lectures are very sparatic and off topic.
good teacher, lectures are made fun

Pay attn to lectures-he goes fast! Read mat'l this will help you follow lectures. Willing to meet and discuss, very helpful.
Very hard, but gets better since he uses a curve. A big curve.
He is the best teacher, he will help you any way you need help. He is pretty hard, but he knows his stuff!!! He has been through a lot in the world of Psych, and he is one of smartest people I know
His lectures are really interesting and EXTREMELY fast but don't be afraid to ask him to repeat something, he is super nice. And he uses a curve...which is good if there are no geniuses in his class.
Very fun and enthusiastic, lots of neat stories, and just a generally cool guy. Be sure to take lots of notes, though, and read the book.

tells the same stories over and over, boring lectures, not clear on assignments

Dr. Taylor is a cool guy. Relaxed and easy going...he isnt the most energetic professor and sits in his chair most of the time, but his class is pretty easy and gives a big curve, and extra credit.

Great teacher. Very fun and interesting.
dr. taylor was probably my favorite teacher my freshman year! i highly recommend him!

Brilliant man whom I fully respect!!
Awesome class. He is very intelligent and presents excellent lectures.
Very intelligent, but all he talks about is sexual assualt, wastful lecture time, exams impossible and not over material covered in class and random**** he makes up, however very relaxed and many classes canceled. Curved our exam 20%
good sotries to tell
Dr. Taylor is a great teacher, his tests are impossible but he helps you out by curving. Highly recommend him, everyone should take at least one class from him! His stories are great and often disturbing in the same token! WONDERFUL TEACHER!
This guy must have a constant headache from all of the information in his head. Lectures are very interesting.Tests are a bear but gives huge curve.Read the material and you will do fine. Gives extra credit when large number of people miss class, so goe.
He has many stories to tell about****and sexual assault, however, his lectures do not cover much of the material that is on the test. His tests are almost impossible to get an A on before the curve. The good thing about him is he sets an extremely helpful curve for both the midterm and the final.
not clear in what he wants.
His tests are SO hard and unpredictable. He doesn't make it clear what to study for the test, so its extremely hard to do well without the curve. Reading the text helps when studying. He is, however, extremely knowledgable in his field and has tons of weird psych. stories. It keeps the class entertaining...sometimes.
Tests were insane but curve was so high they were impossible to fail. Attend every class and read the text and you'll get an A no problem.
Unclear on what he wanted on a paper that was 50% of our grade, never got the grade back to us on the paper, his tests were difficult, unclear, and the final did not follow university policy.
I went into the class wanting to actually learn something. This has been the WORST class I've taken. Everyday he would lecture and we only had two grades. A midterm (40%) and final (60%). The exams were so hard. He curved about 30-40% and no one failed. Take this class if you want an easy "C", but I would have liked to have learned more than sex an
Tests are unreasonably hard, partially because they cover books that he's written aside from the regular psych text (LOTS of reading). Lectures are boring and off topic, and usually no help when taking the exam. He's very nice and knows what he's talking about, but I recommend finding a different professor for this class.

Dr. Taylor was incredibly knowledgeable about a lot of material. Lectures were interesting and he had a lot of stories that kept your attention. However, he tended to lecture on material that is not in the main text. You will have to buy 3 books, 2 of which he wrote himself, so if you plan on BSing through the class, thats not gonna happen! HARD TE
i think dr. taylor is an amazing teacher, i learned so much in his class. yes his class is based on two grades, but if you pay attention you will do fine, for those of you who like to slack, sucks for you b/c you will probably take another teacher and regret it, dr. taylor is AMAZING!
Dr. Taylor is a phenomenal teacher. You get out of his class what you put in. Be prepared to work hard on the case study and take home mid term and final. If you work hard, you will do fine. He is very open to questions. It's not an easy class, but it is extremely interesting. I learned alot!
He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He is unclear what is on his test, and his tests are impossible. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He curves, but I still ended up with a C.
Aweful teacher, and completely unconcerned with problems and questions a student mat have. The class grade is based off a midterm test and final test and we never even saw our grade for our final test. This made the grades seem arbitrarily made up. I suggest taking a different teacher.
Dr. Taylor is a very interesting man and likes stories about sex even if it isn't pertinent to class discussion. You will hear many odd stories, and he's a pretty nice guy, but his tests are quite difficult. You MUST read the text for his exams! Honors also had a single-spaced research paper which felt impossible even though I started early!
Avoid this class! His tests are confusing, extremely hard and always produce low scores. He doesn't answer emails about grades. He doesn't end up curving the course that much either. It almost feels like luck of the draw where your grade is concerned
all he talks about is sex offenders
This class was awful. The textbooks are useless and you only have to buy them because he wrote them. Seems unethical...
He is a useless teacher. He didnt care about teaching insteas all he cared about were his sex offenders. He lectured off of his powerpoints and yelled when we wanted to go back a slide, but his slides were hard to understand. Only 2 test and they were very hard.
I thought the class time would get boring. All you do is copy his powerpoints, but if you re-read your notes for the exams, you easily pass. plus he curves Big time. No one gets below a C. Another good note: you can pass w/out the book!
Fast notes but really good explanations
Taylor was very interesting but he would go on useless rants about the profile of sex offenders and****stats and stuff like that and none of that was on his tests. There were only two tests, no homework, no extra credit. He curves like crazy, no one got less than a C but he kinda has too
He no longer does the curve!! Watch out, he will talk your ear off in class about stuff that you will never remember for the exams. 3 exams equal final grade.
Crazy and likes to talk about sex a lot, but very funny at times. But i dont know who posted about he doesn't curve. He curves like crazy!!! we got 20 points added to each exam. But have to know material for exam.
taylor talks 100 miles an hour- bring a laptop if you plan on taking notes. tests are HARD but he adds 20 pts to each test, so a C becomes an A. Taylor gave me a C when I was supposed to have an A and it took me 4 visits to his office to get it straightened out. I would not take a class from him again.
Dr. Taylor is one of the best professor's at the UC. He is a great Professor and very knowledge. He is what you expect a teacher of higher learning to be. The students that gave Dr. Taylor a poor rating haven't yet accepted that they are in college and not HS anymore. College is meant to be difficult, not wasy thus the term "higher learning"
As a 3rd year, he's probably the worst teacher I've had at UC. His idea of teaching is to read off of powerpoint slides for the entire class time with no pauses for breaths or anything. His tests are incredibly unpredictable and expects you to memorize statistics which is completely pointless. If at all possible avoid taking any of his classes.
very good
Excellent professor he makes you work but it's well worth it in the end when you walk away with knowledge in Psych. He's easy to talk to and always willing to answer questions. I highly recommend taking him.
He goes through notes way to fast and exams are hard but there is always a big curve. Has a lot of funny stories. Overall, he is a good professor
Dr. Taylor is an awesome professor! He's sometimes very hard to get a hold of and takes forever to email back. His class is great though! Very interesting stories to keep people engaged. He does go through slides fast, but they're posted after the chapter is finished. Grades on a huge curve. Definitely suggest taking this class!!
Dr. Taylor is a great professor. He keeps class interesting with his great stories about his experience as a psychologist. His stories help with the learning because they relate to the topics he is teaching.
Dr. Taylor is and AMAZING Professor he always tells stories and even jokes around at times. My friends and I have had him for 101 and 102 and we wish he taught 103. Plus if that is enough to love him he gives BIG curves on his exams, basically he tries to minimize the number of failing people. Plus he only gives 3 exams and drops the lowest one.
Professor Taylor is an excellent teacher. He does a great job of relating the material to students through modern examples and stories. It's worth going to class just to hear his stories. There are 3 challenging exams but he curves a lot and drops the lowest grade.
Had him for Abnormal Psychology- You could tell he'd really been there, that he really worked with these individuals. Told lots of stories and although he wasn't 100% clear in lecture, he was really interesting.
Class set up is ridiculous. His lectures have nothing to do with what you need to learn just what he likes to teach. Tests are worded awful and cover nothing from lectures. He has some good stories but that's it. So if you take him don't bother going to class just read your book and take the test.
He obviously knows what he's talking about, and it really is great having a class about sex offenders being taught by someone who works with them for a living. However, to me, he comes across as being highly arrogant. Whenever he opens the floor for discussion, it is short lived because he shoots students down. Very easy grader though.
Has good stories and is a great professor, however, going to class is useless because his lectures have nothing to do with what is on the test. Just read the chapters, and know them well, and you'll do good.
Lectures are tangential and the ppts dense. Most of the material in the test is NEVER covered in lecture or the chapters! Taylor doesn't test over the material he teaches. Instead, students score poorly and he curves around 15 points per exam. The only grades in this class are three exams. Take it only if you are a good multiple choice test taker.
I had him for everything... Abnormal, Sex Offenders, I worked in his research lab, and he was my thesis mentor. Great man, knows a lot! Eager to teach and easy to approach
Extremely interesting lectures. I absolutely loved his class. His examples are very interesting and they help you understand certain things. The book is very important to read if you want to get an A. If you read the book you should do fine but that combined with attending class is a for sure for a great grade.
I had Dr. Taylor for Abnormal Psych. His lectures were very interesting and he used a ton of examples from his practice. His exams were very hard, but he always curved a ton, and definitely made it easy to get a good grade in the class.
He was the best professor I've ever had. I look forward to his class every day, his exams are easy and to make it even better he curves so you get 100%. He's very funny and you learn a lot. Best professor by far. His stories will stay with me forever.
The teacher seams to lean towards being a little ****s in his statistics. He repeats stats that point to caucasians and quickly glosses over stats and points that pertain to other races. Speaks very softly. Runs through notes very quickly and when asked to go back a slide he does for less than 5 seconds. Do not need to attend class..read book
Great teacher. He is very passionate about his job. Has a lot of good stories to go with the lecture. Easy multiple choice tests
i love professor taylor! he has he best stories; i cannot believe how many things he has done in his life. just make sure you don't try to take notes by hand, his slides go really fast and your fingers will hurt. ha! overall, a fun, interesting, and easy class.
Read the book for tests and you will be fine. Go to class just to hear his stories
I had Taylor for 101 and currently have him again for 102. 101 was by far the easiest class I have ever taken, the class powerpoints are not really on the test and it's all book. Plus the TA has a review session right before the test and practically reads the test to you.
Favorite professor I've had so far. I went to class just to hear his stories. If you go to the SI review session before the test, the TA gives you all the answers to the exam. I definitely recommend him.
i took his understanding the sex offender class and omg, i loved it! He has a office in downtown where he works with sex ofenders. The man graduated from the FBI academy and was a forensic psychologist for them! I literally got upset if i had to miss a video in class because they were so interesting!
I found this class uninteresting and I really dislike how he runs through the powerpoints and you try to catch up but sometimes don't always make it..and they aren't posted online. His TA was the worst part, she had the WORST attitude and got mad when people tried to ask her to do her job.
The professor knows what he is talking about, but he does not pay attention to the class. He lets the TA's run everything but giving notes and it messes up all the grading. TA=horrible. Bring a camera or you will never get all the notes & they are not put up online. He is a nice guy, but the class makes me want to scream.
I had Dr. Taylor for Abnormal Psychology, and it was a very interesting class. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but I would go just to hear him tie the lecture points together as well as tell various stories based on his experiences. He curves the exams so you will probably do better than you think. Great class, I will definitely take him again.
Taylor was awesome. I took abnormal psych with him this past fall. His stories are amazing and his experiences are astonishing. Class wasn't mandatory but went just for the stories. One TA was really cool, the other was rude and not helpful. Large curve but exams were not a walk in the park. If you like the class you will do well.
Great teacher, he keeps class interesting covers the necessary material at a good rate. If you study the book and your notes you will ace the tests. He drops your lowest test grade making it very easy to get the grade that you want.
I took his Abnormal Psychology spring quarter as an elective because I have taken course with him before and liked him. Very interesting material - especially paired with his experience and stories. The class is not difficult to do well in. I did not even buy the book because I did not for his classes in the past. I went to the TA reviews instead
Dr.Taylor is an amazing professor, his stories really give you such great grasp on what he is trying to teach you.He is clear in what he expects,he doesnt put notes on BB so you actually have to attend class to get the, which I agree with...I would say bring a computer to type because he can be fast and some powerpoints have alot of information.
I had mixed feelings about him at first, but he turned out to be a really good teacher. His stories actually have something to do with what you're learning and are interesting. BRING A COMPUTER to take notes, you'll miss stuff otherwise and he doesn't put notes online. I did a once over of every chapter and kept up with notes and ended up with an A
Dr. Taylor was my professor for a class about sex offenders, and ladies and gentleman, this man is the best teacher on the campus. He relates the material extremely well to his real life experiences, trust me he's had a lot. The exams are not too difficult and he drops the lowest score. He moves through presentations quickly so a laptop is advised.
Dr. Taylor is one of the best teachers on this campus!!!! I am in his abnormal psych class and I love it. His stories are soo interesting and he is funny. He does call people out sometimes but it is funny to hear their responses. You will take a lot of notes. Set aside at least 3 hours to study for his test! Easy class and very interesting
Dr. Taylor is awesome! Going to class isn't mandatory, but definitely go to class just to hear his stories. He really loves the material he teaches, and does a great job relating it to the students. This was by far my favorite class fall semester.
Your grade is based entirely on 2/3 exams, so if you do well your first two exams then you can skip class for the rest of the time and not take the final. Class isn't mandatory, but go and sometimes he makes some questions for his exams obvious and his stories are worth hearing to go to class for. He curves the exams b/c most people don't do well.
He is a great Professor. His stories relate to class. Attendance isn't mandatory but going to class is worth it.
Horrible teacher. He talks at you rather than teaches. Nice man, but very boring. He prefers to talk about his practice rather than the class. The TA's are also terrible. I recommend taking this class with a different teacher.
Very interesting and knowledgeable professor. He has tons of experience and stories to tell which makes the class very intriguing... but his exams are incredibly hard. There were questions that weren't covered in the notes or the text, and I attended every class and read all the text.
Great guy, semi-good teacher. Knows his stuff and its awesome to hear his stories, but he goes fast through the notes which is my only complaint. Tests are difficult even if you take notes. Overall, the course isn't awful but its challenging.
Awesome guy, great professor, fabulous class. He's really knowledgeable about the material and has TONS of interesting case studies to talk about. The class is VERY fast paced and notes (powerpoints) are not posted online. You will need a computer to take notes, for sure, but it's totally worth it.
I really loved this teacher. He has a lot of experience in the field and has a lot of interesting stories he can tell you about the people he treats in his clinic. The tests are difficult, but I was able to get an A in the class without the textbook. All of the tests were on Blackboard. Too bad this is his last semester at UC.
Attendance is not graded on but if you want to do well in this class you HAVE to attend. He doesn't put up PPs on BB. A lot of his test info is on these PPs. The actual test is very difficult because of how its worded, even if you studied the chaps several times over. Bring a computer, writing is impossible- he goes VERY quickly. He curves well.
