First time teacher as of second summer 06. Nice teacher and course was an easy A. would recommend.
Overall good teacher. She is new to teaching and sometimes it shows. Easy class if you do the assignments. Test are directly from the notes/book. She has a good personality and is willing to help. Cuts class early most of the time. A must take for Health!
Easy and fun class! You don't need the textbook to study with, but it is used for other assignments. The class is common sense anyways so as long as you sit there and listen and do the assignments, and attendance is a must, and you don't really have to study and you have an easy A!
She's great! Has a very dry sense of humor that is totally hilarious. Will work with you if you need it. Plenty of extra credit, attendance is required but oftentimes she will only keep you in class for 20-30 minutes. You can't tell she's new and she is very organized. Keeps you up to date with your grade. Would highly recommend.
I love her! 5 quizes, no comp. final 4 paper assignments that only have to be 2-3 pages (EASY) and her quizes are a piece of cake! Attendance is required and take all of the notes. She says the quiz covers book material but I haven't read anything and I've made an A on every quiz. Pretty easy A take notes, do assignms, go to class, get an A.
This lady is such a rude and obnoxious yankee. Her class is extremely easy buy her grading criteria is not clear and she WILL take off points for stuff she never told you to do. Watch out if your grade is close. She thinks she is Gods gift to the world and that she knows EVERYTHING, seriously I have never had such an annoying professor
Awesome teacher and the class is super easy!!! She gives a lot of extra credit and the material is easy stuff that everyone should already know!
Overall it was an easy class but her quizzes had some tough worded questions which could get confusing. attendence is required and she's strict on it, lots of extra credit if you want to do the work.
I can't say enough good things about Zuber. She's a great teacher, very helpful, and funny! She can be strict about certain things, but nothing that's unnecessary. Pay attention and take notes!
takes the class a bit too seriously, but keeps it interesting and fun. if you timid about sex, don't take the class.
She gives extra credit, but it is a ridiculous amount of work and not worth it. She had hard tests, I thought, and she doesn't curve. I probably got an A though.
Lot of work. However, if you do decent on the multiple choice tests, do all 4 papers, go to class, and do the LBST assessment, you might possibly squeeze a B out without buying the text book. Its a lot of work for being a non-major elective though, especially when taking 18hrs...if i could do it again, i'd take someone else
Textbook use is a must. Mandatory attendance. As long as you take notes and do the work, it will be an easy A. I didn't think the tests were hard, i studied for about an hour before the test. Class was interesting, take her for the lbst class!!
Monotone voice and is very sarcastic, which is annoying. She's self centered and speaks about herself too much when attempting to "relate" to material taught. Semi hard tests/quizzes. She assigns stupid assignments/activities that are a must in order to pass. She wasn't too horrible, but I wouldn't take her again.
I really like her! I like her sarcastic tone- it is funny! The class is a little harder than I expected and you have to work hard. That's life.
attendance mandatory...boring lectures...but pretty easy class...tests are fairly easy...assignments are reasonable and do not require much attention...DONT BUY BOOK...take if u want...
Knows subject well. Provides clear directions and will gladly answer questions. Is fair and expects students to make an effort on all assignments and be respectful of her and their classmates. Follows syllabus and makes the class interesting and fun. Attendance is important. Powerpoint lecture slides are helpful for studying. Great class!
The most boring class EVER! Attendence is pretty much mandatory, but completely useless because she basically reads word for word from the slides she gives you prior to class. Great class if you want an easy A though.
Don't buy the book, test material comes straight from her powerpoints which she posts on blackboard. Easy extra credit is available. Two papers to write but they're both easy. She's strict on texting and going on the Internet when she's lecturing, so beware she will call you out on it! Lectures can get boring. Overall an easy class!
Pilar was awesome. In all seriousness I would never take this class but it was part of the gen. ed. requirements. And by no means would I say that her classes are hard. To be honest some of the stuff that she teaches can be boring but she tries to make it as enjoyable as possible. If you do all the work that she gives, there's no way you can't pass.
She is so sarcastic and funny. Really interesting class based discussions. Easy assignments to make sure that you comprehend the material. I would definitely reccommend her class, but it doeshas mandatory attendance.
Worst professor. She was NOT clear about what she wanted when assigning assignments. You will write many essays and it's not even a writing intensive course! She assigned an 8 page essay that was due finals week, that was a totally pointless paper. And she's not even nice!
Overall this is a very easy course. Pilar gives you tons of busy work useless essays that are a pain in the butt. Her dry sarcasm keeps a little humor in the class. Easy class, clicker attendance mandatory.
She is very sarcastic and is not exactly willing to help. She makes large lectures humerous. Small lectures are a compilation of awkward forced group work. However, the work is easy and there are no tests. Come to class and do the work and you'll get a good grade.
She makes large lectures entertaining with sarcasm and jokes. Small groups have easy assignments and a few projects. Good class, pretty easy.
Absolutely loved Dr. Zuber. She is an amazing teacher and makes her class fun. She kept her sense of humor even when she was nine months pregnant and had to stand during a three hour class. She is always willing to help and makes students feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and will take her again if given the opportunity!
Does clicker questions so you should read and attend class. Makes a lot of sarcastic jokes that makes the class less boring. Do not get caught on any electronics in her class because she WILL kick you out.
Great teacher with a good sense of humor. Its an easy class if you do the work on time and show up. I would recommend her class to anyone. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class.
She is an excellent professor with a funny/sarcastic attitude. She knows her stuff. The lectures are boring, and the small group TA's are very annoying and dumb. But the class is an easy A. Attendance not mandatory, but clicker questions everyday that count as a grade. Just do the online readings and go to class. You'll get an A.
Her class is not difficult. The only way u will fail is if you don't show up for class for clicker questions & the writings are easy. She's a funny lady & knows her stuff. TA's play a big role in this course since it's a huge class. Groups aren't bad & my TA was very good. She hates electronics in class & will kick you out! She's on a role w/ that!
She does have a dry sense of humor. But is really kind if you talk to her one on one. No exams but you do different type of assignments instead. I wish I could retake the class
She is such a nice teacher and she is pretty down to earth. She loves her students and she is very intelligent
She is fun when we are in large lecture but there is assigned reading between every class and clicker questions that go with it and they brought my grade down a lot. Papers are graded a little harsh, but it still is pretty easy!
Not clear on subject matter at all. She spends plenty of time talking about nonsense and then throws clicker questions up that have not been answered at all. She has 4-5 minions that stalk the room looking for folks that are texting. The minions take over for small groups and they are even worse then the professor. No clarity ridiculous grading .
Overall a really good teacher. The papers are easy, she basically tells you what to write in the grading rubrics she provides. There are no exams, but two group projects that determine the majority of your grade. The thing that brought my grade down the most were the module assignments, which could be pretty hard, but that was it.
There are no tests in the course, but clickers are used daily for participation points. This class is the epitome of an easy A. There are no tests. The midterm is a presentation and the final is a debate. Dr. Zuber teaches the class 12 of the time, and for the other half there is a TA. Hope you have a good TA because they grade your assignments
This class is super easy. YOU MUST GO TO CLASS. You will get into small groups and go over powerpoints every single day. There are no tests. The midterm and final are projects that are super easy and in groups. You have to read before each class but its no more than 20 minutes if you focus. This is a great class to take for an easy A.
Your midterm is a group presentation. your final is a group "debate". YOU MUST SHOW UP TO CLASS TO GET CLICKER QUESTIONQUIZ CREDIT! Your only real work are papers that she pretty much tells you how to write (follow the rubric exactly).
Dr. Z is a GREAT teacher. She's very engaging and I love her dry humor. Attendance is mandatory and if you're caught not paying attention, she'll ask you in front of everyone to leave. Overall a great class; I learned a lot and I am taking another of Dr. Z's classes in the fall. Your final is a group project. Buy the textbook and take notes!!!
The class is divided into small and large lecture. Small lectures are run by a TA. Clicker questions every class which counts as your attendance. No tests but a couple short essays. Midterm and Final are a debate. Easy class as long as you do the readings before class.
She is very monotoned so if you aren't interested in the subject you maybe fighting back sleep. At the beggining it seems like you have a lot of work but after the first month or so you have 3 short papers a mid term group project which will be your final. The midterm and the final are pretty much the same thing. All work is easy.
Class was easy for the most part, expect to have reading assignments that are very essential to the next class topic. CLICKERS are a must!!! If you want to pass come to every class! try not to miss too many your grade will reflect that. The quizzes are done on clickers and its pretty hard.
Easy class, but she has very little enthusiasm about anything, and comes off really rude. Don't miss anything cause she's not big on second chances. do good on the quizzes and the assignments and youre good
She takes forever to grade assignments, how can anyone know where they stand in the class when she takes 2 to 3 weeks to grade assignments. Beware that there are only 3 exams leaving the final to account for 30% of your grade, & it is cumulative. So if you average A, the pressure of this exam can easily drop your average to a B or very high C.
Mostly taught by teacher assistants. Clicker questions every day, not hard but you must read every night before class. The readings are not hard, but clicker questions could be tricky. There are module assignments that require some time to complete, but there is plenty of time to do them. Allows opportunity for 6 points to be added to your grade.
Good professor. This class is easy if you stay on top of the few assignments you have. You can skim through the pre-class readings and still do well. Fairly easy A
Dr. Zuber is a fun and hilarious professor! Health and Quality of Life ties in big with what I want to do in life, and she made it even more interesting. If you're a student who just wants to stay on your phone and not listen, this is not the professor for you, cuz she'll kick you out. My TA was sub-par, but Zuber made up for it.
Dr. Zuber has crude humor and is very blunt but she knows her stuff. The class is divided into 5 small groups with a TA in another classroom so you'll only see Zuber once every two weeks. Never gives tests but you will have group projects, clicker quizzes, extra credit, and the midterm and final are debates. Easy A if you put in work.
Dr. Zuber comes off as intimidating but she's very helpful. There aren't any test but there are clicker questions that can bring your grade down if you don't read for them. The TA's are alright depending on who you get. There isn't an actual midterm or final exam but you do have to do a group project in place of those.
Few papers, no actual tests. We had a semester long group debate project.
Very easy class. Notes are unnecessary as you will actually never use again them once you see them. Very boring lectures but there are clicker questions from reading every class. Show up and do clickers and you'll pass.
Really easy class. Go to class, participate and do your assignments. You will easily get an A or B. The grading and rubric scales are really straight forward so there's no reason you should miss an assignment. She is strict about using technology in her class other than clickers. Interesting class to learn about healthcare
One of Uncc Finest. Easy B or A if you show up and put in the work.
Had at least 3 or 4 readings about nonsense due before each class to answer trick clicker questions. She may be the head of a department here but do realize she has zero tolerance for someone taking her LBST course because it is a requirement for majors with real jobs not socialist healthcare policy rambling.
As long as you attend every class, do the reading, and bring your clicker you'll be fine. There are large lecture groups (150+ people) and smaller lecture groups (around 30 people).
Zuber is so monotoned and acts like an english professor. She focuses more on in-text citations than what you are actually writing about. My small group TA was super nice and got the class involved. Just go to class, do clicker questions, and write your papers. Lots of group work and presentations. Work hard and you'll get an A.
Dr. Zuber is awesome. She is very straightforward, but also has an odd sense of humor. The class seems overwhelming at first, but after the first few weeks it was super manageable! She also requires every student meet with her at least once which is a great opportunity to ask questions!
Dr. Zuber is very knowledgable and funny, but she in some ways takes herself too seriously. I've sent her emails (double triple checked the syllabus for the wording and format for the email) and still will not get a response. The class is not easy but if you read, take good notes, and review everything on Canvas you will be ready for tests.
This class has a lot of reading. It's also split very strangely where the whole class is divided into one TA small discussion group
Clicker questions based on Articles read before coming to class. Participation counts as a significant portion of the grade.
Just make sure you go to class because there are clicker questions. There are no test just quizzes on the clicker and the final exam is a group debate. There are a lot of papers but she tells what to write about. all in all her class is fairly easy. P.S. Do the wellness passport for extra credit.
ABSOLUTELY NO ELECTRONICS DEVICES! You will be kicked out. Review the notes before and after class and know the material because she will expect you to say it out loud the next class period. If she asks any question to the class, participate she hates a class who doesn't know the material. Overall she's a genuine person, get to know her OFFICE HRS
She really knows her stuff and she really is passionate about getting the information out there. Wants you to do well in the class but makes you work for it. Would 100% take again
For a one credit class, we had a lot of papers. She was very nice and passionate about her job!
You can make an A in this class, but you have to work for it. Weekly reading quizzes, some of the readings can be pretty long, but considering the class only meets once a week, it's not that bad. Pay attention in lecture, the test are mostly free response. Zuber is strict with the rules, but she cares about her students. Appreciate participation.
Dr. Zuber is great! She has a dry sense of humor so some people find her lectures boring, but shes actually really funny! She gives a great health and quality of life course and interested me in my health-related major. You have to do the readings to do well on the little daily quizzes, but otherwise its a pretty straight forward class.
Lectures are actually interesting and small group lectures aren't difficult. There's a couple of projects and papers but they're very simple. Papers are only about 1.5-3 pages long, double spaced. Only downside is that most of the work is due on Sunday's at 5pm, which is sort of a strange time. Zuber really knows her stuff and the TA's are helpful.
I do not recommend this class to anyone! Dr. Zuber isn't the problem. It's that most of the semester you spend your time with her TAs (in small groups) that don't know what they are talking about. All they do is repeat what on a powerpoint. The only good thing is that you don't take any exam but you write a lot of papers which the TA grade.
Dr. Zuber is tough but in a good way. Most of the class was spent in small groups with a TA and I found them to be helpful. You will definitely learn something in this class as it is very informative and makes you think. There are a lot of papers but never longer than 3 pages and each paper is guide lined so it'll take an hour at the most.
She's not awful, but not the greatest. Had her for an 8AM and she can be very monotone. Would recommend taking Ms. B over her for HLTH 3101. Grades heavy on a 2 pt. assignment. Her TA Hannah Liddle is AWFUL. EXTREMELY TOUGH GRADER. GIVES NO FEEDBACK.
Does not do much to help you succeed.
You will have A LOT of work to do which includes one paper and 2-3 discussion boards per week. The assignments were interesting and I did learn a lot from this class. However, you really need to dedicate your hardest work to succeed in this class.
While you'll spend more time with your TA in small group sessions, Zuber was one of my favorite professors. She has a good sense of humor and will crack you up pretty often during large lectures. CLASS HAS A LOT OF GROUP WORK so if you're shy you're gonna have to learn to make a few friends. Show up, follow her rubric, and you'll get an 'A'.
If you don't want to take a quiz every class just don't take this class. Her quizzes are also graded for accuracy and not for completion so if you don't read the readings the day before, you are screwed for attendance. The only slightly okay aspect of this course is that she splits you up into groups run by the TAs. They aren't as serious.
There are attendance quizzes at the beginning of every class that are tough at first, but as you get used to the question types you get better at them. There are also papers due at the end of every module. If you follow the instructions and email your papers to your TA to proofread (since they are the ones grading them), you should do well.
Dr. Zuber has a dry sense of humor and a very monotone voice. Attendance quizzes at the start of every class, and gives out zeros if you do not cite the canvas page with the instructions for writing assignments. There is no textbook, but the lectures are super dry and boring. Most of the attendance quizzes are on 3 articles about 5 pages each.
You are rarely actually in lecture with Zuber, you are split up in small groups with TAs which are generally nice. Zuber is funny when you have lecture with her though. Group debates and essays are a major grade. There is attendance quizzes before every class so dont show up late or you dont get to take the quiz to even be counted present. Easy A
After having her as a professor once I avoided her at all cost. I was absent and was excused by student affairs and she took MONTHS to get back to me about makeup work. The class wasn't necessarily hard just a lot of work. On the plus side her TA was very nice and helpful.
Get close with your TA because they teach you in a small group the majority of the time. Make sure you properly cite your sources in your Module assignments. The course is not hard, just very specific and you should definitely read the articles before each class to be successful on the attendance quizzes.
Beware of the attendance quizzes as she not only uses them to track attendance but it is also graded for accuracy.
This class is easy to get an A in if you keep up with the class. Read for attendance quizzes, send your papers to your TA to ensure good grades, and take good notes on new module lecture days for the quizzes. She even offers a few points extra credit if you attend wellness events.
Professor Zuber makes you do a lot of work for an LBST. You have to read before class and you usually have papers/assignments due every Sunday. I accidentally forgot to include in-text citations in my paper and she gave me an automatic zero even though I had my references on the next page. I went to talk to her and she said I have to keep the zero.
Zuber herself is honestly a great professor, she is just a bit intimidating & can come off as strict. Her class requires a lot of reading before each class & a couple papers throughout the semester but she does outline very specifically what to write in your papers. Grading is very strict. Half the class is also spent in small groups w TAs
Depending on the TA you are assigned, this class can be absolutely terrible. So feel free roll the dice. Good luck!
Her online class is extremely strict w citations.. a lot of work for an LBST, make sure to cite EVERYTHING, she will give you a ZERO if not. Multiple readings per week, quizzes worded tricky. For midterm and final, you are placed in groups w an assigned topic and create a presentation for midterm and debate based on that presentation for final.
Very difficult course, and she is very strict. No electronics allowed in class. Also, exams are mainly short response, not many multiple choice.
Professor Zuber and the TA's are very strict about citing your information and are tough graders. Be prepared to do a lot of work for an LBST course. Discussion boards weekly, papers and quizzes every other week. Group project for the midterm and final debate. Overall I would never take a course with her again or recommend her to anyone.
She gives out zeros for incorrect citations, stricter than any English class. Takes away from learning, she is unapproachable and the TA's are unbelievably strict
Okay so in orde to pass, you need to become best friends with your TA. They grade your papers, go to office hours and get them to pre-grade it and fix all of the errors before turning it in. I got a 75% because I didn' have exactly what they needed to give me credit, after that I went to office hours and have gotten 100% since. That' the trick. YW
This was the hardest class I have ever taken in college only because Zuber and the TA's grade EXTREMELY hard. They will give you a zero on any essay or assignment if you do not cite correctly. I had a meeting with Professor Zuber about my grades and she does not care or want to help. Do NOT take a class with her.
I LOVED Dr. Zuber. She made lectures really interesting with videos and interactive classwork. I took a 3-hour class with her and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. There's no textbook but she has a lot of assigned readings and homework. It's really important you get these done on time. Exams are difficult but she always helps.
Do all your work and extra credit and you should receive an A.
She has a lot of work for an elective class. You will have a big group project where you have to present. Her quizzes are really hard and it is hard to study for them. She will also have you write quite a few papers. There are quizzes every class so attendance is mandatory.
You need to attend class due to her having a participation grade every day in it that can make or break your grade. The tests are split into 2 parts. She gives you NO time to take them so know your information. The reading is light in the beginning but gets VERY heavy at the end and its a lot of info to remember for the tests.
Her tests have nothing to do with the material she wants you to read. Beware
Zuber is a very good teacher and she is very easy to talk to as well. I would recommend taking her, she wants you to pass but she doesn't put up with slacking either
Zuber gives interesting lectures, but you'll spend half of the time in a small group with a TA. There are a lot of papers, but you can have your TA review them and tell you what's wrong before you turn them in. A citation error can result in a zero on a paper, so be very careful. Attendance quizzes are also graded for accuracy based on readings.
This class isn't terrible honestly. Don't miss the module quizzes they are worth as much as participation! Know how to cite and be friends with your TA. It's an interesting class and I loved it for an 8am. The attendance quizzes are simple, but you have to read. The answers are in the 1st para. The papers are simple. 3% extra credit to final grade.
Everything is pretty easy in the class, she splits groups up to go with the TA's so you're with the TA for most of the semester. Only hard part is the quizzes, make sure to take notes and you'll write papers but overall they are pretty easy.
Mostly TA's. Each day of class is graded so if you do all assignments well attend 60% of the semester and get a B. Her assignments are way over-explained, she'll write 4 pages just explaining how to write a 2 page paper on Canvas but they are very simple and teach you something interesting. Module quizzes are based on her lectures so attend those
She is a very smart woman with good big lectures, but sometimes her work was just busy work. You have to read about 3-8 pages a night to have a 4 question attendance quiz the next day. You have a good amount of quizzes and essays, so make sure you do good in those. Some classes we had very good conversations in big lecture, and you do learn a lot.
Her class is heavy on group assignments that are just busy work, she has them every class period and theyre graded so dont think about skipping. They do not help with the understanding of the topics at all. Shell call the class out for not understanding a topic when she reads off of a powerpoint. In general she is horribly rude:)
Worst teacher I've ever had would not recommend taking
She is very strict and but your TA will do 60% of the teaching. If you need an lbst, take her. The class is interesting and she will make jokes in lecture.
Miserable instructors make miserable students. Watch out because her and Ms. Beete are a particularly nasty combo when they get together. Prepare to be disrespected and made out to be like you're an idiot. You'd think she'd have more respect for the people she chose to be in the BSPH program, but NOPE.
She is a great professor but the TA does the grading and does not give you explanations on why you received a grade. She is really big on citing your references so if you don't expect to receive a 0!
I have so much respect for Professor Zuber, I truly left her class a better student than when I first entered. She really makes you work for your grade, from mandatory attendance to essays with very precise source citing criterias. Her class is very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone pursuing a career in the humanities field!
Don't listen to the people who gave her a terrible rating. She knows what's like to be a terrible student in academics. The essays are fine just do the things that are said exactly and cite properly, the quizzes aren't bad either, and participate in class! Loved this class! It's honestly easy to get an A there are no surprises at all.
Professor Zuber makes this class far too complex and dense than it needs to be. There is literally something to do every day of the week for her class. Discussion posts, quizzes, group work, peer reviews. I mean she just does not make this class enjoyable. She also grades very tough, and takes off points for incorrect citations. DO NOT TAKE!
One thing that I found hypocritical was how we had a module about mental health yet the professor did nothing to aid that but contributed to it instead. This class has a lot of reading and assignments, the quizzes are difficult, and grading is slow. Also, we were in asynchronous mode but the recorded lectures were not very helpful either.
She seems intimidating but shes actually pretty great. You will have to work a bit but its not unreasonable. Dr. Zuber is super nice and will try her best to help you out. Quizzes can be a bit difficult but I still made an A so its cool.
She gives lots of homework and quizzes weekly but the material is covered in PowerPoints that she gives. Everything is step-by-step and she makes sure you understand one topic before moving onto another. Would love to take another class with her in the future.
Quizzes just about every week, very rude and condescending to students. Overall though her class was easy and gave lots of busy work.
One of the more understanding professors I have had when it comes to extenuating circumstances. She had optional zoom meetings 2x a week for those who wanted to participate but understood that people may not be able to have synchronous class. The weekly quizzes were a bit heavy on reading and some of the weekly material seemed like busy work.
love this class and her ability to work during difficult times like this one. she was an amazing teacher, but i would say the course material is pretty redundant. i learned a lot of applicable material and she was a great teacher! assignments are all easy and she gives tons of extra credit. take her if you need to take a hlth class!
Dr. Zuber was a great professor for HLTH2102. She gave a few extra credit/optional assignments towards the end of the Spring 2021 semester. She doesnt require class, but it helps if you attend class to better understand the assignments. There are a lot of assignments but theyre generally easy and based off of recorded lectures & powerpoints
When she gave lectures I honestly would get lost in what she was saying because I was so interested, and health is nowhere near my major. She frames things super well and all the work is really meant to make you think- nothing more or nothing less.
Dr. Zuber is a great teacher, but the class (LBST2214) is truly one of the most boring classes. Don't get me wrong, the material is interesting, but the assignments are a lot. She's a pretty tough grader, but she gives good feedback and is pretty understanding. This class literally revolves around participation during lectures.
Was not helpful to me at all. Her and miss Beete average about a month together that it takes them to grade important assignments that weigh a lot on your grade for this class. I do not recommend her or miss Beete. There are far more caring professors.
Love Dr. Zuber. She is so kind and caring. The course is hard, but she is a good professor that outlines the material necessary to pass. The tests are so hard though, short time frame. I highly recommend this professor.
Amazing professor and TAs who make sure all students understand the concepts. All lectures are interesting, in-depth and easy to understand. Attendance is mandatory and is kept by answering a question at the beginning and ending of class. This course is not hard at all but requires students to pay attention.
Lengthy grading times, up to months. Harsh grading and long monotone presentations of powerpoint slides. Extremely difficult to reach, email response times could take weeks.
Dr. Zuber & the TA I was assigned to were great with teaching. Quite a few papers, and a group project that lasted for most of the semester. My only complaint is the grading method; we'd often wait for weeks at a time for our grades, which isn't helpful when we'd get the same assignment for the next topic & have no feedback to work with.
Says shes accessible but never responded to my multiple emails over the semester. Tests were given online but had a VERY short time frame, I never had time to finish. Two group projects over the semester. Lectures were long and boring. Attendance was graded.
The hardest part about Dr.Z's class way attendance. Attendance was graded with a participation notecard. The course load was easy but the work had to be completed. There is lots of group wok. It is a great LBST to get hours and a good grade. I recommend.
Honestly a great class. The lectures can get boring quickly but you don't have to pay attention to get an A. Later in the semester you split up into small groups with a TA that is much better than the large lecture. No final instead there is a group project. Assignment instructions are very lengthy but the assignments always ended up being easy.
Professor Zuber was very passionate about public health and she made that clear in her lectures. Each class is worth 5 points so if you don't go, you get a zero for that class. There are 2 group projects, one for the midterm and the other for the final. They are super easy. The assignments each week are also very easy.
My experience in her class, she barely taught, be prepared to be taught by the TA the entire time. Your attendance counts for almost 50% of your grade and she has a opening question and closing question; you must answer both each lecture in order to receive attendance credit. Hated it.
The class is mostly taught by TA. Assignments require a good amount of effort but are not super hard. Attendance is part of the grade so attend class! Only one big project at the end of the semester, but you work with a group. Basically attend class and put effort into all the assignments and you'll do good.
This online course was SO much more work than I expected. It all wasn't too difficult, but it was too time-consuming for my liking. She's also really strict on citing sources in papers and projects, so make sure you follow her guidelines on that.
Okay, I will admit Dr. Zuber can be intimidating. However, behind all that tough skin, she's a great person who actually cares. She can grade kind of tough, but after the first two assignments, you should be able to tell what she wants based on feedback. My first time taking her, I didn't like her but she grew on me and she's not as bad as many say
So annoying only talks about her self, the work itself is not hard but she over explains it to the point where its hard test are unnecessary difficult and you do not have enough time to answer the questions. She is very passive aggressive and rude to her students treats all of her students like high schoolers and micromanages everything
Dr. Z is a professor that shows passion in what she teaches. However, she treats her students like high schoolers, talks about her self a little too much, and she constantly finds ways to annoy everyone around her.
She assigns lots of writing assignments for this class, most of which follow long, boring prompts that make very little sense. She does very little teaching herself and makes the TAs do most of the teaching. There is a group project that you work on throughout the semester. Attendance is graded, which is incredibly cruel for an early morning class.
I did not enjoy this class, but I still did well in it. Attendance is mandatory, she does note cards where you need to answer a question at beginning of class and end of class. There are group projects. She pawns off her classes to smaller groups taught by TAs. She's tough on plagiarism but follow guidelines and you'll do fine. Lots of papers.
Dr Zuber clearly cares about her class. But this class in particular was not enjoyable or worthwhile at all. You will not learn anything important, and a lot of the class is lead by a TA with boring and useless lectures. Your grade will probably just depend on luck with what TA you get, some grade easy some hard for no reason.
Professor was respectful and accommodating. There are small groups and a group project. Assignments were easy to do as long as you use research, site sources, and pay attention. Would recommend this class and teacher!
Professor is respectful. Assignments are easy as long as you do research, pay attention to lectures and teacher notes, and site sources correctly. I would definitely recommend this course and this teacher! Will probably take another class with this professor. She is also very clear with assignments and grading. Super easy extra credit opportunity!
This class was okay. A lot more than I expected for a FOUNDATIONS class, but I got through it. A lot of sitting around and waiting so be prepared for that. And sometimes the assignments were so clear I would get confused and overthought everything so I thought I was stupid or something. SHE TAKES FOREVER to grade assignments to be aware for that!
This class consisted of a few written assignments for each module but not long. Attendance was required and was done by notecard method. No test but there is a group project that you work on from mid-term to the final. There is an extra credit assignment toward the end of the semester. Solid class if you do the work. TA graded and did many lectures
Dr. Z was a good teacher but the TAs make getting 100s pretty hard. They count off for the most random things ever and if you bring it up to Dr. Z she will rarely do anything about it. Besides that, the information and class were very interesting and fun and Dr. Z was easily accessible and gave good feedback! She's pretty funny too
Easy class to get an A as long as you do the assignments, they aren't really graded in depth though. Zuber pawns off the teaching to TAs and they teach the small groups. The one good thing is that there is no exams which is nice.
Professor Zuber really cares about her students and their mental health! Assignments in this class were pretty straight forward and organized. As long as you show up to class and complete the weekly assignments, this should be an easy A.
33% of the class is taught by TA, so your mileage may vary. Overall, this is a very easy and fairly uninteresting LBST course for Gen Ed.
One of the most pretentious people I have ever met. Absolutely rude and disrespectful to students, thinks she is better than everyone. She teaches elementary level information with obviously poorly prepared material but will absolutely destroy your grade on assignments just because. I had to work harder in this class to make an A than I did physics
She is an alright professor; not much interaction with her online. TA grades most assignments. The grading criteria are clear. Usually, two discussion posts a week, with readings and PowerPoint to review. Have one big group project to complete. A good amount of work to complete, but not doing well on one assignment won't affect your grade too much.
She contradicts herself when grading. She will take off points for things that are nowhere on the rubric or instructions. TA's grade very harshly and keep in mind that the whole class is elementary level things but yet suddenly you get points off for having sources underlined in apa citation which is perfectly acceptable according to apa 7.
You'll think everything is going well and then suddenly a bunch of old grades in the grade book, and your grade will plummet overnight. Forget to add one minor citation even ppt slides from class) you'll get a zero for the entire assignment. The TAs do all the grading and they are grading everything all or nothing. Would not recommend
This class is not what it appears to be.Even if you attend every class, you will still end up with zeros just for dumb mistakes. There is no room for error. There a ton busy work and the class could be much more fun if the TAs weren't so strict and boring. The main instructor doesn't do anything except teach about two classes a month. She's ok though.
Taught by TA's Mostly. The class can be interesting sometimes but its mostly really boring. The teacher isn't that bad but you never really see her. Make sure you site literally everything or you will get a zero.
She was pretty easy, you just need to make sure you are citing your sources well. Which she teaches in the beginning of the course. And you just need to do your part in getting the work done. She will assign you a group which you have to work with on a midterm project and final project.
Dr. Zuber is very knowledgeable about health. The topics were understandable and relatable which made it easy to engage in discussion. The grading criteria were clearly laid out, and the course is not very strenuous. Attendance is not mandatory, however, it is heavily graded.
Professor is great. Be prepared to listen to lectures and pay attention. MAKE SURE YOU SITE CORRECTLY. Group project also and big assignment. Assignment are time consuming sometimes, but make sure to take your time and site sources. Not a terrible class, but not a super fun class. A lot is common sense. Professor is great! Class is okay.
would not recommend taking LBST 2214 online it is just a bunch of busy work and boring assignments. She is so tough on grading for a class that is not even in my major. Classes in my major are more lenient and understanding than her class. Gives zeros over little mistakes that could easily be fixed. Overall the class is a waste of tuition money.
I literally created an account just to make this review about this professor. If you see a class that they are teaching, RUN. I would never recommend this professor to another student. They do not provide a reasonable amount of time on tests for you to complete them, and they are the harshest grader I have had in almost 4 years of college. Run.
Difficult class with a lot of content, harsh grading and little to no feedback. Tests are 20 questions but she gives you 15 minutes. In my opinion, this class is common sense but be ready to write essays and do a group project. She's very stingy when it comes to grading and you'll get a 50 for a small mistake. This class was very writing-heavy.
Her class has a lot of content to remember and its difficult to retain info if she's just speaking the entire class which is insanely boring. Her 15 minute test time limit is absolutely crazy. Don't take her if you are looking for an easy class. Too much work for a foundations class, my upper division classes aren't even this bad.
Overall it is an extremely boring class. She treats us like high schoolers by making us do worksheets everyday, while she teaches in her extremely boring and monotonous voice. Her grading criteria and tests are absolutely crazy. I dread this class every time. (BTW attendance is graded, you miss one lecture, it drops your grade by a lot!)
Dr.Zuber is a really tough grader. She will take off points if you aren't clear in your response or aren't being detailed enough. Her test is online and she only gives you 15 min for 14 questions, these questions are mix and match, true or false, and multiple choice. She does this so you don't have time to "cheat".
I can't explain how much I hate the class due to the set up of the entire course. She gives 0's for a every small mistake (there is no room for error). Takes forever to grade EVERYTHING! This class takes an unnecessary amount of work for no reason when it's a elementary leveled course and her exams are absolutely outrageous!!!!!
Super boring lectures. She is a tough grader and takes forever to put grades in.
So many papers. Discourages you from emailing. Whenever trying to talk in person seemed just as disinterested.
She is just not nice. She is condescending and makes everyone feel like they are below her. She does not respond to emails and does not make herself available to help us ever. She takes forever to grade, and will only put in attendance grades, it's been over two months since I submitted my first assignment and I still have not received a grade.
Very condescending and takes forever to grade things. Gives very short amounts of time to take exams which open on Friday's and are due Sunday's. Attendance is required for your grade and you have to participate in daily worksheets that are very repetitive. This class made me feel like I was in high school again. Over the top for a intro class.
She is terrible goes on and on about a bunch of things that are arbitrary and do not matter. I was excited to learn more about how to live a healthy life and s
The professor has a superior complex, she claims to be welcoming but every time a student would answer a question that was slightly different to what was obviously her opinion she would respond with a condescending demeanor. Attendance is mandatory and taken EVERY CLASS. The group project (which is the midterm and final) are confusing AF.
She takes attendance every day and reads the same posted powerpoints. She is self righteous and not understanding of student needs. Never comes to class and uses TAs to teach for her. The final and midterm are insanely confusing and unorganized.
Most of the negative reviews for Dr. Zuber just didn't want to take the class. The topics taught are interesting and Dr. Zuber never came off as condescending at all to me. Class is taught partly in lecture, but most of it was taught TA small groups (mine sucked, got unlucky). The projects aren't confusing either if you just read the instructions.
You have 15 minutes to take tests which barely gives you time to think, Grades take forever to be put in I didn't know where I stood until late semester. Attendance is mandatory and drops your grade if you miss one. Fast to give you a zero on assignments for one mistake- not even take points off, just get a zero. Very condescending to students.
A lot of assignments which include writing multiple-page papers. Midterm/final is a group project where groups and topics are assigned. Gives extra credit opportunities. Does not grade assignments in a timely manner. Takes attendance via a notecard where you have to answer a question on both sides. Easy A class but a lot of work.
Insanely tough grader. Be prepared to submit exactly what the rubric says and then get random points taken off for stuff not on there. I emailed her about this and my email was completely ignored. Don't try to bring anything up in class she doesn't want to hear it. I see the best in teachers often, not her. WEED OUT CLASS
This class was easy, the only thing was her grading, she would take off random points for things not in the rubric. Just do all the assignments and you should be fine and also have your TA look over your assignment before you submit because they usually know the things she will take off for.
Extremely difficult professor, an extremely tough grader, and has STRICT rules/guidelines on assignments and controls how you attend her class and will shame you. Go over the word count by 1 word, automatic zero. Says she is preparing you for the "real world", but her teaching methods are quite the opposite.
DO NOT TAKE IT! 15 minutes to take an exam that is 20 questions with multiple questions inside one question. Will automatically give you a zero if you have a small mistake or if you go over the word limit even by 1 word. Doesn't explain why, and takes forever to grade assignments. Seems she doesn't want the best for her students.
Currently in her HAHS-1511 LBST 2214 combined class and it has been a pain. Rn a month of assignments are ungraded. Very adamant about APA citations even tho you're doing a 150-200 word discussion post half the time. Overall, class is not very hard but she makes it overwhelming and does not care to grade on time. Def passible, but very annoying.
I have this professor for two courses this semester and in both she is very strict about assignments and not understanding whatsoever. She does not reply to emails at all and will deduct points for the smallest problems. This is meant to be a foundations course but she expects all students to come in knowing everything. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She waits until the last minute to grade assignments. Strong grasp of public health, but I wouldn't suggest it to another student. She described the lockdown shooting as a public health event while it was in effect. If a paper exceeded 15 to 50 words, it would receive a zero from her. A different teacher would be my choice.
This class was online so it was hard to really interact with her, not sure about her personally but as a professor she mostly just gives us readings to do and short discussion posts. because of this format, I didn't really learn a lot.
Prof. Zuber is definitely very knowledgeable on public health. However, the grading on writing assignments is really tough and oftentimes inconsistent (in my experience.) Make sure you don't go over word count, and pay attention in class.
I ended up picking up the slack for some group members because a poor grade would impact us all, even if I did my agreed-upon section. There are SO MANY WORDS for every assignment to the point that it's confusing. Very strict outlines/guidelines for EVERYTHING (even the 500-word end of module reflections). Writing heavy with few quizzes/tests.
SHE HATES WORD DOCUMENTS !!!! when submitting work you can only do it as a PDF or text entry via canvas she's easy to pass because it's literally high school level of work.
I have written less in my college English courses and high school courses combined. Not to mention, assignments would randomly appear last minute, giving you only 2 days to complete them, so it's nearly impossible to plan out this course in the long run. She takes several weeks to grade assignments, and you do so much work for a so little credits.
Professor Zuber is knowledgeable on public health, but the way the class is run is VERY repetitive. She takes about a month to grade exams, in which you are given little time to complete. I dreaded this class everyday. Still not sure where my grade stands in this class due to her slow grading. AVOID taking her if you can.
Awful, one of the worst classes I've ever taken. Assignments are given at the last minute with a 500 word word count, and if you go a little over or under she takes points off. Group assignments in an online class were horrible, and at least 3 assignments per week. Also wanted you to cite every single thing you wrote. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
This professor is very strict overall. Her unit tests are only available during the weekends, and she's very strict on word/sentence counts. Group projects are awful due to strict grading/instructions. She's very strict about attendance and won't hesitate to give students zeros on assignments. Lectures are a pain because she wastes time in class.
After 4 years of college, Prof. Zuber was the worst professor I ever had. Extremely unfair grader, if you missed the word count by 1 word, etc it resulted in an automatic zero. Prof. Z also took months to grade and never gave any feedback. I dreaded coming to class; everything was just repetitive or busy work. I would NOT recommend her to anyone.
Ended course with a grade of 69.97, she wouldnt let me make up the extra 0.03 points or help boost me up to a C, now I have to retake the course as a senior to complete my minor in Fall. Would never recommend this TERRIBLE UNCARING TEACHER.
Professor Zuber is not the worst professor ever but if you have another option I would choose them. She wants every assignment in a very specific way. She does lay out how she wants it but if you very even a little your grade will feel it. She allows her TAs to teach most of the class and there are clear communication gaps between her and them.
NEVER had a professor who does not want her students to succeed like this one. She gives zeros for SIMPLE mistakes that could have just deducted a few points. Makes up things to deduct points on that are not in the original rubric. Instructions are pages long and if one mistake is made, ur grade is DONE. Wouldnt have taken ph minor if i knew this.
dr. zuber was one of the best teachers i've ever had at uncc, she was super respectful and offered a lot of leniency with assignments when i communicated with her. i thought the course material was paced all right. the exams were 15 minutes long but not too bad i got about 88-90 on all of them. she's super sweet and gives great feedback :)
TAKE THE COURSE ONLINE it's much easier than in person from what ive read because of attendance. emailing when you need help or clarification will be extremely useful!! make sure you're understanding the powerpoints and the exams will be a breeze. 5/5 teacher, one of the best ever if you follow all the instructions to the very last detail.
does not stop rambling on and on about topics we learned in elementary school. treats us like children, will not move on until at least 20 people pitch in to the discussion. So repetitive. And rude??
Prof. Zuber is a knowledgeable instructor, but the course can be quite strict. Follow instructions carefully and use Unstuck ai for exam prep - it really helped me ace the exams.
I wanted to like professor Zuber as I truly liked her teaching style. I found her grading EXTREMELY unfair as if one small mistake is made she will give you a 0. Many assignments I turned in quality work and hit many points on the rubric, but she would still give me a 0 for just one mistake. She also walked out on our class.
I would never take the time out of my day to trash on a professor, but here I am. I went through the entire semester with an A+ but on one assignment, forgot to put a reference page and received a 0. My grade dropped right at the end of the semester with no more time to fix it. A 0 on a near perfect paper with correct in-text citations is insane.
I liked this class because of the material, as a public health major, her class was super interesting to me. However, there was a time when I submitted an assignment and received a zero simply because my source link didn't work, even after I brought this to her attention, she told me she wouldn't regrade it. I felt discouraged
Dr. Zuber is an amazing professor. Yes, she is a tough grader BUT she has the exact grading criteria that you need to do in her assignment descriptions so if you mess that up that's on you. She cares for her students and is very funny. Overall very kind and one of my favorite professors.
This Professor is awful, she has 3-4 pages of instructions on every assignment, and if you don't follow every single step (there's always about 20), you'll receive a zero.
Clearly an expert in her field, she was always prepared for lectures. Lectures do somewhat rely on participation and discussion, and she genuinely loves when students share their honest opinions! Participation/attendance is a large portion of your overall grade.
Wasn't an awful class but most of the assignments that were given were just repeating the same concepts one after another and became a chore to complete. Be prepared to answer critically because she will follow up with many questions if you participate. She was funny, not many complaints except that her lectures tend to get boring.
This woman not only does not teach most of her classes, she doesn't grade at a remotely normal time. She uses TA's to run the class by separating the students into smaller sections, and has incredibly poor communication with the TA's. Overall a horrible experience, I know she enjoys what she does but maybe teach the class if you do.
The class overall is ok, I had to take this class for credit, but honestly, the topics we talk about in class, I feel as though are common knowledge and probably do not need to be a class tbh. But prepare to be in group projects for half of the semester. A lot of papers. Easy to pass just do the assignments and theres no tests.
Honestly this teacher was so much better than expected, the set up of the class requires you to do very minimum homework and they're easy assignments with straightforward instructions. We broke into groups so we rarely seen her. when we did she was a good teacher, she's nice and funny. Attendance is mandatory so if you don't come you will fail
I don't know why she has so many 1 stars and I am usually one to avoid one stars but I took her class and literally it is so simple. You'll have assignments maybe every two weeks and they're basic writing assignments with word counts and you have to use correct citation. If you follow the instructions literally you'll pass.
Really easy class but she wants it to seem difficult. She should be teaching elementary schoolers with the way the interacts with her students. Excessive instructions on everything that make things look overwhelming, but every assignment was very very easy. Also passive aggressive and will call you out if you're not paying attention during lecture.
At first I was very iffy about taking her HLTH 2102 class due to the other ratings, I will say they did scare me but I still took my chances. Long story short, her class is amazing!!!! I absolutely loved and enjoyed it, she made my friend and I felt comfortable learning and applying the material to our coursework and tests. Please take her class :)
Dr.Z is a great professor who is very knowledgeable in her field. Her lectures are very good but she assigns a lot of work, I had more work in her 3 credit hour class than I did in my 4 credit class. Her test are a bit challenging as they are based on application instead of memorization but an A in her class is still doable.
Course is pretty easy but can get annoying because of how interactive we have to be.
She most definitely is knowledgeable in her field, but she is not good as a professor. I was in an accident an hour before class, which led to me not being able to go to class, the next class meeting I went up to her and asked if I can come to office hours to do a debrief and she said to me, No I will post the slides on canvas review them.
The class isn't bad at all; Dr. Zuber is a very kind and caring instructor, and not nearly as bad as some of these ratings suggest. She's understanding about late work if you explain your situation. Attendance matters, and she expects participation. Although for a one-credit class, it's more work than expected.
The class was ok, just felt like was very time-consuming class. Easy material, but grades hard. She does tend to be a little rude. The first day of class, she said she wanted to be referred to as Dr.Zuber and not to be called Pilar because we are not her friends, which is like ??? It's just the way she says things that can be off-putting.
Dr. Z is one of the best professors I've had. She is extremely kind and understanding and genuinely wants to see her students succeed. The content itself of HAHS 1511 isn't difficult, but there is a lot of homework. You'll also be put into small groups taught by a TA who you'll work on group projects with. Make sure you participate and take notes!
she is an awesome person and kinda funny. not a great teacher. i will say, we just do group work every class based on what we had to READ outside of class and if your name isnt on the paper, zero for you! she waits until every end of the month to grade EVERYTHING FOR THE MONTH so you never know what to fix until its too late.
She is a tough grader, and takes a while to grade assignments which means you wont know if you need to withdrawal until it's too late. The group projects are demanding and are for the midterm and final. If your group members have work, or multiple classes, and it's hard to meet, you're going to struggle. There is no in class time to work on these.
Takes forever to grade and answer emails. Sometimes she is funny and sometimes she just seems aggravated. There is a lot of mindless busy work and her grading is not always clear or overly complex when it does not need to be. She just makes things harder than they should be overall.
DR. Z was extremely unfair when it came to grading. She would hand out zeros for simple human mistakes that most professors would just take off points for. Can't access the document zero, forgot to number your responses, zero. Two big group projects and three major tests; if you score low on any of them, it's impossible to recover your grade.
I think Dr. Zuber is incredibly smart and loves what she does, but many of her students dread going to her class. She's very tough with grading and I took this class as an elective like many other people do and I felt that the grading was very harsh. A lot of the in-class work isn't helpful and we're given A LOT of homework.
Dr. Z puts exactly what she expects in assignment instructions. Yes a zero may be harsh but everything she wants is right in front of you so just double check your work and you'll do fine. One of my fav professors.
