She is super sweet and thorough and her accent is pretty cute. She does a ton of lecturing and expects you to say something sometime during the quarter, and gets a little angry when no one talks. Basically gives you a study guide of what could be on the Midterm and the final is a couple long essay answers. Doesn't really matter if you miss class.
She's really nice and gives study guides 24hrs prior for midterm and final, know the answers on the study guide and you'll get an A. For quizzes, memorize vocab words for chapter you're supposed to read by that day. If you do what she asks for letter to senator project you'll get almost all, if not all, points.
She'll give extra credit for participation but watch out for the group projects. she expects answers within the five minutes together and she will get angry if you take too long. She is a very great professor. She may pick on you for answers. It's okay you can wing it on your history knowledge.
Currently taking her class and she's absolutely amazing! She's always super nice and willing to clear things up for you. I HATE history or anything that has to do with it but she made it very enjoyable. PS: the study guide is what's going to be exactly on the midterm so know the answers!!!!

For quizzes, memorize vocab words for chapter you're supposed to read by that day. If you do what she asks for letter to senator project you'll get almost all, if not all, points. I really enjoyed this class! She's really nice and it is obvious she cares for her students. I recommend the class for those who really put effort into your work and participation in this class is definitely encouraged.
Participation matters! She starts class everyday by asking "What's going on in the world?" so look up breaking news and give a short answer from your seat and she will mark you down for participating that day. She's super sweet, such a beautiful soul. No homework besides reading a chapter before the next lecture.
The nice thing about Professor Tremblay's class is the transparency. The syllabus outlines everything you will need to do to receive an A. The 2 quizzes are easy if you read the chapter (she gives one definition, you provide the key term). The midterm is straight from the study guide. She's very approachable and really cares about her students.
Prof. Tremblay is an absolutely fantastic professor. You will come away from this class with a much more comprehensive and in-depth knowledge on politics and the political process. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she makes a big effort to incorporate everyone into lectures, which was great because everyone learns better that way.
Prof Tremblay is amazing. The moment you enter her class, you know everything you do is about politics. She can give examples from starbucks coffee one is drinking, or pink socks; before you know it the way you approach the world would change. You will ask more questions, she will encourage you to do better. I am a pol animal now!
Just a nice, down-to-earth, hard-working person, who knows so much about American politics, along with the Middle East. She will start slow and simple and connect with everyone in the class. Sleeping students be aware. She wrote me 4 letters of recommendation in the last year bec I was trying to get a job. I have a job now and she was so happy !
Middle East is a complicated region to learn about in 10 weeks. However, Prof Tremblay provides 1- transparent classroom 2-interactive learning 3-custom designed classwork. You make your choices and have to bear the consequences. I wrote policy papers, and i never have done it before. It was totally learning by doing. She gives amazing feedback.
At first, I thought Professor Tremblay was REALLY intimidating; however, as the quarter rolled around, she's a really friendly person. Participation is heavy in this class--a check is marked off your name every time you participate, which basically is raising your hand to share something about the news/asking a question/giving your opinion/etc.
The first thing you will learn about Tremblay is passion and the need to be honest. I started the class knowing little about MEast but holding plenty of prejudices. I had to read and read and write. Learning is a struggle but Tremblay always encourages those who try, helps at every step even when you dont ask for help. She is truly amazing.
Tremblay is incredible. She saw potential in me from the last class I took with her and encouraged me to take Middle East government with her! Even as a sophmore (youngest student in class), best decision of my life! She constantly works to help you succeed and make sense of the complexities of the Middle East region. If you possibly can, TAKE HER!
The best professor I have had at cpp she is truly very knowledgeable about her filed.
The best professor I have had at cpp she is truly very knowledgeable about her field.
Middle East is a difficult class, i came in not knowing much, and it was difficult. However, now I can actually understand the crucial terms spoken thanks to Tremblay. She is very passionate, available for her students anytime, devils advocate many times to generate discussion and interest. She is a brilliant professor with a heart of gold.
She is inspirational, not a tough grader but need to come in class prepared. Middle East class is difficult even if you are from the region, still if you are going to learn it Tremblay is the best prof ever to take. Passionate, hardworking, dedicated and her heart is in the region. Truly mind provoking prof. writes gr8 LofRec
inspirational. She is able to hook about 95% of the class, which is GE on the first few lectures. The class is clear, syllabus, all assignments are provided before the quarter starts. She observes all students carefully and willing to write letters on their behalf when noone else would. Take her, and shine through her class. You wont regret it
Tremblay is an amazing teacher! She is so caring and really cares for the well being of her students. The class is somewhat challenging in that you need to make sure you read the night before. However, it is nothing that I would say not to take her forI felt like I was fairly evaluated when it cam time for grades and would 100% recommend taking her
Tremblay is a very caring professor but she is also quite brilliant and you can learn a lot from her. I would not recommend taking 446 if you cannot dedicate time to studying, but it is a very fun class and you WILL learn something. Tremblay is super interesting and passionate about teaching. Favorite professor by far!!
I had never felt the desire to post something online about a professor until I took Pinar. Her passion for politics is so apparent in every single lecture to the point that it almost feels criminal to even call them "lectures." Show up, listen when she speaks, and you will do well in this class.
I loved this class she's so passionate and just a lovely person overall. to learn from. I didn't read which i regret at times but I still go a B in the class. Long story short TALK and go to class.
Tremblay motivates her students not just for her own class but for life. She has a deep passion about politics, combined with a respectful care about her students. She wants to know you are well, she wants you to care, bec it matters in your life. I hated politics bec I did not know now I am learning. Listen to her, truly amazing Prof. THANK YOU
Tremblay is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Read her syllabus before class start to make sure you are good with what is expected. she is clear and yes demands participation and knowledge of the material. Would it be better to do busy work? I now read the news thanks to her and know what is happening around me. THANK YOU Prof T!
Hardworking prof expecting ALMOST PERFECT students, she pushes you to your limits yes but the end is beautiful. I had a rough time initially but then I started seeing the region differently reading non-stop and I caught up with the rest of the class. She is intelligent, and understanding. BEST class in college life EVER
She's quite funny and caring. She's understanding so talk to her if you have a problem. Also, participate!! even if you don't exactly know the answer, participate as much as you can because she'll give extra credit.
This class was difficult at first but as the quarter went on, it became one of my favorite classes! Professor Tremblay is so passionate about politics and is very knowledgeable. I recommend to participate and definitely read for the class session. Overall, an amazing class and learned so much.
I hated history and politics. I am an engineer, why should i take this class? I sat w/earbuds and Prof Tremblay turned me into a political buff. Now I read the news first thing in the morning, I question why certain bills are being argued. All I wish was that she would teach other classes, I would double major. MARVEL woman she is, TAKE HER!
The beginning is the heaviest because of all the vocabulary, but it eventually lightens. There are 2 quizzes, both about terms from the chapter; she gives the definition, you give the term. Not participating in class won't destroy your grade but it will help, so make sure to read and report the news and to answer questions.
Did not like this class at all in the beginning and disliked the amount of reading. Show up to her lectures, pay attention, and participate and you will pass. 2 very easy vocabulary quizzes, one midterm, one take home final. Nothing is a surprise because every specific date is mentioned in the syllabus. I ended up loving her and this class!
Five star professor, super caring and definitely top notched. Stop reading this review and go get her on your schedule. Reading and participation really matters in this class. Do well with those and and you will be set.
I absolutely loved this Professor. I'm a sophomore and she is hands down the best Professor I've ever had. The first 2 weeks, I'll admit, I disliked her. But she really cares about her students. You MUST participate. Try to talk at least twice per class. No homework, but be prepared for class by reading the book. The final is an easy 2 page paper.
GET READY TO READ you are going to read a lot . If you don't like to participate then beware of taking this class. Because you are going to be required speak out a lot(and if no one does then she starts calling out random names) . (1 solo presentation, 1 one page essay, 1 midterm, 2 one page essays for final) easy B/A
Absolutely amazing Professor, you will remember her long after you graduate. This is the statement by all who took her class. She is genuine, hard working, down to earth and goes out of her way to help her students. She grades on time, provides feedback and helps all that need it. A gem @ cal poly. Thank you Prof T!
You can tell she definitely knows her stuff. I recommend getting the textbook, you can do w/o but I can't promise you'll get a good grade. There's 1 solo presentation that connects w/ a 1 page letter to a senator, 1 midterm, & 1 final that is 2 pages but its due online. Study everything on the study guide & you should be good. Be ready to speak!!
She requires a lot of participation in the form of: reporting gov news, answering questions, or answering the group work questions. You don't do those; you don't pass. Midterm you get 24 hours with the study guide and final is take home essay with 26 hours. She's pretty lecture heavy so try not to fall asleep cause she will ask you to leave.
As a senior, I tell you she is the BEST you will find! She is passionate, caring and has truly amazing lectures. Attendance and participation is 10 % of the grade, and you can miss 2-3 sessions w/no excuse and others with proper excuses then it starts affecting your grade. But if you take all exams and excel you can still get a B+ w/o attendance
There are a few profs you will remember after graduation and Tremblay is surely one of them. As a conservative Christian and Republican, I respect her because she respects everyone. She is fair and always challenging her students to excel. In her class your brain will get tired, just like your muscles do in the gym. TAKE HER CLASS!
caring, passionate, smart and hardworking prof. Initially, you may feel stressed a bit but it is a good stress, after midterm class becomes fun + discussions among students are thrilling. She allows for students to voice their opinions and form solid educated arguments. If she pushes you it is bec she cares. Writes best letters of recommendations
ok everyone, 1 midterm, 2 quizzes, 1 final, 1 presentation followed an essay. ALL EXTREMELY EASY!! i hate political science but this has been the best class ive ever taken because of this professor. shes amazing, sincere, accessible outside of class, and the most caring and fun professor ever. GO ENROLL NOW, TRUST ME!
She scared me the first day. She has a cold sense of humor and she's not afraid to speak her mind. If you give her a hard time she will give you a hard time. She bonds with her students and overall a very good teacher. You will have good days and bad days, just come to class prepared and it will be all good days.
Witty, sharp and humble. Tremblay comes into the class with not only knowledge but also preparation and care for her students. Looking back I sometimes think she worked harder for some students to get good grades than they did themselves. Everything is transparent and open in her class. Once in a lifetime experience as many said. TAKE HER CLASSES
Im taking the class now, and it is a challenge. Yet, Tremblay has a mesmerizing spirit with a deep passion for the region, for religion and politics. Who can talk about Nasser's influence on growth of salafi elements in Saudi at 8am to a bunch of young men? Brilliant, caring and real gets the gist of the region. She is super!
Prof T is absolutely a gift at cal poly. I really didnt care for politics, i was sure i was bad at it. I dreaded my feet coming to class. Now I am counting the minutes. She is not only a witty scholar but also a caring mentor, TAKE HER CLASS, listen and act on her advice. SPEAK up, you will benefit. She is dedicated and brilliant.
She is the best! She is very passionate about teaching and political science! She gives 4 quizzes, one question and one minute to answer the question which is a vocabulary word. The midterms is exactly like the study guide. LOVE HER!!
Tremblay is one of the greatest professors I've had in my 4 years of college and I can't recommend her enough to everyone. She cares for her students and wants everyone to pass; she gives everyone the opportunity, you just have to do your part. She lets you know what will be on exams so make sure you come to class to go over breakout groups.
She is a nice lady and will help you if you need guidance but it seems like she cares too much about participation that we never get through the lectures in order to study. Also, she posts the review for the test only 24 hours before.
Worst teacher ever. Must avoid.
I took Prof Tremblay last semester and she already wrote me 4 letters of recomm. What she said in the first class "What you put in is what you get out of this class" is so true. She shines as an amazing ex of cal poly motto: we do by learning. Take her class, give your best, you will remember her passion and how the US gov works. THE BEST ever!
Easy class! Just memorize vocab ! Youll pass
Pinar is incredibly passionate about pls and she wants to instill that passion in her students, thus she is very lecture heavy and will call you out for not participating. Once you get past that she is really caring, well informed and tries to refrain from bias. Class is an easy A if you put in the time to memorize vocab and participate in class.
I loved Tremblay!
I went to class the first day thinking it will be horrible but I loved it
One of the best professors on the earth, just go to her class and enjoy the lecture, you will sure learn something.
Shes amazing I took two polysci professors before her and they were horrible.. speak/write answers from the book and shell love you. One project. Two midterms and a final. 4 quizzes that consisted of one vocab word from the chapter. Shes really out there but she makes it fun.
She is a good teacher. Bring the book to class every day, you need it. The lectures are good, participation matters. There are 4 quizzes with are vocab. She gives you the def and you have a min to write the word that belongs to that def. There is a letter to the senator. This will help your grade. Their are 2 test. There are 4 vocab and one prompt.
Professor Tremblay was an amazing professor. She truly cares for her students and will go out of her way to make sure they understand the material. Show up for class and be sure to participate because participation is a big part of this class. Don't be afraid to speak up during this class. Easy A if you show up, read, and participate.
I used to hate poli sci, but this professor literally completely changed my opinion. She is the most wise and knowledgeable lecturer that I have met at cal poly by far. She wants you to try you hardest, but she is extremely forgiving and will literally help you the whol way through. The classes were interesting and funny
absolutely superb... once in a lifetime
Professor Tremblays teaching style is not what I expected. I expected a class with simple note taking and exams. For this professor, participation is key or she will be on your case. You have to know the material before walking into lecture and participate to receive credit.
Best professor Ive taken at CPP she really cares for her students and she remembers names. If you try and put effort in youll pass she doesnt fail student just try. I would definitely take her again its not a hard class. You receive extra credit if you participate
Dr. Tremblay was one of my favorite professors ive taken at Cal Poly. Her Middle Eastern class is not a walk in the park, but I left that class with knowledge. Super sweet woman too!
There actually isn't a ton of homework, but it's up to you to do the chapter readings and her group work outside of class if you want a good grade on exams. She is a bit intimidating and you do have to come to class prepared if you want participation credit, but she takes the time to learn everyone's names and gives good examples. Quizzes are easy.
I loved this class! Dr. Tremblay intimidated me at first, but I realized it's only because she pushes us to learn and do our best. Make sure to do the reading before class so you're prepared for discussion. And always participate, even if you get the answers wrong! She'll tease you but she means well and wants you to learn. Overall, a great teacher
Prof Tremblay was a great choice for this GE imo. You can tell she is so passionate about what she teaches, which makes the class kind of difficult because she knows what she's talking about. MAKE SURE TO PARTICIPATE!! If she knows who you are, she is 10000000% nicer and more lenient to you! She is a bit intimidating, but she is a nice lady :)
truly amazing! she is the best!
Probably the best professor at CPP. She is very accessible and was extremely lenient and helpful with the change to online instruction. If you don't take her you are missing out!! There are no words to describe how amazing she is. She became a good friend of mine and she is an amazing person to talk too! Stop reading this and go take her class!!!
Her attitude can be very sarcastic and mean. Extra credit for participation and if you talk about a news piece. Quizzes on vocab. No laptops. Tests are short answers. There was a presentation. The homework was read the book and answer her questions, then get into groups and discuss them out loud.
Professor Tremblay really cares about her students and is legitimately passionate about what she teaches. Participation is a pretty big deal, so get ready to speak, and she also expects you to come to class prepared by having read the night before. Once you warm up to her as a person, she becomes a joy to listen to. Definitely take her class!
Must know all material before you come into class so you basically teach yourself. You need to participate in class for points or your grade drops. Belittles you if you don't know the answer to her question. There are 3 exams, all free response questions (all paragraph answers). Rarely replies to emails and comes off as sarcastic when she does.
Tremblay tries hard to run an engaging class. Our online sessions were one of the most organized and well-prepared classes. I am a senior and I can confidently tell you she is a real gem. She aims to help everyone. Her lectures are like tedtalks and each time you will come out real inspired. Very clear grading criteria and expectations. TAKEHER
The easiest transition to online class during covid was Tremblay. She was well-organized, caring and there at all times. She provided all lectures in advance and all expectations about the class remained the same. She goes out of her way to connect with students. Amazing prof --just listen, put in effort and talk. You will learn lifeskills. TAKEHER
Posts recorded lectures online so you can watch whenever you want. Syllabus is clear with all expectations and required work. The book is online, a bit boring! But Tremblay both inclass and online is definitely a passionate prof who loves politics. She is patient, caring and sees student's learning beyond multiple choice exams. I loved her class.
This review is for Middle Eastern politics class. Prof T cares about MEast and her students deeply. She stops her life to write letter of reference, calls for internships and jobs. DC thinktank people have come to give guest lectures. It is rich class which allows you to work at your own speed. You will enjoy and learn. Well respected scholar
Her class is easy if you show up and do the readings. She is very nice but is big about participation. If you don't like speaking during class then don't take her. Her tests are not multiple choice but are fairly easy if you study. She is overall a great professor who is passionate and really cares about her students!
She is the best teacher ever and cares for her students. Remember to study key terms and you will have one final that you will be able to pick a question and you have to answer it. The class is really fun and I love it soo much. Participate matter so I recommend taking a lot in the class when it is group discussion.
She is terrific! Cares deeply about student feedback and has been adjusting her teaching (my older sis took the class too) every semester based on student feedback. If you want stress free, well-organized, transparent classes she is the best! It isnt busy work but real thinking and interaction in her class.
I took both PLS 201 and 4460- middle eastern politics. Tremblay is a real gem, she goes out of her way to help her students academically, as well as writing letters and finding jobs. The MEast class was the probably one of my most fav 3 classes in college, simply bec i learned how to 1-present 2-design research 3- network. Must take her!
You have 4 quizzes throughout the year. You will have two midterms. She releases the literal test 24hrs prior. Do not be fooled, you must definitely put in the work to get A. She does expect effort & daily participation. Please respect her, she is an incredible middle-eastern women who worked hard to get where she is.
I absolutely love Pinar Tremblay. She is so funny and an amazing professor. She loves to call on her students and test their knowledge. Her work is not very hard at all. She really wants her students to pass. She may get frustrated when students dont read or participate but I mean what professor wouldnt. If you get the chance to taker her, do it
Taking Tremblay online. She sent a welcome email a week before classes start and the blackboard page is set. Everything seems straightforward, clear, with grading criteria. She already posted lectures, and I watched them w/o falling asleep. She is quite interesting and funny. 2 midterms are multiple choice, others are writing. Seems perfect!
best organized online class I have. Everything is clear and set on a routine. She sends weekly emails, and reminders. She is a caring person as she gave a makeup midterm for people to boost their grade- a second chance. Given everything going on with Covid she tries her best to help us. THANK YOU! i cannot recommend her enough!!
prof. tremblay is a very kind lady. she is very understanding and always checks up on the our mental health in emails. shes also great to talk to in her OHs. for her class though, i never watched the lectures or read the book. i just did the homework with the book on another tab. she only has one homework assignment a week so its very doable.
Make sure to do the all extra credit she gives at the beginning of the term, it will REALLY help later on. Caring professor, reminder emails. Understands when people have difficult situations. 2 mid terms and 1 final. HW: 1 chapter per week on inquisitive, and 3 essays. Personally not a fan of inquisitive, so it took me like 1-3 hr to finish.
The class was asynchronous, and PERFECT. The lectures were always posted ahead of the time, and multiple forms of tests were available. Prof T runs a tight ship, well-organized blackboard pages, timely reminder emails, and she has a kind caring big heart. She is human and very understanding. Just talk to her, transparent system she has. THANK YOU
She makes asynchronous learning as easy as possible. Assignments are extremely clear and concise. If you have any questions she can help you through email and zoom. She is very caring and understanding of deadlines. The only regret that I have is that I did not get to be in class to take it. Assignment work is fairly easy and tests are the same.
Best prof ever! In times of Covid, Prof T is well-organized, kind, patient and compassionate with her students. But she also is fair. 2 midterms, final and 3 media reports. She encouraged us to collaborate with classmates at all projects so i didnt feel so alone even though the class is asynchronous. Her lectures are amazing, funny and interactive.
Tremblay is always there for her students, she replies to emails and posts grades w/detailed comments, wow. Given the asynchronous situation, i wasnt sure how the class will roll, but once you get pass 2nd week, you see the routine. There are no surprises just follow the syllabus and her announcements. You re set, real easy and well-organized
Professor Tremblay's class was great! She really cares for her students and is easily accessible during her office hours. She offered extra credit and most of the assignments done through e-book. Two midterms and a final; her class was based off of points so your grade can really only go up, and not down, a total of 1000 points.
This class is fully asynchronous and quite easy. As long as you read the chapter from the book, watch the lecture video and take notes, and take the inquizitive test every week you will be fine. The inquizitive tests are very easy and you should be getting 100% on all of them. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities as well.
I loved prof Tremblay, even though it was the pandemic and we never met in person. She was always there, kind, understanding and would explain the terms i had a difficult time over and over. 2 multiple choice midterms, 3 news reports and a writing final. Lots of extra credit opportunities, she wants everyone to do well. Take her if you can!
TAKE HER CLASSES, she is a gem! Well planned syllabus and class session. from day 1 Prof Tremblay had it all organized. She is firm but understanding and kind. She was the only prof who asked about how the students are doing, and cared about our wellbeing. Her classes are interactive, engaging and making you more curious abt US gov and polisci
Nice prof but tough class. Should be getting 100% on the hw assignments (inquisitive) and 3 papers to write (easy). Had multiple-choice midterms/exams and are concept-based (kinda hard and mainly brought my grade down :/ ). Give a lot of extra credit opportunities tho.
Professor Tremblay is definitely a caring professor. In my opinion, her tests are challenging, but all other assignments are fairly simple (based on completion).
Amazing prof who allows for make up work, make up exams, late submissions (points deduced) and accommodates for your needs. The exams (multiple choice) were not difficult if you know your material, most students scored above 90%. She wants you to learn and will help you anytime you ask for help. Take her classes and seek help --if you need it
Tremblay always gives students a voice and options in her well-structured class. We were online, and attendance was voluntary. She gave extra credit for it, if you were on zoom, you were expected to be a part of the class. And thinking back, in a few weeks, these sessions became the best times of online college for me. A super scholar! Best prof!
Read the syllabus! It is long but has all the info you need for the class in detail. 3 writing assignments, weekly assessments and 2 midterms and final. It was multiple choice and quite easy. She had the stats for the class available and 65% scored above 85 in our section. Lots of extra credit, she wants you to learn and love politics. Take her!
Lectures are optional, but you can go for extra credit. The online quizzes are take until you get 100%, and they are very easy if you remember high school govt classes. If not, the answers can be found almost word for word in the attached online textbook.
Prof Tremblay wants you to learn. Her classroom is transparent and her grading is fair. You know what is expected of you before the classes start. She loves politics, you can see even over zoom, she tries hard to make a personal connection. Come to class, make friends and participate. The more you contribute the more you will learn. Just fabulous!
She was the only class i had face-to-face and it was well-worth the drive. Every session i felt like i left the mental gym after her class. We did not have 1 minute to get bored. She connects w her students and is quite funny. The whole class will LOL every class. The lectures are fascinating, the work load is fine. You learn well at the end.
Shes an awesome professor who knows so much about the Middle East especially Turkey. Guest speakers were awesome too! Her Middle Eastern politics and foreign policy class is must take for anyone trying to learn about the Middle East.
The class was hyflex. I was watched the lectures. Prof Tremblay worked with me one on one, she scheduled several hours on zoom student hours. She also wrote me a letter of recommendation. Just an amazing scholar who recorded in class and at home lectures and provided individual choices for assignments based on all her students interests. Amazing!
Initially i had a difficult time with the class, but Prof T worked with me. I was sure going to fail, she wldnt let me. When I wanted to quit, she wldnt give up on me. I cannot recommend her class enough, if you dont like politics or like politics doesnt matter at the end you will learn the system and be better for it. Amazing kind prof. THANK YOU
I understand how valuable Prof T's insistence on participation was, now that we are back on campus .She made our online learning experience fun and useful. While going through the process I failed to see how important it was to speak up, explain my point of view and interact with classmates. We are lucky to have her. Amazing lectures and guidelines
Prof T is a kind, considerate and exceptionally brilliant scholar. She tries to connect with students. Online class participation was extra credit but attending regularly i managed to raise my midterm scores from 55 to 85 then the final 95. There are three writing assignments. All from the book. She is chill but caring. Best class in my first year.
I highly recommend this class. You do have to read about a chapter before each class but everything is understandable. The quizzes were easy if you study the material she gives you. Make sure to pay attention and class and participate. Overall a 10/10.
Awful professor. She yelled at students if the wrong answer in class was given which made me afraid to answer her questions and participate in class. Attendance and participation was mandatory. Tests were hard. She hardly taught anything. Class consisted of discussion from the students which she often criticized as not in depth and very shallow.
Kind and generous professor. She wrote four letters of recommendation for me and worked with me when I had a tough time. She deeply cares abt her students and learning environment. The class requires reading -it is college but she is generous with her grades. All my friends received grades higher than expected. We did multiple choice exams
If you want a prof who will write you recomm letters for the same scholarship three times, look no further. When I was ready to quit Prof T didnt give up on me and encouraged me to apply for it, and i finally got it. She went out of her and even made calls when my application was late. I felt bad bec i didnt even study much for her class
Do you want a class where you can meet others, know what exactly is expected of you, know the deadlines and have instructions on all assignments in detail? That is the class for you. It was my second semester on campus and best class ever. Now my brother is taking the class. An experience you will remember, you have to work but it is worth it
This professor knows her material, inspirational with her lectures and advice and truly caring. If you want to learn take her. She allows students to design their work on the basis of their needs and abilities. Her classes are always engaging. I didnt think I cared much about the middle east until i took this class.
I missed several sessions in the beginning of term. I wanted to withdraw from the class, but I decided to talk to Prof Tremblay. She worked with me. She values class participation cuz she is always looking for reasons to engage you and give you a better grade. She wants everyone to do well. She even wrote me a letter of recomm. She is solid
The subject matter is a bit boring for me, but frankly her class is super fun. Two in class exams, one take home final. Two news reporting and a simple project. She focuses on the most important parts during her lectures, and encourages making friends. She is approachable and kind. I recommend.
Our class was early morning but it went so fast, she connects with her students and makes several cases as to why you will benefit about learning about political systems. It is one of the few GEs, that actually helped me get a job. She also writes great letters and always stands by her students.
Nicest professor ever she is very understanding and willing to help you succeed if you ask for help easy assignments love her class
Very kindly lady who genuinely cares about people's wellbeing. Class is pretty simple, usually consisting of lecture and an entertaining discussion. Only three tests total, and weekly assignments on Connect. If you want though, you can finish all of the assignments before book payment deadline and you won't be charged.
best prof ever. She has clear guidelines, transparent teaching style and a deep sense of humor. She tries her best to connect with her students and you can see she really cares. As others mentioned she also writes the best letters. I wish there were other classes with her.
Very caring! She gives you points for participation so I recommend showing up to class. She is willing to help you if you have a question. I recommend studying for the tests she gives out!
Super chill professor, very understanding of any problems you may have, and overall amazing experience for the class.
I have never had such a caring and sweet professor like Professor Tremblay. She is truly so kind and cares so much about her students. She makes sure everyone is understanding the material and encourages questions. I would highly recommend her. I truly felt like she cared about me as a person. 10/10
Not a good professor; implies and forced personal opinion onto the class and students which is the forefront of what NOT to do as a professor. Ruined many students mental health and is overall rude, dismissive, and has a superiority complex.
MENA class was the best in my 4 years at CPP. Tremblay's class is unique not in the content but also in the way that it is conducted. She trusts her students to choose what they want to learn, how they want to learn and reflect. She worked w/each one of us to excel. I learned so much about MENA, go Prof Tremblay!
If you have to take a GE, take this class with Tremblay. She has almost all assignments online. Caring, and witty. She learned all of our names - 60 students in class. I thought i would not go to class but each session I grew more interested, You learn a lot of practical stuff. She is superchill and interesting.
Middle East class is a MUST have on your transcript. We had guest speakers from all around the region. Her network is impressive and her ability to present complex issues in comprehensible ways is an inspiration. She is super kind and understanding. As a law school student now i say thank you Tremblay, for your class and letters of recomm.
The class is super fun with guest speakers, activities, music, culture and amazing lectures from Prof T! It was one of my fav classes at CPP, and I did not know much about M East before this class. I feel so lucky to have added this class last minute as now I can actually follow the world events much better. Take MENA class w/ Tremblay!
2 in class exams with study guides and your notes in the class, quite helpful to keep you engaged and learning. There are options for all exams and you focus on your interests, she respects student choices. In our year we had speakers from middle east, she arranged them based on student interests. Students get to design the class, it was fun
Barely any homework in PLS 2010 and almost all submitted by the end of the semester. 2 exams and a final all online and with an entire week to do it (45 minute timer, multiple choice and open note). Textbook online and she makes us read a chapter before class each week but it's easy. She highly values participation and cares about students learning
Professor Tremblay is super chill and engaging. The class is an easy GE, with two exams and a project. Attendance is mandatory, but worth the effort - Tremblay learns everyone's names and creates an interactive environment. unstuck AI was a game-changer for my study prep.
Prof. Tremblay is a fantastic and very knowledgeable professor. The class is very conversational, with VERY heavy class participation. Expect to share current events and answer questions every class. You don't have to be correct to get the points. If everyone focuses, she will cancel classes once the content is covered. Favorite professor at CPP.
Professor Tremblay gave extremely engaging lectures, which made the required participation much easier. Very few assignments, mostly online through the textbook. One essay that requires a three-minute speech, but the grading is very generous. Overall, the class is interesting and easy as long as you participate once a class and keep up w/ readings!
She's really nice. Participation matters from the very beginning, so make sure you show up to class having done the homework and understanding the material. Checkpoints and the final were open book/source so they're really easy. Overall, very understanding and motivational professor
The professor really cares about attendance, but fair amount of assignments.
She cares about her students and goes out her way to help. She is quite funny if you follow her lectures through you will see wit and wisdom. Kind, and quite generous with grades.
She is one of the kindest and most compassionate professors on campus. Even after years she will remember and help you if need letters. She runs an engaging class and really cares that her students learn. Happy to know she is still at CPP.
Took the class a few years back and I can easily say Tremblay is one of the kindest people on campus. When i needed letters even though im from engineering, she went out of her way to send several. If today I am in grad school and have funding I owe a great deal to her. She also helped a lot of people with DACA questions back then. Amazing person!
Tremblay is kind and chill. She connects with her students asks them how they are and allows for all voices to be heard in the classroom. She is flexible but also fair. She posts all grades fast and accommodates different student needs. As a DRC student she was the only one who reached out to me. I respect and value her.
Easy to follow class and lecture heavy. Exams are online (even the final) and open book/ open note/ open internet. One or two projects important to get a good grade. She's an amazing professor and very caring. She loves student participation.
Very kind and willing to help out students whenever needed. Lectures are easy to absorb and are mainly focused around participating. Gives you whole semester for work to be completed and the work is relatively easy. Wrote a personalized message (to I assume every student) on the last assignment about how the class went. Take her class when possible
took many classes online at CPP, tremblay is one of the few I remember. She is very well organized, the pages are interesting and the deadlines are flexible. She gives everyone extra credit opportunities and wants to help. It is a GE but it was fun and I learned a lot.
Took this class twice before and I can tell you for sure if you can find a spot enroll! She is kind, she cares about her students and loves politics. She is also understanding. If you face an issue just talk to her, she went out of her way to help me. She is amazing.
She is not just any professor, she is writes the best letters for all her students and follows through. I got a DoD scholarship thanks to her. She informed the class several times about jobs, internships, CPP resources. As a sophomore I had no idea all of these opportunities. Her classes are fun and engaging, and she aims to max your best. TAKE HER
One of the most knowledgable people on MENA. Taking her class changed my life, but more so was connecting with her as a mechanical engineer. She is approachable, kind and understanding. MENA class is not easy esp if you are not familiar with the region but it is holistic from the coffee beans to Sykes Picot a fascinating world.
Realistically she is the best! She has an amazing sense of humor!
