Extremely boring, but very easy
Talks low which makes people think he's boring. If you listen, he is interesting
always willing to tell you his opinion, hard to talk to and have conversation with
Hey, this is a great educator, leave hime alone. The man served his country and lost part of his hearing, you should be thankful for his service. Very interesting! He held my attention. My favorite teacher! A special person, a gradfather figure in my eyes
the worst teacher i've ever had in terms of actually teaching. he took a whole month to return a paper, on which he required footnotes and didn't give us the lesson on how to write footnotes until after the papers were returned. grrrr
A truly special teacher. His lectures are very interesting, and he has a great knowledge of history. He gives you a sample test before the real test. Notably slow on grading papers. Very friendly. One of the best professors I've had here at UTM.
Very boring, hard of hearing, and terrible joke teller. If your looking for a 3 credit hour nap, take him. Bring a pillow to class.
This man has a wealth of knowledge to share. If you take his class sit toward the front because at times he speaks low due to a hearing impairment. I agree some of the material can be dry but he interjects anecdotes to increase interest. Read book
This is a great class! Awesome teacher!
Has a wealth of knowledge; tries to rouse your interest, but sometimes seems he's teaching elementary or high school
He is easy, but you will have to put forth effort to write papers and to study, but he gives you the questions for the test.
He is a very sweet man, but his monotone voice does make you sleepy if you take him at 8:00 a.m. His class is so easy. You really don't have to read much to make an A. Everything you need to know is on the study guide.
He is very nice. The only hard thing is the essays.
He was very helpful. The tests were easy if you study.
The nicest man, knows his history and has alot of great stories to tell. Like listening to your Grandpa tell stories. Grades hard on his papers, but tests were not real hard.
He is so nice, and he really knows his material. I would definitely recommend him to anyone! Study for the tests and you'll do just fine.
He's pretty easy. As long as you do your essays and pay attention in class. The tests come right from the study guides he gives. Fairly easy grader. He doesn't expect you to know everything
His lectures are very BORING but it is an easy class just find something to do while you are in the class. His tests come straight from the study guide he gives you so just study that. Also, you will have to write 3 papers and thats it. Easy "A"
Test are straight from studey guide. He knows history and has great stories to tell.
kinda boring but he is a good teacher and he knows his history. all you have to do is study and the tests will come easy.
He's very boring, but if you study the study sheet you will make an A on the test.
I put that he is very easy. This is only true if you study and listen in class.
War lectures are interesting everything else is boring. the class is easy do 3 essays and take 3 tests. final is not cummlative and test are essay and straight off of study guide.
Hardy is wonderful. He is so interesting and tells a great story. He makes history fun. If at all possible take one of his classes.
I have taken Preston Hardy twice. He tells great stories and actually made history interesting. He really knows his stuf and likes for his students to do good in class. He might get slightly boring from time to time but he is a great teacher.
He is really a great teacher. He can be both intersting and boring. No attendance policy but can determined a borderline grade. He gives study guide but you have to study. I never read chapters and cramed for the tests and got a B. Take notes they help.
He seemed like a good guy,but boring teacher,we had a opinion paper to write, I got a B on everything but he wrote me back and told me to keep my opinion to myself, then gave me a C for the final grade?? B+B+B+B+B+B+B=C who knew????
I loved this class. Ofcourse I like History any way. I got a B in this class.
GREAT!!!!Test come straight off study guide
His class is way easy and his tests are straight from the study guide so you really don't have to take notes. However, he's really boring.
I have him this semester. He is both interesting and can be a little boring. But if you take good note you can pass his test with ease. I am going to take him for HST 202.
Really good guy, goes into detail about different parts of US History that I never knew about. Makes you think he actually knew the Historical figures he lectures about. Tests were right from the study guide. Just study over them and you're in great shape.
He's a sweet guy! He even invited his students to his house for Thanksgiving dinner! His tests are very straightforward. He doesn't have an attendance policy, but he does take roll. If you take him, I suggest that you don't get up and try to leave the class before he's done talking.
He is a great teacher! He knows his stuff and likes teaching. He's willing to do anything for his students. His tests are easy, just take notes in class and study the study guide and you'll be fine!
Hes a very nice man. You get study guides for the test, and if u ever have any questions hes there. Just be in class and respectful and it will be easy
Dr. Hardy is so wonderful. He's like a big loveable grandpa. He tells goofy jokes that don't make since ....but he's still funny just because of his expression when he says them. Not a hard class.... just study the study guides for the test.
Super nice guy, liked him a lot. Don't be disrespectful, like walking out of class before it is over, that's just stupid. Anyways, nice old guy, grades papers sort of hard, but gives study guides for tests.
Mr.Hardy has humor and knows his stuff. His class consists of lecturing; that is it. There is a review for the test, if you do all of it as he has asked, you will ACE the test.identify 15/30 terms, 1/4 essay questions. 1 essay every month. I'd recommend him.
he is super easy if you do the study guide...he gives you 30 words and then on the test asks you to define 12 of them. Plus you do one essay question that he grades loosly. I "bulled" and got an A on every test. Great Guy Reminds me of talking to my grandpaw and listening to his stories.
Professor Hardy is one of my favorite teachers. He is very knowledgeable in history and it shows. His tests are all written, no multiple choice or true or false, but he gives you a study sheet. He requires three essays, thay are challenging, but you learn from them. he has a sense of humor, too.
I loved his class, too!Be sure you are there he is a firm believer in attendance. His tests are easy if you study the study guide. You don't have to take notes, almost all the words on the study guide are in the book.Very sweet, but be prepare to fall asleep.
He's a great teacher and knows his material well. Sometime he cracks jokes that are not funny, but he makes the class interesting. If you study the study guide, you'll do fine.
The best history teacher UT Martin has, along side "Dirty" Dan McDounogh and David Coffee.
I LOVE this man's classes. O.K. so maybe I am a History Major, but even if I weren't I would still take all the classes he taught. I'm saddened that he won't be teaching 122 in the Spring. Mr. Hardy helped me realize exactly how much I love histoy, and I credit him with helping me decide on a major.
Ol' Mr. Hardy is a great teacher. Very knowledgable. His classes are only hard if you don't try. Take him, you'l learn something.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hardy's class. he really knows his material. if you study hard, you will not have a problem making an A in his class.
Dr. Hardy grew on me a great deal. His lectures will add to your knowledge, but how much you learn is really self-determined. The first part of the semester is definitely more boring than the last, so hang in there if at first you aren't thrilled. Finally, you don't have to know anything except what's on the study guides to do well on his tests.
I was so confused he never seemed to stay on topic the time I was in there I had to drop the class cause I was scared I would fail
His tests are easy if you study.
very helpful. he knows alot about what he talks about
TAKE HIM!!! he is easy! Don't really take notes... he has a study guide before each test...study that and you will make an A. You have three papers...but they are a breeze and he is very leinant. Just turn in work and show up to class, You'll get an EASY A!!!
The class itself is boring but it is very easy. He is really funny and everything on the test is on the study guide. Only 3 papers and he grades easy. Just go to class, turn in papers on time, and study the study guide and you'll be fine. Evertime before a test or a paper I waited till' the night before and I made B's.
I love this guy! He really knows his stuff. The class gets a little boring but this is history..it's never going to get real exciting! He gives you a study guide..if you study it, you'll get an A. He assigns 3 papers a semester. They are a little time consuming but get over it, this is college. I took him for 201 and I am taking him again for 202.
The class is really interesting..you can tell he enjoys what he does! As long as you go to class and study for the tests you will do good.
Mr. Hardy is a nice guy and a good teacher. I never wrote down anything in his class but I had to study hard come test time. He isn't lenient when it comes to grading tests. I made a B in his class and I studied extremely hard. You better know the material.
He is interesting and fun to listen to if you like history. If you don't like history, he will still make it easy enough to get an A.
He lectures the entire class, but is easy to listen to. Taking notes is the best way to prepare for the tests. He is very understanding. He takes a while to hand back essays & tests, but you can tell he really spent time grading yours & wants you to do well & improve in your weak areas. Attendance is mandatory, if you wish to get points for it!
Dr.Hardy is awesome! He really knows what is talks about. Yeah he talks the whole class but just learn everything on the study guide b/c its exactly whats on the test!
A good teacher, but seemed to not like me because of my age? I am in my forties. Several times he was curt with me; the young members of the class did notice it too. I still learned a lot irregardless and it was interesting. He likes the subject he is teaching. He does not seem to care for non-traditional students, however.
Dr. Hardy was a great teacher. You do write essays throughout the course, but it's not hard. I enjoyed this class very much, and it's easily seen he loved what he teaches! :)
Mr. Hardy is very passionate about history, and it sure shows. the class is overall easy, and he makes it very enjoyable. go to class.. listen and take notes. there are 3 essays and tests throughout the semester. but he gives u a study guide for the test-- DO IT.. the tests come straight from it. the final is not comprehensive & part of the 3 tests
Had professor hardy for 201 and 202. Really a great teacher, and by far the most helpful i've encountered in my almost four years at UTM. Has 3 test and essay's, the tests come EXACTLY from the study guide and as long as you do your footnotes right on his essays it's an easy A. I had an A in both courses. Attendace is required.
He is an older man but he knows his stuff. He is a VERY good teacher. If I needed another history class I would take it with him! His test come straight from the study guide-- 3 tests and 3 essays! Not a hard class at all and I do not care for history! I learned a lot in his class!
EASY TAKE HIM!!!!
He definitely knows the stuff and is very passionate about it. This is about the only lecture class I enjoy this semester. He talks the whole time but it's like listening to a story teller . The test are easy straight out of the study guide and the papers are not that bad either.
Dr. Hardy is awesome. You can tell how much he loves history bc he gets so enthusiastic about it. He is a great person and will help you with anything you need. The class consists of 3 easy papers, 3 or 4 easy exams, and notes everyday so go to class.
If you like history, take him. If you don't like history and just want some time to study other subjects, take him. Lectures are boring but he is pretty easy. Gives study guide for tests. You have to memorize defintions and you dnt know which ones he'll put on there or what exactly he'll want. But if you put in a little effort, you should do good
Easy A here. Just go to class & that's 10% of your grade. 3 Essays and 3 tests for the whole semester. Don't buy the book, you don't need it and will never use it. Great teacher, knows his stuff. Strongly recommend taking him if at all possible.
I took him for summer classes and he was super easy! Gave us study guides for each test and told you exactly what he expected! He gave us one essay and no quizzes! He really knows what he is taking about when it comes to history! He is quick to explain anything if you just stop and ask him!
If you want an easy A then use his study guide that he gives out a week before each test. Also, make sure you don't miss class AT ALL.
He is fairly easy. You must show up to class, he does not take any excuses. you will get a study guide a week before the test. i went on wikipedia and used those for the test. it worked. he gives you a word and you have to write alot about it on the test. he gives 3 papers 3 tests. papers are easy.i wrote them in a few hours. never used book.
He does not provide notes for you to copy. You just have to listen to him and write what you think is important, which is not how I am able to learn. We had 3 test with study guides and 3 essays. I pretty much taught myself in his class because I had to look everything up on the internet to fill out the study guides and write the essays.
I took him for History 201 and 202. He made history class interesting! He takes attendane everyday, and his tests are easy if you study his study guides. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Took him for american history. I am not sure why he is so highly ranked on here. Don`t get me wrong he is not a bad teacher but he is not the best either. He takes FOREVER to get your grades back to you. It takes him over a month to grade papers and tests. But his study guides are good and his tests come exactly from the study guides.
He makes history pretty interesting. He grades papers and tests hard. But his class was overall pretty good.
Very hard grader, looking for specific details in papers and on tests. Good teacher though. Makes history more interesting by telling it like he was there and saw everything that happened.
He's an ok teacher. Not bad, not great. His tests are entirely definition and essay. His papers are a little ridiculous, but he's clear about what he wants. We barely used the book. His best quality is his lecturing. He makes history interesting and funny.
I love this class and the way he teaches it because he tells it like one big story. He keeps it interesting and makes me want to take notes. He knows a lot about history and is a very smart man. You have 3 tests and 3 papers on which he is very specific in directions but are super easy!
Not to hard of a class. the test are a little hard and his lecture is kind of boring.
Great professor he makes it interesting. Test are very simple he gives you a study guide a week in advance that has exactly whats on the test. Their is no reason why you should fail this class.
Overall, he is an ok professor. His lectures can be on the boring side sometimes. You have 3 tests and 3 papers. He gives you a study guide a week in advance that will tell you what will be on the test. I do not always agree with his grading. I have not received an A on a paper yet from him, but I made an A in the class.
Tells you what he wants and gives good study guides for all tests.
This was an easy class if you went to class and took notes. Doesn't give powerpoints, only straight lectures, and sometimes will write things on the board. He was fair in grading exams and papers.
