Professor Pine is a great professor but because this course has so much information in so little time it is almost impossible to understand what is going on. If you are looking to have Pine for another course then I would recommend her. She is always willing to help and wants you to ask questions. Her accent only takes a few days to understand.

Dr. Pine is not a bad teacher. The material that she has to teach is just difficult. It's her first year and they expect her to teach general, organic, and biochem in one semester. 3 exams. 1 final exam. She's extremely helpful in office hours. She's very nice and funny. Exams are multiple choice and she really tries to make them as easy possible.

Pine seems to genuinely care that her students do well. She offers office hours and is always willing to help. She tries her best to also offer online Sakai materials to help with studying. Her exams are tricky and you have to study a lot to do well, but it's not impossible. You just have to be willing to put in more hours than you ever thought.

Nursing chemistry is definitely tough. There's a lot of material covered relatively quickly. READ THE CHAPTER AND TAKE NOTES BEFORE THE LECTURE. You'll be able to focus on what's important during lecture and circlehighlight things in your notes rather than falling behind trying to write down everything that's on the powerpoint.

Pine was difficult to understand at first but as the semester progressed she began to teach and focusemphasis material that would be the on the exam. You have to stay on top of readingpractice a lot. You have to put in lots of hours. She is genuinely nice and tries to make th class laugh occasionally, offers many office hours so go for help.

Definitely have to put in a lot of hours outside of class, way more than you ever thought you would for a class. Stay on top of the chapters and assigned practice questions. Take online hw seriously but don't completely stress because her test questions weren't very similar. Pine genuinely tries to make the class laugh, offers a lot of office hrs.

Make sure you study hard and do mastering chemistry. Also, attend the discussions since those count as extra credit towards your exams. The tests mostly consist of discussion questions and mastering. She is pretty clear in her lectures. As a person she is caring & always willing to help. The class itself is hard so you have to be prepared.

I honestly don't know why previous ratings are so bad. Took her because all other profs were gone and no regrets! Her lectures are from the book so if you don't understand her, you can always just read. Her accent isn't bad, discussions are extra credit, and exams are basically straight from mastering and discussions. What's not to love?

The material itself is challenging, but Pine is very fair. Her exams are 25 questions MC. Each question is worth 4 points, but they are very fair (and a lot of them are from discussionmastering). Go to class, go to discussion, do mastering, read the book (THIS BOOK SAVES LIVES). Easy A I think if you do everything you're supposed to do.

She is a great professor who really cares about the success of her students. Her tests are 25 questions multiple choice, but most of the questions come directly from her discussion section handouts and mastering homework. Also, her lectures are very entertaining because she is funny. I would recommend taking her class.

Pine isn't a bad lecturer or teacher. If you pay attention, do the mastering chemistry, read the book, do practice problems you will be fine. During her tests the MC is easy but the short answer is impossible. The class is doable just do everything and you will be fine.

Pine is your best option for Chem 102. Exams are 25 questions all multiple choice, questions are very similar to mastering and discussion questions. Each disc is an extra credit point which really really helps boost your grade. Slides are clear, SUPER helpful and nice in office hours, she has an accent but its not that bad. Id def take her again

Dr. Pine is one of my favorite professors. Her lectures are not boring and she actually has funny jokes. One thing that is hard to get used to is her accent. She spent most of her life in Jerusalem, but once you hear her talk enough you get used to her accent. I did not take AP Chem in high school, so all of the test were pretty challenging.

I enjoyed Dr. Pine. Taking AP Chemistry definitely helped me in her course. I feel like people don't cut her enough slack or bash her and her teaching because her class is hard. Chem 151 is hard and you have to work a lot outside of class to get a good grade. She has a complicated grading scale that helps you get the best grade possible.

I LOVE POLINA PINE! She is a sweetheart. She wants her students to succeed because she understands that chemistry is really tough. She is always available to clarify anything if you just ask her. Her accent threw me off at first but got used to it. Chemistry is really hard, but Dr. Pine does her best to work with students rather than against them.

Dr. Pine is an excellent professor. She tries her best to cover everything in as much depth as possible in the little time that she has. The exams consist of everything you have seen in lecture, discussion handouts, or Mastering Chemistry. She does not try to trick you. She sets students up for success. Still, practice a lot on your own!

Dr. Pine is one of the best chemistry professors you will get. She covers everything in depth. Her exams are made up of her powerpoints, discussions, and masteringchemistry. I think it is a must to attend class since she also writes on the board. She is super helpful when you ask her questions and going to her office hours helps. She is kind.

After coming from a horrible 101 teacher, Pine was a breath of fresh air. She goes over tons of examples and is very clear in her expectations of her students. Don't get me wrong, you have to put in a lot of work, but I understand chemistry so much more after taking her class. She's really personable and funny, and her lectures are entertaining.

After a semester of chem with Pine, I definitely feel prepared for the future. Her lectures are entertaining and informative, the discussion handouts are what you will find on the short answer portion of her tests. You won't have to run yourself ragged if you know WHAT to study. Spend your time redoing problems from the DH's and the lectures.

Compared to what you hear about other orgo professors she is a solid choice. She does have a strong accent and she does end up speaking fast every so often. Nonetheless she made orgo not as bad as one would expect. Her exams generally have similar problems on her discussion sheets. And book work is counted as extra credit on the exams.

I don't really understand the bad rep she got for her tests. All the tests are straightforward and you have seen the questions before either in lecture or from the book. Discussion sheets are the test free response. Class is pretty easy.

I disagree with what many others have been saying. Dr. Pine is an awesome professor. Although at first her accent maybe hard to understand, she gives you good ways to understand the material and brings humor into her lectures. Yes, Chemistry is difficult but if you do the discussion handouts she gives you extra credit and the lowest A- is an 88%

Pine cares about her students a lot. I wasn't sure about her at first but she really knows her stuff. She goes fast in her lectures, but is good at using non-chemistry examples to illustrate the concepts. The MC on her tests aren't hard but she grades the Short Answer hard, but those questions are directly from her discussion handouts.

Doctor Pine does her best too give you as much info on chem there is to learn on the class in such a short period of time: one semester. I learned mid semester that you can't just learn what you need for the exams just by listening during lecture. You NEED to read the book in order to learn. Take advantage of tutoring if you still don't get it.

Dr. Pine is a very sweet and caring person. It took a while for me to get past her accent. Her exams questions are very fair - they come straight from what she taught in class. Reading the book helps you understand the concepts talked about in lecture. Overall, she was a nice lady, just be ready to work hard.

I love Professor Pine!! Go to office hours and she will love you. She's the type of professor where the more you put in the effort, the more you will get out of it and she will help you!! She is super sweet, Chem 151 is a really tough class but she helps everyone out and you can get out of the class what you put into it!

Professor Pine Is an amazing instructor, I really don't get the hate! Yes, you have to read a lot and yes, you have to attend lecture, and yes she is tough. But, READ BEFORE CLASS. I never rate professors here, but I felt the need after I saw the bad rep that Dr. Pine was getting. In my opinion, she is an absolute gem! She makes chemistry relatable, and her lectures always make me laugh. She does have an accent, but she is very clear, concise, and understanding. One of the best professors I've had in a long time.

Ok here's the thing chemistry is hard if you hate chemistry go to office hours asap because she is amazing at explaining things She speaks English fine and if you don't understand her ask her to speak in one of the other 5 languages she is fluent in. It isn't an easy class but her goal is that you understand the topics inside and out

I took Dr. Pine for orgo in the summer, which dont be fooled, is really hard. But Dr. Pine really cares about her students and wants everyone to understand whats going on. I think with everything being said shes a great teacher. My advice would be to understand the test worksheets she gives really well and dont miss lecture.

She is amazing. No matter who you take, orgo requires lots of work and there is no 'easy teacher'. Dr. Pine did, however, make it very manageable. Dr. Pine is the best professor at Loyola. She challenges her students and if you actually show up and try to understand the material, you will do well. I had her for both CHEM102 and CHEM361 and i learned more from her than any other professor. She was even willing to work with me when i had health problems in the middle of the semester. TAKE HER

3 exams, 1 cumulative final, homework is 10% and attendance isn't counted but is mandatory if you want to pass the exams. She's very kind and fair. It's a 300 level class so be ready to study hard with any professor. She cares if the student truly understands the material rather than just worrying about the grade. I would highly recommend.

I was waiting almost a year to take biochem with Dr. Pine. I took her before for gen chem and liked her. She used slides, showed educational movies. Her jokes are super intelligent and actually made me to come to lectures. She make you work, that is probably why students complain, but you have to work hard if you want to get into a medschool

You can pass this class with the grading scale she has if you follow what she says. Offers extra credit if you want to work hard. If you want an A do the The harder you work the higher the grade. Drops lowest quiz and lowest exam grade. Took both orgo1 and orgo2 with her and guess what Orgo was the only section I did not need to review for my mcat.

I took Orgo1 with a different professor. Even though I scored well I was not prepared for Orgo2, I did not remember 80% of the reagents. Dr. Pine helped me to make a study plan, I had to catch up on previous material. I was using every office hours she offered. It was a huge line every time, but she made her best to help everyone.

Dr. Pine is phenomenal! Orgo is hard but it is even harder over summer. Dr. Pine built an amazing atmosphere in class, she encouraged us to ask questions and participate. Even if you make a mistake you will feel happy that you asked. She is super knowledgeable and can transfer her knowledge. If you do not like Chemistry you will like her class.

I took her for orgo2 and biochem. I regred I did not take her for chem223. All who took her for both orgo were faster and remembered more in orgo2. I was all the time in her office hours and got an A. SHe gives you everyhing so you can do well.

Took biochem summer online with Dr. Pine. The class was very hard but it was so well organzied. She prerecorded all the lectures on Panopto and had meetings for clarification. The tests were very rushed, but she curved the grade at the end.

I took three classes with her. Genchem was a turning point for me. It was very conceptual and intense but looking back at my notes I see what she meant by saying: you will need it in biochem. She was very strict but understanding. Follow her requirements and you will be fine.

Orgo1 was a second class I took with Dr. Pine. I knew she was strict and tried to follow what she was telling us to do. Practice problems and DH helped a lot. I wont say it was easy but I enjoyed it anyway. Exams were fair even though she did not allow any cheat sheets

I am taking biochem with her now. Lectures are cristal clear, I am watching many of her videos 2-3 times. It brings many concepts together and flows making so much sense! Her WS are like the mcat practice problems I am taking. Her forum is a life saver! When I cannot come to her office hours other students use forum to share what was discussed .

Her class is very hard, she uses prerecorded lectures, zoom once a week is a part of the grade, other two lectures are not mandatory and are like office hours. The exams are hard, but she is very smart and understanding. I am learning a lot in this class. Solid choice if you do what she tells you to do and watch her videos.

Biochem is a difficult and dense subject, but Dr. Pine did a great job at delivering the material, being accessible outside of class, and giving us opportunities for extra credit. Pine is kind, funny, and cares about her students' success. We did one group presentation, WileyPlus homework, three exams and a comprehensive but not cumulative final.

At the beginning all her rules seemed impossible and did not make sense to me but when you start following them everything comes together and the class is getting very easy. Dont get me wrong it is still biochem and you have to study and memorize and the tests are tricky but somehow she makes it easy at the end and enjoyable. Recommend!

Dr. Pine turned a daunting class like Biochem into my favorite course! Drawing on medicinal applications, she teaches you to think critically, rather than just academically, really emphasizing you to diverge from mere "memorization". Tests are rigorous, but review Wiley/PwrPnts and you'll do fine. Very caring & supportive. Best Biochem professor!

Her tests were pretty hard but she had weekly forum posts 5% and a project 10% . I was scoring ok in her tests but not even close to B+. I was surprised that all her grade components brought my grade to A- at the end. I would recommend her class as at the end you will probably still do fine if you put the work into it and stay on track.

Dr. Pine is a good professor but her class is tough. You have to study ton for each exam in order to do well. The participation and homework are usually pretty easy. I recommend getting an MCAT biochemistry book to study for this class since she bases her exams on the MCAT. She's a really nice and caring professor but makes you work for your grade.

All classes I took with Dr. Pine were not easy. Chemistry is hard no matter what. It was in person class but she had prerecorded lectures so I did not really come to classes. Solid choice if you want to have a good prep for MCAT. She has very high grading scale but somehow you can do well at the end if you dedicate all your time to her class.

Take her if you can! Took both orgo with Dr. Pine it was challenging class but it was enjoyable! She is funny and kind, at the beginning she sounds intimidating but actually she is very sweet. She made each class fun. I had three exams and weekly quizzes.

I took orgo 1 with Dr. Pine my sophomore year, not gonna lie it was not easy but her lectures and discussions were very inspirational and fun and made me try harder.

Biochem is a hard subject and so by proxy this class is too. With that being said, Dr. Pine is an absolute angel. I would call her mommy... but I don't think that would fly. She's tough, pushes you, but is also very warm if that makes sense. This class is challenging, come prepared to study from day one, and you'll do well.

I took Dr. Pine for biochem after taking her for gen chem 2. All tests are multiple-choice, and she drops the lowest exam. She let us bring a cheat sheet for the final exam (front and back.) She encourages participation and class attendance, but I only went to class for the exams and instead watched her Panopto videos. I still got an A- though lol

I took a class with Dr. Pine a while ago, but still remember her orgo class. Take every class you can with her, you will remember everything she teaches. She is very clear with her grading, strict but fair.

Dr. Pine is very clear with her requirements. The material is not easy and my only complaint is that she was not available at nights and weekends to answer emails.

Her lectures are drawings on Ipad and her TA posts all the notes right after the lecture. Her tests are exactly like her DH. I am taking her again.

Dr Pine is probably one of my favorite professors. She is great at what she does. She is super funny and nice. Shes always making sure all the questions are answered and trying to cheer us up. Orgo is hard no matter what.

Biochemistry with Dr. Pine is very unusual experience. She is very smart and knowledgeable. Her lectures are very engaging even for me who is not a premed, her exams may be tricky but overall I would not take this class with anyone else.

Dr. Pine is very smart and super passionate about chemistry. She admits she makes her exams super difficult on purpose because she wants you to be prepared for the mcat and med school. I would say if you don't care about learning orgo/aren't a pre-med, this class would probably be frustrating for you. Exams make up 80% of your grade.

The legendary Dr. Pine is a 10/10 fa me. I walked into my final scared but came out dominating it. She gave me everything I needed to succeed in all aspects of orgo. Funny lecturer. At times, I am lost but she is helpful in office hours. Quizzes were hard but definitely good prep for exam. Trust my word and please take her!

Dr Pine was awesome! She is very clearly passionate about biochemistry and the success of her students. Her class is very detailed, but incredibly interesting! Be ready to study hard.

Tests are everything in this class. Weekly Wiley homework but you get multiple attempts. Exams can be extremely difficult so make sure you prepare well. The textbook is not needed but definitely watch her Panapto videos as they help clarify concepts that you may have felt she went too fast over in class.

Dr. Pine is one of the best orgo profs at Loyola. I felt very prepared for the final. Orgo sucks no matter who you take it with. Make sure you do practice problems every day. Her tests are difficult and she doesn't curve them but the quiz answers are normally in the book if you can't figure them out. Luckily the class has a curve built in.

Orgo is hard. But Dr. Pine prepares you very well for the final exam. You will come out of her class with an understanding of organic chemistry if you put in the work and do the practice problems she assigns that aren't graded. Go to office hours. She also will drop more than she says she will if it helps the class's grades.

Biochem is brutal! Panopto vids help but I do not recommend to miss any lectures. She adds some information and puts it on the tests. Definitely not an easy prof

Pay attention during her discussions as she hands the answers to the exam questions. I would not pass without her videos. I could not come to the lectures, so this was very helpful. This class was very fast paced but I learned a lot!

So I'm genuinely terrible at orgo. Exams have lots of synthesis (I bombed most of them) but the multiple choice saved me. I could have gotten a better grade if I went to more classes (participation was 10%). In my opinion, Osner has better lectures, but Pine's exams are a lot more fair. I definitely recommend Pine if you're not good at orgo

Dr. Pine has one of the best reputations in the chem dept for a reason; she gives her all to teaching students aspiring for future careers in healthcare; staying on top of the material is crucial to do well in the course and engagement in OH, discussion, forums, etc. is very beneficial; grade is composed of exams, weekly Wiley + forums, and discuss

I like Dr. Pine, I think she is the best choice for biochem especially if you are premed. An A is not as impossible as it may seem for her class. Rewatch the panaptos, draw out concepts, make sure you understand every little detail, and study with a good group and you can get an A. You need to dedicate A LOT of time for studying. Worth it tbh.

Dr. Pines class was not easy. Her exams are tricky but her class had forgiving grading scale with a group project, forum and homework that we did in a group. Dr. Pine is very nice and caring and office hours were very helpful

Dr. Pine is a phenomenal professor! I listened to her panoptos at home at half-speed and took notes on them. I actually loved her lectures but she only puts diagrams on her power-points and annotates her slides during the lectures. This class will be hard no matter who you take but Pine is really fun and keeps the material interesting.

At first I was intimidated by Dr. Pine, she came off as very strict but with the time I got into her style of teaching. Dr. Pine is the most caring, kind and open science professor I have had! I started loving chemistry.

She gives you all the material to do well on her exams and what I liked the most is that she posts lecture videos so you can watch them at home. Shes also really nice and encouraging when I told her how disastrous Orgo was for me and how nervous I was going into Biochem. Hard work is required, but an A is not beyond reach

Take this class knowing you will be spending most of your time on it. If you're one that gets good grades and a good test taker, you be will fine. I loved Pine because she gives you every opportunity to do well in the class. She wants you to learn and it is difficult, but so rewarding. She will teach you critical thinking very well

I took Dr. Pine's biochemistry class last year, and though it was challenging, she made it incredibly engaging and surprisingly enjoyable. She was very passionate about her class and her class structure was very detailed. While her exams were tough, her class prepared me for the MCAT.

From someone who literally forgot everything about orgo 1 & 2 and got C-'s, I did awesome for this class. Pine wants you to know the content rather than simply memorizing it. This class will prepare you for any grad school as there is a lot of content to cover but it's easy material. Has videos & love discussion posts it helped me a lot.

Professor Pine's CHEM361 class is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Though the content is dense, her teaching style emphasizes understanding over memorization. Using Unstuckstudy AI and the provided lecture videos helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a tough but worthwhile course.

Dr. Pine knows her stuff. She is extremely educated and this class 100% prepares you well for taking the MCAT or any pre-health exams after. But, Dr. Pine pushes you. You have to memorize quite literally everything, and she expects everyone is on the same page. Get ready to study 24/7. She's not a warm person, but take it with a grain of salt.

Dr. Pine is harsh at times, but generally reasonable in what she expects out of students, especially if you have aspirations of graduate school beyond her class. This is a tough class, but biochemistry is a tough subject. Watch the video lectures she provides, and ask questions often and attend office hours. This class is difficult but doable.

Dr. Pine is an angel. She tried very hard to work with the FO/CO system and did her best. Gives great and helpful lectures and allows students to ask many questions. She is very knowledgeable and is helpful during office hours as well. She can be intimidating at first, but if you try to connect with her, she is the sweetest and so caring.

Pine is the BEST to take for 180. It is a lot of work, no matter who you take. I spent around 200 hours plus outside of class to get an A for this class, but she is extremely helpful. She is very nice and expects you to work hard like she does for you. Her lectures are great, and her practice tests are golden. Take Pine for 180 but its YOUR effort.

chem 180 is significantly harder than 160 but pine was so helpful. she offered so much practice material and was so sweet. TAKE HER such an angel

Good prof with a horrible chem system. Her first time teaching 180 and she tried really hard to make it easy on us. Of course the actual class is miserable but she gave us worksheets to help with practice problems and prepare us for the test.

Dr. Pine is a hard professor, but always fair. She wants her students to succeed so she pushes her students farther than most. She is genuinely nice, however not everyone gets her sense of humour. The reviews saying she is political is a bit infuriating, she has brought up her being Jewish, but nothing about Israel.

Dr.Pine is a wonderful professor and if you show up to the lectures you will succeed in her class. She made a fairly difficult class understandable and it is clear she cares about her students. My only complaint is that the homework was at times not correlated to what we needed to know for exams.
