Dr. Sheng Deng really is a nice guy, I don't agree with people commenting on his accent, that's just rude & he's not hard to understand at all. This class is really f-ing hard. Would NOT have survived w/o my group. I have no idea how anyone could ever take his exams by themselves, my group leaned on each other for everything. We suffered together.

He's a nice man. Powerpoint lectures and labs that he does through excel. He shows you how to do them. Small group projects twice a month fairly easy. A midterm and an exam. Pay attention in the labs, study the powerpoints and know how to work excel. You'll do fine. No need for a book.

Skip class? You won't pass.

Nice guy but not suited for this course, especially since he doesnt seem particularly computer-literate even though hes got degrees in computing. All emails and Zoom, no Canvas or Blackboard, which sucks. Wont know your grade until the end unless he lets you know. Rambles off topic with a thick accent. Luckily a C- is 60 for some reason.

Everything was done through OneDrive rather than on zoom or Moodle like everyone else (why?) In addition, he appears to not know much about computers in general, which is shocking considering he has a degree in the material. Unorganized, uninspiring and all around difficult to get an answer out of.

I never even got to take this class. I needed it, and he let me into the class, but then ignored the fact that I needed help getting the OneDrive links to work. He literally stopped responding to my emails yet continued to send out emails for the class. Had to drop. Clearly doesn't care about students.

He's a really nice guy! I want to correct the person saying he doesn't respond. He can take a while to respond sometimes, but he will respond. We need to understand that professors are busy! We don't use canvas, which can be a bit confusing, but you'll be fine.

Professor Deng is a very nice man, but a not a very good teacher. Class is all through One Drive, which is very confusing, and everything is in groups. Thank the heavens for my group because if it wasn't for them, I would have struggled in this class. Definitely if you're patient, pay attention, and talk to him, you'll be fine.

The class wasn't super difficult, but Dr. Deng never made it easier with his teaching. No term project is a major upside, but the labs can be time consuming even if you're group knows what they're doing. Does not give feedback on assignments and often struggled to answer questions students had on labs. Doesn't understand Canvas either.

His accent is so thick that it is near impossible to understand what he is trying to say. To make matters worse, the group projects are impossible to find on Chegg. He also doesn't know how to use Canvas at all, so have fun with being jumpscared by hidden quizzes he expects you complete within 24 hours of being discretely posted with 0 warning.

I am almost certainly going to have to take this class again. Professor Deng did not speak clearly during the lectures or labs which left me scrambling to understand the material. There is not enough time to complete the quizzes. The projects are not posted in the modules and are hard to find.

Such a kind person, but hard to learn from. Lectures are recorded -- a plus -- but there's mumbling that makes it hard to hear. I thought I'd end up doing ok until the final. It was SO difficult since we didn't get a study guide. I've been so excited for this class to improve my excel skills, and I'm sad I didn't learn anything. It had potential.

Hard to understand. Class assignments have very little to do with computer information systems... more like math class.

Cannot understand or hear him. Does not follow the syllabus. 10 quizzes, 6 group projects, and 2 exams. I stayed in the course because of my group. Quizzes are easy with quizlet/chegg. Super boring and will talk about random things. Beware of quizzes on the weekend without any communication. His labs are not informative and will just confuse you.

The worst professor I've ever had. Will start to make sense, but then doesn't finish the point he was making. You can ask him a question, and he will answer a totally different question, and not address a single concern you have raised. Grades harshly on the group projects, and will post quizzes whenever he feels like it. You won't learn much.

This class was not a pleasant experience, even though I did well. On the first day of class, select your group members carefully! Seriously, if you get a bad group it will be a bad experience. The quizzes were not hard, but the exams can be tricky. Do not expect to learn much. If you can take it with a different professor, I would recommend it.

This class had its challenges, but Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for quiz prep. The professor's thick accent made lectures hard to follow, but the recorded videos helped. Stay on top of the many group projects and surprise quizzes to do well.

Extremely difficult to understand him when lecturing. Talks in circles at times and the accent doesn't help. There are also times when he doesn't answer a question at all. Get a good group in the beginning. If you have access to the presentation slides, use that to study for the quizzes they help. He's most likely the only online class so good luck

his accent is so thick its extremely hard to understand him. He is not computer savvy at all. it took weeks to get access to canvas which was only a single page of the syllabus and scattered links that didnt work. He was never on time with quizzes, test, lectures, or anything. Dates were constantly changed.
