Very smart man. Had for Globalization and UN course. Very well cultured and intelligent. Knows very much about history/politics/economics. Class is interesting and thought provoking. One of those teachers that might be too smart to be teaching here.

All the tests are essay funny guy
Did not like him...couldn't figure out what he was talking about half the time, and I wondered how i would get through each class, because they were boring. Everyone was falling asleep. very anti-american, if you like that kind of thing.
Didn't care for him. Got a lower grade because he didn't think i particpated enough, even though we talked a lot about other things besides econ.
quite possibly the worst teacher ever. you can not understand his english, and i remember sitting through his classes wondering how i survived the previous class... very anti-american and biased. not much homework, grading system is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very smart, knows the topic real well, he's from iran, so teaching about the culture of islam is right up his alley, but he doesn't make it anti anything really, if anything he points out islams historical mis steps
Easy class. Got a 99 on both mid-term and final exam. He does a Leno-like monologue every class. Participate in class more than once a semester and get decent grades on the exams and you'll do fine.
He is a very good teacher!!! Certainly knows his stuff. But you'd better pay attention, he's a tough one! If you are willing to learn you'll do great! Good class!
Don't take Micro w/ anyone except Ghorashi. He's a great teacher and a nice guy. Take good notes and you'll be fine. He made a tough class pretty painless. Learned alot from this guy and would take him for more classes if I wasn't on my way out.
Best professor I ever had in my college career. Learned so much from this guy. Plus he really teaches you to think, which some people find fustrating and therefore give him a poor score, but the guy is an AMAZING professor. I'd take his class for fun.
take someone else
I can't even begin to think how anyone could say anything negative about Ghorashi...he was a great professor! I dreaded the thought of "Economics," and summer math in general, but his humor and knowledge absolutely helped me so much. I'm sad it'
I thought that he was a very good teacher and was interesting because he was funny. Accent is not a problem. Take good notes and you'll do fine. I got a good grade and didn't even buy the book.
His ratings curiously run the gamut from "best ever" to "worst ever." I tend towards best ever. He REALLY knows ECON and has a great delivery. Will expand your mind! Great sense of humor! Only 2 tests: a midterm consisting of your choice of 3 of 6 essay topics & a final: answer 2 of 5 essay topics.
Reza aka RZA is the man.Clear notes, if you can take good notes then you should have no prob. Everything is from notes not at all from the book.
I had him for globalization and the UN. It was quite possibly the worst experience of my life. I am sorry that i'm not a liberal that blames the united states for everything wrong that happens in the middle east....he may teach economics better than GIS courses...but stay away...
He is a really good professor. His notes are clear and he is really funny! I thought micro would be really hard, but he is very helpful!
Awesome Professor. One of the five great professors at this campus. Very nice, very fair. Good person overall. Loved by the faculty. Highly recommend Reza!
Glob & the UN is horrible! He's a really funny & nice man, though. But the assignments are never clear,we barely used the text, and your grade is pretty much based on only 1 presentation and 1 paper.Hes very knowledgable, but I barely learned anything.I would avoid this class, take him for econ though.
Professor Ghorashi is a great professor! If all teachers were like him I would never graduate from college. He begins ever class with the news so you learn about the world around you. Usually I try to read the newspaper the night before class so we can delay taking notes. Very fun man!
Overall isn't a bad professor. Waste time on irrelevant current event discussion in the beginning of class. Grades on class part, hw, quizzes and two exams. No review or handouts really, definitely need to know all covered chapters inside and out before taking exams. Overall decent professor, helpful
Very knowledgable professor, but often tells corny jokes...often. Overall, this guy knows his stuff, and explains it very well. I thought I would hate microeconomics, but Ghorashi made it interesting, and once in a while fun!
Very good teacher. Covered all the basics in a relevant way. Allowed for discussions mixed in with lectures, which is always interesting. You do have to study, though, because he throws a lot of information at you, but his tests are very limited. Grading-wise, he's fair, but he's not going to give away good grades.
Ghorashi is the nicest and sweetest professor in the world. He is very down to earth, and respectable to all his students. There arent many professors like Ghorashi out there. I LOVE YOU REZA GHORASHI!!!!!!!!!

This is the worst class ever!!!!!!!!!!! Its boring and I never learn anything... we spend $80 on books that we NEVER use!!!
by far worse teacher i have ever had. unclear in the class and his assignments are weak and undriven. he runs the class however he feels like that day. he always critizes the US. and i had debate with him about economics and after hearing his comments i'd advise against taking him for that or for anything else for that matter
hes sucks
He talks about current news everyday and never actually teaches about the UN. His assignments are **** and somewhat time consuming. You are graded based on 2 presentations and a final. Smart man but this class sucks
fair and smart , if you have an intrest in understanding economics or his other course the Glob and the UN , he makes the subject interesting.
One of the worst teacher ever to teach in Stockton. Very insulting and boring for a morning class. I made a mistake of taking him in summer 4 dreadful long hours. He likes talking about sports and bashing American politics, and he doesn't know **** about anyof those two topics. Stay away from him.
Very smart man. However, he does expect alot from his students and attendance is mandatory if you miss one class you will be lost for his quizes. He can be funny and make the topic interesting.
Much better person & prof, than harrison by far. Good smart man. This class isn't easy but, you do learn alot
THIS PROFESSOR WAS AWESOME BC I LEARN AND TAKE TESTS WELL WITH ESSAY TESTS. HIS TESTS AND QUIZZES WERE ALWAYS FAIR AND HE STOPPED AND EXPLAINED MORE IF NEEDED TO BC IF ONLY 1 STUDENT DIDNT UNDERSTAND
He is a really good teacher. He explains until everyone understands. His test are right from the notes. You don't need the book, I got an A without it. You really need to pay attention and put in a little work. The people that just want an A handed to them will have a hard time in his class.
Took class in summer. 3 hours a day 4 days a week, this professor made it more fun than I expected it to be. The exams are more difficult than you would expect them to be and a fair amount of note taking is required. I also took Macro with this prof because of liked him so much.
Awesome professor! He's VERY clear in what he says, and you really learna lot in this class. He won't move on until everyone understand that section. He's really nice and enjoys economics. Just pay attention, take good notes and you'll be fine. There are quizzes every Friday, which are pretty easy. Only 2 exams. Study and you'll be fine.
I would definitely recommend taking Ghorashi! He's a great professor and knows what he's talking about. Pay attention in class, go over your notes, and you should do well! Quizzes every Friday. Only 2 exams: midterm and final. He won't move on to the next concept unless he knows everyone understood that concept first. Def. take him!
I had him for 4 ECON classes and he's my preceptor.

I just took him for micro in the summer, so it was a little fast moving, but he wouldn't go on unless he knew that everyone understood what he just did. he does jump around the board a lot so be prepared. nice guy though and will help you if he sees that you are willing to do the work.
Ghorashi is the man. He's the reason I got so interested in Econ. Take him. He'll introduce you to a world you never thought of, even though that world has always been right in front of you.
had 4 times great teacher
One of the top two professors I ever had. Gained so much knowledge from taking his classes (Micro and Macro). He's tough, and not a "nice" guy...but if you want to learn something take his class. Wish I could take his classes again just for fun.
He does know what hes talking about. He doesnt give much hw at all. Quizzes every thursday but honestly they are so easy bc its 2 questions each from the tuesday notes, but the tests are tricky. I thought I was doing good in his class but ended up failing it???Im assuming it was from the bad test scores? Bc I alwaysgot an 8 out of 10 on quizzes
take this class!! i love him! this class is boring bc he just lectures, but its fun bc he tends to digress. write a journal every week, 2 presentations, and a final. believe me it sounds alot but it was SOOOO easy!! i studied 2 hrs for the final and got an A for the class! AND dont bother buying the book!
Great teacher, very funny and turns a dry subject into something interesting. He encourages questions and always clarifies things..very helpful. Gives an easy weekly quiz based on notes and 3 tests..not too bad. I highly recommend.
I took him for a summer class and a class in the regular semester. He's a great teacher and he really knows what hes talking about. There is hardly any homework, and no textbook. Just come to class, take notes, and youll be fine.
Insightful, excellent instructor
Avoid
Excellent professor! such an easy class if you attend and take notes. I recommend this teacher, hes great!
Love him. Funny guy, makes it interesting. Test are a little confusing if you dont study well.
There are quizzes once a week that you definitely need to study for. Also, he likes calling people out randomly so if you're shy, don't sit near the front. Odd, but funny guy though.
Had hard quizzes wchich were never more than 5 questions, andopen ended. If you got one wrong, you would get a bad grade. Didn't understand what he was saying ever and didn't explain things clearly.
An easy teacher if you follow these simple rules:#1 Go to Most if not All of his classes because everything that is on the quizzes and tests are said in class and not in the book.#2 Pay attention and take notes. He helps you to understand microeconomics and apply it to real life and not just to pass a test.
Very helpful and funny. However his explanations can be a bit confusing at times. Be sure to copy down everything he says, not just what is on the board, as it may show up on tests. Ask questions! If you don't say anything, he assumes you know the material.
He is a very good professor. He required you to listen and study for Aces. I learned a lot from him.
If you want to learn, take it. He will take his time and make sure everyone, and i mean everyone, in the class understands before moving on. If you don't understand let him know. Quizzes are rather fair, just know the material. I think he made us buy the textbook in case we felt like doing some light reading, we didn't use it. Strongly recommend.
2 Exams for the semester with quizzes every week. Grading was very subjective. Would not recommend.
There is a quiz every week so make sure you write down what he wrote on the board. Can be a hard grader. Always expect you to have question. Can be annoying at times. You have to pay attention in class. He does not like people who skip his class and he remember those people.
He rarely gives out perfect grades, always have something that he is not satisfied with. He has an accent. Classes never end early and never canceled. Everything on exam is from lecture. Don't buy the textbook. Not much homework.
This guy was inspiring. He knows his material and loves it. He really expressed it to us through current events and made it relevant. The material is hard, but he will talk about it and answer questions happily for as long as it takes. If you are lost slow him down, if you don't speak up he will keep going.
Ghorashi is a very good professor. Economics is a challenging subject nonetheless. If you commit to understanding the concepts rather than memorizing you can do well in his class. There are only 3 exams so make them count there is very little chance to get grades elsewhere. There is no homework!
We don't use the textbook he made us get. There is a quiz every week with open ended questions, not easy. I missed class because I had a bad cold and I emailed him asking him what homework I needed to do and he refused to tell me and I got a 0 for it. Picks on you if you look tired even if you're paying attention. You never get out of class early.
Professor Ghorashi is an EXCELLENT professor, if you are a decent student. He cares about whether you learn so he requires active participation and studying. If you do this and are careful to take very good notes in class, this course will be easy. Taking good notes and paying attn in class is key to doing well on exams.
This professor seems like a nice person, but his class is miserable. No clear curriculum, lectures are confusing and make no sense, pain in the butt about attendance and participation. Literally nothing makes sense in his class. He seemed to play favorites. Gives out B's and B- . I am trying to avoid any of his other classes.
This class was absolutely miserable. There is no clear syllabus and or curriculum. Two twenty minute presentations or a 12 page paper. So tough on grading and shows little respect for his students. I dropped my minor because of this. Do not take this class.
Ghorashi is challenging, which is probably the reason for the negative reviews. That said, if you make the effort to follow his lectures, take notes, and study outside of class, you will find that he is really skilled in taking very difficult concepts and breaking them down. He's also able to lead students to an answer without giving it outright
Such an amazing professor. Related everything to the real world, and really engages his students with his humor and animated way of lecturing. He always makes sure everyone understands each lesson & will go over everything as many times as needed to help you. Take good notes and review for quizzes and you will do great!
I really wish some other professor would teach Intro to Global Studies. I was forced into taking Ghorashi for my minor. His lectures were rambling and vague. 90% of the class time was spent doing 20 minute presentations that weren't explained very well. Honestly, they just felt like an excuse for him to have us teach the class instead of him.
Worst teacher ever!!! There is no syllabus or a need for a textbook. Half of the time I feel like he makes up things as he goes along. No midterm or final but weekely journal articles and 2 20 minute presentations on pointless topics. Very hard to understand him as well. Avoid him at all costs.
So much pointless busy work. weekly journals every week, 15 extra homework hours of "research", two 20 minute presentations, and basically none of it was necessary. I have no idea what this class was supposed to be about.
Ghorashi is a nice enough guy but the class was awful. Being in the class was agony, nothing but student presentations and meandering, pointless lectures by the professor. He didn't really explain any of the homework or projects, finishing his assignments felt like guess work. Honestly, I don't even know if he knew what he expected us to do.
He's really knowledgeable about the subject, but he's absolutely awful at teaching it. At the end of the class, I had no clue what he was trying to teach. He didn't even tell us there was a final until like a week before the exam. If i didn't need this class for my minor, i would have dropped it in a heartbeat.
I didn't know what he was teaching or grading on, and i don't think he did either. At the end of the year, i feel like he just gave everyone a B and moved on. The class was fine if you don't mind not learning anything.
Ghorashi was perfect for Micro. I can see why his other courses may be more difficult but he taught micro excellently. He is passionate, very worldly and knowledgeable. I was I had been on time and attended better because he takes self phone use and attendance very seriously. He is hilarious and committed to making sure you understand the subject.
Professor Ghorashi is an awesome guy. He asks about what news is going on and lets us discuss it for a while and then says well, I'll go into economics now. He's really funny and his sense of humor is awesome. If you show up and take notes and listen, the quizzes are easy. No textbook needed. He also encourages questions because his accent is heavy
Very interesting and relevant teacher. Fair grading, clear and concise while explaining the topic. Makes sure everyone understands before he goes on and encourages questions.
He is a great teacher for Intro to Microecon. He spend around 5 minutes every lecture going over what was learned previous lecture. Because of the repetitiveness of his lecture, it's hard not to learn the concepts. Important thing is PAYING ATTENTION in his class, because you only have his notes to refer to, since he doesn't really use the book.
Quizzes every Friday, based on solely what was gone over in class, and then a midterm and final. As long as you pay attention in class, participate a little, and do well on the quizzes and tests, you're good. He's a good professor and makes sure to go over concepts a lot and see everyone understands.
No textbook necessary for this class. Ghorashi lectures the entire class which can be boring but he is very clear and always asks if everyone understands because all test and quizzes are based on notes taken during lecture. He revisits previous lessons at the beginning of class. A quiz every week, midterm, and final, rarely any homework.
quick 2 question quiz every friday. 15% of your grade is participation!!!! Dont bother buying the textbook, I never opened mine!!!! For any open ended question he asks in class, answer "IT DEPENDS". 99% of the time you'll be right! midterm and final are questions very similar to the quizes! Take clear notes!
I took microeconomics 1400 during the summer (I go to Rutgers) with Ghorashi, and it was incredibly excruciating. I went to class only to doze off because he goes off on tangents and mentions things that are completely irrelevant to the quizzes. His quizzes were entirely based on material written on the board so listening was so unnecessary.
He's a very nice man but I honestly had no idea what was happening in that class at all. He just talks the entire class and it was hard to pay attention. We had 2 presentations, a midterm and a final and he's not always that clear in what he wants but somehow I passed so it's not the worst class I've ever taken.
Doesn't take attendance, but you need to go to every class in order to pass. You get two exams which is basically the entire grade. Does give a little extra credit. Exams are super hard - and you have to take good notes because he does not review for long or give a study guide. You have to really work for your grade, but it is possible to pass.
Ghorashi can get very confusing. Although very nice and hilarious, he often gets in his own way while discussing subjects. I'm taking him again this semester but only because it was the only ECON course that I could fit into my schedule.
Simple quiz every Friday. Midterm was similar to quizzes Make sure you go to class & take notes. Hes very nice and straight forward with what he wants.
Quizzes every Friday are 2 questions, midterm/final are 5. Rambles on too much and isn't clear no matter how much you ask him to restate. You won't know your grade until the end of the semester. Only notes are from the board and you can't write anything he says because he never backtracks on what he says. Wait to take another professor.
I've never been more stressed out and confused in my life. This class was a mess, at least half of the people are withdrawing bc it's so bad. Quizzes are confusing, exams (2) are worse. He talks too much, is unclear, and is all over the place on subject matter. Don't settle, save your sanity, take another professor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have taken Ghorashi for both upper level and lower level Econ courses, and absolutely loved every single classes. He is an amazing professor, who genuinely wants his students to learn something during the semester. He expects students to earn their grades, and has no problem re-explaining any topics. He is also hilarious and tells good stories.
Nice guy, but lectures are extremely confusing, does not post anything for students to refer to on Blackboard, pop quizzes, and never answers emails. He also told us "I do not keep track of your grades, that's on you" so there's that. He emails recordings of lectures, but since they're so confusing they're pretty useless. Do not take him if you can
If you take this class all you need to do is pay attention and take good notes and you will easily pass. The quizzes, tests, and rarely homeworks are straight out his lectures and notes he provides. If you communicate with him he will sometimes allow make-ups if you miss an assignment. Would recommend if your new to econ too
Loved Ghorashi! His tests when I had him years ago were all written, no multiple choice. But he has a passion for teaching and I looked forward to his class
His class is entirely lecture based so just pay attention, take good notes, and participate! He gives extra credit and is very understanding and is very easy to contact. Not much work given, just take good notes and participate!
Make sure you go to his Lectures. I took his Zoom class and it wasnt always clear what he was saying. Most grades in the class are bi-weekly quizzes based solely off the lectures. Make sure youre paying attention. Luckily you dont have to buy a textbook.
