Really fun teacher. Hits real world examples. Encourages class discussions. As a class, we became really close. Lots of group experiences. He advised me on outside of class marketing stuff. Awesome Guy!
He was my favorite teacher so much that I was looking into all of the other classes he teaches just so I can have him as a teacher again. In general he is a great speaker and always keeps his lectures interesting!
He is by far my favorite teacher. I am not majoring in business but had his class as a pre-rec. i checked to see if i could take any of his other classes with my major. he keeps the class involved and interested. Truely a great teacher, i learned alot and will miss not haveing class with him.
He's a really nice teacher, very flexible.
Assignments are out of the book, not hard if you take the time to do them. There are no wrong answers in class discussions. Preston is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is both very professional and down to earth. He treats everyone equally and listens to what you have to say. I'd definitely recommend his class.
Awesome class discussions! The class discussions make you want to show up for class just to see what the topic would be and how other people feel about certain topics. I recommend Mr. Cameron to every student I run into. By far the greatest instructor I have ever had.
fun class, be outspoken but pay attention!
Great instructor!!! The best ever!!! Totally for the student. Keep up the good work!
Excellent Professor and class. I would rearrange my schedule to include this class. You will not be sorry you added Prof Cameron's class
fantastic
The class was interesting but honestly I didn't learn much of anything useful that I didn't already know. The class is homework intensive, with an assignment almost every day, although he grades very easily. I would recommend him for anything other than business ethics.
I loved having him as a teacher. I usually dont like talkin infront of others but his class made me really want to speak my mind. Everyday is a class discussion. It was so much fun. Work is a little hard, but not if your paying attention.
If you don't like reading don't take this class. Fun and gets you thinking. Tests are easy. Discussions are always interesting. I don't recommend this class to those who can't speak up in class.
Friendly and fun! Great teacher who gets the class to discuss and work with each other. Do the homework, add your opinion in class discussions and you will get an A.
Preston is one of my favorite instructors. I had fun in his class, did the best group project in my academic career, and he was also great in advising me on acadamic paths. I highly recommend this instructor... good guy to know if you are completing any business degree at MCC, he is the director of the dept. after all!
Preston is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. I will only take his business classes from now on. Great teacher that loves to help out the student in anyway possible.
Have taken 3 classes from him, wonderful teacher, great at helping you get on grad. track to. Much better than advisor!!! Must take at least one of his classes.
Awsome
Professor Cameron's class was awesome. It was my 1st class of his but won't be my last. He was helpful and fun. Class discussions are the best. Just be sure to do the homework readings. Would recommend his class for everyone!
Awesome professor. I've had 3 of his classes now, would recommend him to everyone.
Professor Cameron is a really easy going guy. This class was filled with lively discussions on topics such as Ford and Firestone controversy, Nike and it's sweatshops, and Martha Stewart's inside trading.
Great Teacher
lacked structure and would either show up late everyday or not show up at all..I paid good money for my education,I should be leaving his class leaning something new everyday, but he failed to do so.I felt he was ripping me off by not showing up or showing up late. when he would show up,we watched out dated movies while he catched some zzz's.douch!
he is one of mcc best he actually makes u think about things in class and makes u participate ur sordof teaching urself as he is teaching u when u dont even know it he's lean back and lets u make up stuff if u have a good reason of why u missed ohhhh and he understands Fridays
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! This class was way too easy! He makes class fun, and if he feels like we need a Friday off he will give it to us. We never had home work, you kinda have to study on your own though. But other than that great great class and teacher. I'm taking every class I can with him!
Great teacher would take agian
I took this class online. The teacher did not podt one comment in discussion throughout the rntire course. It took several weeks to recive responses to any communications. Tests often contained exact duplicate questions several times. Some questions had the same correct answer on multipul choices. Teacher blamed everthing on "technical" issue
Definitely an awesome teacher!! I would take any of his classes and would recommend him to anyone. The class was interesting and I learned something from it!
Fantastic professor. Clear, detailed, and structured. Learned plenty and really broadened my view of the business world. Very professional, and I would definitely recommend.
AMAZING TEACHER!! He taught the material very clearly, and he turned all class sessions into discussions. He knows what he's talking about, and it's NOT a hard class at all, but at the same time I learned more with him than any other class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! Not to mention,he is the head of his department.
Excellent teacher! Very helpful and funny. Big on classroom conversation and participation. Makes the information easy to understand and doesn't give you a hard time if you don't know an answer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER! :)
Professor Cameron is truly a pioneer and innovative teacher. He challenges his students to think outside the box... and he applies this same technique to his tests and class discussions. (Sometimes even open book tests or group tests, he truly hates the dull "scantron" type of teachers techniques) If you have the chance to get this teacher ... D
Great Teacher!!! Always finds a way to keep class intresting and students engaged. He really made me think.
wish he taught more classes
Amazing prof. The way he teaches the material gets students envolved. Wish he taught more classes. Or that there were more prof like him. He enjoys his job and cares about his students. That combo makes a great class.
GREAT TEACHER!! My Favorite teacher that I've ever had in college. Really interacts with the students, very accessible. I have no problem staying alert in his class. He is very understanding and easy to work with. I wish he taught more classes.
BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD at MCC. He gives you greater perspective of the Business world. The cases really taught me about how businesses work. The quizzes are okay as long as you read the PPT. Textbook chapters are long and a little boring. Tests were open note/book/take home. Unlike other teachers. Makes class easy, interesting, and is the BEST.
Preston is one of MCC's best instructors. He is competent with the material he is teaching and is good at relating that information to students. He actively looks for ways to involve students in his lecture and will even go so far as to ask how he can improve his class. HIGHLY recommended!
best teacher to get recommend him to anyone! :)
Honestly the best teacher at MCC. very flexible and made class fun everyday! wish he taught more classes :)
Best teacher I've had yet! Very laid back and nice. His class is pretty easy just a lot of cases to read and then fill out case reports. The testes are fairly easy as well; I finish in like 15-20 minutes. The class is fun more of an university class then a college class.
This professor is perhaps the most interesting one I've had in my college experience. He is very charismatic, and honors the opinions of all students equally. No student needs to fear that anything they contribute will be shot down like most other professors of business and economics I've had.
*rating for online class only* This class started out as extremely easy and informative the first few weeks. After a while Mr. Cameron would only return emails every few weeks and started taking points from discussion postings without a concrete explanation. I have an A in the class but I highly advise against his online class
I have nothing bad to say against Mr. Cameron, he was awesome!
This was an awesome class. He makes it interesting and keeps the class involved. All quizzes were online and open book and were extremely easy (words and definitions). There were only a few in class tests but were all open book or open notes. Definitely an easy A.
very cool understanding helpfull one of my best professors so far
Best teacher I had at MCC. I really learned a lot in this class on leadership and the importance of it in the Business world. It's a real easy class, you get 2 attempts on quizzes, open note/book/take home/group tests. There's little homework, 4 cases all semester. You have to analyse a 40 page case as the Final but if you work in a group it's easier
u can expect lots of discussions if u take his online class and 2 or so tests per week. it's a lot of work so don't take this class if u don't have the time for it!
Not an easy class if you don't read the textbook. Otherwise, this class opens my eyes. Enjoyed the in-class discussions. If you like discussions in your classes, I highly recommend it
If you are planning to take the class online, I do not recommend him. Mr. Cameron does not respond to emails, never participate on the discussion boards, etc. You do not receive any guidance from him so you are pretty much by your own. Always blaming the technical difficulties but he does not communicate the class of the delay.
Took this online course and was highly disappointed with the instructor. He didn't reply to e-mails or offer any feedback/interaction during the course. He also waited to grade 80% of the assignements until after the course was over. This class consists of a ton of discussion posts and usually two tests per week.
Avoid this online course at all costs. Excessive amount of homework (more than my 3 accelerated classes combined) and thats if one chapter is due (he occasional has assigned two chapters in a week). Discussion board is only graded at the end of the semester so you have no idea what your grade is until it's posted. Worst course i've ever taken.
Incredible professor! Taught a lot about field usage of mrkting and had some awesome insight that taught you more about the trade. Tended to not lecture as much as discuss, but the textbook was very clear and easy to follow. Its definitely a hybrid course so you MUST get the connect+. Loved this professor to bits and wish I could take more classes
Would NOT recommend this teacher class is pretty much a hybrid too much homework very boring
Class has a very confusing layout, excessive homework, long quizzes assigned online are pretty easy but they take an hour at the least to complete on top of the case reports you will be typing every night, not clear on what exactly the homework is terrible class AVOID it if possible
If you sign up for this class you can kiss your social life goodbye i would recommend this class to those who enjoy reading a textbook and doing 2+ hours of homework daily
This class is fun to attend i like the discussions we have, however very demanding on homework. And lots of reading from the textbook, requires everynight of reading or homework or a quiz of some sort and sometimes you don't have enough time to finish the quiz which is horrible! Few times I had to guess on some just finish in the time limit!
I enjoyed the debate style of his class, however be careful. If you disagree on his politics he will grade you tougher. also he won't grade assignments from months prior till the day before grades are due. I was was at a C and didn't have a B because he didn't grade any of my assignments, then when grades were posted he clearly forgot to grade them
Horrible professor EXTENSIVE amounts of homework no actual feedback on any of it only your scores typed into canvas, offered plenty of extra credit (or at least said he did)i did all of it which was a huge pain and it didn't effect my grade at all i worked my BUTT OFF and got a B very dissapointed with him defiantly the worst prof i've had at MCC
Makes you work your ass off, daily homework and online quizes which require you to search through the textbook, however slacks severely on the grading and doesnt even show you what you miss this class was miserable
Do yourself a favor pick a different professor
tests are good, lots of reading and online assignments
The class is not boring. He contributes and the students contribute in discussions, class goes by very fast. The class discusses what is happening in our society but more in depth that you would never think about. He is there for you when you have questions. Like on line quizzes. Would take him again.
Knowledgeable & funny. He really pays attention to participation so you better make sure you aren't absent too much because he'll bring it up to your attention.
Preston is the department head, and took this class the day after it started(conflict with previous teacher). Being given almost no time to prepare, he certainly made the class entertaining, and kept every persons interest. Made some friends, and gained the respect of yet another professor. Would definitely recommend him as a teacher in future.
Multiple times he posted assignments with due dates of the previous year, so inaccessible. He posted assignments with a due date after the course ended but didn't make them available. He "corrected" the issue by extending the due date again. Failed to respond to emails about it. Didn't grade anything until the last week (still not totally done).
Knew what he was doing Accounting wise, but no so much teaching wise. Cool guy, but he let the students take advantage of him. Almost every homework assignment was extended out another week or two, even though they only took an hour to complete. Lectures tended to drag on. Simple tests, and gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit.
Mr. Cameron is awesome! He cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. He does this by giving the option to earn easy extra credit and the tests have been open note, working with a partner, or take home. The homework is time consuming, but easy. He makes sure class is fun and entertaining even if it does not interest you!
I regret taking this online class. He's a terrible grader and he gives SO much homework. Take MKT with someone else!
Most unethical professor I've ever had. I worked so hard and I only got a C because he's that tough on grading. Make sure you read everyone's comments I only see four people who enjoyed this class. I wish I would have read this beforehand.
Never taken a Online class but his, It was alot of work! probably 5-6 hrs a week. Makes his quizzes using 7 different textbooks, so studying for the quiz never worked for me. Let me choose my own textbook. A Report has to be done every week, has to be sent using microsoft word "no exceptions".
Great class. Lots of (easy) homework. The majority of the class is discussions of short case readings and online open-book tests. The exams are either take home, open-note, or open book.
I had a really hard time with this proffesor. I took the online MKT 271 with him and its literally the worst class I've ever had in college. He is a very tough grader and demands perfection. When you think you do everything right you're still only graded as if you're a C student. Terrible teacher.
Class made up of case discussions and papers. Quizzes are easy and come from the book, although the reading is more than most classes. His assignment requirements are pretty clear in the syllabus, if you follow it you will do well. This class is a lot of work and time consuming but the assignments are pretty easy. Will give feedback if you ask him.
My only suggestion is to NOT take this course during the summer. 16 weeks of work crammed into 8 weeks is too much work for any
The classwork & material was not difficult. What is difficult about this class is the lack of feedback & rubric. I even emailed him repeatedly asking what I was being graded on & why I lost points on assignments & he legit said, "you'll figure it out." Discussion boards are heavy too, 6 replies instead of the usual 2 & they were very redundant.
Heres my thing, I thought online classes were an alternative to getting credits if you have a busy personal life. Wrong, at least in this class, you have to put all your effort and energy in it. He expects not only discussions but responses to multiple classmates, a lot of reading to write papers and a lot of times the instructions are unclear.
This proffesor cares. Work load is high but manageable. I really recommend taking this class in person and not online.
he is one of the great professors to whom I ever met he really good and professional in his field.
Case reports due every week. If you're taking this class online because you have a busy schedule, don't.
Dr. Cameron is very clear that it would be much easier to take his classes in person rather than online. This class had assignments/discussions due three separate days each week which was rough but the same three days making life planning easy. This was a required course for me but I enjoyed the professor and I would take him again.
This course for sbu 200 is extremely time consuming and difficult online. I have had to drop it twice already. Every week you have to do the following; write a 2000 word paper, write a discussion and respond to two people, read long textbook chapters, and take 2 quizes every week! He is also a unfair grader. Good luck
Professor Cameron is not very good at giving directions. Each online assignment was submitted and almost every student uploaded something different because of the professors lack of communication skills. I have emailed/been emailed by other students about how to do specific essays and no one ever has any idea.
I learned a lot in this class, but there was so much homework! We had to write a 2-4 page essay every week, along with a short 1-3 paragraph reply to hypothetical scenario, and an online canvas quiz. He basically graded on completions, but wont tell you why youve been docked points. If you do the hw youll pass the class, but it takes work.
This guy gives out Harvard level work and you will automatically, no questions asked be dropped if you miss an assignment. Its only 3 assignments per week but expect to write a ton on the essays if you want get a decent grade on them. Save your time and stress and take someone else.
Inconsistent Grader, Dull/Lazy Feedback. 1500-2000 word case analysis due at the end of each week with discussion and quizzes. I usually have an incredible tolerance for professors, this one needs to find a new hobby/profession. Please, don't waste your time. You'll be wishing you listened to this review if you do sign up for his worthless class.
This teacher was probably one of the hardest teachers I have ever had. He was not clear on any of the papers that were due which brought my grade down significantly. All the tests that he would give theres absolutely nothing on the textbook about them so that was also a lot harder.
I've had him multiple times as he is the only teacher for a few MGT classes. He gives a lot of busy work with little instruction. You'll work hard to get it right and he will score you low with next to zero feedback. I had him in person once and he is a nice guy but he expects students to have "academic merit" by keeping you busy with nonsense.
I am taking the accelerated course. No COMMUNITY COLLEGE prof. should be assigning Harvard material to read and analysis. Each week I have, 2 pre quizzes, 2 regular quizzes, 2 Harvard case report analysis, 2 discussion post, and 8 peer responses (4 each post). I know its an accelerated course but that's just an unfair amount of work to assign.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone, he takes a considerable amount of points for small mistakes. It does not matter how hard you work, nothing is enough for him. If you are not patient, I would not recommend this professor to you.
The Harvard business cases are annoying and require a few hours per case but grading is not strict, material for any quiz are in the books for the course and the weekly discussions are pretty easy and more opinion based. Be advised 8 week class is a lot of work, it felt like I was taking 2 courses but that is how 8 week classes work.
I'm used to a heavy workload, but this professor assigns too much work per week and requires too many responses from peers, especially for a 16-week course. I emailed asking questions and for feedback and never heard a response. He offers an insane amount of extra credit, which is the only positive. Proceed with caution, but I'd advise against it.
Professor Cameron really knows how to make his classes challenging but rewarding. This class is not as difficult as some of the reviews make it seem. Yes, it is time consuming, but it is not difficult. As long as you put in the time, follow his outlines for papers, and participate in the discussions, you will pass this class. Fairly lenient grader
I took the 8 week accelerated MGT229 course. He laid it all out. 2 chapters, 2 discussion groups, 2 quizzes and sometimes 2 case studies. If you're not all in then you're going to fail. Tell what you're expecting and I can hit that target. He said he didn't take late work, but I submitted it and messaged him about it and he gave me full credit.
He was not communicating with me when I would reach out.
The class was pretty straightforward; however, it does not "accept" late work. Assignments lock after a due period. Offers extra credit. Business reports, which are essays, almost weekly. You need to set a lot of time aside for this class. I stacked myself with classes and didn't do as well as I should have. Overall is a good professor, aside.
I had Preston D Cameron for MKT271 and SBU200. He was the worst professor I have ever had. Not once will he ever respond to you. You can send 15 emails and 10 canvas notes a day and you will never get a response. He offers extra credit every week but good luck receiving any credit for it. He is so picky when it comes to grading, it is frustrating.
If you like same assignments every week, then take this teacher, but I found his class to be repetitive and exhausting. The case studies are the worst and were outdated from 90s to early 2000s which is unhelpful for a marketing major today. If I could write more, I WOULD. I DO NOT suggest taking him unless you want to feel like learning is a chore.
Lots of work for this class, but using unstuckstudy and the textbook helped manage the heavy workload. Professor gives a lot of extra credit - the only bright spot. Proceed with caution.
Preston Cameron offers weekly extra credit. The case reports will likely be the tougher part as these are graded differently with less leeway. Weekly discussion post due by Wednesday, 4 peer responses, due by Sunday, one quiz plus business case report (1 page essay) due by Sunday as well. Expect an average of reading 50-60 pages weekly.
Professor Cameron is a joke. There is honestly no way I could pass his class. And his communication is awful he wont ever respond to any emails.
