Great teacher! Will be looking for higher math classes with Polly as the instructor.
I really enjoyed this teacher she stayed on topic and really helped if something was unclear. There is a test almost every Friday but never longer then 20ish questions. she recommends math lab and will even help you get a tutor if needed, and asked. She gives points for coming to class, Overall she is a excellent teacher.
Currently taking History 148 from prof. Good and a more than happy I took her course. The class is mainly lectures, so if you miss the class, although slideshows are up on canvas, you might miss a lot of info. midterms that are over the information that went over in class Do your HW, pay attention to the lectures and youll get an A.
Disorganized. Unrealistic expectations on course load/time commitment. Doesn't seem to be passionate about student's growth. Shows frustration with students openly.
Polly is awesome! I'm taking her history class and I love it! I'm not usually super in to history or lecture heavy classes, but Polly has really engaging lessons. They're easy to take notes on and as long as your putting in effort, its not hard to pass. Also- the textbook is free online and she has a link to it, which is so helpful! 10/10!!!
I absolutely loved this class, every day you walk in and you know exactly what to expect, you're going to get fifty minutes of lectures and you get to leave. I never read the textbook and only studied a little for the midterm and final. She's super clear with what to expect on everything. There's a lot of writing for the midterm and final.
Easy class as long as you show up and listen to her talk for the whole class period. That's pretty much all she does. We had a midterm and a final which was an essay and some questions about the course material, which she did cover all of it if you pay attention in class. Almost zero interaction with other students.
Attendance is not part of your grade and you will write two essays. You will be given a one-two week window for when to turn the essay in with no penalty. She is a slow grader-first grade was put in week 8. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS AND SHOW YOU CARE and she will help you and your grade from there. Offers extra credit if you ask and easy final and mid
Polly's history class is 90% lecture and 10% mini discussion projects. There are several writing assignments throughout the quarter ranging from 2pg to 5pg, with LOTS of reading. Tests are writing only, pay attention to vocabulary and important historical events. She will help you out if you ask questions. Pace yourself with the homework.
Polly's class has 2 tests, all the other points were gotten through primary source readings. Some of these assignments were 30-40 pages of really dry reading, with little to do with in class content, and a 6 page response. 100% of in class time was lecture, which consisted of her reading off slides basically word for word.
Great! My history 147 was a hybrid class, so all of the assignments were done online. Weekly, we had to write two paragraphs to write about a piece of text that she'd provide, and we only had 2 tests (the midterm and the final, where she provided the essay prompt). I normally loathe history but she made it interesting! Super easy to take notes too.
Shes very distracting when she talks and seems nervous although knowledgeable its hard to focus on what she says because she seems disorganized
Polly was a great teacher. A couple writing assignments per week, an essay and a midterm and a final. Canceled class frequently. Easy grader and available to meet after class. Nice lady, would highly recommend if youre looking for a history class. Class was primarily lectured, a few videos.
Ms. Good worked with me extra outside of class to help me succeed which I really appreciated. This was definitely a challenging class, a lot of reading (mostly for homework assignments) and also a pretty big amount of writing. She cancelled class a lot, which meant she had to modify the midterm and final, therefore making them shorter.
She's a bit heavy on lecture but lectures were very specific so you actually don't have to read the textbook as she kinda expected us to do. Easy points for in-class assignments as long as you finish. Only two tests but are all short answers and essays. She was willing to help on the analytic essays. Take her if you want to gain some knowledge.
She does mostly lecture, but her lectures are interesting and well done(She knows her material very well). There was a small writing assignment every weekend, which was about primary sources, but the instructions were very clear and the assignments helped me understand what we were learning in class better. Two analytical essays, clear instructions
I really enjoyed Polly's class. There were two essays, a midterm, a final, and some in-class assignments. The class was mostly lectures. I learned a lot, and ended up with a 99%. Easy A, she helps with the essays and the midterm and final are very straightforward with study guides posted a week before. She cancelled class often, which was nice.
I liked her. I found her class super easy but, most likely because, it was a refresher course - exactly like the previous course I took. She seemed to be really flustered a lot of the time but, she was very nice and easy going. The homework website sucked but, in book homework was optional. I would recommend for an easy A.
Polly was a great professor; she is a bit lecture heavy, but everything is relevant to the exams. She also posts all her power points on Canvas so you listen instead of constantly taking notes. Grade is based on a few homework assignments, in-class assignments, (both of which prepare you well for the midterm/final) an essay, midterm and final.
She was alright, but frequently cancelled class without telling us, so we would show up for nothing. Class wasn't super hard or anything, but it was pretty boring.
I definitely would not recommend Polly for someone who is looking for a History class. Like she knows a lot but her method to teaches its definitely not good. She just talk and talk and show slides and never show that she really prepared for class. Its not hard the class, and you basically watch videos and copy power points. Its really boring.
She is a super easy teacher - she lectures mostly the whole time but taking notes isn't that bad in her class because her powerpoint is already bullet points so you can literally just copy it down. She has a midterm and a final with the green booklet but you get to write notes inside the front cover so you don't really have to study
Very lecture heavy but not the worst. If you miss a day, it's fine because she posts the powerpoint at the end of the week, anyways. Cancels class a lot and is very unorganized. There's an essay due basically every Sunday but it's very easy if you do the reading. One midterm with an essay and one final with an essay. Overall, a very easy A.
Polly is a very nice and sweet professor. You have to go to class to take notes on her lectures which are every day, though. She isn't a boring lecturer so it isn't bad, but if you fall behind on the notes you will definitely be lost. She cancels class a lot (like a lot, a lot!) which may be a good or bad thing, you decide. Overall, she is good.
Polly was amazing, I seriously don't think I've ever had a better history teacher. Her classes were a bit boring but since I like history I was able to follow along with her lectures. She is the easiest grader ever, there are no tests aside from the midterm and final, and those I both got 110% on. Seriously, such an easy grader. Take her class!!
Polly is a pretty good teacher, but this quarter she was late to grade assignments and cancelled class a lot due to personal issues. Class is basically lectures everyday, and it's vital to come to class since most info she gives is not on the powerpoints. Midterm and final were easy since we got to write a full page of notes for them.
Polly was one of the best history teacher's I've ever had. I like history so I didn't find the lectures boring but if you don't then it will get boring fast. Attendance was a big part of your grade but its easy to bounce back from. There was a lot of papers but she was clear on what she wanted. The final and midterm was really easy
Each week there is a reading or writing based assignment that is due. If you try this class is an easy A, I ended with 97.4%. Polly canceled class a lot the first half of the quarter. No quizzes or tests except for the midterm and final. Polly doesn't believe in memorizing stuff so she allows you to write in the front cover of the test booklet.
super sweet lady, super boring lectures. attendance isn't graded but her powerpoints are really vague and all the info comes from what she says in class. it's easy to pass if you attend, do the assignments, and take notes. she cancels class quite a bit
Polly is a really great person! Her teaching is mostly just lectures with a few in class assignments. Overall, it's a pretty boring class similar to high school classes. If you're just trying to get through history, take her and just go to class and do the work. Easy grader and can always make missed assignments up. Only a midterm and a final.
Polly gives amazing lectures!! It is crucial to do well on the online writing assignments, as those make up a majority of your grade. You must show up, because she expands so much off of the powerpoint, and if youre not there you only get the summary points. Mid term and final are based on her lectures. In-class assignments are easy.
this class was a bit disorganized, i thought her powerpoints (which were made up of bullet points that her lectures were based on) were all over the place and werent very clear. hw assignments require a ton of reading (up to 200 or more pages) and shes pickier on the grading there. this was an easy A class, but i didnt really learn anything.
Classic grandma caring heart, but your student reputation depends on your participation. 4 papers, based off of long articles. In class questions count towards participation. 2 exams, 2 parts each. One in-class essay, the other is writing a paragraph on 5 different topics. Allowed to write note on green book cover and essay outline. Coughs alot.
Polly Good is a great teacher. She is caring and respectful, doesn't rely on the textbook, and allows notes on tests. There are assignments during the week but if you miss there are opportunities to make it up. She assigns roughly 7 writing assignments, 2 tests, and if you want a good grade pile on the details. Her class is relatively easy.
Polly gives lectures almost every day (although there are sometimes in-class readings and videos to take notes to). Powerpoint slides contain little information, so you have to stay focused and listen to her lectures in class. Only homework was to write 2 paragraphs or an essay about a primary source document weekly. Midterm and final exam only.
Easiest class ever. Midterm and Final study guides are EXACTLY what you'll see on the tests. Allows notes and cheatsheets so no memorization needed. A few written, informal style assignments due every 1.5-2 weeks, include a hefty amount of summarized details from primary sources and you'll get 100%. Show up and listen to lecture, easy pass.
She's a fantastic professor. Straight to the point and gives you a clear study guide for the exam. She delivers lectures very well, especially considering it's a 2+ hour class. I would recommend taking notes on the lectures because you will need them. Also make sure you know how to write an essay (like an AP history essay), it is not in the course.
In all honesty, Polly was a fine teacher, the class is almost only lectures which are often disorganized and difficult to stay engaged in, but these notes are pretty helpful on the mid-term and final. You only have 5 essays based on (long) readings but they're very easy to get a good grade on. She's an easy grader but class can be boring at times.
I really enjoyed this class and this professor. I learned a lot due to the clear powerpoints and the lectures. Polly was always open to questions and answered them clearly. The tests weren't hard because she allowed an adequate amount of notes. I really enjoyed the subject material we went over. I would take this class again.
She's the best teacher I have met in my time at BC. Kind, caring and understanding. Only problem is that she posts homework everyday but ts light work.
This professor was really nice and supportive of me as I was trying to get things done, she is really understanding and if you ever need help in her class I strongly urge you to just ask for it. Her class is not hard to pass so long as you are willing to put in the effort to get things done and do your best on them.
I took Polly's class during Covid so it was an asynchronous class. Her instruction were very clear and personally I didn't feel like the work was too much or too hard. It is like a high school AP class, minus the test. There are only 3 essays every 3 weeks and you have about a week to work on it.
Prof Good's class is easy but there is homework everyday (graded on completion and if followed the instructions) no lectures or videos all the home works will help you write the essay( you have 4 essays) i had no tests or finals ( i took this online due to covid) when writing essays she will give you really good feedback and she is an easy grader.
Polly Good was a good teacher for online classes. She used a variety of assignment structures. There was four assignments a week, one for each day Mon-Thurs, and they generally took 30-45mins. There were 4 essays that were the 100pts each, but the criteria was clear and the assignments pad out your grade. There were no tests. Would recommend!
Was a really good teacher. A pretty fairly easy grader and she was fast at it to. She did really good so back it was one of the first teachers I took at BC. I highly recommend her shes super sweet and caring and really looks out for her students.
You do a good amount of writing in this class. There are responses to your readings every week but she grades easy. You also have 4 essays you write throughout the quarter. There is 10 points of extra credit at the end of the class that is easy to get. I got a 101.32% in this class. As long as you turn in your work you will get an A.
She is a very good professor. She grades very well gives a decent amount of homework and provides you with excellent resources and information. Moreover, she gives very good feedback especially for the essays and the grading criteria/instructions are very clear. If your looking for a good Asynchronous History Professor, Polly Good is the one.
She is so kind and caring! She is really understanding and will give you extensions if you ask. There are no tests or quizzes. It's an easy A, and you'll also learn a lot. There is one easy homework assignment per day, and there are 4 essays. I got 100% or more on everything. There are also extra credit opportunities at the end. Take her class!
Polly is a phenomenal professor. She designs the course and sets you up for success from day one. Do the work and you'll be extremely prepared for the essays. Her kindness and compassion sets her apart from other professors significantly. She wants you to succeed, work with her if you need help/extension and she will be understanding. 11/10
moderately easy grader, a lot of mini assignments but they are easy and there is 3 essays throughout the quarter that needs to be done.
I would totally recommend taking a class with Professor Good! She is extremely caring, and knows her material well. She is a relatively easy grader, and the course is easy to follow. The course has 3 essays with 3-4 weekly assignments. She sometimes takes a little longer to grade assignments, but that is the only negative aspect I could think of.
Prof Polly truly cares about her students education, where she is willing to give extensions to accommodate your needs. There is three-four assignments a week. There are three big essays to do in this class, where the assignments come in handy for information to use in these essays. The assignments are easy to understand but may take a while to do.
I took the US History 147 course fully asynchronous. This course went well for me! You can expect an average of 3- 4 assignments a week, ranging from textbook readings to documentaries. There are also 3 essays you write. Overall, Dr. Polly Good is an amazing teacher who is always willing to help out! I would certainly recommend taking this course!
I love this teacher! She is so sweet! There are 3-4 assignments a week and 3 essays throughout the quarter. The material she chooses makes the class really interesting, so the assignments were not difficult. The essays are a little intimidating at first, but better than a big final at the end. Overall, she really cares about her students!
Honestly, polly is amazing. I was going through hell and back during the pandemic and missed multiple assignments. She was compassionate, caring, and empathetic to all of her students struggles. She created a welcoming environment even being online. She really and truly cares about her students. I absolutely would recommend her to anyone!
She really cares about making sure you do well especially on essays which make up most of your grade. There are small assignments due three times a week but they go quick. The only thing to be ready for is she grades on word count, questions usually require 150 words and essays require 1,000.
Dr. Polly Good should be Polly Great. She is an extremely lenient grader and has clear and concise instructions and rubrics for all of her assignments and essays. She gives the opportunity for students to get feedback from her on essays and her feedback is very helpful. The homework assignments are very easy to get an A on. 200% recommend, easy A:)
I enjoyed taking her class, the assignments were easy and it was the right amount of assignments for each week. She also opened them up early so you can do them ahead of time. Id definitely take her again
There is an assignment every day, sometimes even on weekends. Be prepared to read and spend hours doing assignments. You wont pass this class unless you really focus and even small mistakes can affect your grade. Also very little leniency on late assignments. Grade is very essay heavy(I had 98% and I messed up on my essay and it went down to 80%)
I took Mrs. Good's asynchronous online class. She gives 3-4 assignments per week, usually taking 1-2 hours each, graded on completion & posted far in advance. She is very open to answering student questions & allows you to submit essays a few days early to get feedback and edits. If you have decent time management, it's an easy A.
Dr. Polly GREAT! 100% would take her class again! She is super organized with her assignments and due dates. Super lenient grader and gives lots of opportunities to receive feedback on essays before you submit them. The assignments are super straightforward and are super easy to get an A on. Highly recommend Dr. POLLY GREAT!
Her class is really easy, just do the assignments and you will pass. She gives about 3 assignments a week that can take 30-60 mins. She has three final papers that heavily impact your grade. However, if you email her your rough draft she will give you feedback on how to fix your paper.
Professor Good is a very easy grader I had 100% throughout the entire quarter, if you read the documents and textbook you will get an easy A. She also let me redo an assignment because I didn't meet the word count (make sure to do that). Only knock is that she reuses feedback, otherwise easy class and good professor.
Just meet the writing requirements and use your past assignments as evidence on the essays. Also do the extra credit if you need it’s really easy.
The class includes 3 papers and 2-3 very small assignments throughout the week. She lets you email your essays to her so she can proofread and provide feedback. Other than the final essay, I finished all the assignments 3 weeks before the end of the semester. Hist148 with Professor Good was the most stress free and manageable class I have taken.
She does a good job of covering minority groups in history and uses short documentaries/documents from the original authors. I would recommend reading the textbook because usually the answers are in the book. Her assignments are easy, only requiring 150 words per question. Make sure to send her your essay cause she gives feedback.
She's super nice and gives about 3-4 assignments a week. She lets you submit drafts to your essay and gives feedback before you submit it which is really helpful. Really recommend her!!
Dr. Good allows late work and provides feedback on essays. I have turned in assignments up to 2 weeks late and still received full credit. Workload is pretty light online and little to no lectures in person. Would 100 percent take this class again. Definitely the easiest class I have ever taken.
This was a very easy class! 3 assignments per week + 150 word count per assignment. U also have 3 essays by the end of every 2 chapters so just make sure to do it. She is also flexible with extensions and gives feedback.
Really stress-free class, 2-4 assignments per week, about 5-15 points each, basically graded by completion, only 3 essays 100 points each; if you email her a draft, she'll tell you how to improve, or you can ask her for help if you're stuck, accepts late work with no penalty, also really nice! also has extra credit if you need it
Polly was very caring and kind toward all her students. There was one big, final, project that we worked on pretty much every class, and had readings and video-question assignments to complete outside of class, as this was a hybrid class. She had a very lenient late-work policy, and gave extensions as needed for pretty much any assignment.
idk if this makes sense but the class wasn't easy, but it was an easy A. If she sees you put effort in, she'll probably give you an A. Still have to work, but the workload was perfect. It wasn't a breeze and I definitely felt I was learning, but it was rarely overwhelming. Lectures easy to follow, focus a little and won't zone out. adhd friendly cl
I was struggling a lot this semester, and professor Good was very accessible outside of class time for help. She was also very understanding about late work with no late penalty. There is a lot of work, with about 2 assignments a week, 2 projects, and 2 essays total. The week the projects and essays are introduced, there are no extra assignments.
Her class is very manageable as long as you keep up with assignments. Usually there is 2-4 assignments each week, ranging from short readings to documentaries. There is also 3 essays throughout the quarter. Dr Good allows you to email her a draft of your essay and gives good feedback. She also has a clear grading criteria for each assignment.
There are multiple assignments due each week, with each assignment usually being a page or longer. The modules are quite lecture heavy each, but the information is all provided within those lectures in order to complete the assignments. There are three essays, but Professor Good is willing to review those essays for corrections. Fun course overall!
very nice and knew the subject
She was an excellent teacher, I would certainly recommend her to any other Running Start students that need to fulfill history credits. She's very kind and understanding towards her students and I never worried about my grade in her class. I recommend taking good notes during lectures, you'll find them extremely helpful in making the two essays.
She was great. She was caring and very easy to work with. She was accessible outside of class as well.
Professor Good's class was really easy to do well in. The assignments are very light and have clear guidelines. She also offers help to students and feedback for assignments. The class is an easy A for people who want to get their history credit completed, but if you actually want to learn more about history, you won't learn much in this class.
As a running start student,I really enjoyed her class and learned a lot from her lectures! She's very kind and gives you feedback before turning in the two papers you have to write so you know exactly how to get an A on them. Make sure to take notes during her lectures since not all the info is on the slides, and textbook is helpful for essays.
Dr. Good is an amazing professor. I am taking her online HIST& 147 class right now and she is very understanding and kind. She assigns about 3 assignments per week and she is a very easy grader as long as she can tell you put effort into your work. However, there are essays. I recommend her for other running start students!
Very understanding. Would recommend. Only a few assignments per week. Like three. And then two quizzes that count to about 10 normal assignments. Just stay caught up on the work.
Amazing professor. Always answered quickly and genuinely cared about her students. Always willing to reach out to help you and very lenient with late policy. Would recommend.
She is one of the nicest teachers ever! Async class had 3 assignment/week- super easy HW just reading some material and/or watching a documentary and answering questions from them. 2 essays- again super easy and she helps so so much if you ask for help! If you send her your essay she will help you until your essay is at a 100%. Highy recommend!
This class was great, I learned a lot from it. HW was very easy to complete, 3 per week and there is a 150 word minimum for each question after reading a chapter, or watching a video and answering premade questions. Videos had a text version on the side which was nice. 2 essays which were easy. Professor Good is a very easy grader, and helpful.
My teacher cancelled 30 minutes before class every time. Finally, she sent an email on a Saturday that she will not be returning and that a new teacher will take over.
She mentioned at the beginning of class that she worries she doesn't give her students enough work, and boy was she right. This was one of the lightest classes I've ever had. She has a habit of cancelling class when she doesn't feel like teaching, and she grades quite lazily. She's a great lecturer, though, and the class is really informative.
I took her HIST&146 hybrid class during fall quarter. This class was very enjoyable and light! Weekly assignment and discussions in class with two major essays. She's caring and always willing to help students. For the essays, you can submit for feedback. Overall, an easy A as long as you show up and do the work.
She was an Amazing professor, I had her for fall quarter and as long as you showed up it was an easy A. Be prepared to have a lot of group discussions and 2 essays as your mid term and final. She had a tendency to cancel class last minute so check your email. Other than that I would 10000% recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Good is truly an incredible teacher. I took her class as a random elective and ended up loving it. All you have to do is participate in class and you will get a good grade. I got 100% in the class because as long as you follow the rubric and listen to her advice, you will get all the points. LOVE THIS PROFESSOR and would 100% take again!!!
For my online class we had homework Monday Tuesday and Wednesday its not necessarily hard. Otherwise, super lenient and a cool guy.
Polly good is such an amazing professor to have for an online class. She assigned at most three assignments a week that only took like 30 minutes to complete each. For the two essays, make sure you turn in a draft because she tells you exactly what you need to change and she gives feedback quickly. This class is an easy A and I totally recommend!
We had around 3 assignments per week, each over 150 words. there were 2 essays, one in the middle and one in the back. Her grading critera is quite clear, and the assignments are quite easy to finish. There are no tests, and her feedback is very helpful.
Amazing professor. Has a clear grading criteria and will actually take time out of her day to give feedback. On a difficulty scale I would say it was average, there were a good amount of readings but they were pretty short. Only 2 essays and no quizzes. I would honestly take Dr. Good's class again in the future.
Clear guidelines and simple weekly homework. 2 essays. Would take this professor again!
