Liu is very very hard to understand but he has a overall good sense of humor and is an easy grader. His midterm and final exams are all open everything, he literally gives you the exam and you can use your chem book and any lab report you have turned in before. His lab reports are graded pretty strictly and I never got above a 70 on them. easy C+
Dr. Liu is a really nice guy. He is more than fair when it comes to grading if you just follow what he asks. It takes some effort to do well, but very possible if you force yourself to really understand what you are doing, and you learn a lot more by going about it this way.
I literally never have any idea what is going on/what he's saying. It's also at 8am, which make it 10x harder.
These ratings do not do Dr. Liu justice. He is the most helpful professor I have ever had. He is an easy grader on lab reports- just go to office hours and he'll help with ANYTHING! He simplifies the lab a whole lot from what is in the lab manual. Only draw back is his accent which can be hard to understand.
Sometimes he's hard to understand, but he is super nice and always wants to help people.
Probably the worst class I have ever taken. I literally have no idea what is going on. He is very nice and I feel really bad but I can barely understand him and its 8am which makes it even worse. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives you points at the end for attending, there are sometimes pop quizzes. Avoid this class if you can!!
I really like him a lot!! He's a very easy lab report grader and will help a lot with the calculations. He tells you exactly what he wants on the reports so they're much easier to write and you'll do well on them, just print out his instructions. It's hard to understand him sometimes but you get used to it.
Easy lab report grader. Open note pre-lab quizzes and open note final!!! Loved him.
Whoever wrote the last Gsci review is crazy. Liu's the man. 6% is added to your OVERALL GRADE for perfect attendance. Really takes the general in Gsci to heart, sticks to basic concepts. On top of it all he's a really nice guy. Just show up and you'll get an A.
He's very helpful one on one, but I couldn't follow his lectures. He does do a lot of examples in class, which will be helpful for some and not so much for others.
Worst class ever. He is very nice one-on-one but his accent is so thick and he doesn't explain things well at ALL. If you're looking to understand the material and not have to teach yourself everything, then this is not the professor for you
Great lab professor! Accent is difficult to understand sometimes, but does a good job at explaining things in class and during office hours. Grade consists of lab reports, pre-lab quizzes and the final. Nice guy. Great for this lab!
This was the worst class I had ever taken at JMU. He is horrible, rude, and you cannot understand a single word he says. I would have learned more if he taught in Chinese. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Cool guy. He is very helpful with the lab reports during office hours. His prelab quizzes before class are simply right out of the textbook.. That is also the only time you will use the textbook. He is very clear about what he wants on the reports and he goes over the lab, making it simpler, before you do the lab. Highly suggest him.
6% bonus for attendance. Basic and simple concepts. Whatever in the test is from PPT. 4 tests, 4 hw and 1 group presentation, plus,he will drop the worst grade. But he has accent so sometimes what he wants to express is unclear and hard to understand. While he is very helpful during office hours.
At first, I didn't understand Prof. Liu in at all. I came to his office hours and he was happily willing to help and re-explained everything to me. He saw my hard work and SAVED MY SEMESTER. He's an awesome man, just gotta get to know him!
Dr. Lui is great. He really cares that his students do well. Pre-labs are open note before the lab. He explains the pre-lab and the next lab in great detail and makes sure you understand everything before you move on. If you have questions, he pretty much just gives you the answer. He is super sweet and a fair grader. Would take him again.
Dr. Liu is amazing and probably the best CHEM 132 Lab professor at JMU. He's super funny and if you go to his office hours, he'll tell you everything you need to do for your lab report so you can get an A. Every pre-lab quiz and his final are all open note. He also curves your final grade a lot. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
Professor Liu is a really nice guy, hes easy going, just a bit difficult to understand. Read his emails before class and the prelab notes for quizzes which are quite easy. He grades labs easy sometimes, just try to be specific what you write and make sure you write everything that is asked. His labs don't take long. Helpful in office hours.
Dr. Liu is an incredible professor. If you go to his office hours, he is more than willing too help. Going to his office hours will also help you get a good grade on the lab reports. He has very clear grading criteria. Also make sure you study for the prelab quizzes.
Dr. Liu made chemistry lab great! He's such a funny guy and makes jokes if you mess something up. He clearly states all criteria for lab reports and goes over things that people get wrong on each report. More than willing to help in office hours and by using them you can guarantee yourself an easy A. Wish I could have him as my lab prof every year
At first it was hard to understand him but after I got used to his accent, he was awesome. He truly wants you to do well and loves teaching. I would recommend him if you are good with example based learning. Beware that sometimes it is hard to understand him but if you ask him to clarify he will. :)
Dr. Liu is such a sweet person, I loved him! I had him for both lecture and lab. He's very clear about what he asks for with reports, it's not hard to get a good grade. Chemistry lecture was tough. He's hard to understand sometimes and tests are hard, but that's chemistry. He makes you work hard but definitely one of the best professors I've had.
very nice guy and a pretty good professor. There is a bit of a language barrier at first but you get used to & he is more than happy to clarify. Chemistry by nature is a harder class. He gives you lots of opportunities to practice and do well. He gives extra credit too. He really wants you to do well and if you do the work, you will do well.
It is impossible to understand him. He is very knowledagable about the topic and is helpful in office hours though. He can also be rude at times; if you get a bad grade he blames you for not studying enough. Give a TON of work. quizzes for each chapter, but they are group and in class (EASY). Purposefully tries to trick you on test. DO NOT TAKE!
Gives you pre lab quizzes before every lab. They are harder then they have to be and he tries to trick you, but he lets you use the book and notes for them. Lab reports arent too hard, and if you go to office hours hell practically give you the answers. His labs take forever though because he explains every small detail about the lab.
Most helpful guy ever in office hours. Genuinely nice guy and cares about the students. The accent takes a little bit of getting used to but if you're paying attention in lecture you should already know whats going on. Pre-lab quizzes aren't bad if you read before you go.
He's a great guy and a great professor. Not an easy class but you'll really learn the subject well.
Dr. Liu is the bomb. He's super friendly, approachable, and willing to help you out. He gives clear instruction and it's easy to do well if you pay attention and put in effort. Would recommend!
Dr. Liu really cares about the success of his students. His accent can be difficult to understand for the first few classes but it's really not that bad if you just pay attention during class. He holds lots of review sessions and office hours to make the material more manageable and he also gives lots of little tricks to memorize the material.
Going into it I was worried about his accent that I read about on ratemyprofessor but he was so great. By the second week you can understand almost everything. His teaching style is really straightforward. For a chem class this was an easy A. 4 tests and final and he drops your lowest test grade.
Professor Liu is a great guy and is very knowledgeable of the material he's teaching, but can sometimes teach it in a confusing way. I take him for lab, so I usually just take what I learned from lecture and bring it to his class. Without lecture, I would probably be completely lost. Also, he can sometimes harshly grade the post-lab assignments.
Getting used to his accent took a couple sessions but he's great for lab. Easy lab reports that are already made for you and post lab questions that take 30 minutes tops that are due at the start of the next lab. Explains things differently but is a solid professor and is always willing to walk you through the lab if you have any questions.
Q was great. Very friendly, helpful, and approachable. Lab reports are very simple although he can be a tough grader at times. All prelab quizzes and the final are open-note. I plan on taking him again for 132 and I would highly recommend him.
Q was an amazing professor. He genuinely cares about his students and will work with you to help you to understand hard concepts.
Professor Liu is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. I hate to comment on his accent, but it is very strong. I have him for lab and when I ask him questions he either ignores me, or confuses me so much that I can't even answer the question. AVOID professor Liu
chem is hard. q makes it bearable. his accent was hard to understand the first couple classes but then you get it. he's organized and clear about what is going to be on the tests. GREAT Professor. youre still gonna have to study your butt off tho
This class wasn't particularly hard, but it will be if you don't study or take detailed notes during lecture. Q gives you every opportunity to pass by extending deadlines, giving extra time later in the semester for old unfinished assignments and dropping lowest your test grade. Workshops are easy, but print it out and try to do it the night before
After hearing what some of the other CHEM132L professors are like, make sure you get into Q's class. He almost never makes his classes do the full lab or trials listed on the instructions, so 90% of the time, you can leave an hour or more early and have less to do on your lab report. Final is completely open note, but still pretty tough so STUDY.
132 is very challenging and you need to do a lot of work on your own. Attend pass sessions!! Dr Q isn't always the best at explaining concepts and goes too quickly sometimes, but he is so kind and caring. Be a workshop leader, visit his office hours and get to know him because it will pay off! He's generous with dropping grades, curving etc.
Dr. Q is a great professor, his accent is a bit thick so sometimes hard to understand but he is very straight forward and tries to help students understand the content instead of just giving an answer with no explanation. He also curves (:
Best teacher I've ever had in the sciences. I had him for lecture but he was always willing to help me with lab reports. The lab reports can be super hard so definitely ask him for help. He is fair and gives in class quizzes that he normally uses as attendance. Definitely would take him again.
Qingsheng Liu is super cute and funny! He teaches in a certain way to really help you understand the concept and he is very approachable! I will be taking him again for lecture 132
Dr. liu is a very kind and funny professor. personally, i did not like his teaching style, it seemed like there were better ways to explain and teach the concepts. he also has a very thick accent so he was a bit hard to understand. BUT, his tests are VERY fair, he posts old ones on canvas and suggests to use them for practice & they're very simila
Q is one of my favorite professors. Chem is very hard and takes a lot of effort on your part. Although, Q gives a lot of opportunities to boost your grade. He does pop quizzes but they are easy and just measure attendance. Do the mind tap, be a workshop leader, and go to his office. I also had him for 131L, very easy lab with hard final.
Dr. Q is one of the best professors I've ever taken. He genuinely cares about his students and how they perform. As long as you keep up on mindtap, take his quizzes, attend class, and go to all the workshops you will be perfectly okay for the class. He is a great lab professor as well and just an overall great guy. I love him so much. Take him!!!
Dr. Q is one of the best professors that I have had. He is passionate and strives to form a connection with his students. He is a very caring and is always eager to help. I would highly recommend going to his office hours to get to know him as a professor and get any and all help you may need from him. Definitely take him!! You won't regret it!
Dr. Liu really cares about his students, and he offers a great extra credit assignment that should be taken advantage of! Chem 132 is a hard class, but if you put in the work its manageable, but Dr. liu was really helpful and caring.
Perfect Professor!!!
I personally wasn't a fan of Dr. Q AT FIRST, but as the semester went on, I and a lot of others in my class started to like him more and more. You just have to get passed his accent but you will get used to it. Great professor, I highly recommend. He cares a lot about his students. 132 is a really hard class in general.
Dr. Q is the best professor I've had at JMU. He really cares about his students and is super helpful with everything. I took him for Chem 131L, 132 and 132L and he was an amazing professor for each class. Take him if you get the chance!
Professor Liu really tries his best, but his english is just not that great. It's hard to understand him and he doesn't explain what needs to be done very well. The lab itself is already a bit frustrating but having professor Liu doesn't help. He grades pretty easy but make sure to get everything done. You will be in lab the entire time though!!
I loved Q! He is so cite and you can tell he really wants his students to succeed. His tests are exactly like his old exams he posts on canvas and there are other assignments that will help cushion your grade. I would highly recommend him for any class
Q is a good choice for 132 if you learn well by practicing. His lectures are basically all going through practice problems but you cant really miss them because you do group work every day that counts for 9% of your grade. The tests arent super hard but you can only miss 2 to get an A which can be difficult. Overall a good professor to have
To start, Q is such a sweet person in an out of lecture context, but I strongly suggest trying to get another professor for lecture. He does not answer legit questions. If you are confused, you will stay confused. He once asked the class if they understood and there were many audible no's. He just ignored them and moved onto the next slide.
Q is so sweet and really cares about his students doing well. Every class you have group quizzes which will boost your grade and the rest of the class is basically doing practice problems which helps a lot. I would really recommend taking him!!
Dr. Q is a solid choice for 132. Thought he was difficult in the beginning of the semester. However, I started going to his office hours almost every week and the class got much easier. He was very approachable and overall a great guy who generally cares about you excelling in chem. If you have the chance, be workshop leaders! You wont regret it.
Q had no time for student's questions during class. I do not suggest him if it takes you some time really understand a concept. he moves very fast and doesn't review any material. New groups are made after every exam so you should try to get into a group with people who will actually do work or you will be sorry.
Dr. Q was one of my favorite professors EVER. I had him for lab and for lecture (best lab prof. by far). He's so sweet and so helpful and he does everything he can to help students succeed. Go to his office hours and do all the practice exams and review all the worksheets. Become a workshop leader at least once (extra credit and it really helps).
Q is awesome! There are 4 tests and he drops your lowest. Mindtap is 10% of your grade and this is the only professor that I know ONLY requires the masteries so you'll save yourself hours on MindTap! He also will add up to 3.5% to your overall grade if you volunteer to lead the 8 workshops. Q can move fast but his exams don't try to trick you!
Q is such a gem. He's so sweet and always there to help when you need it. I absolute love him. He is very hard to understand, so if you don't have the patience or want to take the time to listen to him, don't take him. Overall, all his assignments are out of a few points, but he barely takes points off. Definitely take him!!
Q is super sweet. He is a little hard to understand at first, but you get used to it. He drops the lowest exam and gives practice tests that are just like the exam! As long as you show up for the group work and do practice problems before the test, you'll be fine. The final is very hard tho and dropped my grade 7 points. Also only mastery mindtap
Dr.Q is so cute and caring. He might be hard to understand due to his accent but the group work and workshops help you learn the material. You get a 0.5 grade boost for every workshop you lead (theres 8 so up to 3.5 points). Also all of his tests are exactly like his old tests that he posts on canvas! Dr.Q is a solid choice for Chem132 take him!!
I highly recommend taking any other professor for CHEM132. The only way I made it through this class was by dedicating hours of teaching MYSELF the material. He is horrible at explaining concepts and often left me even more confused when I asked a question. I would take every practice test he posted and still manage to bomb some of his tests.
Q can be hard to understand at first but once you get past the accent he is a great professor. He will explain anything you need and will try to help you if you are stuck. He is also very good at curving grades, and actually wants to help students. I would take him for chem lab if you get the chance.
The best professors and lab proctors out there. Answers emails fast and he is super understanding with due dates and out of school engagements. 10/10 recommend.
Professor Q is hands down the best professor I have ever had!!! He goes above and beyond to help his students! Take advantage of the opportunities he provides and genuinely put effort into figuring out questions before asking for help. He certainly expects your best efforts and if you give them you will do well.
idek this class being online was so weird I only ever saw Dr. Q 3 times this semester, but that was out of personal choice because chem is the worst
He is a great professor that truly does care if you do well or not in his class. He has synchronous lectures and also audio recordings on the powerpoint if you decide not to go to lecture which is very helpful when i miss a lecture. Lots of EC opportunities, practice tests are exactly like his actual one, and he does test review.
Absolutely amazing professor. He cares about all of his students and gives a lot of opportunities to make up missed assignments or ones you didn't do well on. He goes over practice tests that are very similar to the tests and works the homework problems in class. He is very accommodating with time outside of class and wants to help you.
Q is so amazing! He is very kind, pure, and understanding. He does have an accent, but I personally still understood him. He offers extra credit, so if you struggle in chem a lot, take advantage of it, it really helps! He offers help outside of class as well, so definitely attend his help sessions when you need help. I 100% recommend him!!!!
If Chem isn't your strongest subject, I recommend Dr. Q! He has extra credit opportunities and practice tests that are very helpful for the actual exams. Lecture is not mandatory but I HIGHLY recommend going. He's super nice and always willing to help his students. I barely passed Chem131 but he somehow made 132 easier for me!
I started taking CHEM-132 with Q spring of 2021. Everything was pretty straight forward until the first exam. After bombing it, I went to Q for advice and he said the worst things about my test-taking style and that I was gonna fail the class from the beginning giving me no hope. Please take someone else who will encourage you to learn.
Dr Q is a really good professor on the surface and clearly enjoys teaching this material. He gives good tips and is very helpful when you ask for help. BUT he is damn near impossible to understand so during lectures it is imperative that you either are used to listening to and understanding strong accents or ask questions to decider his speech.
LOOOVVE Dr. Q!!! He is such a funny man and he really tries to get to know everyone in the class which is cool bc its a big class. chem is just hard in general but he gives clear examples and steps for each problem and is always willing to help you, he gives so many extra credit opportunities. he makes chem bearable and he's also a good lab teacher
I took him for CHEM 132L online and thought he was great at lecture- BIG MISTAKE. He speeds through the content, grades harshly on one-point assignments, and the tests are worth 50%. When you fail, he tells you that you shouldve tried harder. He is difficult to deal with if you miss class. The only reason I survived was by attending PASS.
You can barely understand him in the beginning even though the whole class is group work. He wants everyone to take part in the lab, but the problem with that is the lab usually only needs two. The labs he gives sometimes leave you scratching your head for half the class and he doesn't help due to the accent. Nice guy, just hard to understand.
Dr. Q is a great professor. He gives good examples in class, and even in class worksheets to help you to understand the problems in class. Though he has a heavy accent, but you will get used to it. Totally recommend.
I had to retake chem 132 and Dr. Q was def the best professor for it. Honestly I was getting 100s on everything but my test grades are what ultimately brought me down. He gives lots of extra credit which is nice but he can go a little fast during lectures but he always posts the notes incase you miss something!
I LOVE DR. Q! He is so nice and funny! I will always recommend Dr. Q to anyone who has the opportunity to take him. A lot of people get caught up on his accent, that may contribute to their understanding of the material. But Dr. Q is SOOO good at what he does and the classes he teaches. Gives students ample amounts of opportunities to earn points.
such a sweet guy, literally love him!!!!!!!! take him, I heard the other professors are horrible.
this class is HARD. no doubt. prof liu is definitely a wonderful choice though! he was easily accessible and thoroughly explained the curriculum. the class was graded on 4 exams, pre-class & in-class "quizzes", and workshops (mandatory). i would def recommend taking him!
Dr. Liu is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He does not care about his students and although chemistry is hard, he makes it much more difficult admitting to it. He laughs at his students not doing well. Annoyed when I ask for help. Because of the language barrier, sometimes doesn't even answer the question I am trying to ask.
He said most of our grades will go down over 15% after the final and thought it was hilarious and refuses to curve. Sounds more like a professor problem than student. Wonder why most of your students are failing?
For starters the class material is hard. However, I feel like Dr Q does not help his students at all. There is a language barrier, which isn't his fault but it's a challenge. The stuff he does have control over, content, it feels like he flies by on the hard stuff and the easy stuff is given a deeper look into.
Dr. Q is a pretty cool guy, but honestly his quality of lecturing varies depending on the unit. Some days he's super helpful while other times me and my partner were left with more questions than answers when we asked for help. Depending on the other CHEM132 profs offered, he may be the best option.
Dr. Q was honestly such a cool dude. In general chem132 is one of the hardest classes no matter your professor. I think he might be the best option. Got a little annoying because he implemented some weird policies for our quizzes half way through the semester but it wasn't a huge deal. But he seems to really care and gets to know his students.
Dr. Q is such a nice professor and really wants to see you succeed. He held exams online this semester which was different from past years and I really liked this changed, units were also split up into more smaller units which was really helpful. Flipped classroom style so be prepared to watch the videos, honestly not the best lecturer.
Go to class if you want to pass. Flipped classroom style so you're basically teaching yourself based on notes and videos. All tests were online so that was great but they are timed so you kinda have to know what you're doing. The final is insanely hard and in person so start studying weeks in advance. Dr Q is v nice and helped my grade in the end!
Dr. Q is super nice, but 132 is a really hard class. Sometimes was very unclear about grading and feedback was vague. Group work and flipped classroom, but explains in class way more than other chem professors. Tests were all online, except for the final, which had an F average. Super fast at answering emails and always willing to help you.
Dr. Q is super sweet, he's really helpful in lab and really cares about his students. The labs aren't hard, you have to do group presentations every couple weeks on the lab you completed but they're really easy and he gives you feedback on your presentations then and there. Highly recommend for lab
Tests were online except final which kept my grade high. Needed to do a preclass quiz which took 5 min and an in class worksheet which he explined how to do each problem. Definitely take him.
Dr. Q is the only professor I have had where I actually understand chemistry. The way he organizes his class is very nice and makes things understandable. As long as you do the work, you'll be fine, plus you need to actually study. Hes also really funny, he will humble you, but you can't help but laugh. Dr. Q really helped me.
Dr. Q is the goat. He uses flipped classroom with online video lectures created by him. They are incredibly in depth and he makes solving the questions super easy with lots of examples. Be prepared to put in 5-6 hours a week minimum for a good grade in this class. He is a super chill guy and I recommend him for sure, but he expects a lot of effort.
I love having Dr. Q for lab. He is a super nice guy and his lab is easy compared to his lecture. I actually enjoy coming to the lab and you pretty much just learn about brewing beer all semester. Definitely take him if you can.
Dr. Q is a very nice professor, but is sometimes hard to understand during lecture. MindTaps are worth 12% of the grade, and rarely correlate to the work done in class. You are allowed to use a graphing calculator for all 5 unit tests but for some reason cannot for the final, which makes no sense whatsoever and makes the final 10x harder.
Dr. Q is great! He genuinely cares about his students and is obviously very passionate about what he is teaching. 132 is a hard class, however, he makes it very manageable and his canvas page is set up so well. There is no midterm but the final is a nationwide chem final. Dr. Q prepares you well and his unit test questions are similar to the final
This class definitely requires you to put in some work. I put in around 6-9 hours a week studying and I barely managed an A. Dr. Q is a great professor and his video lectures are awesome. He communicates really well with students and grades very fairly. He is super funny and I would definitely recommend him. Be ready to put in the effort though.
Overall wonderful proffessor, provides notes before class in video and powerpoint form, goes over all in class assignment questions, and prepares you for every exam (models questions exactly like in the practice quizzes), he is extremely organized, takes time to get to know his students, responds quickly to emails, and explains concepts well.
I love this man he is amazing just get to know him
I love Dr. Q! He gives so many opportunities for extra credit. For example, being a workshop leader, you get 4 extra points added to your overall final grade! Like you can have an 86 at the end of the semester but by being a workshop leader you can end with a 90! Love him so much!
Dr. Q is the best! I highly recommend him for lab as well because his lab is so low-stress and you learn how to make beer.
Dr. Q is by far the best professors I have had in my time at JMU. Although chemistry is a relatively difficult class, he makes it easier by being there to support and help whenever you need it. He's very quick to respond to emails, and never takes more than 12 hours to get back to you. The lab was super easy to get through, and graded very fairly.
Dr. Q is amazing! Easiest 100 ever- show up, do lab, and submit group work. His accent is thick but he's approachable, kind, + explains things pretty well. The BrewSci lab is super interesting and fun, and soo straightforward. I look forward to this class. No HW other than pre-lab quizzes which are helpful + orient you for lab. Take him for 132L !!
Dr. Q is amazing! Lectures with him are easy to understand, and if you don't do well on the pre-class quizzes, he always makes sure to explain things in the lecture step-by-step. He is very approachable for office hours and is always willing to lend a helping hand. In my eyes, he made CHEM 132 way easier than CHEM 131.
Lab with Dr. Q was amazing! I will say the lab work can get a little stressful, but that's just because it's very hands on. Dr. Q always does a great job of clearing up any confusion with the lab process and is willing to help whenever you need it. He always gives clear grading criteria for his assignments, and it's nearly impossible to fail.
Take Dr. Q for CHEM 132 he was great, he is the best, cares, is funny. He makes the class easy for what it is, has plenty of things to get your grade up. I felt like I actually learned something and chem is hard, go to pass, study and ask for help, TAs were great and so was he. I would 100% take him for chem 132, so much better than 131
Dr. Q is a really cool teacher. His class consists of a pre-class assignment and in-class assignment each class, plus a little outside homework, 4 exams, and a final. He makes a practice test available for each exam, which is very similar to the actual exams. Dr. Q is easy to access outside of class and has very good lectures.
I really enjoyed Dr. Q for 131 Lab. Theres generally no out of class assignments which makes the work load minimal. He is really nice and funny as long as you do your work and not slack off. The lab is a bit challenging but after a bit you get used to the format and its not too bad. The TA makes or breaks the class for me and I lucked out for that.
He is the best teacher I've had at JMU. He's an amazing guy as well as an amazing teacher. Make sure to pay attention in class and you will do fine.
Dr. Q is amazing. He has a reverse teaching style (online lectures and in-class work). If you watch the 30-minute video before every lecture and do the after-class assignments you'll be fine. 132 is not an easy class but he does a great job of getting the concepts across. 4 exams (lowest exam grade gets dropped) and a final. Offers EC. Take him!
My favorite teacher and I did not do the best in class because chemistry is very difficult, however with the right motivation and office hours Dr. Q will help you prepare and work your hardest. Very kind and open to questions.
Dr. Q is a great choice for Chem 131L! He makes the class enjoyable and is always willing to help. The class is all group work but it is very manageable. There is little to no homework outside of class.Take him for lab if you can!!
Q is one of the best professors I've had at JMU! He is approachable, kind, and easy to talk to during office hours. I highly recommend taking this professor, he cares a LOT about his students and puts in the effort to help every student that reaches out for it.
Dr. Q made learning chemistry so much easier, as I've struggled in the past with the subject. Lots of assignments, however they were all helpful in learning the material. If you did the pre-class work, I found it easier to pick up the information. Tests are taken at the testing center, so you had to plan time to go take exams. He is kind & cares!
Dr. Q is an amazing professor who makes the class easy to understand. The pre-class assignments and in-class work, along with the practice exams, really help you prepare. Unstuck ai is a great study tool too. Definitely take this class with Dr. Q!
Dr. Q was a fantastic teacher. He cares about his students, and is easily available outside of class if you have any questions. The material can be hard at times, but he is not trying to trick you with it in any way. The tests are taken outside of class, but you have a range of dates you can take them so it's not too bad. Would take again.
Dr. Q is amazing. Honestly cares about his students and is very understanding. He does flipped classrooms, which can be confusing if you're not used to learning at home. There is more work out of class, but doesn't take too long. Very accessible and responds to emails quickly. Drops one test. There are plenty of TAs that help you during class.
Loved Dr. Q! He's a cool guy and he genuinely cares about his students. I also love the way he sets up his classes (flipped style), because I feel like I'm really learning the material. Lots of homework but it's not that hard and the tests aren't that hard if you do the practice tests.
Incredible professor, gives you all the resources you need to succeed, and is extremely accessible in and out of class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but is extremely helpful. Lectures are clear and concise with a simple in-class worksheet. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and offers test corrections for the first 2 exams. would take again.
Super sweet and caring person. Dr. Q always made sure everyone knew what we were doing in lab and gave clarification if need be. The TA was also really nice and helpful. He made jokes, and usually lectured before lab so we had an understanding of what we were going to be doing in lab today. I would take him again if I had the opportunity.
Dr. Q is the GOAT! I struggled in Chem131, but he made chemistry finally make sense. He gives lots of practice in and out of class, and the practice tests are super close to the real ones. He's very approachable and friendly, so I didn't feel dumb and undermined when asking questions. If you put in a little bit of effort, you'll do really well!
Loved dr Q, definitely take him. He does a flipped classroom but its very helpful. he does examples in class and you do similar problems in class and for homework which is very helpful. He gives practice exams very similar to the original which is also helpful. i actually enjoyed chemistry because of him
Working with Dr.Q was amazing, he has a flipped classroom so if you get confused in class or during the day you can just go back and watch over the videos he posted. The final is pretty hard because its a national ASC exam so just know that you need to study for this in advance & you need to prepare differently for that exam vs normal exams.
Dr Q's lab was very easy compared to my chem 131 lab and made it somewhat enjoyable. He is super sweet and truly cares about his students. He is always willing to help you and is clear on what he wants you to do during each lab. The TA grades everything so just make sure to ask yours whatever questions you have so you get a good grade.
The actual GOAT.
Great professor, very funny. Pay attention, respect him and the way he does his lecture. He is a very caring professor who knows what he is talking about.
My phone broke, so I emailed him for an extension on my assignments since I couldn't access Canvas. I purchased a device to access Canvas, but I still couldn't submit the IW assignments because I needed to take pictures, which I was unable to do. He then called me a liar in response.
Flipped classroom with lots of homework. Dr Q is very nice and caring; however, to succeed in the class, you have to lock in and write everything down. The tests are easy if you do that, but I would recommend studying a week in advance for the tests. (I would go to PASS as well if you can, super helpful and can really be a life saver!)
Dr. Q is a great professor, it is a lot of work but the work helps learn quickly. All the tests are at the testing center except the final which is nice but make sure you partcipate because its a lot of credit. If you can, take Dr. Q, he cares a lot about his students and is funny too. Makes the class less heavy.
CHEM 131L is much easier than 131 lecture, and Liu was a very understanding and funny professor. You don't really need to interact with him to do well in the class, all the labs are very straightforward and many of your questions can be answered by the TA. The TA also grades all the assignments, and they never give u a bad grade. Just show up.
