The subject that I had Professor Abel Chuang was one that was difficult in many areas to understand but thanks to the way he teaches, you are able to get a much more clear and easy way of understanding the content. There is still a good level of difficulty but it does help you in getting good practice and understanding of the topics.

Most of the engineering Professors don't care in a sense that they want you to just learn the material and nothing else, but some professors actually care about the curriculum and how it can be applied outside of school. The first time I took it I didn't understand anything the previous professor said after taking it the second time with Abel, everything made more sense. This was the second time I have taken Thermodynamics, and there is a clear difference between the first professor I took the class with and Prf. Chuang. Chuang knows the difficulty at which the topic is, but he breaks it down to make sure that all the students understood the topic. He broke topics down and even helped make connections for us.

Overall enthusiastic in his lectures. Sometimes it moves fast, but keeping up with reading and homework is enough to prepare well for the exams. The HW takes me about 4 hours, so I advise starting early. The TAs leave good notes.

The only issue with this class and professor is how he weighs everything for your grade. You can do all the assignments, but if you don't excel in the exams then you will not do well in the course. The professor is very fair, and that is the best thing that can be said about him. If there are any bad grades it is almost always gonna be the student's fault, the professor provides plenty of resources to achieve whatever the desired grade is.

Abel is very good professor, he cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed, he grades extremely fairly and tries to give as much credit in exams as possible. With this course attending lectures may not be mandatory but he is a very good lecturer, and he is good at explaining concepts, the slides do help but they can be hard to follow.

The professor lays out clear guidelines and rules to follow to get a good grade. You just have to put in the time to get the work done. He really tries to get to know all of his students and is very nice.

Professor Chuang is a great lecturer, I attended most lectures and was able to grasp the concepts very well. He was also very considerate on providing support both in and out of class. My grade is reflective of my lack of understanding of applying the concepts into problems, and thermo is honestly a very difficult subject.

While the topic was difficult, The professor ensured that we had some idea of what we were doing. The professor let us know early on that the topic is not easy to learn but that he would try his best. There was homework every week and was graded, but does not largely count towards your grade. The slides were easy to follow.

Participation is strongly encouraged, as he constantly reviews the most important concepts and equations that are GUARANTEED to show up on the exams. One of the best profs at UCM. In class lectures are easy to follow along with, sometimes he moves through the slides quicker than you can write everything down, but he writes down the important stuff on the whiteboard, which makes it very easy. Midterms are closely related to homework, so make sure you can do HW problems and you will be fine.

He explains the physical meaning behind equations and pushes students to think like real engineers, not memorizers. The class is challenging, and he sometimes connects multiple concepts quickly, but his reasoning is solid and he's always willing to clarify. This is difficult class you need to understand how to solve homework problems because midterms are based of the homework problems, you don't get study guides because your homework are your study guides and midterms are 40% of your grade and 30% is your final so your grade depends on midterms and final.

Attendance not mandatory but never regretted attending a lecture. Explains the material well but wish that more in depth examples were done in class. Study for exams since they carry a large percentage of class weight.

As difficult as the subject was, I really enjoyed being in class and learning the subject because of the professor. He really makes sure that we all understand the material and provides resources to study outside of class too. Even tho attendance wasn't mandatory, I still showed up every day and felt I retained the material better in class.

Professor Abel is a good lecturer. He is concise and clear on concepts, and can put a context of said concept that one can understand. He has also made the content of lectures in video format which has been helpful, as going over after lecture as oppose to just reading the lectures slides is beneficial for me.

Great professor, but overall ENGR 130 is a diffcult class

The professor knows how to inculcate information about thermodynamics in your mind so you know how to approach problems that you come across in homework and in exams. The online videos of him doing problems are very helpful for learning. Although the course itself is difficult, it didn't feel that way while taking the course.

Professor Chuang was a really fun professor you laid out explicitly how he does his classes. He makes learning easy and really brings a lot of fun to the class, with an enjoyable dry sense of humor.

Professor is incredibly passionate about helping students learn Thermodynamics. Thermodynamics is a hard class anywhere so be prepared to study. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, so passing should not be a problem as long as you practice, practice, practice.

The grade is only the homework and the exams, with a few quizzes here and there. Just make sure you put effort into them, and you'll be fine.

He is really engaging with his students. He makes an effort to get to know everyone and understands that students have a life outside of class. There is about 12 HW assignments and 3 Exams total which make up most of your grade so try to do well on these!!! He does give some extra credit.

Super communicative with students, actually talks about content that will be shown on midterms and final exams. The material that you're shown is what you're tested on, which feels so validating compared to other more vague professors. Also has a refreshing sense of humor and a down-to-earth style of communication that is appreciated in upper div.

Great professor, excellent teacher IF you pay attention and participate in lecture. Homework assignment are incredibly important for this class as the exams are homework problems and slightly easier. If you can do the homework's without assistance from any source besides equation sheets and property tables you will be easily able to pass the exams.

This Professor taught one of the harder Engineering classes very well, if you give an effort you will understand Thermodynamics.
