This teacher is just awesome! If you take this class, you MUST take hers. Her lectures are interesting, fun and entertaining, she knows her stuff, and she makes sure you get it too. She welcomes questions and is very accessible, should you need her. She is the type of teacher that inspires her students to do their very best. Thanks so much Dr. G!
She is the single smartest, coolest lady I have ever met in my life. She has taught me more about literature and academics in one semester than I learned in my whole time as a student. Seriously, taking her class could change your life. It did mine.
Really intelligent woman. Kind of an inspiration. Shows you just how far a woman can get given the drive. Don't buy the textbook until you've been to class once -- you usually don't need it. You just need your novels if you take The Novel. Don't have to be in class constantly. Caught up after being absent a few times easily. Essays important.
She is a very interesting person.. Very, Very helpful in any way and is extremely knowledgable about everything that pertains to that class and alot if other random intersting facts. Definitally recommend her to anyone whos having difficulty in english department.. She helps you understand things in a different way. :)
If you wanna leave class early this is not the teacher for you. She will go on and on yes she knows her stuff but she really goes way off and you have to tell her its past time to go. If you do the work though you will paass. She is funny just talks a little too much for me.
I took Pr. Glanville for my Women in Literature class. She is an extremely nice lady and is a true English Professor. Not recommended for those who are not good in writing or interested in literature. She does try as hard as she can to help you understand but her time is limited.
Dr. G Genuinely enjoys writing and facilitates an environment that promotes maximum development of skills instrumental to writing.
The Best Teacher I have had at MCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teacher was so cool!! very passionate about subject, completely BRILLANT person. She was very patient... this is a good teacher for those who write well and like to write. Very nice and wants everyone to "spin" everything, to understand the meanings behind everything!! love this teacher...
I really enjoyed this professor. She is very knowlegdeable, entertaining and helpful. She challenges you but also will be there to help you. I plan on taking her again in the Fall. MCC needs more teachers like her.
She is not only an amazing professor, but a wonderful person as well. Extremely helpful and really cares about the success of her students. She provided a very interesting and fun learning environment. I feel my writing skills were greatly improved.
She is extremely easy and very fun! This is an easy A class.
I learned more about writing and literature in this 6 week class then I did through out my school career. MCC needs to invest in more teachers like Dr. Glanville. She is challenging but her class is worth the effort. I wouldnt recommend any other teacher for English or Lit.
Easy? No way. Challenging, God yes. But this class was awesome. The teacher was strict but very helpful and the discussions were so interesting you forgot they were 4 hours. I learned to be a good writer in this class.
Though she is very random and goes off on tangents, she's a great person. Very happy and hyper. If writing isn't your thing, I'd reccommend someone else. But if writing is your passion, like mine, she's brilliant. Not the typical class, hardly ever notes or tests, but an overall good teacher.
I absolutely love Dr. Glanville. I have had her twice for LIT 1 & 2. I actually learned how to write and have been able to apply what she taught me to all my other classes. She is absolutely wonderful! And she does really, truly care about her students.
Prof Glanville is an amazing and talented teacher!! The work is somewhat challenging although she is always willing to help so that you learn the material and get a good grade in her class. I am taking another one of her classes next semester and highly recommend her to anyone even if you don't like english!!!
Fairly easy class, the teacher is just so much fun, I had a 3hour class, she made it fly by. Afraid or not afraid of English classes, this is your teacher
Dr. G is a fantastic teacher. She is very clear on what she wants done on her assignments. She does not assign a lot of busy work. However, the work is not easy. Be prepared to work hard, especially if you aren't very good at English, like me. She does not have a final, but her final project takes a lot of time, but she will help as much as she can
Great teacher. Not a lot of busy work however you are expected to participate in class. Pretty easy grading. Got an A.
When a professor gives kudos to an online poster who fails to meet the assignment's word minimum, and one week grades downwards for insufficient citations and then the next week grades down for excessive citations, something's wrong. Also, if it's an online class, and you don't answer repeated student emails, you're basically not helping students.
I took "The Novel" class online, it covered 4 different novels and an MLA section. She doesn't give busy work, it's all directly related to the reading and not actually that much work, just a couple quizzes and one essay assignment per novel, plus a final project. She definitely makes you think deeply for the essays, but it's not impossible.
Prof is surprisingly available for an online class, answers email very fast and meets with you on Skype. Work= tests on movements, lectures, novels, and MLA plus an essay per book (5). MLA counts heavily, prof is super strict on deadlines. Class is a good experience so far, but not an easy A.
Dr. Glanville is an awesome professor. She nade me a better writer. She gives away Academic Excellence awards at the end of the semester. Work hard and ask for help, you will learn from her!
Dr. G is the nicest and most helpful teacher I have studied with at SCF. I had her online and the difference between this class and others I took online is huge. She checks in almost every day and will send suggestions when you work ahead. I can't wait to take her poetry class in the fall. Shes so nice!
The class is organized very well and the stories are interesting. I LOVE this teacher!!!!! She is encouraging and truly kind. A really good online class!!!!!!
She is great. I liked her. I hate writing and reading so I will not comment on the class, but as a teacher she is very helpful. She grades a bit tough, in my opinion... but then again I suck at writing.
Mrs. Glanville is one of the best teachers I have had so far at SCF. She will do her best to make sure you make an A. She is very vocal and bubbly, and loves art. If you need any type of extra hrs class, TAKE HER!
One of the most passionate teachers that I have ever had in my entire life, she will help you in anyway she can but you have to let her know you need the help. Very good experience for me. Thanks Professor G
Professor Glanville is by most one of my favorite teachers I've had. I was enrolled under a blended class so all of the little class meeting we had were mandatory. I didn't use a textbook, she was helpful as possible everything was online for me.
I took prof Granville's 1102 class online my first semester in college. It was extremely easy and went by quickly. She is very caring and helpful to all her students and has a shining personality. Loved her.
Amazing teacher! So passionate about everything that she says and it makes you WANT to hang onto her every word. She's so cute too.
Dr. Glanville is one of the best instructors at SCF. She is willing to help if you ask. All of the course material was given to us so no book was needed. I took the online 8 week course and it was lots of work, but it went fast. She made it interesing. I ended up with a high A in the course and I am not a writer or a reader. Wonderful Professor!
Excellent, extremely helpful and responsive teacher. The online class is a lot of work and you need to stay on schedule, but she will go out of her way to assist and answer questions. Excellent feedback.
L-O-V-E-D this teacher and class. Easy no, but enjoyable and excellent teacher big fat YES. She has restored my confidence in what I am capable of doing, and has renewed my love for writing. Very helpful teacher, and genuinely cares about seeing her students succeed. Very knowledgeable in her field of study and just an all around great teacher.
One of the best teachers I have ever had in my college experience of 4 yrs,3 colleges. Willing to work with you if you actually put in the effort. Extremely passionate about literature, and slightly cute and child-like when she gets really excited over something! But also extremely professional! Like I said, great professor. Earned her doctorate.
She is an AMAZING English teacher!! She actually makes it fun, and I really am not to say class is fun!! I wish she could be my teacher for everything! Her and my last English teacher Ms. Ruffner are day and night, literally, Ruffner: Horrible Glanville: most helpful and kind women ever. I learned A LOT of writing techniques I use in every class
So much work. Understandably so. I feel like some things were not entirely clear so I had to ask a lot of questions. She was very helpful and full of b encouragement!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER AT ALL. Everyone please please steer clear of this horrible teacher. She does explain what you need to get done however when you speak to her she talks down to you and acts like her stuff doesn't stink. Very Very rude one on one speaking to you
Professor Glanville is top notch. She knew her teaching material like the back of her hand and was great at using her love for the subject to inspire the class. Work hard and her class will be one the highlights of your semester. Also, she makes it easy to receive extra credit. I'm taking another of her classes next semester.
Terrible. Hours of lectures not relevant to content. Demeaning and borderline judgmental. Night classes kept until the very last minute due to the irrelevant rambling of the instructor. Absolutely terrible.
Professor Glanville is an amazing teacher. Yes, she does give long lectures but the class that I had with her was only once a week so it had to be. She is so silly and fun and also very professional. She has an incredible passion for English and literature which is a wonderful quality to have in a teacher. She made me love coming to class. :)
Love Professor Glanville! Her passion is contagious. Though this class is hard work it was beyond rewarding. Dr, Glanville paves the way to be self confident as she believes in each of her students. Anyone that is eager to grow and learn needs to make sure they sign up for any of her classes bc it is worth it! Best class of the semester!
Favorite teacher thus far in my college career. Professor Glanville incites interest and sets the mood for the classroom. She is passionate and truly desires the best for her students. She is challenging and wonderful. Even if you decide not to take her class, you should get to know this lovely lady.
Unforgiving attendance policy. If you miss 2 classes she will withdraw you. I am working full time and going to class at night. I asked if she would make an exception for work commitments, and she told me that I should look into the online class. Only excuses active military service or court proceedings.
Professor Glanville was not an easy A. She makes you work for your grade. She does provide you with you good feedback. Be prepared for a lot of work after about the third week!
I've been in school for a long time and there hasn't been many teachers who care about their subjects passionately like Dr. Glanville. Her love for literature and her genuine care for her students is something I have not seen in a very long time. She is tough and she will keep you for the whole class. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask!
The most amazing professor and mentor! She truly is a blessing to me! Dr.G is inspirational and beyond helpful! She truly believes in her students and will help out even with other classes! She is the best! Her passion is contagious and her desire to see everyone reach their educational desires is so heart felt! Take her classes they are worth it!
She is super enthusiastic about her work and can be humorous at times! Dr.G is inspirational, she truly believes in her students and will help out even with other classes! Her passion is contagious and her desire to see everyone reach their educational desires is so heart felt! Make sure you have time because her work load is taxing.
Dr. Glanville is an excellent teacher. Yes, she is stern and expects students to show up. be prepared, pay attention, and complete their work ON TIME. If you can't handle that, then maybe you aren't ready for college level education! She is a blessing; she is extremely encouraging, very well versed, helpful, and provides excellent feedback.
Dr. Glanville is the best Professor! She is passionate and truly amazing! Dr. G believes in everyone's abilities. She is dedicated to seeing every student achieve their academic goals! TAKE HER COURSES! She does expect a lot but this is not high school! If anyone wrote a bad rating it is because they are whiners and want an easy A! I love her!
I had the most wonderful time in this class. I loved the material, and Dr. Glanville really makes it come to life. Her insight and historical knowledge of the movements we studied added depth to our course. She isn't the professor for the lazy or uninspired, that is for sure. Be ready to work and meet deadlines. She is clear in her expectations.
LOVE her! If you want an easy A, skip it. If you want a professor who will inspire, truly educate, and push you towards your best possible self - take Dr. Glanville! She respects her students, drives them towards absolute success, and takes an active approach to her teaching style. Her lectures are interactive and insightful. She is the BEST!
Dr. Glanville is an extremely nice and helpful professor. I take her class twice a week, each for an hour and a half, and it is wonderful. She has a really bubbly personality, and I wish I had her for all my classes! She also has a lot of extra credit opportunities, and usually answers e-mails within a day. Grading is also speedy and thorough.
She is an amazing professor who is passionate about the classes she teaches. She is always happy and a great person to be around
This teacher is a gift to the college, very inspirational, you can take what you learn in this class with you for the rest of your life
Overall ok. Had to email her because some of my answers on tests were counted wrong, but were obviously right. A few times she would give vague answers or make me dig for them because I'm "a college student" and should be able to fend for myself. Other than that, she was alright. Passionate about what she does.
She's really passionate about everything she teaches.
She is an amazing teacher, passionate and full of energy. She is also a tough grader and expects you to DO THE WORK. She knows her subjects well so there is no skating by, but if you share an enthusiasm for literature you will learn information you could never find in a textbook.
You could tell she knows her stuff. However, the majority of classes consisted of her sitting at the front of the class rambling, often times repeating herself over & over again each class. She doesn't have a final exam, but uses a final project instead. I just didn't prefer her teaching style. As a plus, she gives good feedback & offers resources
I am a graduate of SCF and am now finally able to read for pleasure. The author I had to do a project on, I am currently reading. I frequently wonder what she (Priscilla Glanville) would think about this part of the book. I admired her love for what she did and left the class feeling inspired to read. I wish I could take another class w/o the work!
Professor Glanville is an amazing professor that knows her material and has true passion for the novels she selects. There is no textbook, but you HAVE to read what she does assign. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A. You will work for your grade and if you love literature, you will love this class. (Also, it is MLA format)
Professor Glanville is one of the best professors I have ever had! I really enjoyed this class. She was very understanding and made accommodations for students after Hurricane Irma. I loved this class and I wish I could take another one with her. Papers, quizzes, and online lectures due every week. Wish I would have taken her in person!
Glanville was GREAT instructor, I always hated writing papers and she made it really easy for me to succeed in my writing. She is super quirky, easy to talk with to get help, and get along with. Not too much homework, if there was it was easy. Loads of extra credit opportunities. It is so evident that she enjoys her job and working with students.
Dr. Glanville is amazing. She is well respected and inspirational. She wants everyone to succeed.
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! I really expected to hate this class, having no interest in literature. Professor Glanville has such a passion for her students and what she's teaching, she makes you excited to learn and come to class. Great feedback on papers. Super goofy and fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Dr. Glanville is a great teacher. She sends reminders and tips throughout the semester. Everything is clear and focused. She will give tools to succeed and help with weakness. One of the hardest classes I've taken, but I'm glad I took it with her. This class was online no book. Stay organized. Extra credit throughout.
Dr Glanville wants to see every one of her students succeed. When I read her syllabus I was dreading this class because she is all about Fairytale's, but it was actually a lot of fun. She gives great feedback. You have to submit a draft of your essays ahead of time and she will help you improve your essay within a timely manner. I loved her class!
Great teacher! Fantastic feedback. Easy to understand grading criteria. Enjoyed all the readings and felt like it was easy to succeed. Lots of writing and reading but it is a Lit class. Would definitely take the teacher again.
Wow. I dont even know where to start. Professor Glanville is by far one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. She is absolutely hilarious, kind, and pushes students to be the best they can be. I looked forward to class every day. Ill be taking her again for a different class next semester. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Great Professor! Typically I don't write reviews, especially for good professors. Since I remembered to write about Prof. Glanville, it says a lot. She is very understanding and gives great lessons. If you have to miss a class, she'll let you attend another one in the same week. Writing assignments are a bit challenging, but that's how you learn.
The greatest professor I have ever had. Incredibly devoted to her students and will make sure you have what you need to succeed. If you're even slightly considering taking her, do it, don't hesitate, you will not regret it.
Awesome Professor. Really caring and inspirational. Gives out Extra Credit too on some assignments
I have never had a better teacher. She is such a nice and caring person and literally the best professor ever. So devoted to her work and students. I wish that I could take her again! If you have the option to take her-DO IT! You will absolutely love it and will NOT regret it! Best of all- she teaches for future and not just to pass.
Dr. Glanville is an amazing professor, and it is evident she genuinely cares about her students. She is very quick to respond to any emails and is always willing to help. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask her. She is not like other professors who seem annoyed when you email them or ask for clarification.
Dr. Glanville is not only one of the nicest professors I've had but she is one of the nicest people I've ever met. It's obvious that she cares for her students and she is always there if you need her. She has a true passion for literature and you will learn A LOT in all of her classes. She is AMAZING!
Creates her own textbook and lectures for you to use, you really need to have a perfectly written paper to get an A, she updates daily. Tests are not timed and you can use your notes/work. It isn't easy you need to read and understand well, extra credit is given. She gives feedback on everything which helps a ton!
Dr. Glanville goes well beyond the scope of a professor. Realizing the expense of books, everything you need to succeed in this class is in a printable format. She gives amazing feedback and is always accessible to students. She regain my faith in my writing ability and is one of my favorite professors to date.
Although she's clearly a very enthusiastic and caring professor, she takes off significant points due to minor, subjective issues on assignments. You can get up to a whole letter grade off if your MLA format has one singular error, even if you try your hardest analyzing the poems and show a clear understanding of the assignment's topic.
PHENOMENAL professor!! And that is and understatement. She is literally the best I've had in a long time. She actually cares about you as a person and WANTS YOU TO succeed. Thanks to her I am excelling in my current class and I actually know what I'm doing!!!!
Even though I wrote quite a bit for both courses I've taken with her, it's hard to put in words how exceedingly wonderful she is. I've had great teachers, but only one or two that have the gift.
Professor Glanville was amazing-I learned so much from the multiple courses I took with her. I truly became a better writer and worked hard to do better after each assignment as I could see my improvement each time. Her feedback was great and she truly cares. Do yourself a favor and take her class, whichever that may be!!
Great professor! Though, if you aren't a solid reader, consider taking her in person. 3 analyzes, collectively 40% of the grade. Take advantage of the extra credit. Otherwise, you're good. I just need a 30% or so on her final to keep an A.
rly good abt students mental health & makes her exams w/o time limits 2 help w test anxiety. Her writing assignments r free, if u can write a decently coherent paper. Work ahead the class is ez. Only annoying thing was she spammed w emails in the beginning and p much stopped at the end. Don't even rly need to do the xtra cred discussion board.
I took Priscilla Glanville's Horror, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi Literature class. She is hands-down one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure of learning from in my academic career. Her classes are super engaging and focus pretty heavily on discussion and discourse so it is imperative that you read the material assigned. If you don't, she'll know.
PROFESSOR GLANVILLE IS AMAZING. She cares about her students, making sure you understand the material and if you are struggling she will help you. One of the best English teachers on campus. What are you still doing still reading this review??? GO sign up for her class right now! Sign up for as many as you can! LOVE YOU PROFESSOR G
Professor Glanville is just amazing. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed. There aren't that many assignments for what class I had. And she gives clear feedback. She is super nice. I would reccomend taking this class with her!
Professor Glanville is an excellent English teacher. We had about three writing assignments and multiple readings that came with quizzes and she always gave great feedback and insight. It was very nice of her to provide the reading excerpts on Canvas as it helped all the students save money from having to buy the books. She's definitely the best!
I took ENC1102 online with Professor Glanville and had a fantastic experience! She included very detailed feedback in every essay, which was extremely useful. Other than writing long essays, her class was relatively easy. I would recommend her class!
She is the best. She is super nice and caring. There are only a few major assignments and a few tests and as long as you pay attention to the material its an easy A. I would retake her in a heartbeat!
Dr. Glanville is an amazing professor. She has quite a bit of knowledge and is great to speak with. She expects her students to participate and gives several opportunities for extra credit. I would love to take more classes with her, but I work full time and need classes in the evening.
Dr. Glanville loves what she does and absolutely loves literature. She gives a lot of positive reinforcement, but is definitely strict on the MLA portion of her grading. As long as you participate in the discussion boards, and work to improve with each paper, you should do fine. Ended up taking 3 classes from her because I liked her teaching style.
This is the most helpful professor I have had. I had loads of questions and she was always very fast with email. Her feedback was very detailed and practical and included resources. If you need someone to help with your skills and confidence, this is your professor. She is smart and extremely kind. I am much more confident in my writing.
This professor is amazing. I loved her class! She only has a few assignments, so grades&participation matter. I look her accerlated course, its very manageable. She provides you with the readings you will work on. She defiantly wants you to participate in discussions and she offers extra credit! Super management workload and super nice professor
Professor Glanville is an amazing English instructor. She provides detailed feedback to help you improve your writing. The class is manageable with the right study strategies - unstuckstudy and the free course materials were super helpful for me.
Took the 8-week course, and it was a lot of writing, though I was also very doable. The class mostly consists of reading old literature and doing a discussion post about it or a test on the reading. The discussion posts would have either an essay you wrote or answering questions that totaled about 700-800 words. Good time management is needed
Dr. G is an amazing professor. My writing improved so much just within a few weeks. I was able to learn from my mistakes and be better because of the clear feedback. She has many resources on her canvas and everything is expertly laid out. If you struggle with writing absolutely take her, she will help you grow!
