She helps you understand the microscope really well.
Tinner I awesome and very sweet, but she needs to find a different job. She is all over the place in lecture, gives examples that don't make sense, confuses the class then doesn't explain the problem which she has sufficiently confused us on, the list is honestly endless. She is extremely proud and hates to admit she is wrong (which is a lot).
I haven't taken a science class about the body since my sophomore year in highschool. I'm now in my third semester of college. Taking this class was a great decision. She posts ppts with what you'll be tested on and gives great lectures. She's clear, funny, and will help you immediately if you need it! Definitely recommend!!!
Super helpful in and out of class, gives you the information you need.
TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU NEED A GREAT TEACHER THAT WILL WORK WITH YOU AND HELP YOU OUT.
Mrs. Tinner is absolutely amazing! I took her A&P 1 and loved her! she explains everything and makes sure you know it. If you need help, she is eager to help you understand it better! Definitely a WONDERFUL professor!
I had Ms. Tinner last semester for A&PI lab, and she was the best professor I have ever had at TCC. She was very helpful and created a positive learning environment. If it weren't for her, I would not have passed A&PI. Study the lab manual and you will pass her exams. She is seriously the best, I wish she taught A&PII so I could take her again
Mrs. Tinner is awesome. if youre going to take her class be prepare to study hard like all other classes. Read before you come to class and you'll won't be left behind. She's a very good lecturer and lab instructor!!!! She is also very lenient with grades also. Thats a plus
She answered any questions, especially via email. Print out the powerpoints before class, makes for easier note taking during her lectures, or audio record. Online homework lots of questions. Exams for lab an lecture have tricky wording that makes you think hard and really have to know the material. Awesome professor.
2nd time taking her,Took microbiology first. Cares about her students and will help if you need it, just ask. Her lectures are off her power point which you will need to study; I did not buy the book. I also took her for lab. She's not hard, you just have to study- it is Anatomy and Physiology after all. Gives you every opportunity to do well.
Best professor I've ever had! Really willing to help students and make sure they understand. Took her for A&P1 and now taking her again for micro! Wish she was teaching A&P2. Exams are tricky and you must study!
Took her for A&P 1. She is not really a great teacher barely any lectures. You are on your own when it comes to learning most of the material. However, she is an easy grader when it comes to exams and quizzes. You will need to lab manual (end of chapter assignments) and the physio CD for the class.
Amazing professor. She always makes sure you follow her lecture and caring. Really knowledgeable and willing to help. Always make lecture are too interesting and cool to finish. Tests are easy A if you study and listen. Highly recommend her.
She comes across quite stern maybe unapproachable even. BUT when talking with her during her office hours, she really opened up and was very friendly. I felt she truly did care about me. She really wants you to work hard for YOUR grade and understand where your place is within the medical industry. (No reviews).
Took her for lab, worst teacher ever. She did not teach us anything, just expected us to know it by looking at the book. She would count off points on your practical if you asked questions in the classes where you are supposed to be learning. She counted the whole answer wrong for spelling/ all test are fill in the blank. SHE IS AWFUL. DON'T DO IT.
In this class I felt I just had to teach myself the material. She speeds through her lectures and doesn't explain the material clearly. Her demeanor makes it hard to approach her and ask questions about the material. Her tests are fair, but it does not help if you were not taught the material very well.
She's HORRIBLE doesn't explain anything!!! I WOULD NOT TAKE HER CLASS AGAIN.
DO NOT TAKE. Without my book, classmates, and internet videos I wouldn't have learned anything from this class. She expects you to know everything and she's a tough grader. A&P isn't easy and she doesn't help at all. Do yourself a favor and take another teacher.
The clas wasn't too bad.
I personally never write reviews , but I would like to post this one . She is a great person , but she makes it hard to understand. Lab was the hardest especially due to the fact we had to learn from the lab manual. IT WAS A BIG change from other professors I had. A&P is hard overall , but defenitly not what I was expecting.
I earned an A by studying intensively. Her class is the level of difficult because her practicals & quizzes are FREE-RESPONSE and you better not spell anything wrong. In class, we have to learn on our own and she sometimes gets mad when we ask her questions that are in the "lab manual" I recommend study groups because that helped me the most.
Mrs. Tinner is a great professor if you are looking for easy class then this class is not for you. She loves when the class participates during lectures and she welcomes all questions. With that being said always be prepared for class and you will be fine.
Decent prof. She reads off the slides so lecture is pretty boring. She sounds like she's mean, but once you actually meet her she's very nice. Just study and her test won't be hard.
Despite her strange name, she speaks clear english. It is very apparent that she cares for her students, she wont leave you in the dust if you have a question about the material. Best advice would be to print out the notes from online to take to class for more notes. She is very friendly and will share some of her personal life with you.
Where do I start. If you want to pass print out her power points and write down everything she repeats more than once, Read the book!!! Don't expect to learn just from her lecture, I PASSED thanks to study groups, sharing notes and spending hours in the science learning center.
Do your online homework - it is time consuming and some are over 200 questions. If you don't get one right, it'll ask you another question. Study, study, study her Power points. She is very smart with a lot of information and goes over 2-3 chapters a class. I voice recorded her lectures (video not permitted!) and it helped me. Good luck!
Professor Tinner is awesome, she seems mean but she's actually really nice. If you pay attention, record her lectures and write down anything she puts an emphasis on or repeats you will do well. It got pretty tough since some stuff we had to cram and it seemed rushed but she isn't very difficult as all. If you study you can easily get an A.
While I liked Tinner she doesn't teach very much, it's more of a here is your lab book learn it your self kind of teacher. He labs are straight forward you know whats going to be on them. If you are a sit back and let things come to you person this is NOT your teacher, she makses you earn your grade. I recived a B in there, she DID give EC!
FAV PROFESSOR. I had her for A&P I Lab. At first she seems scary and strict but she's actually the nicest person in the world. She talks super fast, so record her and TAKE NOTES. ASK QUESTIONS. She WILL help you and answer all of your questions. STUDY & go see her during office hours! She cares about you and your success. Don't be intimidated! :)
Honestly, best teacher you could have for a science class. Very thorough. Will explain things in simpler terms if you don't understand. Will go thru the material over and over again until it clicks. Attendance - mandatory bc she goes over a lot of info but u won't regret going to her class! Lays everything out for u to succeed.
Great Professor! Truly enjoyed professor Tinner's A&P I class, wished she was teaching A&P II. She is very informative & passionate. A&P is a very challenging course so you must put in your study time. No need to purchase a textbook, she will provide ppt, print and read before class. Anything she repeats 2x, WRITE DOWN! Participate in class!
The best teacher! I highly recommend her. If you study hard, you get A easily !
She is an okay prof. she will definitely make you work for the grade. She can be confusing during lecture, her exams are kinda hard, but everything comes from power points. If you ask a question she will answer you with another question and kinda confuse you more. Lectures are long but you should definitely record her and take notes at same time.
3 tests, 1 final. 1 extra credit which will take 10hrs- Does NOT drop ANY grades! quiz grades go toward exam grades, fail a quiz, lose 20 pts off your test grade already. Gets off topic everyday causing class to fall behind! be ready to learn 4-5 chapters ON YOUR OWN if you fall behind- she dumbs you down if you ask questions. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Straight to the point & doesn't give you any info that you won't need. She is patient & helps all of her students learn the bones of the body the easy way. You must go to the science lab & take extra time out to study the bones of the body (this is KEY to getting an A). You won't regret taking her!
I'm genuinely shocked reading the reviews because she is a pretty good teacher. I think some of the reviewers are looking for a teacher to hold their hands and give them A's. This is A&P, grow up. She does not drop any grades, so that means do your best on every quiz and practical. There were quizzes each week.
I'm so thankful for taking Mrs. Tinner, she cares about her students and gives plenty of opportunities to get extra points. A&P is a hard subject but I truly believes she prepares you for the future and makes you work hard for your grades. If you take this professor I highly suggests studying the material as soon as you can so you don't cram!!!
Having taken A&P previously before taking this class- take her. Real talk. Her class couldn't be more straightforward. Extra credit in an A&P class? Good luck finding that elsewhere. Previous A&P class, I'd spend over 30 hours for a test for MAYBE a B; this one, I would study 6-8 hours and get an A. Do it. If you don't get an A, it's because of you
She is a good teacher and is funny, but during class all she does is tell you to label the models and take pictures and if you have questions, ask. If you want to pass you have to go to the SLC to look at the models because you don't have much time in class. Her quizzes are pretty hard and tests are 50 questions fill in the blank.
She really is not a good teacher. She tests students on things we have not learned and expects us to teach ourselves. She purposely makes everything more difficult than it needs to be. I tell anyone that asks to pick a different teacher when registering
RECORD ALL HER LECTURES (go home, listen to her and take notes) Do her extra credit (worth big point),do your homework for class (she gives you a month to do it with a ton of retake attempts) Take her for lab and lecture. DO NOT MISS A TEST, NO MAKE UPS. Only way you can fail is if you don't try. Super interactive and will call on you in class.
I love Tinner! Class is hard but she made it fun. I loved her lectures and it was always interesting to listen to them. If you want to pass, come to the lectures and record them so you can later take your own personal notes. She's always willing to help those that put in effort so take advantage of it. YOU WILL DEFINITELY learn a lot.
Great lab instructor! Very informative and helpful. She really wanted us to understand the material and be confident in ourselves.
She provided extra points towards the end, to boost some people's grades up. I took this class for the Summer 5-weeks session, and it was tough but not impossible. The way I studied was read, write notes along with her notes, and study. This class is a class that you do not want to slack in. If you are confused, ask her. She's nice and great.
A&P is hard so get ready to put in some work. Dr. Tinner is accessible outside of class so if you have questions, ask for clarification. I took Dr. Tinner for A&P1, for 5-weeks, and I made an A so it isn't impossible. She's kind and wants to see her students succeed. If you don't put the effort in, you won't get a good grade. Simple as that.
have to buy pearson mastering. lecture heavy & likes to call on people. mandatory attendance. lab includes pop up quizzes but quizzes over material that hasnt been covered yet (i know, unfair) so look out & really wants students to study so you will spend alot of time in the SLC. extra credit & group projects. get a study buddy it helps!!! STUDY!!
Q. Tinner is the best biology professor Ive had. Her microclass was the best time Ive ever had. I was scared at first bc I had heard horror stories from those who took her for A&P over the summer, but I was dead wrong! Shes amazing! 10/10 YOU SHOULD TAKE HER.
Q. Tinner is one of the best professors i've had at TCC for any science class. Her A&P class is so in depth and her teaching methods really help you retain the information given. I wouldn't recommend her for anyone who's not willing to put in a couple extra hours outside of class to study though. Also gave LOTS of extra credit through the semester.
Mrs. Tinner is such an amazing professor. She breaks down the material for anyone to understand. Study the power points and you will do well. She gives a lot of group activities which are easy grades so don't skip class. She also makes lab fun and interesting.
You can tell she actually cares about her students learning the material. She is very through, encouraging and effectively made the class interactive. She does make you work for the grade and she adds important info during class time. She is one of the best professors I've had so far
I have her for both lab and lecture. She often harrassed students even after they said they didn't know answers instead of moving on to ask someone else she kept asking them. She didn't allow us to take notes saying we should already know the material (this is for A&P 1 btw). She liked to use trick questions of tests which confused everyone.
Class was switched online due to covid, all i have to say is she is literally the worst teacher ever and i wouldn't lie about that. YES the class is hard but my goodness, she is soo terrible. Good luck trying to reach her about your grades and basic communication. And she will call you out in class and wait until you answer her question.
Her class was really hard. Since her class went online it was really hard figuring things out with projects and it was hard to reach her. You have to show up to her class to really get the full effect of whats going to be on the test. Lab was fun but the pop quizzes were not
She's tough at first, but she loves her students that actually try-hard. She will match your effort and then some. Goes above and beyond to help you learn. TAKE HER!! Don't be intimidated, trust me!! And gives lots of extra credit in A&P wow!!
I took her lab for summer 1 knowing this class would be hard but having her made it even harder. Never have I had to study so much to only make a C.
Prof Tinner is an EXCELLENT Bio prof. She is knowledgeable but knows HOW to convey the information in clear, concise, and manageable chunks. Her tests reflect her lectures and are TOUGH - but fair. Those who failed are the ones who did not put in the work of listening to the lectures, making good notes and actually trying to understand the material
TERRIBLE. Be prepared to teach yourself everything. All she does is uploads powerpoints with the info straight from the text book, then records herself dryly reading them. So each "recorded lecture" is over 2 hours. I could have found more informative and entertaining powerpoints on Youtube. She doesnt reach out and no exam reviews.
i took her fall 2019. the class wasn't easy you definitely have to study for it but i liked how she made this class interesting without going off topic everything would be related to the material we need to know. Make sure you're attentive during lecture the things you need to know will be emphasized. Overall great professor! we need more like her
Nice lady that clearly wants her students to succeed but her class is so much busy work. Exams are heavily based on her lectures, and lab practicals are straightforward (based on lab exercises). There are also annoying group assignments. But the class isn't impossible. Put in the effort, and you'll do well. Just be prepared for the timesuck.
TERRIBLE teacher she is rude and is very unorganized she wont answer your questions about whats due when she will just tell you to look at the class schedule even though that is unorganized too
To preface, I took the asynchronous online class and I think Prof. Tinner has developed a good approach to online learning. Her lectures aren't exciting, but are very clear and easy to understand, even for beginners. She has enough assignments and bonuses that you can easily make good grades on, that the difficult tests shouldn't break your grade.
All I can say, In my class with her she did her part and as a student its my responsibility to study for her class but it was just very loaded for me for working full time plus another class on top of that. Thankfully, she help us in a different way to make up with our grades. Thank you
This class is tough, no matter what professor you choose. But she knows her stuff and LOVES what she does. She gave tons of extra credit points. You HAVE to take notes. Her lectures will have all of the information you need. She is also always available if you need help. Dont be shy & reach out! I am now in AP II and I miss her knowledge!
Regardless of the professor A&P is just a difficult, heavy course. She has great lectures (lectures>text) and is always willing to answer questions. Her grading is point based with plenty of extra credit. Her goal is to make sure you understand the info rather than just memorize it. She wants her students to think critically and connect each lesson
I loved this class she is a great professor. Her lectures are very good and she makes sure everyone understands the material. She is also very hands on with her students and she's really funny.
I truly believe Ms.Tinner's rating should be higher, she may be strict at times, but she offers a lot of opportunity for extra credit and if you show you truly care, she will work with you. As long as you study you'll do good in her class.
Online is extremely self taught, minimal instruction. Be prepared to go to online meeting randomly. Uses slides heavily. You get extra points if you answer testing based off understanding the material. Gives extra credit for college level discussion answers.
She knows her subject matter and loves to teach! She is tough but fair minded. If you show up and do the work, you will learn a lot from her! You have to truly want to learn but she made lab fun too....I had her for lab in Summer 1 and we moved really fast.
I took the online summer class, so it was fast paced. It was largely teaching myself the material and studying 24/7. I'm not gonna lie, this class was difficult, but the lab helps exponentially in learning. Tinner was helpful by giving extra credit, but the tests were difficult: a lot of material and no specifics given on what to study.
Im taking her in person lecture & lab. Those complaining about online/summer probably have never taken a college science course. Shes the best professor Ive had by far. Amazing at explaining things, always ready to answer questions. Tons of extra credit. If you complain about the workload or cant pass you should not be going into the medical field.
Professor Tinner is a very pleasant teacher, cares about her students very much. Alot of activities and work, but it all worth it in the end. I highly recommend her.
This may have been the hardest class I've ever taken but professor Tinner made it enjoyable. She's a very smart and witty person and her lectures were always entertaining. Everything in the exams is gone over during lectures so try not to miss her class. Very lecture-heavy. Many extra credit opportunities and group work. Some open-book exams.
She is a great Professor and is very detailed in her teachings. There is so much to learn and she doesn't withdraw any information from you. I'd take her again. Gor for it!! All the best.
For me and most of my classmates, she was awful. Most of us dropped or failed. She doesn't prepare you for exams or quizzes, everything was fill in the blank, if you spelled something wrong even by one letter, you received a 0. There was sudden fill in the blank quizzes she didn't inform us or prepare us for.She had an attitude and was very rude.
In all honesty, Ms.Tinner was not a bad professor, in fact, she was an extraordinary one. She's very different from other professors but not in a bad way. Don't know if I would ever take her again but if you are enrolled any of her classes come prepared for class and STUDY!!! She cares for her students and is a very smart person.
As difficult A&P is, this professor really makes it her mission to help you learn to the best of your ability. She is a great teacher who thoroughly discusses the topics, but it really is up to you to keep up your grade. Studying and being attentive are going to be your best friends in this class. She gives generous extra credit and is very funny.
Took this professor for online AP1 lecture. She would tell us to study over many chapters for an exam just for the majority of the exam to be over one chapter. This professor designs the exams to make you fail.
Professor Tinner was absolutely incredible!! I had her for an 8-week micro class and she made it worth it. I walked out of there with more knowledge than expected from an 8-week class. She gives extra credit and is so caring. She would always answer questions anyone had and cared that you actually understood things rather than memorized.
Great professor, explained stuff well in lab. Exams were very tough even when it was open notes. Lots of assignments so it takes up a lot of time but they help buffer your grade
I have never had to rate a professor awful, but this class really affected my confidence level. The professor shows little to no concern for how students perform in her class. She is intimidating and creates an anxious learning environment. She is very strict with her gradings and gives preferential attention to some students.
Worst of the worst, gave me a -80 -50 - everything all just to fail me, I hope those minuses helps her sleep at night
she done messed me up for life she made me hate my life I gave up on my dream to be a nurse and I don't know what to do with my life.
Loveddd her class so much! Professor Tinner is one of the best professors at TCC and would recommend for AP. She definitely made class interesting. She does have group projects but they are not boring and pop quizzes sometimes (majority of the time they are for extra credit). Tests are not necessarily hard, if you watch her recordings.
Great Professor! Made A&P interesting and is very knowledgeable. Not a terribly hard class if you study, everything you are expected to know she mentions. Extra credit opportunities and group presentations. Very thorough in her explanations. Highly recommend taking her, you will learn a lot!
She made the lab very interesting and gave a review for the practical exam, which was very straightforward. There's no multiple choice on the practical exam and spelling matters.
Literally the worst professor I've ever taken. Is incredibly rude she will mention things in class that aren't in the slidesthat will end up being on the test. Goes on rants about how we can't do certain things and tests are made for you to fail. She doesn't care whether you fail or pass and doesn't offer help, office hours is not helpful either.
Tinner seems stern, but is very kind! AP's hard & she wants ppl to study. Lectures are interesting; tries to keep students on their toes by directing questions at u. Pop quizzes to earn extra points/4 group assignments/ 4 exams w/ 90% multiple choice/10% short answer. Record lecture audio/review it often b4 exams (skipping = missed test questions).
Professor Tinner seems to get a lot of hate on here but I actually loved her! Very knowledgable & she genuinely wants her students to succeed. I won't say the class is easy as you definitely have to work for your grade, but I enjoyed it. Online asynchronous lecture w/ proctored exams, in person labs w/ practicals & a research experiment, some HW.
Amazing professor who truly wants U to succeed. I learned more from T than from our lecture prof. Test answers are written out so practice spelling bc SPELLING COUNTS! As long as you show up & WANT to learn she will give you the guidance you need. She's stern & tells U exactly what you need to know. No BS. Take her if you want to know your stuff.
