Awesome teacher. Really loves the subject and gets the students excited about learning.
Great teacher ! Easy to understand. Great at letting you know what she wants. Best teacher I have had in college.
I love her!!! She is fun to watch and very crazy!!! Her tests and quizzes are very straight forward!!!!
Fun teacher, loved her class. Always helpful.
Keeps students involved. Straight forward teaching and testing. Fair, helpful, knowledgeable, exciting. She's a great teacher. She's not the easiest but you definetly feel like you learned and she makes sure you know what she is testing for.
really awesome teacher very easy to understand, and really helpful when you don't understand something. definetly would recommend this class to the rest of you science majors out there
EXTREMLEY hard teacher! If you dont have 30 hours a week to study you wont pass her class. Her tests are very tricky and very hard. She is not stright forward on anything she is testing on. She is nice and TRIES to help but kind all over the place. If your GPS is important to you I wouldnt recommed her unless you have LOTS of time to study!
The comment below is not true. She gives you study guides that tell you exactly whats on the test, and then you can match them with her powerpoints. The only time I picked up the text was for a little clarity. You get what you put in. I memorized the study guides and walk away with an A+ and didnt even have to take the finale. Best 201 teacher
Awesome teacher! She gives a study guide for every test & that's all that she tests you on!! If you do the entire study guide and study from it you will get an A! Loved her class!!
Great instructor...couldn't have asked for a better A&P professor. Class is demanding in that there is a lot of info presented but it's A&P it's pretty much expected regardless of who you have. Class is actually pretty easy as long as you do the study guides she hands out. Taking her again for 202.
She was an awesome teacher, very good at making the topic interesting. Tough course and she expects a lot but is fair and reasonable. Stick to her study guides and you'll be fine. I got 100% on almost every test but I studied real hard. You get what you put into it.
Terrible teacher. I heard she was good everyone lied. She should not be teaching! She should be perfoming Scientific studies. She does not answer questions. Do not take if you want to learn or recieve a good grade. I studied a long time for this class and it has not helped.
To say the least i recieved a D in her class but honestly if you pay attention you should get a c at least. BIO 201 is VERY fastpaced and covers A LOT of material and i mean ALOT! The whole class is based on memorization so dont take it unless you NEED to!!!
she is a great teacher. i would highly recommend her to anyone. i have had a different anatomy teacher at the school and i was not impressed with the other one at all. i'm a good student and i work hard but i don't think she makes it harder than it needs to be.
Very entertaining, makes the subject fun and interesting. The material is hard but it's going to be that way no matter what. Take her if you can!
best teacher ever! i love her. i am already signed up to take her for bio 201 as well. if you struggle with sciens you should take her. she has office hours til like 10pm. she will help you as much as youeed. her class is so fun. she is vert funny. the class is alot of work but you dont even notice.
Great teacher, I had her for 156, 201 and If my schedule permitted it, I would take 202 with her. 201 is a hard class but you drop your lowest test, lowest quiz grades, there is chance for xtra Cred and she tells you what she is testing on. Go to class! she will tell you little tricks to remember stuff. DO THE STUDY GUIDES! and you'll pass!
One of the best professors I have had so far!
Learned one of the two most important study tips moving forward: NAME EVERYTHING :) Love you Dr. Polly
Very Good teacher, you should always study for every class and this is no exception, but I got by without too much of it. Take her for this course. She is so fun to learn from.
Polly is a fun teacher to learn from. I took her for BIO 201 and 202. She is very fair grader and if you do the study guides and actually study, you should be fine. There is a lot of info, she does her part and you have to do yours. 201 you can drop your lowest test and you get a ton of quizzes that are easy and you drop your lowest in those too.
Polly is a great teacher. I took the 8-week accelerated course. It was a lot of material and she went through the powerpoints a bit quicker than i would have liked. But she is always willing to help. she is a very fair grader as well. i would definitly recommend her.
Took the 8-week course. Just a heads up, it can be a quick course, be sure to be ready to study on day one, and be sure to utilize the study guides, powerpoints and the book and you will pass. Just be wary she can be a little bit off or to quick on certain things but other than that, she is clear when presenting and it was not too hard.
She is a good teacher although sometimes it is hard to understand what she is teaching. She goes through her power points quickly but always provides a study guide for tests and grades fair. Her personality keeps you awake!
She definitely has a personality that keeps you awake in class! If you know the powerpoint well and do the study guides you will do very well on the tests. If you give yourself enough time to study the material this class will not be hard at all!
Polly is absolutley awesome. You can tell she has a passion for teaching as wel as science. Her personality makes the class interesting and fun. Every test there is a study guide and if you study thta you will be fine. Study hard and you will recieve a good grade. She doesnt just want you to memorize it she wants you to learn it. loved her!
She is incredibly nice and you couldn't ask for a better teacher. She will go above and beyond to teach you the material. Attendance and studying are mandatory. Test's were tough! They were fair but in depth. She gives you a study guide but it has a very wide scope. I found myself focusing on the wrong things often.
It is a tremendous amount of information. But she is a great teacher. She gives study guides that are helpful, and lots of opportunity for points. I wish she taught all my sciences
I LOVED this professor! She was amazing! The material is dense, and difficult to master. But she helps a great deal with making things stick. I learned more in this class than any other of my science classes, it was hard, but it was worth it. She is so nice, but she does challenge her students to learn everything they can. Best A&P teacher I've had
Great Teacher!! Really cares about her students and goes out of her way to make sure you understand. Her lectures are clear and entertaining, very funny! She will meet with you if you need extra help and offers extra credit. This class wasn't easy, it's a lot of information and I had to study a lot . Would definitely take her again.
This teacher goes above and beyond to help you understand.
If your coming into biology for the first time I would not recommend her. She is very confusing when it comes to what she wants from students. She doesn't go over assignments to make sure you understand the topics, feels like your taking an online course. Although sometimes funny, this does not make up for her inability to really HELP her students
Worst teacher at CGCC she doesn't teach if you like a lectures of just power points and no actual homework to understand the material or a straight forward study guide for the test she says just know everything for the exam. Be prepared to study 4-6 hours day . This class is extremely hard. to much information and very little time to retain it
She is very passionate, great teacher. I didn't do well because of myself not her. But she helped all the student enough. My next Bio, I will be with her again definitely.
Polly was awesome. She loves what she does and she's so fun. Tests are only tough if you don't follow what the study guides say. Otherwise she gives you exactly what you need to know. Would take her again.
Dr. Foureman is an awesome teacher, but don't expect an easy walk in the park. You will have to do the work to make the grade. I've taken her for BIO156 and BIO201 would take again if she was teaching 202. Her classes are entertaining, but be prepared a lot of information is going to come at you fast!!! Study guides will be your life savers.
She does use the PowerPoint for lectures but she throughly explains each slide. She tells you when there will be a quiz and exactly what will be on it too. She gives study guides for each exam and you can just study what's on the study guides. The lowest exam is dropped, included w the final. I came out with a easy A. Would take again
Best professor ever!
The class content itself is difficult but Polly made it make sense as best as possible. Super easy class just up to you to focus and try. Funny, cool, would definitely take a class from polly again
Literally the class was such a mess, very disorganized and unclear. Lecture is too long with no break inbetween. Tests are ALL FREE RESPONSE and so difficult. Answers questions with an uncertainty. Don't be fooled like I was
Normally a straight A student but got a C. Her exams are free response and hard. She provides you with a study guide but you need to fill it out yourself. I have had a study guide 42 pages typed. The class is overwhelming and she does not teach well so I have to learn myself. She gets off topic easily and hard to follow.
She is a very hard professor. Half the class dropped in the beginning. She reads a power-point to you for 3 hours and expects you to know it! You will literally finish the chapter and the next day you will have an exam. Exams on 5 chapters gives u 2 weeks? I highly advise people to not take her. She is nice but not nice enough to help you pass.
I do not recommend her. She is a tough grader. Half her exams are free-response. She runs off with different stories while teaching and forgets the main focus. The class is too long in one classroom.
Polly was one of my FAVORITE professors at CGCC. I would have take her for BIO 202 if it fit my schedule. Polly made everything so easy to learn because she was hilarious and used great examples. It is necessary to go to class because she covers so much per day and the tests can be difficult if you don't actually study.
I really love this professor but she will count answers wrong if you misspell a word and we had about 11 quizzes and 4 huge exams ( about 10 pages long each). If you study her power points and really put in the effort you will do great. I learned a lot from her and if you're serious about learning then she's perfect for you. Lazy? Don't even try.
I thoroughly enjoyed Polly as my professor. She wants her students to succeed and is very accommodating to help you do so. She is a ball of energy and had me laughing the whole semester. She takes the time to know her students. She is very well educated in what she teaches. Homework and extra-credit are rare, grade rides on quizzes and exams.
Dr. Foureman expects a lot out of her students and only take her if you really want to learn. We had quizzes every week, exams cover 4-6 chapters at a time, and they are not easy. You really have to know the material to do well. I have much respect for her! She has taught me more than any other professor and I feel lucky to have had her.
Dr Foureman is my favorite teacher this sem. Lecture is important cause she tries to give you little clues as to how to remember info. She will also scream &jump around when she talks about different scenarios to make them funny, interesting & MEMORABLE. Grades on spelling. Im taking this class for knowledge not just credit & feel Ive learned well.
Awesome professor. Very straight forward on what your grade is comprised of, no HW, but be prepared to put effort into studying for tests and lab practicals; does provide study guides that are actually useful. Amazing lectures that actually help you remember the info and she know what she's talking about.
Took her hybrid class, be prepared to study hard since these exams consist of a portion of multiple choice and a portion of fill in the blanks type of questions along with a practical on the same week as the comprehensive test. There are about 100 pts of homework so make sure to do them all since they can greatly impact your grade!
She loves what she's teaching and wants students to succeed. She finds fun ways to help us remember a TON of info & is accessible outside of class. If she gets off topic ask a question about the slide to get her back. It's a hard subject & lots of studying but she'll explain further if you reach out. Even during lockdown she was great.
Bio 201 is a difficult class but Polly makes it fun! Her tests are a bit difficult so you need to make sure you study what is on the study guide and you will pass! Overall she is great and I would take her again!
Dr. F is very down to early and will tell you as it is. I love that she is straight forward and tells you everything you need to do to pass. Great lectures but you will also need to read the textbook a lot to really reinforce all of the terms and things you will need to memorize.
I am usually an A student, I am not sure what I have yet the semester isnt over. I am here to warn you that this professor makes the class hard. The tests are fill in the blank with pictures and she doesnt tell you that! She does not want you to learn, she wants to make sure you KNOW everything. Last exam an average of 65% for the whole class!
Professor Foureman is one of the best biology teacher I've ever had. I absolutely loved this class. I took this class in the online format and it was still an amazing class. She does videos that great down all the information and they are generally short and entertaining. She is also super helpful if you ask her questions.
I did okay at the beginning of class which is the only thing that saved my grade. The lab portion is more of a DIY kind of education: watch videos, look at resources online. No real assignments to make sure you're learning it correctly. I did much better with the portion of the class that was based on the book. And the tests are stupid hard.
Dr. Polly Foureman is amazing! She's insanely educated. Teaching is an art; she is an artist. She has tricks/metaphors to assist your memory, but you should listen to everything she says anyway because she is fascinating. Tests are intense. Go to class and study; you'll be fine. Dr. F. is remarkably supportive--but you'll have to do the work.
Professor foureman is super nice and energetic in class. I had her before covid and her presence makes anatomy way more engaging and easier to stay focused. If you have the chance to take her class in person definitely go for it. Anatomy is hard and requires a lot of work anyways but professor foureman is passionate and interesting and makes it fun
Dr. Polly is honestly amazing! Always there for you & easy going. If I could take another course from her I would. While the work load is very intense and there will be no big breaks between your learning it is full steam ahead, she is there for you every step of the way. She gives you everything you need. Her exams are very intense so Study A LOT
Dr. P is an AMAZING professor; extremely knowledgeable in her field and truly enjoys what she does. Her exams are very difficult, studying is a MUST! She provides a lot of resources to help you succeed, but you must be self motivated to get your work done yourself. Pro tip: DO THE EXTRA handouts- this info DOES end up on exams/quizzes.
Its so nice to have a professor love what they do. She gives you everything you need to succeed in the class, you just have commit the time to studying and you'll do fine. Whatch her lecture videos that goes over the power points, she gives you things to watch out for on the exam, and great hits on how to remember things. She Is Great!!!
Dr. Foureman sets up her students to pass, but you have to do the work. Utilize her lecture videos, study guides, and extra practice. I recommend repeating homework assignments and textbook questions for full understanding. You can not take a day off if you want to earn an A. I recommend taking a basic course in chemistry before taking Bio 201.
A great teacher! Lectures are interesting and often quite funny. She hosts weekly zoom meetings to make sure you're on track, and will take the time to explain anything you need help with. It's a lot of work, but if you put in the work you will pass.
A great professor! If you don't understand something she explains. Always do the study guides she provides, its literally answer key and actually study. On her exams she has a few thinking questions but nothing diffcult if you studied. The labs are dumb, but every lab we do is on the lab practical(exam).
Polly is a nice teacher, but she is a go-with-the-flow type of person. This is fine, but also difficult when it comes to upcoming lecture quizzes and exams. You have to be proactive in asking about the test/study guide otherwise she will forget and you will fail. Other than that, she is fairly accommodating.
She was nice and everything but get ready for the tests and quizzes I swear every class there was a quiz or exam and they are not easy quizzes they were fill in the blank and she grades spelling and then her lab quizzes are looking at a model and then writing out the name and must be spelling correctly and know landmarks!! memory memory !
I took this class my first semester of college and got a low grade from the start. Although she tries to be goofy and make the leactures fun, it is very hard to follow her lectures and understand the curriculum. She also makes the tests fill in the blank, and every week. You have to study 3 hours a day and that still doesn't help.
The professor is very nice. But, isn't very helpful. Her lectures are way too long. And she's constantly saying " I think this is pretty straight f.w. You guys can handle this at home" I TAUGHT MYSELF everything in this class. There's quizzes every class and her study guides give you nothing. I would NOT recommend this class/professor to anyone.
I'm not sure where the sudden new negative ratings are coming from but this professor ROCKS. She gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities, is always available to help, and if you put in the work you'll do just fine. This is a TOUGH class and she is up front about how much time you'll need to study each week. Polly gets an A+ from me!
Not the course for people who have more than one class & a job. Requires a lot of memorization. Lectures are very long for power points you have access to at home (a lot of slides are skipped as well). She knows what she's talking about, but doesn't know how to teach it to others. No extra credit & no notes on tests. Study guides don't help.
She really nice. But, this class is all over the place. When I was taking this class I was ALWAYS stressed out and confused. Theres no extra credit and there's always test. Do not take if you actually have a life.
She seems like nice a person outside of class but this was totally one of my hardest classes I've taken in college so far. All the lectures were hard to understand, I always had to teach myself after lectures. She often trails off while talking or gets completely off-topic. Every exam there was an average of 60-70% for the WHOLE CLASS! Beware!
She is not a good teacher. Can not teach. She throws exams and quizzes out there like there is no tomorrow
She is possibly the worst teacher out there. Many friends took anatomy and physiology in HS and were still struggling with basic review concepts she was teaching. please avoid her as much as possible for your mental health she made me quit nursing.
The teacher knows the material well but the teaching style isn't great. The class is mostly lectures, which can make it hard to stay engaged. Lab exams are very difficult. Also, some sarcastic comments can make the classroom environment uncomfortable. A more interactive and supportive approach would help students learn better.
While the class itself was difficult, Dr. Foureman was great! I learned the hard way and did bad on the first tests, but from then I just studied and managed 90s. I took this class during a sem. where I worked 3 jobs and took 18 credit hours. I would have gotten an A if I had properly studied for the first few tests. Just a learning curve!
While I enjoyed Dr Foureman as a person, her lectures tend to be all over the place. If you have someone in your clsss like I did who likes to ask WILDLY off topic questions (that we won't even be tested on) it gets her on a very long tangent that eats into class time. Study guides aren't very helpful as half the material isn't even on the exams.
She definitely knows her stuff, but she is not a good teacher. Her lectures are disorganized and chaotic and can be more confusing than helpful. Study guides don't help and be ready to spend hours and hours studying for tests and labs. She's funny but makes sarcastic jokes that belittles students making the classroom feel unwelcoming.
This is possibly one of the worst teachers I've ever encountered throughout my entire life in school. She is just all over the place, and you better know your stuff before you come into class. She's very belittling and snarky, so just make sure you teach yourself the material, because you're never going to pass with what she's teaching you.
Professor Foureman was an ok professor but very disorganized. Random assignments will pop up throughout the week with no notice. If you don't catch them she'll doc you points for it being late/missing. Tests are hard and the study guides are misleading. Definitely knows biology, just does not teach it effectively. Be prepared to teach yourself.
My one year at University of Arizona was not nearly as hard as this one class, Polly is one of the rudest, snarkiest professors I have ever encountered. Her class is a dumpster fire of unorganized work and rude snarky comments. If you are seeking an empathetic, caring teacher look elsewhere because she is far from it, She needs her license revoked
50% yapping 50% mcgraw hill
Please don't take her class. Her lectures are very disorganized and make everything rocket science. I wouldn't even suggest watching the video lectures either. She utilizes McGraw Hill for class assignments , which is torture. 2 hours to complete 84 concepts?! I could've learned so much in this class but was more concerned about passing.
Shes a alright teacher but the actual things she teachers is almost as if shes learning it herself there's not much help at a disposal just skip this teacher and take howard
I learned some stuff from her class but overall it was just all over the place. You can spend hours doing study guides and reviewing just for it to not be on the exams. Also the unnecessary McGraw Hill assignments that take 2 hours to do wasn't that helpful at all.
She answered my questions and made sure I'd understand what was being taught which was great. Some cons would be the long lectures and the note taking. If I took any more notes for this class my hand probably would've fell off. The labs and lab exams were okay too but the unit exams were mostly fill in the blank. McGraw Hill was unnecessary.
This teacher was kind until she wasn't. She does not interact with students very well and told me to “use my brain” when I got a low score on an exam. Weird because the majority of the class got around the same grade on that particular exam. Not cool to kick me when I'm down. I'm paying for this class out of pocket and don't need to feel worse
so bad at giving material the class is all over the place. i would drive hope without a seatbelt on just incase dont take this professor
It was a bit discouraging to see all the low reviews, I believe Dr. Foureman was a pretty good teacher. She explains her lectures very well, and ensures her class understands the material before moving on. There are a lot of tests and quizzes but as long as you study and participate you will do well in the class.
