit premature, due to the fact that I am currently in her class. However, Professor Myers thus far is an excellent teacher. Her lectures are fun and clear. She gives alot of material but the pace of the class is doable and material comprhensive. Good luck to all!
This is the person who was still in her class at the time, but I rated her anyway... well, I got an A. Once again, she's a clear, articluate instructor take her.
I love her! She is fantastic and gets right to the point :) I am glad to see she is getting good reviews because she deserves it! :) I love her, I really do wish all of the teachers were like her. She is straight forward, makes it simple, and admits the areas she lacks in (like science and math), which I enjoy (=
Phyllis is probably my favorite teacher at nomandale! She tells you EXACTLY what to do, what to write, what to study for, etc. Her directions are clear and her lectures are always organized. She also is extremely helpful! If you haven't taken a class with Mrs. Myers...DO IT!
Phyllis is a sweet & WONDERFUL teacher!!! She uses methods that make learning fun! She also teaches her material in a way that makes it easy to understand. She is very organized which makes it easy to follow along. I would definitely reccommend her for anyone interested in taking a sociolgy class!!
Really nice teacher!! She makes sure you know exactly what's on the test. Really helpful with questions and prompt email responses. She really wants her students to do well. If you haven't taken a class with her sign up for one!
I took Into to sociology with Myers and the class was really easy, if you do the work and reading! Lecture was boring and there were a few pointless extra credit points, but overall the class is an easy A if you put effort in.
Easy going teacher, very clear about what she wants done, very helpful, and cooperative, and easy to talk to. Best teacher ever...
This is my favorite teacher ever. She gives you a syllabus and then follows it to a "T". Would take another class of hers in a heartbeat!!
super easy teacher, very fun class ! highly recommend taking her class
Dr. Myers is a very sweet lady. She is the BEST professor when it comes to "CLARITY"! Very easy to understand, no tricky questions, and very fun class activities. TAKE HER CLASS NOW BEFORE SHE RETIRES!!! Don't miss the review for the exam day. It is really helpful! ^-^ I am hoping I can take another class with her very soon! ;)
Easy class. Gives you the questions that are on the test. Textbooks are novels, but novels don't seem to relate to the subject. Tested on things that happen in the book like "What did this character say to this one?" Pointless questions, but easy.
I feel as though she can mostly comprehend her teachings(sociology)but she can put it on paper very well or enplane it well. She only reads off her handouts, her test are based off actually knowledge of the subject the other portion is of random examples in the textbook. Her grading of papers is on use of words and paragraph spacing.DoPaperNotTest!
DO NOT BUY BOOKS if in intro. You can find at library. PDF of Whistling Vivaldi online too. Or I can sell you my books EASY CLASS. Do your hw assignments (very easy) and fill out study guides she gives you. Attend class to take notes since there is no textbooks. Some days you won't be doing much.
She is the easiest professor you will ever have. She gives you questions in advance on your study guide which will be word for word. You hardly have to spend money on books. She also gives extra credit. She is also very reasonable with grading. Easiest class to pass!
LOVE HER! so funnny and has the best stories. her class was very interesting, i probably only got bored like twice the entire semester. Test are easy if you do the review. You dont have to attend class to understand whats going on, just make sure you have someone to take notes from. TAKE HER!
Phyllis is a cute, little, (kinda) old lady! There is no textbook for this class, however we read 4 different novels over the semester. Lectures are boring, but she gives you the exact info on the test. Stay after on test review days for test answer keys! I put in barley any effort and got a high B. BEST prof for sociology @ the dale.
4 exams (no cumulative final), 4 novels (100 page books), and 4 papers (two pages and not graded on grammar or structure, easy to BS). Lectures tend to get boring, but worth going - gives out extra credit on random days. She also gives you the test keys the day before the test if you stay after class is dismissed. Funny stories, fun personality.
I really enjoyed this class! She was such a good teacher. Show up for class because you can get extra info for the tests and she gives out extra credit on random days. Review days for the test are the best she goes over everything you need to know.
Somewhat unprofessional and can be confusing.
Not a very professional Professor. Class is way to easy!
When I took her class, I felt like I was in Junior high school. She preps for tests and no high expectations. If you want an easy grade... take her. Not recommended.
If you read the books and are a decent writer, you will pass this class no problem. Did feel a bit like middle school, which is ironic since I am almost 30. If you pay good money for your education, and want to learn something, take a different class. Yawn factor is high.
This class was just ok. It could have been much more engaging. Overall, i dont have many complaints. the first exam is harder than the rest. numerous papers but they are very straightforward. If you follow directions and complete your work an A won't be unobtainable. Phyllis is a sweet person and is hard not to like
Expect to stay longer than the assigned class times, and expect to be treated as though you are still in middle school. Her lectures are extremely dull, slow, and uninformative. Great class for an easy A,however, if you would like to learn something and leave class curious towards sociology then find another professor!!
Phyllis is kind of an old schooler. She is clear-cut, punctual, and also a bit eccentric. It seems as tho over her years of teaching she has distilled her curriculum down to the basics but you still are able to get a lot out of it if you try. Or if you just want the credit she is not going to make it hard on you. Just learn it and try.
Boring lectures.. Phyllis is sort of funny I guess. She thinks her tests are super difficult, but they're not. You read a book per test along with other information that she gives you during lecture. And you also have 4 papers to write which are 5 points each, also really easy Just make sure the margins are 1"
Easy tests and the books are interesting. I would definitely recommned the class. Lectures can be boring
Easy to listen to in lectures, best professor ever.
Great teacher! Her lectures are interesting & so are the shows/films we have to watch in class. She gives out lecture notes AND study guides for the exams/book reviews. Your grade is based out of 4 exams & 4 papers. The papers are super easy, and if you study off the study guide & show up to class every time, you won't get anything lower than a B.
Loved her class, her assignments weren't too difficult. Was having a difficult time with this class material at first, but she explained it to me very well during her office hours! Read the assigned books!
Easiest class I have ever taken, but I learned basically nothing. The tests were very easy but she tests on random material that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the subject. The only reason for class is to get handouts. If you want an easy A then take the class from her, if you want to learn something then take from someone else.
Phyllis Myers is a great teacher. She is approachable, amiable, and cares about student success. And while she shines in her personality, I seriously question her choice of learning material and curriculum. The required books hardly connect with the course and the information you are required to know is frivolous and painful to memorize.
Super easy - taking this as a hybrid. As long as you show up to class one day a week, you'll do fine. Test outlines are nearly word for word on tests. She assigns books to read - easy reads/just look for the answers. A few papers that are due every few weeks - easy and short. Just make sure you review all the materials.
Prof. Myers is a nice lady. Her class consisted of 4 exams(easy) and 4 one page papers(easier). Test consists of book questions and lecture questions. Follow the study guide (lecture review) and you will do great on the test. Tests are multiple choice and the questions from the book are T or F. Book lectures are fill in the blank.
She is a nice professor, but her lectures are dull. She never posts grades on D2L. She gives you a grade formula to follow instead. Some of test question make absolutely no sense. If you miss a test, the only time you can retake it is right after the final with no time to study, even if you have time before the final taking period is over.
I am taking Phyllis' summer online class. So far in one month, the professor has 4 papers, 4 book quizzes, 4 lectures quizzes, with 2 being extra credit if I have done all 10 assignments. He/she gives quick feedback (Excellent, Exceptional, etc.), but also really care about what you write. Explanation always come in details. Should take this course
I took her Intro to Sociology class online during the summer & had no issues. Everything is there for you & the homework/tests aren't hard. Plan hard & you will do fine. The only issue I had was she does use type writer font for everything & homework/papers are typed in a very specific way. Other than that the class in easy & Phyllis is really nice
Took the online Soc1104. The class is as easy as it comes. But*** You cannot skip a single assignment. 10 assignments... 1 grade per assignment. Be diligent
Took Intro to Sociology online. Easiest class I have ever taken. Just follow her rules- you will get 10% off for not including your name on anything you turn in and 10% off for forgetting to write the document you found the answer in, even though it's obvious because she posts them and tells you exactly where to look. No surprises in this class.
This is the most trivial classes I've ever taken. She has designed it to be as easy as possible for her with little care about anyone's actually learning. The work for the entire class consists of four one page papers and reading four ENTIRE books for multiple choice tests. No discussions, lectures are her reading straight from the handout.
Phyllis is incredibly sweet and funny. I took her hybrid course, and we had four one-page essays as well as four tests. The essays were very easy and had clear descriptions of what to include. The tests required A LOT of memorization, but she handed out study guides that had the exact information that was on the exams. Uses movies, lectures & games
I don't even know what to say. QUESTION: How many coat hangers were at Olympic Village 2012? ANSWER: Who Cares? That's the depth of the course. Less than zero learning happens in this class. You'll be SUPER at Trivial Pursuit. Test questions come directedly from fill in the blank worksheets she provides. RIDICULOUS. Measures margins on papers.
A very nice lady. You only get graded on 4 papers. She lays out exactly what she wants making it easy. Additionally, there is 4 exams including the final if you score good on the first three then do not have to take the final. You are told to read the books for the exams but never read them. I did the hybird class
I took this online class in the summer and it was so easy. Make sure to buy the textbook because it will help for the worksheets online. Only a couple assignments and you can work at your own pace because she posted everything at once. Take her online!!
Dr Myers is a very nice lady. She also makes class super easy. She makes study guides, as well as book assignments to fill out as you're reading one of the four books. This made studying for tests easy. Lectures are kind of dry, but there are a few films to watch throughout the semester. You write four papers, but they are easy.
Caring teacher, I do like her but I think you shouldn't take her if you want to learn the subject. You will read handouts written as bulletin points. Expected to remember random information. If it's not random, then it wasn't properly explained on why I should care. SparkNotes the 4 books. She makes it easy to pass but hard to learn.
If you want to learn anything about sociology I wouldnt recommend her. Her exams are basically all memory based like she would pick random quotes from the book we read and it would be a question on the test and there a lot to remember. However the papers are really easy and you only write four 1 page essays. You do alot of fun things in class
She has you read four books and write up a few papers, but they're all very easy and the tests are also super easy. She gives you a study sheet, which will 100% have those questions on the test
Dr. Myers is great! Her lectures are very entertaining and she gives you all the information you need. This class does have a fair amount of reading and material to memorize but do the work, and its an easy A.
This teacher is well organized and clear in what she expects from you. There was a bit of reading between the book and lectures. However, she was thorough and left no room for error on her expectations of the student. The assignments (especially the papers) were always enjoyable and makes you think about society a bit different. Highly recommend!
Extremely easy 'quizzes' and has short papers. You don't really learn anything, very cut and paste type class. If you want an easy A go for it, but if you want to learn, then don't take this class. Assignments are due every other week. 3 units
This is the easiest class i've ever taken. If you actually do the work that takes 20 min tops you'll get an A. I have not lost a single point in this class. Prof. is really flexible too, will let you submit stuff even after the due date, w/o taking points off. Take this class for an easy A. Did not learn much - but super easy.
Best professor this school ever hired. If you just simply do the few assignments she asks of you then you will pass the class. You dont learn anything, she lets you read the lecture notes when she gives you quizzes. She gives you the page number in the book for each question on the tests. Overall easy A class, only take if you need a easy A.
Professor Myers was a great professor with an easy class. All the quizzes were like assignments so nothing is proctored and its open note. If you do the work (which is super simple), youre guaranteed to pass. It took me an hour-an hour 1/2 a week to finish the classs work. Super good and Myers is amazing!
Despite what people say about how this class is so easy, it is true. I took this is as a summer class, and it is the easiest class ever. You do not learn anything. All you have to do is do the homework and the papers, and you will get an A. For the homework, all you have to do is basically copy off from the book, and you're done. Easy A.
Professor Myers was by far the easiest and most laid back professor ever. I learned absolutely nothing in her class because every single assignment was copy and paste. If you want to learn anything about sociology then dont take her. However, if you want an easy A then take her. Super easy A class if you do the assignments on time.
This class was EXTREMELY easy, especially for a summer class. The assignments are all copy and paste so its difficult to lose any points on them. Dr. Myers grades things very quickly and leaves feedback which is nice. Take this class if you need the credit, not if you want to remember anything about sociology.
This is such an easy class. I probably spent less than 10 hours on this class the whole semester and still have an A in the class. She gives you what you need to know for the test and that is exactly what is on it. The papers are basically a guaranteed 100%. I have get to come across someone who hasn't got an A in this class.
Phyllis was a very kind and respectful teacher. Her class wasn't too difficult, but it definitely made you work for it. There are 3 papers, 3 exams, 4 participation points, and extra credit, and that's all. Make sure to take detailed notes as you can use them on the test!
She was an amazing teacher, and I enjoyed being in class with her. Homework-wise wasn't too bad, just make sure you take good notes as you can use them on the test. She always did her best to answer questions, but overall feedback was limited. Papers were much easier than they seem, but still, make sure you work hard on them.
Makes the class easy and a super nice lady!
I am a month into this course, completed the first paper and exam. Probably have spent a total of 4 hours working on this class so far- half an hour on the paper(100%), 3 hours for the exam which included all months work.. Kind of upsetting that I learned more from my highschool sociology class than I am from this one. There is no deeper learning.
Not a lot of homework. Graded based on 3 exams and 3 papers. So if you fail or incomplete one. You lose 16% which means everything is super important. Lectures are interesting and she gives you the resources to sucessed. For the exams, you get a cheat sheet to use. If you need to choose a teacher, pick her!!
Professor Myers is a sweet & caring teacher. You can use cheatsheets (on 1/2 the test material) on the 3 easy exams given, there's barely any HW & you don't have to work hard at all to get an A. You honestly don't learn much but I liked her and she was pretty accommodating. If you have other hard classes and need an easy A- pick this one. Trust me!
TAKE HER NOW. The school system is messed up but this professor changes all of that. Easy on the work and tests are very easy. Whenever you email her she always replies quickly and makes sure you feel good about the course in general.
Assignments are straight to the point while also open-ended, room for creativity, implementation of learned material, and growth. Grading criteria is very clear. As long as you read and follow directions, you can easily receive all points. Professor Myers provides extra credit in case you miss a couple points. Definitely recommend! Fun course!
I took this class in the summer with 2 other classes. This was the best class out of my summer classes. Grades and assignments are clear, work is manageable with work and life. Highly recommend!
This is one of the easiest classes you will ever take. 3 papers 3 exams. Both are very easy.
One of the easiest classes I've taken. Her lectures are interesting and fun a lot of the time, and all content is available online too. 3 papers and 3 exams. Papers are very easy, exams you need to study for but she lets you bring a sheet of notes with all the answers on it, the answers being available online
Easiest class I have ever taken. As long as you follow her exact guidelines, papers are a piece of cake. Tests are all true or false, and she allows you to have a full sheet of lecture notes. Do the reading guides and you'll be set. Very low time commitment and work needed to get a good grade.
I recommend taking this class!! She's super respectful and always gives a clear grading agenda. If you get any points off, she will always leave a note saying why. The class was overall super easy, and all of the lectures and homework were straightforward. I will definitely be taking another class with her!
Honestly one of the best professors if you want a simple and easy class. For intro to sociology, there was a cheat sheet for the exam, and if you make flashcards for the book review questions, you'll be set. She makes it very very easy to get an A if you just follow instructions
I love everything about Phyllis Myers. She is a great person, and everything about the course is clear and straightforward. Had a great time with this course. Would definitely take this course again.
She's very smart and knows a lot. Only 3 papers and 4 tests. Lets you have open notes, very easy tests. Just do the readings and you'll get an A.
I just love her. I really enjoyed her class. I would recommend everyone to take this class.
She is amazing professor. For her exams, you have to study well if you want to pass but overall she is great caring person!
The best! Only the papers and tests are what make your grade. 3 papers and 3 tests. Tests are true & false and have 30 questions, 15 from the book & 15 from lecture. As long as you go through lecture notes and read the book you will do just fine. On the exams she allows you to bring a paper one side only with anything from the lecture notes!
I took Intro to Sociology with Phyllis. She's really lenient and nice. Her grading system is set up so that papers and exams (there are three of each) are both worth half of your grade so you should be able to pass if you're good at one and not the other. Also, half of the content on exams is open note. Would recommend!
Very sweet teacher, I highly recommend any of her classes. I took her intro to sociology and it was the easiest A I've gotten. Three papers, three exams and all open note. Even with little effort you'll still pass the class.
You have to take this teacher.
Phyllis was an awesome professor. Super easy grader, with clear deadlines and lock dates. If you need to take a Sociology course for a credit, take her class. Do what you need to, and you'll get your A.
This class was extremely easy and informative. You have to complete 3 papers and 3 book/lecture quizzes, which are open note and very easy to complete. The papers are not essays you need to complete, but more of a free white to an open question. Super easy class if you need the credit
Phyllis Myers is an amazing professor. The class is well-structured with manageable work, and her teaching style makes the content very accessible. Definitely take this course - the tests are straightforward, and unstuck AI can be a great study aid.
