What a man... one quiz a class, every class a lecture, and impossible impossible 70 question exams. With multiple choice a) - h). Thats right, a) b) c) d) e) f) g) and h)!!!
Time for quiz number 3!
quiz every class, tricky exams, but offers many opp. for a curve and everything is based on lect. & book... 5/6 on quiz is A, >45/70 on exams is A, and if u do well on the final, the grade replaces all the other grades.... cant get any better then that
What a ****.. who gives you an a) - h) option on your midterm? And if he says "Huh? Huh?" anymore.. I'm gonna flip out.

Everything they say is true, he will never change.
he's the worst. he askes if we have questions, lets us ask them, and then tell us that we should just look it up in the book or ask one of our friends. i think that's what he says atleast, kinda hard to tell when he doesnt open his mouth to speak
Tricky quizzes and exams (multiple choice with a, b, c, d, all true, none true, a and d true, b and c true), no review, goes "beyond" the book so you must pay attention in class. Oh yeah, quiz every class. If you have lots of free time and like to pay attention in class this guy is perfect for you.
This guy is HAARRRDDDD!!!!!!!!!!If you want to know Economics, then take Chou, but if you just want to get an easy A, take someone else.
Insanely hard. His quizzes are easy if you stay awake in class but his exams are pure torture. Who gives a-h answers on a seventy problem exam
It's not that bad :p He will curve the final, so even it's very hard, if you study well, you would get a B easily. Talking about the test, yep, there are usually 7 answers to choose from. And actually, the stuff (amount of info.) asked by 1 exam question is equal to 4 quiz questions. Good Luc
His exams are hard, but his curve is what it should be. Read the tests before the class and you will do fine on the quizes and exam. If he does not like you he will let you know it just by the way he talks to you in class. Do good on the first mid-term and he will like you.
do NOT take his class, if u can avoid it. he likes going on power trips with his students, coz he feels econ is not taken seriously in an engineering university. it's a shame he ruins econ for everyone who could potentially learn something and actually enjoy this class. HORRIBLE TEACHER. AVOID HIM.
Very easy class, his exams are a joke and his daily quizzes are an even bigger joke. definately take this man. Easy A
Way too much time spent on this class.. i spent more time doing economics than studio! he really wants you to do well whether you believe it or not, and is more than willing to help you if u need it, but if you can avoid taking it, DONT TAKE IT!
Tough course, with tough exams A,B,C, D-none of the above, E-all of the above, F-AB, G-AC, H, BC. But he give you three shots with 15 bonus questions. study hard and you'll get a B.
Toughest techer for for Economics but gives a big curve and helps you as much as possible, study hard and you'll get a B
Take good notes.alot of stuff he says in class isnt in the book and comes up on the exam. Quizzes every class that are not so easy. exams are pretty tough too. he's a really cool guy though. he's exams may be tough and a real pain in the ass but he makes up for it with his personality.
P Chou is an awesome teacher...just pay attention in his class...participate alot and look interested and he will make it worth it for u to stay....and see him during his office hours...it really helps and he gains for respect for u...beleive me if i can get an A in teh class with a D, B, and A as test grades anyone can pass this class...
Teacher is very hard, tests are impossible to pass unless you really know the material. Multiple choice form (A-H), quizes arent as bad. To get a B+ I had to work my ass off, (reading two chapters a week, taking notes and listening to what he says in class). You can forget about taking this course for an easy A. Take advantage of his office hours.
Quite possibly the hardest course at NJIT. He's a kicker. He puts tremendous effort into teaching.. I learned alot in this class. He is VERY hard though so be prepared to learn. Actually, if all NJIT Profs taught the way he did, then NJIT might actually produce some useful graduates.

The difficulty of this class is overrated. You WILL have to read a lot and prepare for lectures, but you show effort, he will help you a lot and throw a few extra points your way.
I agree that the difficulty is overrated - if you MUST do well on tests to feel good about yourself, avoid at all costs - average score on each exam (top score has been 43/50 both tests) generally falls in the 40-50% range, but he curves 30-40% to make up for it. Difficult questions that combine three true/false questions into one.
You will be able to pass his class, but only becuase of INSANE curving. His tests will be A-H choice and you will learn nothing. You will bomb every test, it's a given. Once he curved it so that everyone got a D, NO MATTER WHAT YOU PUT. Failing every test is not a good way to learn anything.
He is very tough, but it is the only class at NJIT I actually learnt something. He has a great sense of humor and if you put in some effort you will at least get a B. I took him for both Econ classes and got A's. You will learn a lot about Economics if you take him. I wish NJIT had more professors like him, where you actually use your brain
Quizzes every class (25%). 3 tests (75%) Attendants & participation (5%). Tests are not easy have to know all (notes + book). He gives a big curve, so it possible to get A in his class. He was always there to help.m
He picked on me badly when I was continuously falling asleep in his class at the beginning... but then somehow I managed not to fall asleep in his class and he never called my name again and gave me an A for the semester... so... don't fall asleep muhahahaha~ well he's a good professor~ he knows how to teach and no homework is a big +~
You will need the book. His quizzes come directly from the back of the book (answers online). He isn't the nicest guy in the world, but his tests have gotten better. They are A-E, but the last two or three are those "both a and b", "both b and c", or all. He still curves like crazy though (30 pts or more)
great teacher!!! he explains the information very well!! if you take good notes and study the book you will get an A!!! As long as you improve with your grades your better exam score will replace the lower one! Exams are killer, but he curves a lot! Awesome Professor!!!!!!!!!

VERY HARD CLASS! Prof Chou is hard to understand sometimes, but if you follow the book when he's lecturing in class, you should be fine. Quizzes after every class. Tests are extremely hard; each question has choices A, B, C, then D is A & B, and E is all of the above. On one test, only 6 out of like 50 people got more than half the questions right.
The exams are hard, but he also gave big curves. So it's still a fair course. If you want to learn a lot of economics, he is the best. Great professor!!!
He is very tough, demanding, fair, smart, humorous, nice, & informative. He draws everyone into attention for classes. Take him if you want to learn economics!
His teaching is similar to an honors course. So you get the more-than-average experience. I learned more from him than any other professors at NJIT. He even inspired me and other students to have a minor in economics. Great professor! I wish more professors are like him!
The class gave me great insight into how our economy works. I have chosen to persue a minor in econmoics thanks to the great instruction that I received in prof. Chou's class.
Quizzes every class are directly from the end chapter questions, but the exams are HARD HARD HARD and next to impossible to use process of elimination on and you'll be guessing much of it. However there is no homework and a huge curve for exams so as long as you actually do the readings and study, and show up to class you won't get less than a B.
HE IS THE BEST!
He appears to be a tough professor at first but really it isn't too bad. Everyday there are 2-3 quizzes. Quizzes 25% exam1 25% exam2 25% final25% it is in ur best interest to read the chapter be4 class there is big curves on the exam(all exam are very difficult)
Wonderful professor..knows his stuff..curves real generously..not hard to get an A if u put in regular hours of study..attend all classes..take notes and read the text b4 hand..very helpful man..ur nuts not to like him..
Got an A without studying or reading the book and just paying attention in class. Some exam problems taken directly from book. BIG perks are the curve and if you improve on exams throughout the semester he will count that exam for any previous exams. Will learn a lot if you pay attention
Curves VERY liberally because tests are literally almost impossible. If you do well on final it replaces all previous exam grades. Come to class, pay attention. Test/Quiz Q's come word-for-word from end of chapter Q's in the book. Okay class if you do your hw!
gives quizzes after every class with most of the questions coming straight from the book. his grading curves are AMAZING. he knows his stuff and he's extremely knowledgeable.
Nice Proff..he goes at a fast pace(1 Chpt/class). Has quizzes every class n thats how he takes attandence. Knows his stuff...might teach something out of the bk & will expect u 2 know that on the exam. Curves really good. ..even if u fail all ur exams n get an A for the final u get an A for the class..study notes and read the txtbk n u will b good
Professor Chou really knows his stuff. Can be hard to pay attention at times but the class is actually interesting when yu pay attention. The stuff yu learn is the stuff in the real world. Exams are really hard but his curves are more than fair. Recommended.
Pretty funny guy. Knows his stuff, but his exams are unnecessarily difficult. Quizzes are daily and are based straight off of his lectures. Having the textbook is a MUST to pass this class. Also, this class has the biggest curve you've ever seen: An A in the class is usually a 50-60. Overall: good prof, but screwy class.
Professor Chou is pretty much the best thing you can hope for in the Econ department. I was dreading this class, but he made it bearable and even interesting at times. He has a good sense of humor, and gives generous curves on exams (which are difficult). He has a bit of an accent, but shouldn't be hard to understand. Highly recommended.
Do yourself a favor . Take this class somewhere else or with some other prof. His exams are hard for no reason, gives massive curves, but no point if your going to get only 40% of things right in the exam. Btw, 40% is the highest grade in class...
he's awesome!...
nice guy and all but his exams are extremely difficult. he gives a huge curve on all the exams though.
Overall not awful. Go to class because there is a quiz at the end of every lecture which counts as 25% of your final grade. Tests may be the most brutal thing you will ever face in your lifetime (no exaggeration...O_o) but just try hard. There is a massive curve on every exam and if you do well on the final, that pretty much is your grade...
HATE THIS GUY! DOESNT HELP AT ALL! DROP THE CLASS ASAP IF YOU WANT TO GET A GOOD GRADE.
As long as you show that you are working hard in his class by attending every class, taking notes and paying attention, he WILL keep that in mind when giving you your final grade. I averaged a 3 out of 6 on the in-class quizzes and pretty sure I bombed the final, but I managed to get an A in his class.
One of the hardest professors you will ever take! Doesn't give any homework but his exams are RIDICULOUSLY hard. Also gives a quiz at the end of every class as a way to take attendance. Very very tough course.
GREAT professor if you want to learn! He's definitely tough, but he presents the subject in a manner that FORCES you to learn it well. I've never learned so much in the course of a semester. You'll do fine if you read ahead and attend class. Highly recommended for serious students! :)
Hard to keep up with when lecturing in class. Must read book before coming to class. Quizes at the end of each class, also used as the attendance. Nice guy though. Exams are nearly impossible.
doesn't matter if you read the chap.Once he hands u a quiz/exam u will be confused because the multiple choice ranges from a-j. He curves but do u really want to take a class where you're working hard to only get a 28 (which is an A)it's boring,it'll make u mad,it's too time consuming for a GUR,it's taking too long! when is this class going to end!
Don't take this online especially during winter break always stay ahead of the lessons because if you don't you will be lost.
probably the funniest professor at njit. ive never laughed so much. after the first midterm he made fun of the person who got the lowest score (a 7) and proceeded to say things such as, " i cant find a person on the street who doesn't know how to spell economics and they can score a 14" a2075on the midterm was a C. the class is hard but huge curve
The tests are really difficult but are curved beyond belief. If you have a pulse you will pass. Study for the two midterms and final exam a total of around 6 hours (for all 3 exams) and you'll get an A
Prepare to laugh and work. He wants his students to succeed and to learn. Do the HW and read the textbookebook. He insists that you read the chapters before coming to class in order for YOU to learn efficiently. Tests are very tough, but he gives generous curves.
Okay, in order to understand his lectures. You MUST READ THE TEXTBOOK. His exams are Crazily hard unless you know what to do. And in order to know what do, You must read the textbook. His exams are 90 percent based on the book. I had trouble following his lectures manly because I rarely read the textbook. But he has a huge curve. And he's awesome.
Extremely difficult but gives huge curves on everything.
Quiz after every lecture 2 if you take him at night. A lot of material. If you read + watch everything he suggests, and are able to apply that info, you'll do well. Huge curves for every exam (e.g. 30 out of 60 was an A for the 1st exam). He's a funny guy and has a kind of inappropriate sense of humor; But he means well and wants you to do well.

A LOT OF Time and very extra effort to pass him Don't get foaled by the genres curving, he brings outside the assigned book materials and that is meant for Business or Finance majors and expects you to learn it before class. I never thought I'll be that stressed out because this Professor. you rather do a final project or a term paper than him
Honestly, if you take notes and pay attention in class, you should be fine. Quizzes at the end of every class based upon what he just taught, and the Aplia homework actually does help. He's very sardonic and doesn't take kindly to people on their phones during class, but he's accessible. If you put in the work, things will fall into place.
The man gives lectures for 3 hour for the semester. The homework is required to be completed before your class, and they are 30+ questions with at least two reading chapters. He can not speak good english, and is very sarcastic. There is not much quality in this class. I have no positives. I am doing well, but only because of the curve.
Dude is really funny, sarcastic as hell, and doesn't hesitate to call out people for using their phones. Homework is a bear, but it really prepares you for the quizes/tests. He's an experience. He has an accent, but it's understandable.
A lot of sarcasm built into this guy and will carry a comment you made in class throughout the semester. Will call you out. Two quizzes AFTER the class time has ended, basically forcing you to stay extra half hour. Also comes 10 mins late to every class.
Took him last year. Very sarcastic, that's very uncool. You need to read the textbook or else you will FAIL. Quizzes after every lecture. Great curves on quizzes though :D
Overall decent professor, accent a little tough to understand but can manage if paying attention. Quiz and test questions are definitely tricky, but he also gives quite the curve. As long as you do decent on exams you will be fine. Quiz every class so you better pay attention and do HW before. Textbook not needed as online HW system has textbook
I took both his ECON 265 and 266. An amazing professor. Very funny. If you take notes and finish all of your homework, you should get an A easily! Only annoying thing is the homework is too expansive...
Knows his stuff but makes no effort to ensure you understand the material. The simple answer always is "go to tutor" so he doesn't have to deal with you. Always runs over class time, and assigns 2 quizzes each class. This being the only reason why anyone actually attends the class. Information doesn't help much at all and I don't see the benefit.
Prof. Chou definitely knows the material and spends pretty much 3 hours a week lecturing. He does a good job of telling you what you need to know so its smart to take good notes. HW is a lot and is due every week. Exams are hard but heavily curved so if you know the material you'll do well. Its a pretty easy A if you put in a little effort.
This guy is the worst professor. He will simply hand you a packet of notes and reads it line by line. When you ask a question he'll either laugh or say read the book. He refuses to do any examples in class. Do not take him at all. Anyone who says its an easy A is wrong. This guy makes it way harder than it needs to be.
If all my courses were taught by Dr. Chou, I would have an Ivy League education. Unfortunately though, they are not. Make good use of his classes - they are a gift!
Decent lectures. Will not test you on things not in the textbook. If you just read the textbook and do the homework you should have an A. I do not understand how people don't have an A, it is purely due to them not giving it any effort.
Lecture are alright. My experience was with an asynchronous class, so lectures were optional, and could be supplemented with the textbook. If you practice with the textbook, you should be prepared for the exams.
I went into this class worried about the other reviews, but I did not see any of bad things people were saying about him. He's extremely accommodating, he extends the deadlines for hw when students ask for more time, and he sets the dates for exams based on when his students want to take them. I definitely recommend taking this professor.
He is a great professor, allows a cheat sheet for exams, allows gives homework extensions. If you are having issues just go and talk to him. He will guide you. The course is out of 126% so its easy to pass or get an A. The HW is hard but important since it is 60% of the grade. The exams are tough but doable.
I took ECON610 for my online MBA. There is no live interaction, be prepared to read the text at the pace set by professor with a decent sized quiz once a month. There is 125% grade potential so you can get a good grade by focusing on your strength. I did not need professor for guidance so can't comment on knowledge or ability to actually teach.
Took this class online and it was really easy at first but got a lot harder towards the end. Class is graded out of 125% so passing is INSANELY easy and getting an A is easy too. He is very caring and extended pretty much every single HW lmao. He doesnt extend discussion posts tho and he can be a little harsh when grading them but it was still easy
His online courses are from the initial covid virtual sem when everyone did not know how to transition and 85% of the grades are automatically graded and the participation doesn't get graded until last week of semester
Quizzes are a bit complicated as you can only study by memorizing all the chapters for that specific quiz. Weekly discussion posts as this was an online course. Homework assignments aren't too difficult. Discussion posts won't be graded until the end of the semester. Four extra credit assignments are available at the end of the semester.
As long as you stay on top of homework and prepare for exams (open notes), you will succeed. He does have daily quizzes, but they are 1-3 questions on the day's topics. I did okay on the quizzes, but I did my homework on time and got high Bs or As on exams (4 spaced out through the semester, no final) and passed with a 107%.
He gives quizzes on what was just taught in every class to judge "the quality of your attendance" which is pretty annoying, but they make up a small amount of your total grade so they are pretty insignificant. The class wasn't enjoyable, but it was an easy A.
Overall, this class wasn't all that hard to pass. He is very hilarious at times and will pick on some people in the front. Therefore, if you can't handle his words, sit in the back. He is very lenient with the homework and extends them until the last week of class. The quizzes can be confusing and are taken at the end of the every class.
It's easy to pass and he has a built in curve, class is out of 124%. He is pretty funny and lets you have a cheat sheet for tests. The attendance quizzes are a bit tough but they are only there to increase your grade. Do the cengage apply it questions to prep for his tests. Overall, he was a pretty good professor, I am gonna take him for micro.
I didn't like his teaching, but the class is super easy to pass if you do all the homework and do decent on tests. He gives a two question quiz at the end of class which also counts as attendance, but they aren't worth much. He was also super lenient and always gave extensions on homework as needed.
This was an asynchronous course. He made the most that he could (attached lectures/documents) but I just read the textbook and was fine. There is quite a bit of homework on Cengage, but they prepare you well for the four exams (not that bad). He didn't grade the weekly discussions until after finals though. Heavily curved, got an A very easily
Extra credit is only available to non-honors students. The professor lectures the whole time and leaves "quality of attendance" quizzes to the end. Read the online textbook ahead of each lecture to not fail these quizzes. The four main tests (50 questions each) in the course require the Respondus LockDown Browser and are taken during class.
Nice professor and a very easy class to pass. He can be a little hard to understand but he records his lectures so you can watch again. A lot of homework assignments but they are worth the same as the 4 quizzes all together. I recommend reading the textbook. Very lenient with hw assignments.
The professor is hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. While the quizzes can be tricky, the homework extensions and built-in curve make it easy to get a good grade. unstuck study was super helpful for prepping.
Professor Chou does a great job at covering each concept. Although the lectures can be difficult to follow with, he records each lecture for you to follow along with at your pace and also clarifies any confusion during his office hours. He encourages class participation, and provides lots of resources to study with.
