If you want a professor that knows here stuff, is extremely helpful, openminded, and very intelligent, take her! She's one of the few professors I've run across that truly loves to teach!

She's tought, but in a good way. Also, makes a boring subject an interesting class.

Most fun instructure, most articulate instructor, high comprehension skills and if you have a philosophy that learning should be fun, this is the ideal instructor. I am saying all this positive stuff about her despite the fact that she is going to bring my president honor roll status and lower my GPA. So you can infer that I am being objective.

Tough class. She makes you earn your grade. If you are lazy, this is not the class for you. Never had a problem getting papers back. After it was all over I think I learned something. Most of the classes I have taken do not challenge me like this one did. Took her for Amer lit and World lit. She is funny and makes the class interesting.

This teacher is extreamely touch on grading papers. The ironic part is, she tells you EXACTLY what she wants you to fix, and unless you sit down and talk with her during her office hours and explicitly ask what's wrong, you might not get it. English Comp II was a joke after her class.

I took her for Prose and Poetry and as a Creative Writing teacher she was awesome. She gives you plenty of opportunities to write and share your work. She hands out tons of useless papers and notices which just gets annoying because it clutters your folder. She's an interesting person and great to learn from when it comes to Creative Writing.

Yeah, she's hard, but she's good. She will prepare you for writing for the rest of your life. Relish every moment. She will make you laugh and sometimes make you cry but do not be afraid of her.

She is an amazing professor! She is harsh in her grading, but that's a good thing right? I mean, that is what teachers are meant to do! Help you become a better writer! She has an awesome sense of humor... She makes English fun!

Literally half the class dropped out. The course requires some work from the english department. Professor P was a wonderful teacher. She gave clarity to what we were doing. She has a good sense of humor as well.

Taking her class will really prepare you for future writing assignments - you'll be a better writer for having toughed it out. She's not "easy," but Arceneaux is fair and is willing to help in any way that she can if you just ask her. She's also more willing to help those that actually come to class and make an effort to participate.

Coming from someone who was never a writer or intersted in Brit Lit, Arceneaux kept my attention and made it fun. Best teacher Ive had at ACC. She is organized, smart and witty. If youre looking to wing it, this class is not for you an you will fail. She grades tough, and she pushes you to do good. Which in my opinion is what a good teacher is.

I have to admit she is really tough when grading your papers. but I can honestly say she'll make you a better writer thats for sure. She's got an amazing sense of humor, very sarcastic and you probably wouldn't like her if you're easily offended. As long as you show up and actually dedicate the time.. you will pass.

Take this class if you love English and want to transfer to a University. Arceneaux is dedicated to helping you work on becoming a better writer. Use the syllabus as your bible for the class and keep the lines of communication open. She doesn't make a big deal if you miss class, but the information that you miss could cost you a letter grade.

HONESTLY. I was capable of getting an A. im sure you can! all you have to do is the work! thats all, YOU have to communicate with her, YOU seek her! we are all adults here,...TAKE HER YOU WONT REGRET if you are studious! The more you write the better the grade I promise! So if you love to write TAke HER!:)

Awesome lectures. She's very entertaining and I loved it. Not a fan of the grading system. You will find yourself cursing to yourself because she won't accept your papers, but I guess it will make you a better writer. If you try, and you're on top of your stuff, you will do well. Procrastinate, you're screwed

You will come away having learnt alot. Really great proff but not the easiest. Its basically vital you do the extra credit to pass which is annoying but its good she offers it. As far as the proff goes shes approachable, funny, informative, and open to ideas. she loves what she does and it shows.

She grades the papers according to the grade you say you want in the beginning; if you want an A, your paper has to be perfect. Do not expect ANY English class to be an easy A.

Her classes are a lot of fun; she has an awesome entertaining way of giving lectures. She becomes animated and tells stories as she teaches. She is FULL of knowledge. I like her a lot I would take her again.

Excellent professor! Don't get me wrong, her class is extremely difficult, but I came away having learned a lot. DO NOT procrastinate with revisions or you are screwed. I'd definitely recommend her, but don't take her class if you're looking for an easy A.

All of her lectures are presented in a fun and interesting way, if you take her class chances are she'll make you laugh. The essays can be challenging, but, if you pay attention to the notes she leaves and do NOT procrastinate you'll be fine. P.S. Barbie lovers beware ;)

She is a very intelligent professor, I do not enjoy English, but I enjoyed her class. She teaches very well. If you don't do well in Mrs. A's class it's because you put off your work. Be puntual with turning in your work and you will make an A!

If you listen to songs like "Black and Yellow," this is not the right class for you! Because her style of teaching is like comparing a meaningful song to the previous one. As most students look for an easy A, Ms. A wants to make sure you really deserve an A before you get it. Take her class to evaluate your English skills and see where you at.

Excellent professor for students who really want to learn. You cannot blow off this class. You cannot cheat this class or professor. Its either you're all in or you will fail her class. This professor can tell if you threw the paper together at the last minute. She's extremely intelligent about the subject matter. She's funny and engages everyone.

This teacher is tough but she's excellent. The class is so much easier if you just follow her instructions. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!! Leave yourself plenty of time to get the papers in, because she is a stickler with revisions and makes sure that the paper is perfect before she accepts it. She's very intelligent and funny, and her class is not boring!

Anybody can make an A in this class, it's very easy to. The only reason I failed is because I procrastinated. Just follow the very simple instructions, fix the problems on your paper like it's a checklist, and BAM, you're done. If you tend to put things off to the last minute though, you WILL NOT do well.

This class isn't hard to at least get by with on a "B". She offers so much extra credit that if you just do the extra credit you can pick your grade up by a Letter grade. Class environment is great and her lectures are stimulating.

The revisions are simple if you follow the directions she gives you on your paper. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Super easy if you get everything done on time.

Ms. Arceneaux was awesome! I definitely feel like I'm a better writer because of her; she introduced me to the semicolon. You have to work hard to get the A but isn't that the way it's supposed to be? Don't take her if you're lazy; only take her if you care about expanding your writing abilities and becoming a more intelligent person in general.

I personally love how she conducts the class. She gives you the syllabus at the start of the year and then follows it with only the occasional date change (always back to give more time). she knows what she is looking for and will have you revise until you get there but its not hard to do if you just ask her about it.

She gives out plenty of extra credit which you'll NEED because of her harsh grading. Know your MLA well. Read and highlight because there are random quizzes. Her course is very time consuming. My semester included physics and calculus and her course took up just as much time. Also, she doesn't use digital resources so avoid if you prefer them.

Structure of the class was difficult, but Ms. A was the best prof ive ever had. Took time to help me with outside projects as well as my inclass work and made me very confident in my writing. Again, class structure was tough if you don't meet deadlines, but shes lenient. If you plan to advance your writing, she is the one. Dont look at her score!!!

Arceneaux is an excellent professor that makes Comp 1 enjoyable. She's by no means easy, but you WILL be a better writer after her course. All you have to do is stay on top of your papers, and don't procrastinate. If you follow her schedule, and listen to her feedback for editing, you will become a better writer and will get an A. Funny too!!

She helped me develop my writing skills. I loved going to class and hearing her lectures. Having someone who has passion about teaching makes you bring your A game.

Professor Arceneaux's 1301 class will prepare you for not only writing for your time at ACC but for University and beyond. If you do the work assigned, you will have no trouble doing well in her class. She is very helpful and approachable. Her feedback will guide you towards a better paper.

Ignore the reviews about how hard this class is, etc. (Or at least note the poor spelling and grammar. Coincidence?) Assignments for ENGL 1301 are mandated by ACC. They are the same across the board, for any professor. But this one is especially dedicated, helpful, and gives interesting lectures. Do your work. Get it in on time. You'll do fine.

Profe A is great, she gives clear guidance on how to succeed and if you have trouble she's there for you . As long as you ask . Very approachable even when she's swamped with all the papers she has to grade.

Honestly, she was one of my favorite professors last semester. Her lectures are so interesting, I never wanted to miss class. She's a tough grader, but as long as you read the assigned materials and participate in class you should do well in the course. She also offers loads of really cool extra credit! I recommend her to all of my classmates.

I'm a Txst student and I thought this class would be a blow off, however it turned into one of my favor classes and I've always hated english classes. Professor Arceneaux uses a socratic teaching method so if you can't think independently then it might be hard to pass (as you can tell from other reviews). But if you try you will pass with ease.

The class discussed many interesting issues & concepts. The professor has clear explanations and allows plenty of time for questions. She expects refined and well-developed essays and homework (not an easy A but doable). I would recommend this class if you are looking to develop your analytic and writing skills!

Seriously she is the best professor I have ever had. Her class is not an easy A, you have to work for it! Do extra credit and follow Her advise and you will be fine. By far my favorite class to go to! She made lectures extremely fun and always gave you a good laugh. She gives you clear instructions on every paper and expects you to follow them. She's very helpful when it comes to questions and advice. She is a hard grader but let's you know exactly what needs to be done in order to fix your paper.

The lectures are cool, but her grading scale is terrible. No matter how hard you try or how good of writer you might be,the problem is she is very picky. Don't take this course if your trying to get an A or B average it's not worth it. You'll be revising papers for days. Other than that she has a cool personality she's just a tough grader.

In all honesty I absolutely LOVE her as a professor. Her lectures are hilarious and entertaining. Every negative comment on here was written by lazy students. She's a PROFESSOR she is there to TEACH and PUSH you. If you're lazy, don't take her. If you want to improve your writing skills then she IS the best option. Arceneaux is the real English MVP

She's a great teacher, but you have to be willing to learn. This is not an easy A but it is well worth your time. I though this was a great class but again if your looking for a class you can zone out in this isn't it because she is a REAL teacher. Professor A is a tough grader and will make you revise quite a bit. Her lectures are interesting though and sometimes funny.

Be prepared for class & participate. Fun, but NOT an easy. EXPECT REVISIONS, she's a very picky grader. Start research paper immediately, do not wait for 3rd assignment. Test early bc deadlines are final. Everything needs to point back to how it effects audience: themes, methods, tone, etc. She's always at campus to ask questions. Loved this class!

Professor Arceneaux is a brilliant professor but very difficult. I mistakenly took her for an eight-week and couldn't handle it so I had to withdraw- as lots of others did. She's very nit-picky on the essays and discourages you from thinking or presenting information in a way she doesn't like. I was really sad when I left, it was my favorite class.

Shes wonderful to say the least. Lots of extra credit and if you do them all it will bump you a letter grade for sure. Inspirational and classes are more like book clubs than lectures, it was a nice change of pace against other literature courses.

She is available and ready to help, answers most questions quickly via email or addresses them in class if needed. Professor A is a tough grader but she won't give you false information. What is in the syllabus is what she wants and expects.

She is a great professor! The readings are not long at all. We do have lots of papers but they can be done in a day. She does grade tougher than others but she is just making you a better writer. This is one of my only classes I have taken where I have learned so much! Everyone on here is just complaining because they don't want to work hard.

Awesome professor. Lectures are great she treats everyone like an adult. Yes, there is a lot of work, but that just means no free handouts. I feel like I became a better critical thinker after taking her class. Extra credit is given throughout the course. Sometimes it just includes attending an event.

She's hilarious and my favorite professor yet. There is a fair amount of reading, but everything is reviewed in class which helps for the essays that are assigned. If you miss a day in class, expect to have a tougher time. If you provide evidence, there are multiple answers to every prompt. Don't take this course if you don't want to put in effort.

One of the best classes I've taken! We read from some very significant ancient texts and had wonderful discussions in class relating these texts to their time periods and their audience, their role in the world today, etc. You will have light reading to prepare for lectures, and will have graded papers. This class will make you a better person.

Professor Arceneaux is awesome! Yes, she is a tough grader and yes, she makes you work for your grade, but she's very thorough in explaining each topic/paper. I can honestly say that the class was hard, but she drilled the concepts so well into my mind that I felt confident going in to take my exam. I would mostly definitely take her again.

I must have written a total of 90 pages of analysis for this class, but I wouldn't trade my experience for anything less! EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Her lectures are TRULY amazing, I gained a whole new perspective on important issues in this class! You will WRITE! You will READ! Pop quizzes if low participation. Did I say you'll read and write? PREPARE!

Let me be clear, we are talking about a college level class, so as a usual this kind the classes shouldn't be easy. Don't try to be funny or asking a bunch of the silly questions. Her personality is amazing, but remember don't cross the line. She is so tough on grading, but remember what you learn in her class stay with you forever.

She enjoys her job and she is good at it. 10/10 would take again. Take this class if you are trying to expand your perspective, not if you want an easy grade, or you think teachers are there to "liberalize" you.

More than fair and willing to help a student as much as they are willing to help themselves. Will work with a student as long as necessary so they can succeed. You will put in the work, but she will give you guidance and the student specific problem solving you need to be in order to get the grade you deserve. Would easily take another class.

I took her class and I enjoyed it. On the very first paper she allows you to say what grade you want in the course. She will grade your papers accordingly, however there is no way to track your actual grade. She allowed every student one late pass on a paper, and extra credit options. use late passes wisely.

take advantage of extra credit b/c in the end it will help you. TOUGH GRADER! learn your MLA format by HEART. Go to class take notes b/c then it helps out when writing an essay. CRITICALTHINKING IS A MUST. HARDEST class I've taken (coming from an ALL A's student for 3 semester now) The grade I'm most proud of till this moment.

Professor A kicks ass. The statments about how she is irrational couldnt be further from the truth. She makes you think and apparently people have a problem with that even though thats the purpose of school. She is also great at explaining key elements of the selections. Grading is tough but it undoubtedly makes you a better writer

Prof. Arceneaux is an impassioned, dedicated teacher. She clearly loves her work. That being said, she's a very tough grader. She gives a large amount of work in a short period, making it difficult to continually produce acceptable work. She gives a ton of extra credit, though. If you want a good grade, put in the effort, and be prepared to work.

I took a six-week World Lit: 17th Cent. summer course with her. She works hard to get things back to you ASAP and she gives thoughtful feedback (which is rare in a short course). An A is hard to get, but I like to think that the purpose of college is to get you to understand that not everything is going to be perfect. So grow up & don't miss out (:

Great professor. If you want a challenge and to learn, take her class. Participation in class is imperative and will help you with more than just writing. The point of her class is to help you find your own way. This is a critical thinking class, you wont find this anywhere else at ACC. She'll hell you develop the tools you need to succeed.

I finally found an awesome English professor I failed English 1301 5 times, finally passed with her as my professor, shes late to class so she doesn't mind if you are, which our time class was 6 pm with Austin traffic. English was not my strong suit, I'm a stem major and always hated writing papers. The work is hard but it challenged me .

I took her for a creative writing class, and shes probably one of my favorite professors ever. She gives good critiques on your work that helps teach you to improve your writing. Very open and nonjudgemental, she made me comfortable enough to speak up in class which trust me, is pretty much impossible. Overall it was a very enjoyable class!

She doesn't make this an easy class, participation is key to fully understand what she wants you to take from this class. She is very knowledgeable so take advantage of that, pay attention to due dates and communicate effectively with her. I have never taken so much from an English class in all my years of learning!

Miss A is amazing! By far my favorite professor! Her lectures are very entertaining, as well as educational. The class consists of writing four papers, and reviewing a few essays in class. She gives great feedback to develop your writing and help you pass the mandatory department exam. Also, she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities!

Very fair+expects attendance, turning in lots work regularly you get back regularly w/commentary & helpful suggestions. My class WANTED to attend & she rewards that. I really enjoyed the lectures, but the writing was a bit demoralizing for me. I've been writing a while & in most classes I do well w/ essays. Not this class. I had a hard time figuring out what she wanted so for revisions my work always fell short. I could never break into a B which was depressing. It's also pandemic central though, so... *shrugs*

Professor Arceneaux was honestly the toughest teacher I have ever had. When I got my first Test back and had a 50 on it I lost all confidence in my ability to write. My next assignments were not much better. After I stopped feeling sorry for myself and actually implemented the suggestions, my grades improved. You will have to work hard.
