Does not explain or even teach anything. Can't understand her and doesn't go over material, just rambles about "examples". You have to teach yourself. Waste of a class and tuition.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN! She literally mumbles to herself in an accent you will never understand. Going to class is absolutely pointless! She only attempts to read powerpoint. It is a good class to do homework in because that is the only useful way to spend your time. You need to read the textbook to teach yourself in order to pass.
Dr. Skeete is one of the best professors Ive had! She provides examples and makes sure the class understands material before moving on. She encourages the class to participate and is very caring and helpful. Definitely recommend!
A great professor that is passionate about the material and makes it clear that she cares about each student. Some may find her accent difficult to understand but I never saw anyone having trouble with it. Macroeconomics is fairly difficult by nature to understand and she doesn't allow cheat sheets for easy As so be prepared to study.
She is a very good overall professor. She is well versed in her subject-area. She is compassionate and really enjoy what she is teaching. Always available to answer any questions that you have.
Dr. Prosper was an amazing professor! While attendance wasn't mandatory, going to class will make her class a lot easier. She does a great job providing simple examples for difficult concepts. Dr. Prosper always expressed how much she wanted everyone to do well and is more than willing to work with you to do well in her class. Don't forget to read
Dr. Skeete is my favorite professor so far at UNCW. She is extremely approachable and caring. It is a good choice to go to class bc she gives credit for participation. She always wanted to know how we were doing and if certain due dates worked for us. It was very evident that she cared about our wellbeing.
Professor Skeet is a very passionate and innovative teacher of Macroeconomics. You could always tell that she cared for her student's wellbeing and was willing to be flexible with due dates on assignments. Definitely good to show up to class not only for the potential extra credit but the Tests were a lot of what she talks about during lecture.
Dr. Skeete is one of the best professors I've had at my years at UNCW. She sincerely knows what she's talking about, and makes active efforts to engage her students with every lecture. She's compassionate and energetic and as long as you apply yourself in her course you should be completely fine.
She was a very good and helpful professor. However this class is very information dense so if you miss class or don't pay attention you could be a little lost. Overall good teacher ever though hard tests even when you prepare diligently.
Dr. Skeete keeps you engaged and interested in the material, by applying real life circumstances to each concept. She will gladly repeat certain topics if you are struggling, and runs through homework assignments to ensure that a full understanding was obtained. I always looked forward to her classes as Dr. Skeete was always full of energy.
Professor Skeete is an outstanding professor, who truly tries to build a working relationship with her students. She is very caring and does everything she can to accommodate each student and their needs. Don't be deterred by her thick accent, as if you dial in and listen to what she says you can learn a lot. Participation is key and communicate!
Dr. Skeete is a wonderful professor that truly cares about her students in regard to learning and passing the class. She simply wants to see students succeed by gaining new perspectives from peers. This is a class that you are required to speak up, but you will see it is a welcoming and positive environment. READ THE BOOK it helps TONS on HW & test
Very good professor who gives a reasonable amount of work but will be more than happy to help you and answer any questions.
Online classes are usually a little more difficult due to the fact that you kind of have to teach yourself the material but she made things simple. She asked that everyone participate in the online lectures, however, if you were not able to because of work, etc. she made every single lecture available at all times. I loved this.
Online classes are usually a little more difficult due to the fact that you kind of have to teach yourself but Prof. Skeete definitely made things simple and easy to follow along with. She asked that everyone participate in the online lectures, however, if you were not available because of work, etc. she made every lecture available at all times.
Prof. Skeete definitely made things simple and easy to follow along with especially because sometimes online classes can get a bit confusing. She asked that everyone participate in the online lectures, however, if you were not available because of work, etc. she made every lecture available at all times. She also made the lectures enthusiastic.
Had for ECN 222 also, definitely the worst professor I have had in the business school. Does not explain things clearly and all homeworks and tests are from the textbook, so if you are going to take her class invest in the book. Get ready to basically teach yourself the content.
Gives out a section to read almost every class. READ IT. Seriously. If you don't read you wont be prepared for class and you'll get behind and have to try even harder. I had her Spring 2020 and she adapted quickly to teaching Virtually, with np. Overall, she's a great person who wants you to be your best and understand how important ECN is
Had a great semester. It was a fast tracked 1-month course over the summer and the lectures were clear. Pay attention to her questions as they sometimes end up on tests.
Great professor that is very funny and easy to follow. Her assignments are very straight forward however there are very few. She gives only 2 excused absences a semester to just be sure to show up and youll easily pass the class.
Professor Bangwayo-Skeete is a professor that truly wants her students to do well. This class was not an easy A for me, but if you show up and put in some work, you will do really well! She wants to help students out in any way she can, you just need to ask for it!
Goes through slide shows way too fast, for some reason most of the stuff she covers is not what you get asked on the homework. An easy class, just taught in an extremely frustrating manner
Dr. Skeete seems like she has good intentions but is all over the place during her lectures, I had to teach myself the material to get an A! Stay away for macro.
She worked hard to make sure we understood the material while creating an engaging learning environment.
Easy if you do the work. HW and textbook on Cengage. Extremely friendly and wants you to succeed. Teaching style is lectures.
Really good professor, will work with you on anything if need be. If you show up to class and do the homework the exams are easy. She does great reviews before each exam and made ECN222 easier than ECN221. I would take her again, plus gives extra credit.
Dr. Skeete is a wonderful professor who truly cares about her students. She wants to make sure everyone fully understands the material and goes out of her way to help the class. Having the textbook is useful, as homework and test questions can often come directly from it! If you study regularly and attend class, you'll do good in the course.
She is very confusing and difficult to follow along with in lectures. I study everyday outside of class so I can get a good grade, her ratings make 0 sense as every other student in my class feels the same way I do. Theres a chance she is self rating because she is not a great professor and I will never take her class again
I am currently in ECN 222 with Dr. Bangwayo-Skeete, she is hard to understand due to her accent (not that everyone minds) and personally, I have trouble staying engaged. Besides that she randomly takes attendance and is a very slow grader, I am still waiting to get my test back from 4 weeks ago....
Super unorganized. If you want to learn anything in this class be prepared to teach yourself. She's friendly but extremely frustrating because it seems like she barely knows the material herself. Frequently need to correct her or debate subjects with her in class. Run out of class time everyday. Takes over 2 weeks to get test scores back.
Professor Skeete is very nice but she only reads slide shows and shows very few examples. There have been times when she has been corrected by her students and the classroom reflects the way she teaches. The class is never at full attendance because many recognize it as a waste of time. Some days it gets loud because no one listens to her.
Dr. Skeete is a nice person and gives extra credit, but has no idea what is going on in her class. She is not organized at all and changes her mind a lot. She never answers emails and took her literally 4 weeks to grade one of our test. Lastly, she wanted us to give her a thumbs up on the course evaluation for extra credit....does not seem right.
She is a nice professor, and I believe she has good intentions. Though, she is not a good professor. The exams take nearly a month to get back to us, and she does not even give them to us on the day that she says she will. She debates a lot with students even if she's wrong. And class is just basically slide show reading. The class goes overtime.
You can get through the class with a decent grade, but you will not understand a thing I promise you. Super nice woman with great intentions and she wants you to do well and will help you if you ask.... but the class is all over the place and it is very hard to understand the lectures.
Dr. Skeete is difficult to understand and the class does not pay attention. She gets just as confused as the rest of the class is when she tries to explain something, I will never sign up for her class again
She is the kindest professor I ever had, she helped me as a international student to understand some points of the subjct that I was having trouble with.
can never answer students questions. very hard to understand her lectures.
Dr. Skeete was a very nice and caring teacher! Whenever I had an issue or was confused on something in class, I knew that I could always walk up to her after class and get help or clarification. She laid out what the exams were going to be based off of and stuck to that. Early stages of class are super important, and take advantage of extra credit.
Professor Skeete was a great teacher, and even though some lectures felt long, she was always willing to help students outside of class whenever they needed it. Even if you don't do well on test she gives a lot of extra credit that will bring your grade up significantly. Textbook was online and had one homework assignment due just about every week.
Dr.Skeete was awful at explaining and would ask a lot of rhetorical questions. She loved to argue/correct students when they gave correct answers. She would explain what she thought were correct answers, which paralleled what her students had just said. If you do not recite the textbook word for word, YOU ARE WRONG.
Dr. Skeete is a patient and kind professor. She tries her best to make sure you're understanding the material, and will go out of her way to sit with you and review. She's also very supportive and understanding in terms of being aware of how things come up outside of school. She's great, take her. I got an A in the class.
Skeete is pretty cool. She truly cares and wants you to do your best. Attendance is mandatory and you do Kahoots in class that if you participate you get extra credit. You need to buy the textbook to do online work every week. Exams are not bad.
Excellent professor. Fair grading and interesting lectures.
Professor Skeete brings a world view to economics that is inspirational. Her lectures and power points are just the beginning for understanding the content. Reading the text and doing the assignments are a must. By the time you get to the "Kahoot" reviews you will know what you still have to study for the test. I enjoyed her class.
I loved Dr. Skeete! She cares about her students and wants to see them do well in her class. She is very understanding and offers extra credit. If you do bad on your exam she will ask you to meet with her and go over the exam to help you understand where you messed up. I recommend taking her class.
Exams were multiple choice but I would still try to really study. Gives extra credit. Class can be a little boring sometimes but it's pretty easy. Homework was on cengage. Go to class and days where you have Kahoots for extra credit
Good professor overall, the basic things you need to pass the class are taking notes on the slides and the textbook, asking questions, and doing the test-preps. The homework is somewhat hard but use your notes and the textbook and you will be fine. Also, make sure you are there when she does the Kahoots cause its extra points on your test.
Dr. Skeete is a great professor and she makes class fun and engaging. she is always willing to help students and communicate with them. she is very knowledgeable and facilitates good conversations in class. it is highly recommended to read the textbook
Professor Skeete is an amazing professor and an even better person. She uses a good mix of lectures and group assignments to facilitate proper learning of the material. Willing to work with students and very caring/understanding. 10/10 recommend if you want a professor with a great attitude and is enjoyable to be in class with.
Very great teacher that really is sympathetic and cares about their students. 10/10 would take again!
It was a great class. I learned a lot of things. The lecture was easy to understand. Lots of extra credits.
She is the best professor I have had at UNCW. She genuinely cares for her students and their success. All test material can be found in the lecture slides and she gives tons of extra credit if you show up to class. TAKE HER!!
One of the best professors I've had at UNCW. She's passionate about the topic and she cares about her students. By doing your homework and paying attention in lectures you should do very well in this class. Attendance is not mandatory, but it adds bonus points at the end of the semester. She gives you tons of opportunities for extra credit too!
Dr. Skeete is far and away one of my favorite professors at UNCW. She is very dedicated towards helping her students learn the material. Additionally, her lectures are very engaging and interactive. She is very kind and has a great personality and a great attitude towards teaching. I would absolutely recommend to take her Macroeconomics class!
Dr. Skeete's class was a highlight in my academic journey, and I am immensely grateful for the impact she had on my experience in UNCW. Her dynamic teaching style, coupled with dedication to teaching and genuine care for students, makes her an outstanding professor. I highly recommend her courses to anyone seeking an insightful academic experience.
Professor Skeete is a an incredible teacher and she really cares about her students. 10/10 - I would take again and definitely recommend go to her class. Her class is a mix of lectures and group work which facilitates our learning and also helps us not have to do a lot at home. If you attend class and participate, you will truly have a good grade!
Awesome professor. She is very passionate about the subject and explains in a way which is understandable. She is also responsive and works with students to make sure they succeed.
Professor Skeete is the sweetest person ever. She cares so much about her students. Her class is not bad if you pay attention and take a lot of notes, as it is very lecture-heavy. I would def recommend taking her!
Shes is one of the best! You dont have to worry about failing the class. She gives out extra credit like it's candy on Halloween. One test I scored a 70 and with all of the extra credit (that is extremely easy to earn) the score jumped to a 105. Very nice lady!
This is easily the most boring class I have ever taken. She does not know what she's talking about at all and there have been multiple times when somebody asks her a question and she literally just does not answer. If you want to learn anything about econ at all take someone else, I couldn't tell you a thing we've learned in this class so far.
Dr. Skeete is lovely. I have taken her for 2 classes at UNCW and got an A in both classes. She gives out so much extra credit you will NOT fail unless you don't turn in the minimal work required. She gave me +5 points on the final exam for good attendance... I missed weeks worth of classes... She is amazing!
My favorite professor I have had at UNCW. She cares about you, tries to give extra credit, and wants you to succeed. If you go to class and pay attention, you will do great! Make sure to do the study guides and the exams will be easy! Definitely take her if you have the chance!
I genuinely have NO idea how she has this good of ratings. She does not know what she's talking about, frequently ignored student questions in class, misspelled things on homework all the time and treated us like we were elementary schoolers when we were taking exams. Don't take this class if you want to actually learn econ, bc she doesn't know it.
If you go to class and read the book you will pass with an A. She gives out a lot of extra credit throughout the semester and take advantage of every opportunity. As long as you show up to class and try you will end the class with a good grade. She's the most understanding teacher at UNCW!
Dr. Skeete is a wonderful professor. I took her course online this summer, and I really enjoyed it. She was accessible outside class when I needed help, and she really wanted her students to succeed, her enthusiasm in her lectures translated to me being enthusiastic about economics. For a summer class, the workload was very manageable.
The bad: Lectures are drawn out, could be completed in half the time, won't properly address students questions, thick accent, homework is nothing like you will see on exams (hw is much harder). The good: All materials are online so if you found her class as boring and uneeded as I did you dont have to go, the tests are fairly easy.
Professor Skeete really made this reading class enjoyable. Constant checking up on work and an excellent guidance through the course really made me enjoy her class. The exams were very doable and because of the amount of tests at home a good preparation was automatic.
She is a really smart professor who really cares about her students in and outside of the classroom. She taught macroeconomics which is a hard topic, in an engaging way students would understand. She is understanding of students and is a great professor and person. I would absolutely take this class again.
cannot recommend, its very hard to listen to her as her english is not great and she jumps back and forth from random things during her lecture. cengage is also required and around $160 for the semester and you won't really learn anything with it but homework is on that. she also gives additional worksheets in class in addition to cengage.
I was nervous about taking this class initially because I am not much of a Finance person, however Dr. Skeete has done a great job throughout the semester explaining the concepts thoroughly. She has always been available for anything I may need and it really feels like she is a professor who cares. I am glad I didnt end up backing out of the course
Great person, not the best teacher. She is so sweet but her teaching style is super hard to follow and honestly more confusing than just reading the notes yourself. Ended up having to teach myself most of the class and the tests were only around 33 questions so missing only a few caused many people to do poorly.
Bad reviews should be mindful of their authors, who aren't great at working with people different from themselves. Dr. Skeete takes time to make sure each student is doing well. I believe she brings a cool perspective to international economics. Overall, she has developed a class that works best with motivated, engaged students.
Dr. Skeete is a caring professor who connects with students through humor and creates a positive class environment. She offers extra credit, matches your final exam score with your lowest test grade (if higher), and drops the lowest homework grade. However, tests are in person and not open note. I did not try and got a B. She wants students to pass
Professor Skeete is super nice as a person, but her class was so hard to sit through. It was genuinely one of the most boring lecture-based classes I have ever taken, and the lecture could be completed in half the time. However, every class you miss does reduce your attendance grade, so you have to go. Tests were pretty easy though!
Professor Skeete is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students and their success. She will do whatever she can to make sure you understand and enjoy the class/material. She is very understanding if you just reach out to her. She makes class interesting and is very engaging.
Dr. Skeete is a great professor who cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She is accommodating and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. The exams are easy to study for since she provides a study guide that goes over all the material covered on the exam. Overall, She's an understanding professor and a great person.
Professor Skeete is one of the best at UNCW. Her lectures are easy to follow, all lectures are posted on Canvas, she allows students to earn extra credit through Kahoot games, and she is very passionate about what she teaches. She helps students inside and outside the classroom and cares for her students' future. I highly recommend Dr. Skeete.
Great class! If you are struggling with some concepts, she is always available to help
Professor Skeete was seriously and amazing professor. she truly cared about the students and wanted us to all do well with the material. She had us play Kahoot for extra credit for our exams. she also was aware of how the class was performing on the material and would alter the schedule or exam material. i would highly suggest to take her class!
Super sweet woman, she does truly care about her students. Her exams are super fair and her class is easy if you pay attention close and do your homework.
Super fun professor and keeps the lectures very interesting to follow. Tests are easy as long as you pay attention and do the homework. Highly recommend.
She teaches well, but you have to be fully present in class to understand.
Dr. Skeete truly cares about her students. She offers ways to improve your grade like extra credit, re-doing homework, and having a final replace the lowest test grade. She is a great professor to get to know on a deeper level to help your academic and professional development. I had a great time taking her course and would recommend her!
Truly cares about her students and will meet with them about te
She really cares about her students always makes lectures fun and involved. If you don't do well on a test she will meet with you and help you learn! Take her if you can!!!
I love this woman. She is bright and funny, which makes the classes interesting. She cares about you and your grade, and is very easy to access outside of class. Econ would have been awful to learn without her and her lectures.
This professor was an absolute joy. She is one of the most inspirational and nicest professors you will meet and learn from. I understand that some people may have difficulty; however, if you give the class a chance and put in the effort, you can learn a lot from the lectures. Just ensure you are taking a lot of notes, she is super open to emails.
Insanely boring. Talks during class about absolutely nothing related for most of it. Has an accent that can be hard to understand anything. Literally will talk about nothing for half the class, lectures could be half as long. Exams are weighed light and final can replace a grade so easy to do well in. Attendance is graded. Be ready to teach urself.
She is so sweet and really wants students to succeed. She gives a study guide and a bunch of practice problems to help prepare you for exams which is so nice. She weighs your grade very fairly and makes it so easy to do well in the class. Some lectures are a little boring, but I think it is hard to make some topics in econ interesting!
I had trouble paying attention in some of the lectures but she is a great professor. She likes to chit chat with the class and expects responses when she asks questions. She does care about her students and their success. The lecture materials are posted but attendance is important. There's also not a lot of work outside class
She was good. There were times she might unintentionally rage bait you in the beginning with how she will answer your questions, but you get used her style. She draws things on the which is helpful for graphs. She does Kahoot before the exam for 1 bonus pt. Final exam not cumulative. Homework is helpful for exam and drop hw grade. Attendance counts
Dr. Skeete was a pleasure to take ECN-222 (Principles of Macroeconomics) with! She has a very eager personality and is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. She doesn't allow formula sheets for exams but she doesn't overwhelm you with too many at a time and she gives extra credit on the exams via participation and bonus questions.
Professor Skeete is such caring and creditable person! I enjoyed her energy and enthusiasm so much. The class was a newer one and it was structured differently than any of my other classes and kind of hard to follow. If you do not enjoy semester-long projects and data analysis, then do not take this class.
Dr. Skeete wants students to get good grades. Her explanations can get confusing, but if you follow the slides, you'll be fine. Study guides that tell you exactly what's on the test and all the answers are on the PowerPoints she posts. The homework is on MindTap and there's an occasional worksheet. Her class is straight forward and she's awesome.
