knows his stuff. hard
Hard to understand!
After having Jacobs I feel like I can breathe again. Still tough, but I like his tests, the way he teaches, and he's very helpful if you need assistance.
People make him out to be a bad prof. but he isnt, they are just lazy and dont put in the time. You put in effort and he will help you. Good guy, straight up I like him
reads from the book. I can do that. I didn't go to lecture, and i got an A.

I thought he was the worst teacher. All I have to say is don't bother doing the homework problems out of the book because they don't help at all on the tests. But he will try to sell you snake oil w/ his yems, yens, yefs, and yexes...
Chemistry is tough, but it's not his fault. He's a good teacher, although he expects you've recently had some chemistry courses. Non-trads will want to take the first level class for review before his

Overall, he's a nice enough guy- outside of the classroom. His tests are snakey (he purposely writes them to trick you), his grading is inconsistant, and his is difficult to understand. I put in the hours, and my grade does not reflect it.
Good Professor, but you need to study very hard. If you slack you will fail and you will hate him for it. But if you listen in class and do ALL THE HOMEWORK!!!! you will find it relatively easy. But you must be warned the chem is not an easy subject.
Shetty was awesome! I learned so many skills that I use every day. I really appreciate the practical lab techniques that alot of college grads stuggle with!
Shetty, started a chapter stating that the student must pay close attention for what he will illustrate in class was much easier than reading out of the book. He practically read out of the book. He even said that the man who wrote book was his old prof.
Very tough, Hard to understand. Soo hard.
tests sucked, made no sense in class, hard to understand....not worth it at all!!
Go to his office and get help. He is willing to awnser any question you have. People dont do well in his class cuz they dont put the time in. Study you NOTES for his test. He uses almost exact problems. He grades hard on test. Know defintions.
Hard class. Instructor is smart, his English is a little rough and hard to understand. If you want an A in this class be prepared to put in some serious time and effort. Know your definitions for the tests.
he is better than most options. He is very smart and will explain things. The class is hard by its self, no matter what teacher you get
His classes were awful. Half the time you couldn't understand what he was saying.
Just because he is from another country doesnt' make him unclear. If you pay attention he repeats what you need to know at least two times. Lectures are great and very explanitary. Chemistry is not a great subject, but he is a good teacher.
Shetty is a great proffesor! He makes you understand chemistry-which is not the easiest thing to do. His exams are a little surprising but you just have to figure out how to study for them. This is college after all.
I really enjoyed Dr. Shetty; he made chem. pretty easy. He explains everything in detail, repeats the important things, and always reveiws the previous lecture for the first 15min of class. Test aren't to bad, no suprises, exactly what you do in class.
Good teacher. Funny guy. Hard class. KNOW YOUR DEFINITIONS! And your equations. Labs aren't bad, but the lab reports suck.
Very hard class if chemistry doesn't come to you easy. Normally large classes...if you don't have SLA for this class, they don't let you in! Not a horrible teacher, but he talks a lot of the material instead of teaching it.
He is so hard to understand, so you really have to pay attention, which in turn you learn more. He has a funny sense of humor, and I cracked up every time he said, "wolume" instead of volume. His labs suck, and always plan to go to class.
HE is a genious and sometimes he forgets everyone isnt as smart as him but hes a good teacher and will answer any questions you have just make it a habbit to know your deffinitions conversions and equation setup
Let me tell you the man knows his chemistry but sometimes I think that he can be very unclear on what he wants on tests. The labs are relatively babyish. Most people have done them in high school.
Hey is a great teacher. Really Really funny! his tests are hard, and the material isn't easy, but I highly recommend that you take Shetty for any chemistry class.

The meanest prof I have had. Only take him as a last resort (maybe instead of Jacobs...he's just as bad)
This teacher sucks. Puts mathematical questions on his tests that are worth 40 points and takes u a half hour to solve, mult choice q's are poorly written. Even when 3/4 of the class got below a C on the test, he still blamed the class, not the bad test.
The hardest chem. teacher by far. His tests are ridiculous and impossible. Hard to understand. He goes at the most ridiculous pace ever, so its difficult to keep up and understand. Favors the guys over the girls, very obvious. Makes you feel really stupid
This professor is a really nice guy and he tries to make you understand. He looses sleep over a bad lecture and will make copies of his notes for the next class period. His tests are almost impossible though and he never curves.
Nice man, not very thorough, if I wouldn't have had V. Shepler for 121, I wouldn't have made it.
Had him for Gen Chem 2. His tests are difficult- but once you figure them out, it's not so bad. He cares about students and encourages you to ask him questions. Also had him for Chem 231. He's very smart and helps you a lot.
Strict but can be fun
he cares about his students. really nice guy.
Take chem 103 in the summer with this guy! He is 10 times better than V. Shepler!
Not a good professor at all. Very fast paced and hard to understand. His tests are near IMPOSSIBLE to do well on and he does not grade on a curve. I wouldn't recommend taking this class, that is, if you want a good grade.
took as a summer class. nice guy, made very random jokes that kept you listening. really tough tests with a lot of memorization. overall it was a decent class if you just studied.
Excellent prof. He has an accent, but it's not a big deal. Hands copies of notes from previous class often. Has lots of opportunites for extra points. Helpful. Will notice you if you're trying.
absolutely impossible... don't even try
Shetty SUCKS!!!! He has a very strong accent, so I couldn't understand what he was saying. His notes were hard to distinguish due to the fact that his handwriting is terrible! He's very specific on tests, very big on definitions; you don't get full credit unless you put his exact defn.
By far the worst teacher Ferris has to offer! Very dry personality, don't expect to laugh in this class (unless you wanna get kicked out).
Before taking Shetty's class, I had taken 3 years of Highschool Chem and had straight A's...after his class, I had a D....but straight A's in every other subject, obviously there is something wrong with that!
ahh....i'd recommend anyone other than him
Good teacher, sticks straight to the basic. as long as you study and stay up to date, the class is an easy A or B.
When you need help its not there, I had an A- in chem last year and this year I DONT. WE have done like 10 chapters all on one test. I suggest that if you give us homework make it deal with what we are learning.
teacher does not speak clearly and run through course work fast
Goes through class examples very quickly and can sometimes be rude. His test questions are tricky and are usually things that we only covered for about 5 minutes.
Shetty is a horrible teacher...period. He goes way faster than u can take down notes and his handwriting looks like chickenscratch. His tests are virtually impossible because he is so ****in picky on everything. I got "A's" in chem in CHEM 103 and high school, now it's a C. Don't take his class.
Shetty does have his favorites and if u get on his good side its easy to get his help. He will offer you his notes so you don't have to write them down in class. His tests are extremely hard and you have to have everything word to word.
if you are going to study chemitry and nothing else for months.. then take this class. he is a nice guy, unless you goof off or disprespect him. Take Weaver instead for an easier grade and better understanding
Shetty is an awesome teacher. All you have to do is go to class, take notes, and study all the definitions for the test and you'll do fine. If you ever need any help, just go to him, he's more than willing to help. I would recomend him to anyone.
Shetty is****ty. Take weaver not shetty.
Please, if you have any sanity in you.... DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! True, his accent is amusing, but that is NO reason for you to want to be in his class. I beg you. Unless you are really into chem. and know a lot already (and like to be confused) STAY AWAY!!!!
If you want to lower your GPA take this class. The guy is the worst teacher with the hardest test and is the biggest A$$ Wipe you could think of. Don't plan on using the book he marks def. wrong that are word for word out of the book. STAY AWAY!!!
Do not take Shetty. Gives way too many notes, I mean how are you supposed to know 28 pages of definitions for one test? He is crazy...I love the words I have learned..Negligible..and at-mas-phere..Too much info and NOT enough time!
In other wurdz....MAKE IT STOP!! Bring a pillow to this class, or superglue your eyes open. His testing is about impossible and unless you are going into a chemistry field. Stay Away! I like the southern indian accent. Volume = Walume, Excuse = Excooze...In Other Wurdz
his test are soo long and be put too many definitons on them. I never had enough timr to finish. when you wanted a question answered he would ask you a question
ahhh an a in high school ='s c in college.. aweeesome.. dont do this! i reapeat dont do this.
Shetty is nearly impossible! He knows his stuff and you will too if you manage to get a good grade in his class. Though he is a tough instructor, i think hes effective. Dont take him unless you are VERY willing to study ur butt off... Get lost if u wont put in the time.
For Chem. majors a must. He knows his stuff and as a Chem major you can only profit. As non Chem major, sorry but consider someone else
Dr. Shetty really knows what he is talking about. At first he really intimidates students but gets better and is very willing to help as you go. I didn't do that great in the class even though I studied like mad, but he does give a lot of opportunities for extra credit. You will definately learn!
Hard as Hell. Don't take him. All the material taught in this class is extremely new since you won't learn it in CHM121, but Dr. Shetty expects for you to know everything including the most random defintions in which you must know them word for word. Cant attend labs without pre-labs. TestImpossible
Dr. Shetty is an arrogant self-centered worst professor I have ever had. He azzumes (cuz he can't speak english) that everyone is as "smart" as he is and can understand everything right away. Never helpful, always making you feel stupid for asking questions. Overall do not take him...take Dr. P!!
Dr. Shetty is one great chem professor! He's a great guy who only wants to help his students. Yes, you must memorize definitions, but otherwise, he's always available in his office hours and helps you with exam material. Gives bonus quizzes often, I would highly recommend, realize you must work too.
do not take him unless you are awesome at memorizing paragraphs of definitions for the test. Very unhelpful and wary wary hard to understand!!!!
He is not bad, but he does not go out of his way to help students
very hard..doesn't help you at all... hard to understand..take someone else
Do NOT take this guy for Chemistry, EVER. If you signed up for his class DROP IT,and take someone else. Take it a different semester or at a different college if you need to. Class averages on tests are WAY too low. You'll be a good student getting a bad grade. I think the guy's frustrated he isn't doing research at another university, it shows.
Worst professor I've ever had!!! DO NOT TAKE! He is very unclear, doesn't explain the material well. Thinks everyone should already know most of the stuff he teaches. He's also a liar. His tests are impossible -the problems on test are NOTHING like he gives in class. Basically, he's a huge JERK.
I hated this dude, couldn't understand him, and he wanted too many definitions. Luckily I had a graphing calc so I could program all the "word for word" defs he wanted. Never would have passed w/o it.
VERY hard to understand and never smiles. Teaches way above student comprehension levels which makes it very hard to learn. I graduated with a 3.5, but left this wondering WTF. A big waste of time. If you have to, you'll make it through, but if there are any alternatives...take them!!!
I don't know what everyone else is talking about, but Dr. Shetty is awesome! Go to his office hours and be ready to learn. Memorize the terms word for word, but otherwise he's great! I learned so much more from him than my chem 121 prof. If you can't pass his class, change your major!
Watching Paint dry is more interesting then sitting thru his 50 minute class.
Besides the fact that you can't understand the guy, he really doesn't know how teach. He thinks that because he understands everything that we will too. He gives unclear answers and doesn't know how to explain anything more than how he understands it. If at all possible avoid his class.
He sucks you can't understand him his test are impossible and everyone hates him... Don't take him if at all possible. Or plan the next 16 weeks to teach yourself.
He is good. He speaks perfect English. If you do not understand him, because you are a dumb a**. Pre-pharm students, wake up, if you can not survive in his class, then you are not good enough to be a pharmacist.
He's not that bad at all. Sometimes he is hard to understand, but as long as you study hard and actually try you can do good. He does grade tests really really hard, so dont forget any details and know everything!
Shetty is very difficult to understand. His English is ok but sometimes he messes up words. You can pretty much forget everything you ever knew previously about chemistry, because he writes his own definitions for everything, and you have to write them word for word on the tests to get credit.
very unclear ideas... his broken english can be hard to understand.. i do not recomend for 122
grades very hard, tests are hard, gives extra credit after the drop date, but not before. Take good notes, GET HELP if needed, I have to re-take it as a result of NOT doing that, trust me, you do not want to have Shetty more than once!
This was the worst professor I have ever had, I am not good with math and i don't like chemistry so it made it even harder for me. He was not helpful, and he graded very very unfair. He likes to put questions on the test that he never covers in class. My major is biology and he made me want to quit!! Stay away from this professor he SUCKS.
I wish I really did NOT have to take this class for my pre-pharm major because it killed my GPA. I took him my first semester of school hear and he was HORRIBLE!! He is hard to understand and unclear with explaining his lectures. You might as well read the book and just take the tests. The tests aren't too hard but he doesnt tell you what to study
He is not that bad of a professor. To me, his sarcastic remarks were entertaining. The tests can be tricky and he wants you to be specific in your answers. Other than that, his homework is extra credit, any moron will get used to his accent. Overall, he is interested in what he teaches and wants class participation. But don't expect to get an easy
very, very hard. will schedule meetings with you and then not show up because he had something else to do. kind of hard to understand. asks questions on tests that arent what you learned about in class. take anyone else if possible.
You need to study for his tests, and learn the definitions. Attendance is madatory, and try to focus, because he's really easy to zone out. I did learn a lot though.
Shetty is an very tough teacher when it comes to tests. There was little homework and it was generally extra credit. He makes the tests pretty tough, and graded them strictly. Some people did very well while a large portion of the class disliked him, but it is possible to learn in his class but you need to study and pay attention well.
Dr. Shetty is a fantastic professor. I am now a high school AP Chemistry teacher and I give full credit to Dr. Shetty for my knowledge of lab technique and my ability to explain emission spectra.
Great professor! If you put in the time, you'll leave the semester with a vast knowledge of Gen Chem. He gives extra credit quizzes/HW, and his tests aren't awful if you study. He is always willing to help (especially in lab). Be prepared to go solo in lab though! He's pretty intense in lecture, and has strict attendance policies - but great guy!
Very hard. I studied almost every minute for his class, and it never payed off in grades. I just got more and more discouraged. He wasn't very helpful in office hours either. I also retook the class at a much more respected university and fairly easily got a B+. Only take him if you're really good at chemistry.
I could not stand this class. In High school i was really good in chemistry but when i got to his class i felt like a dumb ass. And he always stood in my way when i tried to write down notes. All i have to say is if your REALLY good at chemistry take him but if not try to stay away from him at all cost!!!!
Overall pretty good teacher. He is a hard professor with hard tests that you gotta pay attention to his wording carefully. Other than that just attend every class and look over your notes before class and you should be fine for the test. Attending every class is very crucial especially in the summer which is when I took it.
He was one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is only a tough teacher if you dont want to study and dont listen in class. He expects a lot out of his students which is nice for a change...he really enjoys chemistry and it is fun to learn from a teacher who still cares. He is willing to help the students who put an effort in the class. It
His accent is kind of hard to understand. He wants things worded exactly the same as what he wrote or how the book states it but you can still get it wrong some how...And you have to do things his way all the time nothing outside the box. I really dont recommend him!
I felt like he was out to prove a point that he was smarter than us. Test are all fill in the blank and don't ever disagree with him! Doesn't really help when you ask him a question either, he just asks the question back to you and makes you feel dumb.
He needs to treat all students fairly, regardless of majors. He needs to work on getting information across and in several ways.
His vocabulary is ridiculous! He does not put it into "everyday" terms. He recommends problems in the book(I recommend the book, it helps a lot in understanding it). He has an accent, but it's very easy to understand him. If you are bad at chemistry in the first place, do NOT take him. Nice guy, but very VERY difficult class. I had to work very har
didnt even come to the frickin final worst teacher at ferris
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! Pre pharm students BEWARE. Makes so many students switch majors after taking his class. Tests are on material he doesn't cover, you can't keep up with his fast pace note taking, and good luck understanding his accent!
He's a very difficult teacher who expects you to know a lot on the tests and in lab and expects you to be early or on time (do NOT be late for lab). But he is very intelligent and his class is definitely passable. You just have to put in the work. You cannot take a chemistry class without putting in work. Oh, and don't ask too many questions in lab
Probably the worst teacher that I have ever had at Ferris
Definitely not a mean person, but this class was hard. He was a really nice guy who liked to throw jokes in once and a while, but he's really picky on what he wants. His tests were difficult, so you really have to put the time in to get a good grade. I had this class in the summer which I would not recommend.
Has a very thick accent and awful handwriting. Don't come in late, don't talk during class, don't leave class for any reason, and don't be on your phone. Tests are hard because he is so picky, but you can drop one. He uses sun and moon analogies for everything.
His accent is pretty thick, he expects a lot out of his students. However, we had to teach ourselves the material. don't ask too many questions, and don't get up and leave at all during lecture or bother coming in late. Not a very nice guy. Tests require ALOT of studying. Pretty tough.
VERY hard teacher!! Do not show up late or want to leave for anything. Study very hard becasue he wants you to know ALL the notes for tests! Hard class, go to every one if you want to do good
Dr. Shetty is probably the toughest teacher I've ever had. You learn sooo much from him though, he makes you real good at chemistry but its the hardest I've ever worked for an A and I ended up with an A-....Straight forward though
Probably the WORST teacher at Ferris, wouldnt recommend my worst enemy to take him, he for sure needs to be fired. It is bad when other teachers make fun of him too!!!!
thick accent and is nice outside of class but will be mean in class. Do not talk while he does or else he will try to destroy your life and make you look foolish
I think students hate on him more than he deserves. His accent isnt bad, but he doesn't always present the material in an easy to understand way. You have to WORK in order to get a good grade in his class, and I think that's why many don't like him. If you show up for lecture and put effort into the class, you will have no problems.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had! You can't understand a WORD he says. All of his tests are fill in the blank and NO multiple choice. You really have to know chemistry to pass the class.
Difficult to understand sometimes. Test are hard, you REALLY have to study for them to get a good grade. Doesn't curve either. Gives extra credit sometimes but it's usually only worth a few points. Attend lecture and take really good notes and look them over before the next lecture. He's a pretty funny guy, but he has his bad moments.
This class requires A TON of attention. He is VERY PRECISE in what he wants. But if you learn his notes INSIDE AND OUT(memorize) you will do fine on the test.
He is a little hard to understand sometimes but he repeats his self so that you can get a what he is saying. He also writes down everything that you need to take notes on. Don't ever miss a class. His tests are very very hard but if you go to class and try you will learn more than any other chem teacher at Ferris.
it is very easy to lose points on pre-labs. He gives VERY tough exams. Even if you know the material just pray to God that you are not going to have a bad day, because nothing cushions a bad exam grade. You will know the material very well by the end of the course though.
Prof. Shetty definitely knows his material, but he assumes his students catch on as quickly as he does. Very difficult exams, despite the fact that he drops the lowest score. Grade is based on five exams and a handful of moderately difficult homework assignments. Unless you're a quick learner with a strong chemistry background, take someone else!
His teachings are very clear, not much of an accent and he explains things very good. Hard material overall and tests are hard, lab is easy...tough to pass the class overall.
Hard to understand sometimes and goes way too fast in lecture. Exams are somewhat difficult.
When reading Shettys reviews prior to taking his class I was scared when I found out I had to take him. I learned, however, that he is not at all as bad as people describe. If you are willing to pay attention and study for exams you will get an A in the class. He explains things very well and will repeat important information that you need to know
I was a little scared taking this class at first after reading his reviews also. However, I LOVE Dr. Shetty! He definitely knows his stuff, and tests aren't too bad. Study and you'll be fine. He is a cool guy, and can be pretty outgoing! I absolutely recommend his class. If I could have him as my Chem 214 professor, I would! I love his class.
tests are all short answer or fill in the blanks, with the occasional multiple choice question. very difficult to get an A but he knows what he is talking about. I suggest getting to know him because he is actually a very nice guy and he cares enough to remember your name
Shetty is a great guy but his test are difficult. You have to study VERY hard. I've taken him twice before and each time was the same. He will answer all your questions, even if they are dumb ones. He does have an accent but it's not hard to get used to. Just make sure you don't slack off and you'll definitely learn.
For lectures, he will show you how to do something, give a few examples, and then move on. However, when he gives a test almost every question is much harder than the examples he gave. He expects you to combine three different equations and use information that he never gave you in order to pass the test.
Difficult class, but he definetly knows his stuff. Sit in the front, actually pay attention, write everything down, and study and you will pass. He drops your wortst test and replaces one grade, but its difficult. He wants the students to succed its just a difficult class where you actually have to learn the material.
He's a good teacher, this is a difficult class. You have to study a lot otherwise you will not pass. He knows what he is talking about. His tests are mostly fill in the blank. I think he was a funny guy. Sit in the front, pay attention, and take good notes. He will explain if you ask him a question. Overall, I liked him!!
Shetty is a funny man and knows what he is doing but he moves too quickly and his tests are hard. This is not a class where your grade is handed to you. All of is tests are mainly fill in the blank or equation problems. He wouldn't be my first choice again, but he wasn't too bad
This class was pretty hard. His thick accent doesn't help either. I didn't learn anything during the lectures, I basically self-taught myself by skimming through the textbook and notes. Funny professor at times.
I liked Dr. Shetty. His teaching style is very clear and he goes out of his way to explain further if you don't understand. The class is hard and it's hard to get full credit for prelabs but he provides practice tests which are helpful. Do those and practice problems out of the book, and ask questions if you're stuck, and you will do ok. I got a B+
Very hard to understand. He's a smart guy but he expects you to be just as smart and rushes through the information. Terrible handwriting, so if you can't understand him or he said it too fast, his notes won't really help.
He is a very intelligent professor, but I feel as a 100 level course he expects us all the be Chemist the minute that we walk into his class. We are here to be taught, I for one ended up hating chemistry more after attending his class
Knows his subject thoroughly. The tests are more challenging but if you look over equations, do the review/practice tests, and the online homework you will succeed. He is funny in his lectures but remains in control of his classroom (like a college professor should). He makes himself available and works hard to make Chemistry interesting.
Extremely difficult tests which are all short answer or fill in the blank. Takes points off for petty errors such as spelling.
Honestly, yea he's strict, detailed, and expects a lot if you have little prior experience. But he is a very good professor when it comes down to it. His foreign accent is mild. It's Chemistry...yes, you need to keep up with the materials however that works for you. It's just one of those classes. Gotta study. And in his own way, he curves it.
Shetty is a very intelligent and interesting professor. However, his tests are difficult. He sets high standards for his students and his tests are slightly difficult. If you are decent at Chemistry I would still recommend him because he is thorough and knowledgeable.
Dr. Shetty is a great professor and knows how to instruct well. The class is difficult, but he makes it that way so you actually learn the material.
Funny guy and really knows his stuff, but it's a class you need to study every day. If you want an easy A don't take him, otherwise he's a great prof.
He has handwriting that if you look away for a second you will not know what is going on. He will mark you down for the smallest little details in your quizzes and tests. Just be ready to write a lot.
Not enjoyable at all. Monotone and boring.
Tests are very difficult. All fill in the blank and essayequation questions. Did not make it enjoyable.
Be ready for pop quizzes at least once a week. Tests are open ended and he is an extremely tough grader. You could leave out one word in a definition and get a point taken off. Very tough professor...
Shetty is very knowledgeable, but his class is very hard. Tests are impossible no matter how much you study. The homework assignments are graded and take hours. He gives extra credit quizzes but they are hard to get correct so they are not much help, and the labs take all 3 hours every time. The only salvation is he curves the grades at the end.
Difficult tests. No extra credit. Many quizzes. tough grader. But he is a very good teacher. He makes sure you know the material well so that you can do well on the final exam.
Chem 122 is not a super challenging course but Shetty made it so difficult. I'm an Honors student who attended class every day, had a tutor, and studied for the class everyday. The way he explains things is very confusing and he flies through the material. His tests are very difficult and you never have enough time to finish them. A lot of quizzes
Shetty was a good teacher and the exams weren't too hard.
I started the semester not so fond of his class. It was incredibly difficult for me, and he seemed cold and unapproachable. After the final drop date (many students dropped), he lightened up and I started doing a lot better. I have never done worse in a class, but I have also never learned more. I wish I had him for CHEM 121 too.
Professor Shetty is an incredibly smart and precise teacher. You definitely need to work to earn a good grade in his class, but it's not impossible. Take lots and lots of book notes; while his lectures might seem very unorganized it does follow the textbook. Get old tests from students; it made all the difference.
I took the class over the summer and it was a joke. I couldn't understand him at all, English is not his first language. All of his lectures are done by hand and his handwriting is terrible. Doesn't grade clearly or let you know how or what he is grading on. Fails to inform what he's testing and expects. Says one thing, does another. Do not take!
extremely confused all the time, hated this class
All of his problems he does in lab are similar to the test. Need to study over the weekend to get a decent grade. The SLA portion is alright depends on the person who is teaching it
you can barely understand what he says. He does not explain things fully. He basically expects you to know the information already.
He really tries to make the content interesting but the way he delivers it is not good for anyone trying to actually understand what he is teaching. The lectures seem to be pretty all over the place and you must pay 100% attention or you will miss something as he is hard to understand most of the time.
Awful. Very short patience, doesn't explain things clearly. You have to carefully pay attention because he's all over the place. Writes all of his lectures on the projector but you can barely read his hand writing. Doesn't give objectives for tests, gets angry if you ask for help. I would avoid him at all cost, just an overall rude man.
Worst teacher I have ever had! He is awful at teaching, He is also very hard to understand and confuses his words a lot. His tests are very hard, Their is written responses and he marks you wrong no matter what. I had the exact same definition he gave in class and marked me points off. If you can take any other teacher do so!!!!
Shetty was incredibly hard to understand, and he moved way to quickly for an entry level Chem class. I hadn't had chem since my sophomore year of high school, but the girl next to me who took AP chem struggled too. Quizzes every day, tests are incredibly hard. He says he gives partial credit but don't expect it.
AVOID THIS TEACHER. I am a all A student and had to withdraw from the course cause he made no sense and was just plain confused. Had to retake the course with a different teacher and it was ten times easy that time around. Shetty doesn't care about students and doesn't care if you pass or fail. Not easy to talk to and very unfriendly. AVOID!!!
I had Dr. Shetty for 2nd Semester General Chem, I finished the class with C. You have to work hard for a C, his exams are tough but he is very unclear on which concepts or chapter sections each test will be covering. He is quite strict with his labs and will also grade pretty harshly. Homework had no late points. Find someone else.
Lectures were confusing at first, but once the semester went on I got used to the structure and what was expected. We had online homework and it wasn't bad. You just have to put in a few extra hours doing practice problems and really understanding concepts. Dr. Shetty really likes proving concepts during lectures. It's honestly not that bad. Relax.
Awful. His only form of teaching was writing notes through the camera/projector for us to copy word for word. Very unapproachable
Dr. Shetty can be difficult to understand at first due to his accent and has quite the bad reputation. However, I excelled in his course. He is very straight forward in lecture and makes it very clear when he is introducing a key term. If you copy down what he writes in lecture and connect it to the text you will do well.
Do not take this professor if you aren't prepared to really study for a course. The entire class is very lecture heavy and he always assigns lots of online homework without telling you when its due. Overall, he really knows what he is talking about, but if you don't like a lot of work you will struggle in this class. Would recommend SLA
He's so bad. You can barely understand him in the lecture and he tests you on things he didn't even teach. The homework is online and you can't do it without reading the book and teaching yourself everything.
Dr. Shetty is a witty, comical, friendly little ball of sass, and he really is a great professor, but damn was Quant a challenge. Pulling an A in this class was one of the hardest I've done (I'm a Biotech senior with a 4.00). Expect to work for it, but I really did learn a lot about analytical chemistry, and my lab skills drastically improved.
Dr. Shetty was the only teacher offered at the time I needed it and taking him was a big mistake. He doesn't do a good job on teaching kids so they actually learn he's there just to get a pay check. He gave a lot of homework and you have to do a lot of learning on your own. He also never gave reviews before tests and his tests are very tricky.
If at all possible, avoid Shetty. I have gotten all A's throughout high school and college so far and I'm hanging on to my B- by a thread. You can hardly understand him because of his accent and his writing is illegible at times. He does not review whatsoever for exams and you mostly have to learn the material on your own outside of class. AVOID!
Professor Shetty is of a different breed. He is a very complicated teacher, to understand what he is saying and to read his writing is hard. His test averages are low and he blames the students what a joke!!!!!!!
This was the worst class I have ever taken! I studied for hours on end for test and still got awful grades. He is very unclear what he expects from you when it comes to test. He is extremely unapproachable. He is too smart to be teaching such a low level class he goes way too in-depth with thing you cant understand what is being taught.
Shetty is the worst professor at Ferris. Not only can you not understand what he is saying, but he flies through the lecture as if we should all know what he is already talking about. He Isn't friendly at all & I feel like he's always calling students out, which makes it difficult to ask for help. Avoid him at all costs if you want to pass Chem 122
He really knows his stuff, but does not know how to teach it to first year chemistry students. Will mark you down for not having correct significant figures. Had a hard time reading his handwriting and understanding him sometimes. Extra credit quizzes saved my grade.
He is a good guys, but not very good teacher. He has too much tests and quizzes, if you want to pass, you should work very hard. For CHEM121, my instructor is Dr Thomson his the great teacher, I think he is the better choice. If last semester I do not have biology class, i will choose him
he was very rude and short. didnt seem to care about our well being in the class and was there for a pay check
Literally the worst professor at Ferris. I've taken Chem 122 twice with him and I haven't passed both times. Biggest mistake taking him, I promise you will not pass with anything higher than a C+. Do not take him if you want to pass Chem 122. I recommend taking Chem 122 at a community college.
could not understand a word he said. very tough grader and lots of pop quizzes. would not suggest to anyone
Dr. Shetty is a great guy and great professor. He is very tough and expects a lot but if you study every day expect to learn more than any class. He is very funny and caring.
AVOID DR. SHETTY AT ALL COSTS. His lectures are very dense, fast paced and only consist of his notes projected in the front of the room. Very rude and unapproachable man. Gives quizzes very frequently and they can be tricky, he makes you feel very rushed with them too.
I would not recommend Shetty because his tests were extremely hard and unfair. He is not afraid to call students out in lecture or lab. If you have a question, don't bother asking him because he can't explain other perspectives on course material. You can receive a decent grade, but expect to work for it.
Professor Shetty is tough to follow through his lectures. They are very fast paced and he can become frustrated when students don't understand the material he's trying to teach us. He is clearly very smart but has a hard time putting it into terms that we can understand. He gives a lot of quizzes, sometimes with little preparation time.
He's a great guy. He makes jokes in class and you can tell he cares about his students' learning. The class moves very fast, but it's good to learn as much as possible. The textbook helps out a lot. There are a lot of quizzes and tests which are pretty hard, but overall it's a great class. Just don't skip, take good notes, and you'll be fine.
One of the worst profs at Ferris. Verbally abuses students for making mistakes or being wrong on questions. 500/650 points are tests but they are basically the online hw rewritten. He will put questions on hw or tests that were never even touched on in class and will not inform you ahead of time. Takes 1- 30 days for him to grade tests. Have fun
I would advise to stay away from taking this class with him. It is very hard to understand him. He does not answer emails or rarely helps if you need it. If you go to office hours his response will be Youll be okay, youll pass. Hell give long quizzes, but make them only worth four points. This class with him was ridiculous.
Dr. Shetty is an excellent professor who expects a lot from his students. If you take a course with him, then expect to work hard. While your effort may or may not be recognized, you will complete the course with a comprehensive understanding of the material.
I was a straight A student in high school and this was the first class I ever got a B in. While Dr. Shetty can be a bit rude, hard to understand, and unclear on what is on the test, the class did teach me to advocate for myself. Switch professors if you can, but if not, be sure to sit in the front and go to office hours with questions.
Dr. Shetty never asks you to read anything in the textbook, but that's how I passed the class with an A. I went to his office almost every week, and it was extremely helpful. Push past his intimidating mannerisms, and just GO. TO. HIS. OFFICE. If he can tell that you don't care about the class, you'll have a hard time passing.
If you didnt pass chem 121 with a good grade you wont survive shetty. Never been more relieved to get out of a class. Changed my major before the add/drop time frame was up, not saying he had everything to do with my major change but his teaching style and lectures made me dread what was my dream job. Stay away from Shetty if you want a good GPA
Invasive of privacy and expects students to already know all of the material before it's even taught. Unless you like teaching yourself don't take this class
I dont have enough words to explain how bad this class was for me. Professor Shetty is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He is extremely hard to understand and his homework and tests are basically impossible. I barely passed this class and that never happens. Hardest class I have ever taken in my life! Avoid Shetty if you can!
I don't usually get bad grades and, for me, it was impossible to get a good grade in this class. He doesn't clearly teach the material, so if you don't have a good background in the subject, find another teacher. I went to office hours, tutors, and still struggled. Seriously, don't take unless you're trying to prove a point.
