It is not too hard.
I strongly recommend taking this class online. His quizzes are very easy and you can use the book, which has important terms and concepts in bold, the entire time. I did the research essay in about a day with 3 sources instead of 4 and only read half of the book the paper was on...I got a B-...
Well, actually I feel is a great professor. I took him for the summer on-line and it was simple and sweet. I recommend him for sure. He's great!!!
Ok teacher. Not my favorite. But was fair. Good for a class that is needed for your degree plan, nothing exciting here.
The class was online. It is not hard if you read the chapter. Most of the time I just looked threw the chapters and that would get me a b.
I took this class online. It's a good class to take because you can use your book, but he needs an attitude adjustment. I still ended up with a B in the class though.
Online Class. Very easy! I just looked over the chapters and took the tests. I made an "A"
I took World History for Fall 2010. I was an easy A.We had two quizes, essay and a final. The only problem I had he posted grades late.If my grade had not posted late, it would have been a perfect class.
I took World History for Fall 2010.Good class. I had only four assignments. Two quizes, essay, and a final. The one problem was he was slow to post my final grade.
I took his World History courses (2321&2322)online which was not bad. He assigns a lot of reading though. So be sure to stay on top of that. There are 3 quizzes, a final exam, and a semester essay with a minimum of 1000 words. I'm curently taking 2322 and struggling to get an A, but like I sais, it isn't easy, you do have to work hard.
This professor was not involved except to kill you on essays. I have not had such bad markings on an essay until his course!
Great summer course! Not bad for a history class. I've taken many, since my major is history and I have to say the amount of work is very reasonable.4 quizzes overall with using the main text book and chapter books (supplementary) that is required for the start of the class. Easy discussions and really easy essay quiz. He graded essay a bit hard.
This guy is the worst professor ever. Don't ever take a class with him
Worst professor ever. Same thing, every single day. Does not go by syllabus at all, Quizzes are very hard and are not over anything that he spends an hour and a half lecturing on in class, and isn't helpful at all. For someone who expects so much, he doesn't do much for his students. Made us buy about 4 books and only use 2.
Let's just say this class is the easiest history class I have ever taken. We have had 6 assignments so far and they are incredibly easy because 5 out of the 6 we completed online. I currently have an A in his class and I don't read any of the assignments he tells us to because he goes over it in class. Show up to class and take notes and get an A.
He normally drops the lowest quiz grade. He's very helpful if you actually put in the effort. If you miss a class, I would definitely call him and let him know. It shows him that you actually care and will help you out more.
Tough grader but an amazing teacher! Need help? Then ask! He explains from the beginning that his teaching style is not for everyone but I personally prefer the lectures then quizzes and test, so I liked his class :)
Professor Davis was a very good professor. There are only 2/3 tests. You will most likely submit everything online. There is a lot of reading, but he gives you enough time to complete each assignment. Lectures are very long.
Mr. Davis's class was okay! He assigned a lot of readings with short answer quizzes. 3-4 multiple choice test that are difficult because his lectures aren't very good. 1 essay that's not too hard. Must go to 2 current event sessions that are outside of class, then write responses. His class isn't overly hard, but it's a lot of work and mostly HW.
Professor Davis's class was something I truly looked forward to although, I am a complete history nerd. He gives out a ton of extra credit so it's really hard not to pass. As long as you do the assignments as asked you will get an A. He is there if you need him but, come to him in person since he kind of lacks on emailing back.
So helpful! He seems to really care about his students. I will be taking more of his classes.
His lectures are very informative, but for the test (midterm and final) and online quizzes over novels, you have to read the textbook in order to really get a good grade. This isn't because he isn't a good teacher, but rather because he wants you to read too. He teaches in a way that makes you realize there is no clear good or evil in history.
Great history teacher!! Online summer semester. Take this teacher. Four Quizzes, four discussions, one 500 word paper (book /film review) and one final exam. Gives enough time for all test! Clear outline for entire semester. Able to get extra credit with extra essay questions. Learn history and have a great semester. Text book req. to pass
Professor Davis tends to over react a lot especially with attendance. Runs his class kind of like a High school class. Lot of reading, video watching, or work in this class, but that's everywhere. Participation matters so does attendance! Overall his lectures are quite interesting and eye opening and history never really has good side with him.
One of my favorite professors. You get a lot out of his lectures if you actually pay attention, so you don't necessarily need to do to much reading. Keeps it interesting, history is never completely good or bad. Gives test review sheets, tests are pretty easy if you listen in class. You can earn extra credit easily. Awesome teacher, TAKE HIS CLASS!
I will be the first to admit that History is one of my least favorite subjects but Professor Davis did a great job of explaining and made it to where you actually understood it. I had him for History 1302, in a summer class so we covered so much in so little time but he still did a great job and covered everything. JUST SHOW UP AND PARTICIPATE!
He understand students problem.
Professor Chris Davis means well, but is not very good at posting things on time. Like when he says he'll post a discussion Monday, it wont be ready till Tuesday or Wednesday. There for minimizing the time you have to post on the discussion. BEWARE: there may be a LOT of reading!
He's a great professor, he really understands students is fair on the work load and as long as you the the assignments he assigns you shouldn't have a problem. Loved the class would easily take it again.
Prof. Davis was a good teacher, focuses on Oral History; used films & write-ups as well. Our final was an oral history report project, & was pretty interesting. Timeliness VERY important to him! He locks the door 20 mins. after. No paper, but 4 quizzes & 4 discussion posts. Does post presentations, reading assignments, etc. online, & emails quickly
He was a amazing professor , very eye opening lectures , easy A if you do all his work and show up to class
I am currently taking his class online. This class is beyond easy. As long as you have basic comprehension and communication skills you should do well. The most difficult part of the class is discussion posts. We have to respond to two other students and it's difficult to respond to people who don't put much thought into their posts.
Easy A show up to class and just keep up with your work
Lots of reading but not bad. QUIZ are ONLINE! (4) NO TEST IN CLASS! (0) Just the FINAL in class! (1) Discussion Post ONLINE (4) Speaker Events (2) Review Report (1) Most of the days he gives you worksheets to work with a partner! Seems like lots of work if you take the class you will than notice its not bad. He is WORTH TAKING FOR AN EASY "A"!
Professor Davis is AWESOME!! He really opened my eyes to the world of History - I learned things that I don't recall ever learning back in high school. He is very helpful, sincerely cares about his students and is there to help you. I really enjoyed the online group discussions too. Highly recommend him for history or oral history! He's great.
I really enjoyed taking this class. His class is a easy A as long as you keep up with the work that he gives. He offers extra credit sometimes but if you do the quizzes and discussion there should be no need for extra credit.
I took this class online and really enjoyed it. There is a lot of reading. You will be required to get a few books. I found all second hand for less than $10 on amazon. There are discussion posts, quizzes, and a book review. As long as you read and apply yourself you'll do great. I've already signed up for his HIST1302 in spring. Great teacher.
Very hard tests, grades pretty strictly on discussions/tests/quizzes. I would not recommend him for an online class, maybe better in person. A lot of reading, but doesn't have too many assignments.
This professor is AWESOME! He gives you feedback on each assignment after he grades it to help you on your future assignments. He is very understanding and responses quickly to emails. He is by far my favorite online professor I've EVER had. I highly recommend him!
I'll be honest, Professor Davis is a tough cookie BUT if he see that you are trying, he will work with you. There are 4 discussions, 3 quizzes which your lowest score will be dropped, 4 Q&A Worth 5 points each and a final exam worth 20 pts. YOU MUST READ THE BOOKS. Get a head start if you can. It doesn't hurt to be ahead of the game.
I've taken 2 classes with this professor. There is a lot of reading and homework. But, he is a fair grader, very clear about the criteria, and when the work is due. He is easy to get in touch with and responds quickly. In a nutshell, if you do the work and show that you are putting in effort, he will work with you and you will get a good grade!
I took both classes 8 weeks each online Hist 1301 &1302. There is a lot of material and you have to be active and show interest in discussions. Quizzes are fairly easy if you read the material and there are a few long answer questions. He gives good feedback and grades fairly. Overall a very good learning experience.
What I really liked about this professor was that he was quick to respond to emails and answer all questions. He really cared about you learning and succeeding in his class and kept you updated. I would def recommend as an easy online course, he is a great professor and funny too. The novels for the course were very interesting and I enjoyed that.
What I loved most about this class is the literature. The books chosen for this class were very interesting. It was a must you read the material and the material that was read helped me to understand many contradictions in our history that I learned during grade school. All in all, the feedback from our professor was neutral and helpful.
I took this class for Honors History and absolutely LOVED this class. He very clearly loves history and inspires that in his students. Class discussions were very engaging and were very helpful in really understanding the parts of history we discussed. Lots of reading but the books were all super interesting. An easy A if you do your work and read.
Really enjoyed this class. Learned a lot because he makes you think outside the box. There's no wrong answer unless you don't read the material. Would definitely take his class again
Quizzes were open book but questions were super confusing and answers hard to find. Overall was a great class. Will take again for 1302.
Having Davis was wonderful. I was intimidated at first, but upon talking to him I realized that he really cared and that I shouldn't be worried. We went on a wonderful trip to research for our projects, and the sense of community was great as well. Would recommend if you're willing to do the work. A bit nerve-wracking but it's well worth it.
He is an amazing professor and I would recommend you on taking him. As long as you do the assignments, discussions, questions/answers, quizzes, tests, and final exam, you will be fine. It will be hard, but it is worth it if you work hard for it.
I was intimidated by this class at first, but as time progressed, I realized that as long as you put in effort to complete the few discussions, quizzes, and exams (which all were open note AND are given in a timely manner), there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't get an A. Plus, Mr. Davis is extremely fair & drops your lowest exam score.
Prof Davis was great. He gives great books to read in class that aren't boring and his test are straight from the book. You must read the books to answer the questions asked for quizzes and test. I learned a lot about history of things I've never knew. Anyone that says otherwise or failed his class did so on their own doing.
Professor Davis online was an awesome professor he did have you read alot of material but the work was pretty easy as long as you read the material. You have weekly discoussion post, Q&A and quizes. I did the best on my discoussion post and Q&A's mostly had a 100 or 105 on all of them. Quizes open book. Passed with a high B. Take him!
Straight-forward class, he gives clear instructions for discussions, quizzes, and tests. One or two of the tests covered material not clearly defined in the text, but this did not impact my grade much. He really took the time to cover all sides of history for this time period. Great class, would take again.
Gives very good feedback, I learned a lot in this class I achieved a 95 in the class, but be ready to read and provide a long written about 300 words with good quality of knowledge on online postings. two exams, midterm and final. Study for the final as it is timed, but overall a exceptional teacher.
Took Professor Davis for a online summer course. Definitely a wise choice! He's very clear and precise on what he expects, his grading rubric is on-point, and he's very good at providing individual feedback. There is plenty of reading but keep in mind this is a history course, YOU'RE EXPECTED to learn by these means. I thoroughly enjoyed this class
I like the way the professor integrated podcasts with textbook reading and there were no surprises from him. I would definitely take his class a million times, but I don't want to of course! lol
Professor Davis was a great instructor. He made it clear what he expected out of every student and gave great feedback for each assignment. I would definitely recommend taking him for history 1301 and 1302.
This professor made learning not only fun, but interesting. He graded promptly and he was extremely approachable. He wanted his students to not only succeed but understand what they were doing. I loved the course, especially for online!
Compared to other classes I had online, Mr. Davis is wonderful. I loved all his videos. He made a dreaded SUMMER online classes easy paced and much more enjoyable. Great Job Mr. Davis!!!
Great Professor ! would recommend to everyone! I took his class online and i still have an A in it. The discussions are super easy and interesting !
By far one of the best online professors I have came across. He was helpful and very responsive. He made an online class enjoyable and that is hard to do since you are not in person. I would gladly take his class again if I could. GREAT PROFESSOR!
I would definitely recommend this professor. Due to the hurricane all of the material was pushed together but Professor Davis manage to give a lighter workload and made sure you earned your grade. Before picking Professor Davis I checked RMP(as I do with all professors) and the reviews checked out as descripted. A gem of a professor
Good class and I will select him again for the second part of History.
Good professor - lot's of reading but simple class structure. As long as you stay on track, you'll be fine.
Okay, his online class was EASY. Literally got a 100 for my final grade. Despite getting some low grades on two tests, he gave me extra credit on four of my discussion posts. I think we had one assignment per week, despite the weeks being cut shorter due to Harvey. Some books I didn't read until test day and I was OK. Definitely taking him again.
enjoyed this professor's class very easy
Would take again.
Great online professor! Do all you work and you should receive a good grade. Uses all the textbooks required, test are easy as long as you read the required material. Gives good feedback and is willing to help you with anything! definitely taking again for history 1302!
Would take this class again in a heart beat. Took the 8 week online course. Easy A if you just do what you are suppose to. If you complete all your readings, answer your questions & discussions and study for your tests then you are guaranteed a good grade. Great professor, does not make things seem overwhelming.
I knew this class was going to take a lot of hard work, but I ended up with an A- in the course . There is a lot of reading involved along with multiple discussion posts and quizzes, a few based on what we read. Mr. Davis is very specific on what he wants his students to complete in the assignments and he gives good feedback. I would recommend him.
Great professor. Just do the work and follow guidelines for a good grade.
Professor Davis is awesome. He makes online classes an easy and positive experience. I highly recommend his history courses. He mainly has 3 to 4 discussion post, and if you do what he ask then you will receive an A, one midterm, and a final. His classes (HIST1301 and 1302) are Super organized/simple, and he always responds fairly quick. TAKE HIM.
This Professor is one of the best at Lonestar College. He knows what he is doing. Always engaging and makes learning interesting and gives extra credit. If you respond to discussion posts on time with more then required 300 words which is simple and respond to classmate post he will give you a 10.5 out of 10 points. I recommend this Professor.!
Great Professor overall! He was very to reach, I would totally recommend. One thing i really liked about him was that eventhough it was 3 books we needed for the course we were able to find them online for free! He is just amazing!
This was a very manageable online course and Professor Davis obviously cared about helping us learn. He gives you the long answer test questions in advance so that you can adequately prepare and learn the material. One of the best online classes I've taken because I actually learned things. Would take again.
Great professor! Explains everything, always whiling to help. Do your hw and you will get an easy A. Great reviews for the tests.
Professor Davis was amazing. He goes above and beyond in communication and provides clear guidance as to what he expects. If you do the bare minimum, you can expect to be graded as such. A little extra effort will prove to be rewarding. Lots of reading throughout the course.
You don't need to buy the textbook since he uses a free one you can find online. Tests are long, but not hard. All tests are done online. You do have to buy the chapter books in the syllabus as you will need to read them to complete your discussions. Tests are multiple choice, but also have long answer questions based on the books.
He is very clear on what he expects from his students, he is also very informative and keeps us on track of when assignments are due. He is constantly reminding us when Our next quiz/test is; I took him for an online course. The class requires lots of reading but the assignments are fairly easy and the teacher is very organized and respectful.
Lots of reading and video, plus beware you will need cash to rent movies that he requires you to watch. Releases work per week. takes him forever to grade work. does not respond to all emails.
Demands a lot of time! A lot of reading, writing, and long videos. If you have a life, I would recommend to look for a different class. On a positive note, he does constantly remind you of assignment due dates and he is one of the most organized online professors I have ever had. Good luck!
Great class really enjoyed all the information studied. There is a lot of reading but easy. would defiantly take again!
I was pregnant during the time of this course and had to be put on bed rest. Instead of dropping me, Professor Davis allowed me to take the course fully online!! He has made learning History fun as he turned it into watching films and relating it to the time period. Reading is important! Would definitely take another class by him
Professor Davis is an outstanding professor. He gives you the tools, and resources that will push you, and your preconceived notions regarding history. Work load is minimal with 10 assignments worth 10 points. The 10 assignments are very interesting, and easy to complete. Overall wonderful course, so take his class! you will not regret it.
Prof. Davis was awesome! While there's a ton of reading and information to take in, he's incredibly helpful in making sure you have everything you need to be successful, and he's usually pretty quick to respond (online student) if you have questions or concerns. You usually only have one actual assignment per week (beyond reading) which was nice.
He's a great professor, all assignments are clear and he sends many warning emails to complete your assignment the due date is approaching and you have not turned it in yet. The assignments are time-consuming but not a difficult class, as long as you do the reading. You also get to watch great movies, I really enjoyed Casablanca and the Godfather!
Great course content. Read, watch videos, movies, discuss. This is a great class if you can read into things and understand relevance of history and culture through movies. I loved it and wish all classes were this enjoyable. Mr. Davis is extremely nice and caring. He is approachable and a fair grader with opportunities for extra credit.
Class has a LOT of material but they are mainly short videos and historical documents. Tests require short written answers but questions are provided ahead of time. No complaints, only regret was not taking him for Hist 1301. I hate history, its my least favorite but he kept it from being miserable and made sure it was interesting and engaging.
First of all, I don't like history but he made the class enjoyable and I actually learned! Class consisted of watching movies, crash course videos, & interesting lectures. Gives lots of extra credit, very easy grader. Quizzes and discussion posts make up the semester grade. Easy A and very good at communication, would definitely take again!
Great class.
Definitely recommend his class! He grades fairly and replies to emails quickly. He gave us review sheets for each test so you knew exactly what would be on the tests. Have to have the books to do the assignments/tests/discussions. Take him!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! I regretted choosing this prof. THE SECOND the content was released but missed the drop date. This prof. will OVERLOAD you with work. While taking this course, I was also taking 2 other courses. This course was more work than both my other 2 classes combined. First F I have ever received. (Usually As & Bs) STEER CLEAR
Only 5 assignments.. 2 quizzes, 1 test, 2 discussions. They all took 3+ hours to do and I graduated with the top 15% of my class.
Took this class in a 6 week summer course. 5 graded items: 2 quizzes, 2 discussions & final. Nice but grades critically. History isn't my favorite subject & he chose movies that were engaging to make the material interesting. If you are not into history & aren't willing to really read to learn, I suggest picking another teacher. Not easy but doable
Great professor!
Good class and a good guy. Never emailed him with questions or concerns but seems like a respectful type of guy.
You should take Davis. If you put forth effort you'll get the grade you want. Personally, I didn't do any of the reading ahead of time and just waited till I saw the test questions, but this definitely resulted in me taking a lot longer to finish tests than I would've liked.
Great class! It does require a lot of reading along with critical analysis of the information, but it's worth the work!
Fair grader of subject material provided. No surprises with this teacher. I would take any course he teaches. He's awesome! Please do take him! I got an A in the class!
He's awesome! Please take him! He only test you on materials that is covered in the book. There are no surprises!
Took him for my US HISTORY class. Answered to emails on time, made it clear what he was grading on, and was relatively lenient when it came to late assignments, if it was a reasonable mistake. Would take again.
He's a fair grader. 2 tests, 2 disc. posts, & the final. Content is a mix of movies, documentaries, & primary sources. Gives extra credit. Uses the free online OpenStax US History e-text, which makes searching for topics much easier than with a traditional printed textbook. There's an even mix of objective and subjective test questions on tests.
Great teacher that is organized and makes you think outside the box! 2 Discussion post, 2 Quizzes, 1 reading assignment with Q&A and final. Plus, weekly readings and videos to watch. Do your work on time and you will pass. Perfect summer class!
For an online class this covered alot of material. If you don t have time to sit down for several hours every week for this prof. then do NOT take his classes. At times it was extremely overwhelming. Google became my best friend because I simply didn't have enough time to cover the material. He has few assignments but boy do they cover alot.
Great Teacher and very caring and helpful
Prof. Davis is a responsive instructor, always responding to emails in a reasonable time span. A part of his course is writing-intensive, but it was manageable, even with a full-time job. The course material was varied: films, readings, YouTube videos, etc., which kept it interesting and appealed to different learning styles. I enjoyed the course.
He is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He makes things clear and I have learned a lot from taking his class. He does have a lot of reading but it's not too hard if you really dedicate your time to it.
This is literally the easiest class I have ever taken! I hate history, but he makes it so interesting even with it being an online class! He gives you a quiz review and then the quiz, you have a time frame of 3 or 4 days until its due and 12 whole hours to take it. His discussions are so simple and all you have to do is read the topics! Take him!!
Mr. Davis is a very good professor. I took him in person but he is originally an online professor. Take him in person or online its very easy. He puts all the discussions online and quizzes are online. You are allowed to use the books while taking the quizzes. Overall a very good teacher.
Professor Davis is an amazing teacher. I took this class online and all we had due was 4 discussions, 4 quizzes and then our final. The only book I needed were the ones that he assigned and I only used them in order to cite for the discussion. It is not a hard class and I would definitely recommend him!
Solid Prof, treats you how you try him. Highly recommend if you do the reading and watch videos you should get an A.
I took him online and his class is by far one of the easiest classes I've taken. Just submit your discussions and replies before the due date and you'll not have a problem with passing the class.
Great Professor!!! ***** I took Professor David's 1302 course over the Summer and 1301 course in the Fall, both online, and i have no regrets! He assigns a lot of reading material but its interesting. As long as you do your work you will receive an A.
An amazing professor! I took course 1301 over the fall semester and it was by far one of the most enjoyable classes. Professor Davis laid everything out in an easy to understand manner and his passion for the course really shines through. I could not recommend him enough!
I took the online class; the equivalent to mandatory attendance was checking the website a couple of times a week. He responds quickly to questions and allows you to re-submit your assignment if he added criteria after you submitted it the first time. I took this course as dual-credit as a sophomore and found it challenging but not too difficult.
Very clear in what he expects in discussions and replies. You always exceed the expected minimum word count anyway because theres so much to say. Overall great prof, makes reviews for quizzes which you can use while taking it, making it impossible to fail. Also plenty of time to complete homework.
The BEST professor !!! SO caring and makes history less boring!! The class is pretty easy, multiple in-class assignments. 3 quizzes, 3 exams and a final. I loved how he showed history through movies ! YOU should take him!!!
One of my favorite professors. He's a fair grader. And just overall a fair class.
I took HIST 1301 fully online and you have the US history textbook plus 3 or 4 more books that you will read before the semester is over. If you plan your time wisely and do the reading the class is easy. Professor is a good communicator and always available. I would definitely take him again.
If you completed the assignments and do your reading, you will make an "A" in his class. He gives reviews for all the quizzes and final exams.
Professor Davis was an amazing teacher. He responds to emails quickly and is full of clarification if you need it. As long as you read his clear directions, you will pass with a high grade. Quizzes are fairly easy. The exam reviews are posted normally a day ahead with the written questions for you to prep. Tons of readings and videos.
Best online teacher I have taken a class from in awhile. Clear expectations for the class. Calendar with all due dates on it. Test reviews with 2 short answer questions given so you can do them before the test. Once the test is opened you have 12 hours to take it and it is open book. Wish he taught Hist 1302 or 2301. Would 100% take his class again
He is a great Professor. There was a lot of reading in order to comprehensively answer the discussion post questions, but they are though provoking questions whose answers have real life implications. Additionally, the professor answers emails quickly and clearly, and his instructions are easy to read and easy to follow.
Great Professor! 3 Discussion post and 3 exams (easy if you read and listen in class). He just had a baby boy so might be a little busy but cares for students. Also we watched films and Casablanca was actually great! For someone who doesn't watch black and white movies, I highly recommend Casablanca! But overall the professors 10/10.
Professor Davis is such a good professor; I even waited to take HIST 1302 with him this upcoming summer. He provides students with a lot of material so they can get a clear understanding of the unit but he won't test you over all of it. For discussion posts, the more you write the higher the grade. He definitely made history more interesting for me
This was the easiest course I have ever taken. Prof Davis was seriously the most laid back prof I have ever taken. Majority of the assignments were just documentary videos! He spaces out the tests and the discussions apart so you will def not have a lot of work. The tests were so easy along with the discussions! Easy A! Also the textbook is free !!
Very quick on responses to questions, also willing to add time to assignments for extenuating circumstances (added 2 days to final assignment when storm leeched power and wifi).
Easy "A", BUT, He's not a quick grader. I waited 3 weeks for 1 of my grades. He also says "I'll post a review mid-week" for our test, BUT never post it until Friday, the tests are due on Monday. For those of us that have a life on the weekend, we want to get our work done before Friday. Not a horrible professor, but definitely not very efficient.
So far, Professor Davis has been the best college professor I have had! I cannot find no cons about him.
This was my first online (regular session) class and I absolutely loved taking this class. He post due dates along with things to be completed by the week early Monday morning and you have ample amount of time to finish everything. He responds very quickly and the material is interesting. One of the best professors at lone star. TAKE HIM!!!
I took Dr. Davis fall 2018. He is such a great professor that I may avoid taking History 2 with anyone else but him so long as he offers it. The course saw a TON of reading, but the handicaps he gave us on the testing were very fair and balanced out what could have been a very difficult course. Literally half of the class got an A in the course.
The curriculum was interesting and I enjoyed reading the books.
One of the best professors I have ever had. I have taken him for history 1 and 2 fully online and walked out with high A's for both classes. The discussions are very do able and the quizzes are very easy. You don't have to be good at history to receive a good grade in this class. Highly recommended.
I have taken this prof for both history 1301 & 1302! He is an amazing professor and by far the easiest I have ever taken! High A's in both courses. Textbook is free which is a plus for both classes! He is very simple and the work is not too hard. The tests are open book along with the work being mostly just watching crash courses or documentaries!
I took History 1301 during summer session II and work full time. This was a bit of a challenge for me, since I was unable to do any homework during the day time. I was only able to my homework after 6:00 pm and on weekends, but made an A. There is lots of reading, but Prof. Davis is great teacher. He is always available and quick to grade quizzes.
He's GREAT PROFESSOR! helping to study easier, Caring for students and reminding us about the assignments and grade. The grade just goes up. Clear grading. We should try to get highest grade in the first units because the later units are harder. We can choose the grade we want, it depends upon your work. But you can actively work by yourself.
This Professor is awesome. Clear hrading criteria. I took online for summer 2019 loved his grading ruberic and his clear syllabus Im taking his 1302 in person. Wish he taught it online but have to do this one in person. However no books needed he uses online free books so that's awesome as well. You do have to read but he makes it fun with videos
This class is not hard if you stay on task and do not miss a reading and finish your assignments on time. He is a very attentive professor that will answer your questions. The way he manages his class online is very organized. This class will have you feeling all types of ways. It was great I loved it and passed with an A+ I recommend 100%.
I took this professor online. He was really easy very organized and quizlet helped a lot
Professor Davis has been the best teacher I have ever taken. He gives you the chance to pick what grade you get in the class. You can do however many assignments you want per unit, the more you do the more points you get. Very hard to not get an A in this class. Great story teller, lots of movies in class, keeps it interesting. free textbook online
TAKE THIS CLASS! Prof's grading scale allows you to earn an A without doing every assignment, but you must put in the work! Lots of reading. You can tell he loves this subject! Earn an 80+ on any assignment and he gives you full credit. Great reading materials, videos, etc. I really learned so much and will take his HIST 1302 for sure!
I love Professor Davis!! Amazing lectures for sure! I was always into it, and I was always focused. I would definitely recommend him!! Always smiling and making jokes during his lectures!! He is really into the subject, and if you are a good student, then I guarantee you will make an outstanding grade in his class!!
LITERALLY THE BEST PROFESSOR. i am not good or interested in history but i loved this class. He gives you 4-5 assignments for every two weeks. They're not mandatory but the more you do the more points you receive which means the higher grade you get. Each unit there is a quiz, book quiz (super easy), discussion, and a document analysis. TAKE HIM!
You can choose the assignments you want to do. Each assignment has a number of points. You can choose your grade. BUT all you do for this class is read. Read the textbook and take the test. No video lectures, powerpoints, or inquizitive.
Highly recommend! Took his class Spring 2020, switched online bc of covid-19, but he still made the transition smooth. Assignments are pick and choose, reading? yes. I skimmed through most of it and still got an A in the class. Not hard at all, if you failed, its bc you didn't do the work.
He's amazing! He started each week off with a Kahoot! in order to test our knowledge and not bore us. If you try, you can easily make an A! I really wish I could have ended the year in-person, but that's not his fault. Overall one of my favorite professors.
I really enjoyed this class and the structure of the course. We had the option to complete whichever assignments we wanted to for each unit, just as long as we made sure that we would earn enough points by the end of the semester. You are told how many points each assignment is worth. We read a lot and I learned a lot. Amazing professor.
He was the easiest HIST 1302, it is more about doing some of the assignments. It is a point system based, the videos and lectures help a lot, and you don't need to buy the book he provides it for you. A bit of a lot of reading, depending what assignments you decide to do, but nothing that is too heavy that you won't pass. Definitely take him!
This was an easy class that I actually enjoyed. Professor Davis has a grading point system, which was really great. He also provides a textbook online, which is helpful for the assignments. Davis also provides assignments for a novel that you have to read. It was a great novel. Overall, this was a class I enjoyed and I recommend this professor.
I just took his class and loved it. I've always enjoyed history and even with the class being online I feel like he made the experience an open and honest one that anyone can learn from and comprehend. Assignments are organized and criteria is easy to understand. Gives clear and specific feedback. Make sure you read the books and cite your sources.
I took his class through the COVID week and he made the change (to in face to online) manageable. He is a wonderful teacher that makes you learn history even if you hate history. It takes you to 5-6 chapters filled with homework and test. Has a unique grading criteria but I recommend you do all the work to get a good grade, the class is flexible.
Took him during Summer 2020 for Hist 1302 6 weeks online and the course is pretty easy. The grading scale he uses lets the student determine their final grade. If you're lazy you won't pass but if you put in the effort to do the assignments it's an easy A and you will learn a great deal about culture and history. All of the textbooks are free!!!
Hands down the best professor I have yet to have. I had him as an online class and all assingments are easy! His quizes are super easy and discussions are a piece of cake if you just follow directions. Would definetly recommend him!!! Very understanding and gives lots of extra points to pass his class.
hist 1301 was incredible with prof davis, he gives great feedback focusing on how to do better and the tests are based on the reviews he provides. Never had any trouble, learned a lot and gave me a lot of confidence. I will be taking him for hist 1302. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE, CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR!!
Professor Davis was awesome! Because he grades using a point system, you essentially get to choose what your final grade will be. All of the books we used could be found online free of charge. He gives great feedback and you really learn a lot while taking his class. I would definitely take him again if I could.
I took this class as a 6 week summer session. This class is solely based on points so the more assignments you do, the higher your grade is, it never goes down. There are 3 assignment choices per week (discussion post, writing response based on book & multiple choice quiz on textbook chapters). SO easy!! Take Chris Davis, you won't regret it!!!
Professor R. Chris Davis is the best professor I ever had. He also provides a textbook online. His quizzes and all assignments are super easy. Take Chris Davis, you won't regret it! I would definitely take him again if I could.
One of the only profs. I've met who is actually respectful of his student's time. He was willing to look over my papers for other classes and always available to meet and go over them. He also got rid of unnecessary assignments that were taking up time. If you want a prof who will support you, I strongly recommend him for EDUC.
Take this class you'll thank me later. The way grades work is so helpful. There's a lot of reading but to be honest I wouldn't really open the books until I'm doing the assignment and I still wouldn't read. Multiple choice and easy discussion questions and short answer quizzes but overall very easy class to get an A. I took this class online btw
Way way way to much reading but the class isnt hard. You could actually skip a few assignments if you want to. I just would not take his class again because of all the reading.
I liked his class because he based it off of a point system. If you earned x amount of points, then you could receive a good grade. He offers more homework than needed for you to do well in the class. Would highly recommend this professor
Professor R. Davis is one of the best professors I've ever had. Due to Covid-19 it has been difficult and Professor R. Davis has made it simple for us to understand the assignments. He provides his syllabus and its very thought out. If you put in the time to read and spend time in this course it's an easy A.
Personally loved the point system. He literally provided all the materials and had a consistent syllabus. Pretty heavy reading but had such amazing videos. Do the work and you'll be all set. You can even skip a few assignments. Definitely take his class!!
He is a great professor. This class is an easy A. Professor Davis sets students up to succeed. If somebody fails his class it simply means that they didn't turn in assignments. His course even allowed me to forget one assignment and still receive an A. I loved taking this class.
I took his class for a winter mini mester. His grading system, to me, was awesome. There were a total of 125 pts available, so that left room to be able to miss 25 pts worth of assignments and still make a 100. Very responsive and clearly a very caring professor. 100% I will be taking him for any other class that I need that he teaches.
Took this as a winter mini and would 100% taking agin in the future. I loved his point grading system. I missed one assignment and still finished with an A+. He is very understanding and gives you a chance to resubmit work that scored below a 85 in order to get full credit. He also gives a one day grace period
Professor Davis is one of the best professors I've ever had. You may need to purchases a book in this class which is not expensive and he provides links that are free or a $10. He will work with you and let you know what you did wrong in your assignment. If you're consistent in this class and do your part you will get an easy A+.
Prof. Davis was super clear in all the assignments and would give multiple heads up on all deadlines. This class was heavy on short answer assignments, but he made sure to clearly explain what he was looking for in the short answers and always offered examples. I took him online last fall and would say he's one of the best at hybrid teaching!
Took because I had to & ended up loving it (I normally hate history)! Professor Davis grades by point system, do the work & you will pass. A lot of reading, but the material is interesting. 8 week course, 4 units, 3 assignments per unit & exit exam. I did all but 1 assignment, so I didn't have to do the final. Made an A. Will take 1302 this summer
He was really nice and what I appreciate is that he provided all books needed for free! The assignment was heavy but you had 2 weeks to complete. Because of the ice storm we felt behind a little bit but he was very understandable and gave us extra time! Dont leave assignments last minute. If you do all assignments and get 100, you can skip final
Great professor! Allows the students to be able to get the grade they work for, by providing assignments like points. You can earn up to 125 points (on a 100 point scale) and there is a lot of writing assignments involved. Focuses less on tests, more on reading/understanding the material. I really enjoyed the class.
Professor Davis is an excellent professor. After every writing assignment, he gives constructive feedback. Also, he gives the chance to re-submit a corrected research paper after he gives his feedback. Make sure you read all the chapters he indicates; the books are usually free from the library
Prof. Davis was absolutely great. The grading scheme/schedule is strange at first but you get used to it. He has many opportunities to keep your grade up. Interesting course material. Good feedback on assignments. You get the grade you worked for. It can be an overwhelming work load but its easy work, just time consuming. Easy to pass. Great class!
Professor is really good at communicating through email with helpful feedback. I took Hist 1302 and if you do the homework and read the assignment its easy. He grades mostly on discussion participation and replies. He can tell when you're rushing so take your time before submitting something. My grade was an A.
I took Professor R. Chris Davis for both hist 1301 and 1302. At first sight, the class can seem to be overwhelming but if you do the work you'll get a good grade. Lectures are really interesting and so are the assignments. Take him you won't regret it!
The course is amazingly fun and easy. Although the various sources to read can overwhelm students, the 125 points cumulative system balances that burden since 25 points can be considered as extra credit. The course points are divided: 5 guaranteed points; 20 for quizzes; 50 for short essays; and 50 for discussions about assigned movies.
You learn a lot in this class if you work hard. There is a lot of reading but if you do not make an A it's your fault. You have a total of 125 points to make 90 points which gives you an A.
Amazing! I took professor Davis for both HIST1301/1302. He has a clear syllabus and allows enough material for you to decide what you want to do for the grade you want. Discussions with 2 replies, written quiz, context quiz, and optional finals if you like your grade you dont have to take final. Gives you 3 tries for quizzes!
I thought I honestly was going to fail this class, as most classes require memorizing material and this topic didnt interest me but I have learned more than I imagine . Nothing is locked down. he tells you exactly what to expect but you must watch and read every podcast and material assigned. I took sumner 5week class and needed at least 15+ hrswk
The teacher has a point system of 125, so final exams are optional. He offers a chance to correct your work for a better grade. There are a lot of videos and readings, as long as you do them you should be fine. Overall, his class isn't hard and you actually learn while taking his class.
From the very beginning, he had a clear grading system and what he expected from us. There are 4 units along with one discussion, one MCQ quiz, and one written response quiz from a specific book every week. He has a system of 125 points, so plenty of cushion room. I ended up with an A at the end of the course, so I didn't even have to do the final!
Great guy and great professor!
This class is a easy class if you do the work. Each unit has one content quiz, one written response quiz, and one discussion. The total points per unit is 30 points (4 units). Mastery is 86% or above. Show mastery on all assignments in each unit and you will be rewarded maximum points. Do your best, redo the quizzes if you need to, and good luck!!!
Professor Davis was a nice professor, and his class had plenty of extra credit assignments available. The reason I only gave him three stars was because he took about a month to grade each of the written assignments (the majority of the coursework) that I turned in. Also, it was very hard to reach him through email. Other than that, he was great!
If you have the chance to take his class, TAKE IT!! You get to decide how many points you want to get for this class since there is a total of 125 points (if you follow the instructions on every assignment). Lots of reading but videos help A LOT! If you demonstrate mastery of 86% or above, you will be given max points which is awesome.
Absolutely loved Professor Davis. He was extremely clear with all of his instructions. He had study guides for the quizzes. The questions for written quizzes were available ahead of time. Anyone who wanted an A could get one and his grading system was amazing. If I could take another class with him, I'd leap at the chance.
Awesome teacher. He graded out of 125 points (meaning you will not have to do every assignment). I did not have to take the final because I had such a high grade in the course. He asks you to write, but it should be an easy A if you do your citations correctly. If you read the material, you will learn a lot.
Used a unique grading system based on points earned throughout the mini mester instead of an average score. That combined with the 25 point overhead and the 86% needed for full points made this a satisfying class to take. The work is lengthy and difficult but consistent and doesn't feel like pointless busy work.
Professor Davis created a syllabus with 120 points possible with 90 points an A! I really enjoyed the course and being to boost my score . I am taking him again for Hist 1302.
This professor is pretty lenient with you if you reach out to him. I struggled with having to deal with other responsibilities that are going on in my life on top of all my school work, and at that I already struggle with History, as I have never been a fan of History. But, Professor Davis makes it possible for anybody to enjoy reading and learning
Excellent source lists for additional reading. I enjoyed the podcasts and recommended films!
Very meticulous when it comes to written assignments. This point system is understandable, but make sure to set reminders for due dates. Heavy workload, but you will be fine. The exams are very easy since they are straight from the textbook. You will need additional books but they are free online. Full points awarded if you get a 87% or more.
This professor gives an overwhelming amount of homework with long discussions. I would make him your 2nd option if you had a choice.
If you're looking for an easy A this is NOT the class for you. Would not recommend it for anyone who works full time, you will be stressing like crazy! BE prepared to write ALOT I wrote more in this class than I did in my English classes. Set reminders for due dates you'll thank me later! He is very meticulous with his wording, Everything is on you
easily my favorite professor, heavy reading/writing courseload, free books if you can do digital reading. attaches directions for citing to every unit & gives opportunities for corrections. Full credit for assignments completed with 87% He does all he can to set students up for success, and also truly has a passion for teaching
Is very strict on grading and is picky about credits. I do, however, like how he rounded up if you got an 87 to a 100 but there is a lot of reading. He was not a bad teacher, I don't think I would retake him though. The textbooks are free and give examples of test responses, discussions, and responses.
Took him for Summer 1, he has a clear grading criteria and its very easy to make a good grade so long as you do the work. His system lets you choose what assignments you want to do and what grade you want at the end of the semester. This class is probably a breeze during regular semesters. You have about three assignments a week.
I (TOOOON) of work! You can get an A, but it will not be easy!... In fact this is the hardest A! This is the most collage work I have ever done.... This instructor shouldn't be your 1st choice!
Professor Davis was great. He was very easy to work with and responds quickly to emails. Super friendly and down to earth. The assignments are clearly laid out and graded within a respectable amount of time. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Not a challenging course but lots of reading and discussions. Highly recommend!
I did the online course for Texas History, and learned so much that it made me want to look further into my family history. With this class there is a lot of reading, but the work is not hard to do if you do the reading. I enjoyed this class and would recommend it for anyone wanting to learn History!
I would definitely take this class again. This professor teaches in a way that pulls you in and keeps you interested.
C.Davis is the best! His lectures are easy to follow b/c you can tell he's both passionate and knowledgeable. It's obvious he genuinely cares about student succeeding. Not too much work but just enough to actually learn something in class. Quick to respond, happy to answer questions and gives applicable feedback. Taking his class is worth it!
He is passionate about what he teaches and very easy to talk to. One of the best professors I have ever had!
I had a great experience with Professor Davis. His lectures are engaging and you can tell that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. He genuinely cares for all his students and is easy to talk to. Also, if you ever have questions about traveling to Europe he is the perfect person to talk to!
Professor Davis was probably one of the best professors I've had! The tests are easy as long as you do the reading, and the discussions are a little time-consuming, but also really easy! If I could, I would 100% take his courses again, definitely recommend it!!!
Professor Davis is a great professor, he lays out everything you need to know about the course in the syllabus and it is easy to navigate and understand. The work load isn't unbearable but it is a college course and you just have to stay on top of your assignments and meet your deadlines. I would take another course by this professor.
If a student had to take this class I'd have to give you a huge warning. I have never met a professor or person that has been this considerate, inspiring, or supportive. He gives heads-up to deadlines to make sure you have them on your radar, bonus-assignments, and so many ways to boost your grade. BEWARE! This is a professor of the highest regard.
The class is fine enough. He's just very flippant and it can be hard to look past that in his tone. At least I learned something, but he could be less condescending and cold. Take him if he's what is left.
Professor Davis is one of the few professors who genuinely wants to see his students succeed! His course is very straightforward and organized. As long as you stay on top of your coursework and put in effort then you can pass this course! I definitely recommend you take Professor Davis!!
Professor Davis is a fantastic instructor with great course material that guides you along the way. If you're considering taking Professor Davis, I highly suggest you do so. He gives valuable feedback and several options for extra credit. If you don't make an A in his course it's because you simply didn't try. I really learned a lot in his course.
Professor Davis runs a straightforward course. Stay on top of the work and you'll do well. Unstuckstudy was super helpful for prepping and making the most of this class.
Great teacher !
Professor Davis' class was very well organized, I took it in an 8 week session and I found it very manageable as long as you stay ahead of the readings and stay on top of the work. He uses a free textbook so that was also appreciated. I highly recommend Professor Davis for any course!
Amazing professor! Took for the summer 4 content quiz, 2 doc analysis, 2 short essay, 2 video quiz assignments (each had about 3 videos to watch). Offers a grace period for all assignments. Score 88% or higher you'll receive a 100% on the assignment. Fast grading, responds fast to emails, clear instructions. Textbook is FREE. Offers extra credit.
He's super nice and friendly. The structure of the course makes planning ahead super easy, and there are 1-3 assignments per week. Some of the modules are long, but you don't have to watch every video. The quizzes and source analyses are lengthy, but they're easy if you do the modules, and I just really appreciate that there are no essays.
