Very best prof I've had, ever! I don't like lectures, but this Dude knows his stuff & knows how to get you into it. But he demands tons of work & you got to be ready for tough questions asked in class. Hard to get an A, but will really learn lots.
The best prof I have had & I've been at 4 universities & have seen much, way too much! Lectures, filled with ideas, concepts, theories and lots of good stories about high and low. Hard grader, but if u are inetersed in history, this is the guy to take.
I found Professor Lorenzini to be difficult to approach- unlike the rest of my professor's at ECC- however, I will say that I learned a lot! Definitely hard to get a good grade though- make sure you ask him questions and clarifications on his syllabus.
One of the very best professors I have had and I have ahd teachers at many universities. He has a deep knowledge of the subject and when he lectures he brings in many insights which are made more insightful by his dry humor.
An incredible professor! Just a wonder to hear his lectures. Truly knows an enormous amout of material. He weaves history, law, current events and philospohy into his history classes. Though a difficult grader, taking his course is a delight for you'll learn US history while beening entertained by h
I learned more from Dr Lorenzini than from any other professor in my college career. He is a terrific teacher. He made a very difficult subject a pleasure to learn. Kudos to him and to the college for such a fine teacher and scholar.
A very difficult class. BUT worth all the effort! I learned a great deal not the least of which was that history means something to us today AND l;earning it can be intellectualy stimulating and enjoyable too.
He is a good instructor. Do your work and hand it in on time and you'll be fine.
Great teacher, made a difficult subject (for me cause I'm a science major) interesting because he presented a complete picture of what the past was like and what it means today. Also very helpful with the assigned research paper.
Well worth taking. Great professor, knows his subject and how to teach it as well, whihc is a welcome change from most university classes I've had.
This prof is great! Knows the subject backwords and forwards. He's very helpful with non-majors too. I wish I could take him for all my classes, but U of I will only accept a limited number outside my major. Dr Lorenzini is a definite "10", do take him if you wish to know the subject well.
What a terrific teacher! Dr. Lorenzini not only knows his subject backwords and forwards, but he knows how to make it interesting. He is the best teacher at this college, period.
Best instructor I ever had at any college or university! His classes were hard but very interesting.
Terrific teacher, one who reaaly knows his stuff and how to teach too. HIs lectures are real clear and he's very helpful. For me, Dr. Lorenzini is the tops. But, be careful, his tests are real tough. And he has you write a long and dificult research paper on top of it all. Still I'd take him again.
Terrific teache! A perfec balance of scholarship and teaching abilities. Rates an "A" from me.
A thought Dr. Lorenzini was one of the best teachers I've ever had in all the many colleges and universities I have attended. I am an older student who can appreciate the wonderful teaching skills of Professor Lorenzini. I only wish I had taken him long ago.
A first rate teacher. If you'd love to learn history take him, but expect to work very hard. Elgin is lucky ot have him and so are the studdents who have taken him.
By far the best history professor I have had. He made it tough but interesting. Dr. Lorenzini gets an A from me!
The best prof at Elgin College! I loved the way he taught. Though he has a definite point of view, what makes him the best is that he will force everyone to participate and to defend or reject their claims or interpretations of events. Do take him if you want to learn. Don not take him if you want to coast into an easy grade.
I always had a tough time with history. But professor Lorenzini made the class both intellectally interesting and stimulating. He forces you to think about the past and it's relationship to our daily lives. If you need a history credit or just want to learn, take Lorenzini. But be prepared to work, cause he won't let you just sit and listen,
Best class I have had. Dr. Lorenzini is very tough, but fair. He covers all point of view and forces everyone to think and write and write.
Didn't help very much if you had a question, but he was clear when he taught. and funny. lots of pointless****.
Didn't help anyone, just expected things to happen. Liberals never defended anything in the class, so I had nobody to go up against. He was lame, boring, and talked talked talked.
I took him during the summer. Awesome

Vey best prof at Elgin college. He forces everyone to think about how history impacts lives today. But a bit to much info on historian's interpretations of history, but all in all a his class was a terrific experience.
Dr Lorenzini is by far the best teacher at this college. His knowledge of the subject is, well, unbelievable. Also, he was always willing to all students. I should know b/c I couldn't get much of thwe reading down and he was always ready to help. You want to learn, take this dude.
He's OK I guess but he's not what I expected. So I wouldn't take him again.
Good teacher, but really mean to me for no apperant reason. I don't get it. I was one of the better students in his class too..
hes the bomb hes so funny and so easy but show up for class ans do the small amount of work he gives you and he only gives 2 tests hes awesome
Hard grader but simply the best teacher I have had at Elgin College.
I learned more from Dr. Lorenzini than from anyother professor in my college experience. He is demanding but fair.
Hard grader but good teacher overall.
Intellectually stimulating, knows his stuff backwards and forwards, great lectures and simpathetic to students needs. Get an A plus, plus from me.
This class was very easy. There's a midterm and a final, a journal, and a term paper. As long as you pay attention in class and participate in debates, the class is easy.
It was a good class....I would take him again. He's real straight forward.
Got to be the best teacher I've had in college, by far. Real demanding, but his terrific lectures and direction made his class a learning paradise. If you are a PolySci, law, philosophy or history major, you got to take Dr. Lorenzini. Just awesome!
I learned about modern Latin American history from Professor Lorenzini and I learned more than I thought possible. He made the class interesting and required us to interconnect historical events of the past with present issues. Great class, great teacher.
Had Lorenzini for a couple of classes. He is terrific! Knows his stuff and makes you question all before you come to a conclusion. Great learning indeed. Also, he's more than pleasant to look at too.
This class was such a blowoff class...but so amusing I must say. He told the funniest and weirdest stories ever. There was little political science taught but nobody really cared. It was a pretty fun class. Theres only a midterm final and journal. I recommend him, hes cool. Oh yeah, dont admit ur political views unless ur a liberal.
Great class, great professor, worth every minute of the hard study demanded!
Dr. Lorenzini is by far the very best teacher I have had in college. His knowledge is complete. He is a dynamic lecturer. While Prof Lorenzini is very demanding, he is always ready to help students if they show interest. His lectures are filled with both deep insights and humor. Dr. Lorenzini is the very BEST.
I had Dr. Lorenzini for a number of classes. I found his lectures deeply profound and interesting. Now, as a UCLA student, I can only thank goodness that I had Lorenzini's classes. They prepared me well and, frankly, they were often more complete than those I am getting here! Wish I could go back to Illinois and take him one more semester!
Has Lorenzini for European history. Prof has impressive command of the subject and is a terrific lecturer. Great class!
Lorenzini is great. Lectures filled with knowledge and humor. Lot's of work, but learned more than I imagined I could. Gets an A from me!
One of the very best Profs I've had. Made me interested in the subject and how it relates to our present world. Get's an A from me.
Dr. Lorenzini is by far the best prof I've every had. I am a biology major and didn't think Political Science could be challenging or interesting. Well, Dr. Lorenzini made it both. Tough class but insighful!
Lots of required reading and writing. Best is he allows for time for students' views and lectures are complete. He'd cover all the materials by end of class. But some readings were too detailed for undergrads. Still a very good class.
Professor Lorenzini made the class interesting and informative. He knows his subject and can get even the most disinterested to sit up and take notice. Lorenzini is a must for undergrads interested in political science and history.
Great class with a classy prof. He is an absolute gotta have for all social science and humanities majors. Plus, as a practicing attorney with a PhD, his views concerning law and how it plays into our lives are a must!
Lots of work but loved the professor's teaching style. Great class.
A really good class. The teacher knows his stuff and also how to teach.
This was a great class and Lorenzini is a terrific professor. Take him if you want to study history or even if you just are loooking for an elective. You will be glad you did!
I realy enjoyed his class. I learned lots and was never bored, which I normally am with histroy stuff. Take Lorenzini b/c he is great!
I reaaly like Dr. Lorenzini as a teacher. He made me think about history in a way I never did before and that's a pretty good since I used to realy dislike this subject above all others. Good class and great teacher. Take him for history even if you don't like the subject. He makes it worth it. Believe me!
This class is a great experience. The instructor is super and the subject is very interesting.
This is the best class ever! Professor Lorenzini makes it interesting and important to understanding just what history is and is not.
OUTSTANDING professor. Loved each class. Great stories, obvious passion for the subject. I highly recommend him!!!!!!
Great teacher. He's really good, doesn't assign alot of work and is really flexible. His classes seem pretty unstructured, so if you like alot of structure he won't be a great professor for you, but if you like flexibilty you got it.
His profound understanding and skill in teaching make Dr. Lorenzini among the best of the best. Anybody wanting to study at the highest intellectual level must take Dr. Lorenzini!
This is the best class I've had all year! This professor makes a difficult class a pleasure to attend. Normally I would never like such a dry subject but taking this class made me re-think about where we are today and where we were before as a people.
This was a fun class and I learned lots as well. Lorenzini is very helpful, knows his stuff and, wow, what I'd like to do with him after class can't be told here. If you need a history credit, you must take him!
This had to be the best learning experience I've had at this college. Dr Lorenzini is learned and very helpful too. Although he is a lecturing prof (which I don't care for), he always found ways to involve us. Though I am very conservative, he was always willing to listen my point of view and always brought in the views of various scholars.
Great class, terrfic teacher, wonderful experence. Take Lorenzini, he will challenge your mind every day!
Among the very best professors I've had. Take him if you want to be challenged to do your best.
No doubt about it, Professor Lorenzini is the best of the best. His class was challenging and rewarding. He's a definite gotta have!
I found the class stimulating and the professor was very prepared and very fair.
The best thing about this class was the teacher. He's smart, has a great sense of humor and his lectures are always interesting. I never wanted to miss his class!
Everyone says that Dr Lorenzini is hard and his tests are tough, but if you take him make certain to go to all the lectures. His tests come from them plus the reading. If you do that it won't be so hard to do well and his lectures are worth it because he knows his subject backwards and forwards and he's a great speaker.
As long as you study the study guide he gives out, you will be fine. He is a lawyer and fascilitates a great class discussion. It was extremely interesting and you will definitely learn something and have a good time learing it in this class. Very good instructor.
The class POS 150 is a hard class for a freshman level class. You have to complete a quiz, a midterm, a final, a research paper, & journal articles. I got a B in the class. Be sure to attend all class sessions.
Professor is somewhat sensitive to criticism. But I am wondering if this scholar could recommend a book on the dissimulations of Secretary Alexander M. Haig.
Telecourse is pretty easy. Four tests one of which is an essay test. It is a lot of subject to cover for a summer semester but it can be done.
I took the first test, but when the grades were posted, my grade was much lower than expected. I emailed him asking to go over my test with me (in case he had accidentally posted the wrong grade, which happened to my friend, or to learn from my mistakes). He responded with a snide email simply saying that he did not "go over" tests. Ever.
This was a real interesting class. The professor is very intelligent, thoughtful and he was very concerned with students learning.
he's such a stud, seriously. he has a worldly handsomeness about him... but anyway. His final is basically the same as the midterm. do all your work and SHOW UP that's the only way you'll get the announcements. He speaks quietly (but with a lot of character) so listen up! good class great discussions!
By far, this is the best class I've taken at this college. The teacher is super smart, a great lecturer and very worldly and sophisticated! But you gotta go to class and take lots of notes b/c most of the exam stuff is from lecture notes! And oh ya, he's real easy on the eyes too!
Overall class was pretty easy if you show up and take notes. Dr. Lorenzini constantly walked into class 20+ minutes late. He seemed like he did not really care. He would rarely have a slide or his own notes, most of the note taking was from lectures. I'm a confident writer so the final paper and final essay were easy for me.
Telecourse- tests are harder than I expected, but not too bad. Make sure you buy the study guide book and use that. (hint: test questions come straight from that book)
the best class I ever take. teacher is super smart and makes class really fun. my advice: attend all classes and you will be fine at the exam.
man, lorezini is an awesome professor. We just went over laws, government, and the constitution. Reminded me of the material I learned from my high school civics class, so if you're an incoming freshman, take this class because you should still know some of the material from high school. He would let us out early if we didn't have any questions.
Took HIS 101, 102 Telecourse, and His 160 and POS 150 all with Lorenzini. Telecourse tests are easy if you watch the online lectures. Traditional classes are lecture based with grades coming from a paper a journal and 2 or 3 multiple choice tests. Lorenzini explains in depth what you will be tested on. Very much enjoyed all 4 classes. Recommended.
The best professor I've had at ECC or at Univ of Illinois. I took Lorenzini for 4 classes. He always showed that he was most concerned with student success. No matter the students interest or abilities he treated us all with respect and demanded we work. When I needed help he spent lots of out of class time explaining what needed to be learned!
Great teacher all around. If you're looking for an easy A then don't take his class but if you want to learn I would highly recommend it.
Very cool teacher, laid back, highly reccommend!
Lorenzini's Criminology class confirmed my love for Criminal Justice. He is a great teacher! He knowledge of the field is impressive. He is a tough grader but always fair & available if you needed direction & even if you wanted to challenge something in the book. I'm in my last year & I wish I could stay just to take more classes from him.
Great class! Learned to the max from a very professional and helpful teacher
Lorenzini is really a great professor that makes class interesting. However, I found the first test to be challenging even if you take notes and attend all class periods. I recommend him, but it's not really a class you can study for and have and be certain you'll get an A.
The most laid back, chill, brilliant professor I've ever met. He makes the most interesting man in the world look like a sissy.
Lorenzini is the chillest professor ever. He once paid me ten dollars to sing "the battle of New Orleans to the class." His lectures are very fascinating. Although he constantly strolls into class 15 minutes late, he is a great teacher.
Professor Lorenzini surely knows his material and is a very highly educated teacher. He doesn't assign homework regularly but only requires a term paper, 8 journals, and a take home quiz at the end of the term. If you attend class daily and take notes then you are surely to pass the class. If i can do it so can you!
He is one of the weirdest professors I have ever had, but one of the best. Very helpful and informational, great if you are majoring in history. Also very funny and chill, as long as you go to class and pay attention you will get an A. Also must have a sense of humor and sarcasm
Dr. Lorensini is one of the BEST teachers I ever had. He makes class fun and I really learnd a lot.
Great teacher. Took class fall 2012 and learned quite a bit. Encourages students to speak their minds & give opinions which is refreshing. Would definitely recommend taking his class to anyone
He is SO much fun and SUPER easy!! He made this my favorite class. He's chill about attendance but if you want a good grade I suggest going to class and paying attention to what he says. It may sound like some random story, but that random story matters and will help you on the test. I want to take him again and recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Lorenzini was awesome! i totally loved him and found him SUPER hilarious. he was usually late probably because he stopped for coffee. A lot of students hated his rambling stories, but there's definitely a method to his madness! ever story pertained to something on his tests. overall, easy and to the point. i definitely learned from him!
Terrific class and great teacher! I didn't expect to like the class but Dr. Lorenzini made it the best college class I've had so far! He turned me into a lover of history not only because his lectures were inspiring but because he made us all think and not simply believe what we read or have been told.
He was my all time favorite teacher at ECC. He knows what he is talking about, and is a very educated man. He is also funny, and very approachable which is great. I recommend him to anyone that wants to take a history class. Come, take notes and you will surely pass the class!
I really liked him as a teacher. He gives you all your homework at the beginning of the semester and tells you it's due at the end of the semester. He does just sit at the front of the room and lecture without any visuals, so if you're a visual learner don't take him. Other than that he's a good teacher.
