Interesting Lectures
He was'nt smart instructor and problem-solving were useless and complex. He was not clear on his lectures and many times it was confusing to learn somethings. He was cheap and not sure if he has knowledge about his courses. I do not suggest.
He is very personable and helpful. His tests are tricky but not hard. His knowledge about practical applications is enormous. He is definitely the best among the department.
Extremely flexible and helpful teacher. Really wants to do everything in his power to help you succeed in his class.
This is a terrible professor, the worst prof in the ENCS.
His way of teaching makes you think. He always links theory to practical applications.
He has no background in DSP so he can't teach well. His lecture is not good. Also, he is always not available to help students. Very disappointed to take this course, waste of tuition.
Dr. Sekhar copies the book on the board as his lecture "notes." He provides no examples outside of the book examples. He is not interested in answering student questions during office hours.
First, his lectures are about as good as they can be for a course of this nature. Everyone that did poorly on the final just went over the lecture slides and wrote down all of the formulas and complained when they didn't understand what the formulas mean. Open the book look over the example problems and do them 3 times. Stop being lazy. heisgreat
Sekhar taught ECE302 in a straightforward way. I felt that he may not have had the same expertise as the previous professor but was able to teach the fundamentals to his class. He was more than fair in grading and in the exam questions. If you did the homework and proper studying, you're very likely to receive a good grade.
Sehkar is like many other professors at this school. He lectures based on textbook examples and lecture slides. The quizzes were straight forward, but the final strayed from the material covered during class and was more focused on textbook material. He needs to relate slides to more align with textbook if thats what is on the final. Nice guy tho.
He is a reasonable professor. If you read the books and do examples, youll do fine. He posts his notes online and is responsive to emails if you have questions. He is also willing to work with you when life happens. Voice your opinions to him about a course and he will take them under consideration when they are reasonable. I had 5 courses w/ him.
Dr. Sekhar's lectures suck and there is a clear disconnect between his lecture, homework, and exam material.
Dr. Sekhar is a fair professor. Communication is the best practice in his class. The homework and tests were both from the book and examples in class. He was also eager to answer questions that any student had. As long as you do the practice problems in the book you will do well.
His lectures follow the book. If you do the homework you will be fine in the class. The material can be difficult to understand.
Dr. Sekhar is a good EE professor, and genuinely cares about the success of his students. Some lectures can be hard to follow or dry, but such is the nature of some EE topics, and Sekhar is usually available during office hours to go over material. Exams are fair but generally a bit more difficult than average, even being open-book.
Sekhar cares about his students, he treats everyone with respect and listens to feedback. The exams are open book and the questions similar to examples in class and in the text book, however usually the exam questions will have a small twist. Which are easy to handle if you know the material. He's grading is fair if on the generous side.
In this class, we learnt about various analyzed methods about the measurement data, which will be helpful for testing and verification jobs. We also do an individual project. My project was design a single microstrip patch antenna . Then, using the methods to analyze the data. The exam is fair, not too difficult if you understand the homeworks.
Dr. Sekhar is really a nice person and careful about the success of his students. If you really want to learn something you should take his course. His homeworks are really helpful for exam. His exams are a little bit tricky but you should be fine if you have clear idea. His lectures are good and teaching style seems excellent.
Dr. S. Praveen is a great professor that is most concerned with his students understanding the concepts of a course so he takes a lot of time trying to explain the concepts to his students both in the class and outside the class. He is also very friendly and easy going.
This professor may be hard to understand at times with his accent but he does go over examples thoroughly. He answers questions, and asks questions back to the students for clarification of their question. The homework and quizzes/tests weren't too bad, just make sure you study beforehand. Overall, he is one of the better instructors I have taken.
Statistical class with two books. Sekhar is friendly and cares if you learn the material. Much better than other statistical classes as it applies to actual experiments rather than picking balls out of a jar. Enjoyed the class and would take again.
Gives help when asked, he wants his students to pass. Generally explains concepts well, more so when asked to explain from a different angle.
This course is about the validity of your data. It goes over various techniques on how to verify and understand your data. Dr. Sekhar is one of the toughest professors. He expects his students to have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of each ever course you take with him. That being said he cares about his students and tries to connect.
Class was taught well. Homework given helped with the overall understanding of the materials taught in lectures. Tests and homework followed closely with the lectures, making the material easy to learn if giving the effort. Cared about students understanding the concepts before moving on.
This class is fairly easy as long as you do the work and study. Dr. Sekhar clearly explains the material and is understanding if you have questions or concerns.
The course is an in major statistics course, all about data checking. There is two books, one used in the first half of the semester the other in the second. The first book is not good. The lectures are on point and especially in with the first book, explain concepts better. Homework is time consuming, but gets the topic through into your head.
The focus is mostly on learning some materials and how to use them in real-world situations than teaching as many topics as possible. It might be difficult at first, but after a while, it will be simple to understand the procedure.
Homework is hard and time taking. The professor is awesome and has a sense of humor. The exam is tricky but interesting :P
a useful course and the professor is nice
Good professor, cares about students and is flexible with material as we went back and covered sections in the textbook not covered by previous instructor.
Great professor with a lot of cares
Doctor Sekhar utilizes a teaching style that is very understandable and is filled with examples, both basic and more complex. At the same time, he is receptive to students various levels of knowledge and tries his best to accommodate them all. In addition, his exams are an excellent test of student learning using relatively simple problems.
One of the very useful courses that I had in my Masters' level, completely focused on industry-driven quality analysis methods. Most importantly, Dr. Sekhar knows well how to keep the class alive with real-world practical applications, which help students to understand the topic efficiently. Outside the class his door is always open for students.
A good choice to learn experimental methods.
The Electrical guys do not have a background in this course so, at beginning, it may look unfamiliar and you may face difficulty to comprehend some of the topics. The best thing is Prof Parveen is very friendly and solves a few examples in the class which is very helpful. He is very serious about his teaching which is good for 'serious' students.
Lectures are very good, and he makes sure you understand the topics before you leave for the day. Hes a funny guy, and truly does care about his students. The homework level is manageable, the quizzes/exams are fair, and he covers the material exceptionally well. I highly recommend taking a class with this professor.
I took ECE 525 course with Dr. Sekhar. The course was pretty well organized and he will make you work hard to have the best grade. Eventually, you will learn how to do data analysis using Excel and some other tools. I enjoyed this course.
Openly admitted at the beginning on the semester that he is not the most talented instructor, but promised to make up with his commitment to students and being responsive to feedback. He makes a significant effort. He wants students to learn the material and not just fake their way through unlike most professors at WSU-V who just want their metrics
leaning how to deal with data from experiments or survey. easy to pass, but not easy to get A.
In ECE501, you will learn several topics of various fields in electrical engineering, including scaling laws, microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, sensors, and integration. If your focus is on semiconductor industry, this class is helpful for you. You will write some review papers as your homework assignments.
Graduate level class. Good instruction taught with first hand semiconductor and sensors experience that brings everything together in the end. Writing class with a group project.. blah but what ever. Do the work and it all works out in the end.
I took ECE 525 in the previous semester and got A. He has a clear concept in his teaching topics, always listens to students' opinions and cares for them too like reducing HWs and extending the deadline. His lessons have connections with the real-life world researches. He also jokes sometimes which I like most. I learned a lot from this course.
The title of the course is Lab-on-a-chip. The professor has practical working experiences in this field, especially in the micro, nanofabrication and sensor areas. It's an interdisciplinary field meaning that it's not confined to electrical engineering concepts only. You will learn scaling laws, microfluidics, sensors, and their fabrication.
You might think he gives you lots of homework to just make your life hard for you, but at the end of the day, you realize how much that hard work pays off in the future.
Class is heavily focused on lecture and uses research papers, that the professor finds, as supplementary material. The homework is straight forward, read the research paper and write a review. There is a group writing project. Exam is pretty straight forward. Learned new concepts and information in this class.
great professor that who is willing to help student. I personally like him a lot because he is willing to work with students when they needed help. the classes he teach are really difficult so a lot of people doesn't like him. The test he gave out can be really challenge time to time but overall he is a good teacher to have.
If you wish to study MS in EE, you should start your degree with this course. The first half of the course is a recap of some topics from undergrads. But, the last part of the course will teach some fundamental statistical tools from the ground up. Professor teaches the concepts in very clear way. You will find him very helpful. Enjoy!
Is an expert in many subjects and his breadth of engineering knowledge is wide. Will assign tough homework to prepare you for anything the real world will throw at you and to make sure concepts are completely understood. Responds to emails outside of class near instantly to answer any questions you may have about concepts or homework .
Dr. Sekhar was a great professor. He does make you participate in class, but that does help you learn, in my opinion. Homeworks could be long, but they weren't terribly difficult. On the other hand, I think he was rather reasonable in his homework and midterm assignments. He was also always available for questions if needed.
He really cares about his students success and will help out as much as you ask. This class is as hard as you want it to be. If you don't understand he gives plenty of opportunities to ask in class or outside of class.
This was for the Capstone Project. He tried really hard this year with COVID to get projects for his students. He has a passion for his students and really cares for them.
Great professor who cares about the success of his students. Even online his lectures are pretty great, and the grading criteria for all assignments and exams is really fair. Would highly recommend taking a class taught by Dr. Sekhar.
Sekhar is the best EE professor at WSUV. He truly cares if you are succeeding in his classes. Cannot say enough about how great of a professor this man is.
Excellent professor for an excellent course! Very genuine professor who makes sure all students succeed and are able to learn as much as possible. A lot of what is taught is more practical and less theory based. There is also a lot of assigned reading but it is necessary for the material covered.
One of the best professors I've ever had! Very genuine professor who makes sure all his students succeed and are learning something new everyday in class. There is a lot of reading in this class but nothing crazy. You read articles and learn how to critique them. The readings relate to the topics discussed in class, which are very interesting!
Sekhar is an excellent electrical engineering professor who is knowledgeable and passionate about teaching. His lectures are engaging and informative, and he always makes sure to cover the latest developments in the field. He is also patient and willing to help students understand complex topics. Overall, I highly recommend taking the class.
Dr. Sekhar is a very student friendly professor. I took a graduate course named ECE 525.I really enjoyed his class and was actually excited to come to class every day. I am very thankful for passionate professors like you! Thank you for a wonderful semester. I believe he is not only a good professor but also an awesome mentor.
Dr Sekhar has been a fantastic instructor throughout the semester. His lecture deliverables are super organized and he tries to explain everything clearly within the class, so you don't have to study a lot going back to home. I barely spent time outside of the classes and still managed to secure an A. He is inspiring and he respects his students.
Dr. Sekhar is a highly knowledgeable and an empathetic teacher. He uses relatable examples and encourages participation to create an engaging learning environment. He provides support beyond the classroom and offers challenging yet rewarding assignments. Overall, he is an exceptional teacher who truly cares about his students' success.
Super nice and fun classes! We had HW every week, but they were similar to what we've seen in class. The exams were not bad too. Just doing the HWs helped a lot for the exams.
Dr. Sekhar gives a lot of examples of the material and makes sure that his students understand and know the material presented. Explanations are clear and to the point.
In the course you read a few academic articles and write a short critique on them. The course focuses on current engineering topics. At the end you present to the class on a topic. Speakers from various engineering firms came to present as well. Not too intense, and Dr. Sekhar is very open to feedback and tries his best to accommodate everyone.
Great professor
Dr. Sekhar is a fantastic instructor who is very knowledgeable and teaches the class in a manner that set us up for success. Over the course of the semester, Dr. Sekhar brought in guest speakers from Intel, Microchip, and BPA. These were great opportunities to learn more about the EE industry and internship opportunities.
Dr. Sekhar was very helpful and accommodating throughout the course, if needed. We read four articles and wrote summaries on them. We did one group presentation and he gave us a choice if we wanted our exams to be open book/canvas or not! We chose open book/canvas. He also adds short videos to tie in what we are covering in lecture. Great and easy.
Dr. Sekhar is great he's always asking for feedback on how to improve the class and actually does it. For example, someone asked for more videos during lecture and the following lecture we had videos. Also, he's very understanding and listens to students.
Dr. Sekhar is a caring and well-informed instructor in our ECE 483 course, using varied materials like papers and videos to enhance learning. His methods, including group projects and guest talks from industry experts like Intel and Microchip, broadened our perspective and deepened our understanding. He's truly dedicated to student growth.
If you value the quality of your degree, don't take Sekhar. This course was supposed to be on ethics, instead most of the course was spent doing "community outreach" projects that he didn't even try to connect to ethics at all... Every single student in the class was extremely upset.
We were given a free PDF version of the textbook rather than having to go and buy one ourselves. Classes were lecture heavy, but primarily just covered the specific chapters in the book. Dr. Sekhar was always willing to help during office hours, responded to emails quickly, or would alter the assignment if the material wasn't covered yet in class.
Great Professor. Textbook was provided via a free pdf first day.
Dr. Sekhar is very student friendly and flexible to accommodate student challenges outside of class. His materials are very straightforward and easy to understand. If you would just read the lecture slides, scan the textbook, and do 5-10 examples from the textbook in addition to the homework problems, you should be fine.
The course was very interactive which I enjoyed. Professor Sekhar always welcomes questions from the students. He also provides proper feedback and suggestions for homework and projects.
Makes learning very easy and fun.
Would tell us to work through a problem and then and guide us halfway through or not at all. Doesn't seem to come prepared most days. He seems to care about the student but does bare minimum in teaching. I only take his classes because I have to.
Dr. Sekhar was an excellent professor. Lectures and case studies were engaging, and he used ethical dilemmas to spark discussion. He really valued student input, especially on how to improve the course for future years. The community project showed how STEM can benefit communities directly. I really enjoyed the course. Course taken Spring 2024

Used PP that were not of his own. Read word for word and then didn't and couldn't elaborate on the topics. Doesn't seem genuinely interested in the topics and still expects student to come in. Only positive is that you can meet industry people and hand off your resume. Article review is a waste of time.
Dr. Praveen Sekhar is a great professor who structures the course to mimic real-world engineering scenarios, such as ethical dilemmas and group projects. He values feedback, supports his students, and makes the class a truly great experience. Attend lectures, it will only benefit you. Homework is fair. (Spring 25)
He is an absolutely very good professor.
Awesome teacher with awesome guidance.
Dr. Sekhar has high expectations of students but he provides all of the tools necessary to be successful. I would suggest showing up to all lectures, as this vastly simplifies completing assignments and improves understanding of the material. In addition to this Dr. Sekhar is incredibly fast at grading and responding to emails.
Dr Sekhar puts a lot of effort into this course and keeps it current with the latest trends in electrical engineering. Homework is fair, the midterm and final were straightforward. My favorite part of the course was the guest lectures from well known engineering firms in the area. Overall, ECE 483-02 was an excellent and valuable course.
Dr. Sekhar is a great prof. Explains things step by step at a comfy pace and ties it to real engineering. Super patient and easy to ask questions. Also replies to emails crazy fast and is available outside class. Class was clear and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Dr. Sekhar is very knowledgeable and clearly puts a lot of effort into keeping the course up to date. The homework was reasonable, and both the midterm and final were very fair and reflected the topics that were covered in class. I especially liked the guest lectures from local top engineering companies. Overall, I enjoyed this valuable course.
