If you have a choice dont take Parsa! Being foreign she has a heavy accent, has trouble getting the complete idea of some subjects to the students, and dont expect getting your questions answered, she cannot interpret your questions because english is not native to her so she either says idk or goes of on a tangent. If Chem is easy 4 u then ur ok.
She has an accent, but I didn't really have any problems understanding her. It was a tough course (I took it over summer) but I really enjoyed myself. You've really got to show up, do the work, read the chapters, and go to labs and lectures. She'll help if you go to her and ask, but she won't coddle you. If you want to do well, you have to earn it.
She is a great teacher that knows what he's talking about. Office hours are the best way to help when you get stuck, very helpful and pushes you to think about what's going on. Tests are not easy, the practice questions are helpful, just make sure you do hw. Cool class demonstrations , fun.
She is extremely helpful and patient. As long as you put in the effort, she will meet you and help clarify concepts. Her grading is fair and the tests aren't too difficult. The practice questions are helpful. I love the experiments that she is doing in class. I highly recommend her for any CHEM course!
Great teacher. I love her organized power point presentations that also posted online. I also like her class demonsrrations. The course is going fast, so you need to either have a good chemistry knowledge or more study needed. Tests are not easy but can be done well if you reviw the posted meterials and practice on online homework questions.
Lectures were straightforward and slides are available online and should be studied. Pay attention to examples done in class because it's what she tests on. I-clicker's used for in class participation and helped test where you were at with material; online quizzes helpful for that as well. You get points for pre-lab and it helps know what to do.
She makes chemistry understandable. Try not to fall behind in this course as all material are built on top of each other so you will be lost! It seems that she is too busy to give your lab grades on time, but she will give you them all back with no reduction on late lab reports !
I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Parsa is very helpful, she wants you to be successful. Her clear lectures with presentations makes this hard course understandable. I also enjoyed the experiments that she did in class.
Dr. Parsa is so nice and understanding, go to class, print lectures, she really wants you to succeed its a hard subject so study do the hw don't miss lab and go over the test reviews. she's pretty awesome
Don't miss this class. She is the one who really cares. I love her style of teaching. She is using powerpoint presentation as well as board writing. You can print the presentation and write your notes on them so you won't be lost in class as long as you are coming to class. She is doing magic shows in class too! Enjoy her class.
This class ruined chemistry for me. For starters, she doesn't teach the material well. Boring slides with no engagement. Her accent isn't too bad. She has a slight attitude when you ask for help and she is inconsistent with her instructions. The lab was often disorganized. Her exams were not too bad but her personality/homework ruined this class.
Review for lab portion. She wasn't clear with instructions and did not help. We have to purchase a manual and a blank notebook. Unfortunately, we have to copy by hand every single table from the manual onto the notebook. We are not allowed to write in our lab manual that was clearly designed to be written in! It is a huge waste of time and money.
Based on past positive reviews, I expected to have a great chemistry teacher. Seems like professor Poupak got worse this year. I agree with most recent reviews about the class, especially the excessive amount of homework. The exam study guides were very helpful and similar to the exams. You can get an A or B if you spend many hours on this class.
DO NOT TAKE. TOO MUCH HOMEWORK. LABS ARE TEDIOUS. DOESN'T POSTS GRADES ANYWHERE!! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW YOURE DOIG IN CLASS OR WHAT YOU GOT ON AN ASSIGNMENTS UNLESS YOU MAKE A SPREADSHEET YOURSELF OR WAIT UNTIL ONE OF TWO TIMES SHE TELLS YOU DURING THE ENTIRE SEMESTER. CREDENTIALS? IMPRESSIVE. TEACHING ABILITY? HORRIBLE.
I enjoyed her lecture demonstrations. She is experienced teacher with easy to understand lectures. You just need to be present in class and do the homework. Try not to fall behind. She was providing an overall grade for us and talked to the students one by one about how they can perform better in class.
After having a good understanding of chem from last semester in chem 42. Parsa made chem 1A more confusing than it needed to be. It didn't help that her thick accent and lack of computer knowledge made lectures such a drag to go to. The book was my teacher
Very sassy to students. Doesn't make you feel comfortable to come to her or ask questions. She gives off the impression that she doesn't care about her students. She expects you to understand what she's talking about so she doesn't explain very much. The only plus side is her practice exams are similar to her exams. Wouldn't take her again.
Dr. Parsa is a fantastic chemistry teacher. She doesn't over complicate things. She makes everything relatable and understandable. I can't say enough good things about this professor. If you have an opportunity to take one of her chem classes at SRJC, DO IT! I took Chem 1A during the spring session and managed to get an A thanks to her!
By far the worst instructor I have had at the JC. Gives out a ton of hw and you pretty much teach yourself to do more than half the problems. Over complicates mostly everything class. She can be sassy most of the times as well.
An excellent professor for chemistry! Explains very clearly. Her notes as well as presentations are important and useful to review for quizzes and exams. She gives practice exams, which are similar to the true midterms. Office hours help a lot. She always replies to my emails quickly.
Great teacher. She's patient and definitely willing to help you out. You could ask her for help anytime and she'll check up on you during lab so that you're not confused. Her lectures are straight forward and the tests are fare. Review her notes do the HW and you have got it made.
Very nice knowledgable lady. Clear lectures. Amazing class demonstrations ( just like a magic show) Helpful practice tests. Don't miss her class.
Awesome teacher, very clear about everything she teaches! Easy tests since study guide is basically it. Labs are easy too, she basically gives you all the formulas. Extremely nice and helpful, always willing to help in any way. Although it's easy, you learn a lot too.
After taking Parsa for 1A I can safely say that I have never had a teacher care less about her class. She seems to have the entire semester planned out and and just recycles each time (likely why she keeps our tests after giving us our grades). This is evident in her powerpoints and predetermined, lengthy homework. Pointless lectures that dont help
Parsa is awesome! Really straight forward and is there to help, always! She makes gen chem interesting and interactive and honestly a lot of fun. Chemistry has always been a tricky subject for me but Parsa always made sure I was on track and would always check to see if I needed additional help. She is wonderful! TAKE HER CLASS.
Her teaching style is the typical lecture style. She often reads directly from the slide above, in a rather monotonous tone. Unfortunately, her thick accent can make the material she is reading hard to understand. She also seems to not care too much about making sure the material is understood as much as she used to before either.
Parsa was meh. She kind of got scattered at times and she sometimes didn't know what she was doing. Occasionally, she would be extremely confusing while explaining what she expected of students in lab. But overall, as long as you do the work asked of you and study you should be ok. And there is no lab final, so that's a plus.
Dr. Parsa has been THE BEST Chem teacher I've encountered at SRJC. I took her class after having a not so good experience with another Chem-60 teacher and it was the best decision I made. Her lectures are SO clear and she makes the material seem so simple. She posts practice tests for every exam and they're pretty similar to the actual
Prof. Parsa was very easy and very clear with her lectures. Her labs weren't that tough at all and she is very lenient with grading them. Her exams are fairly easy as well as long as you study and understand the concepts well. There are no extra credit options for the class, but it's REALLY EASY. Attend lectures and read the book!
Super helpful and nice instructor. She is very lecture heavy, her power points do have all the information you'll need so there was not much use for a book unless you don't have any background in general chemistry. She also has a somewhat thick accent which can make difficult to understand.
On of the most confusing teachers I have had in a while. I was lucky that I understood the material and could teach myself other than that she wasn't much help. She tries and she does care. She is a very nice teacher. Can easily learn the material from the book and the power points don't let her words confuse you
Chem was hard for me period, but I had hoped the teacher would at least teach us the material. I learned nothing from her and had to get help elsewhere. She does give some extra credit and I did pass her class. Just be prepared to get tutoring.
This is not an easy class and you do not want to fall behind on it. While Professor Parsa has good lecture slides, I would not completely rely on them. My advice to you all is to READ THE TEXTBOOK!! The textbook is absolutely crucial. Apart from reading the book, do the practice problems because she does not assign homework & study the study guide!
Dr. Parsa is a pretty good instructor. Her lectures are rather amusing because of her thick accent and unique use of words. She sometimes loses track of what she is talking about while she is lecturing and makes small errors when doing math on the whiteboard, but overall she is a kind lady that genuinely wants you to pass the class.
Parsa is an absolutely awful instructor. Shes very unclear what material is due when, she does not explain material thoroughly, she never replies to emails, calls, and she only has 1 office hour the entire week. She is a tough grader, gives no extra credit, and the labs are disorganized, frequently changing the format and procedures of the lab. NO
Very nice teacher who respects the students. Clear lectures. Practice tests are so helpful.
As a student new to chemistry, I was so afraid of not being able to pass this class. Dr. Parsa is making chemistry understandable and fun. I love her demonstrations in class. The lectures are posted online as well as the prep tests that you should never miss them. You shouldnt miss her lectures or it is gonna be hard to catchup. Highly recommen!
Dr. Parsa is an amazing teacher. I had chem42 and chem 1A with her. Her lectures are clear and organized, with demonstrations. She is very willing to help. Her tests are not easy, but chem 1A isn't easy with any teacher. If you want to pass, you must do and completely understand all the homework problems. I strongly recommend!
had Dr. parsa for CHEM 60 and she is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Her exams are not easy, but her lectures and practice tests are very helpful and she keeps you interested in the subject. Go to her office hours when you can because you will need it and she is extremely helpful!
Chemistry isnt easy. Professor Parsa makes it better for you to understand. If you dont put in your effort, you wont get a good grade, but thats any chemistry class. She wants you to learn and be successful in class.
One of my best professors so far. Organized and clear lectures. Emphasizing that the goal is learning so let you turn in late assessments with no grade reduction. Dont miss the class or you need to spend hours to read and understand the posted presentations and the textbook yourself.
Actually I had chem42, 1A and 1B with Dr. Parsa. Chem 1B was the dardest as it was a summer course. She is the one that cares about the students. Go see her in office, ask your questions. She is very helpful. It is clear that she has lots of teaching experience. She wants students to learn and succeed.
Dr. Parsa is arguably one of the best teachers I've had at SRJC so far. Her lectures are clear and easy to understand, she genuinely cares about whether or not you understand the material, and she's a very generous grader so long as you show that you at least understand the content. I am going to take chem1A with her.
I was very apprehensive about taking chemistry but Dr. Parsa made it painless. Lectures are clear and informative. A text book is used but I stopped reading it halfway through the semester and got by on her lectures alone. She makes herself available to provide extra help to those that need it.
I like the way that that she is teaching in class. Dr. Parsas lectures are followed by class practices and demonstrations. As any science course you need to study. But at least you can be sure that if you study, you can get a good grade. She is experienced knowledgeable teacher. I enjoyed this class a lot.
Would recommend!!! Lectures are interactive with practice questions that you do during class. She answers questions during lecture. There are four exams and a final. Practice exams given that are exactly like the test. You can retake the online homework three times and it takes highest grade. She gives only the info you need and makes it simple.
After taking Chem once before I was discouraged in chem. I took her and was ready to fail.. little did i know i was acing all my tests and had a low A throughout the entire semester. I was shocked. The second exam is the hardest and lots of us had low scores.. the rest are the usual. DO THE HOMEWORK and take your tests slowly and read ?s carefully
Im glad I took Mrs Parsa for chem 60. She was very nice, helpful and willing to take the time to answer questions I had for her in office hours. She includes learning checks in lecture slides which helps you better understand the material she just covered. Practice exams on canvas are very helpful but also study beyond them. Highly recommend!
Parsa is a great teacher in person and online. She did a great job making adjustments after the COVID-19 outbreak. Teaching yourself chem is difficult but not impossible if you read the book and take notes from her lectures, she also posts helpful YouTube videos. There are weekly quizzes/homework + labs but they help tremendously on exams. 10/10
I really enjoyed Dr. Parsa's class. She is so respectful and loves her job as a teacher. I like how she provides practice exams and posting her presentations. So helpful!
My best science class ever. Dr. Parsa is amazing teacher who understands the busy life of students. Teaching clearly and providing lots of resources and help. Dont miss this wonderful opportunity!
I liked Dr. Parsas class demonstrations a lot! She is who has sense of humor, respectful, accept your late work and in general wants you to be successful. Love her class!
So lucky to have her for my chemistry class. Dr. Parsa is an astounding chemistry teacher and is knowledgeable on the material as well. Make sure to ask specific and to the point questions so she can answer them as best she can. Definitely read the book to get an A in the class. Her notes and handouts help but make sure to go over them.
Fantastic experience! Dr. Parsa is a wonderful professor. She makes chemistry clear & easy to understand, and is so caring. But you need to work hard to get an A! Attend class, take thorough notes, do hw, read the textbook, STUDY!! If youre a science major or passionate about Chemistry, this will be a fun experience!! Take her!!
I have so SO much respect for Dr Parsa, I would have not made it through this class with any other teacher on the plant. He is there for you, incredibly patient, and soft spoken. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her!! The best professor in the world!
Mrs. Parsa is a fantastic chemistry teacher. She doesn't over complicate things. She makes everything relatable and understandable. I can't say enough good things about this professor. If you have an opportunity to take one of her chem classes at SRJC, DO IT! I took Chem 60 during the Spring session and managed to get an A thanks to her!
Had Dr. Parsa for online chem42. Very organized / clear lectures. Lectures and problem solving recordings has been posted weekly. Participation is not mandatory but I recommend that you participate in her discussions. Sample exams are very helpful and similar to exams.
I am not fan of online classes, but Dr. Parsa is providing clear , easy to follow material. Online class doesnt mean that you do not need to study! Although you dont need to memorize many things because of her online open book tests. There is always one week time to do the assignments plus one more week to submit any (no penalty) late work.
Dr. Parsa is providing what ever you need to be successful in this online course. lecture videos and live problem solving recordings are posting weekly. Just manage your time to watch the videos and take notes. You can resubmit your homework by knowing what you did wrong. No point reduction for late assignments : ) practice tests are helpful.
Dr. Parsa's lectures are terrible. They are not informative, she rushes through them, and they are very unclear. She uses her mouse to write down her work on top of the lecture slides, which makes it very illegible. She also has an accent that is very hard to understand and is very hard to get a hold of - took weeks to reply to a simple question.
Chem 42 has one weekly lecture that moves too quickly and is barely useful. It takes a lot of time to decipher what the lecture even meant, and you're left to do a long and complicated lab on your own with barely any guidance. Expect to teach yourself if you take this class
May be fine in person, but online was SO frustrating. Definitely a "copy and paste" class. I took this class bc it was supposed to be live, but she changed the time from what was posted on the schedule of classes, and "lectures" are YouTube videos. Not easy to reach, we asked multiple times before the first class if we even had class- no response.
Dr Parsa speaks VERY QUIETLY, and often her explanations of concepts are lacking in enough detail. With that said, she is more than willing to answer questions and check calculations.
Saying this was the worst Prof I have ever had would be an understatement. Her "lectures" and quizzes were copied and pasted from other profs work. Most of the time there were mistakes in the quizzes that made them impossible to complete. Easy A, but not a very enjoyable class because of this.
I was hoping with the labs being in person again this would be an enjoyable class. However, the pre-lab lectures were mediocre or non-existent and did not help prepare you for the lab at all. The lab notebook was lackluster as well. It would've been nice to have been shown sample calculations. However, during lab she was very helpful.
The course is incredibly frustrating, mainly the online portion of it. The pre-lab lectures on canvas arent even really lectures, theyre just slides made by another professor with zero verbal lecturing to supplement it. The pre-lab quizzes are often difficult to complete because of the lackluster lectures. However, shes great in in-person labs.
It was not easy to start chem 1A lab without having any previous lab experience because of COVID. Dr. Parsa made the labs doable and understandable by posting lab lectures in canvas and explaining calculations step by step. She is flexible in accepting late lab reports and excusing missing lab.
I enjoyed the chem 42 class although it was online. We had live zoom lectures with Dr. Parsa as well as pre-recorded lectures and problem solving. She is very organized and obviously experienced professor. Lectures are amazing, easy to follow and understandable. Online labs was video of labs done by someone else. Text book is free only text book.
I enjoyed this online chem 42 class. Dr. Parsa is amazing instructor. Providing lots of support when you needed. This course made me ready for taking Chem 3A which I did. I hope we could have in campus labs to be able to have actual lab experience (that was not possible because of COVID) to be more ready for challenging chem 3A lab.
Had chem 42 with Dr. Parsa before COVID hit. This course made me more than ready for my next chemistry class, chem 3A. Class demonstrations were fun. I still remember the hydrogen Baloon explosion demo at the 1st day of class. Free Text book & Canvas based homework. Practice tests were so helpful. Amazing lectures. No late penalty : )
As I had intro chem online, this lab was my first chem lab that made it challenging. Also still the lab lecture part was online but lab was in campus. Dr. Parsa is experienced instructor that made this lab understandable and doable. Mainly focusing on key parts of the report to grade. Flexible with late submissions. Patiently explaining questions.
If I could give a 4.5/5 I would. The online portion of this class is confusing at times and it's clear that the course is copy & paste. However, Dr. Parsa herself is great. Anytime I was confused with something regarding course material or something in the lab book, she had a great answer. She's very helpful in lab, overall a really good teacher!
Dr. Parsa made chemistry understandable and fun. Very organized. Test review questions are helpful.
Dr. Parsa is clearly very knowledgeable about what she teaches. She does a great job during lecture and makes difficult concepts easy to understand. The homework is very straightforward as long as you do the reading and pay attention during lecture. Her practice tests are extremely useful for studying and she also allows test retakes
Parsa was the lecture professor and another taught lab and if yours is the same, RUN. It was incredibly unorganized with labs not aligning with lectures but they were adamant they were aligned. Lectures move really fast and will not respond to emails. Very nice but explains topics as if you already know it despite it being an intro class.
Dr. Parsa is incredibly caring and wants students to learn and be successful. Lectures are very organized and understandable. She is making the labs easy to follow and lets students to correct their lab writeups. Review exams are very helpful. She even provided re-take tests : ) Don't miss this amazing class!
One of my best college courses so far. Dr. Parsa started from the basic concepts and gradually provided more advanced topics. Any time that you ask for extra help, she is ready to provide. Normal amount of homework. She is making the labs fun and understandable by providing extra information at the beginning of the lab.
I recommend
Definitely recommend. Dr. Parsa gives you practice exams which definitely help out when it comes to preparing for the actual exams.
Big thanks to Dr. Parsa for being an outstanding Chemistry teacher! She's super approachable and genuinely cares about our needs. Her clear lectures and helpful practice tests make mastering the material a breeze. Highly recommend!
She's super nice and really caring. Her feedback is always on point, and she's always ready to help out. Labs are fun and totally connected to what we're learning, which makes a big difference. Plus, she offers retakes for exams and quizzes, with 3 attempts for each! She genuinely wants her students to succeed and really goes the extra mile for us.
Parsa was a great professor, had her for lecture and lab. Lecture is a bit heavy and there's lots of information to go over, reviewing the slides before hand is helpful! She provides several opportunities to succeed in the course such as test re-takes for partial credit and late work acceptance. I would love to take her again for another course !
Dr. Parsa is a caring and dedicated chemistry professor. Her lectures are well-organized and thorough, making complex topics easier to understand. Practice tests are very helpful for exams. Missing class makes it hard to keep up, but she's very approachable and responsive during office hours and by email.
Dr. Parsa is a caring and supportive professor. Come to class, do your homework, and don't ask AI to do it for you—use it to learn. She understands students' needs and offers extra chances for credit recovery if you're trying your best.
Dr. Parsa is very understanding and grades fairly. She cares about her students passing and offers extra credit. Lectures can be heavy but she posts all the information to review. She has practice tests which are very helpful for exams. Chem was easier to understand and I recommend to anyone who struggles with understanding Chemistry.
Dr. Parsa is an amazing professor who really cares about students and wants everyone to succeed. Their lectures are super clear, well-organized, and easy to follow. Even if you miss a class, all materials are online. She is kind, approachable, and always willing to help when you need it.
is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students. Her lectures are clear and engaging, and the practice tests are super helpful. She wants everyone to learn and succeed — you can tell she puts real effort into teaching.
She's an amazing lecturer! I really wish we had her for lab too. Even though she posts all the presentations and handouts on Canvas, it's still so important to attend her classes because she explains everything so clearly. I love how she simplifies difficult topics and makes them easy to understand. Definitely one of the best professors I've had!
Dr. Parsa is an engaging lecturer who takes the time to pause and explain challenging topics further. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the class was designed, there were no "surprises" throughout the semester. Dr. Parsa is incredibly knowledgable and helpful!
