Greatest Teacher! Makes learning French fun, useful, and exciting. So many little things, like contests, videos, and extra credit, make this class and teacher GREAT!! Nice, approachable, fun. He takes the fear out of language.

he is fun, but the french movies he shows are so lame, how about a french film from sophie marceau, I'm sure it's much better than the 1930 french movies he always shows.

He is an awesome teacher. He takes the time to help you if you need it and tests are super easy as long as you come to class! At first I was hesitant about taking this class but he makes it easy and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

He is so funny and knows so much random trivia. He makes French fun and you learn about more than just the language. He talks about culture alot. The only thing is, you have to come to class almost everyday or your grade will seriously suffer.

wow!i thought i did really bad in his class. my french does not sound like french at all. but he is the nicest teacher ever he grades kinda hard just make sure you put in all of your ascents and symbols.memorize your poems & profile.if your struggling you will still pass cause he gives you alot of extra credit by watching frecnh films which is bon!

very good sense of humor and just a really nice person. he doesnt put you down if you make a mistake, he just helps you through it.

Great teacher! Teaches not only the French language, but also some information on life and culture in France. Uses poems, movies, and music to help students learn. Very fun! Would recommend this class to anyone wishing to study French.

My favorite teacher. He's understanding, relates to you on your level and encourages you to participate. His enthusiasm draws you right into the subject matter. He incorporates French films/music/slang in the curriculum, giving you a clear context in which to understand thus enabling you to speak French well. He'll challenge you, but you'll laugh.

I love this class. He is a great teacher. I took French in high school and did not do well. I ended up with an A. Very funny and hot. I suggest you take this class.

He is a wonderful human being. We need more people like him on the planet. I had him over summer and I think he hated me, but even then he was helpful and never wanted to see anyone, including me, mess up. I used to think French people were gay, but he proved to me that they're freaking awesome. If you do the work you should be able to get an A.

Learning another language is not easy, but P. Etienne makes it interesting. He's patient, funny, and an ocean of knowledge. If one is struggling in the class he is willing to take the time to help him or her through it. He also offers many opportunities for bonus points. Pierre Etienne is a fantastic teacher. Highly Recommended!

A French teacher who is actually from France, so he knows what he is talking about and can give you a perspective on the Francophone world. Seriously the best teacher I've ever had. French is a really important subject to me and he really makes it a lot easier to learn. Not only does he know everything about French, I think he knows everything in general. very smart and I highly reccommend taking French with him.

Pierre is a great professor -- he makes his classes fun and entertaining and has a good sense of humor. You will learn a lot about life in France too. Even if you think languages are hard, this class isn't if you show up and put in a little effort.

Great guy! I had his for French 102 last summer and although it was a 3 hour class he made it fun and interesting. Ask lots of questions about culture and do the homework.

Extremely easy class. Never collects homework, but be ready when he calls on you in class. Tests are quite easy. Lots of fun. Lots of extra credit. Makes you love French. Interesting sidenotes. Don't write in your workbook, you'll almost never use it. You learn lots of slang. Final is a bit crazy. Discussion and test.

let's just say: the best professors in the world are the easier one to get an A in their class. LOL

102 is definitely a bit harder than 101, but Pierre is still a great professor, so it's still not too hard to get an A. He always makes class fun and interesting.

PEIRRE IS AMAZING! Really fun and interesting teacher he emphasizes not only the importance of language but the culture that goes with it. I never did my homework and got an A on almost every quiz. He drops your lowest quiz and the final is not cumulative. This will be my third semester with him! GREAT TEACHER!

He is a great professor. He makes learning fun. Attendence is important, obviously, you can learn easier if your around it. He not only teaches about the language but he also teaches the culture. I plan on taking French 102.

Probably one of the best teachers I had considering that foreign language has never been my strong point nor an interest in my academics. But he made me appreciate learning the french language and culture. I'm super psyched to go to a french cafe and order beer!

very friendly and entertaining! he talks a lot so sometimes you won't even do classwork, but attendance is mandatory. he likes to teach about french culture. doing homework is not required, but it helps you to understand and makes tests extremely easy.

AMAZING teacher, extremely cultured guy, and gives 100% to every single one of his students, he makes sure everyone gets what he's saying, not a hard class, however doing HW and participating in class is the way to go. he's very nice and funny! he has no improvements to make.

He really is an attractive guy, in that George Clooney kinda way. One of the best classes I have taken at COC - he focuses on French culture and so he spends a lot of time talking about France, showing movies, presenting poems. Participation is huge in this class, but everything else is easy. He's the kind of professor that really cares.

Great professor, I had him for 101 & 102. Highly recommend for those who are really interested in learning about France and learning French. Makes the classes fun and interesting. Participation and Attendance is big in this class. Make sure to do your assignments and you will do fine.

His anecdotes will keep you interested. Not once was I tempted to sleep or text in class. He's funny and easy going, and such a nice guy. If I'd met him in the real world I'd want to be his friend. I HIGHLY recommend you take his class. You won't regret it.

Coming to class and participating are the most important keys to success. He'll tell you if he's collecting a homework assignment, and he goes over most assignments in class. HIGHLY recommend!!

One of the best teachers I have ever had! He has a great sense of humor. Participation is mandatory but with the laid back feel of the class its a very fun class to take. We go over homework in class but its not usually collected. Few quizzes and tests. A highly recommended class!!

Wonderfull proffessor, very helpfull. The class is deffinatly not "easy" but he makes sure your can get the resources to help you.

He's fun, sweet and charming. He'll ensure that one understands French culture along with enhancing one's French language skills. He provides plenty of opportunities to get extra credit. Be prepared, he randomly calls on people. And there are poem readings, oral presentations, quizzes, exams, homework---etc. Not a cakewalk, but manageable.

Great teacher. Everything you learn from the first few day, will be used til the end the of the semester.. So pay attention! It's all memorization. I got all A's on the quizzes, poem recitals, hw, etc. but I failed the 2 exams, and still got a C in the class. Everything is straightfoward.. I just screwed around. If I tried..

Professor Etienne is a great teacher, and I know it's because he's a great teacher that I really enjoyed this class. If you had any interest in learning French and learning about French culture, he will only solidify that. Either way, I highly recomm

Exceptional teacher and when I had to miss quite a few classes for personal reasons and he was so cool and understanding about everything. Hopefully I will be able to get into the 102 class this Spring.

The class was by no means "easy," but if you memorize the verb forms, use the study guides he gives you, and do the homework, an A is pretty much guaranteed. Pierre is a great teacher; going to class is sometimes the best part of my day, and he always has a funny anecdote or interesting story. Allows 7 absences a semester and rarely checks homework

Pierre is, without a doubt, my favorite professor. His passion for foreign languages/cultures shows in all of his lectures, he's got the greatest sense of humor, and he's a genuinely kind and caring guy. Would highly recommend his class to anyone interested in learning a new language or continuing in French. COC is lucky to have him.

Attendance and Participation is required. You must study a decent amount to pass with an A in his class. This class is not meant for students who are looking to receive an easy A without putting in any effort.

This was the first class I have ever taken that I was completely interested in. Pierre is very charismatic and has a great sense of humor which keeps the class interesting. I actually look forward to going to this class and I would definitely recommend taking this class. If you study and do well on tests, you will pass. Best teacher I've had.

Pierre is perfect, basically. Textbook is used normally in each class for grammar. Quizzes and tests are not too tough. Honestly, the best part of the class is Pierre. He makes it so enjoyable to attend class.

Pierre is great! His lectures are really interesting because more often than not he goes off into a tangent one of the many adventures he's had around the world. He's pretty funny and personable and he gives so much extra credit that you probably really have to try to fail.

I love Pierre SO much! He is SO helpful, funny, patient, interesting, every positive adjective you can think of. If I could keep getting credit, I would take his class every semester. The only thing he asks is that you be respectful and show up on time, he gives points for attendance. His tests are easy bc he gives you exact material beforehand.

If you're willing to put in the work necessary to learn another language, than there's no better professor to take. I definitely recommend Pierre to new students.

This was my second attempt at learning French and because of Professor Etienne I will continue to add French to my spoken languages. He is very dedicated to his students learning French and it's culture. His life experiences make this a very interesting class and not a "textbook" learning experience. He perks the curiosity of students to learn.

Pierre genuinely cares about his students and wants them ALL to succeed. He is patient and kind and teaches in a really personable way. Bonus, he's hilarious! I would recommend any of his classes and also tell you DO NOT buy the book until you get his email because he can almost always get you a better deal than the bookstore!

This professor is down right amazing. I got tired of learning Spanish and decided to take French with Prof. Etienne, he really makes it so enjoyable that I actually enjoy coming to class. His assignments are easy and his class is alway interesting, I went in not knowing an once of french and left with an A grade. Don't hesitate and take his class!

Great class, great atmosphere! The only thing I noticed is that he uses paper way too much! In a couple weeks I was inundated with so many paper handouts! I found that quite wasteful and unecessary plus he does not use canvas at all. A little technological update would greatly improve this class. Other than that he is a very good Professor!

He's really fun and told us many stories. we had a couple quizzes but all were easy. he is a great teacher!! 1000/10 recommend!

Pierre is "le meilleur absolu" (the absolute best)! Don't be intimidated by the seemingly hard task of speaking at length for French because Pierre will work with you to be your absolute best French-speaking self! Class is always fun if you're participating and contributing to the conversation.
