At first she's intimidating, but as the semester moves on she gets better. It's difficult to debate/challenge her as she is confident about who she is. Watch out, there will be an oral presentation (in groups). But don't fret, I'm sure she grades easy on that. For success, study, study, study.

She can be a little abrasive, but I enjoyed her and I learned a lot.

She was an awesome professor. Brilliant and helpful. I wish she was a full time not just part time but she is definitely someone to learn from.

She does embarrass classmates, and it is very unnecessary. I passed with flying colors but just paying attention, doing the homework, reading, doing well on tests, and participating. Peace of cake class. She really wasn't as bad as people make her out to be.

I don't get all the bad reviews. I work full time, have a child and know I passed with flying colors. Do the work, be an adult and she will treat you like one. College is for grown ups, do not expect to be coddled. She does have an ego, but if you had a Doctorate you would too. I thought the class was interesting and pretty easy.

Fall '11. I received an A which was not a surprise as I spoke up in class and I even asked questions when I didn't understand something. The most important part is doing anything and everything she asks, i.e. homework. Class wasn't fun to attend as it became monotonous. She was egotistical, but with her credentials, why not?

I took her Fall Semester last year, and she was really hard! She really pushed all of us to do our best, and I ended up with a solid A! If you work really hard, and you do everything she tells you, you'll pass her class. MAJOR CHEAT CODE: Vocabulary Notebook - spice it up with some pictures, make it all organized, she'll give you extra points!

she was honestly the most amazing teacher i have ever had.she wants EVERYBODY 2 PASS never gives up on anybody & believes in all her students her work is very easy . It's a pretty easy A. She requires you to do vocab, and does give extra points if you put in the extra effort. A couple of short quizzes but she does give notes on material and they're pretty easy and quick quizzes. Overall, if you can put in some work then you should get an A. She really isn't all that hard.

She is one of my best teacher in CSN.She is doing her part as a Prof. so you just have to DO YOUR PART TOO as a student. This is college not high school so she is expecting you to be one. She is very helpful like having you retake the quizzes or subimt an overdue report. This class is NOT HARD AT ALL unless YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. Peace.

Dr Lopez is an excellent teacher. She has stopped giving open book exams.

This class is not impossible, but is not easy too. The assignments will consume most of your time, making hard to do good in other classes. Most teachers seem to think that students only take one class, when in reality we don't even have time for personal life. She is a good teacher, but she can improve by considering the time of the students.

Dr. Lopez so far was the best teacher I've had at CSN. Be one of her computer TA's, lots of extra credit and her computer chair was so comfortable.

Doctor Lopez is an entertaining professor. This was a fun class. You will learn if you put in the work and read the chapters in the book. Pay attention, attend class and actually do some research. Don't take this class if you need your education spoon fed to you.

Dr Lopez is a great teacher. I have learned a lot about Psy. She will not put up with inmatured students. If you didn't passed her quizzes, who did not studied. Those are the students that don't succeed. She does give you a chance to pass with a decent grade.

Professor Ponchita Lopez, is the best intructor there is. She has taught me a lot. I have taken her other Psy classes as well. I would recommend you to take her class.

Dr Lopez teaches Abnormal Psy classes. She knows a lot abot mental disorders. I loved her class. She is very clear about all psy. disorders. Take her class. The people that complained about her, are the ones that have failled Psy before they took her class. They just don't GET IT!

Professor Lopez is an amazing instructor; by far the best psychology professor I have had! She knows so much about the field, and absolutely loves to teach and help students learn. The 241 class is mainly case study work, so the text book is not typically used unless for vocab. I wish that she could teach all of my psychology classes!

Dr. Lopez is one of the best teachers I have had. In college, it is really hard to find people that actually care for you, but this professor is always able to help. I took Dr. Lopez this fall semester for psychology. I was chosen as her teaching aid and I highly recommend becoming one if you have her as a professor. She wanted you to pass. She is a bit tough on you and super sassy, but only because she has a sense of humor and also wants you to get what you need from this class. She wants you to learn and you can tell she is passionate. Always be kind to her and never try to joke if she is being serious. Wish I could take her again!

She is one of the best prof out there. she challenges students in a way for the information to stick to mind. Can be really funny sometimes. and she makes students feel easy in class doesn't pressure you that much but make sure to write some notes cause sometimes she ask random student on what they think. easy exams as long as you study the book.

She is down to earth and you must show up for class and do the homework assignments. I am glad I did. She was cool and looks out for your needs when it comes to your GPA. Important!

Professor Lopez is by far the best professor I took for my Fall 2015 semester! she helped me guide throughout the semester. Participate in her extra credit. It will definitely boost up your grade! Her lectures are hard to follow and difficult to take notes off of, so the textbook will be your best friend. Group project is mandatory, and there are 2 extra credit choices she gives. If you go to class, do the work you, and stay off your phone, you will pas with an A, no problem.

Dr. Lopezs class is very exciting and I looked forward to attending class each week. Shes very caring and understanding and if you need additional help shes there for you. The test are multiple-choice but some of the questions do not match the textbook. If you do your work, come to class, take advantage Of the extra credit and you will do well.

I've taken Professor Lopez twice now. I took her for PSY101 and now PSY241. There are lectures every class. Rarely assigns homework or quizzes, just one group project. Final exams are lengthy movie analysis papers, but they aren't difficult. She does NOT use canvas. Overall she's a good teacher and she wants her students to succeed.

Dr. Lopez knows what she is doing. She makes you feel welcomed and shows you many of her lectures through power points so take notes. The quizzes she gives you are not too hard, just study them and you will pass. There is only one group project and it is out of the book. Be sure to present it in a professional fashion. Do not be disruptive.

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PSYCH MAJORS. She was my absolute favorite. Her class is easy to pass. All you need to do is show up every class and do what she asks. She is not a tough grader and gives many easy extra credit opportunities. Not many quizzes, we took less than 4 for sure. Midterm was a difficult but also open book. The final was a take-home.

Mrs. Lopez was decent. Not the easiest class I've taken but it shouldn't play a factor when picking her as your psychology teacher. She's great at what she does, know your classmates beforehand bc there will be group presentations. Don't plagiarize. If your presentation exceeds her expectations, you can secure an early A before the semester ends.

I took her class for the summer. You have 1 group presentation, 3 quizzes, a midterm that's open book and a final that's taken home. You have to write essays about the group presentations. You also have to write another essay describing the timeline about the movie "A Beautiful Mind." You can do a vision board for extra credit.

Dr Ponchita Lopez is a professor that cares. She knows Psychology very well. Her expectations is take you will earn a "B" or better. You will have the motivation to earned a good grade.. If you are going into medicine, I would take her class. Her classes were never cancelled. Her classes are full. Take her class!

I agree with some people here that if you are majoring in psych this is not the class for you. I did not learn alot in this class as much as I wanted to. On the Bright side, this class is easy to pass as long as u do what she asks. U only need to earn 150 out of the 200 pts in this class to to get an A. Think about that in percentages.

I love this professor! Her lectures are so fun that it doesn't even feel like a lecture. This class is an easy A and the professor is relatable and very sweet. Would not recommend it if you want to deeply learn about psychology.

I agree with the other reviews saying this is NOT the class for Psychology majors. This is more of a class for people who want to get their social studies credit out of the way. The class is pretty straight forward. To me, the two assignments from her that required the most work was the group project and final essay. Everything else was simple.

Dr. Lopez was and is one of the best professors I have ever had! She is very kind and caring, everything she does she lets you know so you cant have an excuse as to why you didn't do good in her class. Also if you don't show up for her class you will fail plain and simple. she does one assignment weekly, one group project, one paper, and two tests.
