I've taken this professor twice. Its been a great experience working with him. He is one of the few teachers that enjoys teaching. His tests arent impossible as long as you pay attention in class. He is very lenient and overall cares about everyone! A+
His classes are easy. He takes his time and explains everything. Test are easy if you listen in class.
If teaching is an artform he's doing fingerpaints. He know's his stuff, but he can't keep control of his classes and know how to impart knowledge to his students.
Excellent class. He is passionate about what he teaches and does a good job of it. Very approachable, friendly and encouraging. Turn in your projects, take good notes and pay attention in class - should be a sure A.

this dude has a lot of knowledge, but he can't seem to express it. Has a very awkward accent that I can't understand half of what he's saying. He's easy going, but he made me fall asleep almost all of his classes. BORING!

terrible. he's nice but hard to understand his english. test is long and hard. he says, "this is very important" on EVERYTHING he says. no info. on the exam layout. recommand to take someone else to get a better grade and to learn more.
He is an excellent teacher with a wealth of knowledge. If you apply yourself and take good notes and join in conversation in class you will get a good grade. If you are not interested in business dont take this class. Its not going to be an easy 3 credits.

Oh man!! this professor was the most boring professor EVER. The only thing he motivated me to do was to show up to his class late, leave early or not show up at all. His tests did not concist of anything we went over his lecture... need to say no more.. tip... have a text messaging phone ready!!!

I think he is a nice and helpful teacher. His tests are all multiple choice and true and false and he is fun. You should read the book for the tests. that is a must trust me. but if you like business he informs alot and helps out very much,.

At first i didn't understand anything, but after you get past his accent. He is a great teacher and makes class interesting. I definetly recomend him. Study your quizzes and that's your exam. It's easy to pass his class. The begining is hard,but the rest is so easy.I really enjoyed his class and his examples. I really understand the whole concept.
He's not the worst teacher but I've had really good ones. Class seemed as it was going to be very interesting, pity it wasnt. it's the kind of teacher that goes by numbers, routine and structure. If you learn by heart exactly what the book says you'll do good. Most of his questions are in the quizzes as well. he's a good guy though

Very good teacher, accent is just an excuse people use, he is very clear about the work requred, and on explanation of topics. Just about everyone in the class likes and respects the teacher, which is extremely difficult to achieve. You can tell he is someone who does teaching because he loves it, and that is exactly the type of professor you need.

I took him for business 101, international business, trust funds (finance). He was the most influential teacher I ever had in my life. He is a great person as well as a great teacher. I received A's in every class I took with him.
will try to help you, is accent is a little heavy and he gets kins of nervous when yoyu ask him questions but overall i really enjoyed the class
Really enjoyed this professor with both classes. Makes you focus outside the box with business ideas as well as the day to day struture of the corporate environment. Lectures are not boring, he pulls you in the fold of the lecture with Q and A's as well as demostrative examples Always available to help you if need be and has a great smile to boot.
NO GOOD!! Very hard to understand, he will not give you review sheets nor review prior the tests. If you ask for help he'll give you the run around, but if U R a gool looking girl he'll help you He will not stay after class for extra help because he wants to get out right away to beat the traffic. At least that is what he said to me. Dont take him
This Prof SUCKS!! His tests I realluy don't know where he got them from, but he didn't get them from his lecture. Very hard to understand his accent. He shouldn't be teaching at a College level he is very hard to understand.
his accent can be a bit difficult to understand at times but he is aware and won't mind if you ask him to clarify. this man is extremely intelligent and an excellent teacher. i went in with an interest in bus. and came out with more than i paid for. he seems to generally care about each student passing and comprehending the course.
I didnt understand his way to explain some lectures during class at all, because of his accent. But, What he make a big emphasis on is Three Tests. Actually, He didnt review us anything for these tests, just tell us to read the whole chapters related to each Test. He has hardly given us any homework, so U can concentrate on only Three Big Tests.
I loved him, thought he was very interesting, and I liked to listen to his lectures. The tests can be difficult, but try studying, it helps. His accent is not that bad it's just an excuse for those who probably didn't do well in his class. I loved him, got an A!
Didnt like the way he taught this class In the middle of the class his phone will ring & he will answer it He's very hard to understand His tests R nothing like his lecture He says he teaches only what you'll need in the future He boasts on being some hot shot and that he could make millions… I would not waste my money and time by taking his class
Teacher was somewhat difficult to understand, you have to sit there and comprehend what the teacher is saying before you understand what you are doing. Not too much textbook use and no review before test so it was difficult to figure out what to study for.
Prof.Laguerre is one of the best professors that works at Bergen, and is extremely good. I never had issues understanding him, and everything taught was useful. If you are looking for an easy grade, you shouldnt be taking finance courses. I currently have my own hedge fund and steak in a media company, thankfully to Laguerre for motivation.
He's a really good guy, that loves talking about business. Like anything else in life, you get what you put in.

Very good prof. enjoyed taking his class. He expects one to know accounting. And he will also help one understand accounting uses balance sheet etc... Real life teaching and he helps one understand the confusion in book. Lecture then practical experience in class on lecture.

this prof is not that hard to get an A. Make sure you read all the textbook materials required and you should be able to get 90+ on tests. classes are not that informative, so make sure you read the textbook. don't forget to participate in the class, he gives you good grade curve if you are on his good side. got 94average for the semester

prof.laguerre is the best and he knows a lot. he cares about his students.study the book for his exam you'll do fine.

Prof. is smart but can not teach. Is extremly not approachable. You can not ask questions and if you do, then you will be more confused after his answer. I put a lot of effort and didn't learn even half of all my work. He is rude and does not care for his students in general. I would never take another class with him.
he is very intelligent and capable. There is a lot you can learn from him. His teaching method isn't the best in the world but his exams are very easy so long as you do some basic reading (read chapter summaries) and actively pay attention. You NEED to pay attention in class though.
Speeds through the material like you know what he's talking about. Most of the people in the class are lost and confused. Knowledgable but doesn't know how to pass that on to his students. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CLASS.

I think he is pretty good. Very knowledgeable but you really have to read and pay attention in his class. I got an A because i worked very hard. I personally recommend him, he is one of the best professor at BCC in my own opinion.
If you're genuinely interested in the subject, he is a great teacher. He's accomplished a lot in his career and 30% of the class is real word info you cant find in a textbook. Reasonable tests; study textbook definitions, pay attention, take notes and you'll be fine

This prof is a cool guy but that doesn't mean he's a good prof. His lectures are awful and his tests are not the same as the lecture which sucks for students. You gotta read which isn't too bad. Bottom line: if you want to learn don't take him, but if you need the class then read a lot cause he is lazy and he doesn't care about student sucess

Great Professor. If you really want to learn, take his class. His lectures are really interesting. 4 tests. give extra credit. The subject is hard, but if you read and pay attention and do the handouts you do fine.
This guy is the man! He has so much experience as a finance professional, especially from working on Wall Street. He is very caring for students and wants us to do well. He is no joke when it comes to learning-he wants to prepare us in the classroom so that we don't make mistakes in the real world. Overall a great class taught by a great professor!
I took him for Bus101, it was good class he explained the material well. the test were easy if you paid attention in class. gave close to 30 points in extra credit over the semester. Uses real life examples. Overall Great Experience
Harsh grader who gives a lecture each class that won't help you on the actual test. If you want to Pass this class then you need to read the entire book no point of going to class to learn.
you can appraoch him but you wont get much feedback, seems like he wants to teach but cant has a thick accent hard to understand that's why you won't get much feedback from him

Professor Laguerre was an amazing professor. He does not only care about the book and teaches you a lot about real life situations which is not taught a lot in colleges. His exams though are straight out of the book but easy multiple choice about 50. I highly recommend him but if you want to succeed you have to study. Easy to get an A .
ethics test, 50 questions on what would you do in this scenario, graded entirely on what he would do in the said scenario. The whole class took a hit when these grades were given back. He does not budge on anything. He will not help you if you need it. Even if you're a great student, in his own words, he "doesn't care."
He goes over the topic on power points but none of it will be on the exam, study the text book, all the vocab, and what you would do in business scenario that he makes up for you to figure out. No accurate test review. PS. four exam is worth 96% of the grade. NO thank you.
Amazing teacher
Class lectures are so useless, he teaches absolutely nothing. He opens a power point with bullet points and just reads them. If you are better teaching yourself this class is for you. Four major tests make up 96% of the grade, all in the book. Learned absolutely nothing from him.
READ, REST, REPEAT OR YOU WILL FAIL. Awesome professor, very intellectual, knows a lot about a lot but make sure you read from the book just as much as you study the notes from lecture that is you BETTER BE taking notes. overall, great dude, funny but blunt.
He does not prepare you at all for his quizzes no matter how much you study the PowerPoint and book. Majority of the questions are very broad, vague and never even mentioned in the chapter.
Awful!! Even when studying the material from the textbook and information given in class, the exams never correlate to the criteria taught !! Questions are more based on what would you do instead of actual questions pertaining to the course. Dont take him ! Mostly everyone fails his exams
The worse business professor in Bergen county college. Pierre is horrible! He tests you on things that are never covered, thinks hes this big shot but really not all that. I do not recommend taking any classes with this man. He shouldnt even be teaching at the college. The college should fire him and replace him with someone who knows material
Online summer session class, grade is comprised primarily of your grades on 9 out of 11 tests given, 2 written assignments, plus a few discussion posts. The tests were incredibly specific to the textbook, you could not pass a test by googling answers, you could only find it by reading the chapter for the chapter test. Easy, but you need a textbook.
By reading the introduction letter, you can feel from the get-go that he is set in his way working or not. He does not have the decency to reply to emails. The lessons are PDF, no textbook. To me, the tests questions were most of the time not mentioned in the PDF which was very frustrating. I worked everyday about 2-3 hours to get a D.
He doesn't teach anything just gives us tests every week. and the test has only 30 min for 30 questions. it's not enough to answer questions. He doesn't respond to your email. AWFUL professor at bcc!
What an AWFUL PROFESSOR! Doesn't respond to any emails. (The class is online due to COVID) I would probably freak out if I had to see him on weekly basis and never get a response from the guy. There is a 30 question quiz which is timed @ 30 min. The questions are not even based on the Powerpoints...I'm busting my butt to get terrible grades :(
He doesn't have online lectures but gives us many difficult tests. There are chapter tests every single week, and 30 minutes to answer 30 questions. more than 7 students complained to him that 1 min for each question is not enough to read whole questions and think about answers, but he rejected our concerns. he grades by tests and assignments. rude

Honestly, this professor was okay, I am not going to say that he was one of my favorites. There were tests each week but If you take notes throughout the chapters and put the time aside to do the work you will be okay. The projects though certainly matter more than the tests especially the credit report as it is a project that can help you out
There are wkly quizzes, 30min. for 30 Q's. If you don't know the material like the back of your hand you will not pass the quiz as you do not have time to read the Q's just by glancing at them you should know what the a's are you don't get any redo or makeups. If your taking him for Marketing drop it, Marketing should be exciting and fun! and Professor LaGuerre is not that. very unreasonable quizzes every week and not sliding grading. 30min for 30 questions. RUN! He does not care about the students, your just a paycheck to him of his many in multiple classes. He really should not interact with others.
He is not understanding, I am a single mother of two and asked for an extension on a project a week in advance due to a work event that was interfering with my due date. He simply said "I do not accept late assignments" when I asked. This is the type of professor that deters people from trying to go to college to better themselves while working.
A professor who is not understanding of situations. I had an issue, he told me to just submit assignments and did not bother to understand my situation. I had a serious emergency and he did not bother to care about me. This is the type of professor you avoid at all costs. Do not register for any of his sections because he is a terrible human being
I am confused with the bad reviews for Dr. Laguerre. I took his BNF201 course asynchronous and it was a joy, VERY organized & straight to the point. Weekly quizzes and about every other week they are accompanied by a simple discussion forum...there are also 2 projects. Entire class is organized and out of the textbook! He is very understanding too!
He was an okay professor. Each week you have 30mins to finish a 30 min quiz. Very complicated but if you know how to work your way through the quizzes, you should be fine. You also have two case studies, they are the easiest. He also drops the two lowest quizzes. Good luck!
boooo nothing memorable about his class He doesn't respond to emails/canvas messages and has the audacity to say, "If your computer possibly explodes," to call his work phone. Tests every week, and you're given 30 mins to complete 30 questions, which is not enough time.
The professor was just cashing in on this course. Absolutely no responses to multiple questions asked by myself and classmates via email and the course question modules. Lectures narrated by a robot and it is ridiculous to have 30 minutes to answer 30 question tests each week when some of the questions require calculations and advanced thinking.
Not engaged. Will not answer if you try to communicate unless he feels like his job is on the line.
Professor LaGuerre's class is tough - weekly 30-min quizzes with 30 questions make it a real grind. But with help from unstuck study and the textbook, you can make it through. Just be prepared to put in the work.
