Explains question throughly He knows his Finace well enough to make you get it - read and do the homework you will be okey
Professor knows his stuff, and he's friendly, BUT exams are tough and he's very evasive when asked about his grading policy. I thought he was better than Verma at first, but now at the end of the semester, I think they're about the same.

He knows his stuff but he doesn't give reviews. Did all the homework and still failed both test. He gets upset when you ask him for a review or his grading policy he gets very upset...even threatened to take or cheat sheet away!!!
He goes over all the homeworks after each chapter, so there are plenty of reviews. All you need to do is read the book, go over the homeworks and get a good grade. HE is good.
If he gives reviews then he has changed his teaching style. His test were nothing like any of the HW problems. Good Luck to all.
He doesn't know his stuff. Doesn't deserve to teach at college level. He can't even solve problems and then claims that the book has the wrong answer. Students then have to correct him...and I'm not talking about calculation errors, he solves it the wrong way. So if you learn wrong information at senior level, this is who you need to take. Goodluck
The worst teacher ever in UHD. Doesn't know how to teach. Not helpful at all. Never in the Office to help and you try to get help from him, he shows attitude. His tests are horrible. Makes a lot of mistakes in his tests and if you try to point out his mistake, he is mad at you. Very very boring.and by the way I made an A in his class.
He was awful and arrogant. I will never take him again. His Tests were not like the homework problems. I tried super hard in his class and still did not do well. He is not flexible and won't let you write notes while he's going over the Exam, so you have nothing to go by to study for the COMPREHENSIVE FINAL. I HATED HIS CLASS! TERRIBLE TEACHER!
Does not like questions, very hard exams. His in class work and exams are not even close to each other. Teach yourself with packet and book. Talks alot about his past and little about what is on the exam.
I found him to actually be quite good, really knows his stuff. He was willing to take questions, but he's still quick to blame problems on "clearing the calculator". The tests came straight from lecture notes and homework, and he allowed a note card (two for final). As long as you come to class and do the work, you should do well.
He's really not a bad professor, you have to really pay attention and basically learn most of it on your own. Tests are hard but if you study you will do just fine. He's actually a pretty cool guy...
HORRIBLE TEACHER- EXAMS ARE SUPER HARD BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM HIS LECTURES AND HOMEWORK PROBLEMS.
Since he has totally changed his teaching style ask someone who has taken classes from him over the last two semesters. He is the best professor at UHD in all aspects of teaching with a real business experience. Over 95% students enjoy his classes.

Great Prof! I hate Finance and got an A in the class. He teaches only what is needed, and makes sure you understand the material. Tests can be tricky (espically the second one) so study a lot. Do the HW probs over and over, and study the PP. If I had to take another Fin course, I would definatley take him!
He is a wonderful professor in UHD. If you want to learn finance, (especially finance major), RECOMMEND TAKE HIM. Test is Ok (some problem is exactly come from the textbook example and he shows in class)-you will get A.

Highly recommended! I liked Dr. Deo's class. Attendance not mandatory, but you get points each day if attend as there's a daily in-class assignment, which helps with exams. Some questions done in class were on the exam. He instructs from powerpoints, not so much from book. Exams, not too hard - only 2 tho. PRACTICE HW problems and you'll be fine.
Good Prof....heavy accent though. He'll let you use 5x7 card as a formula sheet...that was really helpful! If you do well on the test you'll do extremely well on the Final. I took him in the summer and I would take him again for another class.
Not recommended at all! If you want to waste your money and time and still want to work hard for no reason than take him.
Dr. Deo is sometimes hard to understand. Pay attention and ask questions if you are unsure. PRACTICE the problems more than once! He let's everyone use 3" x 5" cards on the tests which are lifesavers. Be as thorough as you can on those and you should do fine. His class isn't quite as scary as the syllabus makes it seem, but it's no picnic either.

Great teacher who makes the material easy to understand. Lets you use a formula card for all tests. Mandatory attendance if you want to understand the material and for the daily in-class assignments. Would highly recommend for finance, especially compared to the other teachers for this course.
The best finance professor at UH-D. Test questions are similar to HW and examples worked out during class. 2 tests and a final. 1st and 2nd test was MCQ and T/F. Final was 20 MCQ questions. Lets students use a cheat sheet. I made an A.

Deo is the BEST prof for Finance.He explains &solves all the problems to where u understand.Ur lowest grade is replaced w/the highest grade of the 2 exams.U must attend class for an extra 5 pts that boosts ur overall grade-it helps.Deo is caring & works w/students offering extra pts if review ur tests during office hrs.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!AWESOME

Just took him & he explains very well, but tests are extremely difficult.He doesnt provide a review so you don't know what to study.He drops the lowest grade but the grade scale changes & it really doesn't improve your grade.Overall he is good but his tests are challenging and he doesn't return them so you can't study them for the final.
Professor Deo explains the content very well and works them in class. He allows 3 index cards for each of the 2 exams and a piece of paper for the final. If you buy the calculator he tells you to, and practice the problems you should do fine. It is recommended to come to class each day, because you get participation points and they help your grade!
Helpful, direct, explains well, good sense of humor. You must attend class, he takes roll by method of daily in-class assignments. He allows notecards for exams & assigns HW to help with exams material. He explains the cases very well & gives lots of real world advice. He is definitely 1 of the better Finance teachers!!
This was an online. DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE. He makes up his own question for the test and half the time it's none of the above and most of the time the questions do not make sense even you have studied by reading, and doing all the problems. I have heard he is better in class.
He is an excellent teacher. I never thought I would like finance, but I have learn a lot from this prof. He is not easy, you need to attend class and study to do well in his class. he knows how to explain the material. I recommend him ...take him...
His a great professor, he knows his stuff, he explains and if you dont understand it just ask him again and he wil claritfy, he gives extra points, he base his self on poerpoint slides. I would defintly recommand this professor.....
This is an online class. Course was very difficult. Many exam questions had nothing to do with the chapters they were supposed to be derived from. Plus time to take the exams are very short, 1 1/4 hrs only. You will be stressed out all semester long. Try another professor instead.
You read the book and do the homework and his test are completely different. Even thought you study how to do the problems his test has nothing to do with it. Very hard, email him for tutoring or anything no respond. Online class was hard to help from him at all. do not recommend.you will stress like crazy.
Do not Take this professor. His online class are impossible to pass. He tell students to do the problems in the book but it's nothing like to test. His homework questions has no questions similar to the homework. Most teachers MO is for students to learn, but he doesn't do a good job at all gving students enough information to pass his calls.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! Just finished an online semester with him. Needless to say that his tests and final have nothing to do with the end of chapter homework. He does not provide a review for any of the test nor final but expects you to study the end of chapter questions, textbook and slides which are no match for the test.
Class online was very challenging. Exams are extremely difficult. Projects wwas time consuming but doable. Do not take him online. Above all, he was very understanding when I spoke with him regarding exams and material from the homework.
Took in over the summer, Prof Deo is a nice guy that wants you to learn but unless you already have a history in finance it will be a hard to time to keep up. Going to class every day and bringing in a textbook is a must. He will also work with you if you have some kind of issue.

Took class online. Very clear on what he wants, however he wants a lot! Met him in person speaks really fast, and tries to help if you need help. Explains from scratch which helps if you know nothing about the subject. Over good teacher for online. Dont know about in class.
Took this course Summer I online. Pretty easy course, 2 exams and final. Exam I 22 questions Exam II 18 questions and final 30 questions…just study his solutions for homework assignments and it will break everything down. Textbook is not a necessity. Made a B with very minimal effort. highly recommend!!! not sure about Fall or Spring terms though
Great teacher. Has a lot of stories about how the real world works. Projects were great and helpful. Test are not easy but you should know everything already from previous Fin. classes. Nothing new is really learned but real world assignments are used. Best Fin teacher I had and I graduated May 2013 with a Fin degree.
This Professor is weirdly shy when you try and ask a question. Teaches useful real world situations. Has in-class assign. every class! The tests are hard and not like the HW as he says. You have to have a good in and out concept to do well in the class. Does not really like office hours or answering emails. I made an A but I worked super hard!!!
nice guy but lectures are a bit boring. in-class assignments easy, 2 midterms and final which he allows cheat cards. also had to complete an easy class presentation. overall this course was not difficult I recommend.
His lectures are straight forward and everything gone over in class will be on test. He allows cheat cards which make the test easy if you take notes well. Also, he took into consideration the students opinions which was appreacited. I would reccommend. Do homework and cheat cards. Easy Pass
Great professor for summer course. Allowed cheat cards for test. Test questions reflect in-class and homework assignments. Allows students to review their test in office, this allows for feedback and clarification. Questions on final were very similar to test 1 and 2. Overall a great professor!
Avoid for Online. QuizzesTests contain LOTS of teacher errors (causes wrong answers to be calculated). Very defensive. Does not respond quickly. Is rude in responses. Avoids answering directly. Allows group work on quiz. Provides chapter review notes. Mostly learn on your own. Loves TF. Will NOT take again.
Allows 3 "3X5" index cards during test. I just finished taking Investment & the final was the same questions from his prior 2 test, which he only allows you to see what you did wrong in his office 1 on 1. his test are 60% quantitative and 40% theoretical. Test are from HW problems and powepoints he gives you. Test are tuff, but he curves. Study!
This professor was one of the worst i've had. 90% of the class failed the first test horribly. He gives these easy in-class assignments but come test time, it's like a whole new subject. Rushes through material without explaining. I cannot stress how ridiculous the test was. Even with the notecard tests looked completely random. DO NOT TAKE.
Deo expects you to be in class to do in-class assignments, 60% 2 midterms, 30% final and about 13-15 inclass assignments. the guy has a heart, awesome dude, great personality. does not want you to fail
His tests are tough, but do the homework and you'll pass his tests. There is a lot of information in this class, but he will help you understand it. He allowed note cards for the test. And he actually taught how to use the calculator! I enjoyed his sense of humor and would take him again! Daily quizzed count 10% which he helps you through.
his exams are like 8 to 12 questions. but they are very difficult so if u fail 2 questions its a c. you have to study hard to pass this class.
Just listen to what he tells you to do and you'll pass. He only gives 2 midterms, which are 3 chapters each AND you get 3 note cards for them, back and front. Gives in class pop quiz each class that are an easy 200 points each time. He gives you the answer. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CALCULATOR HE ASKS YOU TO GET.

Honestly, just listen to what he says. Also BUY THE CALCULATOR HE SAYS TO BUY. He won't help you figure out how to use any other calculator. Its around $35, not even that bad
I have taken Dr. Deo for 3 classes at UHD: Principles of Finance (B), Investments (A), and Small Business Finance (A) His small business finance class was by far the toughest course of the 3 he teaches, even though I still got an A, I had to really work hard for it. The other two courses are pretty straight forward, just study the HW solutions
Avoid at all costs. I did not learn anything from this class and I've never had a Midterm count for 40% of our grade. Does not give out extra credit or curve exams. Let me put it this way, I've never had a C on my transcript (actually my last C was in 2nd grade) and this will be my first C since then... Awful awful awful..
AVOID AVOID AVOID. I have never done so poorly in any other class in my university career. His zoom meetings were mandatory & he is very hard to understand. Also moves slowly. Midterm & Final are huge part of overall grade with only 12 questions on each. So if you miss 3 you're making a bad grade for the class.

All quizzes and tests are on lockdown. You get notes to review and long chapters to read, and most of the information will not be tested on. You can study hard and still not do well. The Final is 50% of your grade. The final was only available in a 2-hour time slot on Saturday scheduled by the professor.
If you want to take this class be ready. You need to take lots of notes and have time to take this class. Is not an easy pass.
I thought when I took Professor Deo I would have a tough time because of the reviews but this course is actually well taught. He gives quizzes on all chapters and only 1 exam which is the final exam that is worth 45% of your grade. Also, prepare for in-person class assignments. As long as you pay attention in class and study you will do well.
he cares about students, he wants you to pass. IF YOU GO TO EVERY CLASS HE WILL PASS YOU. he genuienly just wants you to learn. He doesnt punish you if you dont know anything, instead he will break it down and help you understand. he gives lots of easy assignments in class worth alot of points/ he is a great professor for students!
How to pass the class: (1) ORDER THE TEXTBOOK IMMEDIATELY. (2) STUDY HIS LECTURE NOTES THE MOST. (3) SKIM THE POWERPOINT. (4) BE VERY LUCKY. The quizzes were fine and based on the textbook. The final exam, which is 55% of your grade, had NOTHING to do with the textbook or quizzes. A reasonable percentage would've been 40% at most.
This class is a bit of a challenge but double! the final is worth for 40% of your grade. There are quiz questions that are word problems be ready to read the PowerPoints and extra documents for the chapter. Get the financial calculator before hand it will help out in the future.
Avoid this class, especially during the summer online. This is the worst. He doesn't help with anything, he kind of belittles the student in the beginning syllabus quiz making you feel stupid. This is the worse professor I have had. Six quizzes are 45% and the final that is totally different is 55%. Bizarre
Do not try to take with this professor online, he doesn't teach anything. The only hard principle you learn in this finance class is finance at its best, you paid an outrageous price for a class that is a waste of time and money. You are only making the system richer and the student poorer, stressed and confused.
Barely escaped with a B. if these professors have anything lower than 4 of 5 rating. SKIP THEM. it saves you time. i can go on about how bad my experience overall has been but so many others have said the same thing in the comments.
Took this class synchronous during the Fall 2024 semester and it was fair. As long as you keep track of your due dates and consistently take time to review each chapter, you will pass. Finally, having the required financial calculator is VERY HELPFUL!!
he is an ok professor, but i would not recommend his class. you're only graded on attendance/ participation, quizzes, and the final that is 48% of your grade. his lectures are confusing and he goes really fast. he does not show the problem he is working on in class which makes examples useless. be prepared to teach yourself and hope for the best.
Professor Deo isn't the best professor I've had, but he also isn't the worst. He allows you to use an index card for each quiz and a whole page for the final exam with formulas and such - which is super helpful. There are in class assignments (15%), quizzes (37%), and one final (48%). Take advantage of the allowed resources for each quiz and final.
Final is 48% of the grade. Went from an 88% to a D. Only missed class 2x this semester. attendance isn't mandatory itself but he does do in class assignments which end up helping. Exam was only 21 questions all math heavy. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOUR GPA MATTERS. As for myself, first D i get ever at UHD. I'm an A/B student.
Thought i was going to get a D. Ended up with a B. Final was 48% of the grade. He curved it, didn't know official grade till it was released by the university. He will absolutely not give make ups, attendance not mandatory however in class assignments will help. If you miss could drop grade from A to C.

Class consisted of 9 quizzes and a final. You pretty much have to ace the quizzes in order to get a passing grade. Many of the supplemental information was poorly written with grammatical errors and concepts were not explained thoroughly. Take notes on formulas, break down concepts and use the quizzes as no review is provided for the final.
