Great Teacher!
Great guy!
He is a planning prof, not philsophy
My best prof! Makes class interesting!
Fillion makes up for my waste of tuition on Lazariwich's class
Excellent Teacher! I always learn a lot!

An Asset to the Organization...Guaranteed you wil learn with Pierre
He's funny! An awesome Prof. Best ever!
Mr. Filion is the most inspiring professor
Amazing guy, knows his stuff. Has great idears. Great start to planning degree
Great idears, incredibly helpful.
He the man!

Great Prof. Very interesting lectures.
Very easy to understand
My week builds up to this class. He's vaguely funny yet oh so filled with knowledge and complete and utter passion for Planning.
excellent prof, one who actually cares about the students and helps them with his passion of planning
hands down best prof in ES...this guy knows everything off the top of his head and is very apprroachable
He's such a great guy. Extremely intelligent and passionate about planning. But definitely the king of tangents.
GREATEST PROF!! learened sooo much from him... he's a planning prof. not Geography
Great guy, subtly funny, knows his stuff. Grading on the tests can be tough.
EXCELLENT prof, however the TAs are awful and inconsistent in marking... he's also angry about it at least...
Best prof ever, made a long class enjoyable and interesting. Extremely knowledgable.
He sent me a cool little handwritten note congratulating me on my acceptance to planning. I was excited! I heard him the other day on a Hamilton radio station, he sounds smart to me!
Great prof. Extremly helpfull to students and has strong passion for planning and teaching. Sense of humor, and has great idears!!
Excellent prof. he walks his talk. I see him job every morning, he rides his bike to work or takes the public transit. *thumbs up* i love his guy!
This man is a planning god!
soo fun! so energetic and funny. makes boring lectures easy to endure
Knows what he's talking about. Relates course material to many everyday examples. Doesn't like muli-choice, but a lot of writing instead. Go to class, the tests are mostly based on lecture material. Kind of entertaining to watch him trip over stuff during lectures.
Possibly the best prof in the school of planning. He is incredibly passionate about Planning, and cities, and he spreads that passion on to his students. A truly remarkable professor.
Definitly my favourite prof. Cute as a button & so passionate about teaching. He is always helpful & replies to e-mails with enthusiasm. I have never missed one of his classes. He marks hard & note taking is difficult, but his classes are so interesting that it's not hard to remember things.
He is am AMAZING teacher, person and individual. He is funny and brilliant, and you will surely enjoy all his classes. He is incredibly approachable and teaches wonderful classes. You will learn a lot without realizing it.
Filion is awesome... but still, I have to insist I learned nothing in this class. You learn more from PLAN/GEOG 349 than PLAN 233 and PLAN 261 COMBINED. So I guess you can say this class is fun.. but it is still a waster of time. It's too bad...
great prof, but you seriously learn next to nothing relevent. again, smart as hell... just you learn nothing. perfect for the artsie in all of us, those serious about university and academics as a whole should switch out of planning.
Filion is an amazing guy, there is no doubt in that. However, I, like many others learned NOTHING RELEVENT in this class. The material was also braindead, however it is exceedingly difficult to achieve a high mark unless you are an empty headed regurgitator for the TAs. Great for entertainment ONLY (Arts students take note on this one).
The person below speaks the truth. Planning is too little of too much, these classes show that perfectly. Filion is still an intelligent man as well as a very generous instructor and still serves as a favorite prof of mine. It is still exceedingly difficult to do well with such mundane material, yet it is effortless to be MEDIOCRE (70-80%).
Fair professor. Was clear and concise in lectures when it mattered, but was willing to get sidetracked on mutual class interests. The class isn't a breeze, there is work involved - but its not bad so long as you attend lectures and pay attention. Nice introduction to planning history.
The accent does it all

Great Prof!
Talks with his hands a lot. One lecture, he was waving his hands so much that he knocked his glasses off, lol. Good prof though and very into what he teaches.
amazing prof. great lecturer. and funny too. a pleasure to be in the class!
He is very engaging and a really nice guy if you talk to him outside of class. It was my lowest mark of the term but one of my favourite classes. I would recommend taking a class of his simply because he's the one teaching it.
Brilliant, generous, so very interesting...
Solid professor. Love the quebecois accent.
The Quebecois almost made me want to switch in to planning just to take his courses. Amazing, interesting and funny. The tutorials were a bit tedious and boring - but that is because they are student presentations in dimly lit rooms with no windows...The scope of this course is amazing, and the Filion = awesome.
This was my favourite class! I'm not a planning major but Pierre was just so interesting and hilarious. He puts his lectures on podcast which was very helpful for exams.
I found the class to be very interesting. Exams were both five essay questions in which we had to choose three. The questions are based from lectures and the book, which are both very different. He was very interesting and an excellent prof
Awesome prof! Best planning prof at UW
A great professor! Very passionate about the content, made it very interesting and easy for students to understand. A great introduction to planning methods, history, and current issues.
Really cool guy who's actually interested in students' input. Lectures started really exciting, but got more boring as the term progressed.
The best prof! He's very interesting to listen to, lectures well, and he clearly knows alot and loves to teach. It has been 3 years since I've been in his class and I still remember the material he taught. I would even consider doing the graduate planning program at UW in order to have him as a professor again.
He is an amazing professor. Definitely the highlight of my year. Pierre is a down-to-earth kind of grandparent that every body loves. Extremely helpful and he was very sincere. By far, my favourite prof!!!
Really down-to-Earth and fantastic professor! He is extremely cheerful and makes the class laugh. He's funny without trying too hard. He is also really approachable and makes you feel welcome. Even though he records the lectures, I really recommend going to the classes.
Filion embodies what educators should be - passionate beyond belief, excellent communicators, patient, inquisitive, and encouraging. If I ever get the chance to take another one of his classes, I will definitely do it.
"Once I had a American girlfriend... ... I know, everyone made mistakes." Sure it's a two-hour lecture but not the boring one, no assignments just mid-term and final, and a presentation. Ohh and watch out that 15 pages "worth-more-than-final" term paper.
Loved professor
Prof. Filion is an excellent lecturer, and his planning history class was a weekly highlight for me. While he does post podcasts of his lectures online, it's best to attend in order to understand the context fully. Grading consists of a group project, term paper, mid-term, and final. Would definitely take his class again!
Professor Filion is probably one of my favourite teachers I have ever had. He is an amazing speaker and very passionate about planning. He is hilarious and his lectures are super engaging. Attending his lectures are not mandatory and posts the lecture content on LEARN. Over a fairly easy class, not too many assignments or tests. Read the textbook!
Great prof! Really passionate about planning and really good lecturer. Funny too.
You want an example of an amazing prof? This is the guy for you. Filion's inspiring in his love and passion for the subject. He makes himself accessible, gives excellent lectures, and assigns enjoyable assignments that aren't too easy, are manageable, and are very enjoyable if you take on the infectious passion he conveys constantly for learning an
Such a passionate guy! He makes his lectures interesting and inspires students to love the topics. It's best to show up for class since his powerpoints consist of a lot photos and few words, however he does post podcasts on LEARN. He's definitely made me interested in planning. A++++
Professor Filion is so passionate about what he teaches that it is hard not to like him. He is a fantastic lecturer and occasionally goes off on tangents about topics that are so interesting but not related to course material which is good and bad but it keeps things interesting.
Professor Filion is so passionate about what he teaches that it is hard not to like him. He is a fantastic lecturer and occasionally goes off on tangents about topics that are so interesting but not related to course material which is good and bad but it keeps things interesting. Overall, the course is very interesting and consists of crucial info.
Super engaging! Had the privilege of seeing him again in my third year for a workshop and he hasn't lost his wit!
Professor Fillion is so sweet! He is genuinely passionate about the content being taught. Most of his powerpoints are filled with pictures of places that he has personally visited. He also uploads a recording of the lecture, which is great if you have a busy week. But I recommend going to lecture because of Professor Fillion's charisma.
Pierre is an amazing prof for PLAN 100. You'll need to read the textbook for tutorial work and midterms but it's not difficult content. The most interesting and easy stuff is the lectures, which you'll have to go to, but he also posts the audio from them online. Easy to get a good mark.
My guy Dr. Filion is a baller. Easily the best professor I had during first year planning. He is super passionate in class during lecture, in lecture it's evident he knows everything there is to know about planning history. Made class interesting and funny, hope to have him again in the future. If this class isn't mandatory 4 u, take it anyways.
