Very energetic and enthusiastic. Class is fun and easy.
Lots of energy. Makes class as fun as can be. Easy class to get a 4.0 in.
Great professor!!
Easiest class ever. Prof. White does a very good job presenting the material. She's very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the subject.

Hands down, the BEST professor I've had yet.
great enthusiasm. very interesting.
great teacher for the class by far made earlier music fun to listen to
I learned so much in this class. P. White is amazing.
I took this class last year and it was great. She is a very happy teacher for an 8am class. She knows her music and makes it fun for you. If you receive below a 3.5 something is really wrong with you...Miss ya Mrs. White. :-)
By far the best professor I've had at OU. I knew nothing about music except how to turn the radio on and I got a 4.0. She understands that people learn in different ways and uses that in her lectures. Easy assignments. Take this class! I had a blast!
The BEST professor I have ever had. Easy going, smart and helpful. She grades you on everything from online quizes (that you take as many times as you want), oral reports, and papers.
Do it, do it
Easiest class in the world!
A very fun course. Professor is awesome!!!
great teacher; a little sarcastic and smart mouth, but easy class!! Great online quizzes that you may take over and over again until you get every answer right!
Great teacher, very willing to help. Not too tough, final is a little tough. A LOT of listening and memorization. DO study and you should do very well. Easy enough class.
Took it during the spring. Couldn't stand two hours of her talking without breaks. Easy class. Nice teacher. Cares a LOT about music. Is a clone of Pheobe from friends. Hand to God.
Very nice and talkative. She really knows her stuff! She is very helpful she will take time out and answer any questions that you may have. She is Wonderful!!(Ms.Thang)
This Professor is great! She really knows her stuff. She grades you on online quizes that you can take as many times as you want, oral reports, and papers! I recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn about music and this class is a great way to raise your GPA!
Shes very nice and clear. Very easy class
She is the best prof at OU. If you have the opportunity to take her DO IT!!! She is the best and she likes athletes. Very willing to work with you and your schedule. Take her she's the best.
Nice teacher. Very good class for those really into music.
easy class, the exam is all about identifying the music and which era it came from....she gives out a sheet of the songs need to know.
I knew absolutly nothing about music, couldnt even keep a beat and I still got 4.0 on all the assignments so far..
AWSOMEST TEACHER EVER!!!
Awesome class!! If you're looking for an easy Gen Ed definately think about taking this class. the online quizzes weren't fun but they were open book so its not a big deal. Anyone can get an 4.0 in this class
She is really into music. online quizzes are easy and you can take them over as many times as needed. Final is a listening test.. not too bad. Don't sleep in her class. Good Overall.
Very good professor, very clear. She goes at the students pace not her own. She's always bright eyed and energetic and in a great mood. She helped me out a lot and responded to emails fast. I definitely recommend her for any of her classes.
NORMAL PEOPLE BEWARE! She only likes you if you are a BAND NERD. Stear clear from this woman if your life doesn't revolve around music!
still one of the best I've ever had in my 9 years of college
Mrs. White is a very nice and compassionate person. Her class is so easy it isn't even funny. You could go to class about 10 times the whole semester and get a 4.0. She's kind of hot too even though she's like 35.
Phyllis is awesome! And it's a super easy class too. Just online quizzes that you can take as many times as you want, a couple easy projects and the final. That's it!
She is the nicest and most helpful professor Ive had at OU. She's really in to what she teaches and makes the class fun. There is a lot of busy work, but it's not too bad. I definitely recommend her!
Online quizzes you can take as many times as you want, and two presentations and three papers that you can easily fourpoint. You dont ever have to attend lectures to fourpoint the whole class, but if you do her energy and enthusiasm makes them pretty interesting. V. passionate about what she teaches
reall enthusiatic. loves what she does. never had a teacher so into the material like her before. at the begining you could see your right and wrong answers for your online quizes but that changed at the end of the semester so it might be harder to 4.0 the class to easy now. still pretty easy though
Great teacher, but its really easy to skip. As long as you do the reading you really dont need to be there, but beware extar credit is given in class only, and she helps you memorize the 50 required listening examples for the exam. Go to Class!!!! oh and dont forget about you online quizzes!!!!
She's very enthusiastic and loves what she does. You can't be bored with her. If you put a little effort in you can easily get a good score. **BEWARE** : Make sure you make deadlines (especially for the online quizzes because she won't let you take them even if you have a valid excuse).
Phyllis made music theory such a breeze. Anytime I was confused, she would stop to help me with something. Very personal, very helpful--I never would have been able to do it without her.
I love this woman! She was my favorite prof of all time. She is so friendly and so good at explaining the material. This particular class can be boring at times because a lot of it is just memorizing history (names, but not dates), but if you're a music st
Is very very very animated. Some class requirements are unclear.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER HANDS DOWN!!! Loved her music 100 class. She taught me so much and the work was not difficult at all but made you think from a different perspective. Best professor I have had so far at Oakland. I HIGHLY recommend her!!!
LOVED HER. Biscuits are cookies just in case anyone wondered! Awesome teacher, easy assignments. Online quizzes are retakeble, use the book. Go to class, she makes songs to remind you of the composer and the title you just need to memorize the time period. Easy final- listening to music and telling composer, time, and title. GO TO CLASS!!!
Do not take if not a music major. Makes learning the material ridiculous; if you draw a blank, be prepared to be criticized. I did very well, not being a music major, but the work load on top of my other classes reminded me that this is no blow off class. Also, she is willing to berate you during your presentations, so PREPARE. Overall?- Cocky.
The comment below is insane. She is probably OU's best professor. I'm not a music major, and I got a 4.0. Perhaps she criticized during your presentation b/c you WEREN'T PREPARED! Her presentations do NOT take that much effort. It's not a blow off class--no, but it is one of OU's EASIEST gen ed's. Only a total moron would fail it.
Wow, I think the LAST comment was a little idiotic. I happen to know that my roomate left the post you challenge, and I know she got a 4.0 and WAS prepared. I agree with everything she said, White is a GOOD prof, but can be a bit condescending. Take her if you want, don't if you don't.
Absolutely loved her! She is by far one of OU's best teachers. She wants you to succeed not only in her class but in life too. Definately would recommend her to others.
Class was alright. You have to write 3 essays, take a zillion quizzes, do a individual presentation, group presentation, the final...geez. i did well in the class, but i didnt think an art course would have this much work...take her if you have time with other classes
Awesome!!!! Loved her class!!!!!
She was fun and energetic during class and very helpful if you asked her questions. Plus her class was very easy.
Super Easy Class. Nice, but can be very rude and not understanding. She loves music a lot and she loves herself just as much.
the best teacher ever, easy 4.0
Easy, helpful, understanding, loves her job, passionate about the class. she is without a doubt the perfect match for the class. the quizzes are easy and you can retake them till you get an A. definitely take her for Mus100
what a fantastic person! the love she has for other people just flows from her into everyone and everything she does. such a joy that I wish more people were like her.
Prof. White is the best instructor at Oakland University. The work is pretty easy. Prof. White is serious about deadlines as well as completion of assignments, but if you do your work, you will have no problem. Prof. White is very motivating and encouraging, as well. She seems to care about her students. I recommend her highly!
First off, the class is pretty easy. I wasn't a music major and have never been musical so some things were a bit harder for me. She is very sweet, helpful, and understanding. There's quite a bit of writing involved, but it wasn't ever a big deal for me. She offers extra credit too, which is nice if you happen to miss something.
Wonderful and very encouraging! I learned a lot in this class, and I would love to take more classes with her in the future!
She is amazing. I had no interest in music, and I learned a ton. She is a great professor , and I would recommend her to anyone, or take her again. This class is an easy 4.0 if you do all of the assignments and homework. You get a lot out of this if you give it a chance.
Best teacher I've had at Oakland. I am NOT a music major, and this was still my favorite class. A blow of class turned into a easy 4.0 that I throughly enjoyed. As long as you have time management and open up a little bit, you will get an A. She also allows you to correct things you've done wrong. Very inspring and understanding.
An inspiration!Loves music&teaching. It shows in her encouragement. She never has a negative word2say,but does a great job@giving constructive criticism. She will not tolerate negativity from anyone.Judgement free zone, share ur music.I took2courses w/ her&I would take more. She was the most amazing professor Ive ever had&an outstanding character.
took her online class last semester. She seems nice but makes people feel bad in posts that everyone can see. Class is demanding and she definitely expects a lot.
Took mus 339 online during the summer. Not a hard class, but there seems to be a lot of busy work.
Professor white took some getting used to. She's very energetic, so much so that it's distracting from the material she's presenting. I found her over enthusiasm annoying. She's a fairly nice teacher, but she doesn't tolerate tardiness. I was late to the final and she wouldn't replay the listening examples which hurt my grade. She was rude about it
After not letting me listen to the listening examples she did go out of her way to meet with me outside of class so I could, which was helpful.
Since this class was online there was a lot of assignments but they were easy and sort of fun. Very nice teacher and always gives back great feedback.
Shes actually a really great professor. One of the nicest people and really cares about students. This class has a lot of assignments so be prepared to at least 2 assignments a week. The class is actually really fun. There are no tests or quizzes. You are required to go to 3 concerts, and write a paper on each. Also theres 3 projects. Easy grader
On the outside she is an extremely energetic and enthusiastic teacher, and for most students that's enough. But I soon realized that she is very impersonal and fairly superficial. She literally copies and pastes feedback for the online assignments and says the same thing to every student. Also, don't be late to class.
She has an excellent teaching style. She always gives you her full undivided attention and is very enthusiastic. However, her material is completely boring and she hates students who miss a class or two or show up late. DONT get on her bad side. Also, she never gives quizzes or tests which make the material uninteresting.
She is one of the sweetest and most caring people I have ever met. She is passionate about music and really respects and cares about her students. There were no exams or quizzes. We were graded on attendance/participation and we had to write three concert review papers and do three group projects. I didn't want the class to end. She is wonderful.
She is an amazing, kind person. Be prepared to set aside a few hours a week to dedicate to this class, it is not a blow off by any means. Get ready for assignments. But all the content is very interesting and fun. If you reach out to her, she will help you succeed!
OMG I LOVED THIS CLASS. SHE WAS AN AMAZING PROFESSOR. SHE WAS ALWAYS PRESENT AND WAS A VERY LENIENT GRADER. I RECOMMEND ALL TO TAKE THIS COURSE. ALSO SHE MADE THE CLASS FEEL LIKE A HOME, SHE OFTEN EXPLAINED HER REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES THAT LED HER TO THE MUSIC WORLD. PLEASE EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOUR DOING AND TAKE THIS CLASS.
She was a great professor. I learned so much in her class. I found her class to be very easy if you showed up and did your work. I would definitely take this class again.
Professor White was excellent. She did a great job with bringing the course to life. The online class was fun and engaging. She has definitely opened my musical ear. I enjoyed the music edit clips and reflections. Last paper is a Phenomenological Paper on Music. I thought it would be difficult, but her outline and expectations helped.
Best professor I've had! I actually looked forward to class. Her lectures were interesting and she always started out the day with an inspirational talk. You can tell that she cares deeply for her students. She is very easy to get a hold of outside of class. Papers and projects take a bit of work but she's a SUPER easy grader. Textbook went unused.
Professor White is the best professor I have had so far at Oakland University. She really cares about her students and enjoys each and every class period. Even if you aren't interested in what she is teaching, she makes it fun to learn about.
It was hard to get used to her extreme levels of enthusiasm at 8am, but after I adjusted to that I enjoyed the class. There are no tests or quizzes, so as long as you write the 3 papers to the best of your ability (she makes a point of knowing each person and their initial level of musical knowledge) you will get an A. Very fun class.
A professor who truly enjoys teaching and it shows everyday. She takes the time to know everyone by name and an uplifting encouraging life lesson at the beginning of class. Show up, turn in the assignments you will get an A+.Very easy grader as long as there was moderate effort put in. No tests or quizzes. Relaxed environment. Prompt email response
This professor is honestly one of the most caring and professional educators that you could ever have.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! I highly recommend her! She cares about her students so much. Class is an easy A as long as you go to class and do the work. I seriously love her and she was by far my favorite professor ever.
She's an amazing professor. She makes everything extremely fun and you will definitely get an easy 4.0 if you at least try all her assignments. However, she gets really mad at those who fall asleep or go on their phone in class. If you do that, she will call on you more than everyone else.
Her class is basically moodle forums which are either a music lounge or reading chapters from a book and a documentary with write ups... The write ups and moodle forums had very vague requirements, but you were expected to be in depth with a lot of material. She gave mean feedback to me on a couple assignments. Also the material is extremely boring
MUS 101 (online) was a great course! Professor White gives great feedback and ALWAYS lets you redo your work to earn the fullest points! She really deeply cares for her students and honestly wants the best for every single person in her class. The homework load was light some weeks, then heavy the next week, but really nothing too hard to handle.
Don't take this course if you are expecting a blow off. I spent more time on this course than I did on my upper level major courses. Too much work is required for the 3 "create music" projects and 3 "concert reviews" (2 you have to see a live orchestra concert). She has given me feedback addressed to other students. She copy/pastes feedback.
she's the type of professor that is so passionate about what she's teaching which makes the class more bearable. she was so enjoyable to have. she gives pep talks every morning, and is the kindest professor i've ever had she geniuenly cares about her students. class was extremely easy, there's many projects but nothing too hard.
She is simply wonderful. It was an online class but I still felt like I knew her so well. She is very clear in what she wants, but if you're unclear just send her an email. She replied quickly and explains everything well. Very caring, dedicated professor.
She has been here teaching MUS 100 for 30 years, but she's still so passionate about it. It made it worth getting up in the morning and I found myself getting very excited to go to class. Amazing professor and even better person.
She's very enthusiastic, which is good, but it gets to be a bit much sometimes. I think she takes the class to seriously. We had projects that took me longer than some of my engineering projects, which I think is absurd.
Dr. White is an incredible professor that allows students to engage the material even if they have no prior musical experience. Listen to the required music outside of class and pay attention during lecture and you will get a lot out of this course. Phyllis is also caring and easily approachable if you're having any trouble with the material.
The best professor I'VE EVER HAD. I really mean that. This woman went above and beyond to make the material interesting and entertaining! No tests. Just three easy projects. This woman truly LOVES all of her students and cares so deeply about their well being. You can't leave OU without taking a class with Professor White. Go. Go sign up NOW.
Easier than any high school class I ever took. Dr. White cares about her students, but she is very enthusiastic and will call on you out of the blue to make sure youre paying attention.
Dr. White is a very passionate and caring teacher and she is very enthusiastic about what she is teaching. There are a few projects that take a bit of extra time but she isnt looking for it to be perfect, just to show that you put in effort. She will let you out of class usually 30 min early
In the beginning of the semester I was not doing any of my work and soon began to fail the class. After her reaching out to me(which is quite rare to see in a collegiate level course) I began to turn my grade around and now have a high A grade. There is for some reason a lot of work in this class, and has been more work than any other class.
Phyllis White is probably one of the best professors ever! She cares about every single one of her students. She wants you to pass the class and helps anyone who is struggling get there. She starts off every day with a motivational speech and talks into students. One thing is you cant be on your phone or fall asleep because she doesnt like it.
Professor White is an incredible human being all around. She cares for you and does all she can to insure that you pass with nothing less than a 4.0. No tests are given, only three short projects and three simple papers based on concerts you attend. Highly Recommended, would 100% take again.
Phyllis White is an absolute angel. She is such a sweetheart and is always so encouraging. You can tell she really cares about her students. She was always telling us that she believed in us and was all in all a wonderful human being. What's on your playlist was one of the funnest classes I've ever taken. Easy 4.0 if you put in the work.
You have like 6 project to do in this class and they are super easy. She is super nice and sweet. She will call you out if you're on your phone, you can only skip 2 classes and will have to do online work, but she knows her students personally and is super caring. Don't even think about handing something in late. NO TESTS OR EXAMS
Prof. White is one of the most caring and friendly professors I've ever had. The class was just online forum postings with a paper (the final) and a quiz (a midterm), and everything was really easy and straightforward. She also made the class super interesting and fun, which surprised me considering this is an online gen ed!
One of my fav profs ever! Shes awesome!
Took her What's on your Playlist online. This is not an "easy A" class. Usually 2 weekly assignments(playlist posts, questions, journals). Can not turn anything in late. This class is not too hard, but she sometimes seems to expect everyone to be a music genius, when this is a gen. ed. She is very nice though&gives you a chance to re-do things!!
I took her online class. It is the usual Homework but you had the whole week to do it. You doing the hw counts as attendance. I honestly think you learn even if you dont want to. If you get a low grade she will give you the opportunity to redoit and you get the full credit. Take her online class its an easy A and trust me.. its not as boring.
This class is actually a lot of work. You have to put in a lot of time and reading to correctly do the assignments. If they are done incorrect, she will make you repost for credit. There were three projects throughout the semester that took a good amount of time to do. She provides the textbook on hold in the library instead of buying it.
This is a professor who wants to see you succeed. The class isn't terribly difficult, and she gives you so many resources to help you along the way. Ask for help if you need it, but there are always options to make up work or receive extra credit points.
Great Professor easy 4.0
MUS 1001?was my first full online class, but it was such a pleasant experience! Dr. White knows how to combine various resources to help students learn the material, with weekly forum postings and discussions to help emphasize it. Since it is an online class, forum participation is mandatory, but its reasonable and even fun at times!
Very good professor. She cares about her students and encourages abstract thinking. She was always quick to send feedback and you received feedback on ALL assignments. She offers remedies for anything you do that isn't complete or missing parts with no loss of credit. You won't regret taking her.
I absolutely loved this professor!! I took her online class and got more out of it than I thought I would. She knows what she's talking about and gives feedback that helps in the future. I would recommend this class and you won't find a better professor honestly 100/10. She wants you to succeed but you have to actually try! I 4.0ed the class!
Easiest class I've ever taken, BUT don't take it for granted! I actually learned a lot and actually enjoyed this class. Weekly forum discussions can be pesky, but it's easy points. She always gives you the option to fix your mistakes for credit back, and even offers extra credit! No exams, just 1 quiz and final paper/playlist. Take this class!!!
There are a lot of forums, theres no text book so you have to buy a new song each week to participate in the weekly class discussion. Shes great but this class does take a lot of time and dedication
This was my first online class that I've taken, and I have to say, I am so happy that it was with Phyllis. Throughout the entire semester, she would send us emails that were full of positive affirmations, constantly telling us that she's here for us if we need help. If you have the pleasure of taking her for any class, please do!
You can tell the professor is very passionate about the subject being taught, however, do not take her for a summer course. The amount of work given is unrealistic for those who don't devote hours and days a week to just one class. It all feels like busy work, rather than impactful and meaningful assignments, definitely better in a full semester.
She is so caring and helpful, assignments are easy(online) but some do require some time, would recommend this as an online class. Super easy and very fun talking about music and sharing your music choices with the class. She offered wonderful feedback on assignments and if you miss and assignment or do poorly, she offers you to fix it.
I loved this class! If you made any errors on your assignments, Prof. White allows you to fix it for a better grade. It is an online course with due dates once a week, all you have to do is try on each assignment and you will receive a good grade. Awesome feedback comes with every grade you receive, I recommend this class if you enjoy music! :)
Professor White was AMAZING! She was so caring, nice, and really teaches a great course. She was understanding of our lives outside of school, and was very motivational.
This was my first online course, and honestly Professor White is one of the purest professors I have ever had. Assignments given aren't long at all, however the final is a little lengthy but it is very do able and she makes the grading criteria very clear. The lessons will be about your music choice and then incorporating material she gives. Easy!
Phyllis is an amazing human and really cares about her students and the subject matter she teaches. She is quick to answer questions and always kind. As long as you put some effort into the homework and turn it in on time (very important!), she will let you fix mistakes for a better grade. No textbook. I spent roughly 2-4 hours a week on this class
Dr. White has to be the sweetest instructor I've had in my four years at OU. Her expectations are clear and she gives us a realistic amount work. She NEVER belittles her students like other profs, but rather, she speaks highly of each of us in her feedback and emails. Run, don't walk, and sign up for her music class. You won't regret it one bit!
I loved Dr. White so much! She gives such good feedback and her assignments are really fun. She is super understanding and kind. I wish I could take this class 100 more times!
Emailed the instructor to ask a question about grading methods. All I received was disrespect saying I should read the syllabus. During the first exam she didn't specify what will be on it. I ended up receiving a B AT ALL COSTS STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR.
She is so kind and makes you feel like family. She shows a clear grading criteria and expresses each student as a new beginning to teach them. She is so respectful and you can tell she's in it for the right reasons. Definitely take Music with Dr. White. If I could take this class again, I would in a heartbeat!
Professor White is amazing!! Her assignments aren't hard at all and she is the sweetest person when it comes to feedback and grading. I can't recommend this class enough. Easy A and pretty enjoyable!
Dr. White was the sweetest professor and you can tell she really cares about her students. She gave amazing feedback on assignments and sent out encouraging notes multiple times throughout the semester. I spent 3-4 hours tops every week on this class and never received below 100% on any assignment. Easy A, couldn't recommend her more!!
AWESOME PROFESSOR! Professor White is the most caring professor you will ever meet. She gives back very good feedback and grades very fairly. This class was extremely fun and was not too hard. It was my favorite class this whole year and Professor White is also my favorite professor this year! Please please PLEASE consider taking a class with her!
The final exam stated we had 2 weeks to work on it when we really only had 1 week. I emailed her and she gave me an extra day to turn it in. She then forgot and submitted my final grade as a C+ and when I asked she berated me saying I never reached out. I had to screenshot my emails to prove it to her and she was rude to me th she had to change it.
Playlist class is easy. One post a week and respond to 2 peers, barely takes any effort. The only thing that surprised me were the reflection papers that we had about every other week, but even those were easy. Final is a project (essay and post). Basically if you just follow the directions and not bs too hard, easy 100
Im a freshman who switched into this class but immediately switched back out. I completed the first assignment since I was already behind & a few minutes later I receive an email from the instructor (Phyllis White) being very rude and disrespectful towards me saying she didnt know who I was, that she doesnt except late work and lots more. Beware!
I won't say she's the worst professor in the world, but this is ridiculous for a 1000-level class. The workload is really heavy, and she expects you to know musical vocabulary. She is a kind person with a lot of passion, but her assignments take hours to finish, and she does not take into account that her students have multiple classes.
Seemed really nice at first, but leaves tons of backhanded remarks in emails and students' forums. VERY nitpicky, and grades weird - almost pass or fail. Gives no partial credit either. Her positivity emails come across condescending. Also can be vague. DO NOT post early or late or else she gets nasty for some reason. Follow directions to a T.
She's a good professor, but there is a lot of work and you have to use musical vocabulary. There's a mix of discussion forums, reflective papers, concert review papers, and projects. It's nice that there were no tests or quizzes, and that the final was a project. It's time consuming, but she also lets you redo assignments for an A.
Condescending and nitpicky. Waaaay too much work for the type of class this is. Had an emergency which I guess was unacceptable. Be careful about this class.
Professor White is very kind and wants her students to succeed. Be aware there is a lot of work for a 1000 level class. The work consists of discussion posts, projects, and essays. There is no exams or quizzes. I took this as a gen ed with no prior knowledge of music. It is an easy A if you do the work on time.
Professor White is so sweet. Her emails and messages are super thoughtful, and she gives good feedback on assignments for you to get a higher grade. The work was very time consuming, but I also had fun while doing it. As long as you put in effort and turn everything in on time, it is an easy A! I highly recommend Professor White!
Phyllis is amazing! She is so kind and constantly checking in with her students. She actually takes the time to thoroughly look at your work and engage with it. There is quite a bit of work for this class but it is not hard at all and if you miss an assignment you can turn it in at any point of a semester for up to an 80%.
She is clear about her expectations and how you are graded. Assignments are easy as long as you are paying some attention to the lessons. Just try on every one and you will be fine. She gives second chances.
Spent more time on this class than I did on my other important classes. This class is not for you if you enjoy having a life. Be prepared to spend up to 1-3 hours each week finding random music that she wants and writing a ton about it. Don't listen to others that say it is easy or to take her. Worst class I've taken.
She grades super hard and is so strict This class would have been easy if she didnt grade so hard. She says that she is understanding but she does not listen to anything that you have to say. If you email her she probably wont respond and if you are struggling with something her advice is to look at the rubric. She is also very rude in responding.
Any of her good ratings must be made by her because she is an awful professor. The class itself isn't that hard but she is a tough grader and expects people to prioritize this class over anything else even though it is just a gen ed... She is nice at first but once you get deeper into the course, she becomes rude and condescending. Don't take her.
Professor White is overall nice. Her instructions for the class are clear and there is only one assignment per week. However, if you turn in an assignment late even by one minute you'll get an 80%, no exceptions. One thing I didn't like was how she would CONSTANTLY complain when I would turn in an assignment a couple minutes BEFORE the deadline.
Professor White is a phenomenal professor! I knew next to nothing about music but I knew I loved music and she helped me learn a deeper meaning to just enjoying music. Weekly discussion boards, a couple of papers and a final paper. I would recommend anyone to take her class!
Professor White is an amazing professor! She provides feedback on every assignment and always encourages her students. You have a discussion post every Wednesday, 3 small papers, and one larger final paper/assignment. As long as you follow the directions, you'll get a good grade. The work isn't hard just tedious. Pay attention to the little details
Don't be fooled by 5 star ratings, she does them herself because her class seems like it would be easy but she is the worst teacher. She's extremely rude and condescending and makes you redo every assignment that should be a quick and easy grade. She is not nice and you would spend more time on the work in this class than any other class at OU.
The worst class I have ever taken. She gives so much work and except us to prioritize this class over everything else. It's so much for a Gen-ed class. She gives attitude and doesn't explain. When I asked for help she would just re-email me the direction that I didn't understand in the beginning. Take someone or something else. I do not recommend.
Phyllis White has a real passion for music in her classes, but she expects too much, especially for a gen ed class that should be an easy A. You have to download and edit songs, and you can't use songs you have already from a streaming app such as Apple Music or Spotify.
Professor White is a kind, engaging instructor. Though the workload can be time-consuming, she provides great feedback to help you succeed. Using unstuckstudy and the free course materials, I found the class manageable and really enjoyed learning about music.
Dr. White has been a great professor for MUS 1001. She gives good feedback and returns your grades extremely fast. I will agree with other commenters saying that even if your assignments are 1 min late it is counted as 'late', but she was very nice to round up grades a letter. I appreciate her being very kind and encouraging. Would take her again!
Truly one of the best professors I have had, period! She could not be more thoughtful and give some of the most detailed and well-thought-out feedback I have ever seen in a professor. Truly a kind soul and a great teacher.
She is very passionate about music. Her assignments are a lot for a gen-ed, but if you carve out a few hours once a week, you can easily get them done. When there is a reflection, plan for more time because she usually expects 900+ words. Follow rubrics to a T, you will do great. She wants her students to succeed and will leave lots of feedback.
She is the nicest professor at OU. You don't need to buy anything for the class. There is a lot of writing but no test. If you like to write take this course.
The professor is fine unless you get on her bad side. You have to do all the work for a decent grade. If you complete all the discussions and achieve 100%, but miss one reflection, your grade will be reduced to 0% because everything is graded out of 100 points. Just do the work and do it right; she won't give you credit if it's wrong. Lots of work.
This professor is so sweet. She genuinely cares about her career. I love her vibe and she is so sweet. She gives good feedback and is so understanding of personal life. I would recommend her to anyone who loves music since she is extremely passionate about it.
