DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!
Although the class was extremely boring, the professor is very helpful and clear when it comes to teaching. She often extends due dates for homework and does her best to make sure everyone understands--even if that means meeting with u outside of class. Take her if u struggle w/ math and need a prof that is willing to give u alot of attention!
This professor is very keen on attendance. Homework is done online but she will extend time if needed. 4 Exams. 4 Quizzes taken online and are open note. 1 Final Exam. Must do work to understand the material.
Don't take if you do not want a D grade after so much effort, work, and time.
Do not take, does not help and do not rely on her reviews for exams, she says the reviews will help you to succeed on the exam, the exams are complete different! I took her online as a perquisite for UTD because it was my only option and highly regret it after so much work and dedication.
Professor Dhayanithy is nice, helpful, well-organized, and humble but she makes an unacceptable number of mathematical errors. Her accent is not a problem, but she does pronounce “v” as “w.” She always goes over tests in class, and will extend the due date on homework if you ask her.
she opens many ways to earn extra bonuses credits.
One of the best professors in all aspects. Amazing teaching style, hardworking, caring for the students, etc. I learned a lot of subject matter from the course.
This was a great class. This teacher gave partial credit for problems on test and she has a great personality. I would highly recommend this professor to anyone in my opinion. The class I took with this professor was between a lab and a lecture class and you would have to make at least a B or higher to finish all the homework and tests by the way.
Professor Praveena follows the book. Her exams are OK. Honestly Business Calc is not easy. Be prepared to work for your grade. She is really helpful though. She cares about her students, she is approachable and open to talk to you when you look for help. I would say take her but remember you have to WORK for your grade!!
I have 69.5 . I asked the other professor . they said , I passed it . However , this professor failed me. I highly not recommend this professor. please do not take her . she is supper stricky for grading. you will fail it. she screw up my GPA. I do not want yall will be another failer like me. Take the other professor to gain ur GPA.
choose another schools or professor. this professor will fail you. we do not recommend this professor for all MATHERMATIC'S STUDENTS AT RICHLAND COLLEGE. SAVE YOUR GPA FOR UNIVERSITIES.
This is by far the worst professor ive ever had in the 80 hours ive taken at Dallas County. She assured me I would pass her course, and ended up giving me a D. I attended every class. Her exams are 5 questions and there is zero curve in the entire course. over half the class dropped and another good percentage failed. DO NOT TAKE HER....
As a person she is cool, but as a professor nah, I mean nahx^10 lol... don't take her, she has no idea about the word "effort"
The professor rating says it all. I HAD a 3.74 GPA before I got a D in this class. I will be retaking college algebra to get this D off of my record. If you have the option to take a class from a professor with a higher rating, do it. Ever heard stories of professors who write a lot on the board and don't explain what they're doing? This is her.
This class was tough. She was not clear on concepts and it was hard to understand he teaching. I could understand her vernacular but not how to do math problems. I had to use a lot of outside help to barely pass this class. She was very nice but just not a good teacher. I would not recommend taking her class.
Out of the dozens of professors I had at Richland, Professor Dhayanithy is the worst. Please, don't take her. I had to take her because she is the only Honors Stats professor, but I regret it so much and I was unable to drop out. She does not teach, and the book is confusing. If you HAVE to take her, good luck..
Grading system very clear. There are 5 exams plus the final. However, when I would email her about questions sometimes she chose not to reply. I sent her various emails asking for help and advice and she chose not to reply. This to me was very frustrating. The class was a lot of work. If I had to take it again I would take a professor who replies.
Do not take her class. Stay away. I know calculus 2 is hard, but this is ridiculous. Some assignments are just too long, some you'll need help with, but she won't help you. She frequently ignores emails. This class is a lot of effort just to ruin your GPA. I was interested in learning the material, and the textbook was good, but she's not.
I really liked Professor Dhayanithy. I took her onlineclass. I didn't make a good grade on the first test and she encouraged me to keep trying and to stay in the class. Calculus is a tough class overall and you do have to work of your grade. Professor Dhayanithy is very helpful and always responded to my emails. I ended up making a good grade!
Math 1325 was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken and especially because i took it in the summer. It was very fast paced, but a regular semester should be better. Dhayanithy's teaching style is not good but she is very understanding. To pass this class i recommend practicing on your own and must go to tutoring and do all the hw.
She does not respond to emails! She'll either ignore it or its 4 days late. Also completely does not understand emergency. For instance if I was in the hospital for a month, and came back she would give me a day to make up all the work I missed. Also makes you send in Test problem work within 1 hour. if your a few minutes late. You get a 0.
Taken Professor Dhayanithy for Trig and now Pre-Cal (both online). Do the homework, exam reviews and exams (all on MyMathLab) and you pass. Do not skip the exam reviews as you will most likely fail. The reviews are almost identical to the exams. The homework can be rather lengthy, however, examples and video tutorials make understanding simple.
She tries to be nice and helpful but she is not. The worst problem is English is not her first language so it's very hard to hear. Her lecture is boring, she only says whatever in the book. If you don't have any basic ideas before the course then you will have a very tough course.
Excellent teacher. Really cares about her students who care about the class. Not great at responding to emails, but does eventually respond. Would take her again.
I took pre-calculus with her in this spring semester. I am feeling regret to take with her because i registered very last moment so i did not have any other choices. She is very hard, unclear, and unhelpful. I didn't understand nothing in this class. Test are pretty hard and tough grader. Do not take any classes with her you will be regrets.
I would not recommend at all. Do not take with her any math classes. Worst professor ever.
If you take pre-cal with her you will get "D" or or "F" in calculus class. Be careful everyone. You don't understand and you get only C or D....
My God! This class stretched me to the limit. Although I made an A. I exhausted myself getting it. Something is due everyday yet she doesn't post it ahead to give one more time. You'll also have to scan and mail in your rough paper after the test to get a complete grade. The test are completely like the given review. Overall,it was hard but doable
I took trigonometry with Dhayanithy she is a nice lady but not a good teacher. The course load is extremely heavy you will have assignments due everyday. Tests are very hard. I did every assignment attended every class but nothing worked. I had to drop the class, first time dropping a class from failure. Think seriously before taking this class.
quote from sylabus -- "you need to spend 10 hours a day on course work to succeed", and she isnt kidding. the amount of course work is insane, and I cant imagine doing this class while working a job or having any kind of responsibilities. also, dont expect partial credit, extra credit, or mercy. homework is everyday, INCLUDING all days ending in y!
Very poor teacher that does not care about the needs of her students. She shows a deep tendency to not believe anything you say and only pivots to her archaic syllabus to answer new questions. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, the grade I got was from my own doing, and most definitely not her (in)ability to teach.
worst prof. ever, lectures all the time, and for us early birds, we are constantly dozing off. When we have exams she gives us 30 question reviews but on the test there's only 8 questions. The whole class is always lost, and when she presents examples to us she messes up on simple things like negative signs, which messes up the whole problem.
Reads straight from the textbook. Class lecture was from the textbook. Very strict. The first exam was the only grade in for the first 3-4 months of class. Even in a class of 12 students I did not think she encouraged student participation, engagement.
Create a study plan and you will be fine. I spent at least 2-3 hours every day doing homework. It sucks but i also did the flex term so i knew what i was getting into. Do the review and you will at least make a B! I took Trig twice back like in 09 at DCCCD before transferring to UNT and I always thought it was hard but its not. I was just lazy.
Professor Dhayanithy is such an amazing professor and very caring. For a person that is not good at algebra I worked so hard and earned my grade I wanted. She is a tough grader but makes you get a better understatement on what you can improve on. Although she does give extra credit if you go to tutoring and that helps a lot.
Be prepared for: --EXTREMELY slow responds from her (too slow to help with homework questions). 2 days minimum and often only after follow-up emails. --no real feedback on tests --needing to reminder her over and over to make homework available --curt responds to any question --way too much homework (no repetition, LOTS of busy scribbling work)
You have 2 assignments due everyday, if you have a job forget about passing. I took this class with a diff professor who allowed the entire week for work to be done, (where I can do it all on my day off) and got an A. Would have never happened with Prof. Dhayanithy. The point of online classes is flexibility and I don't think she knows that.
Horrible teacher. She reads straight from the book for the lecture, and provides no additional insight; yet attendance is mandatory. I do not believe she had a great understanding of the material. Talking to her was a nightmare. No insight on areas to focus on for the test. Gave no notes on what you did wrong for tests. Can't say enough bad things.
This class had an absurd workload. Assignments were due 6 days per week, and they were not quick and easy assignments. The prof had to be reminded to post assignments and frequently posted them late, yet was unforgiving if you needed extra time to complete them. I had to work very hard for that A, dedicating around 6+ hours per night to this class.
Don't take this teacher. She doesn't update the grade book, didn't see grades til report card. Hardly responds to emails and sometimes skips office hours. The homework in this class is soul-crushing. Idk how anybody could get above a C- without exploiting the curriculum somehow. only reason I passed is that the exam problems are near repeats of HW
Literally just dropped her class, homework was due 5 days a week pretty much, something I could not keep up with having other classes to actually study for as well. Basically you get access to the homework only about a day in advance as well, so that makes things more difficult. Overall, if you're ONLY taking her, maybe take her. Otherwise, no.
she cannot teach at all. actually she doesn't even teach at all as a matter of fact. I took her online class and I did not even understand the material and struggled. I had to teach the material myself using youtube to learn what was even going on in my assignments and tests and quizzes. I do not recommend taking her at all. avoid her class.
Do not take her online class. She posts a lot of homework(web assign) late, and the due date does not change, that was not fair. And she does not even announce it when she posts the homework late. Her test was not that difficult.
Works through problems on the board and explains them well. She stops and waits for you to finish your notes before moving on. She gives announcements about events on campus and reminds you to register for classes. Used a different website for homework this semester and due dates were spread out although multiple assign were due at 1 time sometimes
I have never failed a math class before until I took her. She grades SO hard that even do part of a question wrong loses you 10 points. It's ridiculous. I recommend to anyone NOT to take her even if your life depended on it.
Took her online class and it was very disorganized. Assignments werent always posted when the syllabus said they should. Almost every exam got pushed back but we werent told until it wasnt posted on time. There is homework due almost every night but she never posted notes or anything so it was basically self taught. Exams are easy. hard to contact
BEWARE - Online class is basically self taught. Assignments/test were all on Webassign but due dates did not follow syllabus. Prepare for HW everyday and no help from the teacher, what so ever! Exams are directly from review (10 questions) and some examples were provided through Webassign. I had to call the school in order to contact prof!
please save yourself and dont take this professor. She was rude most of the time, and confuses herself with her own material! I have never failed a class before this one, which says something about her! I would not advise anyone to take this professor not even my worst enemy. I quite frankly dont know why she bothers teaching.
Super great online class. Did maybe 1 assignment per day, 2 if I wanted to get ahead and save myself some time later. Did assignments at school during other boring classes that were just lectures. I took notes on everything to use on the exams. You're not supposed to, but eh. Work smart, not hard. She also has reviews for exams online.
Though the professor seemed nice in her correspondence, she did not always upload assignments and tests on time, making it difficult to complete assignments on schedule.
A minimum of 30 math problems each night on My Math Lab (Monday-Fridays)
If you are reading this don't choose her as your teacher.I took her pre calculus class and it's the worst math class i ever took. She can't teach, all she do is read a note she have and write it on the whiteboard again. This is not math. She is also a tough grader. Overall, the worst math teacher.
Basically self-taught Doesn't respond to emails, when she does, it takes her DAYS. Syllabus is incomplete, misleading, and confusing. In the syllabus she said she would give us an access code on the 1st day of class. Didn't get code until day 2. and it was not the right one. ended up having to buy it... She is no help, she ignores students!
I carefully researched and picked my math professor, then Richland swapped her out for this professor at the last second. Absolute disaster. Skips many steps during lecture just assuming you know them, is inconsistent with what she says she'll do vs what she does in terms of opening up homework, gives you the runaround when you have questions.
She kinda has an accent, but thats okay. If you are a go-getter, this professor is for you. Participation matters. Homeworks and exam dates can be modified upon request. (if a majority of class requests). Her teaching is really good.
Start working on the subject, ask her more questions, meet her in office. She will definitely help you with anything in math. Good teacher.
Be sure that your PDF format is correct. She's very strict about that. Answered every time I emailed her. Grades VERY slowly. Easy class if you just do the work.
She gives about 4 or 5 homework each week, have to read 1 chapter for 1 homework. For the test, will work with huge amount of matrix, but have only 110 minutes to do 10 questions. And, have to do the test on MyMathLab, as well as writing down own works (must be well organized), which is time-consuming-job. Won't have enough time to do everything.
Solidly meh experience. Completely online course with no original content from them, just reading the book and submitting problems. Strict on submission formatting. Super slow grading. Doesn't always open things in reasonable timeframes or when they said they would. Mostly reasonable workload and easy grading if you did your work right.
The test is hard, but professor is very nice.
She forgot to open final exam submission, and then she asked for the written work via e-mail. I failed to sent it to her since I didn't check my mail box, so I got 33% on final exam. This turned my grade from 98% to 80%.
I took her class over the summer online. Since it was a 1-month class during the summer then obviously there was a ton of work to do. Honestly as long as you do the homewok and the review you're good. The test she had for our online class was based off the exam reviews so as long as you spend the time to work through the review then you're good.
As a lecture teacher she's good but online she's terrible. Doesn't reply to emails and isn't helpful whatsoever. Very disorganized, especially with scheduling. Homework everyday so make sure to wake up around 6 to do the mymathlabs and if you don't understand them just write down how to do them from view an example and use that for the exams.
She never communicates with us. The book is terrible. She does not teach. We have to learn from the book. She posts assignments weeks late in huge groups. Unnecessarily specific with grading procedures. She will not respond to your emails. She will not give assignment extensions. There is no mercy. She reuses the same discussion boards every year.
I've never had someone this disengaged. Online course... no replies to correspondence, unclear /unorganized. No additional lessons/lectures - all done via Knewton. Self-taught. Grades hard on written work or lack-of from exams. Avoid at all costs, horrible experience! Really hard to rationalize paying what we do for this low caliber of instruction.
The Knewton assignments are very glitchy and sometimes crashes my computer, and my other technology I own, I pleaded in email, that I can have paper assignments, but I never got a response. In the tests the grammar of the tests are poorly written to confuse and fail in purpose. The final did not gave us formulas as a guide.
I really like her. I took Calc II and Differential Equations with her and I like her so far. It's a self-taught class, so don't expect much from her.
Never communicates through email, i have learning differences and talked to her multiple times and they were never accommodated,Online homework glitches all the time.
Difficult material but a great teacher. Very nice and explains things well. Patient and willing to give students extra time and attention when needed.
She's the best professor I have taken. She helps a lot with the things you don't understand. She doesn't retake tests so study. Overall, she tries to help others and she does do exam reviews and go over questions that will be on the test.
Incredibly disorganized. Like others said, grades VERY slowly. Expect to wait at least a month to get your exam grades.. good luck withdrawing by then too. Poor lectures; gives little explanation & just regurgitates information directly from the book. Very strict with showing work... every little step needs specification. Not worth the time or $.
NEVER GAVE A SINGLE LECTURE. several times forgot to post assignments, or posted test work drop box 8+ hours after the test opened. responds to emails very late. you will need to read the example problems in MyLabMath and make a khanAcademy account.
worst thing ever. I don't have words.
Professor Dhayanithy is easy to understand and explains assignments amazing! She is caring and compassionate. She is a math wiz! This professor makes sure her students understand the assignments. The professor is able to teach in a way that helps all students understand the work. I am horrible at math and this is the only math teacher I passed.
Professor Dhayanithy is the best math professor I have ever taken! Her lectures were clear and thorough, and she made sure her students understood the assignments. I am horrible at math and she made this course so easy. Expect what you would as in any other math course, but also compassion, the smartest math teacher, and efficient! She cares.
This is the best math professor I have had! I am HORRIBLE at math and she is the only professor who explained the lectures in a way I could receive the information! I am so thankful I found this professor! Best math professor ever!
This professor was really great at teaching Pre-Cal, she definitely knew what she was doing. She grades exams really hard, so be prepared so show ALL ur work otherwise you won't pass. She's super nice and chill and I could always approach her with any questions I had. Very accessible outside of class and cares about her students.
She was so bad, I wanted to give her a zero. But thats not possible. So, I give her a 1.
Very nice & kind to extend assignments...but doesn't teach any of it. Her lectures go way too fast and she's disorganized. I dropped out bcuz she never explained things correctly. Hawkes learning is the online hw and it's awful. It forces u to restart if u get 2-3 questions wrong. Somebody in front of me used Chegg. Prof doesn't know technology :(
If you can finish the assignments (I took the 3 week long summer course and there were typically 2-3 assignments due every day), then you're set. The exam uses the same questions from the review and the review is mandatory. Prof is super nice and responses quickly to emails. Try to be at least one day ahead of assignments! It takes away the stress
I am also taking Linear Algebra to transfer to my actual 4-year university. I have to agree wholeheartedly with their comment. The recordings only covered about 3 chapters of the course, whereas the entire course covers 7 chapters. She takes an insane amount of time to respond to emails, and is very much an off hand professor. !DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Idk why she has a lot of bad ratings, she was a good professor, math classes are not easy in general but if you do all the works and exams then you can get an A, take her!
Took this class for the summer and Linear Algebra is no joke. There were 7 chapters that the course consisted of but the professor only uploaded up to chapter 3 for recorded lectures. Ended up having to learn off of the textbook which would take hours for 1-2 sections. Homework and exams are fairly easy if you read the textbook/study the examples.
I learned more from YouTube in this class than from her. Worst professor stay away from this one, she's cold personality with a heavy accent. I'm a straight A student but this class was very difficult.
So far I'm making more progress with Youtube tutorials than the class itself. She works the problems out at too quick of a pace without even explaining the techniques used. I'd avoid this professor if possible, unless you're fine with burning money. You will NEED tutoring or Youtube.
You're better off taking the class online due to her being completely unfazed by the whole class requesting her to be more specific besides just reading off the textbook as if we couldn't do that already, and to at least extend the hw assignments because that's where most of the learning will take place, and YouTube videos will be your teacher.
Can barely communicate, cannot respond to emails to SAVE HER LIFE!!! Stay away! Worst professor ever, I've sent her 8+ emails and I'm dropping out of the class. Today is the final straw.
Easily the worst professor of all time... How she has a job is BEYOND me! How are they allowing this woman who can't even respond to emails or help her students continue teaching at this school? Literal joke Dallas. Cannot believe I'm pursuing a degree here.
The worst professor ever this is so ridiculous and I'm honestly appalled Dallas is still letting her teach here... CHECK YOUR EMAILS!!! WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO MANUALLY GRADE OUR HOMEWORK!!! WHAT DO YOU DO?!
No lectures, only videos a few example videos epearson, so good luck on figuring out how to learn. There are only 3-4 Exams and worth almost 50 percent of your final grade, do bad on one exam, you're done. The exams are TIMED, WEBCAM, and have 15 minutes after the exam to upload your work. NO late work accepted unless "medical proof". DONT take!!
Thought people were exaggerating and still took the class, DONT TAKE IT. It's not about hard work, the class doesn't have any clear learning material, only few example questions to learn from. Online classes are taken for it's convenience, if you take this class you won't have time for anything else. Not even other classes.
Idk how this prof has been allowed to have online classes. Canvas and the syllabus are hard to follow, it seems they haven't been updated since 2020. I've struggled to keep my grade up by reading the textbook and finding YT videos. I've had to email her multiple times bc she hasn't uploaded assignments that are due, and she takes forever to answer.
Lectures are horrible, explains concepts like she's doing oppenheimer math, jumps around a ton between chapters. Tests are graded extremely hard, making silly mistakes can take off over half the points for the question. Very dry personality, doesnt talk about anything outside the classroom and doesnt greet students when walking in.
This professor reads off the textbook and makes tons of mistakes in class that she seldom corrects. She tends to miscalculate grades and will not respond to emails. The same glowing review for this teacher can be found on both Dallas College and Collin College written on December 9th, 2021.
Solely uses textbook for lectures, tests are very difficult, completely monotone 0 emotion or passion shown doesnt even say hi when walking in, will permanently make you sad. also doesnt answer emails unless you personally tell her u sent her one. just avoid her if you wanna keep the gpa you worked hard for
There is no passion when teaching, so many points taken off exams because there is no detailed work. I mean she wants detailed work. If you do not put grams its minus points, if you put 11-10= 1 and do not finish the question with x = 1 then minus points. Honeslty do not recommend it. so hard to keep your grade up in this class.
As someone who has always excelled and enjoyed math, this class didn't work out for me. Professor teaches math like how one would teach history. Mostly read off the textbook. If you needed her to do something like fixing grades you'd have to tell her multiple times. Also took points off from exams for unreasonable things even if answer was right.
Checked other ratings and was scared to take my MATH 2420 class but i still took the bet and took her summer 24 classes. It was a really easy straight forward class. Got a sweet A by just doing what i was supposed to do on time. She gives a huge curve at the end of the class. Do not be discouraged by the negative ratings.
Took over summer. Tons of HW, insane. The reviews are around 20 questions, the exams (3 exams and a final) are each 10 questions. SHOW WORK and try on each question, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING!! I only answered three questions right on the first exam and got an 80, but I saved vids of review solutions and made it look like work.
Honestly was concerned by abundant of low reviews at first. However please don't get discouraged! There were lots and lots of homework, three exams and a final exam. 10 questions each and she gives u a review exam for each which have similar questions. Just study those and you WILL do well. Just be diligent with your work and an A is very doable.
Praveena's class requires a lot of effort, but using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can really help. Expect detailed grading, but the material is manageable if you stay engaged.
I took Math 1350 and she assigned tons of homework and the textbook doesn't help. Her discussions are like projects.
she never replies to the email and even she forgot to open first exam. I I don't know what to do because she never replies and didn't even give the instructions for the exam. Never take her class.
She doesn't care if you send her emails. She assigns a lot of assignments that they're not even on the syllabus. Don't take her class!!!!
Professor responds to emails so late or sometimes never and always forgets to unlock the exams on time.
She has a pretty noticeable accent however it is clear and understandable so there should be no problems taking her class. Be ready to do a lot of homework on ALEKS and almost rage quit every session though. She is lenient with tests and has given extra points if we completed our review packets. You'll pass with enough effort/showing up.
Since I was online, the experience was less of the professor doing anything, and more of me just reading out of the textbook and looking at examples in the homeworks. The videos this professor has us watch as well are not as good as explaining and should not replace the textbook. Make sure to read and do homework, since there ARE due dates.
Do not take her unless you want to teach yourself everything via textbook. No lectures, just example videos that don't help. If you want a more effective learning experience, seek elsewhere. All she does is post assignments and grade exams. She doesn't contribute to your learning at all, except for if she is answering an email regarding questions.
no written work, no grade Use proctored exam Submitted work after 10 min since sent the exam
Proctored exam, submitted all written work ten minutes late after you submitted, no lectures, delayed responses to emails, and complete disregard for students! If you want to waste your time and money, this is the perfect professor to choose.
Wouldn't take her again! She thinks she can control you! Definitely would never take her again if I had to retake this class. Also, she makes A LOT of mistakes. she solves different problems and students have to correct her. Honestly, I got a good grade since I taught myself, NOT from her. Would've chosen another professor if I could have.
