Middle East class is probably going to be one of the best and most important classes you will take in college. Prof Tremblay is a well-known expert in her field with lots of connections in DC and the region. she goes out of her way to help her students inside and outside the classroom. Her presence at CPP is crucial, MUST TAKE HER CLASSES!
She truly cares about her students. She may seem tough initially but eventually she grades really flexibly and she is understanding if you talk to her in time. I had a rough semester and i really didnt read most of the book, but i completed all assignments and did the fun extra credit videos. She is quite funny and very knowledgable in her field.
Prof T is a one in a lifetime experience, as a senior all I can say is --i wish i met her sooner. For the covid transition, she was on top of all everything, kept in touch with her students. Her class page was always updated, grades entered. She cares about her students and the class is really easy.
There are 2 midterms and a take home final. We did one midterm in class then we had to switch online. All her projects and submissions, including final are flexible and online. She is looking for improvement, engagement. She motivates her students that reach out to her. I will enroll in M East class this semester. 5 stars!!! Best letters of recomme
MEast class has been one of the reasons why I decided to go to grad school. Prof Tremblay is passionate about the region, its culture, its music, food but most of all its people. She is inspiring. Works with each student to reach their goals and the class is customized for student's choices. I wish i could take her class again! Caring good person
Professor Tremblay is a nice professor and her class isn't too difficult if you complete the reading, watch the lectures, and attend class. She has high expectations for her students but is fair when grading. I recommend her class to anyone who is willing to put in the work and learn the material. She is easy to contact and is willing to help.
AMAZING professor. Very interesting and informative lectures. She knows her stuff and you'll learn a lot in this class. I definitely recommend her.
Awesome Professor, just be cautious of the exams, those can be super tough. She is super loving and caring and try to show up to class and participate as she will give a extraordinary amount of extra credit to those people who attend regularly. Easy A, but you gotta put in effort.
This was a hyflex class so you can follow the class in any format you want. Prof Tremblay sailed the choppy waters of this format graciously. We had great speakers join us. She also writes amazing letters of recommendation and she records lectures at home while also lecturing in the classroom. Just take her she is worth every effort.
I took the class online. The class is well-organized with timely reminders on all assignments. After each chapter you do inquizitive, which anyone can get 100% if you keep doing it. It reviews the chapter. 3 easy news reports, and 2 midterms multiple choice. All was set up in advance with accommodating deadlines. Stress free learning environment.
Best professor I've ever had so far no cap. Such a nice and caring person. Tried her best to have interactive learning which is why I came here to begin with. Tests are hard and most questions aren't on quizlet which is lame but who cares just study
Professor Tremblay is very knowledgable and kind. She has a BIG emphasis on class participation which helped the learning environment a lot. This class engages you in current politics and forces you to think critically. There are weekly assignments, news reports, 2 midterms, and a final, all of which require attention in order to effectively learn.
She cares a lot about her students' learning. Her class is more of a discussion hall with little lecturing and more discussion among peers answering her questions. Essays are straight forward and should not be to difficult to most people if you have been paying attention and reading.
The class is a well organized experience of news reports, political analysis and discussion. Because of the masks, she would record the lecture. so if you miss class you can follow online just fine. She values participation and highlights crucial points in class. Rather than figures/dates etc it is more abstract thinking and processing of ideas.
A bit tough but really read and watch lectures and you should be fine. Really nice professor enjoyed her class but I was lazy so I took advantage. If it wasn't for her class I probably would have not passed but I pulled through. Super accessible and she cares for students recommend hands down. Good luck
I took the class looking to kill a GE, but ended up learning +making friends. We were online meeting once a week. These meetings were extra credit, so every week you have extra credit. 2 multiple choice midterms, one final 3 news reports (solid). She loves teaching and cares for her students. Enroll soon if there's room, if W-listed email her.
Prof T is the best online teaching I had in the last 2 years. Well organized, timely reminder, regular meeting hours. We had a great study group she encouraged us to form. She cares for her student's mental being, career paths, class success. No busy work, all assignments are well-explained and grading rubrics provided. Best prof ever!
Professor Tremblay really made my first semester at CPP the best. She is an amazing professor who really cares for her students. She is really understanding and helpful when you don't get the material or need help with it.
Class- FP of the M.East. You read, you write, you talk and it is not easy but YOU LEARN! She is approachable, kind, understanding and caring. You have to ask questions, do your best. Some assignments she will provide you instructions longer than the assignment itself. She probably spent more time on the class than us. She's passionate.
The class was discussion sessions, as lectures and questions were posted on canvas in advance. There is textbook and a few additional readings. She tries to learn about her students and is very accommodating. Just speak to her. She cares abt students' mental health and wellbeing genuinely. I wld recommend her class, do the readings though.
Prof.Tremblay made my first semester a bit less stressful. She is an amazing professor who cares for her students & is understanding & helpful when you don't get the material. Like many classes, you will need to read, study, & put in effort to get the grade desired. She encourages participation & tries to give you the tools needed for exams/papers.
2 midterms and 1 final multiple choice, 3 news reports. She sends regular reminders on all assignments and weekly emails explaining what was done and what is coming next week. She has a clear syllabus, all modules were available long before required time. Mark your calendars for inquizitive, if you plan well in the beginning it is an easy class.
Super cool professor. She made the first back-in-person semester quite fun and stress-free for me. I made lots of friends in her class because the class is highly interactive with lots of in class activities, group settings. She gives clear guidelines about what to do, when to do and how to do. If there is room enroll in her class
When I took this class it was online. She made the class an async class where you were responsible for teaching yourself even though there were lectures. The lectures were for discussions rather than learning the material. Passing is doable as long as you read the textbook and getting an A is possible too but quite a bit of effort is required.
If you find a spot enroll! She is the best. Caring, considerate person and a brilliant scholar. She still makes time to listen to her students and tries her best to accommodate different needs. As a foreign student I learned a lot from her and writes the best letters of recommendation. Her classes are engaging and fun but you have to pay attention
The class was in person during Fall 2022. She was one of the few prof at the time brave enough to teach in person, and we appreciated that. She always asked how we are doing, tried to learn about our own individual interests and made sure we were not isolated. The class is not about memorizing but about analytical analysis. It is a must-take class
professor is horrible. so far, the grading is not hard. the midterm is take home, so she expects deep thinking. she treats the entire class like theyre unintelligent expects answers to questions when she barely lectures and expects in depth understanding of the reading. she expects heavy participation and makes checks every time you participate
Two midterms -- multiple choice, and one final. three news reports and a policy proposal for the senate. She wants you to go beyond the text book and speak your mind freely. She is passionate and caring. Come to class prepared, that is all you have to do and be a part of the class discussions. She provides a clear grading criteria for tests
USFP in MENA class was amazing!I decided to write my thesis in this field. The reading list was comprehensive and the syllabus is detailed. This professor really wants you to learn and cares that you are career-ready. Since taking the class with her, I feel more accomplished and able to define my future goals. If you can TAKE HER class
Easy grader and passionate teacher. The exams are in class and take home. She always provides different forms of assessment and customizes to her students' needs. She went out her way to help several students in my section. She is also big on accessibility, as some one with ADHD and international student I felt comfortable reading in her class
Most adorable professor with basic requirements for a GE. No busy work. This was the second time taking this class for me. She makes it easy and understandable. Initially you may worry because she is passionate with high standards but the class goes exactly as stated in the syllabus. Read, participate, listen you will enjoy and learn. Recommend!
English is my second language and I was worried about this class. I not only enjoyed the class but for the first time I felt I belonged in a class. It takes a few weeks to get used to the rhythme. She is up beat. But she is also the one of the only prof who would remind you to sleep, eat and take care of your mental health when midterms come.
As a DACA student I am indebted to Proff Tremblay. She went out of her way to help me and my mom. She is a humble, kind and caring person. She takes her class seriously, she wants you to learn. Go to her office hours, her door is always open. She is fair.
This was the most stressful class I took this sem. SO MUCH READING! She expects you to read the whole chapter, memorize parts from it, and come into class ready to teach the lecture BEFORE she starts the lecture. She really nags on the participation and makes the WHOLE CLASS uncomfy! Midterms are mini AP tests. Only bright side: you do learn.
She teaches the same class in different formats, so you can pick and choose the one that fits your learning style. There is one with multiple choice another with in class exams. She truly cares about her student's wellbeing and learning. It is a GE but you get to make lots of new friends and she encourages connecting w classmates. Fun class
This is an easy A, GE. You attend class regularly, discuss the issues w/classmates, and ask questions. As an engineering major it was a cool different pace for me. She is flexible, she goes out of her way to check in her students. She allows all students to have a voice, it is a fun class if you are engaged.
One of the best classes I took at CPP. She invited world class speakers --on zoom-- for every other topic and provided us step-by-step instructions on how to complete the assignments. She is caring if you can tell her you care as well. She always follows up on students. Take her!
Professor Tremblay is so genuine. She loves what she teaches and you can tell by the way she lectures. Her class is easy, if you do your work you will pass the class. If you have social anxiety with presenting she will understand you. Participation does matter but it's not like she will randomly call on you, she will never do that.
One of my favorite professors. She's super nice and very accessible out of class. She is very big on working in groups. Doesn't lecture heavily. Pretty strict on extra credit but her assignments and exams are super simple. Would definitely recommend.
The best prof ever! She will go out of her way to help you. She cares for her students, listens to them, encourages them. I took the class as a GE but we learned a lot. Come to class, make friends and enjoy. You wont know how the weeks go by!
I failed this class 2 times before I take prof pinar, she is the best ever!!! She is kind, caring, understanding and has a humor like no other. She is so much respected, half the class is her former student's younger bro or sis. She seems tough but has a heart of gold. If you can get in, take her class
She is solid. Her expectations are clear. I really appreciate all that she did. She listens to her students and always tries to help.
This professor was pretty easy you just need to read some stuff and go to the lectures because she covers what was in the book. She had 2 midterms and 1 final that where all pretty easy and one presentation/essay that only 1 page. I recommend this class to get a GE class out of the way.
This professorr is very kind, understanding and caring. She goes out of her way to help. It is an easy class, just follow the modules online and you are set. An easy GE.
She cares a lot about her students, all you need to do is participate and you'll do good. Very understanding and welcoming. Reading the book is necessary for her lectures but it isn't too difficult; you can just glance over each section. I would definitely take her again
hands down one of the most caring and knowledgable professors i had at CPP! She loves the subject matter and connects with the students. The class is easy w a few written assignments and one in class exam. I would definitely recommend her, also writes really impressive letters for internships.
easiest GE, she is caring and understands students well. Talk to her if you are having a problem, she really wants you to do well.
Professor Tremblay is really a great person she's always there for her students I really enjoyed her class. There is 2 midterms and a take-home final exam. Reading the book is important so you can understand what's going on and what is going to be on the midterm.
Very nice professor. Easy class, mostly just busy work and a few small writing assignments. Some extra credit. The textbook is online but I don't remember using it.
She is the kindest professor who truly cares about her students. If you miss an assignment, she will email you not bec of the assignment but she genuinely worries how you are doing, She will ask about you in class. She also wants you to learn and she is fair. 2 checkpoints 1 final 1 paper and book exercises. Easy to get an A if you are present.
This is my 5th year at CPP and I took this class before. Prof T is a gem at CPP. She is kind, generous and caring. She is also humble with a diverse background that is willing to listen and find the optimal solutions for her students. I wish I could take more classes with her. She creates a welcoming classroom where you learn with ease.
Prof Tremblay is amazing!! You learn so much and she is very educated and passionate about teaching government. Super easy grader and very understanding. She cares so much for everyone in her class to succeed in and outside of school. She is the best!
Cares about her students Easy to pass if you try
She is super nice and caring. Her expertise on MENA is in Turkey but knows so much about the Middle East and North Africa
She is a very good professor, caring and wanting you to succeed she is the best!!!
She is charismatic and kind and generous. she gave us all extra credit in the final. her expectations, deadlines are clear. She sends reminders every week. She will go out her way to help her students, writing letters for them, working with them, encouraging them to be a part of the class. Thank you prof! you are amazing!
As a senior I can confidently say that Prof Tremblay is one of the best at CPP. Even after two years she remembered me and provided a letter of recommendation. She deeply cares for her students -- their learning, but also building their self-confidence, and their wellbeing also their future. You have an ally who is kind and quite funny.
One of the best professors in Cal Poly Pomona, she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed She is very passionate about what she teaches Take her
Very chill professor who connects with each student. You follow the material and add your two cents from time to time and you are good to go. It is an easy class. Tremblay makes it really fun if you follow. I barely looked at the textbook and got an A in the class. She just needs to see you are learning
Amazing prof-- a very left wing one, but still as a white christian male i loved her classes. She listens to everyone, she engages everyone, before and after class she will ask how you are. She is classy and kind and I think that is what makes her amazing in the classroom. Take her class if you can clear the waitlist.
Not a good professor; implies and forced personal opinion onto the class and students which is the forefront of what NOT to do as a professor. Ruined many students mental health and is overall rude, dismissive, and has a superiority complex.
Great and easy class, although the material can be boring Prof Tremblay makes it much more fun. And she is super patient, i dont know how but she was always so patient. Always professional and caring. She will reply to emails 2am if she is up and you have an urgent issue. She always asks her students how they are. Kind and generous.
MENA class is a must for any social science class. When you look at the news almost anyday most of them connect somehow to MENA, your gas prices, your security concerns, your hummus flavor. We spoke about all that and more. I would love to take Tremblay again, she is kind, understanding and caring. Several voices from MENA joined our the class
This class is super easy as long as you attend and participate. This was my favorite class ever. Everyone, especially the professor, was very respectful, even though there were definitely opposing opinions in the class. This class is a hidden gem at CPP.
a wonderful person and brilliant scholar, she is one of the kindest and most caring people you will meet at CPP.
Professor Tremblay is easily my favorite professor at CalPoly. She's very engaging with the lectures which really drives the concepts home. She's a very fair grader and every assignment is not too stressful. I can confidently say I learned a lot from her class.
I dislike government, but this professor made it a tolerable subject by her enthusiasm and passion towards the subject. She is absolutely hilarious and you can tell she does her best to ensure that all of her students succeed in her class. Participation counts, 3 exams (final is semi-cumulative). Take her, you're making a mistake if you don't.
I was really looking forward to her class but was shocked by her rudeness up front. She couldn't answer a question I asked about an unclear due date then eventually shouted when I asked for clarification. I also emailed her twice about missing class due to sickness, but never got any response. Given her great reputation this really threw me off.
2 midterms, 1 final, short presentation and you get credit for even reading the book. It is boring material but Tremblay makes it fun and funny most of the time. She is clear in her expectations and grading. If you can get through the waitlist try to join her class. And enjoy!
One of the nicest kindest and most patient professors on campus. Her door is always open, and I hope I can take another class with her.
She only has a high rating because the class is an extremely easy A, but she is a horrible teacher, she was rude most of the semester. Participation matters a ton, if you don't participate she will call u out and get upset, the last day of class she walked in acting extremely nice all of a sudden with treats and asked us to leave a review SHES FAKE
2 midterms, a final, a GE with rather boring material but Tremblay's lectures are fun and engaging. She values participation but whether you get it right or wrong doesnt matter what she cares is that you are learning. And you do, as a senior I can say she is one of the few whose door is always open who always replies to emails. Take her if possible
Professor Tremblay genuinely cares about her students. She always reaches out to see how you are. She gave me a make up exam for the midterm I missed, i was scared to ask but she emailed me. She is has a big heart and she wants you to learn. Her classes are always full.
This teacher is very sweet but is also strictish at times. She is very nice when it comes to due dates but when it comes to participation in class she really wants people to participate if you are very introverted or dont like speaking much id suggest finding another professor. Speaking and participating is part of the grade.
Just do your work, participate and you'll be chilling
Read the syllabus! She told us that at the beginning of the semester and she was to the point. She goes by her word. Everything is clear, deadlines, guidelines, what to do when, how much is each assignment, how to get an A. There are no surprises she does all she can do to increase everyone's grades and she cares that you make friends in class.
She is the best. The only time she asks for you to do something is to be kind to others and to yourself. One of the most caring professors you will find. Enroll in her classes if you can find a spot
Professor Tremblay is passionate about teaching, so you should learn well in her course. When attending her classes, I remembered loving her lessons given how in-depth she'd go in each material. She has a genuine interest to help students succeed, so she'd customize many of the assignments for all to pass. I recommend her for your upper elective.
Easy A. One midterm, one final -- both online and open-note with Google-able questions. I only showed up like 50% of the time, but when I did show up I participated intensely, so I received full marks on the participation grade. She praised me as a great scholar despite my spotty attendance and offered to write me a letter of rec.
Great professor with high quality notes however her lectures were boring so I stopped going the last month of the semester lol.
Fun and smooth class. Met lots of friends in this class. My section participated a lot and Tremblay really encouraged all student voices to be heard. The class is well organized, you know what to do, when to do, and what to expect at any point. It is a GE but she makes the time go fast. Midterms are easy.
Tremblay is the BEST! She proactively reached out to me when I was struggling at the beginning of the semester, helped me learn how to learn according to my challenges. She is not the kind that pays lip service to diversity but one that truly cares. BEST EVER
Looking for a GE that wont stress you out? Take Tremblay, her teaching style gives room to complete projects in your own schedule. She is fair in her grading. As a freshman i didnt want to go to class but it really helped me to get things done and start college strong. She is kind and passionate. You see several former students visiting her class
Best teacher at cal poly pomona
She's amazing! Genuinely the sweetest any time I reached out to her for help/feedback. She posted weekly announcements and little "check-ins" to motivate students. The class wasn't too difficult and able to complete without too much stress. Definitely recommend taking her if you can!!
