When I first met her, her accent was something of notice, but after hearing her for a couple of days I had no problem understanding her. She is a very good instructor, she is very approachable, has good office hours, her exams are not hard. I'd take again
she is the best teacher you can ever take, very understandable, too loud wich is good for u not to sleep, she is a very good proffessor, fair, nice and smart. her test not that hard, straight from the homework, she is fair and very helpfull in office hours
She is incredibly bright. She's one of the best teachers I've ever had. She really makes sure that we learn and is very consistent in her explanations.
This teacher is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. She is very clear and very straightfoward in presenting the materials in Calculus 2. Her exams and quizes are fair and I have suceeded on all of them. She is friendly and flexible as well.
excellent, very helpful teacher! I learned alot and my grade showed it. take this prof if you can!
Simply, she is a math genious and knows how to teach ! If you are someone who hates math, trust me u'll change your mind. Only if all the teachers were as nice and brilliant like her....college would have been a better place.
Very good teacher. Tests are pretty easy, quizzes aren't bad. Easy to understand. I recommend her to anyone who is looking for a good math teacher.
To advanced for the class. Explinations are unclear b/c. Expects people to know stuff right off the bat. Does not answer questions well. The class average was very low for this class. Help or review for finals & exams were non existant. She relied on previous finals to be the teach instead of her.
Po Hu is awesome! Her lectures are clear and her quizes are right from the homework. Before exams she gives out a review sheet and the exams follow the review sheet. She's very helpful and gives good notes on the board. In the end she grades on a curve but if you do the homework you wont need it
Prof. Hu is a good instructor. She gives plenty of examples and her quizzes and tests are all based on the homework. She sometimes gets upset if you correct her or ask a question. Overall a good teacher.
Probably the best math professor Ive ever had.VERY clear lectures so you dont have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out stuff on your own.She is also very helpful in the sense that she actually wants you to leave her class having learned something!
A very good math teacher. One of the best I've had here. She makes clear explanations that lead well into the homework problems. Quizzes and tests were a cinch if you actually did the homework problems. She provides help for the final if you go to her office. The final was hard though. Study.
Not an enthusiastic lecturer, but she is very clear and organized. Tests are cake if you go to class and do practice problems. You will not be dissapointed if you take calc with her.
She's a very nice and brilliant prof. I recommend her to anyone who wants to learn and still do good in class. She's the best instructor I've ever had at WSU. I wish all of the instructors were like her. Her class was a breeze but you do learn a great deal. Overall, a very helpful and great teacher.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT!! best math teacher at this school..very willing to help
She is excellent. Gives very thorough notes, practice exams which are VERY similar to her tests, and plenty of opporutunities to do well in her class. Attend class, do the practice and the turn-in homework, and spend some time on the practice exams/final,
Great lecturer......BUT HER EXAMS ARE BRUTAL. in class she gives the easiest examples, but when u go and do the homework problems, they are 10 times harder. SHe is nice and all, but that wont appear on my transcript. If i could do it all over again I STAY AWAY
Hot? People who rated her hot have a serious case of yellow fever or is blind (I'm asian, I can say that). Anyway, class is easy if you take notes and go over the examples she does in class. Exams are fairly easy. The only reason she doesn't have higher clarity rating is her strong accent. If you have a hard time understanding accents, sit up front
If you are a retard in math, take her...she does so many examples on one topic that it is alomost impossible not to understand. For those of you who are mathematically inclined, she will bore you to death.
She's very nice and a good teacher. Lectures are sometimes kind of boring, though, but only because she does lots of examples of the same thing. If math is not your strong point, definitely take her!
A truly brilliant mathematician that actually knows how to teach and convey her knowledge. Her examples in class are extremely helpful, but you must attend lecture to understand what is going on.
Okay she is very nice, her explanations are wonderful, and she has does a lot of examples, BUT HER QUIZES/TESTS R CRAZY, VERY CRAZY. She will do very easy examples, yet her hwk/tests/quizes are the hardest ones posssible. She is very nice, but that wont get me into harvard
shes great best math teach a have had at wayne. Fair, nice, great at explaination and speaks clear english. I studied the homework and practice exam and received a 100% on one of two exams so far. Do all the assigned work and its easy.
Best math teacher I ever had! Great examples, good organization and she explains everything well. You follow the homework and practice problems and you will do very well.
Po Hu is very organized. She's the best math teacher i've had. I recomend her for those who had previous math classes with professors that cant explain the material. Her quizes and test are as fair as they can come, you just need to take good notes and your set. her example help a lot and she explins herself very clearly, with well spoken grammer.
She is clear and organized. Her handwritting is very neat on the board, unlike other professors. Her exams and quizzes are fair. Always do the homework and come for help when needed! I would recommend her.
SHe was great. I really enjoyed the class. I learned a great deal and still ended-up with an A. SO, like everyone else said, do the homework, lokk at your notes and you will defintely do fine. She's very clear with all of her explanations. I really enjoyed her class. Ever since I had her I've been looking for every class she teaches. So Take Her!!!
One of the best math teachers I've had. She is very intelligent, organized and well-paced. She goes over alot of things over nad over and shows you just enough examples to get a firm grasp on the material.
The professor was very helpful, and I can get confused easily.
Great professor. Very clear and organized. Quizzes come from HW problems and exams come from quizzes. Do all HW because she does grade and make sure you check it before you turn it in.
This woman could teach a bag of rocks how to do calculus!!
Her exams throughout the semester are easy which set you up to fail for a rediculously hard final. You cant understand what she says. High pitched voice. She even taught the wrong method for some sections.
Best math prof ever. her lectures are very clear i recommend her for math2030. attendance is not really required, i went to class about 75% and i still got an A. her test are so damn easy same with the quizes. just do the HMWK and you will be fine....
man..u cant ask for better professor in term of quizes, mid-terms. She is the easiest teacher i ever seen in wayne state..always will to help students during office hours..u can give her hmwk or quiz anytime even if u skip during ur quiz day..mid-term is totally from quizes..damn easy.i totally recommemnd this teacher to anyone even its ur first ma
she gives a LOT of example. great for students who have never taken calculus before.
Does a lot of examples which are very helpful for homework, quizzes, tests. Does not snap at you if you ask questions and always willing to help.
WOW!WSU should just fire all math profs.she should teach every class.very clear presentation.did not try to trick you in exams.the homework was sometimes more challenging but if u know how to do the hw no need to really study for exam. She gives out practice exams for midterms/final.AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!!!!!
If you are the type of person that won't understand something unless you know its purpose/use, she is the best teacher. Gives a lot of examples and relates math to our daily world. Willing to help and open to questions. Doing the assigned homework helps for her quizzes and exams. Like mentioned earlier, she is the BEST MATH TEACHER.
great, easy
Prof. Hu is a fantastic professor. I found her presentations very clear and helpful. It was easy to learn the material because she did such a fantastic job teaching it in the classroom. I would definitely recommend her.
Greatest Math teacher known to man! Quizes are homework, tests are quizes. Do your homework and you'll do great in this class.
The best prof. for calc! I was soo scared before and was never good at math and I got an A-! Do and understand what's on the homework, because that's what will be on quizzes, what's on the quizzes will be on exams. Just make sure to prep well for the departmental final, because it's a bit tougher than her exams.
Po Hu is awesome folks. This professor knows what she's talking about. If you want an A in calc. 3 take this teacher. Her singular weekly assignments are easy as are her quizzes and exams. She post exam reviews online and if you study those its a gaurantee A on the exam. A little tough on grading though, but all around great professor!
Take her! All of her examples/tests/quizzes are pretty easy. Just study like hell for the final and you will get an A!
Good Teacher! DO Homeowork, quizzes are similar to hw problems. Exams are just like the exam reviews she gives out. Final is a little tough but that's the only thing you really have to work/study hard for.
Hu is a great math professor. She is really good at time management and knows what she is talking about. You don't have to attend class, but you should since it's math. She has quizzes every Friday base on the HW you did last week. 2 Exams. The exams are based on what you learned. No tricks or anything. Though she has her mood swings sometime.
One of the easiest math professors at Wayne State. Very straightforward and simple problems on exams. She does assign graded homework, which boosts your grade, but I found it odd that I had to do homework for Calc III but not I or II
simply put...the easiest A i have ever got in college. take her if you can
my previous commment was deleted which I don't think was fair.. but overall she was ok. She gave lots of examples. I made the mistake of not studying for the exams- there are only 2 exams so if you do bad on one it's hard to raise your grade. Study her practice tests that she posts and study like crazy for the final, and you should do fine...
The homework she assigns directly relates to the quizzes and exams. If you keep up and actually try on the homework problems then the exams and quizzes will be a walk in the park. She's sometimes had to contact, but in class she makes herself available to questions quite frequently. Pretty nice too.
Not a hard professor. The homework prepares you for her quizzes and exams. However, she's not very good at managing her time. She tends to over explain some things, and, as a result, we didn't finish 3 chapters, which was disappointing.
The exams have a few surprising questions, so you have to prepare extensively. Just doing the hw problems and revising the quizzes will not be sufficient to ace the exams.
Tests mostly based off her notes, make sure you practice HW to know the material well. No surprises if you studied everything she covered and gave hw on. Grades hw, so extra points there. Quiz every friday. Study well and you'll be fine.
BESSSSSSSSSSSSST TEACHER TAKE HER
This professor is the most boring individual EVER and has no personality, but she is the easiest math instructor at WSU. I took her for Calc 1 & 2 and could not have asked for an easier instructor. I put minimal time into this class and still did well too. Memorize how to do the study guides for the exams! Do all the homework and attend lectures!
Good professor overall. Explains well. Examples and notes in class are important because they are a lot like the exams. Final study guide was a lottt like the actual final. Would def reccomend.
she is a amazing math professor, she has good logic and explains problems very clear and does a lot of examples in class. Her exams are straightforward as well. Highly recommend her to everyone.
Book is used only to do HW. Her lectures are really clear & her exams & clear & straightforward. No accent. Tons of examples & clear explanations. Very thorough & detailed. Liked her so much took her for calc 2 as well. Gives study guides & assigns homework that adequately prepares students for the tough departmental final. Take Dr. Hu! great prof
Amazing Professor. Loved her class so much that I took her not only for Calc 1, but also Calc 2. The test and quizzes are directly from the HW, she also gives study guides that are very similar to the actual exams, therefore the class is very easy. Homework due every Monday, with a quiz on Friday. Best Professor at Wayne, and she's also very nice!
MAT 2150 is a very difficult class but the instructor made it very manageable and I would recommend her to every math student. You learn a lot from her lecture. Her examples are very helpful. Quiz every friday which were problems from the weekly HW. Gave 2 midterms with study guides provided in advance. Very nice and easy to approach. Take her!
Cool guy g
She is the easiest professor I have had at WSU. Many of my friends severely struggled with diff eq, but it was the easiest class I had all semester because of her very generous grading and she teaches using examples more than proofs which students often fail to understand. Do the assigned homework and do the exam study guides and it's an easy A.
She made Calc 2 my favorite class of the semester. Quiz every friday straight from the homework. Homework due every monday. Crystal clear study guide which she creates similar exam questions from. Provides extra practice problems to help with understanding tough material. Impossible to get a bad grade- unless you put in no effort.
3 tests total (2 midterms and final), do the homework problems, study for weekly quizzes, and practice exam study guide. Will have no problem with the class if you do that. She is a fantastic teacher! Highly recommend!
Professor Hu really knows her material. She gives generous partial credit and gives you study guides that REALLY help with the exams. Top 5 HW and Quizzes count and are each worth 10% of your grade. Final was pretty easy. Two textbooks required, attendance isn't. Straightforward problems. Just take her already!
Amazing teacher. Listen to the lectures and do the homework, and you will get a good grade.
Dr. Hu is the best math teacher ever! She explains things so well and cares for her students. One of the best professors at WSU. I hope she becomes the head of the math department. You will love her!
Good professor! Her class is very straightforward. She lectures twice a week and you have to take a mandatory lab where she gives a worksheet on the stuff you learn in lecture. After every class she posts an online quiz that you can use notes on. Exams are easy and are usually 5 questions. She also reviews in class the day before midterms- 3 exams.
Dr. Ho is a very understanding, caring professor! She was one of the best I have ever had, she's very clear and helps with anything you need!
Great professor. Class was a little slow sometimes but she does a good job at explaining things. Weekly quizzes and homework (graded on correctness but chegg). Quizzes and exams are easy if you study the homework. STUDY THE PRACTICE SET/REVIEW for exams because the questions are VERY similar. She's really nice and helpful.
You want this professor. She's teaches by far the most clear of any math professor I've had so far. She's great at answering questions. Would definitely take again.
Professor Hu is very explanatory. She wont skip steps in problems and sometimes gives you a step by step guide on how to do the specific problem. I took her for the pilot program at Wayne state, and I am very happy with her teaching style.
She is such a great professor. Monday-Thursday are lecture days. Everyday Friday there is a two-question quiz based on last weeks material. The questions were always fair and resembled the homework, so these should be free points. The tests are also completely fair and she gives a good review for them before hand. I highly recommend this professor.
Professor Po Hu has a straightforward class. Expectations are made clear and tests are similar to homework and in-class problems.
Professor Hu is one of the best math professors at Wayne State. Quizzes are similar to the homework and in-class exercises, and the tests are nearly the same as the practice problems she gives you a week before the exam.
Dr Hu is very good at what she does. I can't say I'm passing with flying colors, but I'm doing much better than calc 1(i am very bad at math). A quiz every Friday and 2 midterms + final. If you are someone like me looking to get through the calc sequence with a C, this is a great prof to take to make that really manageable.
Dr. Hu was great. The tests and final were just like the homework and her test reviews. For the final, the material was evenly distributed, so study everything equally, and if u have a topic you have to take an L on, just make sure you know everything else. Weekly quiz based on previous homework. Don't buy the textbook, find the PDF on Archive.c0m
I didn't get an A or anything, but I ended with a 67 percent after the final after getting 70's on the midterms, and she passed me. So thankful for her. I regret not going to her for help more often. Take her. She keeps you on track with weekly quizzes and gives helpful reviews before exams. I'll take anything she teaches
Brilliant prof. UMich PhD. Studies topology. Unlike other brilliant profs, she TEACHES! HW due every Mon, quiz every Fri taken from HW. 2 midterm tests and final nearly identical to review. Unless you don't do HW or review, hard not to ace this class. Only complaint is her amazing lectures (cover every little thing) held class 5 minutes later.
She does a great job teaching. She makes notes on the homework assignments she gives every week so that we know what her thought process was when going through the homework. She never quizzes us on anything that we haven't learned or covered, and she makes sure to go over every different type of problem we might see on a test to prepare us.
Professor Po Hu is the best math professor that I've had out of all my collegiate math courses. She took time out of her busy schedule to meet with me weekly for any questions that I had on homework or quizzes. Her lectures are extremely organized, and she explains the material thoroughly, grading scale for homework, quizzes and midterms are fair.
Best calculus professor
One of the best professors at Wayne, I recommend 100%
Straightforward lessons so nothing was too difficult to understand. Homework and quizzes are very similar. Exams are near identical to the tests. 10/10 Would recommend. She's understanding if you need a remake. Attendance and homework matter.
Professor Hu is an amazing professor!! she goes through lessons in a very organized matter. She provides examples after each idea. Her homework covers everything we covered in class. Her quizzes are very similar to what the homework is. She is also a very thoughtful grader. I recommend taking her class 100%.
Dr. Hu is a great professor! Her class is well-structured and super organized! There are weekly quizzes that prepare you for exams and avoids accumulating too much content to review all at once. Reviews are similar to exams. Easy to reach outside of class. Totally recommend her!
This professor was amazing. Everything was so clear. As long as you go to lecture you should get an A. She writes exam practice problems for each exam which is very similar to what you should expect. Amazing teacher!!!!
I have had her for two semesters now. She is genuinely the best professor I have ever taken. She actually teaches and the grading criteria is very clear. If you take the notes and study guides and study and memorize them you will get an A in this class.
Definitely one of the greatest calc professors I've ever had. There is homework due every week that is similar to examples given during lectures. Quizzes weekly based on homework that was due the previous week. There are 2 exams and a final that are similar to homework and quizzes. You can tell that Professor Hu cares about her students.
Best and finest in the math department. So clear with instructions, and exams follow the reviews. She cares about students and gives lots of partial credit on tests and homework. Homework follows the lectures. Her lectures are thorough, and questions are based on the previous week's homework. I would love to take her class again. She will be missed.
Really sweet and kind professor. It was straightforward on what materials would be on the exams. She gave out practice exams before each exam and posted her class notes. Excellent teacher!
