Priscilla is the best PSY teacher I've had at UCD. Her lectures don't make you wanna droop your head in boredom. She's engaging, enthusiastic, and funny! Her class consists of 5 article assignments which are pretty easy, 2 midterms and a final that is NOT cumulative. Very approachable and kind! But gotta attend to pass!
Prof San Souci made my experience great! She is super interacting and makes jokes here and there during lecture. She also makes sure everyone is crystal clear after each concept. This course consists of 2 Midterms, 1 Final, and weekly quizzes on smart site. The quizzes are really easy and you can take them as many times as you want. Great class!
Prof. San Souci (or Priscilla, as she prefers) is possibly one of my most favorite Psych professors. She is delightful, thoughtful, engaging, and so enthusiastic. Two hours lectures with her flew by and I learned so much. Would take again if I could.
BEST PROFESSOR 4ever! I love her so much, she is very kind, helpful and attentive. Please take her class lol!
Priscilla is amazing -- super sweet and engaging. She does post podcasts of the lecture (or at least she did this quarter), so if you have a scheduling conflict you can miss class and listen to it later. Just don't abuse that ability--her lectures are fun and worth going to!! Also love and appreciate her outlines--make following along super easy.
Priscilla is such an awesome teacher. I'm an Animal Science major and being in her class made me super interested in Psychology! She explains things so well with lots of examples and her tests are very straight forward! Super easy and fun GE to take! Highly recommend.
She's super nice and is very helpful in class!! Tests are straight forward multiple choice and you get a note card, if you study lectures it should be pretty easy. Kept class interesting and was very fun to listen to.
10 weeks with Priscilla is not enough, she's engaging, funny and really caring. She answers any questions anyone has and if she doesn't know the answer she will point you in a direction where you can get those answers. Tests are very straight forward.
Hands down best teacher I have had at Davis. No question. She makes the class easy, she literally gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Study guides, notecards that you can hand write for the test, plenty of office hours, and a easy class structure. You have the grade right there, but you have to pay attention during lecture. Not that bad.
The most lovely psc teacher I ever have. Excellent lecturer, and always try to remember students' names. Tests are straightforward.
Love Priscilla! Would definitely take again. Straightforward grading, very helpful office hours.
Ive never had a teacher who cares so much! Gives amazing lecture outlines that are a great guide to studying as well as a notecard on tests and she does podcasts! Tests were extremely fair and she was such a sweetheart - she cares about your learning and your grade :)
There are no words for how amazing Priscilla is. Such an honor to have been in her class. She cares so much about every single student. Just a wonderful person. Do not miss the chance to take her class. The tests and homework are straightforward. If you study, you'll be fine.
The most amazing professor I've had at Davis. I hear about everyone taking psc with other professors and they say that there was a ton of information that was pretty useless but Priscilla just teaches us what we need to know. Take her class you will NOT regret it.
Priscilla is super nice!! My recommendation is to use the book, just because the course is a lot of memorization of facts/ideas of psychology. I received a B+ and I didn't even have the book and i skipped some lectures.
Really nice professor that really cares about her students. Her office hours are both helpful and easygoing.
Priscilla is one of the best teachers at Davis. She makes learning fun and her tests are very straightforward, no surprises! Take this class!
Priscilla is by far my favorite professor hands down. She is SUPER energetic and sweet. VERY straight forward with what you need to know. It says something when she remembers everyone's name. 3 midterms and optional final. Drops lowest midterm. Loves getting questions. Interacts with you but not forceful about it. 2 hour lecture felt super short!
The best professor I've had at Davis thus far. She truly cares about her students understanding of the material and is willing to go the extra mile to help every single one of them. Come on Davis, get it together and hire her to teach full-time!
A great and caring instructor who is near constantly energized by being there to teach you.
absolutely loved priscilla! she was so sweet and truly passionate about the subject. i'm not a psych major but she has made me more interested in psych. def READ THE TEXTBOOK! i read the textbook and did really well on my last exam, compared to the other exams. it's a lot of reading but it gets the job done. :)
Priscilla is the sweetest professor I'v taken. She makes a note to remember everyone's name, really cares about the class, and is great at teaching! For PSC 01, there are no assignments except quizzes, which you can take as many times as you want in order to get the highest score possible. There is extra credit and 3 non-cumulative exams, too!
She's really nice especially since she tries to build rapport with her students and remembers almost everyone's name. Her lectures are pretty interesting and she posts lecture outlines before class. The only things that make up grades are quizzes and midterms. The quizzes are unlimited tries but it's best to really study on the midterms.
She is honestly one of the best professors and her class was so straight forward and easy. She gives you study guides and in-class review sessions. She also lets you bring a cheat sheet to the tests including the final which is not cumulative. She is very caring and funny and you will love her.
Priscilla is one of the most caring professors I had during my first quarter here at UC Davis. I was getting B averages on my midterms and needed a 96 to get a solid A in the class and I went to her office hours and got the A due to her reviews. She cares a lot about her students and was very supportive and truly believed I could do it. Take her!!!
Amazing person, hard to come by a professor that cares about their students as much as Priscilla. It's not that easy to get an A since exams are 50 questions multiple choice, and you can only miss 3 questions on each exam to get an A. However, she is hilarious and is totally worth it to take this class, go to her office hours gives great advice.
She is honestly one of the most lovely professors at UC Davis. She tries to make her 2 hr lectures as entertaining as possible. Definitely use the lecture outlines she provides and read all chapters and you should be able to get an A in her class. She also provides great review sessions before exams and is always willing to help in office hours.
Priscilla is a real gem, she's hilarious and caring and will work insanely hard to make sure you understand the material if you just ask, gives so many opportunities for review before tests, and really cares about students and their wellbeing, SHE LITERALLY TOOK THE KIDS WHO COULDNT GO HOME FOR BREAK BOWLING IN THE MU if you get the chance TAKE HER
I truly enjoyed taking the course and would take again. She really does teach the material, very approachable. So far the best teacher I have taken thus far. Do study the material she gives you and you will be fine. (10/10 recommend)
Very reasonable readings and tests (you will get an A if you do the work!) She is such a fun and caring professor and I would definitely take her class again
I was thinking about double majoring in psychology and this class has definently pushed me towards that. If you get the chance, do take psychology with pricilla, she is so excellent and makes all of the grading very clear. She looks to each person as a student and makes sure that we have all of the tools possible to succeed in her class. Take her!!
She is an amazing lecturer and going to her class was the highlight of the day, really she has got to be my favorite professor so far. Tests and quizzes are fair if you study.
Amazing at everything she does. Some professors care about their students, but Priscilla takes it to the next level. She knows names, listens to all concerns and feedback, and tries 100%. Every prof should aspire to be what Priscilla is. Plus the class is easy if you, you know, show up. You get a notecard for tests, no curve but you don't need one.
Priscilla is super caring and sweet! She made lectures interesting and the exams were very straight forward.
Actually enjoyed coming to her class everyday. Has a great sense of humor and a good energy about her. Gives you everything you need to do well on tests. I hate to say her class was easy but her tests were extremely straightforward so if you study you will get an A.
I loved taking PSC1 and I loved having Priscilla as a professor. She was an excellent lecturer and even if the lectures tended to drag on, she would make it a fun environment. You can tell she really cares about what she talks about. She prepares lecture outlines for each lecture and that really helped me in earning an A.
You got two midterms and one final, the highest counts for 30 percent of the total grade, the other two counts for 25 percent. The level of difficulty is increasing as you approach the end. Get ready to read and memorize a lot of things. NO CURVE for this class. Only 1 percent extra credit if you fill out the course evaluation.
Very good professor. She is very clear when she lectures. Her expectations are clear from the beginning. Her exams (for my time in the class) were multiple choice and very straightforward. Overall, a great professor.
Priscilla was so caring and understanding of her students, on top of that being a great lecturer. It was a drab to go to an 8 AM class, but she made it worth it. Grading criteria is clear and although there is no curve, getting an A is very doable as long as you complete assignments. Would definitely recommend
Her lecture is too easy, so what makes me uncomfortable is that everyone has a high grade and high average score in each exam, which creates unfairness. Learning by oneself is highly unrecommended and one really should attend review sessions if one wants a score beyond average.
Attendance is not mandatory but I personally enjoy her letters so I don't mind showing up. If you do the reading with notes provided by her and go to lecture you are guaranteed an A. You can either go to lecture or do the readings w/notes or listen to her podcast to get an A. Her study guide tells exactly what is on the test. I highly recommend:).
Priscilla is a very energetic lecturer, and cares very much about her students. This year, classes were cancelled for an extended period including when we were supposed to take our second midterm. Instead of cancelling the midterm and increasing the weight of the final/other midterms, or rescheduling, she cancelled it and gave everyone 100%.
Amazing lecturer, podcasts all lectures and is super clear about what is expected and what is on test. 10/10
She's amazing! I love her lectures and had been to her office hours a couple of times, you can ask her any questions, if not, she will just review the materials she covered in class. A really funny and caring professor, definitely recommend her!!!
Priscilla is an amazing professor! 150% recommend taking PSYCH 001. Geniunly cares for her students and the quality of her teaching! Come to her lectures, she makes them fun and often is sarcastic. Best professor I've so far had.
She was truly amazing. In a lecture hall of 300+, she managed to keep the students engaged. High energy, fun young woman. During the campus closure, she emailed us at least once daily on updates for us, even cancelled an exam and gave everyone 100%. I would trust her with my future children.
She actually cares about her students and it is her goal to get you an A.
This is honeslty one of the best professors I have ever had. She cares about her students and is very open to questions. GO to her office hours if you have any questions about the material. She literally outlines her lectures for you and audio tapes her lectures. Easy A and she is a great lecturer.
She is definitely a professor that I would recommend to take for psychology! Easy class and exams are straight from the study guide!
I took her class this last quarter and she is by far the best professor I've had so far. Not only are her lectures entertaining, but she also posts study guides onto Canvas that she creates herself after creating the exams. She's a sweet person who cares about her students and wants her students to succeed. TAKE HER CLASS!!
Priscilla is very passionate about psychology, it shows in the way she teaches this class. She is also very understanding so make sure you talk to her when it comes to late assignments or other things. Her lectures are engaging and hilarious. There is no extra credit in this class but you don't need it at all.
love her! take this course!
Take her !!!!! I truly recommend.
Just show to class. 10/10 professor. Id trust her with my children.
One of the best professors I've taken. If you need to take this class don't take it with anyone other than her!! She outlines her lectures for you so you can print them and you just take notes during lecture. Book can be accessed online for free. Most caring professor I have met so far. Go to her office hours for unclear topics. Tests are m.c.
Great professor. I had her for psych 1 and she provided lecture outlines and podcasts, as well as study guides and learning materials. Great class for freshman looking for a social science GE!
Priscilla is one of the best professors UC Davis has to offer. She's clearly passionate about psychology, but is also incredibly caring and wants the best for all of her students. 110 minute lectures can be rough, but she keeps you entertained the entire time. I learned so much and Priscilla has inspired me to pursue psychology!
Amazing professor! Super sweet and cares a lot about her students. The exams were straightforward and she posts podcasts of lecture if you miss class. Overall, would highly recommend!
She is honestly so nice and wants all her students to pass. I took AP psych in high school and it's essentially the same thing. She does podcasts for every lecture and after almost every lecture there will be a quiz. The quizzes are easy and you can do them as many times as you want until you get 100% TAKE HER!!
VERY easy class and Priscilla is a fantastic professor! She really cares for her students and is very knowledgable and accessible. Lectures are podcasted, lecture notes are posted, there are review sessions for both midterms and the final, easy Canvas assignments for lecture review, and you can use a 4x6in note card on both midterms and the final.
She's amazing, probably the best professor in UC Davis. She cares for her students a lot and her lectures are amazing. She wants you to pass with a good grade.
Easy A. I was able to skip a few lectures and get As on all of the midterms just by going through the lecture notes thoroughly before each exam. Learned a decent amount about psych too.
Best instructor I have had in my life
Priscilla is a great professor with a lot of energy. She cares about her students and really wants everyone to pass. Her exams are based on the lecture slides and whatever else she mentions, you don' really have to read the book. She gives out a study guide and you have an index card as a cheat sheet. Just go to class and pay attention.
the study guides are exactly like the exams and you get to use a 4x6 flashcard. final is not cumulative. i had the class at 8 am but the prof is so nice/likable so i went to class just because it was just fun to attend. you really don't need to go to class tho because she posts lecture podcasts.
She is so nice and caring towards her students. Her exams are similar to her study guides, attendance isn't mandatory but it's good to listen to the lecture podcasts. A lot of memorization but she allows you to have a 4x6 notecard on the exams! Overall, she's a really nice professor and you just need to put effort to memorize and you'll be fine!
This is one of the best professors I have had so far. She is so funny and caring and her lectures are amazing. She is super engaging and very easy to talk to. She cares a lot about how students do in the class and wants you to succeed.
She's a sweetheart, made this one of the easiest classes I've taken here. Most of what you learn in PSC140 is common (and useful) knowledge, yet she provides detailed lecture outlines anyway. You do not have to attend class (there are lecture podcasts). Average on exams was an A-. I HIGHLY recommend this professor and this class.
This was the best class I could have taken my first year and helped me realize how much I loved my major. She made sure all topics were clear and was open to questions from students. The tests were direct and straightforward.
Allows you to use a note card for all three exams. Graded by 2 midterms, a final, and weekly quizzes that you can retake as many times as you want. There was a mandatory research requirement by the department too. Coolest Psyc professor.
She laid out lecture outlines, making taking notes and studying easy. Easy A just by studying the lecture outline. It is definitely possible to get perfect grade in the class if taking more notes and attending lectures.
Absolutely amazing teacher, if you need to take psychology or need an easy A this is the class to take. She is so caring and enthusiastic. She has 3 midterms and takes the one you score the best on to be your 'final' and you get a notecard on each exam. She gives you note outlines and study guides.
Only A+ I've ever received. Very caring "mom type". Wants students to succeed. Easy A. She creates helpful lecture outlines and review sessions. You get a notecard cheatsheet for all tests. 3 non-cumulative midterms and gives your highest overall grade the most weight. Clear lectures and clear expectations.
I loved San Souci so much. She'll answer any question you want as many times as you want. Nicest and most approachable professor at Davis. The course was very easy too. The tests were all based on the lecture outlines that she posted. You get a notecard to use on exams which is helpful to remember key terms. Please take San Souci any time you can!
Easy class, amazing teacher! You learn a lot from her and she is incredibly sweet and optimistic. The class average for the exam was 92. Not that much work and really not difficult at all if you show up to class, read the book, and do the online activities. There are 3 exams and online homework assignments that are not difficult at all.
For this course, we were graded on quizzes, midterms, and a final exam. The quizzes are generally easy as long as you keep up with readings. Also, you have 3 attempts for each quiz. The midterms aren't cumulative and she told us the topics on them beforehand. AMAZING PROFESSOR
amazing amazing amazing amazing amazing amazing. lets you use a 4x6 index card for the noncumulative midterms and final (super helpful). doesn't ask about anything that's not covered in lecture. tests are super to the point. she makes me WANT to take her upper div class w her. the coronovirus scare led her to give everyone a hundred on the final
Truly one of the best professors I've had; she genuinely cares about her students and makes sure you understand the material. Her lectures were engaging for a morning lecture. Her exams were multiple choice and her quizzes were all through Canvas. She allowed a cheat flashcard on the midterm and provided a study guide too.
I LOVED taking PSC 1 with Professor San Souci! The class was so much fun and she made it so worth to go to an 8am class. Loved the material choice too. Had to buy the book because the rented ones were all gone, but I'm happy I did because I love the book! Tests were easy non-cumulative. Canvas quizzes were easy. I Recommend take this class with her!
I absolutely loved her class and wished that a lot more classes were structured in the same way. The way that she has set up her class definitely helped me engage in the material a lot better and succeed to her expectations. She is a very kind, caring and innovative professor that truly wants the best for her students.
One of the best professors I've had! You could tell she actually cared about students' learning. Lectures were engaging and she didn't just read off of the slides. Reading/homework was grindy but easy points, and it does serve a purpose as doing it pretty much guarantees you'll do well on the test. Tests are easy and she even gives study guides.
She's very educational and coherent. Her lectures were basically based off of Launchpad (textbook/assignment), so if you don't care, you don't need to go to class. 2 MT, 1 Final, Launchpad (textbook activity + quizzes). For Launchpad, all those questions are searchable as well. If there's a google doc study guide, use it. Exams are very direct.
The special quarter finished, she was really helpful. Three exams (include final) each 20%. 20% lecture quiz, 20% online quiz. Easy A and have to review all the lectures before the exam!!!NO extra credit for this class at all. Focus on the class only and do your homework as early as possible to save time. Need review exams after score come out!
Priscilla San Souci is the most amazing professor I've learned from so far at UC Davis. I took PSC 1 and I learned a lot from San Souci. There is a lot of information to learn, but she posts the lecture slides beforehand which makes learning the material not too difficult. This class is easy but some effort is still required to achieve an A.
Amazing person and professor. Lectures were educational and fun. When the pandemic hit, unlike other professors who prioritized their curve over their student's well being, Professor San Souci took it upon herself to make sure that we were not only safe, but also did her best to accommodate everyone and changed the grading scheme to reflect that.
San Souci is amazing. If you need to take a psc 1 one, take it with her. There's no hw, the quizzes are so easy, the exams are so easy, and you get a notecard on the exams. I ended with a 99% in the class, bro. I only went to three lectures plus the two exams dates, all lectures are podcasted. Also she's a very funny person, 10/10 would recommend
The reviews here really are true! Priscilla is a god sent professor! She is super caring and makes time for her students and her lectures are super interesting (to the point where I went to every single lecture at 8am!) Just as long as you pay attention and do the work, you should do fine. She is the reason I doubled in psc :)
Priscilla is one of the best professors I have had yet, and that's considering her class was 450+ students. She tells interesting anecdotes during her lectures, and her slides are always posted. Her tests were multiple choice and she gives you a study list. I ended her class at the start of COVID-19 and she handled the situation really well.
San Souci is one of the most caring professor I have ever had. She shares good life experiences that relate to Psychology which is very helpful to understand it easier. She is very supportive and well spoken. I love her! Take her!
COVID-19 situation happened at the end of the quarter. Out of all my professors, she was the only one who truly handled the situation very well, and she took her students into consideration. I woke up for her 8 am, 2-hour lectures but her lecturing made it bearable. 2 noncumulative midterms/ 1 final, easy quizzes, can use a notecard.
Professor San Souci is probably the best educator at UC Davis. She's caring and passionate about what she teaches, but is so unbelievably accommodating and flexible. The course had a lot of reading material but the tests were very straightforward.
Professor San Souci is probably one of the most caring professors that I have encountered at UC Davis. She was very accommodating during remote instruction and showed that she truly cared about her students' mental health and learning. Graded on two non-cumulative exams, class activities, lecture quizzes, and reading assignments.
I have Prof Cross, but since PSC41 combined, I am absolutely amazed by Prof Souci's enthusiasm. She's extremely welcoming, engaging, and does her best to ensure her students understand. I attended her OH once and now I am hooked to learn more from her! I totally recommend her - you will appreciate the concepts and understand the lessons better.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! She is so fun and explains things so well. I truly believe she teaches in a way that allows students to retain the information. She also makes the course flow really well so that you aren't ever overly loaded with stuff to do. I wish she could teach all my classes.
Love her! Super caring and her lectures are interesting! I took this class Winter 2020.
San Souci is one of the best psych professors in the department. She gets information across clearly, and makes sure you know your stuff without giving ridiculously hard exams. Such a sweet woman who truly cares for her students, it's very hard to get below a B in her class. I wish she could teach all of my classes tbh
She's very nice and passionate about psychology. I would recommend her because the quizzes are really easy, midterms aren't too difficult, and the book(pdf) is available on the internet for free (don't need equitable access). I didn't get an A+ because I didn't prioritize it over my more challenging courses.
It is fitting that she teaches developmental psychology, because she treats her students like young children (in a sweet, but patronizing, way). Intuitive material. Exams have no time limit. There is a "term project" which is just a series of simple and straightforward written assignments. One of the easiest classes out there. I recommend her.
She was such a fun and engaging professor! Makes going to class really easy. Research requirement was fun and simple to complete. Tests based off the lectures, but make sure you also take notes on anything she adds during lecture. Weekly quizzes and 3 midterms (last midterm was the 'final'). Hope to have another class with her!!
The best lecturer and the kindest as well. I learned a lot and my biggest tip for getting 100% on her exams is to read the textbooks and take notes. The textbook is pretty easy to read. San Souci really cares about her students and her lectures were really fun I wish we were in person :(
If you've had the privilege of taking San Souci for PSC1, she's the same wonderful person in 141. This class is a bit different from other PSC upper divs in that there is only one midterm and final, with some major writing assignments mixed in. These are carefully graded but very doable as long as you put due time and effort into them.
She is the sweetest professor and makes learning psychology fun and interesting! Has a great personality, exams were fairly easy, and she is always available outside of classtime to help anyone who needs it. I would definitely recommend taking this class. I miss it already!
She is the sweetest professor I've ever had! She sincerely cares about her students which is very refreshing to see. Her online class consisted of 6 hours of participation in studies (which you have the entire quarter to work on), weekly super easy quizzes you can retake up to 3 times, and 3 non-timed exams. Everything is open note! Please take her
If you have the chance to take psc1 with Prof San Souci, please do! She is an amazing lecturer and the course is set up perfectly given the online format. She is charismatic and entertaining, even at 8 in the morning, which is fairly difficult to do. Probably the best lecturer I've come across at Davis so far.
This lady truly is amazing and if you have the chance to take her class, please do so. Her lectures are super interesting and informative, the quizzes are easy, and she is super flexible if special circumstances. She even extended the final exam cause she wanted us to rest over the weekend. Shes such a sweetheart.
This is my third time having Professor San Souci, and she never disappoints. I wouldn't say PSC141 is easy, as the exams required you to really know some of the finer material, but she sets you up with everything you'll need to succeed. Priscilla's super caring and accommodating, too.
Prof San Souci can make even me (the nightest of night owls) want to attend her 9am class! Her energy and enthusiasm towards psychology is contagious and makes me feel very engaged. Her lessons essentially builds on top of each other which means that as long as you diligently do the PsycLearn modules and take notes, you'll pass with an A for sure
Loved her and this class! Very kind and understanding, and offered lots of alternatives if you were sick or couldn't make it to class. Always knew what was expected of me. 5 module exams and a cumulative final, but they drop the lowest score. Easy homework assignments to boost your grade. Very straightforward!
Dr. San Souci is one of my favorite professors I have had at UCD so far. She's so kind and understanding about everything, so aside from being an amazing professor, she's also a great human being. The class is super manageable in terms of workload, practice exams are given for every test, lowest one is dropped. You won't regret taking her class!
She has 5 stars for a reason. Very personable and willing to make connections with her students in and out of class. Very simple grading which consists of hw, quizzes attached to hw, and 5 quizzes and final (can drop one of the 6). She enjoys feedback in class through clicker because she really wants people to understand the material.
great teacher, understanding and considerate. The material for the class is easy and the clear grading criteria allows for an easy A. Super fun class!
She was genuinely phenomenal! Exceptionally caring and clear about the concepts. The class was broken down into 5 modules, with a test following the end of the modules and the final was optional. You need to add in the keywords in the tests to pass the written portions, but the multiple choice section was a breeze. Overall incredible!
Mostly taught by video lectures given by Prof. Luck (there's a lot of them, all pretty easy to understand), but the 1 lecture/2 wks Prof. San Souci gave were engaging and straightforward. Class graded by 5 unit tests + final + quizzes on the video lectures, which are all MC and easy if you've learned the material well enough to apply it
Easiest A of my life. I didn't go to a since lecture once. Some TAs don't take attendance for discussion sessions. The homework can be a little time-consuming, though not difficult at all (you can google the answers). All unit tests and the final exam were online. Like others have said, if you don't get an A it's your fault.
The structure and videos are amazing but this class is not that much of an easy A due to the vast amount of videos and information's you have to watch and know. I had this in the open book format(not typical) and they would ask specific tedious questions that were meant to trick you and they did, cant imagen how it is when its not open book.
Took it as a GE. I stopped going to lectures and discussions, I'd only take notes on the lecture slides to study for the class at the end of the quarter - the number of videos we had to watch was ridiculous. Despite that, tests were easy since they were open notes. The class was super organized, and she is very sweet.
She was so sweet, I also got the opportunity for her to lead my discussion too so that was nice. The class is mostly based on the lectures online but the in-person lectures help a bit. The discussions are fun and the tests are open notes/internet. She also was interested in the subject so that made it fun.
Pretty boring class but if you are looking for a GPA booster I definitely recommend. Due to covid, all exams online and open note so the class was SUPER easy. Lots of lectures to watch online and i found them all to be boring. Never went to a live lecture so I cannot comment on the professor but all professors for psc1y use the same online lectures
Prof San Souci is so sweet & has such interesting lectures. Most of class is online lectures from Professor Luck and you do a bunch of tiny quizzes a week as hw that totally even out to a fair grade. 5 Exams instead of midterms and they're challenging but totally doable (23/25 on all 5). Comprehensive notes but would be accessible (TAs) if needed
Can't find the words to say how amazing Dr San Souci is! She is so sweet and understanding, go talk with her if you're struggling! Hard to reach via email, so in person is best. There are 3 papers, & they can take a hot second, so start those early (1st due in 2nd week). Lectures are easy to follow and understand. 2 non-cum midterms.100% take again
AMAZING PROFESSOR! Class consists of 9 quizzes (with 3 attempts each), 2 midterms, and a final, which are all multiple-choice and open-book. You also have to take 6 hours of research participation, so make sure to sign up for studies ASAP. Keeps lectures interesting despite them being 2 hours each.
Have always heard great things about San Souci as a professor and I can safely say they are all true! She makes the content interesting and engaging. With PSC 1 being an intro class, she didn't make the material too hard and tried to give an overview of basic psych concepts which was nice and piqued my interest in the subject.
Great professor! Enjoyed her class and she makes the material fun and interesting. The tests were very fair and straightforward. I recommend taking her class, it was a great time.
Such a great professor and is clearly passionate about the subject and does everything she can to make this class a low stress as possible. Weekly quizzes with multiple attempts and 3 exams that are not cumulative. Make sure you participate research for the research requirement because it can be a pain to get it done if you wait too late. Easy A
Priscilla was absolutely lovely!! Loved her psychology lectures and felt very engaged during class! She also shortened the lecture time multiple times which was very convenient. She likes participation so make sure to answer her questions when she asks!!
Class was pretty chill. One midterm and a final that are very straight-forward, a few easy Canvas quizzes and some LaunchPad quizzes with unlimited attempts - all assignments unlimited time, open note, open book. I didn't go to lectures. Prof. does not answer emails - talk to TAs.
Professor San Souci was clear, organized, and nice throughout the whole course. The video assignments for the class are a lot, but if you take notes it's pretty much what's being taught in lectures. The course is basically also self-taught so the TAs are there to reinforce what you learn, all the staff is pretty available during office hours though
Very nice, clear lectures and makes sure to check that students understand. Tests were all in the same format as the practice exams and homework/participation points were flexible.
she was super friendly and kind, and explained things well. the class is formatted very easily, but it's important to pay attention to the grading criteria to do well. if ur going to take this class, shes definitely the best choice!
Priscilla is kind, knowledgeable about the subject, and makes the exams easy. There were weekly discussions, a paper, three exams and an optional cumulative final. However, she wasn't communicative with us outside of class. Especially with the strike, she never really updated us about what was going on nor did she reply to our canvas messages.
The Proffesor is Amazing, super helpful in office hours. This class is mainly graded on all 5 midterms. there is an optional final.
Priscilla is a good professor. She is very knowledgeable about infant development. She is kind and welcoming. The only complain about her is that she doesn't respond to emails. I emailed her and messaged her on canvas on 3 separate occasions and I never got a response.
I LOVE SAN SOUCI! She's so passionate about the subject and has a great personality. She actually cares about her students and making sure they understand. PLEASE take her for PSC 041! Exams were all fairly easy and she has great study material beforehand for them. Psychlearns are LONG but helpful. Overall amazing class and kind of an easy pass.
Best professor I've had by far. She really gets students engaged and she tries to learn everyone's name. I went to office hours once during week 2 and she remembered me the whole quarter. Dr. Cross explains things a little better but Dr. San Souci makes you want to learn. I love her sm. I wish I could have her for every class I until I graduate.
She is a good professor. She knows all the content she teaches and can answer any questions about the course. However, the practice exams or the review sessions were rather confusing, and I had to go to the office hours constantly. We had five exams plus one optional final, and two of the lowest grades were dropped.
Super nice professor, great GE class.
By far my favorite professor ever! She's awesome. Yeah classes are mandatory but honestly it is so worth it with the way she teaches. I learned more about statistics in this class than any other math class I have taken. She just makes it make sense. Please please take her class, you will not be upst.
Awesome professor, since she explains concepts really well by giving real life examples during bi weekly lectures. The instructional team and the professor provide a lot of resources to do well in this class such as holding review session and extra practice exams. Definitely take this GE as it is a very interesting beginner course on psychology.
5 days a week in person lecture, discussion every week, grading is extremely fair, and Professor Souci is amazing.
There are tons of online lectures and quizzes but a lot of the answers are found online. Unit tests and finals are easy as long as you take notes of the online lectures. I was dropped from the course cuz of waitlist but she gave me PTA as I emailed her. So even if you don't get off of waitlist, don't give up. Her reply to emails are slow tho.
Easy class it is quiz heavy but quizlet is your best friend. However, the unit tests never matched what you would answer within the multiple weekly quizzes but it is okay since it was pretty easy to guess ish. Gotta go to dissc. and lecture but slay!
A lot of quizzes and easy tests. Good for GE.
All assignments and tests are online, and it is very easy to complete them. There is a weekly lab section with mandatory attendance. Just an easy GE class.
I loved this professor! Lectures were a bit long but were engaging. Her grading criteria is lenient and prioritizes learning over anything else. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities and her exams were based largely on the practice ones. The textbook assignments are a bit tedious but otherwise I highly recommend taking her!
Great professor! Lectures are so fun that it is highly recommended to attend.
I love this professor! She has such engaging lectures, and really wants each student to receive an A. She offers a lot of different assignments for different learning styles, giving you room to chose what you want to complete for your grade. She is very easy to talk to outside of class, take her!
She is soooooo sweet and caring. Her tests are grading a bit tough but if you pay attention you will do fine. She is so nice
Surprisingly I enjoyed this class despite stats. Lectures were great and easy to understand! Everything is recorded. Prepare for many tests, there are 5 midterms and a final, the lowest is dropped. There is lots of homework, however only 250 points are graded. There is extra credit. Tests are fair and feedback is given after each one.
She is very caring but a midterm every other week was a little overwhelming on top of my other classes. This class is all built upon each other so try not to fall behind, if so she is very reachable outside of class. Lowest score is dropped which is nice, overall very sweet but also very test heavy. Assignments are lengthy
I think souci was a great prof, but the tests were graded very harshly, had some grade discrepancies toward the end, but this class is a lot of work if its not a major req. I think the content was straightforward but the grading criteria felt all over the place sometimes.
She is the best professor I've had at Davis so far. There are unit exams every other week, however she prepares you very well in lecture. Questions on the exams are very straightforward and the best advice I could give is to pay attention to the iClicker/practice questions during lecture. Extremely caring and considerate.
Professor San Souci is the GOAT!!! Her lectures are always engaging and she tries to make every material easy to understand. Take her classes if you can!!! :)
The info in the course could've been super boring but she made the lectures engaging. There are 3 exams and 1 final yet the final is optional as 1 of the tests is dropped. Each test was similar to the others so they were fairly easy. She also does review sessions before tests and goes over a practice exam with you which is close to the actual test.
I mean, she got that many teaching awards for a reason...
She is honestly my favorite professor I've ever had. There are lots of exams in this course, but they are easily passable and you get feedback on each one. She is so willing to help you whether in class, after class, or during office hours, it is clear she really wants you to succeed. Lectures were recorded, but I recommend going in person.
Professor San Souci was one of the best professors I've ever had. Despite the technical difficulties we encountered in the course, she continued being a great lecturer and truly cared about everyone's success. Listen to her lectures and skim through the lecture notes before the exam and you are sure to succeed in the course.
Great lecturer and makes the content very accessible. The hw is a little overwhelming at first but once you understand what's being asked of you it's easy. Exams are JUST like the practice exams and it's easy to do well in this class. Grad students were on strike and she did the MOST to make sure we still got what we needed (fall 22)
Honestly, this class was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. I rarely ever watch her lectures (besides the review ones with the answer key to the practice midterms), since she tends to ramble on random tangents most of the time. Everything you need to know is on the slides and PsycLearn. Also her practice midterms basically give the answer.
Attendance is not mandatory at all so that was great but exams are in person (you get a notecard) but you def still need to study. There's a lot of writing for this course but if you read and follow the rubric closely, you'll be chillin. Not a very interesting class imo because of it being 99% repeated from PSC 1, PSC 130, and HDE 100A.
Took Professor San Souci for PSC 41 and I really enjoyed it! The lecture content was straightforward but informative, and she's great at engaging students. The practice exams were similar to the actual exams, and the course is weighted well so your grade isn't entirely dependent on exams + you get to drop one of them.
Supportive mom energy in the best possible way.
Second class with San Souci. Majority of the class got an A. She is very caring about the student success and wants you to attend class (offered candy on halloween). As for tests, looking over the content was great! I recommend watching the lectures at some point because I struggled on the first exam without them.
Super sweet!
San Souci is great professor. The format for PSC 041 is super streamlined and the learning expectations are very straightforward. She's very nice and cares about her students. The grade in class was determined by Exam scores, reading the online textbook, and top hat responses. Overall pretty easy class, great presentation.
The professor is very chill and sometimes likes to tell jokes and stories. Lectures are pretty long but often we finish before the class ends. Grades are very exam-heavy but exams aren't too difficult as long you pay attention in lecture and read the textbook. Overall I would recommend taking this class with her.
One of the best profs I've had. Makes the course outline straightforward so you know exactly what to expect. Grades are based on exams but they aren't too difficult since she does a good job at explaining the material during lecture. She also gives a lot of grace periods for assignment due dates which is a plus.
Great Professor, Reasonable Exams, plenty of study materials provided.
Very nice and easy class with this professor. I will admit, though, that lectures were quite boring. The class is clearly intended to be for freshmen with minimal science background, not upperclassmen with extensive scientific experience. Exams were easy - take notes in lecture, watch the videos, read the textbook, and make a good notecard.
Super sweet and understanding, lectures were pretty boring. It can be really hard to get in touch with her via email however.
Her energy and passion for the class really radiates in lectures. That is rare. She is always down to talk about anything and is more than happy to reexplain. Although as someone who likes structure, she was always late to class and in Canvas. Don't worry if you attend lectures, ask questions, and have good notes you'll be good.
Priscilla San Souci is a great professor who makes the course material engaging and accessible. While the lectures can be a bit scattered at times, the practice exams and study aids like unstuck AI are super helpful for acing the class. As long as you stay on top of the readings and assignments, you'll do well.
She's a kind professor but I personally never go to class (b/c she rambles and makes me cringle ngl) + only rely on the study guides for exams. we are allowed a 4x6 index card which is very useful + no curve on midterms but she drops your lowest midterm + final is optional. This is a very out of sight out of mind class that you WILL pass.
I wish she was my Mom.
She's just the sweetest person ever, she's good as well. Although classes are 2 hours, she does a really good job covering information. I enjoyed it a lot and enjoyed her personality even more!!
Good professor
i love her, easy A, optional lectures (you should go anyways she's funny)
SHE IS MY INOFFICIAL MOM
She's great professor, is easy get A in class
She is really amazing giving lectures, she's optimistic and she's willing to work with you if needed. Her exams are pretty straightforward, just follow along in class and you'll be fine. Really loved her class!
very good and sweet
Lots of material covered in class but generally easy to comprehend. She teaches in a way that's easy to understand. three midterms and a final, one of which can be dropped. loved having her as a professor:)
One of the best professors I've ever had so far. She's very welcoming and understanding of her students. The way she organized this course allowed us to have flexibility with our time and you will for sure pass this class if you follow the study guide. Take her if you can, she's one of the rare professors that genuinely care for their students.
Professor San Souci is a very sweet lady. Her lectures are very easy to follow and her midterms are straightforward if you take more time to read the textbook. She has a lot of things going for her life personally and will sometimes not respond to emails so show her a little grace. Overall, she is solid and it is exciting to take this course! :)
Honestly, I never want to take another psychology class again, but that isn't really the fault of the professor. She actually lectures quite well and is very understanding of student's suffering. If you must take a psychology class, I would recommend that you take her's.
Really great class, I learned a lot and the teacher was very helpful in teaching and helping me understand tough concepts.
i love her. very understanding and humorous. a lot of information to learn in the course but it was all good with her
Amazing professor. You are only really graded by 4 tests, in which the lowest scored one gets dropped. She lets you bring a flashcard, gives you a study guide that tells you EVERYTHING that will be on there, and the test is also multiple choice. Lectures not recorded but she is very engaging and caring.
Super nice and really caring!! I loved her class, her notes were well organized and easy to understand. Her exams and grading were all very reasonable as well. I love the jokes she makes during class, it really lightens up the mood during the 9am lectures. Def would take her again love her!!
One of my absolute favorite professors, I couldn't recommend taking ANY class with her enough. Always kept lectures interesting and was always so willing to help students outside of class. Workload was very manageable.
love her!! super accommodating and passionate. I thought the content was pretty straightforward and grading is lenient. definitely the best professor to take for this class
The best professor ever!! If I could take a class with the same professor over and over again, it would be her. She prepares you so well for the exams, her study guides are awesome and her lectures are very clearly understood.
She is an amazing women
Although lecture topics are slightly boring, she tries making them interesting and always answered questions before, during, and after class. She wrote letters of recommendation for people and encouraged people to come to office hours to talk to her about whatever. Class was easy and I never really studied because the tests were open-note/textbook.
Priscilla is a great professor! Her lectures aren't mandatory to attend, but she explains topics easily so I would recommend showing up! Tests are quite easy too, many topics overlap with each other. My only complaint was that it was difficult to reach her. Many people had similar issues, so you may want to go in person for any questions.
I'm not used to taking classes that have memorization and applying conceptual things so I did struggle in this class a bit. San Souci isn't too bad but she tends to over-explain her material. And you really need to do good on the exams and assignments because the amount of points for each question might impact your score. TopHap and quizzes are ok.
Creates analogies that are so ridiculous. I love her shes so funny. do take 100%.
Manageable workload—quizzes, TopHat questions, and other miscellaneous assignments. Four exams and an optional final; they were online canvas quizzes you could take whenever (BUT she mentioned this wasn't normally the case). Lectures could get a bit boring, and she has a voice that could put you to SLEEP. She's funny tho and has so much mom energy
Gives amazing mom energy. Workload was pretty easy and material wasn't too difficult to grasp. I didn't take stats before this class, but I still did well. TAKE HER!!!!
My favorite professor in psych department. Take her without doubt !!!
Genuinely a very caring professor who makes the class feel comfortable. Her grading is reasonable and there is always an optional final. Though if you are trying to reach her out of class you may not get a response back. Other than that the class is pretty straightforward.
Super easy content, with online midterms and optional final. Not easy to reach, never answered one of my emails in both this psych and PSC001. Doesn't always seem like she has a plan and is late to make announcements but it doesn't matter cause this class is easy. No homework expect tophat!
Best professor in psychology department!!!
This women is my saving grace. The class was an easy A. We had 3 midterms and an optional final which were all online canvas quizzes. I went to most of the lectures and she's so engaging. She is cheerful, funny and happy to answer questions. I highly recommend.
thank you san souhchi
I love Professor San Souci! Attendance is not required (which is a godsend for a 9AM) and all of her lectures are posted. Her exams are based on most of the stuff she teaches in the lectures as well, PLUS she allows a 4x6 flashcard for each exam, so the class was pretty easy! She's also very sweet and an interesting lecturer.
San Souci is just amazing! I loved her lectures, even if they were longer as she's just hysterical and wants you to understand in a way that makes sense to you. With the 5 midterms, they can be graded a bit harshly and are very nit-picky. But as you learn the material you will see that there is a reason. She's incredible, take her if you can please
i want her to be my mother
Super easy classes with her. She's incredibly kind and understanding. Rambles in class sometimes, though.
Awesome professor who clearly cares about her students. She's amazing at explaining topics thoroughly and is a great teacher (unlike most professors). Not a hard class- 4 in person midterms and a final but lowest score is dropped. Definitely recommend this class.
she is literally awesome, if you go to class and study/watch lecture it is the easiest class I have ever had. I LEARNED! but it was very easy.
The only reason she is not getting a 5 is bc she is an incredibly slow grader with lots of help (many TAs) but she still takes forever to grade the stuff. like rn she took canvas off the shell but no one known their grade.
Super easy class. Lectures are long and early, but attendance was not mandatory. 4 midterms total, 3 in person 1 online, optional online final. One exam dropped. Easy assignments, tophat questions sent after class to answer. SONA research, 6 credits, 5 online, 1 in person or you can write a paper for the in person credit.
She was a good professor + her lectures were interesting but it was difficult to know expectations bc of how differently she and the TAs would grade. Grades were also often released late but the final was optional and online which was nice i guess.
Dr. San Souci was great! Super straightforward expectations and genuinely wants her students to succeed. Watch the lectures, keep up with the assignments, fill out the provided study guides, and make a good notecard (if she offers one), and you will do just fine!
Professor is amazing and understanding. Includes 3 part paper project, exams, quizzes, and small reading assignments. Some TA's were hard graders on papers. Note card can be used for exams and study guide offered. Lectures recorded + interesting and attendance not required. Exams are a little difficult so study. Taking professor in another course.
GOOD VERY GOOD AMAZING 100/10
Very nice and clearly cares about her students. Midterms are online and open-note. Very easy class and no homework. Textbook is mandatory, however you don't need to thoroughly read it. Use the study guide as you read along because there are many sections that you can skip! Overall, I enjoyed her class and would love to have her again.
Seriously, the best professor ever! All tests are open note and very easy! Get the research requirement done early, and then you have basically no work the whole quarter.
Sweetest professor ever! I would take her again and again. Assignments are pretty easy and you are given tons of time to complete them. She had some personal tragedies happen this quarter and still kept us updated. She cares so much and she makes lectures fun! Absolutely recommend PSC 185 and her! She has my heart!
Priscilla is the best professor I have had at UC Davis. PSC 001 is not a very difficult course, but she made each lecture extremely engaging, and I walked away from each class with a lot of new knowledge on Psychology. Also, the expectations were very clear and the Canvas page was organized so that I never had any questions on what I needed to do.
Priscilla was genuinely the BEST professor I've taken so far at UC Davis. Quizzes + exams were all open note and textbook. TopHat questions were easy. Only 3/4 exams were put into the gradebook, meaning that the optional is final as long as you took exams 1-3. Just REALLY make sure you finish your SONA research requirement as early as possible.
The professor is super nice. She has good lectures and her tests are pretty straightforward.
Professor San Souci is such a great professor I've met! She is humorous and also very kind to answer all of my questions after class! There are three midterms with one optional final exam which all are open book, if you read the slides and study it will be an easy A+! Def would take her class again
Not much to say other than she's an amazing professor. Her lectures are engaging, and her class is very easy (consists of 4 open-book exams with only the highest 3 scores counted in your grade). I'd highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in this course.
This class is extremely engaging and easy! The professor clearly enjoys the subject, and will give you a lot of useful information that is applicable to real life. This class had an optional final, and exams are short but thorough. She cares a lot for her students, and will adjust course requirements to ensure students are not overwhelmed.
Her lectures and supplemental videos are all you need to do well in her class. She provides a list of topics you should understand for each exam. Very understanding of students and moved exams to online when our class was in an unconventional setting. Great lecturer and amazing professor.
Spectacular professor, Priscilla was funny, understanding, passionate and very good at teaching the material. The class covers a lot of content but the tests are open note and she drops the lowest grade and there's no homework at all. Overall a super fun and easy class.
