He's a nice guy, but is new.Is a bit disorganized on the board.I'm talking about how some profs will neatly organize their notes on the board, this guy goes out everywhere and can be downright confusing at times. He literally gives 50+ probs for hw, and you will have NO clue what to expect on test. But he is always willing to help and give details.
He will help students. I wish he could incorporate more in-class ezperiments to his lecture topics, but overall, he's a good choice.
Guy knows his stuff but doesnt do a good job of teaching it. He is easily confused by show offs who can't shut up and have to answer everything before he can but I can't blame him there. He doesnt shut them up which is still bad. He is still young though, he'll probably be better after a few years of teaching.
Its true that this professor is really nice and is always willing to help but the truth is that he doesn't know how to teach and a good reason for this is because he's new at teaching, or so it seems. His exams aren't extremely hard and you can bring a formula sheet. However, the final was harder then expected so watch out if you take him!
I took him for physics w/cal I last fall. I didnt really put a lot of effort in and passed without any problems. My friends who had other teachers say his tests are much easier. If you study and pay attention to class you should be able to get an A, if you know what you're doing but dont study a lot you would still most probably pass...
Probably the best Physics professor FIU has to offer. He has only been teaching for two semesters. He is very helpful and gives easier test compared to the other physics professors. Plus he allows one page of notes for all the test which is great.
Good professor. He teaches well and is very nice. You can use 1 pg of notes for each test and 2 for the final. Test questions are similiar to examples done in class. I went to class and barely studied and ended up with a B, although I wouldn't recommend doing that. Either way, this teacher is good regardless of what your learning style is.
he is a very good teacher. when i took him because of lack of time he went reaaly fast. but he is there to help outside of class. and his hot if you do your work you should be fine in the class
Chapagain is young and he has improved much since I took him for phys I a few semesters back. He gets better every semester I guess. The guy is easy, the HW is manageable, and he gives 4 exams total (3 tests, 1 final). You get to use a cheat sheet for every test, and 2 for the final. Whats more, his examples are useful and tests are based on them.
Very nice professor. He needs some more experience teaching but the class is very easy overall if you have the time to read the book. I had to use the book heavily. Three exams 18% each and a cumulative final 38% homework is 10%. He lets you use a formula sheet for each exam. I got an A and I don't enjoy physics.
reeeeally nice professor. exams and homework are pretty fair. class averages went drastically up after first exam (76-ish on the 3rd exam, thats unheard of in physics classes). not the best at explaining things but if you go to his office he's always willing to clarify. i'd recommend him but if you can take it with Dr. Bone do that better.
If you really want to learn physics and want to have good conceptual understanding of the beauty of the science. Then, DONT TAKE THIS GUY.. Yeah you can use formula sheet, but what is the use if he sucks explain the core concepts. Also, he is weak. People cheat in his class and he doesn't even do anything. That will hurt you if you really study.
After all the horror I heard about pickin Phy profs, I'm not upset about choosin him. He is willin to help and tries to clarify ama he can so no one is left behind. The tests in comparison to all other profs is xtremly easy. All you need is hw to pass tests b/c tests come str8 from hw. and hes super nice, willin 2 change exam date if class wants to
Excellent professor! really clear teaching! that's how physics supposed to be! however, i suggest you take the problem solving with him. totally worth..I am passing with an A! and i had to drop with other professors..TAKE HIM!!!
nice guy, but really doesn't teach the material that well
If you do homework and read chapter than you are guaranteed an A. His tests are the easiest relative to any other physics teacher. He shows you exactly how to do every problem then he actually does the entire problem on the board. We ended up skipping 5 chapters at the end. Bad for engineering students.
He is a good teacher, may become confusing at times, but overall he is good. If you ask him something he will sure try to answer you as best as he can. I would recomend taking the class with him. As all physics classes, exams are not easy and getting an A is not granted.
He is an EXTREMELY good and helpful professor. Prior to taking his class I was terrified, and now I am in love with physics. Physics overall is not easy, therfore you do need to work hard and homework is a must, but his tests are easy IF you do all your hw. He is clear, but there are some topics that are just difficult to understand. TAKE HIM!
His teaching was totally not helpful for me
He was a good teacher, he has a slight accent and sometimes gets a bit flustered when he is trying to tell a joke or a story to illustrate a point, but those instances are few and far between. Overall the class was very difficult and challenging but he is very patient and willing to answer even the most trivial question in class. I am anticipatin
the true I didn't learn at all in this class,I ended up with a B, but I just had no life for an entire semester... (even though the class average was like 50 he never curved!!) he's willing to help you, but is just hard to understand something (and is not because of his accent)! sry prof !:-P
Chapagain is 5/5 in the sense that he's 100% available to answer ALL questions during office hours and he gives some good EXs in class. However, with 5-problem tests that cover 4 Chps and online HWs that are unfairly difficult, it takes more than a helpful prof. to do well here. My advice: find the solutions manual and use it to study! I got a B+
He's the fairest teacher I've ever taken. The test are hard, but his partial credit is very generous! He's got great office hours, and his examples in class are usually on the test, if not, questions from the homework. Although the homework is a little hard, if you can get a solutions manual and then work from there it's very doable.
bottom line, this class is very difficult no matter what teacher you have. be prepared to put in at least an hour a day to do well in this class. i thought prem was great due to the fact that he is more than willing to help you understand concepts that you may have trouble with. take this class with him and do your share of work and youll do well.
Fantastic professor. Teaches incredibly clearly and willing to spend class time weeding out errors in problems. Noone went to his office hours but he was willing to spend time explaining concepts there as well. Physics requires a lot of effort to understand fully; this guy makes it extremely bearable.
Awesome prof. I wish he would teach Phyiscs II. His test are generally fair: about 5 multiple choice and 4 problem solving. The grades are based on the online hw and test. His lectures consist of core concepts and problems from the book. Just study hard and you'll pass this class with flying colors.
BEST PHYSICS PROF!!!! This prof made me enjoy physics! he lectures very clear, is willing to help you. His exams are based on the homeworks and are extremely fair! I wish he would have taught physics II
Amazing Professor! Teaches concepts and problems crystal clear. Physics is a hard class but if you study hard and take this professor you have a great advantage and you will pass the class with a good grade! Study hard and this prof is GREAT!!!
I wish he would teach every one of my classes from now until I graduate. . .Let's just leave it at that!
He's the most helpful teacher. available to help you and will not give up till you understand. also, his tests are easy. VERY thorough in class and doesn;t spend years proving formulas, does a lot of problems too. honestly without him i'd never pass physics
This man has changed my life. He is the best professor I've had so far. I took the fast-paced class during Summer A, and studying for exams didn't require that much effort. He is not a super tough grader and his tests are fair. He does so many example problems during class that you will for sure learn the material by the time lecture is over.
Physics is not an easy class, and I don't think I would have passed without him. He's super sweet and gives partial credit on his tests. The class if based off the online HW, three tests, and the final. He's very generous with points on tests and is overall one of the best physics professors.
Great professor. Teaches concepts well and is a fair grader. Solid choice
Terrific prof and he gives a lot of partial credit on all this exams/problems. He will continue to go over basic concepts that he taught the first day near the end of the course. He wants everyone to pass the class and aids in any which way possible. It is almost impossible to fail this course but, if you do fail you can only blame yourself.
Honestly an angel sent from heaven. After failing Physics 1, I was already dreading the subject, but when introduced to the professor I didn't mind the class. took it online, 2 tests in person and 1 online. Gives online hw, Gives partial credit on the exam, Just for putting the formula you get 50% of the points for that question. TAKE HIM!!!
Professor does not help you pass ( as I failed ) and I was very close to passing. Professor does not go by his own syllabus he adds points for some people to pass and fails others. I took this class online and most people cheated and got good grades, everyone failed or barely passed. Take it with someone else.
Took this professor online for what it seemed to be his first time teaching online and didn't really look like he cared about the class. Everything including grading was done by a Ta who was his secretary or something.
Professor doesn't reply to emails, doesn't show up to his own office hours and did not students pass course even if they were very close. He doesn't grade the test so you should really go check ta's always make errors. They say you get half the question right if you write the formula and I see on here I guess they do it for some, but not for others
I was Not sure how but I ended with an A and I got a very low score on my first exam. After doing the math several times I noticed the Professor curves if you pass the final he takes only into account the final and the hw. If you want a slack semester and to only study for the last test take him. Other than that he doesnt teach, or help outside
those reviews are lies hes great.
The below reviews are lies. He is great. Obviously, like with any other class, you need to put in some effort. He does curve significantly so that helps. He will guide you on the tests if you are not sure (no other prof does that) and if you ask him what will be on the test, he will likely guide you to what content will be there. He's great.
All negative comments are from students who didnt put in the effort and want to blame the professor. He is straightforward with how he grades, gives generous curves, and is very helpful during tests. Idk how i got a B- because I know I didnt put in enough effort. Put in the work (which isnt even a crazy amount) and youll get an A.
Took him online, only 4 grades, 10% on homework: 1 assignment a week; 35% on 1st exam; 10% on the 2nd exam that was online; and 45% for the final. Extensive formula sheets were provided for all exams. Reviews were given 2 weeks before the exams. Optional online class meetings before exams. Grading was curved, a 59% was considered a C. Good teacher.
I recommend taking professor Chapagain. He makes physics easy to understand. He does not go out of his way to trick you in his exams and what is expected is clear. If you dont pass his class it is because you did not study. I took him once in person and I dropped because of a conflict with my work schedule. I re-took him again now, Fall 2018.
The in-person review lectures for his online class were helpful and you can tell he knows how to teach. He gives partial credit on his exams and provides a ton of resources to help you teach yourself because it is an ONLINE course. The TRUTH is that this is a hard class and it requires a LOT of discipline. I recommend taking his class in person.
Prem is a very good professor. He helps on tests and is clear on what he expects from students. My only issue with him is that he curved some people, yet he did review the grades "extensively. HE DOESN'T REPLY TO EMAILS... If his class was in person, I would have gotten an A for sure. Sucks it was online because I honestly didn't put in the effort
He is a great person and an amazing lecturer. It is a physics class therefore, you have to study and practice to learn the material. As for the people giving bad scores here, that failed, you did not put enough effort. He went out of his way to help, even during exams, and if you ever had a problem an email to him would have solved everything.
This professor is actually a very good professor. The reviews of him saying otherwise are lies because the students did not put in the time and effort needed in order to pass. This class requires a lot of practice and time and the professor warns you from the beginning. The grading criteria is very clear on the syllabus.
This professor actually answers emails fast and he lets you know if hes available in office hour. If he isnt available he will let you know if you email him and always has someone else to help you if he isnt there himself. He tries to help students out as much as he can. He gives as much as the student gives as well. He even has review sessions
Physics is not an easy class for most, regardless of who you take, you are going to have to put some effort to pass. I think Prem was great, answered my emails quickly and was willing to help. Gives partial credit for trying the test problems, and even curved the final grade. his lectures were clear and he set the right expectations from the beggi
Prem was a great professor, he was very clear about expectations for the class and was quick to reply to emails. I would definitely take him again if given the opportunity. physics is a hard class as it is, so definitely be ready to study hard. Solid professor!
He is a GREAT teacher. The course was online, he was thorough about what was needed to do well in the course. Watch the lecture, take notes, do the homework and practice from the book. He gives sections on his syllabus. His exams are not easy but are straightforward. If you study and put in the work, you will do well. His lectures are amazing.
He is a wonderful Professor. He is difficult because it is an online class, but Physics online with any professor is difficult. He gives partial credit which is fantastic ! And he curves the grading scale. Class is test heavy, but as long as you put effort and a lot of time and practice you'll get an A in the class.
Physics its not an easy course, so anyone cant expect to get a good grade without a lot of effort. For me, this professor is super fair grading and the exams are accesible to a good grade if you study. Just do the exercises from the back of the book, physics is based on practice. You can do it great on his class because he is a great professor.
Chapagain is a solid guy. Physics department makes two tests 80% of grade. Chapagain could use a little more organization in his lectures but he is a good instructor overall and will go out of his way to help you. He will even curve a bit to help you pass. Physics is hard af tho so make sure you hit the books and do the hw. Good prof tough course
look if you are borderline at the end of the semester he will d his best to pass you. it is a hard class especially cause I took it online but follow his videos and do the HW you will pass.
Half the bad reviews are given by people who failed. This isn't a super hard class, but if taken online shouldn't be taken with a bunch of other classes. The workload is heavy since its on your own. The professor could've done more, doesn't sound very fair, but also some people probably didnt put in any effort.
He is honestly a good professor for an online course. I did not take him in person but the online material he provided was enough to pass. There were powerpoints, videos, examples and sample tests that he provided. I don't understand why students are saying he couldve done more when this is an online class and he did his part but the students didnt
do not take this class online. This professor provides you tools to pass if you took the time to read the textbook do the homework watch his lecture videos and put in the practice to understand the work plus utilized him through office hours or emails then you most likely passed. I passed but will never do a 4 credit class online again. b/c stress!
Really good professor. Always available outside of class to talk and help you. It sucks that the students that wrote bad things didnt even go try to see him once. He took all the time out of his day to make videos that people wouldnt even care to watch... yet then they complained about their grade. You get what you put in.
The main thing i do not like about physics at fiu is that the exam are worth SO MUCH. 1st 35% 2nd 10% Final 45% HW 10%. Plus the exams cover a lot of chapters wih MULTIPLE formulas. You really need to be on your game with physics. I say for the teacher he wasn't too bad I just feel that the lectures were a little bit more relevant to the homework.
Literally the Best physics professor at FIU. Such a nice person. Take Prem you wont regret it.
5 Quizzes, 2 Exam, 1 Final and Online homework for each chapter. Took this class online, which is sketchy, but I got a 96% on my first exam when I crammed for 1 week prior. I got 70% on Exam 2 (didnt study as much). One week until the final and I am cramming! This class is completely do-able! Even online. Exams in person! Don't think to Cheat!
Defiantly take Prem! He's amazing! 5 All the way!! Took online. Study and you'll pass. Exams in person!! I got 96% on my first Exam! And I knew nothing about physics!
He is a very kind prof and teaches extremely well. Does example problems in class and everything in the lectures is reflective in the exams and quizzes. One great thing he did is post his own online lectures on canvas as well in case we did not understand anything in class. Plus, he gives DETAILED formula sheets! Take him, he is the greatest.
A true teacher can teach inside the classroom and not leave students to fend for themselves by watching his videos. You need to attend lectures and then watch his lectures; I paid to learn not to teach myself. Goes into tangents about random topics and then refrains "this won't be on the test" which instantly ends my interest in the topic.
This is an incredible professor! You learn so much about physics and he does it in way that is easy to capture. The exams are challenging but as long as you pay attention to his lectures and do your hw, youll do great in the class! If only I could take him for physics 2!
Any bad review about this professor is from a student who did not try and expects to get a good grade. I could not have asked for a better Physics professor. He gives great lectures, posts them online to help you if you do not understand anything and exams and quizzes are very reflective of the lectures. Plus, he can be kind of funny lol
This professor is one of the greatest Ive had so far in my first year. He is a very good teacher and very caring about his students. He offers extra credit opportunities and is a very fair grader. Honestly if he is available take him.
One of the best professors I've had! He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well. Physics is a tough subject for me but he made it very understandable- with that being said, make sure you always going to class . He is also very fair, on the exams you still get points on problems that you don't get entirely right.
Amazing professor. He even provided us with his online lectures so we can review everything he taught. Was really helpful when I needed to review a topic I didnt understand.
Quizzes (multiple choice) are tougher than exams (multiple choice plus showing work.) Nevertheless, Professor Chapagain is willing to help during office hours if you struggle. He is also willing to help with online assignments. Put in the work, practice all problems he provides during lectures (plus some problems from the book) and you will excel.
Best physics professor hands down. He tries his best to help everyone pass. offers opportunities for ec and drops lowest test and quiz grade. Provides helpful videos on canvas for extra help and is always available at office hours. Do the hw and you will get an A
He is honestly a good professor who cares for his students and wants them to succeed. He gave us all the tools needed to pass, from very well explained lectures, to additional posting the lectures he does for his online class in case you need a reinforcer (these were optional ). He sometimes goes off tangent, but always related to the material.
Professor Prem has been one of the best science professors Ive had so far, he truly teaches what is on the syllabus and helps you to understand the topic through various examples that are also present on the tests. The class takes time and dedication just like any other college course, but his videos were amazing and helped to practice.
He gives really good lectures and helps you during exams. NO other professor gives you hints during quizzes or tests. For those who said bad things about his videos-> he posts his videos online to help you don't be ungrateful. because if you miss class you can just watch the videos and you get the content. That's how good his videos are.
This professor is honestly such an amazing teacher and person. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well in his class. He is more than willing to help if you look for it. It is definitely possible to do really well in this course, it just takes effort. Would definitely take again, really wish he taught physics 2.
Dr. Prem is by far the BEST PHY 2048 prof. i've met. He will give you good feedback on where you were wrong. You can't expect to not work and get the A. So don't whine in that class and have fun doing it, It's no Rocket Science! He makes the class fun and tells you of the real world applications of what you do. The class is as fun as you make it.
I took online. Hands down the BEST most CARING professor I have ever taken at FIU. This man wants his students to pass, he is a sweet heart, will respond to emails even at 1 or 2 am. He curves a lot to help us out, he drops the lowest quiz, and always is there to help. I would take him again- even if physics has extremely difficult. Amazing guy.
Prem is an amazing physics teacher, he's a really caring prof who wants you to pass. I took him online for Physics I and I learned everything thru his video lectures. His videos are amazing! His tests are pretty easy and straight forward as long as you study thru watching the videos and doing the online HW. His equation sheets are a blessing!
Awesome professor!.. I mean he is so smart, he actually cares for his students, he is happy to help all the time. Homework is a lot harder than exams, so that whenever you do the exams you feel they're easy. He is not trying to fail anyone, so in the exams he gives easy problems. No final accumulative test. watch his videos+do homeworkpass.
He was an incredible Physics professor! I really do think he made a difficult subject as easy as possible. Also, he allows you access to past exams and quizzes, and the question structure doesn't really change, sot he answers are the same. Also, the online homework is annoying, but the answers are all on Yahoo. His stories are funny, great prof.
Really cares about his students. Will do the most to make you pass. Available during many office hours and knows how to teach and test without making it impossible.
Took this class for summer A and he was honestly amazing! Attendance was not mandatory, but I don't think I would've passed by just watching his online videos. I felt comfortable asking questions in class because he was always willing to go over what he just explained. Honestly a great professor who wants to see his students pass! Highly recommend
He is by far the BEST professor I have had. I took him for Summer A and he truly cares. He does everything in his ability to help his students understand how to approach the problems. He practically lays out the format of the exams/quizzes and the types of questions. If you don't practice the problems you will get stuck, but he simplifies them.
Prof Prem is amazing. I took him online though his exams are in person. His lectures are fantastic and his homework is typically harder than anything youll see on the exam. He gives partial credit for exam questions and past exams are available online. I super recommend him
Chapagain is such an amazing professor and sweetheart! I took him in Summer A online and I got an A. I studied off his video lectures (very good), the hw, and the sample questions he would post. The hw and the sample questions were harder than the actual test. His tests were super fair and were similar to the questions you would study. TAKE HIM!
What an angel. Physics is not easy I was so scared to take it but it ended up being one of my easier classes this semester only because of Dr. Chapagain. He is amazing! He helps with homework and is always eager to help the students. His quizzes and tests are exactly like the examples from him lectures. He is one of THE BEST professors Ive taken
Glad I took this course with him! I enjoyed his class.
This class wasn't easy and his teaching isn't perfect but the grading was definitely fair. His tests are show your work (so partial credit for incorrect answers) and he gives good reviews before the test. Super helpful if you email him too. I wish I had him this semester for 2049..
He is a great professor if you are taking physics for the first time. He is very helpful if you go during his office hours or through email. Really nice and passionate about teaching. He gives really good reviews before the test, there are 4 test and they are graded heavily, and the homework is harder than most of the questions on the tests.
Great professor, tries his best to help you pass. He's also super chill and laid back, best physics professor around.
It was a little tough since everything turned to remote learning. I am not the best at math etc. so I did struggle a bit, but he was super considerate and didn't let anyone fail. He was understanding when we expressed our concerns and tried to accommodate us.
Professor Chapagain is an excellent professor. For it being an accelerated summer course, all the material presented was easily followed and the exams were very fair. The best tips I can give is: show up to class & don't cheat. He takes academic misconduct very seriously and this can impact the difficulty of the course for everyone else.
his lectures does not corresponds to the hw he gives. Only take him if you can learn on your own
worst guy ever
Don't be fooled by all those nice review. I do not know how he got a 4.1 This guy is the worst. His lectures do not corresponds to the tests, quizzes and the homework. Do not even bother watching his lectures they DO NOT HELP! I studied using khan Academy and this guy is so salty when you email him. Abs wrst!!
The course itself is not that hard once you know the concept, but the problem is that he can't convey his thoughts to the students. If you do not get the lectures I recommend watching khan academy or watch youtube videos on the topic. The homeworks are almost impossible but the tests are comparatively easier. He is vey SATLY!! tho.
This is class was kind of hard but by watching his lectures and doing practise problem really helped. The homeworks were really hard but the tests were much easier.
You have to actively try to fail this class. He makes physics so insanely simple it is astounding. People don't show up for live reviews, or don't watch the recordings, don't practice, don't do homework, and then end up with terrible scores, which is somehow his fault. If you aren't an incredibly lazy individual, take him and you'll do great.
Dont listen to any of the recent negative reviews. This prof is a saint. You will still need to study a bit on your own if you want to truly be confident with your skills. If you take a bit of time to study and also watch his lectures, you will easily get an A or B. Btw, those you gave a negative are the ones that don't actually look at the videos.
Ignore all of the comments saying that he is a bad professor. He's an extremely intelligent guy who genuinely cares about the students. He recognizes that not everyone has a lot of time to dedicate to physics and is very understanding. He gives great lectures and does everything in his power to help. I would definitely take him for 2049 if I could
Physics is not easy, and requires time and effort. He's mentioned it from the beginning, and the bad ratings this semester are by those who ignored his warnings. I also let my guard down, yet I expect to pass the class. However, if you keep up with lectures and homework, and watch the reviews, you should have no problem getting an A.
Don't listen to any of the negative reviews. They were truly looking for an easy way out and did not actually try in the class. This professor makes physics actually make sense.
Really sweet prof. The homework and textbook problems are much harder than the exams which makes it a bit overwhelming at first, but he posts more manageable practice exams that make the actual exams a breeze. The two exams + cumulative final are worth 70% of final grade and a 94 is an A, which isn't too bad if you study. Very easy C, manageable A.
Don't believe those negative comments. Professor Prem Is an excellent teacher and If you want want to understand physic, you should take his class. However, it will take some effort to pass the class because physic is a difficult subject, it requires time! His lectures are very effective explaining the concepts and he's always available.
I don't recommend him. He will make you to hate physics with his paranoia about cheating and the amount of work you need to do. Probably not a bad guy, but he will make your semester harder that it should be.
This guy is the absolute worst. He is so paranoid about cheating that even if you miss one step or forget to show something & somehow got the answer right he automatically thinks you're cheating & someone gave you the answers. He's terrible. He talks 95% of the time during our zoom meetings for our test which leaves me little time to concentrate.
Prof Prem actually wants you to learn and pass. He makes the exams so that as long as you understand how to use the concepts, they should be an easy A. Although it's an online course, he sets time aside to do weekly reviews on Saturdays and even extra ones if students are struggling. As long as you put in the effort you'll definitely pass his class
Physics is probably the hardest class I will ever take and Ive taken both orgo chem classes. Professor Chapagain has a really good grading scale because of how hard the class is and how easy it is for students to fail. He doesnt want you to fail but he doesnt give any extra credit. You really need to study hard in order to pass.
He is a good professor, but not the best. physics is hard to a lot of people, just bcuz you dedicate your entire life to physics doesnt mean everyone will understand it.. especially with the class being online. some people have jobs. no extra credit, makes questions difficult and is paranoid about cheating. i would NEVER take him ever again.
These positive reviews must be created by the professor. This is the absolute worst course I have taken at FIU. Zoom meetings for exams are extremely distracting the professor talks the entire time along with over 100 students in the meeting that are allowed to ask questions while taking the exam. He is extremely paranoid about cheating do not take
I get excellent grades (A) in every other class, yet i failed this one. Zoom meetings are distracting, cant focus, he talks the entire time, students asks questions, he lets them go 2 the bathroom DURING the exam & then he wonders why theres cheating, & then he makes the test even more difficult. if you dont write down every step u do, u cheated.
I think maybe half of the class failed. He is SUPER paranoid about cheating and makes the tests super distracting on zoom. He schedules the test for Saturday at 11am and has NO flexibility. If you cant make it, you cant make it. Pls ignore the positive reviews, he makes you feel so dumb for not understanding! Also he gives NO extra credit
This professor genuinely tries to make physics FAIR which is not often seen amongst physics professors. He uses McGrawhill software for the homework which is super useful practice for the exam. There are two exams and a final which are the majority of your grade. Hes really considerate but you do need to put in the effort.
I took physics in high school and failed it I was never good at it however, Dr Chapagains class is truly an easy class to pass if you read the textbook do the homework, watch his lectures, and truly just dedicate a couple of hours during the school week The tests are ridiculously fair compared to the homework questions, you just need to study
Taking him for physics was the best thing Ive done. He is so kind and caring and he really cares for his students. If you feel you arent passing or understand the material trust me MEET WITH HIM! He is such a great person who just wants you to do your best. He rewards students who actually try!
There are many negative comments about this professor however I think he was AMAZING. He is super helpful and cares deeply for his students. He really wants you to learn Physics considering it is a difficult subject. Going to his reviews was extremely helpful, and he was overall just so kind. He gives lots of partial credit and wants to help always
If you actually try, youll pass. Hes super caring and accommodating. Even though it was an online course, Prof Chapagain got COVID-19 as well as the vaccinations during the semester and STILL held zoom meetings to help students with questions and review. The exams were easy compared to the homework and examples. And he makes funny dad jokes
Physics is hard subject to comprehend, but professor Chapagain makes this intimidating subject not impossible to understand. Professor Chapagain is one of the most generous professor I have ever taken at FIU, he is always willing to help his students in/out of session reviews. He could have made his exams 1000x hard, but didn't. He is AMAZING.
Online curse that requires Saturday in person or zoom proctored) exams. There is no flexibility with people who have to work, they have to find a way to take the quiz. Provides review sections, videos that are helpful. He is strict about cheating. 3 exams total, says they get easier and less question (not true). Do not use other formulas! Study!
Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt because a lot of those kids probably failed. Physics isnt an easy class no matter who teaches it. The professor was great and even have a bunch of practice problems to help us out. He held review sessions every week, which he didnt have to do. Kids were cheating in the class. He wasnt paranoid.
I chose to take physics not only during remote learning but also during the same semester I took orgo and taking this course with Professor Chapagain was the best decision. He is super helpful and genuinely wants to be there for his students. Completing the homework and understanding it will help a lot on his exams, but never hesitate to reach out.
Professor Chapagain provides everything you need to learn and pass the class. If you watch lecture videos, take notes, do the homework and quizzes he provides, you will do good on tests. He provides a sheet with all the equations you need during exams. He gives you partial points if you use the right equations and seem to understand the problems.
U can't even take a guess in this guy's class cause he thinks you cheated. even if you're clueless & you try to work it out, he'll question your use of equation & think you cheated if u somehow guessed the right answer. hes not the worst, but i wouldnt take him again.. hes a good guy, but not everyone understands physics as easily as him.
This professor was extremely helpful and really wanted ALL of his students to pass. I struggled in the beginning however, he adjusts to his students strengths. Like any professor, cheating is not tolerated. If you really want to enjoy learning physics, take his course. Good luck!
This class is obviously not going to be easy and you will need to study. The professor gives all the material you will need to be prepared for the exams. If you study those you will do just fine in the class. Honestly the exams are easier than the hw!! This professor is also super helpful and answers to emails quickly.
Professor Chapagain is a great professor, he cares a lot about the students, and always want to help them to really understand the material. He gives reviews before the each examen, which is very similar to the test. Also, every week he gives reviews for the lectures on that week. I would definitely take this professor again!!
Don't listen to these reviews I took this class Spring 2021 and this professor was amazing he would literally explain any question you have in detail, offer office hours and a Saturday review for each chapter. There wont be any surprises on the exam physics is a hard class in general if your not willing to put in the work how do you expect an A
Extremely paranoid about people cheating so be careful if you are taking him. He will expect you not only to submit your work after the test, but you will only have 5 minutes to do so after that he will not give you a chance and therefore you will fail his exam. Do not take if you are not ready to prove your work with a letter from the pope.
He is a great professor, extremely caring, and wants you to pass. His tests are hard only if you don't study. However, physics is hard and it does take a lot of effort to pass this class.
Let me start by saying chapagain is not a bad person however very he is extremely paranoid about cheating he will make you show work with equations given by him if you dont use them he will not give you credit on the exam and there you will fail. Moreover, he will not give you a review for the exams.
My GPA was brought down I study very hard for his course but unfortunately he did not care about me having COVID I wasnt able to give him an excuse letter and was late for his exam he still gave me a 0 and smiled like if that was funny.
Prem is one of the best professors I have had at FIU. He cares about the success of his students and provides ample amounts of support to ensure every student can pass this class. There is no question this class takes lots of effort from the student but Prem is more than fair about grading. If you put in the effort this is a very passable class.
Prof Chapagain is a great professor. I took him as an online class and he provides you with plenty of video lectures WATCH THEM ALL! He gives plenty of practice exams (not for credit) to help you study and is fairly accessible. He is always willing to give you extra points on exams if you explain and why. Hard class but good Prof!
I adored Prof Chapagain!! He was my favorite prof this semester! His exams are straightforward and hw isn't too heavy. He is so adorable and reminds me of a brown dad. Also really caring and most points are based off the work you show during the exam. Best physics prof at FIU for sure!!
Great professor, easy and straightforward exams. Take him if you are willing to study and solve some practice problems and the homework. Do not if you are complainer or not willing to study >> Don't even think about cheating or copy pasting preformatted equations in his exams you will get a low grade. Highly recommend him.
The only reason i rated the difficulty as a 4 because I took PHY with him during in the summer online. Besides that, the online lectures of him teaching the material helped so much in this class. Another thing is that the homework questions are so much harder compared to the test questions. very helpful as well but you gotta study if you want the A
The professor is very straightforward with the problems he shows during lectures, no bogus or hidden stuff. But BEWARE: effort is needed to pass. Attendance is not mandatory, but you need to practice the problems and study to get a good grade. Plus you get an equation sheet for the exam so you only memorize the steps to solve
The class is easy enough, the grade is heavily based on participation in class discussions, along with papers and group presentations. The lectures can get a little bit boring and hard to engage with. Lots of students don't participate besides a few people so sometimes it's hard to add on to class discussions.
Prof Chapagain is straightforward and fair. The class takes effort, but with practice on the problems and using unstuck ai for study prep, you can do well. Attendance helps, and the equation sheet makes the exams manageable.
This is for 2048L. The labs could take 2h or 4-5h depending how cooperative the system he uses is. BEWARE be prepared to spend about $70+ dollars to buy required lab equipment such as pulleys, scales, and iOLab device rental. Overall, its not that bad if you can dedicate a couple hours out of the week to get it out of the way.
