Accent makes lecture difficult
Hard to understand, HEAVY Polish Accent, speaks with a microphone

The man didn't have a clue....go back to teaching physics!
This teacher is an insane mental case. You can't understand anything that he says and you look at him like a deer looking at head lights.

This was a wonderful teacher who really helped me to get a better grasp on my least favorite subject. His tests weren't too bad, and he was always available to help. Highly recommend.
He does not even compare to his wife Beta Hebda!!
He explains the material well. Accent doesn't make a difference. In fact, it was interesting to hear him speak. His tests were fair and he is interested in his students. I passed with a B. I recommend him.
Excellent professor. Goes out of his way to explain concepts clearly. Always welcomes questions both in and out of class. Some may not like his accent or 'dry' personality, but I've never had such a great math teacher before. A+++
I'll admit I've went to sleep a time or two but the class is good. He explains the concepts clearly and makes it easy to ask questions.
he,s a great teacher goest the extra mile to get the students to understand sub,
Dr. Hebda is the best teacher I have ever had. He is so intelligent but never made us feel like we were beneath him in this remedial class. He explains in the most basic terms and give great handouts which help with tests! I would highly recommend him for any and all math classes!
teacher tries to help students, but student need to get over the fact that he has an accent, get over it, he really tries to help. good lectures and system of teaching, ps. Piort Hebda, don't rate your self let your students rate you.(pretty funny though)
I did not like him. I liked his wife better in 0097... wont take him again
Excellent instructor who clearly conveyed what was often quite rigorous material. He teaches mainly by solving problems from the book. He’ll purposely pick both easy and difficult problems so students can get a good feel for the material. Takes questions in class and is also willing to talk “one on one” if you need help. Great!!
ok, so i have to admit, he's a good teacher esp. if u can get past his accent. His bedside manner is terrible, has a very strict attendance policy. i missed 4 days when my father died, and he actually asked to see his obituary! When i brought it to him, he then had the audacity to read it. If u can ignore his "no personality" factor u will do fine
Always stops to anwser questions
He is my favorite Math teacher. He took time to explain everything, and although I didn't find the material to be easy, he is very well-organized, -a dream come true for people that aren't so good with math to begin with. Once you get past the accent, he is a really good teacher & he will take the time to explain things that you don't understand
One of the best math teachers here. He is a far better teacher than his wife, who should not be teaching. If you have taken him before, expect the same formula lists, hw & test formats, etc. Get the calculator he recommends. Strict Attendance Policy. Don't take this in Summer if you don't have to.
Dr. Hebda is by far one of the best math professors at this school. I absolutely hate math and I was terrified to take this class. His accent was annoying at first because you could not understand him, but after a while you get use to it.He is very helpful and can explain the material well.If I had to take another math class I will choose him.
He is such a great teacher. Sometimes i actually don't understand how he can be as patient as he is! He answers every questions, never makes anyone feel dumb, and doesn't stray off track. he makes some funny little comments here and there also! oh yeah- ive gotten A on both first tests- thats never happened in math with me before!
If you do your homework he is not hard to pass. He does not tolerate non-math interruptions or talking.
He is very hard to understand at first! Kinda boring... Make sure you ask EXACTLY what he wants u to put on test the day before!
Dr.H is probably the smartest professor @ GSC. He covers the material rather easily & tests r a joke if u come 2 class & pay attention. 4 those who ha8 math or who r science majors, pick Dr.H., U won't regret it! He makes math more clear & less ambiguous than other professors @ GSC. I actually LOVE math more now after taking Dr.H!
really helpful when you get used to the accent. You can tell he is a genius.
Easily GSC’s best math professor, Dr. Hebda goes out of his way to simplify often rigorous material. He is also very accessible for "one on one" questions. Tests are based on assigned homework problems. Really wish the math department would let him teach more of the advanced math classes!
Dr. Hebda is a wonderful teacher! He goes out of his way to teach students the easiest and most effective methods of solving problems. For every test, he gives you MOST of the formulas you will have to use. He will tell you ahead of time which formulas he wants you to memorize and which ones will be given. I would love to take him again!
Go to class and be sure to take notes. Easiest time I have had in a math class but I actually learned a lot.
He is a good professor, however to those mathmatically challenged students such as myself, I would not recomend him. His class is hard unless you know what you are doing. He asumes that you have sufficient prior knowlege and has a hard time over simplifying things.
Horrible if you have him get out now!!! A friend tried to warn me but I didn't listen and now I regret it. Does problems and when he messes up or it takes to long he stops. Ridiculous. Loves to make you look stupid. I literally loath this man.
I recommend him to anyone who doesn't have a clue about math.He not only tells you the how, but he also explains the why. I am taking him again next semester&will take him for every math until I leave GSC.You will get used to the accent!
This has to be the best Math teacher at GC! I took two others and dropped out immediately because they sucked. (Fowler and Walters) He makes everything so easy to understand and as long as you practice the problems you should be able to pass! (And I'm typically awful at Math) I really like his little jokes and I think he's a really nice guy!
does have an acent but you can still understand. assigns homework but not due until test and is very helpful if you do not understand.
Great teacher. Explains things in the simpliest way possible. He understands that not everyone is going to be a major and gives the simple problems for homework. You get a 100 for doing your homework and the tests are problems just like the homework. Very nice man, makes little jokes that are cute.
Hebda is a good teacher, he knows what he's doing, and tries to make it as simple as possible. He just wants to make sure you know whats going on (i.e. he doesn' need the answer in simplest form). Has an accent (Polish I believe) but I have not had any problems understanding. The negative comments are from people looking for a free ride.
I really agree with the last persons comment. If you don't like this guy it's probably because you are a lazy person, and you just want an easy grade with little to no work. His test are VERY fair. He give awesome partial credit on test. You never have to reduce things, or rationalize denoms. I really can't stress how fair he is. I would most def t
He is an okay teacher. Just hard to understand.
Great teacher. You know everything that will be on the test but you have to go to class & take notes. I am not good at math at all but he really helped me understand. Study and you'll be fine. He's great. But you also have to igorne the accent.
Dr. Hebda is an amazing teacher. He explains problems in the simplest way possible. He is a gifted individual and teaching is his calling. I was very dissappointed when I couldn't register for his class next semester. He is soooo hot!!!!!!!! :) hehe
Dr. Piotr Hebda is like sex on a spring morning. I hate math, yet I found his lectures to be clear, succinct, and informative. He doesn't or rarely uses anything other than the chalkboard to teach, yet this old-school, no nonsense mentality, for me, was a breath of fresh air for mathematics.
Well first of all i hate math , but this class came so easy to me he is a great teacher thats why im taking him again
He has a thick accent, but his teaching is clear and he will answer just about any question you throw at him. I would go out of my way to take one of his classes again.
Dr. Hebda is a wonderful teacher! I have always struggled with math, but after his algebra class, I really felt comfortable taking higher levels of math. He teaches in a simple, no-nonsense way that made everything suddenly click for me. He is very clear about what you need to learn to do well and he teaches it well. Great great teacher.
I have never been super at Math, maybe low B's, but he made it crystal clear for me to learn. Only uses the chalkboard and teaches exactly what you need to know for tests. Accent is ok, after the first couple classes you forget about it. Homework actually counts for something so its not only tests, but he collects it on the day of each test.
Dr. Hebda is a good teacher. Very patient, and lets you know what to do to pass.
Let's just say I took two Math 1111 classes before this, failed them both. Then I took a class with him and made a B. Finally a professor who knows what the hell he's teaching, frontwards and backwards.
He was very clear. He would go through homework if a student was having difficulties.
Refused to help outside of class, especially before a test. Easily frustrated when you don't understand something. Very strict on grading but not consistent. Too smart to communicate with. Unless you're in his class everyday, I would HIGHLY recommend you take someone else.
the most concise clear instruction i have ever had.
Great man! Knows how to teach! Don't be intimated by his accent if you really do want to learn! Willing to help students BUT NOT ON THE DAY TEST WILL BE ON OR DAY BEFORE TEST then he knows you did not studied and you'd waited this long for HELP! Ace every test including final! Piece of cake (if you really do want to learn)! Good Luck!
Once you get past the accent, his teaching is very easy to understand. He was very clear and helpful.
The Math instructions are crystal clear. Hebda makes everything in math easy to understand.I am a non-traditional student and enjoyed the "no frills" policy in his classroom but some younger students did not. He is strict and allows no talking. His test can be difficult but he's preparing you for College Algebra. Overall Great Teacher!
First of all, if you have a hard time understanding accents he may not be for you, he is low on bull crap and doesnt allow any talking or late work. However there are only 4 homeworks due one for each test. He breaks things down to understanding easily! I was horrible till I had him for math. He really is great!
Hebda is a great professor, he teaches the math in a very simple and understandable fashion. i enjoyed him as a teacher because i really enjoys math and its usefulness in the world. I had a great time taking this class.
This is by far the worst professor I have ever had in any subject. I would never recommend him to anyone. He gets easily frustrated with students that do not understand his explainations or math in general. He makes mistakes when grading tests and becomes argumentative when it's brought to his attention. Do not take him. HORRIBLE.
Thick accent but if you can deal with it he is a great professor. I hated math before taking this class and failed 99 the first try. He is helpful and you only turn in homework when there is a test. He is interested in teaching and is practical. There is a no talking/cell phone rule in class but I find that helpful as well. Definitely retaking him.
He teaches in a very clear and understandable way. There is no cell use or talking to those around you. Everything is well organized.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Clear and concise. Made an A and would definitely re-take his class again. Previously was terrible at math and Dr Hebda made it click!
By far the worst professor I have ever had. Refuses to help and does not fully understand the content he is teaching. If you question one of his answers or grading he gets mad and will not listen to you. Also, many grammatical errors on tests and you cannot understand what he is saying because of his strong accent. I made a mistake taking him.
Tried to take his class as a may mester, horrible teacher. He was out with a sickness for three days, and i learned more from our Substitute than from him. Extremely boring, doesn't engage the class. just a bad teacher all together. DO NOT TAKE.
Prof Hebda is a very easy Prof to get a long with, rational and logic thinker. Don't talk in class but he welcomes a lot of questions. He has a strong accent but it doesn't interfere with his teaching. Don't be late, be responsible and and with a little effort you can get an easy B
he's very intent on helping you understand. The tests are easy and there isn't much homework. should be easy to pass if you can understand him. heavy Polish accent, but it's not too hard to get by
Best algebra teacher I've had. Explains things in an understandable manner. All homework due the day of tests. Spends first few minutes of each class answering questions about homework. If not for homework questions, would not need the book. Teaches from first min. to last. Keep noise minimum. Accent NOT a problem. True mathmatician.
Professor Hebda gives clear explanations on how to solve math problems, however, his monotone voice is enough to make the energizer bunny go to sleep. A little constructive criticism for Mr. Hebda would be to loosen up a little bit and make the class a little more interesting.
I took him for Linear Algebra which turned out to be an easy class. The 3rd test was significantly harder than the other two though. Also, he brought us cookies one day.
Great class, friendly with partial credit. Very funny with jokes and political comments! Excellent professor to take
This professor is rude, unclear, and gets very defensive with challenging questions. Material and expectations were not clear at all. Unwelcoming demeanor when asked class-related questions.
He is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is VERY clear. The only conflict on his class was when a student kept talking over him while he was teaching. He made math easy.
Mr. Hebda is from Poland, therefore has a very thick accent an is hard to understand. His voice is also very mono tone which makes the class extremely boring. He has a dry sense of humor that was sometimes funny. He makes his tests really short so the problems count for more points. He is unclear when teaching. Overall, I I did not like this class.
He is an alright professor. He's not flexible with his teaching, it's either his way or none at all. His test were fairly easy and short. He gives partial credits if you show your work on tests. Overall, he's okay, but i would not take him again.
I literally love math now because of this professor. I went into his class super discouraged, feeling like I could never pass math or understand it, and I left feeling totally capable and I REALLY understood it! YOU HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS TO UNDERSTAND. He gives time to ask questions and he encourages it. His teaching is excellent. TAKE HIM.
Very easy class. I'm not good at math at all and I slept through every single class and made an 88 in the class. Dry sense of humor which was funny, accent is difficult at times. Very smart man and will go the extra mile for yuk to succeed.
Diff EQ with Hebda was very enjoyable. He did a very good job of clearly getting the material across while keeping it simple too. Attendance plays a big part in your grade so you must attend class. He strongly dislikes students talking during lecture and he will call them out on it. Go to class, do the homework. I recommend Dr. Hebda.
Incredibly intelligent and open to ideas. I discovered a new way to solve a problem, but it did not work all the time. I went to class and he explained it all to me and when my short cut would and would not work. Piot threatened that if I used my way on his test, I would not get credit, but I used it and I got credit! Love him still today!
This professor was horrible. He had a powerpoint of the textbook, and he simply read from it the entire time. There were few examples that were shown to our class on how to solve problems. There was no review for tests of any kind. There were only three tests, which consisted of 6 questions each, and a final. You basically have to teach yourself.
GO TO CLASS. ATTENDANCE COUNTS. He is pretty cool. He is willing to help, but you have to ask. Other than that easy A if you try.
Before Professor Hebda I thought I was terrible at math. He explains things in a very straight-forward manner. I never asked why I was doing something. He makes sure concepts are known. His homework is doable, and the tests are short and fair. I was never made a high "A" in a math course before him. I wish he taught the higher math courses.
He's the worst math professor I've ever had. He would get half way through a problem and not know how to solve it completely so he'd just stop. He had to use his calculator or ask the class for the answer to VERY simple algebraic questions. He only gave 3 tests & a final worth nearly 50% of your grade. He should not teach upper level math.
HW is optional, he does take off points of your grade if you miss more than 3 classes. If you apply yourself, you will earn an A. He teaches off of a powerpoint and out of the book. Can be funny sometimes. Tests only have 6 problems, so know the material like the back of your hand. He is a very good teacher and if you are stumped, ask! He'll help
Professor Hebda is a great instructor. He explains math in so many ways and leaves it up to you to decide which is easiest for you. He explains every subject down to the smallest details and really helps you understand.
TAKE HIM!!!!! I am an okay math student, but this professor really made math enjoyable. He is very very veer lenient on tests, and gives so much partial credit on tests. It is almost impossible to fail a test, as long as you study. Do the online homework, show up to class, and it is an easy A. He also has a weird sense of humor which is cute!
He writes out every step
One of the better professors I've ever had. He goes in depth about each concept and allows students to ask questions if they don't understand. Nice guy, goes through many examples and the questions on test are not the hardest in the world. He also gives cookies out if everyone in class attends so that's a plus.
TAKE HIS CLASS. I am absolutely awful at math, and he is by far the best math teacher I've had so far. He gives partial credit on tests (life saver) and goes into depth in all his lectures, repeating everything several times to make sure no one is lost. He's a little quirky and has a thick accent, but he really does make his class engaging.
He was a pretty solid teacher. He is willing to explain any problem you have. He has a very clear grading criteria. 4 tests, 4 homework grades, and a final. Attendance was supposed to be counted in for your grade also, but he didn't do it. Tests seem difficult, but he is an easy grader. I got an A on every test, despite not knowing what I was doing
He is a great statistics teacher! Makes stats easy to understand, and uses real life applications. Very down to earth and willing to help all he students. You gotta work hard in his class, but it is worth it! Compared to other stats professors at UNG, he is the best. Only down side, attendance can hurt your grade a lot.
His personality is good but his teaching is horrible. There are only 3 tests and the final. Thats it. No homework or quizzes which sucks if you struggle with statistics. If you have question on a test, he says he can't help you and he expects you to know it. Just horrible professor.
Gives lots of HW problems but only requires 40% of them to be finished. In class examples are just like the HW and test questions. Funny, and makes hard math easy. Also gives cookies for days with 100% class attendance.
Has a strong Polish accent that takes some getting used to, but by the end of the semester, you don't even notice it. His calculus class isn't the hardest thing in the world, but you have to be willing to put in extra time outside of class. **Use the mathlab** Also, don't put off the homework until the day of the test like I did.
He has a heavy accent but I've had worse. He teaches math very simply and makes it easy to follow. Homework is taken up before each test but he doesn't really grade it. 100 if you turn it in. The tests are like 7 questions each time and they are the simplest ones. If you're bad at math like me, take him.
Easiest math class I've had in college, and he makes it easy to learn the curriculum. If you're not great at math, take him.
Professor Hebda is the reason I became a Mathematics major. He is inspirational because his love of math clearly shows. He somehow made a difficult course like Diff eq seem easy. He's funny too and brings cookies when everyone shows up. His tests are short, and fair. Make sure to do his suggested hw (the tests are similar to those and the examples)
Professor Hebda genuinely cares about how well you do in his class. I have definitely had some horrible math professors but Hebda made this class a relative breeze. Only thing to mention is you have homework around test time, you can literally write down anything and he will still accept it.
He's an interesting guy. Makes funny jokes during lecture. Pretty easy class, only graded by 3 tests which are 6 questions each and a final about 12 questions. Problems are very similar to ones discussed in class. Not that difficult, just make sure you know how to work problems.
Professor Hebda is a good teacher. If you're needing to take STAT, take him for the Summer. His tests are very easy and he gives partial credit ( you have three 6 question tests and one 9 question final). If the class has perfect attendance, he gives the class cookies the next day. Respect him and don't talk while he's teaching. He has an accent.
Truly a great teacher. Out of all UNG teachers I've had, this one comes out on top. He breaks down difficult concepts until they are jokingly easy to understand. He truly wants his students to all pass. His great personality will make it that you won't even want to skip his class. He gives partial credit on tests and gives 100s on HW if complete.
Gives a total of 4 tests (7 questions each) & a final (12 questions). Homework is due before each test (only checks for completion not accuracy). After missing 5 days, it will start to affect your grade on your tests (points get deducted), wouldn't recommend missing class. He has an accent. Perfect class attendance cookies :)
He makes Diff EQ less Dif-fi-cult
Mr Hebda does a very good job explaining concepts to make them easier. He genuinely tries to make his class easier. After talking to other people, his class seemed to be the easiest vs the same class with other profs. If you need to take STAT2400, Hebda will make it easier than anyone else. Very good professor.
has an accent, but is understandable. tests are similar to problems worked on in class. makes funny jokes. attendance neccessary. IF YOU SCK @ MATH, LIKE U DID HORRIBLE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND U STRUGGLE IN MATH CLASSES BC U CAN BE SLOW, don't take this class. good teacher overall but if you rlly struggle and need extra help, don't recommend.
Great professor. Explains material very throughly and spends plenty of time on it. Test are on average 6 questions long and very easy. He will take off points from your final grade if you have lots of absences. Would recommend.
Dr. Hepda is a funny professor. The book we used is expensive so is better to rent it. During all the semester we did 3 tests, homework, and the final; those were the ONLY grades for the class. But do not worry he gives good opportunities to pass the class with a easy A. Just study the homework before the test and the class will be easy.
Assigns odd problems for homework due on the day of the test. Does even problems during class and takes questions. He's super nice and tries to help. He does have a decently thick accent but it's not that hard to understand.
His lectures are very specific and he explains things very well. He only, however, has 3 tests and a final! I recommend him!!
One of the best instructors I've had at UNG. He genuinely wanted to make sure that everyone passed and understood the material. Always asked the class what needed help on and would work examples until everyone understood. You had to work hard to not pass his course.
Participation makes up 8 points out of semester avg. He does not really post lectures and just makes you read the textbook on cengage which as a platform sucks. Had nothing but problems with it. only 4 tests and participation grades. Quizzes are multiple choice and so is the final and they are short so that is good. Overall decent prof.
This online "class" is not a class at all. The professor does not actually teach anything nor provide any lectures. You will be expected to purchase Cengage and teach yourself all the material. The only grades are discussion posts and 4 exams + final. Don't take this if you are not prepared to completely teach yourself. Might as well CLEP!
Worst "teacher' I have ever had. DO NOT take his online class. Unless you are ready to teach yourself Calculus. He doesnt hold any lectures, and the "lecture problems" he has on his course page do not go much into depth. He makes you buy Cengage book and you literally learn by reading and understanding it yourself. Test are multiple choice.
Professor Hebda DOES NOT TEACH YOUR CLASS. I had him for calculus l and it was not good at all. He gives us an online textbook and that is how we learn all the content. There is a total of 4 units. The last unit is tested with the final. It would be a better class if he actually taught. Make sure you understand everything and ask questions.
Professor Hibda is AWESOME! His lectures were good for me and when he did a problem, he went through every step so as long as you can keep up and write it down, you have good examples to study. He also tends to give little tidbits of history too. HW and tests are easy if you practice. Also he is Polish and studied in the USSR,which is fun to discus
The only grades are the 4 unit test which are 15%, final which is 32% discussion/participation grade which is 2%. All test are lock down browser. There is less than 10 questions on ALL the test. There is NO extra credit to bring up the grade. The textbook is not free. If you can teach yourself its a good class for you. They're no lectures.
DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASS! He makes students buy a textbook and that's it, that's the whole class. He does not engage with the class, he does not give homework and gives one test of 8 questions for like 10 chapters. When I emailed him with questions he was not very good communicating them and even gave me a zero for HIS miscommunication.
Hebda is one of the best math professors I've ever had. The class is based almost solely on test grades with some homework that doesn't count for much but will be a 100 if you put in moderate effort. His tests are similar to homework but only includes the easiest problems. Easy grader, cares about the process, not the answer. Highly recommend.
Breaks problems down to basic algebra concepts, as somebody who skipped algebra this helped a LOT. Very kind and very entertaining professor. Truly wants you to succeed. Graded by 4 HW assignments and exams, even number HW problems were worked in class. Tests were very similar to homework. Gives partial credit and always willing to explain in depth
Dr. Hebda is an incredible professor that can make a topic like calc II incredibly easy. Class is broken into four homework's, 3 exams and a final. He is also very personable and friendly and is not afraid to crack jokes during lecture.
Dr. Hebda was an amazing professor. His class may be intimidating at first due to the lack of exams and how much weight they hold, but once you catch on that every question done in class is on the exam, it becomes a breeze. Very funny and actually teaches what is needed. Study the questions done in class and it'll be an easy pass.
(Calc 2) Brilliant guy. Tests are exactly like the examples you do in class. Straightforward. Repeat example problems and just do the homework and you will pass no problem. Really enjoyed the tangents this professor went off on, this is somebody who really enjoys his work, and he's just too funny.
Hebda is an amazing professor if you like simple, old-school ways of teaching. Lectures from bell to bell, with a 10 minute break in the middle. He is very passionate about his work and mathematics, and sometimes will go on tangents about the history of mathematics and other things. Goes indepth on all concepts to make sure you understand it fully.
Explains concepts clearly and was available for office hours/help when needed. Provided very good partial credit on problems and is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. Very little room for error, in this case 4 tests, 4 homework, and the final exam were the only grades. Final exam grade replaced lowest test grade. Good experience overall.
Definitely wouldn't recommend. He is rude when giving feedback and isn't very helpful when you ask for help. Be cautious because this class only has 4 test grades, a final, and participation grades that don't do anything to your average. If you want to take the class online think again.
Hebda is an excellent math professor. His lectures are clear and he provides great examples. The tests are manageable if you practice the homework. For study prep, I found ChatGPT and unstuck AI really helpful.
The second time I've had Hebda as a professor, and it's sad because he is retiring after this semester. Truly an amazing professor, sad to see him go
