Stopped the class because I left to take a poop. How embarrassing.

Goodluck understanding him. Took the whole class period to answer one problem, still didn't get it right, the class had to correct him.
formula sheet for tests, very excited about subject and willing to help although unclear at times... a bit unorganized but we were his first class (during may session) so during the year he might be better
he is the worst teacher i have ever encountered. he is the reason i am taking cob 191 again. you cant understand him and he is so unorganized. he will work an entire problem wrong and confuse the hell out of you
Hard teacher. Cheat sheets are allowed on tests and the during the second half of the semester, all quizzes were open notes and book.
Unorganized, unclear, unfair, arrogant, throws assignments at you. Never fullfils his promises. Makes a lot computational mistakes. Hart to understand, both in writting and verbal. Worst professor I have ever encountered! Avoid him!
Professor Wang is an excellent teacher. It is sometimes difficult to understand his lectures due to his chinese dialect. He prepares you well for the final and note cards are permitted. Class is not hard. Take him.
I'm not sure why JMU ever tenured this guy. He is a perfect example of why tenure should be done away with. He's about as organized as a train wreck and can't explain anything. Makes numerous mistakes with examples and the class routinely corrects him.
Shockingly BAD.
Will probably show up late (or forget to attend) his own funeral. His "absent-minded professor" routine is getting very old.
Worst class at JMU. I can't believe that this man is on the payroll.
Shockingly bad!
A little hard to understand sometimes, but Dr. Wang is very patient and will not hesitate to spend extra time on a topic if it isn't fully understood. Has review sessions, and provides very valuable information on Blackboard. Not as bad as people say!
I'm still trying to figure out what the hell this man is saying during class. He comes across like he wants to help you and teach you. When push comes to shove, he's nowhere to be found. Always has an excuse for missing office hours, too.
horrible. most confusing professor i've ever had. class averages of 50's and 60's on tests, and he doesnt curve. dont take him unless youd like your gpa to suffer. can't understand what he says in class. doesnt clearly explain projects. doesnt write his own tests, and messes up the ones he uses.
One of the very few who have a brilliant mathematical mind and yet doesn't realize the vast majority of us do not. Unless you were given a mind geared for math, the very best you can do in this class is a C, his syllabus even tells you that. The tests and the book are completely foreign to eachother
Prof. Wang is extremely intelligent but the class is really hard. Give him credit though he listens to the students VERY much to try to improve his class and takes feedback 100%, if you want multi choice next test it will be, etc...hard grade, hard class, good teacher
Not the sharpest bulb in the COB box. Always blames his Chinese-English for why he drops the ball -- and he drops the ball quite often. I learned most everything from reading the textbook. Good luck if you have this man for anything!
really knows his stuff
Great Professor! Don't listen to the last few ratings. He really knows his stuff and is totally willing to help you if you are nice and show interest. Don't be a jerk and he'll love you! Great man!
At first I was convinced he was the worst professor. However, after getting to know him, you will find out that he works really hard at what he does. His classes aren't the clearest, but he will try to help you. A relatively easy grade if you have a good math mind. Overall, he's just a nice guy.
hard material, but a good teacher. he will help you if you need it. there are many assignments so if you do then you get credit. ping is a nice guy and if you ask him he will explain it to you.
its a good idea to know how to use excel BEFORE you take this class
Ping is one of the most caring, intelligent, and helpful profs i have encountered. He is Chinese so there is a slight language barrier to get past. But he really will do all he can to help you. Do your work for him and put in effort and you will get the grade that you want. Tests are hard, study!
Definitely one of my favorite professors here. I have never met a professor who cared so much about his students. All those bad ratings are from people who were lazy and unwilling to do work. Put a little effort into it and he will apprecaite it. PLENTY of bonus points!!
extremely intelligent, but HORRIBLE TEACHER. Unless you have already taken statistics, you will NOT pass, trust me! DO NOT TAKE!!!! 33% of his students dropped out within the first week! HELL!!!!
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER! NO NO!! YOU WILL FAIL IT! You can't understand him at all. He might be smart but He doesn't know how to teach. Homework is TOO much also! Even if you have taken Stats before with this teacher YOU WILL FAIL!!! Don't Take!
Pretty hard teacher, at times is tough to understand, if you do all the homeworks though and study from the practice tests you should be able to pull off a B.
Caution! "Working hard" and "caring" does not equal good teacher!
One word: "DISORGANIZED"
Very helpful teacher, difficult to understand at first, but he is pretty much a normal professor and there shouldnt be a problem getting a decent grade if you do the work, hes leniant, thats pre tty much
I took this guy for my may semester and ended up getting a B, and from what I hear, thats the way to do it. He's kinda of hard to understand, but very forgiving, especially if you keep pressure on him when you think he's made a mistake. A breeze for a one month class, but I don't think I could handle him for more then that.
This guy gives the business school a bad name. He has no idea how to teach, has to constantly be corrected, doesn't understand the material in his own class, is completely unorganized and confused about what he is doing. He tries to appease his students

This class is very difficult and he has a language barrier. His exams are very difficult but STUDY! He is very helpful, if you go to him during office office he will help you! He gives back points when makes mistakes-which is alot. MAKE FRIENDS with him and you will make it.
He is a very nice guy but I have a hard time understanding him and which is bad news on top of understanding stats. Online quizzes all the time which he doesn't remind you about. cheat sheet for tests but they're still very hard.
cheat sheet on tests. lots of pointless online quizzes and homework is pointless. attendance policy cuz he'd rather you sleep in his class than not be there. 30 bonus points for coming to class. he's a bit challenged with English, but is nice and means really well. do the hw, read, and form a study group if you have trouble.
Cannot understand a word he says. examples are unclear. homework and quizes pointless. but as long as you read the text you can get an A.
tough to understand, gives a lot of extra points here and there. He realizes he is difficult to understand, but he does a try to help you out with curving tests and such.
His English isn't very good because he's Chinese.I don't think any American can speak Chinese well either. But he's trying his best to help u get a better grade.Cheating sheet helps me a lot,his test is not that triky,no time limits in test,he gives u lots xtra credits. If u smart, work harder, take notes, read text,do his quizs, you can get a B at least
It's true that students don't know Chinese. Of course, we're not trying to go to China to teach Statistics. It makes me mad when my tuition dollar is used to pay for professors who I can't understand. NOT AN EXCUSE! WASTE OF MONEY! I'll take it over at Community College this summer. Shame on you JMU!
we have cheat sheet that helps a lot.He sometimes make mistakes on his tests so everybody gets xtra points.I got an A though,so I think he is not that horrible as the person said.I'm not Chinese, but I like him.
Ping is not a very good teacher, he makes a hard subject even harder to learn. He really does have the students back's though. I thought he was really helpful untill i got mono, missed a month of school and on my second day back he made me take a test. Extremely by-the-book, really left a bad impression towards the end. Tests are IMPOSSIBLE.
Cute man, bad teacher. The school should not hire someone who can barely speak english. His quizzes online are easy b/c you can take them as many times as you want (and the homeworks are easy too, he posts the answers ahead of time) but in general the class is hard because he is hard to understand.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. get the F out!!!! wait until another semester to take this class if he is the only option left. taking this class is the worst mistake i've ever made.
i sleep in class everyday but still manage to get a 97% ? take him theres lot 60-70extra credit
Ping Wang is the definition of horrible. I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from him if at all possible. His tests are near impossible and his voice is distracting. You'll often find yourself attempting to understand his English, as opposed to understanding the material. Did I mention that his tests are incredibly difficult? Ex: Avg = 56%
this is the most unclear teacher at jmu. he spends 90% of class going over the easiest sections and then rushes through the difficult parts the last 10 or 15 minutes. DO NOT TAKE HIM ITS GPA SUICIDE!!! he cant speak english.
Ping is the man! Funny guy, but tests are next to impossible and lots of hw. If you haven't taken a stat class before, i recomend you don't take him, not that he's bad, but just hard to understand and also confuses me through his teaching. Ask him to say "city blocks" for a good laugh
Definitely one of my favorite teachers. Alot of people are doing bad but I barely study for the tests and averaged a 95% on his first two tests. He is very helpful, and lets students attend any of his classtimes (I am in the 9:30 but always attend the 3:30). His English is bad, yes, but listen and you'll get it. I reccomend him strongly!!!
Here's the truth about Ping Wang. The first 2 weeks of class, you'll think you've died and gone to hell. You'll contemplate suicide. However, if you sit in class and pay attention, he'll begin to grow on you. Soon you won't even notice his accent. Take him. He's an awesome teacher. I suck at stat, but have an A. Don't drop out, its not worth it!
Ping, first off, is a nice man. His class is very tough. Through his class you definitely learn how to study for classes. Tests are very tough, but if you study the old tests and quizzes it's do-able. When he tries to pronounce a word with a 'C' it sounds like an 'S.' so I dare someone to ask him to say 'City.' my class had a good laugh over it.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!! this class is so incredibly difficult, switch out now before it is too late, unless u are prepared to spent 6 hours a day teaching yourself the information because you will NOT learn it from him. He doesnt even speak english
Ping is so funny, he is the man! But his class is very hard, his tests are immposible and there is entirly to much homework. Attendance is mandatory and he takes 20 points off of ur grade every class you miss. He is very hard to understand becuz his english is not very good. u don't learn anything during class, u basically have to teach yourself.
Knows math tremendously well. Somewhat hard to understand. But if you put forth effort you can easily manage a B.
One of the sweetest professors at JMU. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. His english can be tough to understand. He tends to brush over material, but if you don't understand he is more than happy to help you ANYTIME. Studying quizzes/homework before tests helps. AWESOME 30 points (YOU WANT IT) for perfect attendance.
Listen, I am not the type of person to give a person straight 1's if they don't deserve it. But Ping Wang is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I would study literally 30 or more hours for every test and not do well on any of them. When he offered students to drop his class free of penalty half way through the year, around 84% of
Terrible teacher, impossible to comprehend, barely speaks english. The class was incredibly hard considering you have to teach the material to yourself. Test are very hard and incredibly long (@ 2 hours). I suggest you dont take him.
With any teacher you have for 191, the class will be hard. Wang assigns a lot of homework and projects but the points raise your grade about 1 letter. The assignments takes a lot of time and it does help you understand the difficult material. His English is just OK but you'll get used to it. Roughly 1/3 of the class has to drop. Tests are hard!
The 1st few wks. of class is horrible, but once you get past that part of the semester it gets a lot better. His English really isn't that hard to understand. Yes, the class is a lot of work but it creates easy points that bring your grade up significantly. The tests aren't that bad, either, as I have an A in the class. I love Ping - he's so funny!
Sure he has an accent and can be hard to understand, but he gives TONS of bonus points and as long as you go to class everyday you're in for at least a B.
There is no doubt that you will be hating life for the first few weeks. Chances are you won't do to well on the first test and you'll be scared. But Believe it or not it is definitely still possible to get an A in this class and I am proof. TONS of extra credit and you cant really help but learn. Stick with it and chances are you'll come out ok
This class is not that difficult. He is not that hard to understand. All you have to do is read the book and do the practice problems to understand it. Get a cheat sheet on every test-use it but tests really aren't that hard if you understand stuff. Do all the work and its graded for completion. Not hard to get an A-go to all classes!
He is without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. He is very difficult to understand. The class is so boring that everyone in the class either talks or just goes to sleep. I attempt to pay attention but it is just impossible. Tests are hard and a lot of work is assigned. There are many projects and long assignments
hes nice but his class is not easy at all.
Extremely hard class! He has a strong accent so it makes the classroom hard. He does not teach material completely and the book is different. Take this class with another professor! He gives no direction on any of his assignments especially projects. Lots of busy work that is time consuming and barely worth anything. Do not take!!!
Nice,Nice,Nice guy.But Horrible prof.Doesn't speak clearly and has a deep thick Chinese accent. The class is hard and half of the class had to drop out.I would strongly advise not take this class, my advisor screwed me over by telling me to work my way through it.Really nice guy, but shouldn't be teaching. He would be a great elem school bus driver.
Very hard to understand and not very helpful.
It was a tough course so dont miss class! DO THE HOMEWORK and go to office hours. Ping is a great teacher and if you put in the time and effort he will make it worth your while. If you choose to be lazy and not ask questions then you wont do well.
Dr. Wang is easily one of the best professors I have had at JMU. I did poorly in 191 but I had a great experience with him in the summer for 291. If you come ready to work, he will help you a great deal. A lot of people are quick to complain but if you are willing to put some effort into the class, not only will you learn something, he will help!
Ping is a good guy and a teacher who cares about his students, he just takes a little while to get used to. Took 291 this summer which is best so you can concentrate on just this class. It is a lot of work, but using the online examples helps...the practice tests he uses are exactly the same, he just changes the numbers, so make sure to use them.
Difficult class. Teaches very fast and requires you to listen to tutorials outside of class to learn the subject. He tells you that you will work harder for grades worse than you've ever received. Told the class that half of them needed to drop out. If you can get another professor I would, if not just be prepared to make 291 your life!
worst professor ever! I saw him walk into his office once before a test and I went to ask him a question and he acted like he wasnt there. Gave tests on Mon/Weds when I had a Tues/Thurs class. Had mandatory review on a sunday. Class average for 2nd test was a 52. Horrible long homework. Can't understand what he says. Poorly worded questions on test
Best teacher I ever had! I learned how to speak chinese also! Hola!
It's obvious Professor Wang knows his stuff, but he absolutely fails at getting it across to his students. This is evidenced by the vast majority of the class dropping out. He does have helpful links on Blackboard, but they only help so much. Don't take him for 291 if you aren't prepared to sacrifice all of your other classes to get a good grade.
yes about 2/3's of the class dropped. also, you MUST find someone in the class that is motivated AND smarter than you if you want to succeed. BUT he gives review tests that are extremely similair to the actual tests.. and a good amount of extra credit. you dont learn anything in class but attendance is mandatory.
AHHH! I have never worked harder for a class that means nothing to me. The homeworks are ridiculous! The tests are awful! I know 291 isn't a fun class but come on!!!!! geeze.....
He is by far the worst teacher ever. All he does is ruins your life for a semester and cruches your gpa at the same time. Do not take him under any circumstances, even if that means not graduating on time. He is absolutely terrible.
How does he still have a job???? Simply mumbles incoherently all class and points at a power point. Was failing his class but have an A now with a diff professor. Literally the worst teacher I've ever taken. No Ping...it's not "ok guys!"
Don't worry - he'll soon be promoted to administration. He'd probably make a good dean (based on what I've seen of other deans).
Come on people, this is college. Yes the class is hard, and you're going to have to teach yourself a lot of the material. He has all of his lectures on Blackboard so you can watch them as many time as you need to. I gotta a B+ in his class. Put some effort into it.
His class is hard, and yeah there's a lot of homework, but you can get through it. You have to teach yourself a lot of the material, but he offers weekly study groups and 6% extra credit throughout the semester. Tests are difficult but you can make a 1 page cheat sheet with whatever you want on it.
This is a hard class, no matter which professor you have. Dr.Wang seems to have a lot of knowledge in the subject area and he is very lenient on the homework grades. His tests are very similar to the sample review tests and A is manageable if you work hard. Also, he is trying hard to help students to achieve.
Prof Wang is easily the worst COB teacher. He doesn't speak very good english and cannot spell very well. Many of his students say they teach their way through the course which is not the reason I came to JMU. The fact that he has been here for 30 years and still has a job is amazing. Even more amazing is that he still cannot spell.
cannot understand him in class, and can't read his handwriting either...it's a hard class, get ready to work
OK, So the class is hard, but the quizzes you have are online so you can take them with people. Homework, well make sure that you do it but he doesnt really care when u turn it in. I thought the tests were really hard but you need to show a lot of work which I didnt do. He gives u the grade u deserve @ the end of the semester so just work hard.
Oh Ping! This class is very, very difficult. Ping Wang is more difficult than many of the other 291 teachers, but he really wants his students to do well. There is tons of work, especially in the beginning, so get started on it early. Find a partner to do the work with and help each other stay motivated This really makes all the difference.
Very tough class, but even a tougher professor. i would avoid him unless you want to feel like you are working a second job by just trying to maintain a C in his class
Ping Wang is a very nice person. Unfortunately, you will never get to meet him because you will avoid this class at all costs! Unreasonable homework and lectures that don't match up with hw/quizzes is the story of this class. If you are in his class, take the practice tests over and over and USE the formula sheet! Good luck..you'll need it ha!
terrible. i needed this class to get into cob 300 and i dropped after a week. i tried, i really tried to keep up with him...on day one but i couldnt. the class will drop within a week and i heard that if u stick with him for over a week ull do ok because he can help u one on one more. idk i dropped and took ratcliffe during maymester. do that
Ping Wang is an awesome guy. Difficult to understand some of the time but all and all he's great. Tests are long and pretty hard but he gives you old exams to study from which makes it a lot easier, plus he's very helpful. I worked hard in this class and pulled off an A, it is not nearly as awful as everyone makes it sound.
Ping is a great guy. He truly wants his students to do well. Having said that his class was a new level of difficult. If you can teach yourself then you might be able to make it. Be prepared for frustration and the general feeling of not wanting to be there. However, you just cant help but to like him.
My worst class by far, he's a nice guy and has GREAT stories, but when it comes to teaching I struggle to follow him, I am constantly failing his tests, and I highly recommend you find another teacher if you can
I desperately tried to drop this class after I failed the second exam miserably. Thankfully, I wasn't able to &ended up getting a B+ in his class. After Exam 2, he gives TONS of extra credit assignments, including a 30 points just for not missing a class. This class is pretty hard, but Ping is awesome and if you do the extra credit, you'll do fine.
291 is a tough class, so if ur not prepared to do work, no matter who u have, it will be a struggle. Getting over Ping Wang's accent isn't hard, but u may have to teach urself the material. Class is tough, but the final is much easier for Ping Wang
Hard to understand and goes through material really fast.
He is a really cool guy, but his accent makes it really hard to understand him. Attendance is mandatory, but on the plus side, you get 30 bonus points for having perfect attendance. If you take his class be prepared to do a lot of work. When he tells you how hard his class is at the beginning of the year, it is completely true. Be prepared.
be prepared! 291 is tough but it is not ping's fault! ping really tried to make you understand those materials. he really made effort to the course. there will be huge sum of HW!! but doing these HWs will be really helpful. the sample tests are really important. and if you never miss a class, he will give you 30 points...out of 1000. good luck
Didn't prepare us for the final exam but gives PLENTY of grades and EXTRA CREDIT to soften the blow. The course is by far the hardest COB before COB300.
His accent is hard to understand. The material is hard, but he doesn't make it any easier. Yes he gives extra credit, but it didn't help ME too much. He's very unorganized and doesn't seem to answer our questions well when asked. My advisor said he got better? psh! yeah right! He's awful. This class made me cry! LITERALLY
Why not use the textbook and tell us more about the concepts?
Let me start by saying, Don't get Ping Wang. But oh no, it seems you've got him? Here's how to survive: 1. do all the busy work. You'll teach yourself and get the cushion points. 2. follow his silly rules. It's not worth arguing. You can't win. 3. get perfect attendance. Not that you'll learn in his class, but it gives you a bonus at the end.
GET A NEW TEACHER. Ping Wang is a very nice guy but the amount of work is ridiculous. I spent 8 hours some days just doing homework. Tests are absolutely ridiculous as well. No shot of getting an A or B unless you don't leave the library all semester. Oh yeah, you'll have to teach yourself everything
He tries to teach but has a strong Chinese accent that makes it difficult to understand. There are 3 tests and a final with lots of homework that is often unnecessary. Try to get a different professor but if you have him make sure to do the blackboard quizzes. They are a big help
Ping Wang's class was extremely work intensive. you easily have anywhere form 24-32 hours of work a week, about 6 hours a day and its all just buys work. If you get ping wang and cant seitch, do all the blackboard, mystatlab and extra credit and be sure to stay after and ask silly questions cause he will help you in the end with grades if y0u do
Really nice guy, really bad professor. Accent isn't as awful as people say, but he is very unorganized and assigns WAAAAAYY more work than is necessary. Not a difficult class, but he makes it harder than it has to be. STAY AWAY!
Attendance is mandatory. There's a bunch of online quizzes, but if you ask for help, you'll be fine. I had Bs on all four tests, but got a final A- thanks to the homework and mystatlab problems. Go to his office hours and study sessions. His accent is absolutely understandable, but sometimes he is quite disorganized and hard to follow.
This class is really hard in general so it isn't just him. You get used to him and know what to expect after the first test. There is a lot of work BUT he really values your feedback of what he could do better to help you learn. You get 30 extra points for perfect attendance so there's your saving grace for this class.
He is a very nice and helpful professor. Although his classes have lot of homework, it help you learn and study well. I recommend you to take his class.
2 weeks in and needless to say I'm already lost.
A really helpful professor. He cares about student so much. He posts so many videos online to help to complete this hard class. Many homework but quite easy test. Take him.
Tough class, attendance mandatory but hardly any point in going to learn something (20 points bonus for perfect attendance though). Just keep up with homework, work hard on weekends, watch his terrible videos, and most importantly...PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL!! Tricky test questions, failed the 2nd test despite knowing most everything.
I love professor Wang. He is so genuine and wants you to succeed. His classes score the highest on the final so he prepares you really well. Always available for help, extremely approachable, I would take him again if I could. I've taken him for both 191 and 291 and I wouldn't have taken anyone else. Do the homework and put in the effort for 291.
Tough to get over the language barrier but Ping is actually pretty funny. He posts almost every topic he goes over as a video on Canvas. Just go over all of those videos and its pretty easy to do fine.
Ping is not the worst professor I have ever had but he made a basic COB course difficult because of the challenging language barrier. I would not take this class again even though there are plenty of bonus points. Smart person but should not teach.
Mr. Wang is a very nice man. That being said, this class is one of those where the alphabet is taught and Shakespeare is expected. The workload is constant like you're not supposed to have other classes. The man just narrates answers. Explanations are based on the assumption that you know absolutely everything. Do not take him.
A bunch of extra credit. Prof. Wang is really helpful and wants his students to succeed. It may be hard to understand him because of his accent. But he is a funny guy!
Hard to understand and has a tendency to go off on lectures that makes it hard to pay attention. Fair grader. Hard to understand.
Take him ! tons tons tons of extra credit. He loves his students and always be there to help. Do homework and you are probably gonna ace it. Go to Pass section and its really helpful.
Ping Wang is EXTREMELY hard to understand. He speaks very fast and in a deep accent which makes paying attention to him nearly impossible. The grade is a hard to come by unless you are the type that learns from the book anyway.
He is hard to understand. Its more of a foreign language at first.
He is not organized one who you may expect from you professor. He did not cover lots of stuffs he should explain during the class. He rather uploads lecture videos online and expects you to study by them. If you were good at studying by yourself, take him. Good luck!
Not a very clear teacher AT ALL. He makes the class hard for no reason with tons of assignments. I spent almost 8+ hours a day on this class and it still wasn't enough!! His tests are full of confusing grammatical errors and NOTHING like his yellow book. STAY AWAY. If you want to teach yourself ALL the material for this class, take him.
Ping Wang is the absolute man. You probably won't learn anything directly from him in class, but go to PASS sections and do the course pack and you'll do fine. He give's so much extra credit that it's worth taking his class, even though you may not understand him. I failed a test and still had an A. He also has a killer sense of fashion.
291 in general is a hard class. He is very fair with grading, an 80% on a test is an A. If you decide to take him make sure to form a study group as soon as possible it helps. I currently have a 97% with not to much work. Just understand the material and you will do fine.
I dont know why people have problem with him. He is the nicest professor in JMU, he is always there if you need helf. He will talk to you until you get it. Tons of extra credit, all you need to do is listen to him in class and do the course book. If you dont know how to it, Pass section is the bestttt. Take him !!!! Plus, he is funny.
I LOVE PING WANGGGG
CoB 291 is a really hard class in general but Ping Wang wants all his students to succeed. He gives so much extra credit and is always willing to help you understand better. His accent makes him difficult to understand but if you go to PASS sessions and put the work in, you should have no problem getting at least a B. Plus, he's super hilarious
Ping wang is a good guy but an awful teacher. I'm finishing his class not knowing anything. You may get extra credit, but you learn absolutely nothing. His accent isn't bad but it's hard to understand what he expects from you. I missed one class and because of that, I lost all extra credit, probably going to fail... AVOID.
Ping curves his tests by one letter grade. I got a 107 on the first exam, 80 on the second, and 68 on the third, and 68 on the final. Yet I still ended up with an A-. He gives so much bonus points that I think he is worth taking. You wont get a better grade with another teacher. Loves to swim
Hardest thing I have ever done. Can't understand what he is saying, concepts are very hard to grasp, and tests are near impossible. Nice man but 3 tests and a final that almost everyone fail. Studied for 3 weeks for one test and i got a 52. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
291 is the hardest prereq for the business school no matter your professor. I am SO thankful i took Ping Wang. He is not the best teacher but you will get the best grade with him. He's confusing so you have to teach yourself alot but with the extreme amounts of extra credit, you'll be fine. Ended up with 103% in the class by the end. Take him.
Professor Wang was the worst professor I have ever had. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.
Ping Wang is the sweetest man in the entire world. Although very hard to understand (accent) and follow, he gives you so many opportunities and insane amounts of extra credit for you to get a good grade. He genuinely wants to see his students succeed and is such a likable person. I really ended with a B+ but he bumped me up to an A-... TAKE HIM.
Anyone who says Ping Wang is a bad professor didn't try in his class. It is a VERY tough class, but with all the extra credit he gives and a lot of hard work, it's very doable. Just do every homework and go to ALL PASS sessions. I got 83-88 on the three tests, failed a lot of the in class quizzes, and got a B.
Really difficult to understand (accent), very tough class. But he gives a lot of extra credit.
The tests are way too hard but he is a great guy. He gives a lot of extra credit but there is SO much work in this class. I would not take him again but I would recommend getting to know him if you don't because he is a great and caring guy.
Ping Wang is a mixed bag. He's honestly a super nice guy, but sometimes his accent makes him hard to understand what he's saying. Personally I liked him as he was quirky and funny but I totally would understand if someone didn't like him. Other sections tend to get a higher grade though.
Ping is a really geniune guy and just wants you to care, but he is all over the place. He isn't very organized and he doesn't speak english clearly. The homework helps somewhat but he continuously brings up how you should drop if you don't do well on the exams and its kind of discouraging. He is there for office hours but he just confuses more.
Ping Wang is hard to understand, and the material is difficult. But he cares a lot about your grade so if you just put in work it doesn't matter if you understand it or not. I was on track to get a D and he gave me a B because of the extra credit. It's hard, but achievable.
Ping Wang is a great teacher. He keeps the lectures entertaining and he knows what he's doing. He teaches in a way you can understand, and he doesn't grade heavily. There's a lot of work, but also a lot of extra credit opportunities. If you can get past the strong accent, I would recommend him.
Worst teacher I've ever taken at JMU. Tells you all the time "if you don't understand material drop the class". Probably told my section to drop the class over 20 times already. Does not care if you succeed. Doesn't help outside of class. I asked if I could meet with him to work on problems for the test and he said it won't help me. DO NOT TAKE!
Avoid and don't recommend. Extremely hard professor for cob 291. Tests are hard and as well as quiz.
Please do NOT take this class. He is perhaps the worst professor in the COB program. The tests are impossible and he does not prepare you for the in-class quizzes either. Everything I learned was from the PASS Sessions.
Yes he does give extra credit, no it is not enough to make up for difficulty. Take other professors for 291. Tests make up 75% of final grade. Missing class loses any bonus credit which is very helpful. Try and take someone else if you can. Doesn't give + or - grades, just flat letters.
Havent got my final grade back yet but these are the 3 keys to the class 1. Push through to the final 2^. Make connections in the class know as many people as possible 3. Pray also dont bomb test 1 its there to help ur grade
Ping Wang is the hardest 291 professor at JMU. His tests are hard, but he prepares you well for the departmental final. He likes to see students push themselves and work hard. Take his class seriously, and go to the pass session. He gives extra credit for each pass session you go to. Also, fill out the course pack. It helps you A LOT
This class messes with your head. Would consistently just laugh at how impossible this class is. In class quizzes every week that everyone fails, long projects and online quizzes. The tests are so hard and never make sense. I got a B but I have no idea how. if you take this man, go to every class and pass session to get as much extra credit as poss
If you take him do NOT take any other hard classes, he says it all the time. "you will fail if you don't spend at least 3 hours a day studying and working on problems." Very tough and confusing grading scale, get every extra/bonus point possible, go to office hours, and take the course very seriously. His accent is pretty difficult to understand!
WORST PROFESSOR I have had at JMU. His tests are extremely hard and as well as his quizzes. Highly recommend to take this class with other professor.
Not a cool a guy. Horrible teacher.
Some of his suggestions help me a lot, but his lecture, canvas and course pack are so confusing, especially his problems in the exams. If you have any question about the problem in the exam, he refuses to answer any questions. Sometimes his wording problems is a serious problem. And his resources are so old. he's even using the problem in 2008.
Horrible Prof. Very tough grader- right answers that dont show his formulas are wrong, little details can eliminate 50% of a questions credit. Course Pack is the entire class, but it's a joke since he posts answers online. Extra credit does nothing. Went to every class AND PASS session but the way he words his tests are horrible. dont recommend him
Ping Wang is an extremely nice guy. He really wants you to do well and gives you the resources to do well if you put in the time. Hard to follow during class, but much better than many alternative professors for 291. Take him, but do all your work and go to Pass sessions, his extra credit helps. Always accessible and he is a hard worker.
Don't be a soft and you'll do just fine
Ping Wang does not lecture well. He expects you to work on mystatlab, the course pack, online quizzes, excel projects (which you must provide hard copies for), in class quizzes (assessing what you have gone over that day in class so you must understand the material as it comes to you), and tests. The workload is enormous. Very unorganized professor
If you have the option to not take him, take it because this dude will hurt your GPA and confidence that you can succeed in college, tests are hard and he is awful at teaching your best bet is to find a TA that knows what they're doing.
Please, if you do anything at JMU, do not take this guy. No matter what class you take him for, his curriculum seems almost designed for you to fail. Hes actually a nice guy, just one of the worst professors i've ever encountered. Very stubborn. 191 was damn near impossible with him. Can't even imagine 291.
The only way you pass this guys class, is by attending EVERY SINGLE study session. Those alone can bump you up a full letter grade. Also do the mystatlab as best you can, that helps too. Tests are almost a lost cause, expect a C or lower no matter how much you study.
Ping does try to care for students and is smart, but at the end of the day, he assigns more work than you can keep up with. I was in 3 other classes (12 credit semester) and still had trouble keeping up. I went all semester thinking I had a C to find out I had a 69.33% that would not be bumped up/ improved for any reason. Not clear ab anything.
Such a nice guy but not the best teacher. One of the hardest professors I've had. Teaches a lot and teaches it very quickly. Tests are extremely hard, questions aren't clear and what he teaches in class is not the same as tests. If you could take another teacher, do it!
Dr. Wang is a very nice guy, but his class is ridiculous. You will learn close to nothing and his tests seem to mimic a Graduate class's difficulty. I do not think I gained any real knowledge during the semester. Half the class dropped and I do not blame them. Don't even bother trying to understand his canvas page. Good luck.
Honestly the worst professor I have ever taken.
Difficult material but professor Wang makes it even more difficult to understand. Grade is calculated mostly by Tests but still assigns meaningless online assignments.
He's a hilarious guy, but as a professor? You have better options. The only reason you should take Wang is for the extra credit opportunities. I took him for 191/291, and the extra credit kept my GPA from sinking. You definitely have to teach yourself the material b/c his lectures make no sense. He's a rather easy grader though, so that's a plus
Lowkey funniest teacher at JMU. However, you have to teach yourself (work w/ classmates) for most of material. Gives a ton of extra credit, but the tests are designed so that you have to do decent on them to pass. Helps to be good at math or you will have very limited free time. Not your worst option for teachers whatsoever though. Txtbook req.
You wont get much from the lectures. If you want to pass you need to watch all of the instructional videos he posts online and take notes of those. Basically the lecture he gives is just complimentary to what you have to learn yourself. You still should go to class because you get a lot of extra credit for going to every class.
Makes the material so much harder than it has to be. Great guy but very very bad professor. Save yourself the trouble and take it with someone else
hes not bad people just hate studying for harder classes lol. anyways hes a really great guy and studying definitely wont hurt.
Really nice guy. Lots of extra credit opportunities and he wants you to do well. Can be difficult to understand in lecture so if you dont have much time outside of class then this may not be for you but I enjoyed it.
The professor really loves what he does and gives plenty of examples relating the textbook concepts to the real world. If the homework he assigns is completed, there isn't really much reason why you shouldn't get a decent grade. He's a very sweet and cute old guy who encourages group work to learn material better.
The key to passing this class is making a great cheat sheet (which he allows) before the exams and doing all the extra credit he offers as the semester progresses.
I honestly would not even call Ping Wang a professor. He is intelligent and thinks that his students are on the same level. He offers literally no guidance on projects and lectures are essentially useless. Unless you can 100% teach yourself everything, this class will suck. He offers extra credit if you go to pass sessions 3x a week on top of class
His lectures are useless but his class is not impossible! You get extra credit for going to pass and extra credit on exams. Do the course pack problems over and over and read the textbook. It'll teach you, in text, everything he attempts to teach in class (but in a more understandable way). 2 words: Teach Yourself!
His lectures aren't the most helpful, but when it comes to the tests, learn the coursepack. His tests are very similar to that. He can be hard to understand at times, but he cares and wants you to succeed. If you're willing to put in the work, getting a good grade isn't impossible. Just do the coursepack.
not awful. do the course pack and go to pass session, very helpful for tests. lectures can be boring/not helpful, online hw doesn't make much sense. if you do good on tests and show effort, you will get a good grade. curves a decent amount (I finished with 79% on canvas and got A-). just show effort and do course pack and the class isn't too bad
Ping Wang is the most laid back and easy grading professor I have had at JMU. The full front and back page cheat sheet for all tests is game changing and the tests follow the course pack identically. I have a 98 and all I have studied was the course pack, also has lots of extra credit opportunities
Ping is a very sweet guy but doesn't teach well. I don't think I got higher than a 60 on any of his tests after studying for weeks. You definitely have to teach yourself and grind for a good grade. Had a 88 in canvas but somehow ended with a C. Prepare to be constantly frustrated and feel stupid.
Dude is pretty cool but he doesn't teach anything. He steps in front of the class and reads an example of a problem he already solved. He doesn't tell you what anything means or how he got there, he just throws topics at you and expects you to know them. Tests and gradings are confusing af too. Pretty cool dude, but not a teacher.
From the start, Professor Wang is clear that you have to take his classes seriously and to not fall behind. I will admit that his teaching style is not the best, but he gives amazing resources outside of class to ensure that you can teach yourself. Most who struggled didn't bother to look at the coursepack or mystatlab until last minute.
Ping Wang cares about his students a lot and he's a really smart guy. You have to take this class seriously from day one.
Lectures are hard to follow. Outside resources like the textbook and youtube videos he posted were the only way I learned the material. If you go to every class he bumps your grade at the end of the semester.
Ping Wang has a problem writing his own test questions in a way that makes any sort of sense. This is a severe problem in a stats course in which understanding the question is essential for calculations. Do not take this class it is so bad.
What can I say about Ping Wang that hasn't already been said. Is his accent hard to understand? Yes. Does he teach the concepts and formulas in the most confusing way possible? Maybe. But you can't say his kids didn't run in during class one time. In all seriousness you can teach yourself through the homework if you put the time in.
Professor Wang is a very friendly guy. He tries his best to help everyone pass, but he has a lot going against him. His accent is pretty strong and the material is presented in a very uninteresting way. For those looking to take his class, make sure to learn everything from MyStat. I wouldn't take him online again, but maybe in person.
Ping is a good person but he just can't teach. His test is nothing like the lectures and you basically teach yourself. He is not a good teacher.
Very knowledgeable but one of the worst profs for 291. Go to the PASS session if you want any chance if passing. Exam questions are impossible to understand, and the lectures are hard to follow. No doubt he is very talented and smart but his ability to teach is terrible, especially for how much time and money this class costavoid at all cost.
Overall not a bad professor. He's very caring and has the best intentions for his students, but sometimes can confuse students during lectures. I found the coursepack and MyStatLab to be the most useful tools in the class, so as long as you can successfully solve problems on those you should be fine. Gives good curves and has your best interest.
Terrible teacher in my opinion. He has grammar errors on the tests, his grading scale is awful and your tests are significantly harder then others. Just don't go with Wang.
Tests are impossible no matter how hard you study, even with a cheat sheet. Lectures are boring and confusing. Very nice guy but you have to teach yourself in this class there is no other way.
not the best could be worse. all professors for this class suck but you can get used to his teaching style. he offers random extra credit and curves exams. he's a funny guy and he definitely cares about his students and wants them to do well but is hard to follow sometimes. after the first week I thought I was gonna fail but now I have an A-
Id leave a lower rating but I cant. Let me just say when I picked him I saw all of the messages saying he was bad but gave him a chance. What a mistake ended up withdrawing from the class. He gives projects with no instructions. He also made fun of my class because our test average was a 58 for the first test. Rather switch my major than have him
dude. do not take this man. avoid at all costs. my entire class is failing and no one knows what is going on. His lectures make no sense.
Ping Wang is caring, compassionate, and obviously very smart. That being said, by far one of the worst professors at JMU. The subject material isnt too bad, but the way he words his test are impossible to understand, his lectures are very fast paced yet somehow tedious and his thick accent obviously doesnt help. Had to teach myself everything
Everything is in broken English and he really doesnt explain anything too well. I look around my class and far too often we are collectively confused. Hes a great guy tho
Professor Wang is a nice person. That said this is the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Plenty of people are failing and he will be the reason a lot of these kids switch majors and change career paths. This class is supposed to be business analytics, but instead it feels like I have signed up for a rocket science class. Avoid at all cost
I love him so much. The material and the course in general is just challenging. He really tries his best to make sure you succeed and is always more than willing to help. He is one of the sweetest professors ever and does not get enough credit. Literally all you need to pass is the course pack. Just study it!!
Can't understand a word through mask and my entire class was lost for the entirety of every lecture. Barley knows how to use canvas and in a class where wording is extremely important, he had grammatically incorrect attempts at questions on his exams. Asked multiple questions in class and he would answer with something unrelated to what i asked.
I really like Ping Wang as a person and he cares about his students, but this class was incredibly frustrating. You will have to teach yourself everything because his lectures are confusing and assignments are disorganized. He teaches topics that require prior knowledge that you don't have yet unless you teach yourself the chapter before class.
I really like Mr. Wang as a person, and he is the smartest professor I have met. However, he teaches the class as if we already know the material which we don't. Tests are like 75% of your grade and you can't understand him through the mask. The final average was a 37% in our class and he didn't curve!! Good luck.
He just gave us a quiz during spring break and is giving us a test the morning we get back from spring break.
The hardest I have ever taken. This class in general is hard but he did such a poor job explaining the material. He's a nice man and cares about his students. His slides/notes are not helpful and don't make any sense. He expects you to know material he hasn't taught. If he's the last prof available, take the class another time. You've been warned.
He speeds through powerpoint slides at a very quick pace. Gives answers in terms of excel formulas. Flew through an entire chapter in about 20 mins, and skipped half of a key chapter, and proceeds to assign a quiz. Expect quizzes that are meant to "raise your grade" instead of a curve on a test. Thick accent, incorrect grammar.
He does care, but has extremely high expectations for students. He can sometimes be hard to understand and moves through material very quickly, so be sure to ask questions if you take him. If you don't come to class and review sessions, passing will be extra difficult.
VERY hard to understand him because of his accent. The tests are not an accurate representation of what he teaches you in class. He is a tough grader and doesn't provide a lot of extra help
Ping Wang has been my worst professor by far. He teaches in such a fast paced, incompressible manner that it is close to impossible to retain any of the information in class. You essentially must teach yourself all the material on your own. He also has an extremely heavy accent that makes it even harder to understand what he is teaching.
Do not take. I tried so hard in this class, but could not understand anything this professor was saying. The lecture notes seemed sporadic and not in order to me. Very difficult, had to withdrawal. Now not even doing business here at JMU.
He is a very nice man but gives the harsh truth. If you are struggling in the class, he will not make an effort to help. The grades you get are what you get. His tests and quizzes are also impossible and do not correlate to the lectures and what he teaches. Avoid him at all costs.
horrible. the material was easy in theory but he really just isn't good at teaching or posing questions. also is the type of prof to blame the class relentlessly when the class average is a 50% (almost always is). confusing grading criteria most of the time. doesn't treat his students as individuals. also randomly calls on people.
Do not take this class unless you want to hate your life 2/7 days of the week. By far the absolute worst class I have ever been a part of. Literally switched my major because of this man. He's a great guy but an awful teacher and I don't know how he hasn't been fired. Not clear at all with how to do his projects. Hard to follow his lectures.
One of the worst professors here. I got a 37% on the first test. He's a nice guy but this class is awful don't take it with him. I had to withdraw from it and he was the reason why I had to change my majors. He also took pictures of the class and gave us all name tags which was weird.
Do not take this professor. The material itself is not too bad if you study but you have to teach everything to yourself. Very strong accent and incorrect grammar. Lectures are so confusing and powerpoints make no sense and are unorganized.
Do not take Dr. Ping Wang. He is hard to understand on tests/he does not offer extra credit. I studied so much for this class and it was not enough. He uses broken English on exams, his slides don't make sense and he doesnt give clear explanation. I attended SSC many times for tutoring and they taught me more than his course. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
The reason I dropped COB. He is not approachable and he does not make any sense. There are 3 exams that impact your grade heavily. Steer clear of Prof. Wang. Worst class I've taken at JMU.
Don't take him. bad about answering questions, he tells you to ask your peers. class attendance counts. tests are very hard, make sure you get the textbook you'll need it, but even then, you'll have to teach yourself the lecture. He's very confusing and bad at explaining things and expects you to just know it. Overall bad teacher.
Let's just say I switched majors after this semester and it was partly due to this class. Wang is the sweetest man ever and he cares about his students, but if it's online he doesn't answer questions and he goes so fast that you don't have time to fully absorb the material. You NEED to go to his TAs study sessions in order to learn the material.
He is a terrible professor who doesn't teach what's on the test. He goes through slides fast, but doesn't let us have out laptops. Very hard to understand. DO NOT TAKE HIM! average on first exam was a 61% Excel projects are VERY difficult. Broken English on exams and practice problems. Doesn't even answer questions to students correctly!
His lectures are so disorganized as well as his slides. Your grade is mainly based on tests. Students correct him on his examples in class which just makes learning the material that much harder. You do get a single sided cheat sheet on tests but it can be hit or miss. If you have ODS accommodations he will not let you take tests in the ODS office.
He is hard to understand as his first language isn't English and 191 is a hard class. Although, he is a very sweet person, that's the only reason he gets a 2 otherwise he is a pretty bad professor. Only had 4 tests as grades this semester and questions don't make sense. So, if you get him good luck...
If you're required to take cob 191, I'm begging you please pick another professor. Lectures are difficult to follow along with and won't prepare you for the difficulty of the tests. My only saving grace was that I've taken statistics before, otherwise I would've been utterly lost.
Surprisingly not as bad as expected. He mightve changed his way of teaching this semester, and the class average for exams was much better than in previous years. Many extra credit opportunities and he is always happy to clarify and answer any questions. The instructions for the excel projects were a bit unclear, but overall i liked him, cool guy.
He's a nice guy but he has no idea how to teach, he says you need to work on his class 8 hours a week, and you spend that time just on webassigns. He also messes up doing the equations and people point his mistakes out. The best way to do alright is to work out concepts outside of class with friends because his class is impossible to understand.
To be honest, Ping Wang is a pretty good teacher. I feel that a lot of people give him a bad rap for being a COB 191 teacher, but the material is just hard in general. I've had Statistics teachers in the past, and he is easily the best one. He tries to teach based off what you have already learned, and generally explains well. Lot of HW though
This class was not as bad as I expected. He changed his teaching style this spring semester and it was extremely helpful. The course material is difficult but if you take the time, you can pass! He does lecture quickly so I advise coming early and taking notes by hand. Ask questions when needed and most of the test material were WebAssign ques.
Professor Wang seems to be a good guy but he is not very helpful when it comes to you asking questions. He gets confused by your questions leaving you more confused. TEST HEAVY... second half of the semester is hard as heck. The online webassign assignments do nothing for your grade which sucks.
the subject is easy but its really hard to understand him with all due respect, you are gonna have to study everything by your own to pass this course with him.
Recommend taking this class. Ping Wang is one of the best. The class itself is not easy but you are given lots of practice problems and lecture notes to prepare for each exam as well as a cheat sheet. He genuinely wants you to do well and will help you do so, just show up to class.
Do not take him. cant understand anything he is saying, his english is broken and is impossible to understand and learn. uncordinated and confusing and never gives a clear answe. second half of the semester is impossible. Last test is on 5 chapters and not prepare you. you will get frustrated that he is allowed to teach.
Ping Wang is a great guy, but an awful instructor. He does not care if you do well in the class or not, refuses to grade month old projects, and is hardly accessible. As if 191 wasn't hard enough, he grades on a 7 point scale, so a 72 is a D+. You will end up having to learn everything on your own, and still be lost on each test.
Ping wang might be the worst professor I have ever come across during my time at JMU. The language barrier first off is extremely rough. Its really hard to understand him. He tests are also close to impossible, as he never actually has an appropriate study guide/recommendations for it. His class is unforgivable. You fall behind? Good luck.
DO NOT TAKE! He is extremely hard to understand and prides himself in failing students out of the class. He assigns work that takes over 6 hours and is not able to answer questions in class to any depth. If his accent isnt hard enough to understand, his grammar and spelling will confuse you for sure. He is not caring.
He cares a lot about his students and he tries his best to get them to succeed. He is asian and has a very thick accent and sometimes its hard to understand him. He also jumps all over the place when he teaches and is hard to follow. all that being said, he cares a ton about his students and he curves heavy. Would take again but gotta teach urself
My favorite professor as a freshman. He is very engaging with students and makes lectures fun and comical. The excel stuff is annoying but is only worked on for the first few weeks of class. Make sure to use the slides he provides to do homework and tests (so you don't have to use the optional textbook)
He might be a nice guy but you cannot understand him. His broken English is very bad and it reflect on the test making the questions very hard to understand. Don't taken unless you are very good at teaching yourself and willing to put in at least 5 hours a day.
Very hard to understand, lectures were all over the place. The slides don't make sense and just overall very unorganized. Exams are terrible, you can never know what to expect even if you ask him. You have to teach yourself. Homework assignments take hours to complete. Office hours help a bit but still confusing. Take someone else.
How is this dude allowed to teach at such an amazing school like JMU. 191 being hard enough and this guy does not help. Avoid at all costs, slow grader, not accessible outside of class, sorry but THICK accent. JMU for how amazing of a school you are my god clean up this dudes class or just remove him from your business program. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
He's a nice person, but he absolutely can NOT teach. His grading scale is very confusing. he changed it many times throughout the year without explaining the changes. His lectures are impossible to understand and follow, and the exams are challenging. You'll have to teach yourself outside of class. If possible take anyone else, if not good luck!
Professor Wang was a very difficult to begin with, but due to the language barrier and the teaching style, this class was made much harder. He is overall a great guy, very funny, and talks about his life experiences, but probably shouldn't teach. Tests were extremely difficult, but he just curved every test by like 20 points.
Did not grade a single assignment given in the 4 week class until the day of his grades being due. Left 7 assignments ungraded at the end of the semester and offered nothing in return basically telling us to deal with it. does not respond to emails. promises bonus assignments but grades them like real. Would write an essay on here if not for limit
Ping Wang teaches everything accept what is on the tests. Most students in my class were taking him for a second time. Exams were very difficult and averages on them were in the 50s-60s range for every single one.
Professor Wang can be a bit tough to understand at first, but his classes are engaging and comical. While the exams are challenging, using the slides and resources like ChatGPT and unstuckstudy ai can really help with prep.
dude speaks 0 english and exams are 70% of your grade and he teaches nothing on the exam so good luck
Exams are worth almost your entire grade and the averages are typically 50 and he does not curve. He barely speaks english and just lectures and you cant read his hand writting. Avoid at all costs
I do not have the heart to give him 1 star. Despite how he is in class, if you go to office hours he's so so caring. He wants you to do good, but his teaching is very hard to grasp. Class is also difficult so I understand a bit. Attendance mandatory, but it gives you extra credit on tests. He is so sweet but I got nothing from lectures.
I had to FIGHT for my B+. He simply does not care about teaching or his students. It makes me mad how he is careless and simply shows up because he has to. I dont know why but he loves talking about the china abroad program even though we dont care. Dont bother showing up to class, my B+ was all from chatgpt. Please, do not take him.
Just don't take him. Doesn't go over anything of value in his lectures and assigns assignments with almost no time to complete. His English is awful as well as his hand writing so the only way to pass this course is to learn the material on your own.
if you are chinese you will be straight just go to his office hours, if not godspeed
Show up and listen the best you can. He is very clear on what will be on exams and his exams are easier compared to the other 191 professors such as Vaziri. Curves heavy if you score well. Realize 191 is a cob “weeder” and not bus 160 you'll actually have to potentially apply yourself which can be scary for some at JMU
He is a nice guy. Lecture is hard to follow unless you are lazer focused. Offered weekend study session and gave out bonus points on test. Go to office hours frequently.
Wouldn't suggest, not helpful, not a good explainer, goes on long rambles too often, and lectures are never enjoyable.
I took this course over the summer as a 4-week online session, so it was quite challenging. There was a lot of work each day, around 4-5 assignments, and they were graded very strictly. He doesn't explain too well and goes over everything pretty fast. I kinda just learned the concepts myself and excel was hard to follow in his demos.
Not available out of class. Exams are impossible. Listen to the reviews.
He refuses to give any leeway in terms of his course syllabus. Canvas grades are never accurate because he waits until weeks after assigning work to grade them despite giving multiple assignments per week. Literally tells his classes that ChatGPT is a more useful resource.
everyone gives him a hard time but its a hard class. Its a cob weed out class. All the tests are from info from his slides, allows cheat sheets, and cares a lot about his students. He is funny and passionate. Everyone needs to calm down about him or switch majors.
worst class I've ever taken DO NOT TAKE LISTEN TO THIS PLEASE!!!
