Very nice prof. Class was the easiest class I have ever taken all my life. She is very straight forward with her teaching. If you show up to lectures, there is no way you will fail. She cares for her students a lot and encourages us to ask her for help regarding anything at all. No regrets taking this class with her.
Very nice, straightforward, you'll never really be confused. Easy class, I still remember the material from this class. The sample exams are exact reflections of the exams themselves, so there aren't surprises. Cares a lot about her students and goes out of her way to help and send emails about opportunities outside the classroom. No regrets.
Amazing professor, so sweet and gives so much advice and is extremely caring towards her students. The course material was made easy to understand as she is extremely organized and the practice exams are so helpful. Wonderful professor.
Great professor. Great special lecture if you're ahead of schedule
Prof. Wang is a very knowledgeable professor. She Knows her stuff and is very clear about grading. There is online homework and written hw. Written is easy, as long as you complete it you get full points. Midterm and Final both are problems from the hw! so do your HW and you will pass
Very sweet prof who cares a lot about her students. Her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. The homework is a good reflection of the material. No textbook is required. No reason to fail this class unless you aren't trying. Looking forward to her special lecture!
She's a really sweet professor who really cares about her students. Her class is very structured and easy to follow. She posts powerpoints of lectures so it's rather easy to follow and catch up if you miss class. I would recommend going to lectures because she goes over the sample questions in class. If you put in effort you should get a good grade
she really cares about her students. Just practice the homework problems and you should get an easy a. She always goes over all the practice problems in class which is extremely helpful.
She will post the slides online, but the slides do't have solutions. Attend class! She explains the problems well and ask questions, go to office hours when you don't understand. It was helpful for me. It is essential you understand each lesson. Very caring professor and her last lecture was a special lecture. Easy A.
this class was one of the easiest Ive ever taken. I would personally recommend attending lecture, but she posts notes online if u dont go to class. very basic class, reaaaally easy
this class was very fun, and the professor was really helpful i recommend taking this class if you can
I was a bit worried coming into this class because I hadn't taken calculus in almost 2 years. This class is very well structured though-one midterm and one final (both based on the HW). Just stay on top of homework (online and written) and you should get an easy A! Qixuan is super nice and her lectures are great-loved her "special lecture" too.
Professor Chen was an excellent professor for Math 046! Her lectures were very straightforward and easy to understand. Tests were a direct reflection of the homework and lecture notes. Overall, highly recommend taking this class with her
Nicest and easiest math teacher in UCR! If you just know how to do the practice midterm and practice final then you'll get 100 in the class. She gives a decent amount of homework. No curve for class since everybody does well. Midterm and finals are graded pretty leniently, but should still do well since they are both worth 40% of your grade.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER! Wonderful professor who truly cares about your success :') She's super sweet and nice; literally gives you everything that you need to pass. I thought differential equations would be gross, but she totally made the material SO, SO easy to digest. 10/10 would take class again with her!!!
I have never had a worse teacher in my LIFE! Just to give context as to how horrible this class is, I am a 3rd year, pre-med student with a 3.9 GPA and I signed up for this class because it was a pre-req. and I struggled IMMENSELY because I had to teach myself the whole course. Unless you have taken calc before I highly advise you to not sign up!
DO NOT take her!!! She's a horrible professor. Her midterm was impossible; it was the hardest midterm of my life. You really need to back to your high school knowledge in order to understand. If you signed up for her class, DROP IT! YES, DROP IT
Very nice teacher, gives you all the opportunity to better understand the topic. Clearly cares about her students. Though it is her first time teaching 9a things were a little rough but Im confident she will improve.
I will agree, her midterm was very hard. But then again, to everyone who gave her a one star rating isnt considering the fact that she curved the class to the point where everyone passed with a B or hard. She clearly felt bad about the midterm and tried her best to make up for it. Just make sure you attend her lectures.
I took this class spring 2020 (amid the pandemic). She gave a fair amount of homework. She is very understanding and very helpful! If you do find yourself struggling at any point go to office hours and get that A+! As for lectures, I tried to attend all of them so I could gain that extra understanding :)
I took Calc (Math 009A) over Spring Quarter during the pandemic so the class was online. We would have 2 weekly homework assignments and they weren't hard at all. While she does have a thick accent, the professor is very patient and answers all your questions. For those with no prior calc knowledge, attend your TA's and professor's office hours.
Best math professor i've had. it seems like her negative reviews come from when she taught MATH009A, but for MATH046 this is the professor that you want. She's very fair and understandable. her tests are easy enough that if you do the hw and have a base understanding of derivatives you don't even have to attend lecture. would love to take in person
Dr. Wang is a great professor! I took Math7B prior to Math046 and found her class at a similar difficulty. She's clear when there is homework and when there is not. Watch the lectures, take notes especially on the examples, and you'll be able to be successful. Partial credit is available when doing midterms and finals. Reach out with any concerns
As long as you pay attention in lecture and do the homework you should have no problem getting an A. Professor Wang is very caring and considerate and doesnt make things more difficult than they need to be. She has a clear objective each lecture and always sticks to it. Definitely one of the best math professors Ive had at UCR!
Amazing professor. Very caring person who wants you to succeed in the class. If you get her as your professor you are very lucky!
Professor Wang is hands down one of the best math professors out there! Though there are midterms every two weeks, they are really doable AS LONG AS you are caught up with the lectures. Her lectures are filled with practice problems and she thoroughly explains them so when you leave lecture, you understand the topic.
She's good at lecturing and a fair grader. Like any class, one can get an A as long as one puts in the effort. There are take-home midterms once every two weeks.
Professor Wang is an amazing professor. She is one of the best math professors I have ever taken. Her lectures and explanations are very clear and exceptional. At the rare times where there was confusion, she gives a detailed, step by step explanation about how and why we do the things we do to get to an answer.
Cares about her students and makes the exams fair. Shes gives take home midterms and there are 4 of them, but you have three days to do it and about 3 hours to do it with relatively easy problems if you have been paying attention in lecture. She explains the material thoroughly and makes it simple for anyone to understand.
The most caring and thoughtful teacher. There was one to two HW a week, a midterm every two weeks (a total of 4) which she allowed us to take any time from Friday-Sunday with a 3 hr time limit once opened, and a final. She gives you everything to succeed on the midterms and final. Sounds like a lot but trust me, she made this class an easy A.
Class was composed of 5 exams and homework, but it was not bad at all. Exams were not overly difficult and tested the material well. If you went to class and did the homework, you would do well on the exam.
Just do the homework and use the worksheets. Math 46 was made relatively easy with Professor Wang's through lectures and provided practice problems.
Professor Wang is a fantastic math teacher. She is smart and works hard in order for her students to understand the material she presents. I took this class during COVID and she adapted very well to the circumstances.
If you are a lazy dud like me, you should take her class. Lectures are all recorded. Homework grades based on your completeness, midterms are take home and open book. Then use her practice final to study, you will ace the class
I took this class during fall 2021 and it wasn't too bad. The professor recorded the lecture so attendance is not required so beware that this might not apply when all are in person. The materials aren't too hard and the professor helps you understand those easily. The discussion helps a lot on doing the homework.
Wang is a very understanding and caring professor who is knowledgable of her material and is willing to work with you when any situations come your way. I was dealing with a lot of stuff with family and was not able to do things on time but she was very lenient with what I turned in. Her grade was based on HW, midterms and the final only.
The class is easy if you attend lectures and pay attention. We had 4 midterms and a final, but if you paid attention during the lecture and know how to do the in-class examples, you'll be successful. She was very caring and willing to answer questions and provide extensions on the homework when necessary. I highly recommend taking her class.
Basically, attend lectures and know how to do the homework, and you are guaranteed an A. The professor is super caring and she is more than willing to help you if you shoot her an email. Definitely take this professor over anyone else if you need this class.
She is a really nice professor, I had her for my math 120 class in spring quarter. Attendance was not mandatory, she has all the lectures recorded, always go easy on the gradings, giving us the best opportunities to get good grades, as long as you are willing to succeed, you are definitely going to get a good grade. NO NEED TO HESITATE.
4 take home midterms + 1 easy final. There was never too much homework, just enough to make sure you understood the materials. Attendance wasn't required, she recorded lecture. Discussion attendance wasn't required either, but was super helpful for asking questions about homework or lecture material. Incredibly caring and understanding, great class
Amazing professor! I didn't do as well as I wanted, but I was going through some things at the time of taking her class. She's great though! One of the best professors at UCR.
Took Spring 2022. The lecture was online most of the knowledge, and concepts are on PPTs, and prof Wang gives more examples during lectures on the whiteboard. The bi-weekly midterms are very similar to HW, do the HW and review a bit with HW solutions, you are all set. The final exam has more questions than midterms, but similar difficulty.
Her lectures are very clear and goes over problem examples in class very well! These problems are the exact same format as the exam questions so lectures plus the homework were really useful. She is also not intimidating if you ever have questions about class or general undergrad help or research so definitely one of the best profs at UCR!
Math046 is a challenging subject but having someone caring and understanding of your struggles was an excellent factor that made this class easy. Midterms are easy, and homework is easy( she gives extensions and retries). DON'T GET OVERWHELMED BY THE MIDTERMS ( 3 hours for 4-5 questions). An overall excellent and caring professor.
Professor was so caring for her students. She got a brilliant way of teaching that makes u understand things well. I have to say she is the best professor ever ! Just attend the class and make some detailed notes. U will be ok with this class.
Very understanding and appropriately accomodating. She expects you to know your basic algebra...like any other normal professor of this caliber. Homework was very reasonable and was very similar to what we would see on midterms.
I took this class when it was fully online and it was a smooth experience. If you watch every lecture at some point, take some notes, and do the in-class practice problems and understand them, you should have no problem on the homework and tests. Homework was only graded on completion. There is also a separate discussion but no one ever attended.
Taking this course online was a big worry. However, Prof. Qixuan made the online lectures easy to follow and would consistently stop to make sure everyone's questions were answered. If anything seemed unclear she would go over the material once more and continue finding ways to make the material easier to understand.
Class was pretty straightforward with examples that were useful for the quizzes. Lecture wasnt mandatory but id recomend going since it helped me understand the material better and i was able to use the notes from there on the quizzes. Good class, pretty easy.
Her lectures were very clear and understandable! She was super understanding as a teacher and provided extensions on assignments when the majority of the class requested them and she made my class experience very nice. If you take math010a I highly recommend taking her class! :)
I genuinely loved Math10A with Professor Wang. The lectures were explained thoroughly and she answered many questions during class. The homework, quiz preparation, and practice final will help you succeed in the class. Also heavily participate through the course discord, and email/go to the professors office hours for more help.
Excellent lectures, very caring with students, and Professor Wang prepares us very well for the midterm/final. One of the best classes I've taken so far. 100/10. Take this class with her if you get the chance!!!!!!!!
You got to attend lectures otherwise you'll fall behind quick but very chill class.
The lectures pretty closely followed the notes and could have made the material easier to understand with more examples.
Professor Wang is AWESOME in terms of trying to make students understand everything in the lecture. She really takes the time to give examples and answer questions, which is very helpful. Her quizzes and finals are pretty easy as long as you take good notes in class. I strongly recommend going to all of the lectures because it really helps.
I had Professor Wang for fall 2023 and she was amazing! During lectures she would take the time to make sure everyone understood the content before moving on, and was also very patient when it came to answering student questions. The lecture examples closely follow the questions on quizzes and the final, so make sure to attend and take good notes!
I love Professor Wang! She's the sweetest professor and she makes sure that you understand the topic before moving on. She will always ask if you have any questions and you'll always be able to interrupt or raise your hand patiently to ask one. She also goes at a slower pace, but she makes sure you understand the material. I 100% recommend her!
I would highly recommend her. A lot of the time I struggle to learn math in person so I usually resort to skipping classes and teaching myself. However, Qixuan was very thorough in her lectures and provided many great examples which she did with the class step by step which was very helpful!
Loved this professor! She was very caring and flexible with any problems you may have. She makes sure that you understand the lectures being taught and understands if a majority of students don't finish homework by the deadline she extends it. Just make sure to communicate with her if you have any issues and you should pass the class!
She was the best! The class had four midterms, and the lowest was dropped. Midterm problems resembled homework and lectures, all open notes. The final, closed notes, wasn't bad; I scored 91%, like most. I highly recommend her; she genuinely cares and offers ample help.
This professor is fine. The subject was hard but she kept trying to give us the opportunities to improve our grades. She has extended the due date several times. You might have a tough time understanding her lecture though. She speaks fast and I just feel like she explains things more complicated than it actually is.
Took this class winter quarter 2024. She's super sweet and cares about what her students say. Very accessible out of class. Lectures are pretty fast paced and she does have an accent, but it's not too difficult to understand her. Four midterms, open book open notes and lowest dropped. Final is closed notes but I got a 93 and it wasn't bad.
Great professor overall, not too difficult to do well in the course.
She was very ready to accommodate most requests from students and directly incorporated feedback into the course structure. Discussions were mostly used for homework, which were graded on completion, and exams were very directly drawn from homework and lecture notes. Overall great professor.
She is very kind and caring, I had issues with life and she was understanding and very helpful with the situation. She can be erratic at the lectures at times, but they are more than enough (hw too) to do well in the class. Email or office hours are your best bet for questions (she does not have time after class, but that depends on the day).
She's confuses herself during lecture but it's okay I go to the TAs for help she overcomplicates her lessons
I had Professor Wang for Math009A and it was very lecture heavy. I felt the tests were mostly like the practice but slightly harder and it doesn't help that the grading scale is very test heavy so if you get a B on a midterm or final you will likely end up with a B in the class. The quizzes were easy and there were a lot of webwork problems.
The class was easy to understand and my TA was great. There's weekly quizzes but two of them get dropped and the TA's do quiz reviews before each quiz. The midterm and final were also just like the practice ones so you should be fine for the exams. The grading is heavy though but she ended up curving the grades which was great.
Prof was very good and helped a lot through the semester definitely recommend.
was very forgiving and nice and understanding when it came to grades and assignment. if you needed help she tried her best to. there are weekly quizzes, homework on every unit and a midterm and final
Professor Wang is always ready to help her students. The class has a discord where she's active and you can ask homework questions and receive quick feedback. Your grade highly depends on your midterm and final so do good on those. Quizzes every week but depending on your TA, they'll go over the topics first before you take the quiz.
Honestly the best math prof on this campus. She knows her stuff and she teaches it well. She responds fast too so if you struggle she is reachable. The class is pretty difficult so be prepared to learn, but if you pay attention and try, you'll pass easily. She's gotta be like the Lebron of this schools Math Dept. because she's actually the GOAT.
Good well prepared laid back
If you took Calculus in HS then it shouldn't be much of a struggle. I did and so I didn't struggle much, however her style of teaching is not my favorite. She presents slides with problems and solves them, but the clarity of how she got to the answer is not the best. Stay on top of hw and microtuts
Honestly she was a great teacher. Although attendance in lecture isn't mandatory , I would highly recommend not missing too much class as what she goes over in class is what will most likely be on test and quizzes. The homework was the most helpful to me. She was overall an amazing teacher. She is for the students.
Best math professor, she is always helpful and sympathetic to her students, she has a concise way of teaching the class, she always gives us a lot of examples and exercises to try out in class and then explains the solutions, I think this is great compared to other professors, she writes down the process and teaches you the problems step by step.
Take discussion quiz, homework, midterm and final, for some reasons she agreed to some of the students to take the online final help students to adjust their plan, she also chose the highest grade in the midterm or the final exam to count as the midterm final grade. Very good professor, easy to get A.
the best math professor I have ever met, always helpful and sympathetic to her students, gives us a lot of examples and exercises to try out in class and then explains the solutions, this is great compared to other professors, she writes down the process and teaches you step by step, which I really like.I strongly recommend you to attend class
She is a phenomenal professor! I have taken her for both MATH010A and MATH146A, and both times all of her material has been accessible, she has been accessible, and her grading criteria has been reasonable. For this quarter, it's 40% final and 60% homework. Truly take her if you can because you won't find another math professor this lenient.
Prof. Wang is an excellent professor. She uploads lecture notes to eLearn very quickly. The grading structure is 60% homework and 40% final exam. The homework is not so hard and follows examples from the lectures and notes. The final exam is based directly on the homework. There is no midterm, no extra readings, and no additional research required.
Professor Wang was an amazing professor that really showed care for her students and wanted us to understand the topics as clearly and easily as possible. Her lectures went hand in hand with the weekly quizzes and provided practice exams for the midterm and final which proved to be super beneficial. Would recommend to anyone taking the 9 series!
GOAT! She is very caring and is straightforward during lectures and heavily teaches through practice problems. I suggest only learning from her slides/notes, as the problems she does are pretty damn similar to real exams and quizzes compared to the practice exams. The practice exams are great in terms of structure for the real exams. Go to lecture!
She is really good, weekly quizzes in discussion that were short and easy if you went to lecture and did the homework. HW assignments on webwork which are not long and she gives you about a week to complete. All materials tested were relevant to class.
Professor Qixuan is by far my favorite math professor at UCR. She has very clear lectures and not only knows the material but knows how to explain it very well. I enjoyed sitting through her lectures because of the various examples she would give and the step by step guidance. Overall, my knowledge in Math 009C was strengthened.
pretty straight forward, study up on the midterm and final practice and you will get a good grade
Professor Wang explained difficult math concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand way. She was supportive, encouraging, and genuinely wanted students to succeed. She is approachable and accessible outside of class—a kind, empowering, and effective instructor. I look forward to having her in my next upper-level math 146B.
She is super organized and fair, she gave everyone more than enough time to prepare and while i was struggling through this quarter due to personal circumstances, she was the one class that I wasn't stressed out for, I personally did not prefer her notations she used and I was still able to learn more than i made time for
I had a good experience taking Prof. Qixuan Wang class, no surprises or uncertainties. All quizzes and exams reflect the homework and lecture so if you put some effort you''ll be fine. Overall great prof.
Qixuan Wang is just a standard good college math teacher. No BS homework and no boring lectures with notes and slides posted online for review afterwards. There were weekly quizzes that weren't hard. She also provides lots of study resources for the midterm and final, so a 10/10 rating.
