An engaging lecturer. Very tough course, but knows when tests are not fair. A great prof who will help any way she can. The course had a lot of material, but her lectures and assignments will help you do well (as it should be!).

average prof. Oversimplifies at times and during answering of questions fails to accomadate everyones questions since oversimplistically explains for a prolonged period of time.

Great prof!! I had another chem prof in the beginning of 1AO3 and changed to Pippa's lecture and have never regreted it. She explains well, has well-paced lectures, is fair and is always there to help! She made chem fun and enjoyable!

I didn't regularly go to her lectures but her Final exam review helped me out a lot. Explains very clearly and quite helpful.

AWESOME prof! I've had her for all of my first year chemistry and she teaches very similar to a high school teacher, so the transition to the new material isn't as drastic! She explains concepts thoroughly and gives excellent notes

Dr. Lock is an exceptional teacher, they really don't get any better than her. Lectures are very easy to follow. The class is hard, despite not having labs.

Pippa is amazing she makes an effort to know peoples names, and she knows them without you ever telling her formally! She is tought but fair and runs an awsome class!

AMAZING PROF. She's genuinely caring, extremely knowledgable and always willing to help. She's not snobby or pretentious like some other profs, and truly cares about the progress of students. Great at explaining concepts and her test questions are generally very fair.

Lock ROCKS MY SOCKS!! I loved the fact that when we had questions she would open it up to the entire lecture hall to answer as opposed to only herself answering the questions most of the time. I also loved the concept of "Review by Demo" *2 thumbs up* and I thoroughly enjoyed myself in Chem this term. Looking forward to 1AA3 with her again!!!

Excellent instructor. Unlike many instructors, Pippa is a teacher first. She communicates difficult concepts clearly. She stays away from unnecessary and distracting technologies (ie. PowerPoint). Her lectures are paced well--she moves at a measured pace and includes many examples for students to work through in class. She is enthusiastic!

An outstanding chemistry professor who really does want you to succeed. She goes a little slower than other professors which is great and is great at explaining complicated concepts. She also answers A LOT of questions which helps you understand the concepts even better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

She's such a wonderful person! I regret not dropping in for her office hours because she seemed like a person you just want to get to know. Aside from that, she definitely knows the material inside & out, and doesn't carry on until she feels all 360 students in the room know the content. Her exam was challenging, but fair. So lucky to have had her!

Absolutely amazing. She made my first year chemistry experience totally worth it. There were like 300 people in that class, and she ran the class so that faster learners weren't held back and slower learners weren't left behind. Absolutely brilliant in chem and teaching.

Pippa Lock is honestly one of the most amazing professors at mcmaster. She is very smart, and keeps things simple. She takes you step by step through concepts in chemistry and moves very slowly. and she is very interactive with the class. She also jokes a lot. She also Doesn't proceed until everyone in the room understands. Her passion is teaching.

Lock is very clear when she teaches and she makes sure that every single person in the room understands before she moves on which can be repetitive if it's a simple concept or if you already understand. She's very enthusiastic when she teaches. Overall a good first year chem prof.
