Pushpa is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is extremely helpful outside of class, she has powerpoint slides with everything you need to know, take all the practice quizzes and you will do fine.
Pushpa, is the best professor i have ever had. She is extremely helpful and i really enjoyed going to her class and lab! She was fun and it was a very easy class to get a good grade in as long as you tried a litte! I would definately recommend her for Chem 182 and 192...Best Prof EVER!
This was a hard class, but when I struggled, Pushpa would stop the lecture until I understood. She did that for everyone. Once everyone understood, she would continue. If you put in the effort, you should see the grade you like. She gives helpful practice tests and is always willing to answer any questions. One of the best professors I have had.
Pushpa is the best prof I ever had. CHEM 182 and 192 is equivalent to CHEM 143 in MSU. I tried first in MSU and did not like. I enjoyed Pushpa's lecture as well as lab. You can find her in LSARC during her office hours and tutor hours. I highly recommend her!
she's really good. she makes sure you understand everything. welcomes questions, really wants to help you. doesn't make you fell dumb no matter what you ask. take her.
Pushpa is by far the best instructor I've had at LCC, she takes as much time as the students need, teaching on their level of understanding verses her own schedule. She works hard to prepare students for quizzes/exams,and makes her expectations clear. And her powerpoints are lovely and SO organized!
One of the best Chemistry professors ever. I love her to death and she is so helpful. She does have a small language barrier but if you can get past that, you'll get your moneys worth with her. She's amazing!!!
LOVE HER!!!! SERIOUSLY THE BEST (CAN'T STRESS IT ENOUGH) TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! SHE MADE A HARD SUBJECT ENJOYABLE, I WISH SHE TAUGHT ALL CLASSES AT LCC....AMAZING PERSON, SHE REALLY WANTS TO SEE YOU DO WELL IN CLASS! I DO NOT THINK I WOULD HAVE DONE WELL WITH ANOTHER PROF! PICK HER AND YOU WILL DO WELL IN CLASS!
BEST teacher I have had at LCC yet!!! She made org chemistry very interesting and easy to learn. She is extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. I would recommend her to everyone that has to take this course.
She's amazing. She works very hard to prepare materials and a lecture that makes Chemistry very easy to learn, and you will ACTUALLY LEARN. I had a terrible Chem prof for most this semester, she subbed for it, and even without much preparation, she was INFINITELY better than the other professor. Love her so much.
She prepares you REALLY REALLY REALLY well for all the exams. If you are awake in class you should do fine. She gives pre-lab help for all the pre-lab questions which make the class very easy to learn from. And she's REALLY friendly. She subbed for my Chem 151 course and was 1000xbetter than my other teacher.
I was struggling with the Chemistry Lecture course, so I figured the lab would be just as difficult. She bended over backwards for me. I love her teaching style. She is gifted. And she proves she cares for her students.
Pushpa is the golden model of what a teacher should be! I did not have her for lecture and was struggling. She went out of her way to help me. If you put in the effort, she will be right there in your corner rooting for you the whole time. There is no way I would have made it through my chem151 without her extra assistance. Thank You Pushpa!
Pushpa is the best teacher ever, seriously! I took her class 2 years ago, and I still go to her to explain things. When asking a question she knows exactly what you're asking, and knows the perfect way to expain it to you. She will make sure you understand. WONDERFUL TEACHER AND PERSON!
GREATEST TEACHER EVER!! extremely helpful and understanding! well prepared teacher! i struggled passing chemistry classes and had to take more than once for same course. but i only took this course once with her and passed it at the first time! :D
Pushpa is really the greatest professor. I had to take a chem lab a semester after taking the lecture course and had pretty much forgotten most of the material, but she never failed to review the lecture material before doing a lab. She clearly demonstrates each lab and is there to help when you need her. I highly recommend taking her courses
Great Teacher. Highly Recommended!
Pushpa is awesome!I had Chem 182&192 with her this fall (Fall 2010) and she is the best teacher I have ever had! This class is relatively easy BECAUSE Pushpa is good at explaining the material in a way that students can actually learn and is always there to help if needed. I'm an MSU student and I'm so happy I took this class at LCC with Pushpa!
Pushpa is fantastic! She really wants her students to learn and enjoy organic chemistry. I actually found it challenging and super fun! Another great thing about Pushpa is that she really understands that her students need flexibility. She is rigid about turning things in, but wants you to get the points so she'll work with you.
I had Pushpa for both Chem 182 & 192, and she is great! Her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. The material is NOT easy, however she makes it enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Pushpa was the BEST professor I have had in 7 years of college, MSU and LCC.
Pushpa is the best professor ever....though she has Indian accent, her English is very understandable and clear. She helps me with both my 161 and 151 chem classes...totally recommend her!!
The best professor I've ever had! Was so helpful with everything. Her lectures are crystal clear and as long as you attend class and pay attention you will 4.0 the class. Would recommend her to anyone!
Best teacher I have had yet at LCC. She is willing to help you out and makes sure everyone is understanding the material. I would not get the text book unless you are struggling though because her notes and attending lectures is all you need to 4.0 the class.
Pushpa is the best chemistry teacher at LCC, if not the best teacher at LCC. She is extremely helpful. You have plenty of practice material to prepare you for the exams to succeed in the class. She is willing to help and wants students to understand and to make it easy for them. She has taught every single chemistry lecture and lab LCC has.
Pushpa was one of the best instructors I have ever had. She seriously went above and beyond what any other professor would do. This class is not an easy one, and she made sure that she did everything possible to help you pass.
Pushpa is a very knowledgeable professor, gives thorough lectures and visual examples. This course is difficult, and the new Mastering chem makes it harder; but she will try to help you through...if you can hang in! My favorite attribute is her humble nature :)
chem is soooooooo hard. She made it bareable, but it was still a hard course. Overall, she is super knowledgeable and will go out of her way to help you! A+ to her!
Pushpa is a great instructor who cares about learning, but attendance is mandatory: she gives out participation points included in the final grade. Plus, you NEED to come to lecture to understand the material. Orgo is not a class you can skip and then expect to do well, even intro Orgo. However, Pushpa is always willing to help a student in need!
I would definitely recommend taking Chemistry with Pushpa, she's helpful, approachable and CLEAR about the subject matter!
Pushpa is very thorough. I had the chem 161 lab with her and she is in class an hour early each time. You can come in early if you have questions and she will make sure you understand the concept and have the correct answers. Next semester I am going to take her lecture course and try to get her for the lab again.
Took chem 151 4 times before taking it with her. I finally passed with her. She does not have office hours which I hate, but she does meet w/ you to go over questions if you come to class early. She gives you a study guide posted on d2l and a in class one before exams. Do those and you'll be fine. Also, no book for the class. Just use her slides.
I had her for both lecture and lab. She was great! Very, very helpful and went over the material thoroughly. Set her class up so it is easy for students to succeed and understand chemistry at the same time. Without a doubt would taker her again.
Professor Pushpa is without a doubt the best educator I have had the privilege of taking a class with. She's clear, and concise, and genuinely wants students to succeed. I would wholeheartedly recommend any classes with her, especially Chemistry 151. If you have any doubts about taking this class with her, Don't! She's the best professor at LCC.
I don't think I can recommend Pushpa highly enough. She truly did care about the students and making sure she succeeded. Chem 152 was a difficult course but she made it passable and she is incredibly understanding after I've lost count of how many lab accidents I've caused.
Pushpa is a really nice professor. She does her best to explain and answer questions in her lectures, and communicates with students very well (email, d2l, etc). She is very clear and overall an excellent teacher. If you have issues with the class material, she is more than willing to help in office hours, before, during, and after class.
At first I was a little apprehensive because of the accent, but she turned out to be the best professor I've ever had. She goes above and beyond to help you understand. She is always available for help and is very thorough during lectures. I would highly recommend taking chemistry with her!
Pushpa gives A LOT of work. Expect to have 1 week to complete all mastering chemistry, 3 pages of take home exam (due before class), 6-7 pages of in-class notes, 4-5 pages of extra worksheets (not graded), 1 quiz every week, and sheets to memorize on top of all of that. Stay on top of your work and you will be fine. Ask questions, get there early.
Dr. Pushpa is one one of the most amazing professors you can ever have in your school life. She is clear in explaining, knows her subject very well, and of course very nice as a person, ever smiling. On your first week with her, you may worry about her accent, but for the next 14 weeks or so, you wouldn't ask for more.
Pushpa is one of the most genuine professors I've had. She truly cares about the success of her students and is always there for help. Even with a different Chem lecture teacher, she gave extra help to succeed in lecture as well as lab. The accent may be a little intimidating, but if you're debating who to take Chem with, take it with her!
Excellent instructor if you have to take CHEM 151 and CHEM 161 lab. I would only recommend this instructor. She wants all of her students to do well, and it shows in her teaching methods and willingness to help after or before class. This is the only professor I have ever written a recommendation for. Excellent professor. The class is hard though.
At first I really liked Pushpa and she was always helpful. However, over halfway through the semester she began to drop a lot of people from the class. If you had miss 3 days of her class or missed the last quiz she dropped you to help make sure that she had a high success rate for her upcoming review. It was very disappointing.
Really helpful teacher, if you need help just ask her. But the course is little harder she can make it look easier
Pushpa is an amazing professor, I took her hybrid class so there was one lecture a week and as long as you attended and kept up on the online homework, you're golden.
Her lectures were very helpful. She creates a note packet, and you fill it out and highlight what you want. The homework load was actually pretty easy, but you've got to remember the quizzes that are due online. She is really helpful, and responds pretty quick to emails.
Pushpa's great, I took her in high school for dual enrollment chem. I definitely wouldn't recommend her if you haven't previously taken a chem class, she can explain things pretty fast. She was very helpful and offers extra credit, but does assign a lot of homework.
If you are not confident in Chemistry this is the way to go. I took 125 in the summer and got a 1.5 When I took it with Pushpa I got a 3.5. She really really cares about her students and is great at explaining things. Just an all around GREAT Professor. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
She is the most helpful Professor I have ever had. She really wants her students to do well and goes above and beyond. She gives 3 practice for each exam and they are pretty much the same as the test. You can earn up to 30 extra points on the HW. If you are to take this difficult course take it with Pushpa and you'll be fine
Professor Pushpa wants to get you through general chem. She is very clear about what she expects from day one. Her teaching style was great for me, she works through a not packet each day and expects you to be working alongside her. There are 7 exams total, 5 regular and a 2 part final, chem lab online hw and d2l quizzes weekly. Take chem with her!
she's a really good teacher, she really makes sure that you understand the material while she's teaching. chemistry is hard, but she makes time for students that really need help. she also posts all the notes and reviews for the tests for studying, and you NEED to study. i'd definitely recommend taking her.
I am taking this teacher now and she is great! I have already took 2 exams and did great on both of them and one of them was suppose to be the hardest exam of the semester! The way she sets up her lectures are so helpful and really make me learn the material.
Does everything she can to help her students, very accessible via email and office hours. Posts all lecture notes AND extra lecture videos online which are helpful to look back on since this is a hybrid class that only meets once a week. Very clear about grading on tests and practice test questions are almost identical to the actual exam. 10/10!
Dr. Pushpa's goal is student learning and success. She is always there to help you with whatever questions you have to make sure you really understand the material. She never makes you feel stupid or incompetent for not knowing the material. Her class has always been a positive environment, I go home almost every day saying "I love my chem teacher."
She is an amazing teacher! I tried to take chemistry at a different school and dropped it after 2 weeks, but taking chemistry here felt very easy. I am more a biology person so taking chemistry scared me and I thought I would do awful. She makes her lectures so you will learn the material and tries to make sure everybody will pass. Great teacher!!
This teacher is probably one of the best teachers i have had. The subject is difficult, but she gives students a lot of opportunities to do well. She is straight forward about what we need to know and gives an amazing amount of optional practice work to help us get more comfortable with the material. I would take her for every class if i could!
Dr. Pushpa is great! She is very nice and really cares about her students. She's very helpful and gives good feedback if you're struggling with something. She grades very well and gives lots of partial credit. Strongly recommend!
I had different professors for Chem 151 and Chem 161 and she was the most helpful. What wasn't explained clearly in 151, she explained easily. Overall, she was an amazing teacher and I regret not having her for Chem 151.
The best professor I have had. I am not even a fan of chem but she honestly helped me make sense of the subject. She is so willing to help in any way she can.
Dr. Puspha is the best Chemistry professor at LCC. I took her for Chem 151 and 251 and she's by far the best and by no means I'm good at chemistry. Her lectures are really nice and she explains everything so clearly, you have homework every week, extra credit, her exams & quizzes are easy IF YOU ACTUALLY STUDY her notes before hand.
I really enjoyed class with Dr. Pushpa! I have always struggled with chemistry, but she made it so simple! She always found ways to encourage me even when things got really tough! The subject is definitely a difficult, but if you have to take the class... I recommend you take the class with her. She is understanding and willing to help you succeed.
I found this class to be super exciting and fun to attend, even though it was at 8:40 in the morning. Pushpa always makes things interesting and makes you think about things in a different way. She will often give you tips on your calculations before you turn in your lab report, so you get as many points as possible. Highly recommend her for lab!
Dr Pushpa is amazing! I always hated chem but not anymore. She covers the material so well and always makes sure to remind you she is happy to help as long as you ask. I took her for both 151/161 which was even more helpful. Throughout the lectures she lets you know what the exam questions will look like and gives you plenty of prep material too
Dr. Pushpa made this tough class easier and fun. I never took chem in HS but she is very good at explaining the content. If you ever need help do not hesitate to email or meet up with her. If you have ever struggled with chem, take this class with her! I hated chem but now I love it. Make sure you sign up for her lab as well! Amazing teacher!
I cannot say enough great things about Pushpa! She is the kindest professor Ive taken a class with and she always is willing to help out if youre struggling. She has many practice problems and exams to look over to prepare for exams. Though the material is difficult, she makes sure you have all you need to succeed in this class. 10/10!
I had her for lecture and lab. Amazing professor. She made a bunch of lecture videos for us to watch and it was very helpful. Always helped me when I had trouble with a problem.
She's a great professor. Although she goes through a lot of material during class, she'll give resources to students so they can revise on their own. There are no surprises, what you learn in class is what will be in the exams. She gives detailed notes as well.
Pushpa has been one of the best online professors I have had. She has videos to go along with all the content and video notes made. there is a quiz a week, and 5 exams including the final. The exams are really impactful on your grade so make sure you study.
Pushpa was finally able to help me understand chemistry after embarrassingly failing it online. The teacher and setting do make a world of difference.
Dr. Puspha is a sweet, understanding professor. In lecture, she has her notes and you would listen to the videos for each chapter and follow along. Then there is a quiz for a chapter and those notes will be helpful. For lab, you would write down the procedure and then do a quiz before you start lab class. Make sure to study the notes for the tests.
Amazing professor who truly cares. Yes, it can be a difficult class and lab. But if you put in the work there is no reason why you shouldn't get a 4.0 for both CHEM 151 & 161. She is so funny and I had such a great time in her classes this semester.
Dr. Pushpa is very understanding and easy to talk to. If there are reasons why you can not make certain deadlines or need to submit something you were not able to, talking to Dr. Pushpa helps so much and is very willing to work something out with you. She just really wants to see you succeed.
Pushpa was a very sweet professor from what I could gather from an online course. The lectures weren't super clear so other people explained the concepts to me. I took HS chemistry during COVID so I had to catch up on what I missed in that plus learn all of the new information. Not an easy class but a decent professor.
Dr. Pushpa is hands down on one of the best professors at LCC. During lab, she gives thorough instructions and key information for you pre-lab quizzes. She is very patient and will take time to help you if you are struggling with the lab experiment. Attendance is definitely mandatory and you can only have 1 lab experiment grade dropped.
Dr. Pushpa is excellent - I wouldn't have wanted any other prof for lab. She is clear in her prelab lectures, tells you what will be on the prelab quizzes, and will answer all of your questions/look over your lab report before you turn it in if you ask. She is very caring and will do everything that she can to help you succeed. Highly recommend!
Online course has 2 tries on quizzes, first try tells u what u got wrong. Each chapter has videos for it & a note guide to follow , and then practice tests are given to practice ( not required to do them) hw is on a website easy to access. however, if you have a hard time understanding concepts please take class in person. online is just videos fr.
Super sweet and fun to take. Can be diffucult to understand her at times though. Very energetic and on top of everything in class. She helped make amazing foundations in chemistry for my career in science.
The lectures are all videos. Quizzes have 2 tries that tell you what you got wrong, so you always get 100%. Chapter and exam reviews offered. Can be difficult. She moves through many topics very quickly and it can be hard to keep up. Also have to memorize tons of equations. It's not too bad if you put the work in, but it is hard if you fall behind.
Such a good professor! I had her for CHEM 151 (online) and the lab (CHEM 161). She's very caring and was quick at answering any questions I had.
Pushpa Padmanabhan was an amazing teacher! Highly recommended!
No clue if shes doing self reviews... But in all honesty she's not great. Her teaching ways are outdated, and the online class struggling. You have too many notes + you're hard to follow along. Ontop of that the videos are horrible. This is an intro to chemistry, and sadly a required credit.. I'm not planning to be a chemist.. key word INTRO
The class average for the online class is concerning, but the in person results are just as concerning. Extremely hard to follow along lecture wise + virtual notes you can't read her handwriting. Her explanations aren't good. Wouldn't recommend her at all, but sadly we don't have a choice (some of us). This does not feel like an intro course.
take in person chem, don't take online its so hard. for the first test the average exam score was 50% and in person is like 70% its not worth it online. the videos are so long and a little outdated hard to follow. if anything take chem 125 intro to chem, then general chemistry which is 151 online bc it is so hard online.
The class is way too difficult, and I'm sure 75% of the people taking her aren't planning on being chemists. This class features outdated videos, a professor that is hard to understand. It honestly feels like being taught by a brick wall. Everything about this course is low quality from the lectures, videos you name it. It's bad.
Agree with the first comment. Not sure whose giving her these 5 star reviews because the quality of this class is not 5 star quality. Any class can be difficult, and this professor makes it 100x difficult with the outdated videos, and chicken scratch handwriting. Half of the people in her class are failing so whose giving her these reviews?
If anyone is planning to take her chem151 online course, do not take it. Her videos is outdated and hard to understand. Mind you, every chapters are somewhat related to one another. If you're lost at some point then you're cooked, it's hard to get back on track. RUN.
Tbh all the bad reviews I've seen of her are people talking about her online class, which yeah obviously its gonna suck, you're taking CHEMISTRY ONLINE! In person -her lectures are really thorough and she's gives clear notes. -tells you what will be on exams fr just do the hw and go to her lectures, do the practice exams, and its an easy A
She stopped telling people the class average after she was receiving honest reviews. Everyone who is giving her positive reviews are just the in person students that are doing well. She got mad when she got heavy criticism when someone compared her lessons to being taught by a brick wall. Stop blaming students and improve yourself, and listen.
Dr Pushpa is a teacher that as long as you do the reviews and know them, you can get an A. I enjoyed taking this class and found it helpful to do the practice tests provided. She will help you out whenever she can and wants to see you succeed.
First day into this class, and I already can see why people think she's a horrible teacher... I'm going to give it a good week and get a feel if not I'm just going to drop. GL everyone cause yikes.
I would definitely recommend to take this class in person rather than online. She's a great teacher who genuinely cares and is easy to contact outside of class. The material is presented in a way that makes it easy to understand, and with enough time and effort, you'll grasp what's being taught. A very considerate professor!
I loved Dr. Pushpa so much. She genuinely cares about your success and well-being. Her lectures are wonderful. She is good at making sure all your questions are answered. She is available for office hours, and provides a lot of ways to receive help. She is the only professor who truly helped me understand chemistry, and have fun doing so! CM151/161
I'm currently taking her with a few of my friends, and as the two people under this stated "The materials presented in a way that makes it easy to understand" is the biggest lie ever. I've grown up with the thickest accents, and can't seem to determine what she's saying. You need to do a lot of personal reading her videos are terrible.
Dr. Pushpa is the best professor I've ever had. She truly wants her students to succeed and rewards hard work. I took her for both lecture and lab and thanks to her well-structured class, I earned a 4.0 in chemistry. If you pay attention and engage in her lectures, you will succeed. I highly recommend her - 10/10!
Wouldn't recommend her online. Not sure but in person, but online her videos are outdated, and she's hard to understand. Videos made no sense.
Dr. Pushpa is a great professor for those who are willing to keep up with the course. She wants to help students, but students have to be willing to help themselves. She is very intelligent and knows what she is teaching, but be wary that if you take her online course you will have to go to a testing center to take the unit tests in person.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class online. The videos aren't great, messy handwriting and not great at explaining. Keep up with the lectures b/c exams are in person. On the good side, she offers exam prep parties for review, gave a lot of extra credit, & curved all my exams at the end to ensure that I would pass- very grateful she did this!!!
Professor Pushpa is great! She has a bit of an accent, but I don't think it was hard to understand. She is always willing to help and try to answer any questions. The tests are hard, about half multiple choice and half math. She gives out a notes packet for each chapter, which is very helpful. The learning commons has practice exams that are good.
She retired, so sad. But I love this women. she is so nice and caring and just amazing human being.
