very nice proffesor and very understanding..she gives two exams.. a midterm and a final..both are pretty hard..if you study you will do fine..she also gives an extra credit assignment which everyone should do..SHE IS VERY HELPFULL AND UNDERSTANDING..I HAD PROBLEMS AND SHE HELPED ME OUT
she is a nice person but her test are different from what she teaches. she dont gives notes and you dont even use the text that cost a ton of money. but if u get A's on the tests she will do just fine
i think she's a great professor. If you read and study the book before the test u'll do fine. Even though the tests have nothing to do with what she says in class reading the text book is the main thing. u'll get a easy a is u read the TEXT BOOK
Shes a great professor. You will definitely get an A if you read the book. Her classes are somewhat interesting. There is a midterm and a Final. There is also an extra credit option available. Overall, shes a nice fairly easy professor. I don't see why some people are complaining.
The worst class that I had this semester. She is very boring teacher and her lectures are useless. Since she is a psych major she gives tricky questions on the test that has nothing to do with her lecture. Worst professor in BC
I really like this professor. she is very easy and nice. I learned a lot from this class. if u take good notes u don't even have to read the book and u will be fine in the class.

Maybe she was easy for H&NTR 6.1 if you compare it to Greenberg. She was very unreasonable in Human sexuality class. The exams were not based on the book. I was made up by herself.
You think she's an easy A, but really she's an easy B. Her tests are very bias to everything she thinks and comments on in class. It's a boring class most of the time that is only really interesting if you have a funny class. Good class for an elective to P/F.

Very unclear about what book she wants and its not even in the book store. I have to order it online and she didnt even give a good description of what its supposed to be like. Very boring too at one point 4 people were asleep in the class. Her lectures sound easy for now i dont know how the tests are gonna go.
tests are hard. Professor is boring. the class is not intersting. The information that is on the test is not in the book, don't look. it is tricky test based on her knowledge of psych from graduate school. I hope she would retire with Goldberg.
I had her twice b/c an easy B is better than c's. Harsh grader in terms of her tests are verrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy tricky, she can be boring, but shes not bad. The human sexuality class can get sorta fun but not right away.
Shapiro is not as bad as everyone says.Yes, her lectures are boring and she's very strict on attendance.Her tests are tricky, but also very short.However, she's nice and a very helpful person.
She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Her lectures have nothing to do with the boring book she expects us to read. Her exams are tricky and I will never reccomend her to anyone. I can truly say that I learned very little maybe close to nothing in that class. STAY AWAY FROM HER!! I heard Mills is better, you actually talk about sex.

Two miderms, two chances for extra credit, one final (not cumulative) Lectures were very disorganized, had a hard time finding my groove in the class. Knew the material very well, however managed to fail both midterms- be wary of the tiny details she hints in class!
very boring and disorganized. Doesnt remember where she ended the last class and starts the new class with what we learned in the last class then realizes this after 10 minutes of class has gone by. Very hard and tricky midterms, people sleep in the class doesnt do anything to make the class somewhat fun. Dont take her.
Can you say waste of time? Thought this was going to be an interesting elective outside of my major...haha yeah right, exams are not hard if you study..but ridiculous and boring class discussions make you not want to come to class

The topics in this class are interesting if you are interested in health, mainly because they are very basic health topics that you can identify with in your everyday life. However, her class is pretty boring. Take good notes bc her exams are mainly from her notes but she does ask questions from the book even topics that she doesn't particularly
Health is a very easy and interesting topic but somehow prof. shapiro tends to make it a bit confusing. Midway through the lecture she gets confused and has lost track of what shes saying. She doesnt seem very focused. Interesting class overall.
HMMM, SHE'S A LITTLE SPACY. BUT NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO PASS WITH A HALF WAY DECENT GRADE. HER EXAMS COME STRAIGHT FROM THE NOTES, FOR REAL. I DIDN'T BUY THE BOOK, DIDN'T NEED 2. I GOT A "B" WITH NOT TO MUCH STUDYING. AND THERE'S EXTRA CREDIT. SO THE MINIMUM IN THAT CLASS SHOULD BE A "B" FOR "B-" WITH NOT MUCH EFFORT PUT FORTH.

All i can say is very very boring, everynoe was falling asleep. i didnt like her as a teacher, if you have her takes good notes and study from them.

Shapiro is really a nice professor. I was interested in learning more about human sexuality and I did. Her exams were all multiple choice and true/false. You can just pay attention in class and skim through the textbook and you'll get a decent grade. She will even allow makeups and makes herself available before class. She's sweet and I got a B.
She's a good professor. Her test are to the point. She's teaches sensibly and she's easy to understand. Didn't make a fuss over a few absences either. Study for the exams and you're fine! I recommend her!

This prof. is very helpful. she is willing to work with you. she doesn't really care about lateness or absences. her tests are at times confusing but she wants you to take what you learned and apply it to the real world. overall a nice prof. I recommend her.

Sit in the front, read the text, and keep up or you will fall behind. once u get a hang on the tests, its good. one health behavior change paper. participate a lot and you can get a good grade. just make sure you do good on the tests.
An easy class if you pay attention and take notes. She is full of interesting stories that you are not tested on, just the info and the text.

Very Very Boring, and extremely forgetful. She is not helpful & doesn't prepare you for tests. When students try to contradict her, she tells them they are wrong. Not open to students' opinions! Aviod if possible.

She is a nice person and if you ask her for help she will help you. She is vague about what your exam will be on. You have to take notes and read the sections in the textbook that the notes are on in order to do well. Her project is really easy. I think the class' material was boring, not her.
No idea what the people before me are talking about. She is the sweetest! Tests are all mult. choice. Very clear which answers are correct. Doesn't pick random questions from the textbook. Her tests are totally based on her clear lectures & powerpoints that she posts after class. If you graduated HS this class shouldn't be a problem.
I would definitely NOT recommend taking her for hnsc 1100. she REALLY doesn't know what she's teaching. She gets EVERYTHING from the book and reads off of the slides. Be prepared to talk about seat belts and not about the actual course material- she doesn't prepare you for the tests, you're on your own for that one.
I had her for Hmn sxlity, what a mistake. Only she could make sex soooo boring. Her test are multiple choice and often have questions that are based off of her opinion. She often says incorrect information and if you try to correct her or give her your opinion about something she disreguards it.
Horrible. I would study and know all the information but her exams were stricktly opinion based and the format of her questions were all over the place.

Reading the professor's slides and paying attention to what she says in class is good enough to pass. I only read a page from the book, so its not really necessary to buy. I got an A from her class. She gave like 2 Black board discussion homework and a project.
She gives you powerpoints. I wouldn't take her again though. She's not a terrible professor but her lectures are boring, her exams make you question yourself due to the way she worded the questions. I took a similar class before and I passed with an A but with her I'm barely passing.
Don't take her. She's a sweet lady and all but her class is just SO boring. I had her for a sub for about a month but oh my, I couldn't stand it. She speaks very low and can't really take control of the class. From what I heard, her tests are hard as well. Good luck if you have her!

Spends 80% of class time talking about things that are irrelevant to the topic and will not help you on the tests. You can know her slides perfectly, and still fail easily. The test questions are very unclear and there is usually more than one answer that makes sense. She is a nice person, but don't take her class- so boring and so easy to fail
Shes nice but boring. Her lectures can lag on sometimes. If you read her ppts and compare to the textbook you can get an easy A, if you pay attention to what she covers and just read her power points you can get a B the extra credit is a must in the latter! She only takes attendance once so don't. be late she won't change what she's written
So boring I wouldn't take her again. From the way she talks to her teaching skills so not worth it. Try taking someone who's interesting. The class is supposed to be exciting but she made me want to skip class.

She is good, she explains if you ask her any topic you did not understand. She likes when students read articles she gave for homework and discuss in class. If you want to hear her sit in first not in the end in the class cause she talks not loud.
She is nice but a very boring professor. She makes the tests very different then what she emphasizes in her lectures. It would be much easier to do well if her tests complied with the what the course is about.
I'm taking this professor now and she's actually not bad at all. She gives articles to read and each class is basically a discussion of the articles, so it's good to read them. So far I've gotten great scores on assignments. But if you're not a good writer I see how this class can be hard. She is helpful though so just ask for help or get tutor
An okay professor. Her slides aren't made by her but copied from McGrawHill and she reads off them. You might as well teach yourself during your free time since the PowerPoints are online. Her tests are totally different from her lectures. Made a study guide from the textbook given and the slides but the tests and PowerPoints aren't related.
I took her class this semester fall 2017. I avoided her for the longest time because everyone was saying how hard she was. I did not use the book about once. The only thing I did to study for exams was read her PowerPoints. I was absent about 10 times. Didnt even study for the final and got a B. Come on people...
Ticky tests with tricky question which can be annoying. Read the textbooks and the power points.
Good professor. Easy lectures you learn a lot of interesting information. She gives huge curves on midterms but not the final. Read the chapters and take notes. Study from textbook and notes, you should do well. She's a nice professor.
Unclear about topics on tests; will tell you to study certain chapters and have the test be completely different. Boring class to take at 8am, you will fall asleep. Demands that you read the textbook but barely asks about it. Do not take.
I regretted taking 1100 with her. Her test are a bit tricky. I dont recall her assigning homework everyday. She curved the two test we took before the final because everyone did poorly. If u can take another professor for this class. Please do
If you pay attention and read her slides you will do good. She takes all of her info off of her slides all you need to do is take those slides and study them and you'll get good scores on her tests, no HW but there are only 4 tests so you have to do good on those. and she curves.

Do not take her class. I have her for 1100 and she is so boring. No one pays attention nor stays awake. Her tests make little sense and have little to do with what she "teaches." She simply reads off the slides, however, those slides correlate to what she teaches. Do not buy the textbook. Waste of money because you will not use it.
Boring! Boring! She is a snooze fest. There are tricky tests and you need to read the textbook inside out, it's a joke. Avoid. It was not my choice to take her, Brooklyn college treats their incoming freshman like trash and places them anywhere so unfortunately I ended up with her!
Although Prof Shapiro is very nice, her lectures which pretty much consist of reading verbatim off the the PP slides. The lectures are unimaginative and frankly boring. It's not hard class but I would have appreciated a more engaging style of teaching. Although she tries and means well but I can't honestly say I'd recommend taking her.
She speaks with a low voice. Come to class late every period, less caring. If u failed the test, you need to see her, she'll tell if you can't understand the question, you should be asking. But when I took the second test and ask her, she said she had explained everything inclass already, and told you should not be asking. NO REMECOMMENNT!!!
She only gives you 45 minutes for a midterm and it's 43 questions. She grades you on three tests and a project that's it. She is not accessible after class

Took Professor Shapiro in the fall semester. Your grade mainly depends on tests, so you better do well. You need to read the textbook to prepare well for the exams. Nice professor though.

Midterms are weighed heavily on the grade, and there is extra credit. For this class, you need to buy a textbook. There is a project and discussion board. The teacher teaches well, but it doesn't feel engaging.
I would never take this professor ever again, lectures are long boring and un engaging, doesn't know how to teach and her exams are nothing like the material she teaches, beware of pop quizzes, tough grader and the projects she assigned are difficult. If you care about your GPA do not take her class! she is also very inaccessible outside of class.
No no no If you ever find out you have her as your professor please don't take her. Her lectures are so long and boring. She does not make the class interesting. One day she gave us a random pop quiz and everyone was shocked so be aware of that.
Her class is lecture based and it gets boring. She'll tell you if something isn't tested on. For midterms, I thought some questions were unfair since they were never discussed or in the textbook. But she's a very sweet lady and will answer emails promptly. There's basically no homework other than textbook reading, but reading didn't help me much.

NONONOnono. So bad I wanted to give a 0 but that's not possible so I give you a 1. Suffering + nightmare. Her voice is a whisper and doesn't care if anyone can hear her at all. Doesn't know her material and hates job. TESTS are trick questions and don't match her "teaching". Know her slides perfectly and still fail. She just is rude don't take.
Somewhat pleasant and gives extra credit, but this was by far the most boring class I've ever taken. Her voice is SO monotone and quiet and at 8 AM... I was struggling to stay awake or care. That being said, there was hardly outside work & exams were lecture-heavy (all notes posted). She's not a bad professor; she's just not engaging at all.
Horrible, just horrible; to this day I still don't know where she gets her questions from. The questions are practically unfair; some of those questions were never discussed in class or mentioned in the textbook. She says to use the textbook, which is better than her slides but still unreliable.
I took her in the spring but I wanna warn you DO NOT TAKE HER. Grading system is very unorganized, you do work and the total average for the class would increase so the grade barely changed (think she fixed this) Testing is also very unfair. Also she Was also under a different name (R E SHAPRIO) before so we didint know who she was until first day.
